Look, did you or did you not have a good time at the party? I had an awesome time. Frank, I know that you had an awesome time, okay? I think the entire town knows that you had an awesome time. I'm trying to ask Mitch whether or not he had an awesome time. The champ is here! The champ is here! The champ is here! The champ is here! The champ is here! The champ is here! Welcome to the Poor Man's Pinball Podcast. The only podcast that was at Expo and doesn't remember Expo. I'm Ian and with me... It's Drew, guys. I am alive. He is alive. Drew, how are you feeling, my man? Oh, I feel like a hundred bucks today. Excellent. Fantastic. What you drinking? I'm replacing my electrolytes with some Mio Sport and some Dasani water. Well, I will be drinking for the two of us since we won't have Drew Zip. We'll have Ian Zip, though. I'm having the Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey. It's because on Friday, Drew drank for 10 of us. Expo in the books, 2019. We both were there. We went there Friday, spent the night Friday night, went home Saturday. Had a lot of fun. A ton of fun. It was a good time meeting all you. A lot of people. A lot of people. A lot of people. A lot of good people there. Yeah, it was a good time, man. We'll get more into that later. But let's go into some poor man's podcast personal pinball news. Drew, do you got any today? Just a little bit. I'm currently talking to a guy about a potential F-14 sale. So we've been going back and forth on pin side. He's got a really nice one. He's like one of those, I'll call him a power seller. That's what they call him on eBay. He sells, like, literally hundreds of machines. No shit. And this thing is nice. I mean, he redoes the flippers, the coils. He goes through and makes them real pretty, real nice. So it's a good example, and we'll see if we can strike a deal. The only thing, actually, the only hang-up I have is because he's out of state, so I have to get it shipped. Like I said, I trust him. He's sold tons and tons of games. I think he actually owns a company that does it. But the shipping, it's in California. It's so expensive. I did that with the Simpsons, and it worked out okay because it was a higher dollar machine. Yeah, don't do it with that one. You know, with the F-14, you can find them. They come up all the time. I know. They come up all the time. So I'm just kind of leaning towards the lower end. Tell that guy you'll buy it, but he has to drive it down. So still looking, guys. Those things are, you can trip over one. Yep. They go up for sale every month. No, I actually made a few contacts at Expo, potentially. Everyone's trying to get rid of that because it's a game that's cool for a while. Yeah. And then it gets old. You get your ass kicked and you get your, yeah, for sure. It just gets old. But that's it on the pinball front for me. Oh, man. But you got some exciting news. Well, I did pick up my Whitewater at Expo. It's glorious. It looks really good. They did take good care of it. Everything looks like to be in really, really nice shape. I've played it about 20 times or so. I love that. Can I just say I love Diamond Plate because that play field looks beautiful. It looks immaculate still. So God bless that. Yeah, the mountains are a little wonky in the back, but it's hardly noticeable unless you really look at it. And the top is a little like the plastic's a little foggy. I might novice that, see if I can get it a little clearer. But other than that, no, she's glorious. And the Whitewater of the Game is pretty damn cool. I don't know. It's Pac-Man. I don't know how the fuck you advance rafts, but... We're learning as we go, but it's fun to shoot. But you know what? Every shot is fun. It is. So I don't even care. And you know what else? I don't... I'm not huge into, like, call-outs and stuff, but the call-outs in there are so unique and so, you know, they tell you what you're doing. Yeah, a little bizarro. But they say it in, like, such a fun way. Like, you're on the rapids and they're like, oh, Insanity Falls, do it again. You know, it's just cool. Yeah, no. Oh, and the Whirlpool shot and the Insanity Falls shot both are very cool. Very cool. Watching the ball do some stuff. And I'm like, man, how's that not in every pinball game? So it's very cool. All you companies, take note. Whitewater is a good example of how to do it right. Yeah, you know, and I still don't know how to play this game, so somebody sent us an email at poormanspinballpodcast at gmail.com. Give us some rules. Or poormanspinball at gmail.com. Poormanspinball at gmail.com. Maybe Kuiper can come over and stream it. Yeah, yeah, we need some rules. I have no idea how to advance rafts. I'm sure I could look it up and it would be great, but it doesn't really matter right now because I'm still in the honeymoon phase. I just like shooting it and playing with it, so it's a good time. Beautiful game. Fantastic. Two thumbs up. Love it. Nine cheese slices so far. Wow. That might be the highest cheese slice rating we've ever given on the show. Yeah, I don't know what it's out of yet still, but we'll just give it nine right now. We're assuming 100. The topper looks beautiful. I'm glad they did the regular incandescent bulbs and not the LEDs because the LEDs tend to throw off the waterfall motion. Oh, yeah, for the topper. Yeah, it looks weirder with the LEDs. Is your whole play field and stuff LED, though? Everything's LED. Yeah. Yeah. I still got to get some magnetic strips for my pin stadiums to get on there. But other than that, it's beauty, and I'm a big fan. Big fan. Good. Do you like it by your Monster Bash? Right now, a little bit. Okay. A little bit. I'd like to learn how to play this one first, and then I'll give you my full-on. Monster Bash was so easy to learn. It was so easy to learn. After the first three games, you're like, yep, I get it. I know what I'm doing. I'm not chopping wood on one tree. I'm chopping wood on five trees. Got it. Chop, chop. Chop, chop, chop. So God bless Monster Bash. I played it at Expo. I saw an original Williams one at Expo, so I played that. Was it as nice as this one? As what? The CGC? No, the one you have. Oh, the Monster Bash. Yeah, Monster Bash. We're not talking about Whitewater. No, Monster Bash. I played the one at Monster. Oh, I played the Whitewater Expo, too. It's not as nice as this one, no. But the Monster Bash was, yep, it was Monster Bash. That was the original, you said, right? Yeah. You feeling good on my selling it? I feel good about it. Sure. Sure. Anyway, so that's me. That's my personal pinball news. So, all right. So, we'll keep moving on. Drew, news. What's going on in the news? What do we got? Let's talk about Stern So Stern, we got to play Elvira and the House of