our newest major here in 2020 and indus worth a trip wouldn't you say dr john a big trip but uh the amount of talent here the uh the depth of talent the variety of games and the difficulty of the format anybody who gets into the finals that alone makes the final four is astounding as a player it's incredible and that's trend augustine's butt trapped yet again he didn't make the idea someone just did a number two on the screen well i'll tell you another thing too uh simultaneously we've also got the high stakes action going on and actually two of the players are playing in both colin urban is playing and who else is in uh asia was but he's as there was it wasn't i think there's one other one i think there were three is raymond in raymond's out ramen zap so okay only one so we're gonna see some back and forth action it's just what i mean there were no rules saying you could only pick one at another they actually thought the finals would be done by now and then they could start the high stakes but again we've seen a lot of tie breakers some excellent play that's why it goes so long lots of long games so that's the reason why things tend to you know move a little slowly during the finals because you're more careful you tend to think about your shots even more than even doing qualifying so that time tends to build up and so here we are yeah steven i've seen you prolong a few games dr john and i we do our part we keep to our time you know we're in we're out we're quick games i was in the queue behind stephen on rescue 9-1-1 for my 10-year-old daughter to play in the juniors we said we're lying up here there's only three people waiting stephen got on an hour and 25 minutes i think it was that's finally after i learned how to do the thing that only because i was watching you know before yeah before we get to the finals about rescue 9-1-1 it was in the bank it was chosen not to be played because of how long playing it is steven the thing is all right here's the thing the thing is on rescue 9-1-1 is that well not only is every every mode you can be a multiball but once you lock balls and start multiball you can get jackpots over and over and over by juggling the balls between each other some some good post passing some shots some careful switching of flippers and you can get 100 million a shot for as long as you want and there you go so diner's our first game eric stone you're going to see you're going to see colin urban last year's champ andre maskoff another world champ and young jared august who also was a final four finalist at the pinball expo in chicago i'm loving that diner is gonna be up next it's uh this is a game that also gave me some blessings and also some curses i had the number one score done qualifying but i also got my butt kicked very royally on this game this game plays very fast but also does play very simply we want to make sure that we get our meal served to our five customers you see in the middle and the key will be that right ramp a very fast right ramp you got to be able to be accurate and also react to any misses each shot gives you a dino letter get all the dino letters and stir that cup lock the ball and get multiball now as you can see the flippers are not going to give you an easy time trying to cradle so uh what i saw somebody do it was in fact Josh Sharpe he'd make that shot now right here we would hold the flipper up and ski jump over and then post packs back to make a clean shot that was a great shot by eric stone who did it on the fly much harder to do and he's rewarded with 2.5 we just saw a very rare 2.5 million usually you'll see about 500 750 but on a clean shot two and a half million is big and on the fly you don't have to do it on the fly you can sky jump come back but i mean that's who eric stone is absolutely i mean and one thing one thing about those post passes the post pass from the right flip over to the left flipper is a little iffy yeah that's true too a little on this one so we may see a little bit of reticence against that but this should start multiball that's the rom that's been installed right so that's workable yeah guaranteed all right here we go and in multiball it's all about dying time right we got we got to build up our downtime we get we can serve our customers faster and also if we want to try and beat the rush you can try to shoot the spinner on the right if i can hear if i can get here i can't do it there but i will but next to the right ramp you'll see a flashing red light and that is the first step to to beat the rush you have to shoot that and then you have to shoot the right saucer on the far right and that will make the ramps worth 500 000 on an alternating basis not all the time that's this special round to make it a little bit harder to do and they do that so that the great players aren't doing repeatable shots exactly you notice and you may also notice during the inlay sometimes the white lights will light that will raise your dime time bonus that is the jackpot to get the dying time jackpot you have to serve all five customers and then shoot that little right orbit that i pointed out that one there but that one would have started beat the rush but the other ball has already left us so we're out of multiball and we're back to notice near knows all the dino letters are gone now so he's got to build them all back up using that right ramp there's one and two oh now this game has done that where we'll switch directions again avoiding the repeatable shots right wow eric's been playing fantastic all weekend what do you have a second in the first classics tournament and then one and one yesterday's classic so he's just been firing all weekend and he certainly likes pinball there was a match play event 120 players on thursday he chose not to play that and he said that rest might have actually helped him hey i believe it i played in that event and did okay in it and then and then came in here and uh you know played okay but i i i don't know if it would have helped if i would use the rest here oh missed the r oh can i get control get it back all right now it's post pass time maybe not okay he's just going for it build up the points on the first ball give everyone something to chase and he could also try and build up down time if he keeps shooting that cash register and gets to the max amount he can build up dine time awards scary coming out of the pops here i've noticed a few times you'll see some quick saves oh nice in lane nice and lane good no nudge there and then oh just a little bit late on the shimmy he might have been able to bring that back you're getting a little bit of wiggle you're allowed this isn't the tightest tilt i've seen right so uh you're gonna see people use