All right, it is a beautiful spring day. It is going to be 20° C today. Sorry all you Americans that are watching. I don't speak Fahrenheit. I only speak inches and Celsius. I don't know my conversion, but it's nice. And I'm going to head over to the Grazley garage. I was away for the weekend in Ohio for the mega match play tournament. Many a bed was shat once again. I was one of the uh the lowest performing a players in the whole 150 u players that showed up. Uh there was one player that was worse. Shotty boy. We're always battling to see uh we got our player versus player count on IFPA and we've been like so close. We're like tied for the longest time. Something like 72 wins versus 72 wins, but I one upped him on that tournament. So, our player versus player stats is going to improve one or two notches in my favor. But anyway, Shauny Boy and I were the two worst performing A players in that tournament. Anyway, now that I'm back, got to head over to the Grazley garage. There is some activities going on over there. Um, he bought a Volkswagen bus and it looks crazy. It looks huge and the paint job is insane. It's very red, white, and blue. Speaking of American, so it is uh it is something to be seen, to behold. And we got to check this out. He's making good progress on the slugfest. Oh, also I closed a deal. I was working on this for like a couple weeks. The communications were very dicey. Never did talk to the guy on the phone. He text me photos from a phone number that when I tried to call said the number is not in service. And I asked him to call me. He ended up just texting me photos from a different number. It was a little little sketchy, but I it was 3 hours away from me in Ashwa and I didn't want to go necessarily and pick it up, but I did ask Dave a still cuz he does deliveries. So, pinballrom.com and if you want a pinball machine moved, he'll do that for you, too. So, I got Dave in calling one to go to Ashwa to pick this machine up for me at this random farm or shop or wherever it was. And then uh he was going to bring it to me, but I was in Ohio, so I had him drop it off at Kevin's. And from the what the photos I've seen, this may be one of the top five worst condition pinball machines I've ever purchased. And I'm excited about it. It's a supersonic. And Kevin said that the photos that I sent to our little group to show off the machine said the photos that I sent to that group actually made the machine look good. So, it might be worse than uh what I'm anticipating, but that's half the fun. I only had like six photos to go on. Oh, yeah. This road is closed still. I got to go around. We're going to check out this supersonic for the first time when I am there. See just how bad it is and see if we can find any quarters in it. Also, I believe the $6 million man playfield swap is coming along. And I know some parts for the Tales of the Arabian Knights have shown up, including all the chrome and the playfield. I'm intentionally not looking just yet. Plus, I got to get past the address so you can't come and steal Kevin's pinball machines and his Volkswagen buses. But here they are. Yeah, Dutch was toying with the idea of becoming a jukebox guy, but I realized a little bit in. I'm like, you know what? I don't want to drive around to people's houses and fix this stuff. This looks just horrible. Oh my god. At least most of it was kind of working. Kind of working. It see none of the motors were seen. Oh, it really doesn't work. Yeah, it doesn't work anymore. Oh yeah, I think basically all of the relays were shot though. Look at this. That's really not working. Like a pinball machine is bad enough. This This looks like Imagine trying to deadlift. Way worse. Trying imagine trying to deadlift this thing out of the juke box to service it on the bottom as well. Uh, no thanks. That's why there's no jukebox guys around cuz who wants to deal with that? The bottom side there, top side here. This is like 150 lbs. Well, it's a lot lighter now. Yeah. So, that's the good news. Got micro switches. Interesting. Yeah, just there just nothing really cool about that. Good riddance. Nothing that a a Spotify and a Bluetooth receiver can't do better. Yeah, exactly. Like I said, old meets new. Keep keep the cool look of the old, but that's the kind of the idea. Modernize the technology. All right, what's going on in here? Oh, so should be uh Supersonic floating around somewhere. Not in here. But uh the slugfest is We've made some good progress on this. This I was here on Thursday. Was I here on Thursday? No, I saw John Trest on Thursday. Y this was just a blue cabinet. He dropped off the decals Thursday afternoon. Thursday night. You sent me photos of this thing entirely decaled. So you