## Transcript

Dutch, you want to be the pins? Okay, we're going five pinballing here. Here we go. Boom! Oh, you put some very bizarre spin on that. That was interesting. Magnetic fingers, man. That was crazy. Five multiballs stacked together. Oh, that was violent. I felt that knocker. I like feeling knockers, by the way. I'm Mike Dimas, and this is Pinball Shenanigans. Bye, doggies. Oh, shit. I just got a super thanks from TripleFX for $10 Canadian. Thank you very much, dude. I really appreciate that. I should put that to good use on the golf course tomorrow. He says thanks for all the great content. And if you want to send a super thanks, then I will also give you a super shout-out. Hey, what's up boys? Ray and I just showed up at the Grazely Garage. Oh, what's going on here? Some old, that's like what, a Sinbad cabinet? With a snowboard. Snowboard and arcade marquee. We got the beast out. Did you take this to the car show tonight? Yeah, we did. Did you? Yeah. did people love the uh the van at the car we drove by the car show on the way here we saw there was a lot of cars there it was really cool i should have we should have went ourselves but oh there is mabel and maynard hi doggies uh is there stuff happening in the garage here still like like is the 10 strike ball bowler there I'd like to see the finished product I saw photos it looked amazing I want to see it live all right I don't know if you watched before and saw what this 10 strike looks like but it was a piece of poop it was in very rugged condition it It made for a good workbench for a little while there. It did. So thanks, Gene, again for that. But now it is finished. Look at this. Brand new back door, right? You made that? That and the bottom one. And the bottom door. We got powder-coated legs with the red leg bolts. That's very sexy. And I've actually looked at all, like, 80 photos you posted to the Ontario Pinball Enthusiast Group. and it looked like uh quite a chore to uh make these stencils from scratch after he threw he made a set when he did the last 10 strike boulder he made a spare set then he threw them up yeah because you said i'd never do another one right after like 10 months of having them it's like i won't need these again yeah oh no so to remake the stencil kit well there's just a lot of taping and taping off and but that looks yeah looks amazing oh and custom paint job on the dude nice orange shirt I think the last ten strike he did it was a different color shirt was more like a pink or salmon or something sure mix it up a little bit I like it So... Oh, is this your pen strike? Unfortunately... Gene is going to be the one who's going to fix it up and get it up and running. So we can't go bowling. You did say you had one bowl though. Somewhere? Yes? No? One bowling bowl? You can like... Foe bowl. Wait, isn't this... supposed to do that? It's not plugged in yet. Oh, so it's actually, does it use pinballs as the balls? For some reason, I just pictured like, I don't know, wooden balls. I don't know why, but I don't know any better. Okay, here we go. So this is what it would look like if we were to play 10 strike. You ready? Got to aim. That's pretty precise right there. Dutch, you want to be the pins? Okay, we're going five pinballing here. There we go. Boom! Oh, you put some very bizarre spin on that. That was interesting. How did you do that? I couldn't see what I was doing. I just moved my hand up. Magnetic fingers, man. That was crazy. It was like a magnet grabbed it and spun. Was there like a second button here for the magnet? Magnet save? Is that what that was? Anyway. this thing turned out amazing remember had that old logo here that was sort of just hand hand painted on yeah i do love the uh the teal vintage look here this is what 1956 i think you said right 57 yeah i don't know this is before my time and i from the photos uh i noticed it required a lot of bondo I mean there was no square corners on this thing when he got it it was it was pretty worn down so what's this project over here ben benedict dropped off this this was an eight ball cabinet and this was a playboy head looks like it also required a heck of a lot of bondo so what's what's Ben's strategy on this game here, is he throwing in a new playfield too? Did I hear something about that? He didn't give us the playfield, so I'm swapping it. Ben was going to do a playfield swap. I imagine he would hire you guys, so maybe he's sticking with the original. Maybe, but he didn't give us that. No, okay. All right, so this is just strictly a cabinet job. It's going to be a beautiful, original 1979 Bally 8-Ball, which is a very desirable game. I think they made like over 10,000. Is it 18,000 of them? It was. One of the best songs. I think it's like 18 grand, give or take. Yeah. So if you're going to sink money into an OG Bally, then this is definitely one. What is this? Thank you. Yeah. For what? I don't know. I haven't looked at it. Oh, let's bust it open and see. I see WWs. I'm guessing Whirlwind. Whirlwind? okay so this must be gene the guy who owns the 10 strike bowler this is his other project that he's getting you to do it's going to be a whirlwind 2.0 total chaos package right with a new playfield new decals new translate new back glass uh new it comes with like uh dmd as well instead of the alphanumeric displays. So this will be pretty frigging cool. So you sent him a message, told him that his 10-strike is done. Yeah, so I think he's getting together Ben, and Ben's got an extra, like, alley or play field, I guess. Oh, okay. So he might be putting a different... A new, like, bowling alley on this thing? Yeah. Yeah. And Gene has the plastic shroud that goes over top, I'm