## Transcript

Thank you. Hey, shut your trap. Joining me, as always, halfway across the world, it's Jared Morgz. Howdy, how. South Park's killing it, by the way. Oh, are they ever. They are not mucking about, are they? No, not at all. Oh, it's so good. I'm watching your episode going, oh, boys. Yeah. You're really doing it here. Yeah, I love it. That I'm, I know that all the business with the FCC is probably a little strange to you and Ozzy. I don't know how much information got over to your end of the world. Oh, yeah, we got the whole, the way that they executed flawlessly the plan before they signed their massive contract. It was glorious. No, no, no, that's not the thing that I'm talking about. No, it's in terms of one of our talk show hosts, Jimmy Kimmel, got pulled off the air because the FCC, Brendan Carr, basically did a threat on a podcast and made Disney blink. And they went, yeah, let's take that off. So that's the – and this last episode of South Park was entirely just, like, obliterating Brandon Carr, literally. Yeah. So, yeah. It's great. It's good times. It's good stuff. They're doing amazing work this season. There's no doubt about it. Honestly, I think it's actually quite important work. Yes. that they're doing, the way that they're aligning everything week after week about what's going on, which they can do because they turn these episodes around in a week, which is wild to think that they can do it. There are angles on some of the stuff they're talking about. I'm not even in the US, right? No, that's what's amazing is that you're still getting the humor all the same. Oh yeah, I'm getting everything they're putting down. We see so much Trump coverage over here in Australia because our Prime Minister is going over there and having a chat to old Cheeto. So, you know, we hear a lot about all that sort of stuff. My son's been watching with me, and after we watch, he winds up going and watching, like, I don't know, summation videos or whatever, basically to have all the references that he doesn't get explained to him. Yeah. Like, there's even some guys that I was listening to a podcast where they're like, yeah Vance's tattoo from Fancy Island I don't know that show at all and I'm like yeah because it was a show in the 70s I'm familiar with it but I'm not surprised that it was a show from the 70s there's some deep deep cuts oh yeah I know that I'm missing and the thing is that the great thing is that you don't miss anything no you don't need them You don't get them. No, they just – all it does is enhances the joke even more, but whether you know it or not, it's still just dang funny. Yeah. Yeah. That's great. So that's a stellar piece of television. It is a stellar piece of television. It's not a stellar piece of television. It might be related to what I'm wearing, right? That's right. Which, by the way, hey, Zen, see this Xenomorph playing pinball? I want aliens in pinball, please. I wish we could be doing exactly what that Xenomorph was doing right now in VR while the series is running yes so that series Alien Earth my god it was everything that I hoped for Jared and I'm pretty sure I was singing the praises way back when because I knew who the creator of the show was and he created Legion and Fargo both shows that I absolutely adored and loved the writing of so I was like yeah this is going to be great and then after the first two episodes I was like it's great yep they didn't muck around with the first two episodes like there was so much foreshadowing in the first couple of episodes you were going you knew what was kind of coming with the little flashes I love how they assemble the intro and they just have that classic alien like logo coming in with all this other stuff happening around it It's just like, oh, there's going to be bad stuff going down in the show. It also pretty much right away, and most of that was in the second episode, gave you, there's your xenomorph. We're going to show you some stuff you've never seen before with them killing and doing things. We're going to get that out of the way, and then we'll start the show with back to the roots of we don't know what the scary is, what the origins are. Yep. And then they built back up to that, which I thought was an amazing bit of narrative storytelling. Yeah. Gorgeous in the way they did that. That's the thing that really got me is all the different arcs and introducing the new creatures as well has made the whole thing completely fresh. Yeah, it's interesting. The creator of the show, Noah Hawley, he basically said nobody's scared of a xenomorph anymore. No, we all know what it is. Yeah. Yeah, so by introducing other creatures that we don't know what they are, that helps amp up tension. And then, of course, you have the characters where you're like, are they good? Are they bad? What are they doing? And they're very polymorphic, the characters. You don't really know until it gets towards the end where they're aligning. and that's really really an interesting