moved quick. And you got all the red powder coating. Yeah. Which they called me actually Thursday. So once John left, I drove out there, picked up the powder coating. Oh, no way. Oh, wow. So you had powder coating installed Thursday as well. Uh I put the T- molding and everything on first. Okay. Well, it looks a heck of a lot better than uh when it was like flesh pink faded to hell. Got the topper installed, the speaker panel. This looks great. All this powder coating. Oh, look. Cleaned up nice. That looks really nice. Look at that. And there's no like broken pieces either. I know. They're all black, but I noticed them and they all came out like super nice. Oh, yeah. Very nice. All right. Art blades. That'll be a nice finishing touch. I ordered them a long time ago, but hopefully they'll be new this week. Where' they come from? Planetary or something? No, it's just the decals uh came from planetary. Okay. The art blades were pin graphics, I think. Pin graphics for the art blades. And then uh you just got to pop in the playfield. What's this? That's the overlay I still got to do for the Oh, for the panel. Oh wow. That's quite the before and after. The front edge is worn right off. This came from Phoenix Arcade cuz uh Planetary was out of stock. Oh, you're going to have to customize uh Oh, no. I was going to say you're going to have to cut out the squares, but no, that fits underneath. Yeah. Very cool. And then these are your parts for a $6 million man. Yep. How's this coming? I love me a chrome coin door. That is beautiful. There was one on the Tron at past times that I played on. It was a Tron LE and it was gorgeous. So, that's going to be amazing. All right, let's check out this playfield. Ooh. Let's maybe even look at the front side. It probably looks exactly like what you think it does. Ah, it does. Very cool. It's purple. Yeah. It's going to be incredible. That is not a cheap project. No. It's going to be a $20,000 Tales of the Arabian Nights. $6 million. It's going to be a freaking museum piece, though. Okay. And uh let's before we get to the best part of the whole video, let's go check out Dutch's uh latest project here. You got a sneak preview of it after you. Um when I uh did a little tour of what was inside my storage unit, so I did show this off a little bit. It looks pretty much the same on the outside. I kind of just started like yesterday, two days ago. Yeah. The whole idea is sort of leave it the way it is. Maybe touch up the outside a little bit, make it look nice, but kind of keep the form factor. Yeah. But on the inside, take out the 45s and all the stuff and just put like a Bluetooth receiver, whatnot. I can open this. Oh, neat. Oh, that's some cool design there, too. I love the blue metallic blue on this thing. So, this thing was a lot more full before. Yeah. Still working on getting everything out. Yeah. So, it's a lot more manageable now in terms of weight. Yeah. So, this thing hinges down the front. I think I have the hinges. Oh, Yeah. It's not actually It's not actually attached right now. Even that piece looks like it weighs 100 lbs. Not really. Not so bad. It's just a lot of the weight comes from the really thick wood that the stuff uses. Okay. Well, you definitely uh learned a thing or two about juke boxes already. I learned I don't want to work on them. Yeah, you learned enough to uh to know. I'll just put this over here. I'll put it back later. All right. You should have hid in the juke box and scared me that way. I didn't think of it. We should try and hide on your dad. I don't know that you could actually fit, though. I mean, I wouldn't want to do it to you. There's a lot of sharp things up there. Uh yeah, you probably decapitate yourself. Well, that's what the inside of a jukebox looks like. Look at this um fluorescent tube. It's got Oh, I can I can actually It actually still works. Oh, yeah. Yeah. For some reason, it literally just uses a wall outlet. Oh, okay. It plugs into the power supply. So, if you got an extension cord, I can work. Yeah. Let's check it out. Why? Why does this exist? I know the Why do I need this? That's dumb. Williams, why did you do that on some machines, not others? Computer plug. All right. So, we're going to steal some power from Tales of the Arabian Nights. It'll be all right. Usually the workhorse is creature a regular plug. This one's nice and close. Okay, here we go. It's starting to light up. Let's close it back down and see what she looks like. Oh, very cool. Oh, that's neat. Colors. I like that a lot. And then the other two is up here. You can't really see it with the lights on, though. Oh, and maybe with the flash on too. It's not as bright, but yeah. Very cool. All right. Well, looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Is