Horrors What are your thoughts on that? I was impressed with it Overall, I thought it's a nice package I thought they did a good job Once again, I just can't stomach the price tag I get what everyone's saying about the dead heads on the screen It is a little off-putting with everything else that's going on on the screen. They should probably either do something else with it or just get rid of the animations the way they have them. But it is what it is, and that's a small, minor gripe. But I think it's fun. I think it shoots well. I think the ramps are fun. I think that house with all the diverters is really freaking cool. It is cool. It's very cool. But once again, I think it's just geared towards the really hardcore Elvira fans. I'll play it on location some. I'm sure maybe Gar will get one at the Garkade. Yeah, maybe. Once the premiums start trickling out, we'll probably start seeing some at some of the local haunts. No pun intended. Yeah, I know when people were saying how easy this game was. Well, I agree because I was making all sorts of shots. If I can make a game look good, you know your game's too easy, number one. Yeah, but we weren't blowing up the score. Bro, did you see my score? I beat you and Chris the Pinturn. Yeah, Chris the Pinturn. He kicked our asses. Yeah, I know. First game ever, and I was killing it. What about you? Was it something that really grabbed you? No, I think someone made a really good point at Expo. They said, I forgot who it was, so excuse me if you're sitting there screaming at your radio. But they're like, you know, if I had $12,000 to spend on a viral machine, I'm not getting House of Horrors. I'm getting Scared Stiff or I'm getting a really nice Scared Stiff. You're going to buy two games, yeah. And then something else. So there's no real need to get this one. I don't need this one. I don't think anyone really needs this game. This game is expensive and it's fun to shoot, but I don't know if it's a keeper. Sure. People are going to buy it and then you're going to see them on the secondary. I just feel like people that are buying this one are, like you said, hardcore, maybe just in general hardcore collectors that need every LE or need every kind of weird... That, and we can assume that a large percentage of the people buying them, especially the LE and the Signature, they have the other two games. Yeah, maybe. Probably. Maybe. If they don't, it doesn't matter. It's going to a large collection. That's not going to be your only game. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? You're not going to just go out and be like, yeah, that's my first pin. Yeah, $12,000, baby. That doesn't matter to me. Well, and not even that. $8,000. Yeah, you think about theme. You go talk to a distributor, and you're like, oh, and get Elvira. And they're like, who the hell is Elvira? And then they look at it. Depends how old you are, yeah. True. But then they're going to see the Ghostbuster and the Star Wars and the Deadpool and all the other cool stuff, Wonka. And it's not going to win out in the theme category. Yeah, the game was, you know, four cheese slices, but the price was, you know, really for a six cheese slice game. Yeah. Yeah, I give it three and a half cheese slices on our arbitrary scale. Such a good scale. Also on Stern, we've got a few things to talk about at Stern. We played Star Wars with the new artwork. Oh, man, was that a beautiful machine. I'm going to say it again. I know it's the same game. It makes me want to buy it. I can't stop thinking that. And you had to remind me once. Chris the Pinter had to remind me. Same fucking game. I'm playing the premiere. What am I saying? I should get one of these fucking things. Oh, dude, this is a good shooting game. Yeah, I know. I love this game. I've played it a thousand times. I'm like, that game sucks. This game's awesome. Yeah, same goddamn game. Well, you have to do a double look. It is. You do. It looks... Full. It looks like a full-on game. It looks full. Like we were talking, even that font. Even the font on there. Who was that talking about font? Oh, that was Brian C., right? Yeah. No. Dennis Creasel? I don't remember. but someone's talking about different fonts new times roman yeah yeah and they're right it just it just looks better i mean the font you know and i wouldn't give the font i didn't even look at the font it's isn't it just star wars font it's better font better than star wars font sure but but font aside yeah regardless beautiful game oh man looks so good and we we kind of debated a little bit which which one do you like better you like the pro the i like the pro artwork better The back glass? Everything. Okay. The cabinet? Better than Boba? Oh, yeah. Oh, man, that Boba looks so cool. Why is Boba on the side of a cabinet? Oh, I don't care why it's Boba. I'm not one of these people. Boba's just a cool character. That art's really cool, though. I dig it. No, I'd rather have a star battle. X-Wings blowing up a Star Destroyer. That looks fucking cool. Fair enough. I'll take that all day long. That's cool. But the game itself is definitely a premium. I'd want a premium if I was getting a game. yep the Star Wars look great, the artwork looks fantastic in person, it really pops what else happened at Stern? oh, the Black Knight topper Jesus it's like Disney World I have never given toppers any thought, none at all like I as many mods and crap as I bought I never once looked at a topper and like I should get that and I looked at that and I was like I might want that. And I don't even own the game. The topper is out of control cool. He's like, all right, so it's like the Black Knight head with his little fluffy, tough thing on the top of his head, and he has his red glowing LED eyes. It's his pimp hat feather. Yeah. He's pimping really hard on top of this machine, and he's looking around. He's talking. I believe it's interacting with what's going on in the field. I'm sure there's some of that. It's fucking cool. It was. It was like a total animatronic. It was. Just doing his thing. I loved it. Out of control. So cool. Way cool, man. It was so fucking cool. What do we think that thing is? Did they have a price? $500? Oh, it's... It's probably $500, $600, I would have to think. It's a signature edition, so at least... It comes with Elvira's couch in his mouth. Yeah, at least $12,000. I have no idea. God bless it. Stern will find a way. They will. They'll get you. They'll take your money. They're like, buy this $6,000 Black Knight that has nothing on it, and then buy this amazing topper, it's $1,200. There's more mechanics in the topper. Yes. It's so sad. I'm sorry, everybody. I know. There's some people out there that love it. I'm glad people love it. No, it's