play as well which I was really enjoying in the series so it's quite phenomenal did they stick the season finale ending what do you think I was hoping for one more episode like I think there's some unresolved stuff that I don't oh there's a ton of unresolved stuff yeah uh well i mean it's good because it means we're getting another series so yeah i'm happy about that so have they told how many series they've got okay so it hasn't actually been 100 confirmed however fx pretty much told him we're really amped for this show before it even released. Right. And they said, if it goes the way that we think it's going, we want you to write two more seasons before you even think of touching another season of Fargo. That's how up on that they were. So it got the critical response. I think it's getting the buzz from the conversation. I think it was I didn't see what the ratings were but I didn't see anybody reporting that nobody's watching either so I think it's all but guaranteed that we'll get another we'll get those other two seasons I think the fans would revolt if they didn't because there's unresolved stuff there and it's not resolved in a way that would allow you to reconcile it in your mind okay I think I know what would have happened if they went with a new series like no I actually really don't know No, it's pretty big cliffhangers. Yeah. I have no idea where they're going with this. It's great. I cannot wait for the next series. I think the thing that just impresses me the most is the production design. They absolutely nailed the alien time frame of what things would look like. the the ship the magina is exactly the same as what the nostromo was built like um you could tell they were built at the same time you know same era of ship uh and and then they also the production design once they're back on earth it was very much they said um they basically went shopping for what would have been available at the same time that alien was actually made so in the 70s so a lot of the design choices and the furniture that was used is stuff that would have been kind of of that era and then and then how alien did it where they modified it to make it look futuristic they did the exact same thing as opposed to taking something that looks futuristic today and trying to retro mod it to something that looked like it was in the past Right That interesting because that That aesthetic that you see in the show is kind of unwritten Yeah. Like, you don't notice that it's sort of like of a 70s taste, but now you've mentioned it, it's like, oh, yeah, I can see that. Even everything, too, there's a sunken couch. Oh, yes. It's in a pit, and it's kind of a circular couch. That was such a 70s... That's a 70s thing. Yeah, like that sort of... And the raised, like in the councillor's room or whatever you call it. Yeah. Like that area is very 70s, like with the see-through brick style dividers and everything. It's subtle, but now you mention it, it's like, yep, that's like a modern 70s house. Yeah. Or 70s room. It's great. Yeah. Really great. Now, there's a lot to love about the series, So if you haven't watched it, get on it. You'd be mad if you haven't watched it because it's good. Although I can understand if you haven't because if you don't have a streaming service that FX is on, good luck. I'm pretty sure that with a VPN you can transmit to the – if you already have Disney Plus in, then you could – I don't know. What did you watch it on, Jared? I watched it on Plex. Okay. Okay. But what I'm saying is, obviously, you guys are able to get Disney Plus in Australia, right? Yeah, we do. Right. FX is a sub-brand of Disney Plus. It is. And if you have a VPN, then you just change your country to the U.S. and voila. Yeah. I don't think they've actually – I'm getting ads for it here. Yeah. So local ads for Alien Earth here. So I have a feeling they've – what they used to call syndicated it down here. Gotcha. it yeah just to watch it yeah because it's too big for them not to like there's no way they will be restrictive no you know no so yeah no it's great um need more of it and again come on sam give it to me give me my aliens and avp and alien isolation pinball please yeah all of them yeah i want them in vr because they would just be so good in vr you know it's It's funny because when I think about what tables that haven't gotten, come even to FX, Pinball FX, not just VR, but Pinball FX in general, it's the Aliens tables. And honestly, I want the Bethesda pack just because I want Doom. Right. Yeah. Because then I know that those will come to add games and come to VR. Yeah, I think they would be really, really good. Yeah, there's clearly something going on there with the negotiations. like the the alien license must be causing problems no we know it's not that jared it's when a couple years back obviously fox got merged into or got bought out by disney right yeah uh and then disney did something like 7 000 uh layoffs and those 7 000 people that got laid off were your higher