## Transcript

All get around, he's on the rebound, hear the sound of our buddy, oh lordy, it's Orby, pinball now to rejoice, he's tugging pinball, craft beer and coffee, mixed with syrup and honey, he hopes to laugh with his family in a random tangent, stories of his boys, he's on the poor man's pod network, we're gonna get more listeners, Welcome back, Pinball Nerds, to episode 647 of your fifth favorite pinball podcast. My name is Orbital Albert, and on today's episode, I'm going to be giving you just some tips for Expo. That's right. Now, I know a lot of you are already there. It is Thursday. It has begun. It is day one of Expo. But as Albert does often, and especially Orby, I'm a little bit late to the game. So I just wanted to give you, I didn't want to be tone deaf to the fact that I hadn't put out a non-Expo show leading up to it. I usually do. So I want to talk about three different types of Expo things, okay? We are partway into day one, so it's only going to be the hard hardest of hardcore nerds that we'll even hear this in the next 72 hours before Expo ends. So for those of you hardcore nerds, you're going to get a little step up for listening to this on time because I'm also at the very end of the show going to give the five. So don't go running yet. If you're not going to Expo, don't worry. That's okay. At the very end of the show, I'm going to actually – sorry, I have ten. I have ten content creators here that I absolutely love. And if you get a selfie with any of them, you're going to get one point. And what does that one point give you? A point towards being the pin turn of the year for Expo. That's right. The pinball nerd, the PNP, Pinball Nerds Podcast, pin turn of the year. That's right. So next year, you might have to square off against whoever wins at TPF and whoever wins at Expo next year. But for this year, you can find out at the very end of the show how, why, and where. I even have some bonuses how, why, and where you could do it. Oh, I got to add Joe. I almost forgot about the dote, guys. You never forget about the dote himself. All right. So there you go. Maybe 11, 11 people. Okay. So the other thing I want to talk about is just some really cool survival techniques. I know what you're thinking. Orby, you've never been to Expo. I don't care. I love doing top five lists, so I'm going to count down top five ways to survive without getting too partied out. You don't want to be like that dude in Wayne's World, right? Because if you're going to spew, spew in this. But you don't want to spew in a beautiful pinball machine, do you? Unless it's Alice. Alice in Wonderland? Either of them. You could spew on both of them. No one would care. I'm sorry. No, the nicest thing about the big Alice, the full-size Alice, is probably certain aspects of how it looks, even though I don't like a lot of the artwork. But anyways, we are also going to talk about DPX, DPX, DPX. We are going to be talking about some information that Melvin Williams released today and Jason Knapp of Knapp's Arcade was kind enough to put up there. So I'm going to actually go over that news release. It's very interesting. we've got some information information about and this is to quote him his future release his when they're going to go back to his future release so melvin williams himself multiple times hinted to back to the future being the next pinball machine after the now announced raza that's right and i have thoughts but first i want to talk about some ways to cope some ways to uh you know, get through and not only get through, but get through it and love it. Now, the first things first, how can I be giving you tips if I've never been to Expo? First of all, I've done 14-hour live streams on the Pinball Nerds Podcast Twitch channel, which I just got a payout from, which is so crazy. I had $52 left over sitting in there and they emailed me and they're like, yeah, you've been sitting on this money too long. We got to send it to you, bro. They had to get it off their books. So shout out to everybody who subscribed to me and was part of my Twitch thing as well. That was so cool. I do want to go back to doing that someday. Yeah, someday, someday. And that day is probably not going to be anytime soon because, as mentioned on my non-paywalled show with my wife over there, the WTF happened in the last month. You can go listen to that for free. That's over on the Pimble Nerds podcast Patreon page. And if you're trying to look it up, it's very hard to look up when you're actually on Patreon. It's not listed under the pinball stuff because I have it rated for mature. So we can talk about rated R type stuff, but that means it's not on that page. So you're going to have to go through the link or just ask me if you have me on Facebook or simply send me a quick email telling me how much you love my show, you hate my show, what I could do better at pinballnerds at gmail.com. And I will fire you off a link, direct link to my super secret Patreon where you can go listen to my non-paywalled chat with my wife who people are loving. Not just her, of course. I mean, hopefully, yes, of course, but also loving the show, and I've got some really good feedback about that as well, and thanks to all of you who've given me feedback on that. Also, let's just jump right into it. Let's just jump right into it. Okay, this first piece of advice, I never, ever, ever thought that I'd be telling other grown adults my biggest secret for not just – this isn't for pinball tournaments. You all have to remember I also run a very small tea and coffee company called Angry Alpaca, and I do market after market after market. My wife and I counted. We did over 70 markets in one year, and then we probably averaged around 40 to 45 markets, festivals, food fests, five-day festivals. All of these things are in arenas where you're on your feet, and usually there's no carpeting. Well, how do I survive? How do I do that? We're not talking four to six hours on concrete like most of you all are going to be at Expo. I'm talking 12 hours a day on my feet working, making coffee, doing whatever. Well, the secret's in the shoes, okay? You could get some of those hokas. Hokas