## Transcript

The the the shower cap dumb ass the the the the coming to you from beautiful upstate New York this is the slam till podcast the show about all things pinball I'm your host Ron Hallett here with my co-host Bruce Nightingale. Take three of the Canadian Pinball Podcast. Yeah. Yeah, Bruce is on the road and he is... Dropping. The reception is not the greatest and he's dropping. So this is going to be our last attempt and if this doesn't work, no podcast this week. No podcast for you. So we'll see how this goes. This is episode 104, Ant-Man. Not a bad movie. Not a bad movie? Not bad. I liked it. I saw the last 15 minutes of it. And you're going to watch all of it now, right? Uh, not really. The last 15 minutes I saw, I think it was, uh, oh yeah, it was in an airplane and I couldn't hear it. I didn't bother to hook up the headphones and it looked interesting. It looked pretty funny. Okay. No. No. Giant. Mini ants and yeah, no. I'm almost passing beautiful Middletown, New York, the armpit of New York State. Very mean, Bruce, but it's also the home of the world famous Rock Fantasy. Yeah, with phone reception from the 70s. And Rock Fantasy just got a TNA. Yeah. Wow, you just don't seem too excited about TNA, Bruce. I'm not. Until I can actually hear it. I gotta hear it and play it. Yeah, that's right. You haven't played it, so you're completely not psyched for it and already dislike it even though you haven't played it. Yep, I'm a good pinsider. Yeah, that's a pinsidelike attitude right there. I'm very disappointed in you. Thank you. Thank you very much. So this past weekend, we had the Canadian Pinball Summer Open. It was great. I love the Canadian Pinball Summer Open. I meant the Buffalo Pinball Summer Open. Oh. The Winner of the overall which is Adam Becker. Yep. And congratulations to the other winners. We have the winners of Classics 1, which was John Flinton. Yep. Flinton. I hope I'm saying that right. Yep. And then the winner of Classics 2, which is the New York State Champion, Jack Tadman. And interesting trivia for you, Bruce. What's that? Remember, you know Nick Before y'all click hidden describing during sabe- lust ici. A Flash memory extender housesMaddy Neck perdidos y aqui y Potatoen terribly Wow. Impressive. Wow. So five out of the six winners have all been Canadian. Fail. So Buffalo is still losing. Yep. To this day. It just never ends with them. However, the women, now they came through. I believe it was Sunshine and Gretchen were one and two. Yep. One and two. If I'm correct. Yep. Megan from Canada won the 50-50. Okay. Well, there you go. The Canadians were winning hand over fist. Mmm. It was at the Yacht Club. It looked pretty... I was watching the stream. It looked fairly cramped in there. Yeah, it looked pretty tight, but I guess everyone had a good time. The games held up very well. I know Jamie, John Barsh, and Neil worked on the games. Good job guys. And I know if I never see Space Shuttle in a stream again, I won't be disappointed. Why? Because God, I got tired of watching that. I was so tired of watching because the entire game is just spinner. Just watching people with the spinner. It was so boring, to the point where the announcers were like, God, don't pick Space Shuttle. Don't pick Space Shuttle. For a classics two. It was actually I think it was tied between Trent and Jack. And I'm there like it's like 1230 at night because it ran kind of late. And I'm like, well, as long as if it's on Space Shuttle, I'm going to bed. Any other game, I'll stay up and watch it. We're going to Space Shuttle. Oh, well, going to bed. Good night. Did you see my blackjack there? Oh, that was your blackjack? That was my old blackjack. Your old blackjack. Yes, I did. And I miss blackjack. So do I. Blackjack rules. We were mentioned by the famous Jeff Teolis. We were, and Jeff Teolis was wearing a Silver Ball Saloon t-shirt for finals and called it out. from Sacramento Jane But it is on the wrong all these years and I corrected him And meme latest podcast also mentionsôle optimal Whether Hello, say hello guest. Hello, it's the pinball wife. My wife Kathy is stuck in the car with me. Where are you, why are you in a car Bruce? Where are you going? We're headed to New York City. Alright, so you're heading to like Sunshine or one of the many pinball establishments? Nope, no pinball. Nope, no pinball? I'm not even buying pinball. So why are you going from Rochester to New York City? That's like what, five hours? Interugal RazaICEOVER conventional Checkpoint Inter соответction Crit Inter Inter 물어 Inter transfer Inter transfer The Wawa, okay, the Wawa, I gotcha, I gotcha. How's Stomp Preparations doing for you, sir? Stomp Preparation H? Yes, Preparation H. So we got, we did a test run of the heads up rig this weekend. I didn't really announce it, but it just started streaming, me and my dad. Yep. Went very well. My laptop is able to run like five cameras. I did have to lower the bitrate a bit. Oh. Lower the bitrate a bit, a little bit, because I was getting dropped frames due to rendering. In other words, my machine not powerful enough. Well. So I dropped it to about where it usually is when I'm at the silver ball saloon, and A good 45 minutes I think we were on and did not drop a frame. So I think we're good. I think we're good for the setup. How many people do we have? Bruce, where are we at? I think we're at 16 players. So we are almost halfway there. Almost halfway there. Yeah, I know. Four days to go. So you New Robert Englunds cocksuckers and you New York City cocksuckers, get your asses in gear, Every month or these days or in the future the Newspaper takes advantage of the I got I gotta make sure I get that right yes make sure please but yeah I got another game yes you did what is that game