pay salary kind of deals yeah and it affected espn it did fx it you know it was you know executive level stuff right yeah one of the things that affected was the fox licensor bye-bye uh and then has lost the contact and i mean i'm sure that disney has since picked up the slack but it's very low priority um right in that respect so honestly i think that's where the hang up is it's just finding the right person with the keys to go oh yeah you can re-release that it's fine everything everything's here just give us a bit more money and we're good yeah special disney gets a little bit casher you know yeah and who knows i mean as these things like you said now that it's hot again maybe that it makes it easier to start the conversation up and maybe zen goes and we'll make yet another table especially with predator badlands about to come out there's a lot of new alien stuff happening alien and predator content easy peasy i mean fresh fresh alien all right so that's uh that's one bit of uh scary content we have our announcement from Zen about the Halloween scary content pinball of this year, which is Elvira's Scared Stiff Table. It could only be one thing. It had to be scared stiff. I mean, people have been clamoring for that for a long time. I know people were like, oh, we hope it's Dracula, but you don't, like, I don't hear Dracula nearly as much. I think that's more about a, well, that's another horror table I can think of as opposed to people really want Scared Stiff. They really want Scared Stiff, yep. We had that trailer that we were able to, that they posted, able to see the animations on there. They got Elvira just sitting there. Reposing in the back of the play field there. Yeah, not Pinball M either. It's just coming to Pinball FX. yeah yes i've had a look at the uh there was some conjecture on the uh pimple effects discord about the art because there's on there's like the one version where you see the classic alvira cleavage and then there's the the one that you're seeing in vr doesn't not have the cleavage or there's there's a there's a switch around which has got like a a crop top on underneath which is like oh that's that's off brand man and i'm saying this quite literally because it's like there is a notice that they showed vr footage i didn't even i don't think i paid attention uh there was there were oh no maybe i'm mistaken there was definitely footage floating around of steam um and yeah it has like there's shots floating around on the disco where it's clearly not the plunging neckline that you're so maybe they're offering an edited version or maybe Elvira changes outfits depending on what's going on in the in the scenario maybe maybe she yeah maybe that could be a possibility I was just the reason why I said with the VR because that's the big question is what's going to be standing next to the table is it going to be Elvira or not and i can already hear the request so alvarez statue when yeah well because we got we got the tomb raider statue and i i kind of feel that's the way they're going to go purely because with tomb raider laura was running around on the playfield yeah and it would have been weird to have her running around on the playfield and have her standing next to you yes but we got the statue and i i have a feeling that's what's going to be the case with this too i do as well and i have a feeling that it's going to be um it's not going to be the statue that we probably want it's going to be it's going to be the statue that will will have the the crop top on i think um and it's it's a it's a fair call i don't know i don't know how cassandra would feel about changing the overall look. Maybe it's... There must be ways that they can do it that doesn't alter what is essentially a very clearly defined brand. Yeah. And it's... Well, I mean, they did do it for... Was it Party Monsters that had the modesty cover sticker that went over the front of her? Oh, the spider web. Yeah, on the cleavage. yeah yeah yeah yeah it was there was a spider web on on i'm surprised they they should have honestly lent into that i know that scared stiff isn't party monsters but yeah they should have totally lent into the spider web over the cleavage i reckon that would be a funny nod so obviously once it's available we'll be able to uh share footage here and uh go into more what what we see what we have uh day and date with vr and with at games also yep which is i love this that this is what zen is doing they're not making they're not making you pick your platform i don't know if i was switch part of the announcement i didn't hear anything specifically about switch but we know that switch has had some challenges we're trying to line up with a release that which is unfortunate. It is. But it's much better than what it used to be where it was, oh yeah it'll come to Xbox, Playstation and Steam and that's it. And then sometimes it wouldn't even come to Playstation or Steam, I mean Playstation or Xbox right away. And so it was like your Steam players