are really, really, really good. Hokas are like super foam, very thick heels. But I'll tell you the truth. There's nothing like Yeezys. And I'm not a Kanye West fan, okay? I'm obviously not. I mean, I used to like his music a long time ago. I'm just saying, you don't have to go buy brand new Yeezys and support him, of course. I don't even know if they sell them anymore. But go get those really, really thick. It's like you're floating on air. They're way, way, way more comfortable than Crocs. Crocs are about the worst thing you can wear. They have the least ankle support and cushioning. But the Yeezys themselves are like floating on air. They're very easy to walk in. Some people will get mad at you because your dogs are out there barking. They can see your toes. They won't like that. The foot fetish people will love you. The other people will hate you, you know. But what I'm suggesting is in this one time, I'll give you a pass. I'll let you wear socks with those sandals. No, you still can't do that. You got, okay. But the Yeezys are really thick. They're great for your feet. Spend, okay. And then this is another tip too. I've learned this from doing conventions for years and years and years. Hello, I just waved to my neighbor going, bye. How are you guys doing? This is a big tip for you though. Every time you see a seat, take it. every time you see a seat take it if there's an open seat just sit for five minutes if you're in the middle of talking to someone just say oh come on over here for a second and maybe more importantly each and every opportunity you have a chance to squat i can tell you as a guy who's done 14 to 16 hour uh bruce trail hikes straight you need to squat so by going down on your knees if you can Now, if you've never squat in your life, okay, I am not a doctor. I am not a doctor. I am not a physician. Surprise, surprise. But squatting just does all this stuff where it stretches at the same time your knees, your hips, and your ankles, and your lower back, okay? And then squatting and then also putting your arms straight out like that as well. Also, it not only does help you with balance. So, again, you don't have to do this like in front of everyone. You can do it in your hotel room or something. If you don't want to look like a dork, I get it. You can do a simple, you know, if your neck is hurting or whatever, you can do a simple routine even where you're laying on your bed in your hotel where you just lean your neck back further. But more importantly, that's all boring. Who cares about your legs? Who cares about your neck? You only live once. YOLO. Get out there. Have a blast at Expo. Okay? Go over to the poor man's pinball booth and buy something. Why would you not? Okay? Now, listen. To the 27 of you that are over there on Patreon, you don't have to go. You already support me financially. I really appreciate that. But to every other one of you listeners, quite a few of my shows now are hitting 400 again, which is nice because they were a little lower than that for a while. I'm really glad that y'all are enjoying it. But to any of you, there's got to be at least 100 of you listening right now that are going to be going to Expo, I would guess, go over there to the Poor Man's Pimmo booth and buy stuff from their awesome yard sale. Who knows? You might even get a free shot. I don't know if they're still doing that, but maybe. I don't want to suggest that they are. Maybe that was at MGC. I don't know. Maybe it was at Minecraft. I'm not sure. But every single chance that you have an opportunity to sit, you sit. Wear comfortable shoes. Do not wear Converse One this one time. Do not wear, like, even for God's sake, like, some really cool, even a lot of skater shoes or Ennies or anything like that. this is the time when you wear you don't wear the new balance like the soccer dad shoes or whatever like you're cutting the lawn but at least wear like running shoes would be better you know don't go for style this one time don't be wearing penny loafers or like some don't be trying to be a fashionista when you're there this is the one the one thing you can nerd out on a little bit is your shoes everything else can look cool but you wear some comfortable freaking shoes uh and and just before we get into the drinking, the more fun part, let's be honest, get over there at Stern because Stern's got that comfortable rug. And even if it's not a comfortable rug, it's going to feel like a comfortable rug on your feet after standing on concrete for hours. And the good news is even if you're not going to this expo, maybe you're going to TPF in the future. Maybe you're going to MGC. Maybe you work at a job where you're on concrete floors. And just one of these little tidbits helped you because is this all common sense? Yes. But I really wanted to do a show today. I wanted to feel like I was part of Expo in some small way. And this is what I got, guys. This is what I got. Not that it's a slow news day, because there is a lot of news. But we're going to get that in a second. What I will say is also, as someone who's got way too drunk way too early at many different events when I shouldn't have, I've learned a rule that has stuck by me fairly well. You can still, believe me, you can still mess up. But I have a rule of, I do just at these things. Okay, maybe I do like one shot of Malort just to say I did it, but I just say no to shots all day long because you go to like a wedding, you go to like well even a funeral on one half of my family side that likes to party you know what I mean You go to like you go to a big expo event like this any type of work thing Everybody's asking you to do shots all the time. And if you say yes all the time, you're just cooked. Because never at home, maybe you're always drinking vodka at home. You're drinking rye or you're drinking tequila. Very rarely at home are you switching back and forth between all these different alcohols and they're messing up in your belly. And so my advice would be stick to beer. it doesn't always have to be low abv like you can have an ipa like a six percenter or something like that but you know stick to fairly low abv beer uh if wine's your jam