Let's kick the Friday blog post off by talking about two (likely) upcoming pinball machines. The first is a home brew game that went over huge when it was shown off at last year's Pintastic New Robert Englunds show. I was at the event and people absolutely loved it. The game is called "Battle Stations" by a company called Myth Pinball. It's a head-to-head game in the style of beloved games like Williams' 1983 game Joust and Gottlieb's 1971 pin Challenger.

Earlier this week, Myth Pinball filed trademarks for both its name and the name "Battle Stations." Does this mean that the game is going to go into production? We'll see, but this sort of move is often a precursor to games getting made. I have reached out to Myth Pinball and will update everyone when I know anything more about this game potentially coming to market. I sure hope that it does, it's a blast to play.

Game two that is coming soon is from HEXA Pinball. I spoke with HEXA this morning and they informed me that their second pinball machine, "The 3 Musketeers" will be revealed on Friday March 20th. The game will be revealed simultaneously at an event at a gallery in Bordeaux, France and at the Texas Pinball Festival. I can't wait to see what it's like.

Next up we have a really cool video that the 3D CAD software company SolidWorks released in collaboration with Barrels of Fun pinball about how the Company uses the software to design games. The video shows off the design process and has a lot of great behind-the-scenes footage of Barrels' Houston, Texas factory where we see its two latest games Winchester Mystery House and Dune in various stages of being built.

Let's shift gears and move over to the video game side of the arcade business. Late yesterday Alan-1, maker of the mechanical PONG table and more recently cabinets based on the "Recharged" series of Atari games, revealed that its next machine will be based on Atari's new Yars: Recharged game. The art looks fantastic. Below is a video of the game, which is currently available to purchase on Steam, in action. No word yet on what changes will be made to the commercial version of the game for arcades.