assuming? Yeah, he reproduced them for years, I guess. Gene does? Yeah. Really? Oh, wow. So like back in the day he made the dome and the thing so he made them and sold them all over the world Oh maybe that where Ben got his from the last time he did his But like obviously not much I could do about fixing that Yeah. But if he's going to put it in the playfield, then... So I guess the playfield... It's the whole thing. It's this whole piece as well, not just this part? Like, this is all. Oh, okay. Sweet. And did you do anything to this? Did you have to sand it down or something? Yeah, I was painting chocolate brown, so... Ah, okay, yeah, that's an improvement. and the original wood trim for the head too. Yeah I just added that and painted that. Oh nice okay. Beauty! Too bad we can't play it. Maybe the third ten strike you do we'll get to play. Yeah we didn't get to play Ben's. Don't throw out the stencils. All right so I know there's more new stuff going on in the arcade as well. We've got some signage. Some, what do you call, what do you call like a big character that represents a business? Mascot. A mascot. There we go. That's the word I'm looking for. All right, let's go. Let's see what we got. I see the photo. And I haven't even mentioned anything about it yet. but let's see what it looks like live. Okay, there's the punch out. Okay, nothing really new on this side, except that I see the tool bench has moved over, and the pinball machines have officially made it all the way to as far as they can go on this wall. And, oh my God, what the hell have you done? That is the biggest boy. Oh, on a side note, I actually used to work for Big Boy. It was maybe my first job, and I was a dishwasher there. And I was a damn fine good one, too. But holy shit. So good that you fired me. You know what? They actually promoted me to a cook. And I'm like, okay, well, I'll go check out this cook gig. Got to get up early in the morning. You got to go into the kitchen. You got to sweat your nuts off. So I'm like, can I go back to dishwashing, please? and then I called in sick on a long weekend from the beach and they said if you don't come back you don't have a job anymore and I'm like alright let's party and that was the end of Big Boy but dude that is crazy I cannot believe you sent me a photo of this and I'm like that's amazing you're like it's 7 feet tall and I'm like there's no way you're buying that but he proved me wrong So someone restored this pretty nicely, eh? The burger is as tall as the Krispy Kreme sign. Oh my God. Is this like something you think you're going to hang on to for a while or just hang on to it for a bit? Enjoy the novelty of it and then... I've been running one of these things for like 20 years. It'll stick around for a while. It's not a KFC bucket that you really can't do anything with. This is pretty cool. This is pretty damn cool. And, you know, fits along nicely with Ronald McDonald over there. Did you bring that back in the van? I was going to drive. It was pretty far away. I brought it back in the trailer. Oh, yeah. Was it standing up in the trailer? No, I haven't laid it. Okay. Yeah, it's going to be in the van. Would have probably got some looks if it was standing up in the trailer on the way home. Okay, so let's take a look at the lineup and then Dutch I want you to show me The medieval madness since it is officially finished Okay These things are actually now, oh are they okay and you got little toppers on them, too Yeah, well, I was told that I was not to put them on because they're kind of ugly and I said Forget you dad. Well, you know it adds to the whole arcade shenanigans experience There's like a hundred bajillion different art things you can slide in here for certain games. You can have a Street Fighter little thing in here. You can have a Virtua Fighter, a Mortal Kombat or whatever. Okay, so there's options. Yeah. And what is this? VS Cabinet for Exciting Battle. Yeah. That's the best. That is the best. That's the generic that it came with, I guess. I like Exciting Battle. Okay, so one guy sits on this side, one guy sits on that side. It's like the battleship of fighting. Well not really Battlestar because you're both seeing the exact same thing. Okay, that's true. The way it's supposed to work is you usually have a control panel with only one set of joystick and buttons. Yeah. Because obviously these were meant to have people sitting side by side, but you can still link them anyways. Okay. So I'm going to buy new joysticks and whatnot. Oh yeah? using the player control panel so it can actually be like legit head to head player two but yeah like legit head to head right now like like this doesn't do anything right and on the other side doesn't do anything so like this is player two over here and player one's on that side gotcha and so it's like you don't have to share elbow room right you just you're sharing the exact same thing that's pretty cool that's pretty cool all right kevin you're gonna be our uh our film guy we're going to try and do a head-to-head battle on the astro city cab okay this is your repair button okay sorry sorry i haven't fixed that issue yet uh oh you bitch yeah you're in trouble now I'm going out, motherfucker. Dutch cannot see that I know what I'm doing here. Hey. Wait, hold on, let me say it. Not sure you did that wrong. Were you not looking? I told you he's big. Quick work of me. Ray. Do you want to give him a... Do it. Do it. Oh, yeah, okay. Father versus son. Fight. This is pretty cool. This is like NBA Fast Break linked, but arcade style. This is how fighting games prevent you from being quiet. Okay, what do we got? What do we got? You are Zangief. Kevin is