or cider fine but again i would stay away from the shots and while we're talking about alcohol the other thing i like to do is i like to go beer water and it doesn't have to be water but don't make make sure it's not like a freaking energy drink every time it can be like beer water food beer energy drink food beer yeah you get the point. Don't be having sugar every time in between either. You're going to freaking crash. Something with electrolytes, like a Gatorade, a Powerade, a Zero Sugar one, something like that. Anyways, my point is, and the food doesn't have to be like huge. It can be a slice of pizza you stole off someone's table while you're running through. It can be like peanuts you just, I like to buy, like I like to stop at a variety store before I go and I think, what? Snacks. You don't want to get like baked goods and stuff they're going to squish in your pocket, okay don't be going in there with tater tots you're not napoleon dynamite are you come on geez napoleon all right so but no i like those little packs of peanuts um a chocolate bar can be okay depending on what it is or like something that can't get squished like James Rees's pieces or smarties or you know m&m's something like that they melt in your hand not your mouth so grab yourself something like that and then also over and above that i think it's really important to actually get real food in you the very first time that you start to feel a little bit of a buzz it doesn't matter if you're three four or five drinks in you're starting to feel a little woozy and it's not eight nine ten eleven o'clock at night you want to be able to rip and roar for a bit longer you get a full meal into you boom hit it with that full meal go get that go get like not just a little slice of pizza but go get like you know if you can something greasy and something with a lot of carbs the more carbohydrates are in there i'm normally like a keto type guy or at least I like to skip the stone and do keto once or twice a week. I do intermittent fasting at least four to five times a week. So I like all that stuff. But also, I freaking love burgers. And I'm sorry, I've tried it with the unbun. I've tried it with the most expensive keto bun on planet Earth. I will not eat a cheeseburger on an unbun. I'll just, no, it's a no bun to me. Thank you. It's got to be, there's got to be carbohydrates in there. I can't be doing the whole wheat buns. Come on. Anyways, this is not a food show. Another thing I would like you to do is prioritize. Prioritize people over pinball this one time. So what does that mean? That means that if you have the opportunity to go over and spend even 30 seconds, you don't have to talk for 15 minutes with every person you meet. In fact, if you do that, you won't get through there. But just one or two minutes of genuine connection to someone can really count. hey it's so nice to see you or I've never met you before it's nice you know after all these conversations make sure a you get a picture a lot of people forget to get pictures this is a I know not really a survival thing but I've gone to these these shows and at the end of the day you met like 20 people I know even my good buddy Joe Silvaggi came all the way from Ontario to play an awesome tournament mostly to hang out with his daughter Katina I'm sure but also partially to see me and check out like the Fredericton Flippin's Arcade at Dylan's there that's this Saturday, by the way, two days from now, the 18th, we will be at Flippin's. Hayden and Owen and I are going. It happens to be the same day that the University of New Brunswick's Fredericton campus is their, what do you call that, their open house, their walkthrough. So Hayden and I get to go do that with Owen. And then hopefully we might, I mean, we might miss warmups. I guess I can miss warmups if I had to for my son's university, right? He's pretty sure he wants to go to the St. John campus, but because he got into the UNBC, it means he can go to either campuses, and he's not 100% sure which campus he'd like to go to yet, so he's going to go tour that one with us. It just happens to be on the same day, what we call a happy quinketing, but what I was saying is Joe Selvaggi came all the way from Ontario, and we were so busy that day, and I was running around, and I just didn't think to get a selfie, and then he ended up getting a little bit tired because obviously he had driven for like 18 hours the day before, and by the time that I ended up going to finals somehow and reluctantly by the time we end up getting to the restaurant they were at, he was exhausted and wanted to go home and I never got a selfie with him and I always felt bad about that. So like don't forget your phones there. Grab a quick selfie. 99% of the time someone's going to want a selfie with you if you want one with them. Like not 99% but like, you know, most of the time. Anyways, yeah, go have a great time. Eat lots of food. Allow yourself to, you know, probably, you know, maybe make that belt buckle a little bigger. You're probably going to have a lot of salty foods and a lot of processed foods for a couple days. In the long and the short of it, like what are you going to do? You're going to show up with like freaking pretzels and these pretzels are making me thirsty. Seinfeld reference. No, are you going to show up with like carrots all pre-chopped up and hummus to dump it in? I mean, hummus, is baba ghanoush? Have a little bit of carrot there with baba ghanoush? No, that'd be great. But like that's not what Expo's about. It's about going out to Giordano's and eating pizza so fatty and so thick that your heart just, it just like misses a beat for a second. You know what I mean? Yeah. So I'm just, I'm wishing I was there. But at the same time, I did sell off a big portion of, I honestly have almost no cards that are even in the $100 range anymore. I got rid of all my big boys. I'm completely out. I have not spent a penny on eBay in a week, guys. No, no, not in weeks. That's a lie. A payment came through about seven days ago. So, yeah, I haven't spent a penny in about a week now, which for me is actually a record on eBay. And, of course, why would I be spending