But we had, I had some time to hang out with my buddy, Drew and my buddy episode for Eric. So one of the highlights of my week, cause the week was a lot of work. So I was able to like, I'm smiling cause he was with me. I just got to knock it all away. So Drew mentioned last week about getting his turtles fixed from Stern and to steal some thunder. They gave him a, they let him use a loner game. And guess what that loner game was? Go ahead. Tell them. An Avengers Pro. It's awesome. An Avengers Pro. So we got to play Avengers Pro. I played a little bit of his Jurassic Park Premium. Played a game or two on Simpsons. and those are three killer fucking games dude ian asked me if i could have four games in that room because i can i can fit five or six comfortably but four just on one wall and he said is there four games you would just have bolted in here and i froze because the answer is the answer is no because i've moved about 20 games out of there i like games um but but since this has been there a while jurassic park's been there a while obviously avengers is new um my laser cue's in there i'll talk is that ryan c but uh so better be funny cunts just saying all right ryan c all right all right we're sure we're gonna try but oh we're starting with the cunts already yeah yeah those australians love cunts um so ryan c welcome welcome welcome brother so which which game did you like the best all right so man i was playing avengers pro um the fucking shots on that game Let's just kind of start. So we played the Pro. All right, let's talk about that. What's the difference between the Pro and the Premium, Drew, real quick? Just knock it down. Boom, boom, boom, so we all are on the same page. There's just two real basic changes. So the Doctor Strange sling ring, which spins around, it is on all the games. In the Premium and the LE, when you're ready for a, what do they call it, a strange lock? I'm sorry, a portal lock, the sling ring rises up. A Circus Voltaire. and you shoot it in there it goes into the subway now there were a lot of people already complaining that uh the ball was not rolling all the way forward and they were having trouble hitting the switches so it didn't know the ball was in there so they've i think they've changed actually the um the mold of the subway to better adapt because one guy said he had his back legs jacked all the way up and his front legs all the way down just to make sure the ball could roll into the subway properly i found that uh concerning so anyways because i had that fun to play yeah yeah yeah no shit so anyways but back right leg jack all the way up back left leg all the way down but my front left all the way up front right all the way down it just rocks the whole thing just rocks easiest way to nudge easy peasy yeah you just you just kind of push your finger boom boom uh strange so sorry keep going so there's that and then the other really uh non uh what's the word i'm looking for i feel like i'm yelling in the mic functional uh difference so the pro has the captain marvel spinner next to the thor uh captive ball but the premium has a 180 ramp that uh wire form ramp that comes back at you and and there's a little vuck on the right side then for the premium because it kind of all intertwines there right um so so those are the differences and then there's some aesthetic differences obviously the premium has a it looks like a kitchen glove a yellow kitchen glove yeah one of those scrubby gloves for the for the gauntlet um it's cool it in the the mold is pretty cool but just the coloring it just doesn't look whatever that right The plastic looks fine on the Pro. I like the plastic. So, yeah, it's a cool plastic because as you're getting the gems, they start lighting up. It's kind of neat. But I'm sure seeing those lights, and someone's going to make a mod. You know, they're going to make like a cover for it or something, I'm sure. That makes it gold. Just a nice little fister. Just a hole and put it over the fist. Don't say fister. The nice little fist. A fist covering. A very classy, classy face. Classy fist covering. Just to give it a little bit more depth and shadow. A nice fisticuff. Fisties. So, anyways, those are the differences, but game shoots well. All right, so my first thing I noticed about the Pro is it's probably one of the most stacked Pros from Stern in a long time. It is full. It really is. It is a full game. I mean, next to the Jurassic Park Premium, honestly, it wasn't that huge of a difference. Can I say this? You can say it. It has two spinners. And that doesn't sound like a big deal to people, but Stern has not put two spinners on a pro. They did on Iron Maiden. Gary Stern pooper is this big. He's still hating being able to pay for two spinners. Yeah, Iron Maiden managed that. See, so it must be Keith Elwin, because Iron Maiden had two spinners on it. Keith, you can do whatever the fuck you want. But Metallica, now remember, going back