those dangers for sure so stirring the cup steve up the top i remember seeing bowen's uh tutorial on this on the puppet tv stream always said avoid stirring the cup because it resets everything right so that was a bit of a change in this round just sort of force you to get rid of the cup i mean you still could get the yarn to ski jump it over and lock the ball i did do that just but you really want to stir the cup for the chance that two and a half million i mean that's huge did you get to see this game much in australia no david peck has stolen them all obviously they're all in new zealand down to new zealand i love taxi and diner they're just such great themes good setups good set up uh designs again you can see that you see the exact example notice that what we just saw there that post pass is very iffy and we can see he just iffy down the left outline that normally with the flippers set properly yeah and that's the loneliest shot in pinball isn't it right and we left out yeah oh nothing like being left out yeah jeff took a while to get it but we got there we were there we got there if you could just layer these jokes and explain it and help help the slower of us but if that post pass was nice and friendly they might we might be here for 11 hours i mean if you can just keep postpassing it and hitting the orbit you know on your on your standard everyday route diner that you have in your local arcade with the nice flippers and you can own it for 50 million but a big credit to sauron uh from denmark who does a wonderful job on a lot of these roms radical we'll see a sauron rom on as well yeah he is the hidden nvp so i think indy 500 too yep and for the young people watching good to see two of the four finalists in the open championship are both under 18. what hope do we have gentlemen uh we're going to change the rule i've talked to josh 21 or older that's it they're playing the opening yeah you can see andre how do you take an early nudge just to stay in the game that's good next spot no no luck nope this is he just got started so he had to take a very early nudge and every time it lands from the top it's kind of scary we just have to be ready to adjust to what happens well one thing you know for sure about andre there's not going to be any cradling up i mean there will any of these post pass not going to happen on the go and that ball wanted out really i mean he did all he could for that he's just an in-lane on the fly i mean he nudged it out the ball the ball just had eyes and it was ready to go they set up relatively fair these games i i didn't think they were overly harsh as far as jeff said the tilt settings and there are some outlane posts still in not ridiculous robbers the rubbers weren't pulled off it's i mean some of the center post rubbers you might have seen well moved on a few and that makes sense on but the post is still there yeah all right now jared stepping up we noticed d.i.n already spotted on the first diner just to get you to encourage you to stir that cup shoot that right ramp let's go i have been watching this kid play he plays out of em brew in ferndale michigan and uh very very delightful him and his father scott so i know a lot of fans in michigan are watching young jared first major tournament you said jeff well he came in in the top four in uh pinball expo too wow he's he's just lights out and he was really good at newer games but uh i can tell you right now he's just as good at the classics all right right now we did have a ball shot into the far right from the mystery there and now it's on the top okay here we go it was a little bit of a delay oh good save good save quadruple danger yeah so he is that that's that he got it that's the second time in a row he's had a clean transfer oh a little early so fast i mean when you miss that right ramp you have to be ready it's so fast okay now he's got two even tilted our screens right that was a strong move that was a very strong move it's 20 feet away that's a good chance here we go all right this is a good one this is good then it stopped see it was it looked good and all of a sudden it just stopped all right so he wants to try and serve these customers he knows below the ramp we have the uh little white light which also serves food and then we also have on the left there's a lock and also that also serves food that contributes towards you serving the customer mike's got one customer done working on his second but he really would like to start multiball first and we have a bit of a stucky yeah we have a stucky here where are you the techs have been doing a great job all weekend keep here it is it's back out but for the age of some of these games it's amazing how well they're held up absolutely all right working on diner and oh all you have to do is hit that right hit that right orbit oh beautiful log catch again a third straight transfer again it's great oh a little bit of too hard of a nudge there's and he either two dangers he's two dangers already so he couldn't make as much of a move but he did pull in the second so far one but we look what eric's got the five million already remember what he did to get it strong he just he just played a long time remember he he had the big two and a half million stir on the cup there that's right that was huge that's bigger than all three of the scores so it can be really all about that cup who gets the 500 versus who gets the two and a half mil right and eric will give this a moment after the tilt understandably and to give you an idea stephen you mentioned that you have the top score you did on diner going in uh the top score was 34 million the second highest score 22 million so you must have had one heck of a ball but uh you know a decent score on this game over the weekend in the 10 million range uh but as we see these four great players we could all see them exceed that but again there has been there has been a modification on the uh multiball rule where the ramps will alternate for the 500 000 they're not for 500 000 all the time but they will alternate i don't know whether you're losing the picture here we got pictures coming just been such a pleasure to come to this tournament and and in the whole weekend of events the two classics the match play the women's the high stakes going on right now and of course this new major the ifta open scoreboard scores uh i think i well i know we've got uh five million i believe for uh five billion five million for eric stone right and 1.8 for jared those are the your two leaders if the games are on scorbit they will scroll on the bottom of your screen underneath their names you can't run a tournament this size without really dedicated text it's just as as great as a game can