money on there if I'm no longer a collectibles dealer? But that's neither here nor there. The last thing I want to – I really, really, really want to push through is at least on night one, maybe not night two, but at least on night one, you prioritize your sleep. and that means if you have to go back even for a 20-minute cat nap, I swear to God, sometimes you're tired like a 9 out of 10. You can feel in the afternoon, mid-afternoon, you just need a 20-minute cat nap. Don't be the dude who's like too prideful to go for that 20-minute cat nap because then at midnight when everyone's going to the awesome after party with all the pinball machines in the hotel room and the karaoke and the high-fiving and the party party, the real party begins, you're going to be so exhausted you'll have to go back to the hotel room at midnight. and at the same time if you have to that's fine because either way it doesn't matter if you have to go for little nappies or little seepies it doesn't matter what you do but on that first night try to get like six solid hours of sleep you don't have to be like the first one back to bed but you don't want to party so hard the first day i've heard about multiple people doing this they just the whole second day was like torture when you have a bang and smash and pounding headache i don't even know why i'm saying this on a thursday show that i'm releasing probably no one listens Thursday night. But basically, Thursday night and Friday night, I would say if you're staying till Sunday to just prioritize getting some really good sleep so that you can actually enjoy the next day. Because remember, being very tired and or very hungover is the least fun way to be in like a big hall with loud machines and bright lights. And for me personally, running into people and having to talk to them or socialize when I'm hungover or tired, No, thank you. It goes from being like, yeah, that'd be so fun. I'd love to meet this person, this person, this person. And I'm going to name 10 of them, 11 of them at the end of the show, how you could become the Pimble Nerds podcast Pinter of the Year. Now let's jump into this news. I'm going to bring up so I can actually quote it properly. I can see Draco Franchi over there looking a little bored. It's been raining all day here, which is great because we've had a drought for so long. So the rain is good. It prevents chances of forest fires and such. But Draco Franchi is a little bit bored. He's laying over there on the ground. I can tell he's going to be getting the yips in a bit, so I better move on here. So this was, thank you so much to Jason Knapp who released this today, Dutch Pinball exclusive announcement and announces title of next game, Alice Production Update. So I'm going to read through here very quickly. Let me grab my little drinkies here. Guys, I lost my glasses like a week ago, and I haven't been able to find them, and I only have one pair of glasses, and I really want my glasses to play this pinball tournament this weekend because I really need a win or at least a top three or top four so I can get a little bit higher and have a shot at provincials. Could you imagine if somehow, someway I won provincials twice? I mean, I probably won't because Jaden's like twice as good as me and Dylan's at least, well, I thought, like last year, I thought I was nearly as good as him. I no longer think that anymore. He's second in the province now. Certainly on his machines, he's at least twice as good as me. But let me have a little sip-sip here. and we're going to go through this. Okay. So thanks to everyone who has reached out to me with the news and pictures from Pinball Expo. The presentation has begun. At this year's presentations have begun. At this year's Expo, I expected to hear new game announcements from two manufacturers, the French manufacturer, Hexa. Okay, that's still coming. And Dutch Pinball Exclusives, also known as DPX. D.P.X.'s Melvin Williams gave his presentation this morning. Several interesting new guys came out of his talk. Most interestingly, he announced D.P.X.'s next game will be the infamous John Papadukes and Deep Roots. Oh, gosh. I don't know which one of those two people I dislike more. Pinball game Retro Atomic Zombie Adventureland, a.k.a. Raza. Guys, I've been covering the hobby long enough to have seen Raza go from this to that to this to that. Oh, my lordy. dutch pinball exclusive plans to produce 333 raza units that that's less than the 500 alice in wonderlands and that that it is committed to make raza will have an interactive okay i don't need to know any of this i don't need to know any of this number of changes to the game that seems good the ramps particularly pertaining to the ramps therefore the ramps should be easier yada yada yada that all seems good speaking of alice they're halfway done i'll believe when i see it but uh Okay, so let's just see here. So this is the important part at the bottom I wanted to read to you. This is, it could be argued it's tied selling, but I don't know. It's more of a loyalty program. I don't really know. But customers who have not received their game by January do have the right to cancel their order. However, DPX announced a perk to entice people to stick with them. Anyone who has purchased and received an Alice game will be bumped to the front of the line for Dutch Pinball's next major release, which is likely to be based on the iconic 1985 film Back to the Future. Melvin anticipated that the game will be officially announced around the time of Pinball Expo 2026. Wow. So wait, let me get that straight. if you bought an Alice in Wonderland from DPX, you're first in line to get which most likely, according to Jason Knapp of Knapp's Arcade, is 1985 film Back to the Future Everybody and their mom and Joe mama they know that Back to the Future is my favorite theme of all time Yes. More than Back to the Future. Or sorry, more than Back to the Future. More than Pokemon. Seriously, maybe more than Tony Hawk. It'd be right up there with Tony Hawk. You know what I mean? So Back to the Future. My wife and I had our Stag and Doe. It was Back to the Future themed. We actually got Ticketmaster to