## Analysis

Retro Ralph documents his solution to outgrowing his combined game room/office space by converting his garage into a dual-purpose arcade restoration and gameplay area. He organizes working arcade machines on smart plugs controlled via a mobile app, sets up a dedicated restoration section with tools and parts storage, and plans a switcher installation for dual-game functionality. The video emphasizes space optimization and organization strategies for managing a large arcade collection.

### Key Claims

- [HIGH] Ralph has completely filled his game room/office and can no longer fit additional arcade machines — _Opening statement: 'I finally ran out of space. Yeah, I have no space left.'_
- [HIGH] Ralph's wife set a boundary that arcade games must be contained to the game room and garage only, not spread throughout the house — _'my wife was kind enough to say, look, if you keep your arcade games to that one game room slash office in the garage, I'm fine. Just don't have it bleed into any other rooms'_
- [HIGH] Ralph has installed Kasa smart plugs on arcade machines to control power via a mobile app — _Demonstration of app controlling Mortal Kombat 2, NARC, and Donkey Kong with smart switches_
- [HIGH] Ralph plans to install a PCB switcher in the Smash TV cabinet to alternate between Smash TV and Total Carnage games — _'we're going to put that inside the Smash TV cabinet on that wall. And then that's going to be on a switcher so you can switch between two twin stick games'_
- [HIGH] Ralph has been procrastinating on completing restoration of Killer Instinct but feels newly motivated — _'Killer Instinct, which we all know I've been dragging my feet on, but I feeling motivated to get that done'_

## Transcript

Hey guys, welcome back. So in today's episode, it finally happened. I finally ran out of space. Yeah, I have no space left. So I had to come up with a solution. So this was a long weekend for me, and I just thought, what could I do to help alleviate this space problem? Now, right now, the room you're in right now is my game room. So this serves as a game room and an office for me. If you look, this is my desk. So I work from this desk. So then the rest of the room has my game. So when you walk into the room, You've got the Ms. Pac-Man Galaga 20-year reunion. You've got Street Fighter 2, Road Blasters, Sinistar, Baby Pac-Man, one of my gems of the collection, and Terminator 2. If you look in the corner, I was able to maneuver some things and get a full-size Stern pinball machine. This is the Jurassic Park Pro. But I can't fit any more games in here. So I'm gonna go show you right now what I did to alleviate. I have two problems I need to solve. I need a place for other games I wanna keep in the collection, and a spot to do restoration. So we're going to go out to the garage and I'm going to show you what I did. Now keep in mind, this is version 1.0 right now. Okay. So don't, don't like be too hard on me. This is what I came up with as my version one solution. I'm going to, you know, I'll show you it as it exists right now, but it'll get better over time. So here it is this half of the room restorations and this half of the room working or mostly working arcade games. So you've got Mortal Kombat 2, Smash TV's work in progress, Killer Instinct, which we all know I've been dragging my feet on, but I feeling motivated to get that done NBA Jam working game I just gonna redo the control panel We got NARC and NARC needs a CRT so if anybody knows where there a medium resolution CRT let me know Stargate is working, Friction is a project cabinet. Then you got the Red Tent, Donkey Kong, and GORF. So if you back up, this is sort of the idea that you have a row of working machines. The other thing I did is I actually put all the machines on an app. So if I open up my phone really quick, you can see there's an app here that has all the games. So if you look, Mortal Kombat 2 is right here. If I click that, Mortal Kombat should fire up. So there we go. If I want to turn on NARC, I can do that as well. And then NARC will fire up. So all the games that are working, I have on smart switches. So this is, I think it's Kasa smart plugs. I'll put a link in the description to what I'm using. So if I want to turn on Donkey Kong, let's see, we'll go over to Donkey Kong. So if I want to turn that on, I just go to Donkey Kong in my app, and Donkey Kong fires up. So we should be able to see Donkey Kong there in a second. Come on. There we go. And you got Donkey Kong. So, yeah, so the idea here is a place for me to record videos. I got my studio light right there. So this is more of a studio section, working games. I can come in here and play games. So that's all good. Now what about the other section? So what did I do over here? So over here what I've got is actually a working area on incoming stuff. So a lot of times I've got incoming parts and stuff like that coming in So I show you what I did there I did have to put some games over here So I got the Astro City This is still a work in progress I did I did get around to doing the bezel this weekend I like I get that bezel done plus scarlet sprites I'll get off my back cuz I actually did something the Roadrunner still a work in progress But I do have the boards in there, so I'm working on that We'll get that up and running here soon and someone here locally was selling this badass grid poster such an awesome game For those of you that have never played it the grid was like kind of one of Ed Boon's last projects over at Midway really cool game very innovative for its time as we kind of go through the rest of the stuff I've got some working CRTs that I recapped right there so those are all recapped CRTs we have monitor chassis this needs a little bit of work I have some paint for when I do restoration projects tube rejuvenators you name it wood filler bondo up here citrus strip all that stuff and then over here this is where incoming stuff is coming in so I get a lot of packages This one in particular is from Paradise Arcade Shop. My address is on that, oops. So you got the Paradise Arcade Shop stuff. And then I thought it'd be fun to put some sort of memorabilia and things like that up here. So I've got the R360 for those of you that saw that Chasing Nostalgia episode. We showcased the R360 at Galloping Ghost. NBA Jam, that's actually a tournament card that came in the original NBA Jam kit, so that's pretty cool. And then just the Smash TV poster, I like that, and this is actually the instruction set for MK3. So yeah, so some cool stuff there, and then this is actually, the reason why this is here is because it's one of the next things that I have to do. That's Total Carnage PCB and soundboard. This was pulled out of a I think it would have been an HS5 Dynamo cabinet So I going to take this I going to remove that from there And then we going to put that inside the Smash TV cabinet on that wall. And then that's going to be on a switcher so you can switch between two twin stick games. So that should be really fun. So yeah, then that's pretty much, that's pretty much the whole room as I configured it. I'm pretty excited about it. It's, you know, I want to know what you guys think because I was trying to come up with a solution. Obviously, my wife was kind enough to say, look, if you keep your arcade games to that one game room slash office in the garage, I'm fine. Just don't have it bleed into any other rooms. And I literally have removed everything from all other aspects of the house. The only places that really have games is here and that room over there. I mean, I do have the streaming room and there's like a couple, but no real arcade games are all down here. So yeah, guys, let me know what you think. This is the solution I came up with. I know this is a quick video. I don't have as much time this week. There's some family things that happen, so I have to go back home to visit my family on the East Coast. So unfortunately, I can't record much longer of a video than this, but if you enjoyed this video, give me a thumbs up. Let me know what you think of this. Put your comments below. I want to hear from you. And that's it, guys. Also subscribe if you enjoy this content, and we will see you on the next one. Thank you.