to 2013, the Metallica Pro had zero spinners, and the Premium had two. So, you know what I mean? It's like that's a premium feature, so to speak, and Keith Elwin gets two of them in his games. Right. So that's impressive. Yeah, no, no. It was a full-featured game. I really, really liked it. I didn't miss the subway. I would have liked to have seen that 180. Yeah. I would have liked to have seen that in action. Our friend Tim Lee played both, and he said the subway isn't that great, but the 180 ramp is. What am I doing? Billy YJ has it. Billy, what did you think about the subway? Have you had any issues with it? Did you have to jack up those legs the way you described it? Yeah, Billy, tell me. It actually looks good in person. No, what does? Pinball doc, what can't we say? I think it's probably the most, besides Deadpool, which is another Zombie Yeti game, it's probably one of the most complete art packages that fits so well together. From Stern, Beatles was the same way. Just head to toe, it all just kind of flowed together in a very nice, organized, yet not a collage way. Again, Zombie Eddie's an expert at throwing a lot at you but not making it look like shitty collage artwork. I'm splitting hairs here because I love it. The art package, I think it's great. You put it next to Johnny Crap's shit? Yeah. Sorry, Johnny Crap, but come on. But Johnny Crap, as we talked about, he only had that map to work with and he didn't have as much real estate. But would you have rather seen a big Thanos head with his eyes like Deadpool in the middle? I don't care. Okay. I think it's beautiful. No, it looks fantastic. I don't know much about Avengers. I know Iron Man. Mm-hmm. Or? That's his Avengers knowledge right there. I mean, I guess the movie stuff, right? The comic stuff, I never get into. No, I never. I was into Hawkeye in the comics. Yeah. And War Machine. He was popular for a bit. Yeah, they integrate quite a few characters in that game. Yeah. So they did a good job. So anyway. But yeah. Artwork. Mm-hmm. They're raining down from the sky. uh all right so anyway so no our package awesome uh layout chats and layout real quick um Keith Elwin shooter um it felt to me and people are probably gonna hate me and drew didn't like it when i said it a couple times but it did remind me a little bit like iron maiden um and i say that as like it's not a bad thing it's like iron maiden 2.0 like he took iron maiden and improved around it and some of the shots just felt very similar to me um i know not everything on the layout is the same as iron maiden it just felt very iron maiden to me whereas jurassic park feels very different than the other two games so that was kind of my takeaway on the shots but everything's super makeable everything was super exciting to hit um it wasn't very clear on what to shoot for i wasn't really understanding the rules as much but drew you're kind of locked in with the rules it sounded like so i just i needed more time obviously you know sitting there and playing it in front of a bunch of people you probably don't get everything down yeah well it's uh as far as the rules go it's it's another genius move because you come up to this game you shoot the flashing lights and then on the screen it kind of shows you what's happening and it's it's pretty intuitive after several games but yet there's so much to do and the rules are really deep as well so approachable for anybody i will i will give stern some some mad props remember it felt like it feels like 10 years ago but it's only been a couple years where people are bitching about incomplete code in certain games that's true they have been crushing the code front they finally got caught up on all their coders and they've been they've been delivering some pretty deep codes right out of the box yes great to see because after the you know stranger things tobacco eat those cheese slices uh you know stranger things came out of the gate you know they they pushed it out because they wanted it out by christmas so they were out at like 0.3 or 0.4 or whatever it was but all these games yeah this whole year you're right like 0.8 0.9 point you know avengers is at 0.92 or something already um elvira is done uh jurassic park is done turtles is done so yeah all their new games are at 1.0 or better all right what do you think about the shots you had some big words about those shots man those shots big words might be uh what i say top three or top five of all time just because it flows so well it's super fast um it doesn't punish you too much but you know there are a few you know uh i guess uh brutal shots um but if you know if you miss you know you might get punished here or there but i think it's overall it's pretty fair right and uh but just as a once again theme aside integration aside all that stuff just the shots put it on a white wood i'm i'm gonna conservatively say top five because it's new big words told you guys but not but not top