awesome. Continue to play your Black Knights, guys, and never mind us. No, the game's fun. Yeah, never mind us. Oh, I like the premium. I don't like the pro. We've talked about that before. No, I've played more of the pro. It's a fun game. Just not a buy for me. All right. All right. So anything else that's certain? I'm sure there's more I got Elvira's autograph You did Eric from episode 4 was with me Eric Walker We were pretty hammered This line for Elvira is crazy Cassandra Peterson It is way long So instead of doing that we played pinball We drank we played more pinball we drank we relayed more pinball And then we noticed the line was gone but she was still signing autographs So he was like, let's go, dude. I was like, all right, man, let's go. So we get in line. It was only like two people deep at that point. And, uh, uh, she had been signing autographs for fucking hours, dude, hours. And I was like, this poor woman's going to hate us. You know, we just show up all drunk, you know? and it was like 40 bucks for an autograph i want to say 40 bucks uh for a for a picture and okay eric was all about the picture and i was like well you know what fucking if you're gonna pay 40 bucks for a picture for you know for both of us i'm gonna get an autograph so we both throw down 40 bucks it was a quick 80 for her and she was super cool man she was not that's She didn't seem exhausted. She seemed all pumped. She was like, get over here. She gave us a real tight little squeeze as we took the picture, and I fell in love all over again. My pants got tight. Yep, I came home to my wife. I go, oh, well, I love you too. But, man, Cassandra Peterson, absolutely beautiful, absolutely wonderful. She's got a smile that I freaking could die for. She's got a great smile. One of the best Expo Roundup podcast quotes I've heard earlier today was they were talking about the line and, yeah, how nice she was. And they said, yeah, she's probably looking at this line of sweaty rubes. And it's just like, what did I get myself into? But then, like you said, when everyone gets up to her, she's just so kind and so polite. And that's just awesome. Way to go, Cassandra. Yeah, dude, she was awesome. Let's give her a round of applause. Super awesome. We love you, Cassandra. Thank you so much. Poor man pinball, love you. All right, so JJP released their Wonka Collector's Edition there with the topper. It had under-cabinet lighting that was interactive with the game. And Ian's in love again. They had the sparkly play field. Ian got taken in by the Collector's Edition. I never wavered on Wonka. Every time I play that game, every time I stand in front of it, It doesn't matter if it's a standard or, you know, whatever, limited edition or the collectors. They all are so damn pretty to me. I just, I don't know. It's the colors. It's the animations, just the joyful nature of the game. And then I plunge it. And then I fucking suck at that game. I suck hard. That game can make you hate life in a hurry. Suck it. I love it. Dude, that game is fucking hard. I haven't gotten anything in that game. You know when we first played that game on the reveal on the stream and we drained right away? Yep, yep. I haven't gotten any better. It's been a year almost. I haven't gotten any better on that goddamn game. I don't know really what I'm doing. I know to hit the gobstop or whatever, to get the gobstop or multiball, the gobble hole or whatever. I know how to start some of the modes and all that stuff, some of the kid multiball and stuff. But still, it's hard for me. I don't know what it is. It's not an easy game. Everyone talks about the left out lane drain. You're like the center. Well, what about the straight to the middle? I suck, dude. Can we get a Ghostbusters post for this one, please? I suck at that game the worst way. I just can't. I don't know what it is. That game hates my ass. How about you? I know you're better at the game. Yeah, I enjoy it. I mean, I'm with you. And, you know, I'm still always toying with the idea of getting one because it is. It's so damn fun. It's a good shooter. But, no, it's beautiful. It is a tougher game, but it shoots so smooth. And, you know, it's not a drain monster, but it's just, you know, the rules are. It is for me, brother. It is for me. The rules are a little deeper, and, you know, it takes some time. But that makes it a good home pin. Right. You know, it's kind of like Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park doesn't drain as much as Wonka, but the depth of rules and stuff, it's similar. Yeah, lots of good choices out there, folks. It's beautiful. It looks great. Anyone who buys one and loves the game, they're going to enjoy it because they added quite a bit to it. And I told you, I've gotten off the LE train. I would be perfectly happy with a standard. because the Wonka Vader, you can still get the same multiball. You don't have the mech. I get it. But with the depth of rules and everything else, I just don't think it's necessary. Get the mod, spend the $50, and maybe it's $100. I don't know. It's usually $100. Yeah. A mod for $50. Mods are always $100. Crazy, crazy talk. But, yeah, I'd be just fine with a standard, and I would play it. And that one would stay for a while. Well, I suck at all three models, so I don't care. I don't care. I'd play whatever. If it's down here, I'm happy. That's where I'm at. All right, so we'll move on. Spooky, they did their pinball life party. They were there. We got tickets from Ken Cromwell. Thank you, Ken, for the special one. Thank you, Ken. Sorry I couldn't make it. We just got caught up. It was a 40-minute drive. We got caught up. Yeah, we started talking to people. It's too much fun. We were only there for one night, so I felt bad. I thought it was there at the hotel when we said yes to the guy. And then he was like, at the very end, he's like, yeah, it's about 40 minutes. And I'm like, wait, 40 minutes from where? Yeah. What's going on, guys? Yeah. Oh, well. Yeah. I saw some pictures. They're fucking cool, though. They had a shit ton of pinball there. So speaking of spooky, they had that raffle there, or fundraiser. And yeah, they had TNA number 550. Oh, man, did that thing look good. yeah dude that was a work of art as far as tnas are concerned goddamn work of art where can you see those pictures did we did we uh link that anywhere i couldn't share it okay for whatever reason oh no i did share it yeah i thought so i shared it poor man's pinball podcast on facebook like us please check it out and check out that it's a good spooky fucking machine tna is a good looking game but whatever they did on that one with the lighting it just i don't know it just really shine super cool okay so american pinball octoberfest still