print us. Yes, you can use Ticketmaster for even doing small things. I think we did 100 tickets for our stag and doe. I think that's the minimum. But they look so cool to this day. I think we still have one ticket left that we got back from someone. And my wife also perfectly painted a hand-drawn hoverboard. We did all Back to the Future themed stuff. We had one of the – not the official hat, but you know what I mean. Anyways, I love Back to the Future. I have seen Back to the Future 2 a record 100 times. And the last 50 times I watched it, I was attempting to break down good, bad, differential time theories, problems with the shooting, problems with the editing. I don't know why. I basically – I don't know why. I just kept watching that over and over. Well, I kind of know why now. I'm learning about myself more and more, and I kind of think I know why I watch it so many times. But I don't know for sure. And I don't want to come to any conclusions. But I absolutely love watching it. I was younger, too. I was like in college or high school. So, you know, this is something I do all the time. But I have thoughts, first of all, on Raza. Then we'll talk about the idea of Back to the Future. First of all, I wish Raza would just die and go away. Deep Root already ripped people off of it. So it leaves a bad taste in your mouth as it is. And then, you know, the owner, Robert Mueller, I believe, of Deep Root ripped off a whole bunch of people not just with the deposits for the game but like i think like i don't quote me okay in minecraft 30 million 40 million 50 million dollars us that's like almost 100 million dollars canadian or like 75 or 80 or something like that he ripped off a lot of people and i will use the term ripped off loosely because i don't think it's wait didn't he get didn't he get proven in a court of law i don't know i think he did maybe but i don't know yet anyways it appears as if I will say in my opinion that he may have not been open and honest when he was taking people's money. So because of that, I just feel like – and then the John Papadiuk thing. It's almost like once you have dueling ghosts behind you like that. It's just – I don't know, man. I just – I think it has so much wrong going for it. I don't want to be part of it. I've said before I kind of like the artwork on it. I've said before I like how whimsical it is. I do find John Papadiuk's machines interesting and kind of cool and have some neat mechs. But I don't want to support him, and I definitely don't want to support Deep Root. I know no money is going directly to Deep Root or anything like that, but those people haven't made whole. Like all the people who – I think even Jeff Teolos had a $1,000, $500 deposit down on Raza, tons of other content creators, tons of other people that you would have known and heard of and that are in pinball. And even I think – I wouldn't be shocked if even distros were screwed on that stuff. I have no clue. but I know that I just it's not that cool of a game that need to be brought back from the dead it's not that nice looking it's not that fun the pin bar wasn't that interesting it didn't change the game that much I guess they are bringing the pin bar back but it's going to be underneath the glass and you can no longer touch it or something so then what's even the point of having it there I don't really know but it will sell and I'll tell you this this is why it will sell that's all I'm going to say about this. It will sell for one reason and one reason only. And that one reason is 333. I even think they can make my favorite number 420 of these and it would still be fine and sell out. I don't even think they could get away with the 525 of the Winchester Mystery House. I can't say it normal. Just try saying, oh yeah, I'm just heading down to the Winchester Mystery house you can't do it but then you're like and next we're going to the winchester mystery house okay i don't know anyways let me have a little sip skis of my drink skis here my little cocktail there we go so look i am not excited for raza i'm very very very excited to see what Back to the Future looks like. And can you believe if it's Enzo and Mai's very first – I was talking to my boy Enzo there in Australia. We kind of agreed that we got to try our best next year to both go because both of us kind of wanted to go this year and it didn't happen for reasons for both of us. And, you know, next year we're going to both try to make it. So that's our new commitment. And I would feel very bad for only one person if that were true, and that person is Ryan Barry because he came all the way from Australia this year and he's going to be like, yo, you guys go the year after I go? Come on. I'm sorry, Ryan. I didn't know my son was going to get into college university. I kind of did, but I didn't know for sure. I also didn't know I was going to kind of be like, I don't know, like just not effective at being a collectibles dealer anymore. They're just like, I don't know if I'm too old for it. I don't know. I don't know. I kind of feel like a failure a little bit, but you know what's not a failure is how well this Patreon has been going. I'm up to $177 a month, which is just incredible. I'm still waiting. I did all my tax information stuff. I'm still waiting for that to go through. It's on like a five-day hold. So I haven't actually got any of that money so I can fill up my pool and go swimming in it like Scrooge McDuck with all his gold yet. But, you know, I really, really, really appreciate all the Patreons. And I will say this. I did not get a new Patreon since the last show. But I did promise if I got a new Patreon in the next 72 hours, which I only did the show 48 hours ago, so that's not done. So I'm still sticking with that. within the next 24 hours, I'm going to do my show with me guessing whom I think and have very good evidence may have the most number of new and box pinball machines sealed, unopened, all together. I don't know, but all together, because it would take up a lot of space. But I think I know the man who owns the most LE pinball machines on planet Earth, maybe even more than Rob Burke, maybe even more than Rob Burke. Now, I