going Vega. He's learned a thing or two, I'm guessing, from the son. Oh, super move there. He tried and got stuffed. Dutch. Whoa. That was like, what, six seconds? With the perfect, dude. Okay, let's watch the players here on the player cam. See the intensity in their faces. And then we'll watch, let's see. Okay, Zangief is actually in trouble here. I like that torpedo move This could be a Could go 1-1 here. It's close Come on. Oh Man, I was hoping for the the rubber match there The kids the kids good the kids good He awful By the way Zangief He terrible I have Alright But I love him Let check out this whole wall from one end to the other Oh wait, also, um, there is that sign. Okay, so this is from, look at that, how cool is that? This is from the show Letter Kenny, I've never seen it. And there is a, what is it? Oh, Canadian comedy show. and there's a bar called modines modines and in the bar there is this sign apparently i actually went and tried to look for the sign online but i couldn't find it so i don't know if someone can see this sign in the letter kenny show send me a link or a screenshot or something because that would be kind of cool very cool little modification and um yeah that's one of the newest additions Okay, so this wall here, this is a pretty epic wall. Oh yeah, would look better turned on, but hey, you know, let's comb down it. Still need to get that demolition man to complete the seven super pin set. But this thing, this lineup is ridiculous and it just goes on and on. Creature attack. Here we go. Medieval. We'll come right back to that. I like how it's basically center of the arcade Cactus Canyon, Tales of the Arabian Nights Nogid Gophers, Monster Bash that's in the queue for restoration as well as Tales. They're gonna get the the Grazely treatment soon enough and then Owls Garage Band and Frankenstein. So these guys will be available for sale. I mean, I think they are now. And then you can put your Scared Stiff and Circus Voltaire there. Yes, perfect. Get the full A-list WPC collection going. All right, Medieval Madness. I heard you had a decent game on it last time you were playing it. Not last time, but one of the more recent times. And you managed to get to the final wizard mode? I got into it twice. I failed the first time four shots away, and then I managed to do it afterwards. So check this out. That's me. King of the Realm. Counted for the first time. Oh, sorry. I've got to put on the glasses. August 8th, 2025. All right, okay. And that's the default one. All right. Apparently it shows all of them. And then you got some other scores of some other things too, right? Yeah, so I have. That was the score. There's the GC. 3.23. That's pretty impressive. One, two, three, and four. You need 100 mil. Castle champion. Joust champion. I was one shot away from getting that one too. Oh, you didn't get it. Ah, fail. And I have the rest of them too. Got everything but catapult. That might be our mission for tonight. Damn it. Maybe I will battle it out. see if I can become the catapult champion. Catapult ace. Catapult ace, okay. So it's playing pretty nice. So this is the finished product. Last time we filmed this, it was having a couple minor issues. We fixed the drawbridge not going all the way down. The other issue is that it slam tilted in the middle of the game. That turned it to be bad wiring on a slingshot switch. the diode was on there backwards i guess you were missing a switch altogether right yeah so the issue was that the slingshot switch was like broken so we cobbled one together out of the parts that you gave us my switch bin but the problem is that the one that we got only had two lugs instead of three so i was trying to figure out how to like attach the wires and the diodes depending on like which things were actually touching gotcha and i got to the point that it worked but like i had a diode on backwards so it was messing with the switch matrix so the coin door was closed and you hit both slingshot simultaneously you slam tilt okay that's how that happened all right i actually learned about how switch matrix worked we'll try to fix that oh very good very good it's a weird like triangulation thing that ends up doing that yeah kind of neat there's some interesting um information online too about how the switch matrix works it's pretty complex and you can really narrow things down if you know what you're doing you do triangulate i know what you mean like you find the spot on the row and the column and there's four switches that could be that's what it is yeah so it was coin door closed left sling and right sling and slam tilt was the other corner yep perfect and then that's how you narrow it down very good so he's playing like a champ so you're playing like a champ you're repairing like a champ and uh i'm gonna get me uh some catapult champion shortly good luck with that Alright, you want to see a little bit of gameplay footage of the final completed Medieval Madness. Here we go. Wait, wait, wait. I gotta come on this side. There's less glary dots. Okay, so we're one shot away, Dutch is, from destroying the castle. Oh, I was gonna say, the gate was down. Yeah, it's only one coil. It doesn't have a lock, so it's actually actively holding it up. Alright, so we'll just do a little bit of... Oh, did you see that? What the fuck was that? That was incredible. There's so much glare, though, I don't know that it even caught that. Boom! The gate went back down and blocked me. The millisecond that the ball was about to destroy the castle, the gate came down and stuffed him. That was amazing. That's some bullshit. That was some bull... The timing of that was just remarkable. Okay, here we go. Boom. I