be things are gonna break down with the volume of play over several days and it's it's a i know even for running league nights you know you think your games are great you want to find out what's wrong with your machine yeah have a bunch of people come over here they'll do it right have a bunch of kids come over to your house all chimp-flipping for an hour or two sure what happened to your coils this looks pretty good needs the r for uh to stir that cup and he was very successful the last time doing it so he's in a very good situation to put a whole bunch of pressure on his opponents with already at a five at a five minute clip now stephen or john any idea what they they might be looking at i i can go find well there was a stuck ball situation with underneath the register that's kind of where what jim was there and there was a bit of hesitation of the of the ball locking there were some problems there so it appeared to be the surgical area that he was looking at i've also noticed a few times in games in this uh playoff action the skill shot wasn't registering so normally it starts off at the top of the jukebox and alternates you know left to right and down the jukebox i had that happen once now i remember you now i understand that would just stand for the 150 and it's like why is it oh and i just pull it and nothing okay and that costs you especially if it's ball two balls right that's two times two times that amount or three times that could be enough absolutely every point is so important here in this four two one zero scoring they're waiting for the food we had a food truck here all weekend i had my first american chili dog and you still survived well i went to pick it up and guess what oh you can't eat it with your hands no no well you do the chili makes the whole bun dissolve if you pick it up just get a handful of glue you gotta use a knife and book [Laughter] you know they've always said australia is the cutlery capital of the world i mean culinary not cutlery that's not a chili dog i did have it sit for about five minutes chasing my daughter but that's probably why it's soaked through it's a terrible stereotype you know when they say that's an chuckles telling me the curator that i think 537 not to mention the video games the walter day museum there's just so much action here and uh you know whether you're into tournament play or not you're a collector uh there's just so much to see here and for the three times a year that they're open you know certainly maybe it's gonna be the arcade expo that you want to come to there is a third event or look on the calendar next year in january 2021 for in disc when it returns so it's uh very special and it gets bigger and bigger because this room we're in right now is actually a video game part they just kind of pushed a lot of video games and included all these you know 18 games in the main the 15 and the classics the seven and the high stakes and women uh and made this very comfortable there's bleachers all around for people to see big screens of course the patches the couches very nice lamps very comfortable yeah very incredible oh yeah the couches these would be gold in pinbury wouldn't they a replay of that vip area baby vip here everywhere you know what it's like i mean that is people play for whoppers no way i play for getting a chair at pembert that's the goal we can see world traveler bob matthews with his many lanyards he has 66 lanyards around one for each year he's been alive and that's not a joke he's been playing since 1975 he's in his sixth decade of playing too he won that where do you go from there you got to stay at the top and that's what eric stone did from florida from fort myers representing the pinball lounge how are you buddy i am just shaking like crazy and i'm a world champion i love it i i you are a world champion that's amazing it's a major oh my gosh i know i can't even talk ask me questions okay you can't even talk it's gonna make it difficult when you're gonna be asked to do the Carl Weathers when you get back home to fort myers oh yeah definitely next saturday now are you going to fly back on an airplane or just on your high right now both it's it's very very good what do you want to say about uh first of all these great competitors man you know you got to step up your play i obviously i was nervous on scared stiff i i don't know what i did and i knew i had to play well on f14 and actually if he defer to me i was going to pick f14 and i knew what i needed to do i needed to hit the the m i needed to get the lock i needed to cradle the ball i needed to get multiball and you know when i have that strategy in my head it's a lot easier and you know thank god i was able to do it the pressure i mean you were cradled up there on the left and we're thinking he hits that he starts it yeah easier said than done well i think i missed the first one and i said okay don't be too anxious let it go a little bit more down the flipper because it's a little bit lower than what i may have played on another f-14 and i let it go a little bit lower and once i hit that scoop shot man i was i was jumping for i mean i'm an emotional guy as everybody knows so whether it's a high or low uh yeah i just i just extremely exciting i mean i i still can't believe it you are a major champion that's yeah i know it's gonna take a little while to set in and you've also won another pinball machine you've done that before yeah cool uh yeah wwe le and alice cooper and i don't think this will be a wwe you've got a monster's coming your way but all right and you've got your name on the banner twice too which is gonna be pretty exciting yeah you know like i said this whole weekend was something else i had this little intuition this little feeling inside me saying i need to come to this tournament and i really didn't want to because it was so far away it was out of my comfort zone but i just went with a feeling and man thank god i went with a feeling it's one of the few times you didn't drive to a tournament yeah yeah it's too far it's way too far plus my car's been having problems i'll tell you what you don't have to drive far for a big event coming up later on this year it's happening in fort myers florida and it's the ifa 17 the world championship uh 64 of the best players in the world there'll be about 20 different countries represented so that may be where we see you next uh well yeah in this situation you know it's at the pinball asylum right in fort myers 15 minutes away from where i live and uh you know hopefully we'll put on a really good world championship for everyone i think you will eric congratulations thank you very much i really appreciate it okay thank you very much get your trophies