will say this, he might not have as many as Rob Burke, but I think he has hundreds, and I think they're all new in box. So maybe there is a distro that has more than him, but I doubt it. And I'm going to talk about that. I'm going to talk about it right here on the Poor Man's Pinball Network. Airwaves, if I get one Patreon added to that within the next 24 hours. So there you go. That's a little bump up as well. Probably, you know what, I'll probably do that even if I get one. And you also get your name in the title, which is kind of cool. But let's just bump, let's just bump and boomp and bing bong boom over to the next thing. Okay, so this is really cool. Every single show and every single year, I end up trying to get a pin turn, usually for TPF, not every year for TPF, but almost every year for Expo. I've left it to the last minute as usual. That's just how I do. I'm sorry. That's just kind of how I roll. I plan to get this out a bit earlier, but some other stuff going on. All right. Hey, I've done four shows, I believe, in the last eight days. two of them behind the paywall, or one of them behind the paywall, one of them not behind the paywall, but on Patreon with Danielle, and then, you know, two more, this is my, like, fifth show in, like, 10 days, so there you go, lots of content, maybe too much, probably too much, so that's why I'm just going to get to this pew, pew, pew real quick, we're going to try to end the show, let you guys go on with your day, have the best chance of at least a couple people hearing this, so I can find out who the Patreon is. Now, do you have to call in? No, but that'd be rad. do you have to make even an audio thing and just send it to me so I can play it live on the air no but that would be rad I would just want like four or five minutes your time maybe 10 max you don't have to be on the show for a long period if you want to come on the show and do live great if you were not comfortable coming on the show you can just send me like a voice recording and I can work that into the show no problem okay so but anyways here's the thing what you don't have to do is you don't have to go do any live interviews you don't have to go spend any money this will cost you nothing and honestly I think it will enhance your experience and I hope that at least five to ten people try this but who knows it might just be one person who does it with and gets one point wins so don't think just because you only did one thing on this list you couldn't win but it's nothing wild don't worry there is no upper deckers to be had all right so the number and I will say other content creators can play this because I know a lot of content creators listen to my show in fact that might be only who lives that's all who listens but anyways no I'm just joking. All right. So here's the list. Glenn, the skateboarder. I can say this. Glenn, the skateboarder. If you get a selfie with any of these 10 people, okay, there's, I lied. There's slightly more than 10. But if you get a selfie with any of these people, you don't have to say, but it would be rad if you did. Orby sent me or Orby told me I have to get this selfie or I'm taking this selfie to be part of the pin turn competition. You could say any of those things, but you don't have to. All you have to say is, hey, Glenn, it'd be really cool if I could get a selfie with you or if I get a picture with you would that be all right and glenn or anyone on this list if you don't like being asked for selfies i apologize but i did make sure they were mostly content creators so they're not going up to random people i'm not picking like a David Van Es or a gary stern okay i didn't even pick jack danger why wouldn't i pick jack danger jack danger already has like 500 people coming up to him plus he's working the whole time he's there i tried to pick content creators that would be maybe possibly have at least a second for a quick selfie so i'm not telling you to go talk your ear off or whatever else but just a quick selfie ask them for a quick selfie okay one point for each all right so number one on the list is glenn the skateboarder he should be in the homebrew section not the whole time but he should be at the homebrew section at the zombie league hockey i should have had the notes up for the exact name but it is a two-player game and i'm now allowed to talk about the reviews are coming in it sounds like everybody loves it uh hopefully it keeps working for them i know there's it's still kind of in prototype phase uh i know the Same thing for all the other homebrewers. Last year, there was like 40 homebrewers. I watched Kerry Hardy's video tour this morning, his walk around. Make sure you guys go watch that as well. It was very neat. And the homebrew section, they were all kind of setting up. It was cool seeing behind the scenes like an hour or two before the doors actually opened. So that was great. Number two on this list is Ryan Barry. Oh, and make sure you try to play a game of the zombie one where you're over there because it would be neat to hear your thoughts on it after the two-player game, the zombie hockey, when you send it back to me. So number two on the list is Ryan Berry of Phantom Tilt Pinball. That's right. He actually sent me a picture with Glenn from last night. Really funny picture. And thank you so much for that. I guess they accidentally ran into each other somewhere in Chi-town there in good old Chicago or Schaumburg. So that was so cool. Ryan Berry, make sure you try to get a picture with him. If you're not sure what Ryan looks like, just go over there to the Phantom Tilt Pinball Podcast Facebook page. I'm sure you can find a beautiful picture of the mustached man himself with him and Kimba. And yeah, anyways, yeah. Ryan Barry, there you go. Number three needs no introduction. Don of Don's Pinball Podcast. There you go. No, you don't have to get Don and go play the Winchester Mystery House game and get a selfie with him beside it. And him saying woo look how shiny it is That his favorite comment so far It really shiny The cabinet shiny The Don the cabinet also the least favorite part of my artwork as well So she the one side I don know Both sides