## Transcript

I don't know. Hello, Pinfolk. It's Monday, the 15th of November, 2021, and this is NYC Pin Pod, in which a dude talks competitive pinball in New York City. My name is Eric Sweetland, and I run and play in tournaments locally. On this week's podcast, I'll run down local competition results. Let's get started. Let's get this nightmare started. Let's talk about last week's pinball competition in New York City. In Pinball NYC on Monday, November 8th in the Upper Playfield Division, the Terrorists came up to The Wallace to visit our New York City Flipper Sport Association. The Terrorists won a momentous 10-6 away win, becoming the first team to ever win away at our home venue. Balls of Steel visited Team Is the Shit at Jack Bar, and Balls of Steel got the 8-8 tiebreak win. The Mutants traveled to Kettle of Fish to see the Cartel. The Mutants win 13-3. And Chillers Only went to Owl Farm to see Parliament. Chillers Only also got an 8-8 away tiebreak win. Also on Monday, in the Left Flipper Division, the Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers hosted Special When Lit at Brookland. The home team won 10-6. The Lesser Players traveled to Skylark to see Tilty Pleasures. Tilty Pleasures win 9-7. The Pin Pals got their 12-0 forfeit win over Intermission Dolores at Commonwealth. And the Aristocrats won 10 over the Colliders at Buttermilk Bar. No results have yet been reported for the Deluxe Horses against the Two for Oners at McKenna Pub. On Tuesday November 9th in the Right Flipper Division, Pennister Six hosted Ball Drainers at Boat Bar. Ball Drainers got the 8-8 tiebreak win. Danger Danger traveled to Jack Bar to see Schlubbs. Schlubbs win 10-6. No Moving Parts came to Buttermilk Bar to see our Butterballers, we got the 10-6 home win, and it looks like Ball Me Maybe couldn't make the travel to Milo's Yard to visit Neptune's Treasure. Neptune's Treasure has a 12-0 forfeit win. Also on Tuesday, in the Right In-Lane Division, the most remarkable set of results I have ever seen in Pinball NYC. All four matches went to a tiebreak. All four tiebreaks went to the home team. Jersey Jack and the Jackpots went to Midway. You with the Face won the tiebreak. The Monroe Falcons went to the Coyote Club where the Pin Babes won their home tiebreak. The Trolls went to Kettle of Fish where Kettle's Hand Grenades won the home tiebreak. And Dead Rabbits went to Barcade Brooklyn where Tied for Last had a home tiebreak win. A notice was sent out this week from League Commissioner Chris Medina on the format of playoffs, which will begin the week of November 29th, immediately after the regular season. As in the past, the Upper Playfield trophy will consist of six of the eight teams playing in three rounds with the first two seeds having a first round bye. The Lower Playfield trophy will have the top four teams in both the Left Flipper and Right Flipper make playoffs. The top winner from each division will meet in a final to be taking place on a Tuesday. And the Right In-Lane trophy will have the top six of eight teams make the playoffs with seeds one and two having a bye. The end-of-season party and awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 16th at Solid State. After eight weeks of play, the Pinball NYC standings look like this. In the Upper Playfield, the Mutants are 7-1 with 85 points, and Terrorists are 6-2 with 80 points. Both those teams have secured places in the playoffs. Currently in the playoff picture but not guaranteed our New York City Flipper Sport Association is 5-3 with 75 points and Balls of Steel are 5-3 with 68 points. Looking to make up some ground the Cartel are 4-4 with 54 points, and Chillers Only are 3-5 with 61 points. Now eliminated from the playoff contention, Team Is the Shit are 2-6 with 50 points, and Parliament remains winless with 39 points. In the Left Flipper Division, Special When Lit is guaranteed a spot in the playoffs they are 7-1 with 87 points. On the upside of the line at the moment the Pin Pals are 6-2 with 71, the Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers are 5-3 with 72 and Tilty Pleasures are 5-3 with 67 points. Looking to get above that line the Two for Oners and the Aristocrats are missing results, so we're not sure what their point totals are, but they are either 5-3 or 4-4 apiece. The Deluxe Horses are 3-4 with 54 points. The Colliders are 3-5 with 62. Knocked out of the running this time, the Lesser Players are 2-6 with 57 points, and Intermission Dolores remain the bottom. No wins, no points. In the Right Flipper Division, Neptune's Treasure have guaranteed themselves a spot in the playoffs at 7-1 with 85 points. Ball Drainers are 6-2 with 73, Danger Danger 5-3 with 75, and Butterballers 5-3 at 62. Looking to get in? No Moving Parts 4-4 at 59 points, and Schlubbs 3-5 with 49 points. Not going to make it this year. Pennister Six are 1-7 with 61 points, and Ball Me Maybe are 1-7 with 44 points. In the Right In-Lane Division, the Monroe Falcons are 7-1 with 85 points. Kettle's Hand Grenades are 7-1 with 73 points. The Pin Babes are 5-3 with 67 points. Jersey Jack and the Jackpots are 4-4 with 65 points. You with the Face are 4-4 with 54 points. Tied for Last are 3-5 with 56 points. Playing it out for fun, Trolls are 1-7 with 56 points and Dead Rabbits are 1-7 with 52 points. On Wednesday November 10th the second meeting of the Stern Army NYC Match Play Pinball League played out at Jack Bar under the direction of Greg Pavarelli. This week, after five rounds, once again Adam Kame came out on top with 23 points. Tied for second place with 19 points, Gabriel Chazanov, John Ehrlich, and Nitsan Gabai. There will be one final week of qualifying before finals are held on November 24th, alongside a standalone flip frenzy open to anyone. Looking ahead to this week's NYC pinball calendar. It's time to play! On Monday and Tuesday, Pinball NYC teams will be traveling all over the place. On Wednesday, November 17th, the third meeting of the Stern Army NYC Match Play Pinball League will be held at 8 p.m. And on Sunday, November 21st, the second half of this month's Stern Army Sunday Match Play at Jack Bar will be held at 2 p.m. Seven rounds of group play will be added to the first meeting for final IFPA results, but money and prizes will be awarded to anyone who does well at this meeting. That's all for this week's pod. I'm Eric Sweetland. My initials are HIP, and I am co-captain of Team NYC FSA and a member of the Butterballers. I made this podcast with the help of Benjamin Furiga and Lauren Berner-Lawrence, and hopefully a growing number of you in the NYC pinball community. Please send me your competition results, questions, comments, observations, beefs, or calendar invitations to your pinball events to nycpinpod at gmail.com. Like the podcast on social media at nyc pin pod. On next week's podcast I'll run down this week's local competition results. Between now and then eschew needlessly gendered bathrooms and happy flipping.