Spanish eyes please try to contain your excitement Bruce oh yeah you love the artwork on that artwork ever yeah it's pretty bad artwork but man it plays good and we got to have an EM I've been EM list for too long at least By the way, I heard you said that the pinball game is a single-player game. That it is. That was intentional. That's the brain. Yes that was intentional for my beginner EM that appealed to me a little more Like only one set of score Reels etc etc I learned one thing those games are really heavy Yes, they are a lot of real a lot of relays means a lot of weight. Yeah, there's a lot of weight. I was like, wow, this thing's heavy because it's small, but man, it's heavy. Yep. So I picked it up from Connecticut. This was I think one of the first, the first pick up like buying a new game where I actually had a vehicle, my SUV. Like all the other times I've ever had to do this, I've had to rent something or borrow something. Or borrow. Borrow a vehicle, yeah. So this was the first time my pin vehicle actually came through with an actual pin purchase. Nice. And it is the cheapest game I've ever bought as you would figure, so that's good. That's a very good thing... Streaming. I intend on, we're streaming the heads up challenge. And hopefully the finals. See if I have enough cable, if it reaches. For the heads up final and stars, what we're going to have, we're going to have two stars next to each other, my stars and Bruce's stars. So slam and tilt. Five dollars a join. Yeah, five dollars. Are you going to get them mixed up and bring home the wrong one? No, mine's nicer. Yeah, Bruce's is nicer. It's going to have a better back glass, that's for sure. Definitely. Well, I didn't put that in yet. It's still gonna have a nicer back glass. I know. My back glass sucks. So we were talking about the format. So like five dollars. What is it? Two out of three? Yep. Just like they do it, the previous heads up tournaments have been. The challenges we've come up with, we have, because we ran through some of the challenges during our little test run to see how hard they were, or easy they were. The outlane poster moved in. We got the five stars challenge, basically light the special. You don't have to collect it, meaning that the stars just you have to light the special for getting five stars. Because we found too many instances where you get the five stars, then you just cannot hit the special like over and over and we and we don't we want this to like people to actually be able to get these challenges and not have it where like, no one gets anything. The second one we had was score. Which either was 75k or 100k. First the 75,000. Yeah, I think 75,000 is a good solid score. Then we got triple bonus. Then the 7,000 target challenge. Yep. Hit the two outer targets. Then get the center target. Yep. And we had a fifth one. What was the fifth one? Or did we have a fifth one? I thought we did. We talked about it. Yeah, we talked about it before one of the many times you disconnected. Yeah. Well, maybe we'll take suggestions from the players because I'm sure they'll come up with something. So that's going to be the challenges for stars. It's going to be awesome. We love stars. I know another one we can do. Light the left spinner both lit. You got to get the left spinner lit both lights. Oh, yeah, okay. I think Zach said that one too. Yep. on the ground good luck with that that's easy that's easy sure it is do you know how to do it? you gotta hit the center target no? the center drop in both banks nope yes noooope yes the left, the left spinner yes the left spinner okay knowledge me, knowledge me what, what am I supposed to do? you have to take down two drop targets on each side I thought it was the center target no You have to take down the two drop targets. If you take down two drop targets on either side, one light will light up. If you take two drop targets down on both sides, both lights will light up. No, you're wrong. You're wrong. Think about that. If you do the two targets on the outside, that's the 7,000 challenge. No, no, no. You can do any of the two. You can do the two outers. You can do the left and right. You can do left and middle or right and middle. Yes! I don't think so. I don't think so. I'm going to have to go downstairs after we're done and check that. I thought it was the two. I thought it was the center. The center one you had to have down. Nope. Okay. I'm probably wrong again. I know you are. So come on at the stomp. We got another New York person, Central New York person come out. We're going to have 25 plus games. Yes. All eras. We have early solid states. We have Bally Williams. We have Newsterns. We have Jersey Jack. We have modified software up the wazoo, which I got to make something up for that. Yep. So people know what the hell is different. What time do the doors open, Ron? 12. 12. The doors are opening at 12 o'clock. Doors are opening at 12 o'clock. And right around Ron's place, there's a Dunkin Donuts, there's a diner, and there's a couple other eating establishments close by. The release meteorology software athoplane.com here are the Chasing абick.us4 Atinfectan Yaddy Paylee, Finan substance Pluzzne Brick Slick, Atizophren Ballasdom, However strictly Sun Soulsести blazuks news, Deadpool Deadpool video and we got to see world famous Tim Sexton the new face of Stern yes obviously playing all the rules introduced the team went over all the rules basically he did all the same stuff he used to do on his own stream except now he's getting paid for it so that's a good thing that's a very good thing doing it for Stern so what did you think of Deadpool I assume you've seen at least some of the stream I I saw a lot of it actually. I liked it. The only thing I thought was a little