this the coin return? Is this coin op? There's no quarters in there. Damn it. Did you find any money in this thing? No. Fail. Actually, at Pastimes Arcade, there was all these uh old machines, like wood rails on the shelves, like shelves and shelves of machines. And me and this one dude were like going through the coin uh returns to see if there was any money in any of them, but there wasn't, sadly. Maybe there will be in supersonic work got to him first. So, you had no idea what was getting delivered while I was gone. I just said it's a surprise machine and you're going to love it. Yes. And I guess it's Shack Attack. You said it was cool, but not that cool. Not as cool as Shack Attack. So, there was a a significant hint for you there. Okay. So, this is uh your first indicator of um the storage conditions is the sheer amount of rust on the legs. The fact there's like straw or something on the What is this? This is This might be hay. It's like a official barn find. It is the original legs though. And you know Oh, a little bit rough. Yeah, a little bit. A little bit. All right. So, side of the head is actually not that bad, but It's a little chunky there. And do you want to pull out this back glass for me? Look. I mean, there used to be paint. Oh my god. I was just going to say you're going to lose you're going to lose a few chunks. What back glass? That's just a piece of Oh my. My house called I wanted it wants it window back. You know what? If we just like add a spray clear over top of that, it should be fine. And yeah, I got my foot there just to Oh my god. I kind of want to just rub it off, but maybe I should leave it. Usually it at the bottom is completely gone, but the uh the trim has held the paint in place. So, how many years of weather and how many winters and summers would it take for this to happen on a back glass? Okay. I have not seen inside. Oh, it's got these stupid screws. This one here. Oh, just needs some strength. Not seen the inside yet. Okay. All the boards are there, so that's good. Solenoid driver doesn't look too horrible, actually. It's missing the cover, so somebody might have been working on it. Power supply got some rust on the bracket. Missing a fuse. No fuses have been like tinfoiled, so that's nice. Soundboard looks okay. Lamp driver looks okay. Holy The MPU is not completely roached despite having the original battery. That's kind of surprising. That's the uh that's the good news thus far and maybe the only good news. Holy crap. What the f is going on with these displays, dude? These are roached. All these displays. I'd be afraid to turn on the machine. I think the head was rained on or something, but you know, it's kind of what I was expecting. All right, let's close that up. You know what? Doesn't smell like barn surprisingly. I thought it was going to smell a lot worse. Get the dust down. Yeah. Can you sweep up my black back glass paint, please? All right. Now, for the body, I'm not sticking my hand in there. Even if there is a quarter, it will like I'll catch something if I do. I do see a switch, a bolt. Um, some more hardware. I don't see anything too interesting. Some head bolts, I think. What do you got? Dust pan. Here we go. Sweeping up my back glass. I just got these pants yesterday. Oh, poor Super Sonic. This is what you've become. Oh, and the piece of hay. The brunt of the joke. All right, don't let me distract you from your equally as gross cabinet. All right, let's see. What do we got? Um, dirt, mildew, mold. That sounds about right. Water damage. Is there more in there? I need to get rust. Uh, dust. I should zoom out a little bit so we can see a little better. Uh, significant wear, some original myar. Actually, the myar chunk here kind of protected uh some of the playfield. And yeah. Okay. It's about what I expected. Oh, are these LEDs for me? From Dave. Those are Thanks, Dave. Like I said, pinballrom.com for also all your LED needs. Put those in my pocket so I don't forget. So, the cabinet is structurally okay, it seems. Oh, wait. You want to pull that off? No. I don't want to touch it anymore. Yeah, it's kind of nasty. I mean, other than this, it's fine. And this Oh. Oh, this whole bottom is going to come right out. Dutch, you might have to be sweeping up more parts. Don't break all that off and be fixed. It can be fixed. Oh Too late. Oh yeah, I'll I'll save it. I'll save it right there and then we can put it all back together again. Maybe. What's this say? Supersonic probably. Oh, it does. In asbesus tape. It's a little rusty. And if you kind of look like this, does it look like a little bit Yes. of a whammy there. Okay. Well, can we get inside? This is uh going to be a little scary. Any