would be all the hype and everybody else was like and then that would make people angry and sad and not being able to play or they would buy it and then be complaining about well, I had to buy it so I could play it, but that wasn't the platform of choice I wanted, whereas now it's legitimately just like, hey, if you only want to buy it once, buy it for the platform you legitimately wanted to play it on. Yeah, it's good. i am very curious with at games are we going to finally get an animated back glass for the spinner you have to because there's no way you can't well no it's real simple they do exactly what they what normally happens when there is a a game it just becomes your main screen so there's a possibility that they'll just overwrite what you see and there it is to me this is the test case yep if they do it right if they make it functional in that manner then that gives me hope for Safecracker being able to do the same have they not done Safecracker yet on AtGames No, no, we haven't gotten Safecracker yet. We haven't gotten that pack yet. I'll talk about it in a moment. We just recently got two packs for it. Yeah, but nothing that has used the Bat Glass yet, right? So Circus Voltaire, which uses the Bat Glass. Party Monsters, or not Party Monsters, Scared Stiff. I'm going to always get my L-Virus mixed up. Scared Stiff obviously requires it. what's another one that I know uses it heavily Banzai Run yeah Banzai Run that's what I'm hoping for we need to ramp up into this let's make it so that Scared Stiff works and we go yes it functions then go with a safecracker where it needs to be functional a lot, not just occasionally but it's going a lot and if that's not giving you any issues then let's bring on Bonsai and have it function in that manner Bonsai is going to be interesting because Bonsai the backbox in Bonsai is not a typical it's almost as high as a playfield yeah and also the other thing is that it connects directly to the play field whereas at games you know we've got a dmd in the middle so yeah there's there's an argument to be made of why you wouldn't want it but i just wonder why you might want it or i don't know man or it's where i just go and vr is the king i think in this case yeah vr is the way it does because the thing that's really nice the way they've done bonzo run in pinball effects flat is really nice that transition yeah that was a great transition it's like oh that's just lovely lovely lovely lovely so they could do something quite similar in vr where i mean you'd be able to see the table at all times but then you know you'd be able to like have the the motorcycle follow up and start to zoom in a bit on the on the um the backbox so it actually comes into full view smoothly so i think that would be an interesting way of doing it um for vr i almost just go who cares just leave it as the backbox you may not need to but i'm just feeling like it's it's far enough away that it's like you might want it to be brought closer because it depending on the resolution you're running it like if you're not running qgo or like any optimizer program that might be pretty jaggy up the back that far away so i don't know maybe they'll be able to sharpen it up i don't know i don't know i'd still love to see how they they bring that one into vr because that's a that's gonna be great like i'm actually looking at all the the rest of the content in um the williams content hasn't made it over in vr and just going wow we've got so much to look forward to yeah like yeah so many good games in there yeah well i mean there's where okay i'll talk about what just got brought into uh with with ad games um a couple of weeks ago we received let me look uh ah we received williams volume four uh so that is hurricane boo uh road show yay and whitewater yay um yeah two good one bad two good one bad yeah um i've been playing a lot of road show just because and that was one of those it's it's the wide body you know so things look a little bit smaller it shrinks it a little bit but at least it's not squeezing it um unlike what farsight did with black hole yeah that thing looks ridiculous that was dumb um and then just uh The other day, this week, we got Volume 6, which is Funhaus, Dr. Dude, and Space Station, which I will argue again, two good, one eh. Yeah, you choose which one is the bad. I never thought that I would wish for Space Shuttle, but I really wish they'd done Space Shuttle instead of Space Station. I don't mind Space Station. Once you get to know it, and you get to know the shots and how to do things on it. Yeah, I think... It's fun. I just... I love having the no return lanes on it. That's what I hate. That's what you hate. Oh, really? I like that. I don't like playing EMs that are that way either. It just ruins it for me. Interesting. Yeah. I don't know. It's not a bad table. No, you're right. It's not a bad table. You just have to learn it a little bit. It's not whack around and have fun. Yes. but uh fun house i was reminded good lord