fucking fun we did have fun playing that and you're in fine and there ian again is standing in front of this thing shooting and he goes i need one of these everyone looks at me i got slight chub in my pants and i'm sitting there and i'm drooling and i'm just wide-eyed and i'm just having the most fun playing that stupid game and i love it i love it so much that i will eventually have it down every week we're in this basement full of old beer signs old beer steins all beer memorabilia all this great stuff leader hosing upstairs and he's like i only have room for one pin and the last like i have room for two last month he didn't have any pins and i'm just like why is there not an oktoberfest down here the perfect theme for your perfect bar dude yeah well you know what do it do it do it just Shut your damn mouth, Drew. I have a whitewater that barely works. No, I'm joking. I'm joking, kids. It's a beautiful machine. All right. But no, it's just so much fun. I love being able to collect signs. I love being able to... They coded the hell out of it. And they just released new code. There's even more stuff now. Choose the game. Choose your adventure. Choose your drinking adventure. Oh, my God. Juggling, just get right into the multiball or the... Be like Drew at Expo. So, choose your drinking adventure. You chose wrong, sir. All right. Well, American Pinball, I just want to give you a round of applause for Oktoberfest. I have a blast every time I play it. If I had six grand just laying around again, I'd pay for it. But I don't. But I love you. You have a whitewater for trade bait. Absolutely. Once I get sick of this, that might be my next machine. We don't know yet. All right. So, CGC, we saw the Medieval Madness topper. People lost their shit over that topper, but not the Black Knight topper, which I don't understand. Yeah, that is a little bizarre. I mean, Medieval Madness is obviously a much more popular game. Yeah, it's a cool sculpt and everything. And it was a really cool sculpt. And once again, not being a topper guy, I saw that thing. I wasn't overwhelmed with it, but it's pretty cool. But like I said, I'm just not into toppers. Topper, okay. It's just okay. And then the large screen, well, I was a little spoiled with Monster Bash. It's not a huge novelty for me right now, but I appreciate it. And if you're just used to looking at the regular screen, it's a pretty big, yeah. It's a huge upgrade. But for me, personally, the biggest news of that whole thing was the interactive GI lighting. You know, they got the RGB GI lighting. So much better, dude. It's like the whole play field, like, came alive. It's so cool, man. Sure, because that remake truly did just look like the regular game. I mean, it was like almost a... Well, they all are. They're all very close. Well, I understand that, but I'm saying the lighting on Monster Bash is like some of the best lighting. Yeah, that's the interactive GI. Yeah, so that's what they did with Medieval Madness. Attack from Mars. You got a few games on that one. I love it. Zach on Twip said that it's going to be a kit for you LE owners. So, spend a lot of time over at Haggis Pinball, right? Yep. kelts uh love the art love the way it looks very fun the package yeah very fun i said this before that it's it's cartoon art which i really enjoy so yeah it's very comicky yeah yeah no i get you yeah super cool um i love the lcd integration into the play field i wish more companies did that um i love the fact that for an extra thousand dollars you get your own personalized call out so if you didn't know that people out there you can get your own personalized call out when they When you say personalized, can you have them say different things? No. So what it is is, no, it's your, so when you start up a game, you choose a clan. And each clan has certain powers. Well, there's a clan there, standard, that is just the Haggis clan, you know? Haggis? Haggis? I think it's Haggis. Haggis. The Haggis clan. But they will replace the Haggis clan with your last name or your clan name. Whatever you want it to be. You could be Poor Man's Pinball Podcast Clan, or it could be my last name, Haberman Clan, or whatever. Sure. And then they would have call-outs that would call out the Haberman Clan or the Poor Man's Pinball Podcast Clan. Okay, so it is like a whole package, but just with your name. Yeah, it's cool. That is cool. And then also on the back glass, it says Hagas Clan on there. I think they changed that to your clan on the back glass. So very cool. Yeah, no, it is. Very personalized for $1,000. I think there's some value there. Yeah. The game itself is a $5,400 change? $5,200 plus shipping, I think. And they're billing to order. And they said about 12 weeks. 12 weeks. And three payments of $1,700 or something. And then they'll have a possible topper for $500 yet. Yeah. They haven't designed it yet. But how did the game shoot? It's a little early. The one we were playing, well, the only one out there, the scoop was shooting it straight down the middle and they were telling us that's an adjustment they need to do yet yeah it seemed like they were having a little issue with the flippers yeah there was there's a little bit of weak sauce i don't know if they were just being overplayed or whatever yeah they're it wasn't like you know the shot that's snappy yeah they weren't snapping the shots were were good there was there was a couple good shots um yeah i think there's some adjustments that need to be made that can but it's like a basic single yeah level play field and but it you know what got me pumped up and this is just me but the fucking bagpipes i don't i didn't know i was gonna be in love with bagpipes flaring while i'm playing pinball but got me kind of jacked up i was feeling like i was in braveheart so yeah the package is uh it's it's a good package yeah you know all together but um so this is kind of apples to oranges but how do you think this compares a cosmic carnival i never played cosmic carnival so i couldn't tell you um you know because it's just kind of, you know, they just had their thing, and, you know, they're no longer making games, and they come out with a, you know, kind of cool concept. You know, it wasn't a single-level game, but, you know, cool art and some cool stuff going on. And, you know, I'm just interested to see how the community rallies behind this one. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. It seems like people are excited about it, you know. So the layout's interesting enough. And like I said, it's a pinball machine for sure. Like, they did a really good job. And the guys there at Haggis were amazing. They were so much fun to talk to. Oh, super cool. So Damien was the owner of Haggis. Yes. Oh, my God. Damien was fucking, he was a stud. He was so much fun. He was there for our beer chugging that we did with Chris the Pinter. He was cheering us on the best he could. So I can say I slammed a beer with him, but even though he wasn't slamming a beer, he was drinking a beer. But together we were one. So Damien, I love you, brother. I had a lot of fun with you. And good luck with everything I think it's going to be I hope it's going to be a hit for them I hope they are successful enough to make game number two Sure Once again we're always down to manufacturing Yep Grow grow grow Do the spooky thing A lot of homebrews there We finally got our hands on some of the homebrews So Mark and Citi Mark we love you He was fun. He was cool. And his game is awesome. Nightmare Before Christmas. So if no one has been able to play that game, if you ever get a chance, try to go out of your way to play this game. Because I went back for round two because I had so much fun playing this game And Mark was such a personal guy Every time we were even around that area oh, hey, guys, how's it going? And he's like, I just fixed some things with the shots and the code. And he's like, why don't you try it out? And I was like, oh, fuck yeah, I'll try it out because that game was just so cool. So Nightmare Before Christmas, two thumbs up, ten cheese slices. It was awesome. It's a cool game, and it sounds like he's getting closer and closer to potentially getting this game made. Yeah, he was talking to a few manufacturers, and it's coming down to just licensing. Disney, of course. It comes down to no one's going to touch this thing unless they get the assets from Disney. So until that's a thing, you're just kind of SOL. We're kind of that waiting game. Yep. So, I mean, he's got some stuff to work on, obviously, on the game. But the game shoots. For a wide body, it shoots fast. It's a beautiful shooting game. And there's a cool magnet mech right in the center. It's just, you know, it's a really cool game. And I really dig that theme. Yeah. Spooky pinball. That would be one that right up their alley should be really cool. I'm sure, you know. That's not what they're going to do. No. No. It'll be American pinball, I'm sure. because they don't want to mess with Disney either, probably. Well, I'm sure that they don't have time in their mind for that game. Yep. No, they're already two years out. They're too busy. They're two or three years out with what they got going on. But, no, Mark, good luck with that, brother. We loved it. That was a hell of a game. Hell of a game. So much fun. Hope to see it in production. All right. And then Krull. We played Krull. One of ten. The infamous Krull. The game that doesn't have a price tag because it's so effing expensive. It's so flipping cool. I mean, the game itself is not the most unique except for the second play field because it's a play field on top of a play field. Yep, like a full freaking play field. Full play field sandwiched on top of a full play field with a magnifying glass that makes it look like you're hitting a little pea-sized pinball. It's the most bizarre thing you've ever seen. It is, but super cool. It is cool, man. I was getting vertigo looking down that damn hole, though. I was like, whoa, what is going on here? It's a novelty game. That's not priced like a novelty game. No. It's a pinball game. It's not a novelty. It's a pinball, but it's priced like... Like a brand new car. A nice car. Priced like a roller coaster. I don't know. All right. Oh, man. Should we do a top five? We should. We shall. Top five. Top five. Well, well, well, well. All right, so we have top five moments from Expo, or top five things you loved in Expo. Why don't you go first there, Ian? All right, I'll kick it off. My number five, number five is that I completed my top five list last week. I got to hug Christopher Franchi, which was a bitch, by the way, because he was surrounded by tables. I had to wait until after the show, and he emerged from the show. Got to hug that bastard. God bless him. I got an autographed picture from him, too, so fantastic. Thank you again, Chris. He drew a penis on mine, so suck on that, boners. So got a hug from Ken Cromwell. I don't know if he was expecting it as much, but I attacked him. I went in quick. Well, you've been setting that one up for a couple months now. I went in quick. I flanked him. I flanked him after he was finishing a game of Banzai Run. So I gave him a quick hug. And then I saw Zach attack in the parking lot, Hacky Zach, and he was talking with Jason Fowler, and I show up, and he hugged me, and he gave me a bear hug, and he lifted me up. He's much taller than me, so it is what it is. As most of the world is. I felt like I was four feet tall. However, it was a good hug, and he held me for a bit because he listens. Was it the seven seconds? did it go seven seconds i wanted to get i wanted to love for seven seconds i wanted it i wanted to film it and i was hoping we get a second chance at a hug but we never did oh you could have played some nice music and it could have been a whole moment it was well i mean you know i guess my worry was i didn't capture the moment of us chubbing together you know our pants were getting tighter and tighter and we were just holding and just but you had to squeeze pretty tight things that's taking a breath too little tense loving it and jason fowler just looking at us like what the fuck is going on what is happening here and what just happened i don't know something weird so you know what magic was in the air uh and then i think my other thing was to play pinball and i played a ton of pinball so i hit my top five man so hug frangie one two three four i don't know there's a fifth one in there somewhere but yep i played a ton of pinball so it was great it was fantastic that's awesome man how about you drew you know there are so many great moments um so i had i had trouble with five so i gotta lump some together um as i often do so this isn't a big shock anyways is it uh you're a big lump bro you know i didn't get as much time with this guy as i would have liked but it was it was a brief encounter uh Dwight Sullivan. Got to meet him for a little bit, just talk. This was after his Family Feud game. And, you know, it was just cool meeting him in person. And I told him, I said, hey, Dwight. And he goes, what? I said, I just want to let you know that Champion Pub is not a novelty game. And he was so excited, a big smile, you know, gave me a high five. So that was kind of cool. And then in that. You kiss ass. in that standing next to him was Jerry Thompson, the legendary sound designer, and his wife. And by the way, those are two of the nicest people I think I met at Olive Expo. It was really