could be I think could be better The art the colors kind of pop, but I just don't know if I love the art per se or if they filled the space well enough, but I still think it's very good. B plus art, B plus art and the backlash probably an A minus. So there you go. All right. So Don of Don's Pinball Podcast, also known as Donnie. go see Donnie get a selfie with Donnie all right number four is Jeremy I always do this and I don't know why Jeremy's spoken no it's Janie Burchill of the JBS show uh go get you don't have to buy him a coke or get a diet coke in the selfie but if you did that would be pretty funny uh number five I call him Rad Ralph you probably know him better as Retro Ralph can we start Rad Ralph can we make that a thing can you at least call him Rad Ralph uh for the selfie can you say Rad Ralph can I get a picture? He'll know you're talking about him. Unless he's like in a circle of five other guys named Ralph, pretty low chance of that happening. All right, number six on the list is Kale Hernandez. That's right. Now, Kale will probably be with his wife, Rachel. Not all the time, but I'm sure a good chunk of the time they'll be together. So if you can get a picture with number six or number seven, Kale or Rachel, that's like two birds, one stone. They might even give you a selfie with both of them at once. Who knows? Wouldn't that be cool? You'd get two at once two of my favorite pinball podcasters i love hearing them as a small business owner myself who's always wanted to dabble in especially when my wife and i sell the farm opening an arcade here in canada and i've joked for years about wanting to like open like the canadian pinball hall of fame okay i don't know if that will ever happen my buddy matthew megaphone still holding on to humpty dumpty for me the very first electromagnetized flippered machine on planet earth So, you know, I might still do that, but who knows? The point is I love hearing their behind the scenes, their reports of how much earnings reports I think they call them. I love their banter. I think they're both just charming, fun, interesting people. I really love Pin Pals. I don't have Serge on the list because I guess he's not going for, again, reasons, right? But Serge, much like myself, is probably still kind of doing like parenting duty and stuff it sounds like. But go check out pen piles if you haven't, because wow, listening to Serge do his breakdown. On the Winchester mystery house. OK, I'll stop. I'm sorry on that. The new game from Boff barrels of fun. That was incredible. He broke it down. And between Carl's like 12 minute, like live stream gameplay type video thing that he put up and that. Wow. I just can't wait to play this game. I never in a million years would have thought I would be excited for a Winchester or anything. But who knows? So go over there. Say hello to Rachel and Kale. Tell them how much you love their podcast and even the new Pimpals. Tell them Orby sent you. Tell them Orby sent you. I feel like this is like a – all right. Oh, I have some bonus people here. But next is Josh Roop. I'm not 100% sure if Scott's going to be there, but I know Josh is going to be there. So I had to add him to the list. I think Scott mentioned on the most recent Loser Kid he couldn't actually go. So shout out to Scott. I'm sure you would like to be there, Scott. And Orby will be there in spirit with you, Josh. But Josh is there because I saw him on either, was it Kerry Hardy's live stream or some type of, I saw him on some type of video. But anyways, and I commented on his thing as well. And he asked if I was coming. And I let him know, no, my son got into university and also reasons. But anyways, go see Mr. Loser Kid himself and go buy a hat from him. I have no bonus points for that. I'm not doing tied selling or anything. No bonus points. But those hats are rad. They're fun. They're cool. He always brings a bunch with him. Go support him. Oh, and while I mentioned Rad Ralph, I should have said bonus points for him. I didn't if you buy a pair of those gloves because I'm telling you, especially if you're at one of these day-long things where you're going to be going and you're a nudger like me. You like to really move around the machine a lot. Okay. Tilting is trying. Just remember that. Tilting is trying. If you get an out lane and you didn't get at least a danger, you're doing something wrong. Unless you're on carpeting. But, you know, who wants to play on carpeting? Except for when you're at Expo and your dogs are barking and your feet are sore. But, okay. So, Josh is going to be a point there from Loser Kid. Shout out to him. And then I had to add my old producer from my show on TPN, Top 3 with Orby, Ken Cromwell. You might know him also famously, probably much more famously than even the special One Lip Pinball podcast. I would say people know him from being marketing communications, something along those lines, at Jersey Jack Pinball and helping out with so many really cool releases for them. But he's now, of course, on the Flip N Out Pinball podcast with number 10 on the list. That's right. Go get a Greg Bone. Go get a Greg Bone and just say, excuse me, sir. Could I talk to you for a second and grab a quick selfie? I've always loved Greg. I've always really jived with him. I think he's a cool turkey. I think he's a fun guy. He's interesting. He doesn't take himself too seriously. He doesn't take pinball too seriously. He doesn't play a lot of the pinball tournaments. Him and Ken and I get that. A lot of the guys on this list actually don't. But he's still an awesome dude, and I love all of his work on Straight Down the Middle. I really enjoy, you know, when just him and Zach, they get along so well. I particularly loved, I have always said my favorite Twippies ever was when him and Zach hosted. I think they have the best camaraderie and they were very funny and they didn't take themselves too seriously, that sort of thing. They did a great job doing that. I would also say that I got to add in here two people I forgot, two people I forgot. Maybe three, maybe three. Okay, number one that I forgot is Drew of the Poor Men's Pinball Podcast. Get over there and