three. Um, you know, I'd, I'd have to think about what I, what I think is a little better than that. Um, but yeah, it's, uh, it's definitely a great shooters game. So, um, and every time you hit a combo, it just feels so good in that game. Because I know at first when you had Iron Maiden, it wasn't super obvious to you, but then you had it for a while, and then it became second nature. I feel like all these Stern games you play now, you are always ahead of the curve over me because I never buy Stern. Yeah, that's true. Because they are similar. They are. They tell you how many spinners you need to hit before you get something else done. Toys and gimmicks, there wasn't a lot there, but Keith Elwin kind of is a torn gimmick on himself. His shot layouts are so much fun. Well, yeah, the wire foreign ramps, I mean, there's obviously a lot of that. He does a lot of good shit there, a lot of good shit. And that sling ring is, I think it's underrated. Sling ring! It's a little underrated because, I mean, here's the one thing I heard, though, that the spinning disc in Guns N' Roses is, like, basically on ball bearings, and that thing they said spins, like, all day. Like, it's a similar thing. It's a rock star thing. And you hit that thing, and they said it just goes. It doesn't stop. and unfortunately like you you get a good hit on this sling ring on on avengers you know you get you get six or eight rotations which is cool maybe but you'd like to see like you know like a top you know like did we just do that in unison we did oh my god cute all right so anyway so that's uh that's avengers i'd give it you know overall probably a good 75 cheese slices maybe even 100 cheese slices fantastic game what it wasn't a game i was expecting to like as much as i did but it's a fantastic game um game alone i wasn't too thrilled with the theme but game is fantastic and i saw pictures of billy yj's oh my god that premium so pretty billy it's so fucking pretty so pretty where do you put this in stern's modern era so like from from acdc to now You know what? So this week, Pinside Top 100, Avengers Ali made it all the way up to number two, squeaking out Guns N' Roses by a mere couple of votes, it looked like. so now Keith Alwyn officially has three of his three games in the top ten on the Pinside Top 100 So I think they are yeah number two Jurassic Park is number four and Iron Maiden, I think, is number nine. So three games, three years, Keith Elwin, top 10. And the other thing I thought was interesting was some of the old guard is changing now because, like, other medieval madness, those other ones are starting to drop. Yeah, Attack from Mars was, what, number seven we talked about last week? Seven or eight, yep. Twilight Zone, I think, is out of the top. It might be six now. Monster Bash is like number seven. Some of these new games are really starting to take hold in the community, I think. So it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. But anyways, that led Ian and I talking about all of Keith Elwin's designs, all three of them. And we thought it'd be fun to talk a little bit about them and put them in a top three. Let's do it. Keith Elwin only made three games, so let's talk about the three games, shall we? When he makes his fifth game in like a year, we'll be calling it Keith Elwin top five. five okay but right now it's gonna be top three okay so let's start with number three drew what's your number three keith ellen game and why did it hit number three so this is just overall i think so okay we didn't really talk about that i didn't write anything down well i i have a lot of thoughts on it so uh you know all three of his games are great um it's hard to find fault with any of them tequila but uh you know unfortunately and it's it's because of the theme and you guys know where i'm going with this iron maiden you know because if we're just talking about pinball fun and shots it might be a different it might be a different ball game but just just overall package yeah everything i'm gonna have to go with uh iron maine's my number three iron maiden number three what's your number three well that's a good thing though right because that was his first game Yes, it was his first game. So it means he's getting better. And I don't – well, but like I said, the shots are great. The game plays great. The rules are great. The art is fantastic. The theme isn't bad. I like the theme. I don't even like Iron Maiden. I just like the theme. Yeah, it's a cool pinball theme. Bad-ass artwork. Iron Maiden is a fine band, and I like the music okay. I'm not like a diehard. It's a good pinball band. stuff it is it's i owned one for a while and i don't really like it so there you go number three yeah my number three iron maiden uh much of the same reasons um but i will say this iron maiden is my favorite dare i say shooter out of the three i really like the shots of it um the reason why it's my number three though is