turn off the enhancements oh it's just it's a visual nightmare as far as i'm concerned oh with all the balloons and the balloons and the ramp that they're the i don't know the staircase thing it just it's gross it's gross and i turn i turn off the visual enhancements on roadshow also i feel that they distract i did leave them on on space station interestingly enough they look great on space station yeah honestly i think space station is you really need to play it with the enhancements on and the only thing about space station that annoyed me a little bit when it was originally released on flat is that it that the space shuttles tend to obscure the view yeah when they get parked and docked and that was a bit annoying but i think in vr it's not going to be a problem No, I feel like it's going to be when we play Mars in VR. Yeah. Everything started to make sense. Yeah, you can see through the stuff. Yeah. I never even bothered playing Hurricane with enhancements on because I want that clown to go away. Well, that clown needs to die in the hottest fire that we can find. I know that we said it a long time ago when we first got Hurricane. they should have just made it Pennywise turn it into an it table and then I would have been down for it but you know it makes me wonder like we're talking about all the Williams tables and all that sort of stuff that's just been released for AtGames and I'm going okay well if they've got mobile versions of the ones for AtGames then I wonder if that kind of paves the way for it going into maybe Zen pinball world and then coming over to VR. Because we did see that when Zen Pinball World got a bunch of new Williams tables, it wasn't long after that that VR also got those same packs released. So, yeah, I wonder. I wonder if that's the transition plan. go at games first get them developed for an android chipset or mobile chipset then over to zem pinball world to get them over to the new engine and then over to um vr because it's a shared engine then they just need to do the assets that's like the pipeline they're using yeah yeah it's very possible i think that zen is probably prioritizing the williams titles to go into VR over anything else just because that's what's going to draw people in. That's what people want to play in combination with the X-Arcade, TBT Arcade, XR mouthful. I wish that name would – I just call it the X-Arcade VR. X-Arcade, yeah, just X-Arcade VR. That's much better, yeah. That rolls off the tongue much better, X-Arcade VR. But you combine that with the Williams stuff and it brilliant And then you go and you play some of the other titles that are in there and you like hey this is fun too but ultimately i heard from people they just want the williams stuff um so once you have the williams stuff then it's a question of well what are what are we going to get um we already didn't i think we've it's been kind of confirmed that if it's already in a vr you know if it was in vr classics or star wars vr it's staying in those staying in there for the foreseeable future those aren't going to be the first ones to come over which is a shame because that means that universal room won't be getting jaws and jaws well i don't really care about et well that actually no i don't but et would actually make sense in vr probably and Because it's weird looking table. Well, back to the future in VR. Come on. Yeah. Come on. It's so good in the classic. And that's using that engine. That's old. Imagine what they could do with Unreal 5. Yeah. I am surprised, though, that Jurassic Park hasn't made its way into VR yet. Yeah, me too. That's so obvious to bring in. Because that would sell. that's a big that's a big title i think obviously the star wars stuff would sell um i think the marvel stuff but marvel's a whole i reckon people are getting a bit tired of star wars they're getting a little bit exhausted by it and i don't know i see people request that's like the number one request for ad games oh star wars yeah really yeah not marvel though no star wars star wars well part of it means because you know we got teased that we were getting star wars and now people want star wars um well okay i with marvel there's not a lot of ones i want to see in marvel no it would be one of the ones i want to see but just because it would look great well you know how much i love fear itself so that's the one that i most want yeah that's another one that will be really good but there's not like a lot of titles in there like the thing with the marvel tables they were very much they very much had the fx to feel to yes like they were they really yeah they they they would need a bit of polish done to them to bring them up to the standard of the later star wars tables and the new stuff that they're bringing in yeah otherwise they would feel honestly they'd feel quite chunky yeah but like where's the uh where's the pinball m stuff yeah what's going on with that you know like and this is in both at games and vr like well we've got some we've