get a selfie and just say, Orby said hello. Thanks for letting me be on your network. It's pretty rad. Something like that. I don't know. Or buy something off of him. But hashtag, you don't get extra points for any money you spend because this is a free competition. This is just for fun. All right, next on the list is the dote himself. That's right, Joe Chervino. Now, it would be cooler if you beat him on a game. What was that game he gave you? There's a game he has right now. You get $50, Chris, $50 bill if you beat his GC on one of the games there at Expo. Maybe someone's already won it. I don't want to say they have or haven't. But get over there and tell him you're a pinball degenerate. And thanks for naming Albert the most pinballist, most degeneratist of all time for the pinball podcasters. Is that what the award was? Most degenerate pinball podcaster of all time, I think. And he said the category is closed for life. So, you know, anyways, there you go. I'm the most degenerate pinball podcaster for life or second most nah third most third most second most somewhere in there let's not talk let's not be negative Nancy's or Debbie Downer's today let's only speak of rad people like my boy Mr. Christopher Franchi he is there he's having fun he's got these really cool stickers you guys should ask him for one just say oh can I get that sticker that Orby messaged you about earlier today that you wanted to get they're really cool I totally agree with the message of those stickers as well and it's definitely the sticker only says three words and it says beetle use beetle use beetle use oh wait tell him oh you could wait or beetle or beetle okay or beetle is like orby or beetle is like a really funny uh pokemon in well in pokemon and so you could say or beetle juice or beetle juice or beetle juice no don't do that that's lame that's even me even me saying it as a dad joke. That was pretty lame. Even as far as my lame joke, though, that was pretty lame. Don't say that. But just say, Franchi, Orby loves you. Thank you so much. Have a rad day. Can I get a selfie with you? Don't say that. Just say, Franchi, can I grab a selfie? Cool. Thanks. Awesome. Can't wait for the next spooky pin. There you go. Hashtag, I still got to do my spooky show. That is coming up soon. Everybody, thanks for listening today. I hope you had a good day. I hope whether you're traveling to Expo, at Expo trying to fall asleep, traveling home, got me on in your headphones where you're waiting to play the Expo tournament. Is that going to be live streamed back in pinball? Are you live streaming? I hope you are. I think you are. I know you had your equipment there. A really quick shout-out. I don't want to lose the non-pinball people. Really quick shout-out to Zach McCarthy and Raymond Davidson. They were first and second. I literally fell asleep in the afternoon while it was on. It was a very long show. Oh, shout out also to Elizabeth Elizabeth Gieske and Jack Danger for doing an epic like 14-hour live stream or 12-hour live stream. Yeah, that was a very, very long live stream. And they didn't even switch it up. Most pinball tournaments, you know, people do commentary for two hours and someone else goes for two hours and someone else goes for two hours. No, no, no, no, no. That's not what happened in this case. These guys – sorry, I got to plug in the laptop. These guys did the entire thing from start to finish. So shout out to them. That must have been a crazy – I think. Jack's quote was something about my butt starting to turn into hamburgers. I've been sitting here so long. So get them some good cushions. And that's the other thing. If you're going to Expo, bring a cushion in your backpack. If you're going to have all that beer in there anyways, you might as well have a backpack, right? You might as well have like a cushion. See, a lot of these people bring these cushions that really help you out if you're going to like a baseball game. And shout out to the Jays. Oh, my God. but Zach McCarthy won the Stern Circuit Pro Finals, I believe it was. He also won a pinball machine, and Raymond Davidson's like, I've already won like five pinball machines. I don't need more. No. If you go watch it, it's really, really, really interesting. Spoiler alert, turn this off, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. I already told you who won, so it doesn't matter. But if you watch the very last five seconds of the very last game, Ray Day actually completes the mission he was trying to complete because it is a mission-based, it's not a score-based tournament, it's a mission-based tournament. So, say, starting a multiball, I think he was starting the Sentinel multiball, don't quote me if I'm wrong, in X-Men, and Ray Day actually did it 0.6 or 0.7 of a second. I went back and screenshotted it before the other gentleman had pressed his button, but, of course, Ray Day wasn't 100% sure because he didn't know, I think, if the animation came up or if he was waiting for a sound or a light. I don't really understand. He understands the game obviously much better than me, but he wasn't 100% sure if he had started it. And as soon as he saw he started when he went to turn and press the button, of course it was now too late because he stuttered, stepped for longer than half a second, which of course, I mean, there's nothing wrong with that. So now is that taking anything away from ZMAC? Absolutely not. ZMAC was up like four, one or five, I think five, one or five, two at the time. So ZMAC was way, way, way far ahead. ZMAC was playing lights out. What an incredible player. What an intense, it's just, it's a fun format that you have to turn around and press the button. I've never seen that in a pinball tournament before. It's really cool. It's very interesting. Oh, no. Mr. Franchi is going over and bothering Luna Tuna, Elowen Agar, who's over here nicely sleeping. So that looks like it is my signal to go. Everybody, be kind to each other. Have a rad day. Everybody, and even if you weren't going to Expo, I hope you found this at least moderately entertaining or exciting. Until next time, pinball nerds, remember to eat, sleep, and breathe. Expo Pinball.