awesome. So Jerry Thompson and his wife, her name eludes me at the moment, but just had a nice little five-minute chat with them, and we just had a little fun, and that was cool. So what is that? That's really five. So then four is the infamous Todd Tuckey. Fun guy. He's exactly like he is in his videos. He's fun. We talked to him for a little bit, got a couple pictures. He took a couple of really goofy pictures with us, so check out our page. We got some, what's the word, trademark Todd Tuckey pictures. Yeah, we may or may not be on his video. So his next TNT video When he does the little expo thing We were pretty fucked up So if you want to see how messed up Drew was We may be on the Tatsuki video Of TNT So watch for us I'm assuming it'll be towards the end I don't know What a class act that guy is I'm looking at Drew and he doesn't even know we were videotaped Nope, sure didn't You know what we should have in this episode? Every time we reference The incident we should just have a little ding ding well that's that's time number 10 i know good lord and i caught the incident it was like a night of incidents for drew but um but i i do i do remember meeting todd and uh like i said we actually have some some pretty goofy pictures with him it's kind of neat yeah yeah no doubt my number four um crystal got me on this you know Good old Crystal Gimnich. She, uh, taxi. Playing taxi for the first time. I finally popped my taxi bubble, my taxi cherry. I fell in love with that game pretty quickly, too. Hard. Like, that game is a lot of fun. I love the burnout right away in the beginning and the spin out or whatever. And collecting all the people. It's pretty straightforward. It's easy to understand, but fun to shoot. Great game. Super great game. All the shots were there, and I had so much fun playing it, and I will also own a taxi one day, guaranteed. Drew, you're number three? Are we at your three now? Yep, number three. I got a little ahead of myself and did five and four together. That's all right. I lost my list, so I found it again. I figured we're at. Okay. My number three, two words, Christopher Franchi. Very cool, Chris. Just fun meeting the guy, talking to the guy. He's awesome He was excited to meet us too He saw us He was at his booth And we walked up He knew instantly He just had a big smile on his face He snatched one of our stickers Man, I had like the biggest man crush on that guy He's awesome He's just the coolest He's awesome He's so fucking cool Yeah, it's just fun He's just fun So yeah, it was just cool It was awesome shooting this shit I tried to get him a cocktail He said no because he's a responsible individual unlike us but uh god bless him he's awesome and um i hope to see him in many more shows and i hope to see his artwork on many more pins definitely yeah he uh he sent a message about uh tpf yeah it got me thinking i'm like maybe we should go to tpf yeah maybe so uh ryan uh kuiper turbo graphics 7 bought uh the beetlejuice alternate translate so yes Very cool. It's very cool. Fucking cool. I was looking at some of that stuff, and I just don't really have any room on my walls to put it. I know. You just got to keep squishing it together like me. I know. I'm out of room, too. But I'm going to find room for the Granchy thing. I was a little bummed that he was out of the Creature from the Black Lagoon stuff. He just had that big canvas. That's my biggest. That's just a weak spot for me. I love Creature stuff. He should have got that big canvas. But I don't have room for this little guy I got I know So I got a cool The Thing John Carpenter's The Thing Oh, tell him about the signature And he signed it Well, I did He put a penis on it So suck on that You know That was awesome Just fantastic So thank you very much, Chris That was awesome I don't know if that was your number three Or my number three But it was great That was my number three So now, what's your number three there, Ian? Well, picking up Whitewater We kind of talked about that Yeah So that was my number three And the guy we picked up from Shad From Minnesota Fantastic guy Thank you, Chad He had a room full of folded up pins he was selling He was selling a bunch that week He told me the saddest story Because we were talking on the way About his dog Yeah Yeah, that's why Yeah, he's selling You know, his dog is having surgery His dog's fine It's not the saddest story But it's a sad story Yeah, he's got to sell pins to pay for His dog's vet bills Oh, man Awful All right, Drew, you're number two Number two So this one's kind of all-encompassing All the podcast media personality We talked about Ken Cromwell and Zach and just meeting all these guys. Jason Fowler, Matt Kanin, Slap Save, Pinball Podcast, super cool. And since this is only a top five list, I'll just throw in there some of our listeners and people that came up to us during the show, like Drew Syke from Canada. Let's save that for mailbag. Okay. Because we got that for mailbag. Okay. Listener love. Nope, that's perfect. All the people that we met. So you can edit back from that. No, you're fine. We're fine. Yeah, so all the pinball media mafiosos. It was just awesome meeting all you guys and shooting the breeze and just everyone. If I missed anyone, I'm sorry. Greg Bone. Who else? Greg Bone's wife. Greg Bone's wife. Zach's wife. Zach's wife, Nicole. So Chelsea Bone and Nicole Many. Yep. You gave her a shirt? You gave away your poor man's pinball shirt? I tried giving her my poor man's pinball shirt. Oh, you still have it? Yeah. Oh, okay. She didn't want it. Are you kidding me? No, she didn't want it. I know she didn't want it. Who the fuck would want that? Nicole, if you're listening, and I'm sure you're not, but I'm sure Zach will relay this to you. I know you don't want my shirt. Oh, man. the incident oh I'm done yeah we know you don't want this shirt it's just a stupid shirt oh man that's too funny alright anyway let's move on I already talked about Todd Tucky and just so many great people well that's my number one you know the Ken Cromwell, Steve Beattie Jason Fowler, Matt I forget his last name but Matt was fucking great um all those guys um you know i got to meet dave you know uh you're you and ryan yep um i learned oh chris the pin turn chris dude chris groves there the pin turn yes chris we had so much fun oh man so thank you chris for being such a cool dude i had a blast with you uh carrie from um straight down the middle uh carrie hardy yep yeah so he was awesome we got to play some uh judge dread which i narrowly defeated him i'm not gonna brag but i did beat him just he was you know his first ball one dude he almost broke a billion on his first ball and you're like yep that's not gonna happen i was like i was like