quarters? No, nothing there. All right, what do we got? I don't know why, but I would expect this machine to smell so bad. Okay, there it is. Yep, I smell it now. It is good old barn smell. So, it looks to be intact, though. That transformer No mouse nests. There's the good news. So, Dutch, you want to buy a supersonic project? Uhuh. I don't think I even finished my sentence before you answered. I had my answer ready when you patch. Well, there it is. Supersonic. You'll be happy to get this out of the garage. I'm sure my enthusiasm for Supersonic has waned a little, but it's still awesome. It's pinball. It's supersonic. What I'm gonna do with this, I have no idea. But there you go. That's your crazy garage update. Hope you enjoyed. Dutch wants nothing to do with this supersonic. He won't even get in the frame. But that's okay. You're missing out. It's coming home with me. Your dad's not buying it, much to your dismay. Although, you never know. He may uh hit me up later. But right now, it's coming home with me. All right. But I think uh I'd like to get this over to the garage and have a closer look. Whoa. And uh you know, we pointed out all the nasty. Let's see uh take a closer look and see if there's anything good about this thing. Okay, I'm over here at my garage. I got the machine um offloaded and my guy Andrew is going to come by with the leaf blower to do some spring cleaning over here. And I'm thinking maybe should blow out this cabinet while we got the leaf blower going. So, uh, maybe I'll do that. I'm going to, um, set this down, slide off the playfield glass, and let's look under the hood and see what we got. Okay, with the glass off, we can really get a close look at just how nasty this machine is. So, the good news is that there is a hard top that is available for supersonic. I'm not sure about a back glass. I'd have to check with CPR, but I would hope there is. Uh, all the metals, yeah, they're a little rusty, but they're all restorable. you know, a little bit of sand blasting and painting or powder coating like the receiver bar here. Kevin does those all the time. Uh Kevin even has new apron decals for this game. But it's complete. That's the important part. And it's not going in the trash. That is the other important part. cuz if I didn't buy it, who knows how much effort this guy would have put into uh trying to, you know, sell this thing cuz like I said, communications were very dicey at best. So, definitely missing lots of paint. That's like storage damage, and this is just normal wear and tear type damage like down here. But uh I'm holding gloves in my hand. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I should actually put them on before I fondle too much more of this machine. All right, I got the hood up. It's definitely a lot of rust. Let's see how bad it is. Not much in the way of treasures. Original knocker speaker. That's just an isolation transformer. I can remove that. I may just do that. The verister looks to be not exploded. So, that's good. Uh, under the playfield here, everything actually looks pretty good all things considered. Don't really see any hacks and I don't see too much rust on the underside. Anyway, I think Andrew is here, so maybe we'll blow this uh cabinet out. All right. Are you ready? I was born ready. He's got the earphones, he's got the mask, and he's got the leaf blower. And we're going to try and uh decrustify this to some degree. I'm also wearing a mask, and I'm going to put these on. One second here. Hold that for a second. Okay. Oh, wait. I wasn't recording that whole time. Oh, no. I missed the whole thing. Damn it. Okay, we'll give it one quick once over. I recorded the whole freaking blasting of the machine with air. But I guess I wasn't recording after all. But it came out a little better. It actually worked really well. I can't believe I didn't hit the freaking start button. Anyway, that's what we did. And uh it's much better. All right, it's a little bit better. Can't believe I thought I was recording and I wasn't. But uh now it's time to get rid of this old crusty unnecessary isolation transformer and get rid of that. This old cord hardware and the original cord. Look at this. Perfect condition. So, I'll hit this up with my shop back and be done with that for now. Okay, it's vacuum time. Okay, that looks a little bit better. got rid of the transformer and uh these connectors are actually good shape. They haven't been all hacked up, so it's one good thing. Okay, I'm done with messing with Supersonic. I kind of forgot to record any progress, but it's better, you know. I just gave it initial uh first wiping down and uh that's all I'm going to do for now and figure out what I want to do with this thing.