got chucky and we've got the thing in in ad games yeah uh because we had nothing in vr right that's what i'm saying it's like yeah you know those two made it let's bring him over come on uh this whole thing about M, I've been wondering for a while is it actually time to have a conversation about ending the experiment with M and bringing those tables back into the main product because we haven't had a release in a while yeah we haven't and I just wonder the really good thing about M was it was the thing that brought us questlines and survival mode and score, quick to score mode, like those were the experiments in the wild that Zen experimented with and proved to be incredibly popular, now they're back in the main product, right so the main line of PimbleFX so I just wonder have they have they got enough information from that test in the wild, which is PimbleM to now bring those tables back into the main product again and work out how to present it in there because it seems that production slowed on on those franchises so if it's sort of going to be that and nothing else then i don't know i would be okay with having them brought back into the main product line again yeah i know that it's not an obviously it's not an issue for ad games because they don't care about the esrb ratings No, they don't. I don't think that's going to be a problem for Meta either. Meta's not going to have a problem with it, I don't think. Steam doesn't have a problem with it. It ultimately is PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch. They're the issue. And that's the problem. Mm-hmm. but it's also like if we're not going to get new content in there, then let's not have it be dead weight. Let's bring it over. So, yeah, I don't know. As always, I also would love to see Super League in, in VR. I love that table. it's so much fun i don't care that i have to spend like 45 50 minutes playing it i love that table it's just a good time um but that's a problem like it's such a long player that you just go i just go i just want to i wanted to end like after about 30 minutes but you can't you know yeah yeah well it becomes a matter for me of just seeing how long i can you know how many matches i can beat how many times i can uh wizard the thing you know but uh i'm it is curious like i do think that you're on to something though with the pipeline uh convert to android for ad games and optimize um because they have to do a ton of yeah and then it's like yeah it's like and then then optimize mobile then optimize again for vr yeah because vr you can you can increase a little bit uh from from what you you're putting with ad games uh but it does seem to that would seem to make sense uh we just need to see more releases i mean like i said i'm thankful for the day and date because that keeps the vr going with new content uh yeah that's really coming but it's when is the legacy stuff coming i want to see more of this legacy stuff um yeah what what williams packs are we missing well all those ones that you've said like for oh yeah you're right so volume four volume five yep and 6 and 7 and because we've got 1, 2 and 3 and then we're missing 4, 5, 6 and 7 and I think we're missing oh no because we've got Star Trek yeah so which ones are I think it's 4, 5 and 6 I think yeah because we've got 7 and 8 because they're the most recent ones with World Cup soccer and all. We got stand-alones. That's what we got. The individual ones, remember? Okay, that's right. They weren't volumes. They were like stand-alone tables. Yeah. Okay. So we are probably missing four, five, six, and seven as well. So a lot. There's a lot of gaps in the roster at the moment. Well, hopefully we'll get there. um and hopefully hopefully this is the track that goes but hopefully like i wonder i wonder if we're uh going to have any uh exciting presents given to us over the uh the 25-year celebration for zen oh you think there's something uh you think there's something coming i mean i guess i don't know they they it was weird that they mentioned it because i went well what's What's that mean for us? So you think it means something for us? Are we going to have another December to remember? Remember that December where it was like nine tables got dropped? I'm looking at you strangely because we're having that problem again, Chris. Oh, wow. I'm just going to go through it. I can't understand anything you're saying. Tell you what. I think that's then what I'm going to leave it at. Is that the – we don't know if Jared's having audio issues with hearing me. But, I don't know, something for all to ponder, something for you all to make a comment on. We'll be talking soon. And keep your eyes open for some special unboxing videos. Yeah. Or testing videos. All sorts of stuff. All right. That's what I got for you, folks. Thank you, as always, for listening to us. Next time we'll be talking about, of course, Jared's favorite items to talk about, which is... stuff and things. All right. Until then. Bye folks. Bye bye.