man carrie go fuck yourself that's crazy almost a billion on your first ball and then um the next two balls like instant drains and he didn't have a very good one and then my first two balls were okay but my third ball i blew it up and Got just a bit over a billion And he was in my ear the whole time Going you motherfucker don do it Don hit that what do you think you doing son You know So that was a lot of fun Yeah Mark and CeeDee we already talked about that The guys from Haggis Pinball. Greg Bone. I try not to give him a hug because I know he doesn't like the germs. Yep, a little fist bump. Yeah, I was very careful with my handshake. Made sure I had some sanitizer close by. Who else? Crystal. She was amazing. Yeah, there were so many people. Steve Beattie. Yep, I said Steve. And some of the Stern guys, you already mentioned a few, but you did talk to John Borg. Yes, I did. That's my number one. You spoiled it. Sorry, sorry. Number one, John Borg, the great designer. Yeah, I actually was hanging out with him for a while, and he was super kind and nice, and we were actually having a lot of fun talking. Yeah, John Borg. We're doing this all backwards. John Borg was fucking cool. He was such a good guy. There's also some good pictures of us with him You can go into detail here I just wanted to yell out my number two It was Nightmare Before Christmas It was fun that Brad Hopkins Told us, hey, go out of your way to play this game It's my favorite game And I got a picture with me, you and Mark And the game And I told Brad I loved him And he said, I love you too Brad Hopkins, that was for you, brother Yeah, dude, that was awesome So that's my number two and go for your number one. John Borg. I know. If you want to nerd out for a bit, go for it. Well, like I said, I ran into him. I saw him, and I was a little starstruck. And he's one of my favorite designers and obviously has a lot of great games out there. So I just said hi and whatever. And then we started really talking, and then we got into a lot of pinball nerdy stuff. And I asked him what his favorite game was that he plays at home. No surprise, he said Metallica. It's a great game. And, you know, I just thought it was super cool. And then, you know, hey, can I buy you a beer? He's like, sure. So I buy him a beer. And then, you know, we just kept talking and talking. This is when Ian and Eric were getting pictures with Cassandra. So they thought they lost me to drunkenness. But at this point, I was still upright and shooting breeze with John Borg. It was awesome. That's debatable. So which part? The part where we lost you for an hour and a half. You were fine when we lost you. and then when we picked you up, you weren't so good. But, yeah, thanks, John. It was fun. You were one of the highlights of my expo. Oh, yeah. He was cool. He was really cool. It was one little side note, which is kind of funny. In the middle of some of our conversations with John Borg, our buddy Eric shows up. I'm like, Eric, this is John Borg. He designed Metallica, Aerosmith, Guardians. He goes, oh, wow, that's really cool, really cool. and then he looked up and he saw Keith Elwin walk by. He goes, Keith! And Keith looks at us and he starts walking towards us and Eric didn't even know what to say to Keith. He's just like, oh, hey. It was one of those moments he's just like, that's Keith Elwin, but he didn't, it just came out, Keith! That's hilarious. And I was talking to John Borg too about Jurassic Park, the original Jurassic Park and how he designed it. I was like, hey, so what was it like with Keith designing his own version of Jurassic Park? Did you guys talk at all about anything? And he goes, no, not really. I need more scoops. He was like, he had his own thing. And then he did mention, he was like, but I did give him all my schematics because he had the T-Rex idea. The original one was okay, picked up the ball. But his was a little bit more like they usually are. They're a little bit more in depth. And it did more things. and I think George Gomez got a hand of the, you know, a hand of on that, and he ran with it. Sure. So that's how we had the T-Rex now, because I don't think that was originally Keith's vision, but it's fucking cool, man. Both games are cool. Yeah. Well, John Barg was awesome. That was a cool little story he told me, and that was pretty damn funny with Eric yelling Keith. Keith comes over. He sees John. He goes, hey, John. And then I go, hi, Keith. That was the most awkward, weird thing, and I would like to blame Keith Elwin for making it so weird. Thank you, Keith. Follow us on the Poor Man's Pinball Podcast Facebook page. All right, so that was it. Top five. We're done. It was good expo, man. Good first experience at expo, and I think we'll be back, right? Yep, we will be back. We will be back. Let's wrap this up with a mailbag. Am I allowed to go back? You are still allowed. You didn't do anything. You didn't hurt anybody. You're fine. He scarred Zach a bit, but Fuck him, he's a tough guy, he can handle it Alright, so we got the mailbag Right, mailbag? Mailbag, mailbag Mailbag! Woo! I don't know why I became woo today That's fine, that's fine You're compensating for your lack of Drew Zip today But I'm still here, guys I'm still zipping away Zip, zip, zip I'm not afraid Never afraid So anyway, we met up with a ton of people We're not going to read emails, we're just going to kind of Give a few shout-outs to some people that we saw. Yep. Yep. A lot of people that we met. We met Jeff Patterson. Yes. From TWIP. Yep. Handsome fella. Yeah. Wasn't expecting him to be so damn handsome. He's got that lumberjack, rugged look to him. God bless you, Jeff. Mm-hmm. You're a good-looking man. Now Ian wants to hug you. That's all I wanted to say. He wants to give you a Zach Manning hug. That's all I wanted to say. All right, so. And hold the nape of your neck. Jeff Patterson. Jeff Patterson, I love you. All right. And then, so Jeff was there, so we got to meet him. That was very cool, very first time. We already kind of talked about some of the other media personalities that we met, which were all very cool. Yep. What about listeners? We met quite a few listeners. But let's go into listeners. Yes. That's what I want to get into. So we met Sean. Yep, Sean F. For those of you who may or may not remember, a few episodes ago, we tried to shill anything and everything. We're still trying. I'm saying like we did. We only got one shill. We will shill anything for you. That has not changed. And we helped shill Sean's Metallica for $5. Yep. And he caught us. He grabbed us in the hallway. He's like, I owe you $5. He's like, take the monies. Gave us $5. He's like, thanks for Win Schilling my game. And we were just cracking up, dude. And