that's about all it really has going for it i didn't really care for the animations i didn't really like the fact that there wasn't really a solid toy or mech in there to really stand it apart from the other two if you put them right next to each other um iron maiden although extremely fun to play and it's fast and it is it is one of my favorite all-time shooters bar none i think it's one of the fastest and most satisfying when you hit that that inner loop a bunch of times i mean he does it kind of got he's got it down on avengers but it's it's faster on iron main but for the reason i just stated the the lack of the toys the innovation um i'm gonna have to say uh that's it's too bad so number three but a great game fantastic game one of my favorites and if it would have had a favorite to shoot knockout theme you know maybe it would have been number one in a lot of people's minds i still would have like to see some sort of mech in there come on ryan c ryan c says johnny average art we're picking on johnny crap he had assets he had to work with what was that a coloring book dino adventureland coloring book i have colored those fucking dinosaurs before johnny oh my god i own that coloring book don't that side art was a because avengers is the new shiny i get it it's it's brand new it's it hasn't been played as much so you know but yeah jurassic park you know solid game solid shooter i own it i have owned it for a while i don't know if it's leaving soon it may but right now it's staying so um it's another Keith Elwin design that there's nothing wrong with it so number two number two jurassic park yeah so he is getting better for you he is every game he just gets a little better i know that's why i'm waiting for him to pull out like the futurama or the you know all you care about is futurama you don't care about yeah you're right i'm just i'm just china will be your first collector's edition huh what do you think oh le all the way yeah i would i'd buy that in a second yeah le um okay so my number two would be avengers gasp oh no why um i think because you like the art better on um jurassic park no not true not true i i based it solely on yeah avengers by far way prettier than jurassic park but i am basing this solely on the shots um the shots were really really good on avengers and they were an improvement they did remind me a bit of one of my favorite shooters of all time iron maiden they improved on those shots however iron man's really your favorite shooter of all time it's one of them yeah it's so much fun to shoot yeah um but i gotta say jurassic park is different than those other two and i got to give it a lot of props for that so you do you have more fun shooting jurassic park than you do it's different and i like that about it okay i like that no it is he actually went a really bold direction i think with jurassic park because when i look at avengers and then when i think back at all the time i put on iron maiden i feel like okay i can't understand what you know his kind of goal is on these games um but dress park was a little bit out of left field and i really appreciated that so um so i would say my number two is avengers nothing to do with the art package nothing to do with the code uh all i had to do with was the shots and um shit what else um can you can you see this yep i gotta scroll down on chat but the uh but yeah that's that's that's where i'm going so drastic uh no sorry avengers number two okay so then avengers is obviously my number one and it's it's tough because you know i could easily sell jurassic park and get an avengers right you could but i don't know if i'm doing that yeah would you be more willing to sell your teenage well ninja turtles i have gone on record and i still maintain this you know if i would have waited a few more weeks even i would have saw avengers and i would have i would own an avengers premium right now instead of turtles okay but that doesn't mean i'm gonna yeah just selling get one because since i missed out on avengers and and you can't get them now until like the new year anyways right so i'll sit and wait to see what stern has next okay but with that being said you know and now i'm playing a pro and it's great which is awesome so i get a pro for a month or so yeah and um no that that game it speaks to me you know yeah the themes are up your alley yep it's up the themes up my alley you know i'm getting spider-man now so that's going to kind of quench that superhero thirst for me it might hurt you well it hurts yeah spider-man it might it might make it make it worse but uh but i've also like i said i do learn a little bit more patience every time like it doesn't seem that way but i wait another week or two more weeks or three you know what i mean right so it's like in the past it was like okay tomorrow i'm getting this you know the new thing whatever it is and and i just can't keep doing that because you know I lose too much money that way.
