## Transcript

Hello. Hello. Welcome back to the Punkrockpinball podcast. I'm Stephanie. I'm Mike. And this is it. This is our show. This is what we do. It's what we do on Sunday nights. Yeah, it's a Sunday night show. And what are we going to talk about today? Well, today we are going to talk about what makes a really great pinball location like a place where you go and play pinball. Maybe that's your house. Maybe it's, you know, a bar in your town or an arcade or anywhere that has pinball machines. What makes it a really great experience? Cool. And then we'll give some Updated later on the Punkrockpinballassociation, the PRPA at the end. Yeah, we had some cool news about the PRPA. So if you're looking for Punkrockpinballassociation info, stick around till the end. Doing this for Cam Cameron. Cameron. And yeah, so we're going to get into the topic. What makes a pinball location great? What's the most important? There are several things that make for there. I haven't been to many pinball locations that are like bad because they have pinball. Yeah, and pinball is fun. Even if something to be desired. Yeah, even if like a pinball machine is like totally out of whack, like maybe one of the upper flippers doesn't work or I don't know, it's some broken targets. It's still kind of fun to play anyways. Yeah. Except for that one place that we went to when you had a rock show and there weren't Crapman, Black Water, Kaneda's Pinball Podcast, Twippies Awards, transliteelectronic This week in the Facebook group, our friend Kat did a post that she was playing somewhere and she was a little upset about the setup of the games. And I think it got fixed pretty quickly. Because you know what, when the number one PRP player in the world has a beef, people react. The most what's the top for going in order? I mean games pinball machines that have all the working pieces. Right, like the pinball machines for a pinball location are the main attraction, right? So they have to work. And it's a bonus if they're clean. It is a lot more fun to play a clean game. So working games, clean games. So if If you have a location or if you have games on route at locations, it's worth it to go and like clean your playfield once in a while. It's just way more fun if the playfield is nice and clean and shiny. Yeah, and the game's level. And the level games is I think a big, big one. Mm-hmm. Like if we're talking to make the best pinball location, your games need to mostly all work. Be level. Be level, be clean. Hithere 갑자기man sprints Internetsastianis WednesanteII territorialotine The game's are the most important thing regardless of anything else you have going on. Anything else about the atmosphere, the environment, games, number one. What would be number two? Well, I would want the, like the vibe in the place to be cool and fun. Mm-hmm. What makes for a vibe? I mean, you and I both have like an issue with lighting. Yeah. Like, we're kind of particular about lighting. Yeah. We're going to go in a few weeks. We'll have to look. Yeah, well, we'll have an announcement on that shortly. Pinball and Perry in Indiana. We're going to do a thing out there. Mm hmm. Uh, but lighting is huge. Like we used to play at Landmark in Peoria and like that everywhere there, especially that back room was like way too dark. And I'm trying to think like you play at Joe and Shelly's house. It's pretty nice lighting. Do you like to have music? Do you like to have no music or loud music, soft music? I think a little music in the background but not too loud. But speaking of audio, I love it when there are the volume control knobs. Yeah. So when I get the Godzilla multiball I can turn it up really loud. Crank it up. Love to do that. The first Friday tournament that we do at the movie theater, the Golden Ticket movie theater. I like to turn up jaws real loud. And like, if it hopefully, I'm like, the third or fourth player, and I turn it up as loud as I can. And then I leave it like that. I like to do that on jobs there. Turn it down before I leave. And we don't have business hours. Like we're not open every day. Most days there's like somebody playing in there, but like one or two people. So our games are and then it's just the leagues and the tournaments are they're getting heavy play. And stuff breaks all the time. Thank heaven for Jeff. Yeah. Like stuff breaks all the time. Like we had our last league was the very first league where all all the machines were up and running for the league. Including close encounters. Including close encounters. I love that game. It's fun. So it is a huge challenge because some of the places I'm thinking about that have like the worst games like they're open every day. Playing at Joe and Shelley's for league this week, I was on Bond, I guess last This week for the ladies, I forgot how much I really like that game. And their bond just shoots so great. Because if you have mid games, right? But good people. In a mid vibe and like great people, then it's going to be fun. It's going to be awesome. You'll just make do with the games as they are. I think they do tournaments and stuff. So I like that place a lot. I've played a couple other places around Milwaukee, but like that's the place I like to go to. I think most people into pinball have heard of that. Like 300 some pinball machines, almost all of them work. They're great. I think one of the kind of coolest places I've, it was I think Roxy's in in or near Boston and I've talked about them on the channel where they had a fantastic fried chicken sandwich mm-hmm up front and then I went back into into the back to play the pinball they probably had the best shooting the most dialed in like uncanny X-Men I've ever played like every shot on the game worked as it was intended fe实 weekendspediment, R irrons komma innnneed %YTOY Rama bZ frequencieszee 3, fatso5FPPQ It's a game that's on the level with Pinball and Perry where everything is set up. So, Roxy's and Pinball and Perry are probably a couple of my top two. We need to get to some of these locations in Madison. Yeah, they sound awesome. Like the kickback and IO host a ton of our tournaments. I want to get up there and play those. Okay, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, if you're ever going through there, maybe on your way up to Minneapolis. Mm-hmm on our last episode. We talked about some fun different formats we talked about fun things to do for people that didn't do well like have the bottom four players do like a one game playoff to win a payout and Joe and Shelley did that last night. That's so cool. And I was among the bottom four on purpose The one that played against did play great. Well, there's a lot of great players that most of them are all very good players at least. And so they're like, either they're gonna blow up the game or you're going to blow it up. And I shot some decent ones. I can look at you and say, look at howBro our past life has been changing over the past year when the cycling routine was used to create elderly and corresponds to kill time. So what that says for our leaderboard, I don't know, but Kat and I had a tough day. Well, Kat's, she's at HQ right now. Oh, she is, isn't she? Mm hmm. Hope they're having fun. I'm sure they are. Probably jamming on Houdini. They're probably thankful that we took the garbage out. Yeah, the garbage was stinky. Mm hmm. We don't drink so I forget that like when there's a bunch of beer cans and garbage it smells bad yeah well cuz we don't deal with that at the house mm-hmm so yeah it's clean now for those of you who care yes fresh fresh scents everything's wiped down but I gotta say doing the payout the one match of the bottom four players to win something I think the four of us had The end of the week was a fun time in that match. Who else was in it? It was me and Kat and Aubrey and her father Scott. This was his first tournament? It was his first tournament ever. That's cool. I think he had about as many wins as I did. Well, he did good then. It was like my 101st tournament. But yeah, I was having a bad day, but I think we had an enjoyable match. I think it was a nice way for the people that got our asses kicked all for two and a half hours to play each other and have a fun one last fun match. Like I think we should do that. Moving Moving forward. With regularity. Yeah. Yeah. All right, let's do it. All right. I hope to not participate in that match very often. But I think it's cool that like I did feel better going home after winning that we're like I did something. Well, congratulations. Congratulations to you. Yeah. So this week we've got Joe and Shelley's league on Monday. Champagne league on Tuesday. Yep. Our league on Thursday. Yep. First Friday on Friday. Oh boy. Then on Saturday. We have nothing. Okay. Sunday. We have the second Sunday at poor bros. Really? Yeah. So we've got five. And I'm out of town. I won't be back till Friday. So I've got four without you. I'll try to make all of those. You have to get to champagne. I just worry about the dog. We just talked about this. He's gonna be sad. Marshall's going to be sad. Whenever one of us is out of town. He's depressed.