we got a picture with Sean. So, Sean, God bless you, brother. That was pretty damn cool. We met another very enthusiastic fellow, Drew. Yep. Drew Syke. Sync. Sync. Oh, my God. Drew was Canada. Super excited to see us, man. Drew was a blast. He was hilarious, man. He was just really psyched. He was one of my favorites, by the way. Drew, if you're out there listening, you are a ton of fun, and we need to do that again. Yeah, Drew was all smiles, and both Drews were all smiles. We were. We were excited. We were like, oh, we're awesome, excited Drews. It was just fun. I caught myself there. You both were fucking smiling. I meant that you served in front of me, Drew. Drew Bovear was smiling. I was excited because he was so animated about meeting us. Yeah, it was so cool. He walked by and heard the voice, I think, and turned around and saw us. And he's like, you motherfuckers. He got real excited. Yeah. I was like, God bless it. I like this guy. Yeah, bless it right now. It was just so cool meeting him. I like this guy. This guy was pretty damn cool. So Drew, we love you. Thank you, sir. Yeah, there's a picture on it, right? Two Drews and an Ian. Chris the Pinter. Yes. Chris the Pinter. Chris, where were you my whole life, man? You were like my best bud there, dude. He was awesome. We got to have some lunch with him. We had some breakfast with the guy. We chugged a beer with the man. Yeah, we spent quite a bit of time with Chris. Yeah, we played a lot of games with him. We played Elvira with him. We played Star Wars with him. A few other games. But yeah, Chris, super cool dude. Awesome. I can't wait to see him at the next show. Yes, he's like a well-rounded dude. He's awesome. I'm going to seek him out for every show if I ever go to other shows. So I don't know if he goes to MGC. I don't know how much traveling he does, but hopefully we'll see him in MGC. Hopefully we'll see a lot of these people at MGC. Absolutely. And maybe TBF. And maybe. We'll see. I know. I know. Ian's thinking schedules now. He's like, oh, March and April. I'm thinking my wife, dude. My wife keeps a shit on me. No, I know. That's exactly what you're thinking. I can see it in your face. Hey, why don't you hang out with your mom some more, you know? Yeah, just a little sleight of hand. You should go to Madison and visit your family while I sneak out the back door to go to Texas. Yeah. Whatever. All right, Jeff LeGrange, always a long time listener. Always been fun. Yes, Jeff LeGrange and Drew. Yes. The infamous Brian Cosner. Cos, we talked to him for quite a while. Cos is exactly who you think he is. Yes. He is very knowledgeable, even though he is just kind of – he says he kind of got into the hobby a couple years ago or whatever. Yeah, he's humble. He's very humble, right? He's a super humble dude. He's like, I barely know anything, and then he goes on for about 45 minutes about all sorts of shit. He licks his finger, opens up the encyclopedia, pinball. He's smart, man. No, he's awesome. And he's an operator, so he knows that side of the business. Yeah. And he's just such a pleasure to be around. So, Kaz, you were absolutely amazing. Michael Williams. Yes. Damn it, I'm thirsty. Damn it, I'm thirsty. The dude who keeps telling us what to drink at this show, we saw him right outside of Kelton. Yep. And he won the contest, by the way. He snuck up behind me, and he goes, what are you drinking? Yeah, he was the first one to do it, folks. So he won the contest. But then what did he do after that? Well, he is. This was earlier in the day. It was early. This was our first drink, I think, of the day. In poor man's fashion, he pulled out a flask and two shot glasses. Three shot glasses. Plastic shot glasses. Plastic shot glasses. And he had a shot with us. Yep, bourbon. Damn it, Michael. You stud. That started me down my train wreck of a day. Ding. Yeah, no, it was awesome. It was. It was so cool. Because we're just kind of joking, and then he's like, you guys really want a drink? and uh so we had a shot with him and uh talked to him for a while he's he's from madison wisconsin and it's awesome yeah so that was so that was absolutely cool that was very cool thanks thanks again michael and we will be sending you that t-shirt our should be up and running soon yeah we're getting samples made right now as we speak and we have quite a few designs do we want to tell where we'll be able to find those not yet not yet okay not yet i want to see the samples okay chances are it'll be we're probably not going anywhere but i i want to look at the sample so we will probably give you an update maybe in a week so other than that um anyone else can you think of uh do we miss any listeners sean michael drew who else there's a few guys out there we got a lot of high fives and haze and what's going on i love your podcast we were uh because we have at least 10 million people that listen to us every week felt like that though yes i felt like we are we just have a lot of cool a lot of cool guys. So many great people there, and I'm really excited to go back and stay up right this time. Yeah, I'd like to try a few more days, I think. Yeah, do the two days or potentially the three days. I wasn't expecting the party room nightlife that there was. Yes. We didn't really talk about that, but Room 330 was the king of the show. They had pinball machines in this party room. JJ from Game Exchange in Colorado. They had cocktails, and it was... He had five or six games set up in this room. Yeah, dude, it was awesome. Plus an Elvira. Yeah, it's one of them. And don't listen to Twip, by the way. Zach Menny's wife, Nicole, I love her to death. She was super sweet the entire time I was talking to her, but she did not beat us on Elvira. She might have beat Drew. That was pretty much guaranteed. I made a few shots. There was no way in hell she beat me because I came back and I rocked it hard. And she got up in my face a little bit. She got a little sassy. She goes, oh, you're one of those guys that won't let women win. And I said, because I'm sassy too. I'm like, fuck yeah. You're like, because I never win at pinball, so I need to take the opportunity. Bitch, you didn't beat me once in Expo, so I don't know what you're talking about. You didn't kick my ass up. Your Star Wars was lame. Your Star Wars game was lame. Your Elvira game was lame. what other games did we play together you played a magic castle I did play a magic castle I forgot all about that and I actually I asked it was for sale but he had already traded it so yeah alright well let's wrap it up there alright you guys we're at the hour mark thank you very much and we'll see you next week when we talk about other stuff we got stuff in the works man alright thank you peace out