caught that. I'm sure I caught that. It's just like there's a lot of LEDs in the backbox, and they are kind of glaring onto the play field, so that back third of the play field is a little hard to see with the glass on. My hands are so sweaty right now. Dutch is one shot away. Here we go. Boom, boom, boom. There you go. Yeah. Wipe the hands. Boom. Now, I'm notoriously bad at this multiball, though. That's right. I just wanted to see a little bit of the action on the completed version of Medieval Madness. We saw a castle. We saw a multiball. Maybe if we're lucky, we'll see a jackpot. Get out of here. There we go. It would be kind of cool to see like a video mode because that's... Oh, you might have to get back to me on that one. Oh, there's another castle. Dutch is making a comeback for Ray here Ray's got like 50 million My first ball was 359,000 points So you've improved Like about 10,000% But you still got another 30 million to go The bar was pretty low Maybe if I can actually hit something Good thing I was gripping onto my phone tight otherwise that could have been smashy smashy yeah you better go out of my way all right well oh look at that did you do that on purpose yes very good he needs that catapult champion so just another literally you need 16 shots to be the catapult champion 15 to go all right yeah that's an interesting tidbit I never knew about so in the catapult zone here there's a target we're right about here okay it hard to see but once you go in through this jackpot shot there is a red target right at the top of the lane there it so hard to see I being covered by the banner You can kind of see it through the wire form I guess If you hit that target that will give you a catapult shot And then when it lands in here to fire, it gives you a second catapult shot. So you can technically get two catapult shots in one flip, which I never knew about. That's pretty freaking cool. I didn't even know there was a target there. Oh, thank God. And it shot right through the hole. Thank God it did. I don't want one bad note. Oh, okay. He's got two multi balls ready here, the Joust Madness and the Catapult Madness. I try to get them all ready one before so I don't accidentally start one. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. So I can go like one, two, three, four, five and have them all ready. And then get royal madness. Well no, if you light all five for multiball madness you get like stupid points. Oh yeah? Oh, okay. Because everything's a super jackpot. You have four balls, ridiculous ball saver, everything's like a million points. I want to try that come on you can do it pressure's on now for Madness is ready to go all you gotta do is hit the scoop with the trolls ready trolls ready everything And my mind up might even just give me trolls troll madness. All right, don't fuck it up Lock Oh late mom, okay. Here we go money shot mouth shut like okay I whisper is gonna post pass actually backhanded that before from a slight live hey didn't screw it up attaboy open drawbridge And then if I complete the Trolls it's going to give me Troll Madness as well. That's cool, I want to see it. So all priority goes to those Trolls. And then Royal Madness will be ready after all is said and done. After I stack the multiball heads. So he's got to smack some Trolls. And it was not registering. There he is. Do you have any Troll Bombs? No. No, light is not lit. okay troll madness just kicked in all five madnesses are active basically is this five multi balls stacked together that was violent like felt that knocker I like I like feeling knockers by the way Every shot is a million points. Oh, there's another double super Shit he may actually just pull this off Ray's got like 55 million Still got 20 million to go but So after you drain one ball, you gotta go back in the scoop? Yes. Royal Madness is ready once the multiball ends. And Royal Madness is like a four-ball multiball? No. That is Battle for the Kingdom. Royal Madness is the one ball, every shot is a hurry-up sort of thing. Okay. You have to hit every shot twice. Gotta hit every shot twice in Royal Madness. Battle for the Kingdom is a four-ball. That's the wizard mode. Alright Ah, so you got his first blue light Nice little super jackpot on the way out the door That's not almost a chance But there's the first blue light In order to get to battle for the kingdom You need all those lights Yeah, I'm looking I have a lot of single things completed Like single damsels and single peasants and whatnot So I got some work to do for that The extra balls being off doesn't help Oh that's true. Nice save. Noooo! Oh man! That was such a good J save too. That was a typical J the neighbor save. Look at that! 9 million. So close. Alright, Ray is the big winner of game number 1. But we're on to a new mission now. We are going to try to play the ever elusive video mode on this game. And in order to do that, you need to hit the fire lanes and spell fire. We have it set to the easiest setting, which is five completions of fire. Five sets. Five sets. So once we get there, we'll see if we can destroy some, what is it, eagles? Eagles or vultures, I forget. Vultures. We've got to, like, sword fight with some birds. There's some babies crawling around on the ground or something. The children. The children. This is the greatest video mode in pinball, perhaps. All right, here's the tour again with all the machines on just for fun while we are playing Monster Bash We gave up on the video mode challenge on Medieval Madness but we may Try again because apparently you can get That mode enabled with cows and we may have to pull up the glass In order to show that off and experience it.