hard on the challenges for the battle modes like battling juggernaut and you got to have a multiball started with it or you're going to be failing. I noticed there was a lot of multiball. Yeah. A lot of multiball. The chimitangas are funny. I need to find out what the third game is. Because if you look in the arcade, you see the sea witch. Yes. And when you pan to the left, you see a flight 2000. Yes. And then there's a dude playing another game. That's Colossus. That was Colossus? Okay. And that's Quicksilver. How do you know it's Quicksilver? I couldn't even see it. Because when he moves his head once in a while, you see a green back glass. Yeah, it's like pink. Okay, it's pink and green with the floating penises. You got it. The floating penises are on the back glass. So wait a minute, if it's a floating penis and it's green, does that mean it's the Hulk? Yes. Okay, I gotta get this. I wanna get my superheroes right. Yes, you do. So you think it's a Quicksilver. I never saw his head move enough where I could actually see it. Okay. Maybe we should ask Tim himself. Tim, we know you listen. Is it Quicksilver? Or is it like Secret and you can't tell us? Maybe it's in the wizard mode. Wouldn't it be cool like if you have like hidden pinball modes in there? Like the game becomes Quicksilver? Yeah, or you play, uh, yeah. If you get the character like Colossus, you can go over there and play Quicksilver. Or you can play Flight 2000. Or you can play Sea Witch. When a visual pinball version of it comes up on the LCD display? That would be cool. Yep. I guess that would be a better video mode than usual. That would be. That would be an excellent video mode. So what do you think of that one shot there? The right in orbit up the ramp there. That looked pretty cool. Everyone was hitting it and solidly and it was working. The whole thing was working. Yeah. Yeah. It was working. It wasn't rattlinging out or anything like that. That was nice to see. Yep. I like to see the, it was fast because people who didn't know how to play drained very quick. The music was good. Yep. The set callouts Wolverine stinks but other ones are pretty good I enjoyed it I now need to play it He needs to play it He needs to play it I need to play it I have more excitement for that game than I do for TNA Damn. I'm like a stern boy. I'm stern boy now. Well, yeah, you're part of the stern army. Yes, I am. Well, Middletown where you were driving through in another couple of weeks, they're going to have a Deadpool at Rock Fantasy. That they will. You'll get to probably play it before I will unless maybe Pocketeer will get it or maybe somebody else will, who knows. I know one of my customers that comes into the bar is getting one. So, it will be local in Racha. I actually know two customers that are getting it. So, one's getting an LE and one's getting a pro. So that's Deadpool. Yes. What did you think of it? I like the music. Artwork is killer. It is. The LCD stuff was funny.". Ben Looked good to me. Yeah. I think it'll be another winner. I can't see this thing not selling. It just looks too good. It looks too good. I agree. It looks too good. It looks too good to not sell. And it is a good thing that they got the comic book because they definitely had a lot of leeway. They were able to do a ton of stuff on this game. Yeah. It shows, too. It really does show. And it does show. So I'm at thisweekinpinball.com because this is a piece of news we're doing right here. Mm-hmm. And hi Jeff. Hi Jeff. So Deadpool was the first thing. See there was um, Zombie Yeti was interviewed on This Week in Pinball. This Week in Pinball's podcast. That's at thisweekinpinball.com. Okay, Medieval Madness remake, new display option. What's that? Bigger display, let's see. It was uh, Medieval Madness, oh larger display. Looks like the bigger display is similar to the extra large display that was included with Attack for Mars remake. Okay, yeah, so it's got a different speaker panel with the large DMD or whatever LCD display. Is it how much money? It doesn't say. It looks like they're testing it. It was in Logan's Arcade in Chicago. Okay. So people who own Medieval Madness will probably be able to purchase and upgrade their display. Ooh. Pirates of the Caribbean is now shipping. Yes, Jack did a cartwheel. Yeah, he did a cartwheel. Yeah, kind of. It was at the Canadian Pinball Summer Open. Yes, it was. But it was like, it was the same proto with the three spinning discs there. It wasn't any of the new ones. Yeah. So I guess the new ones are actually coming out. Yep. There's one in West Virginia at Starport, if I remember correctly or something like that. There's a couple that are out there. I would look forward to playing that. I want to see an upper playfield that actually moves back and forth correctly. I saw you again. You still don't think that's going to work, do you? Nope. I don't. Alright. I'm given the benefit of the doubt. I want to play that sucker. I want to play a lot of it. But I don't know where that would be around in my area. Because I know like Rock Fantasy will never get that. I mean, there's probably no commercial location. Maybe Pocketeer might get it? Or maybe Sanctum. Maybe Sanctum. Maybe Sanctum? I'll have to be on the lookout. There's not that many in this area, the Jersey Jack games. I mean, they have, there is a dialed in at Sanctum. Yep. But that's probably the closest I can think of. Yep. Or Pocketeer. It's the only two. Is there a new Guns N' Roses machine in the works? Oh, God. Well, come on. I like Guns N' Roses. Well, at least the first game. Let's get some new ideas. All right. So he's, Bruce ain't feeling that. Uh, let's see, I think that was the news. Yeah, that was the news pretty much. It was mostly Deadpool. It was a Deadpool week, baby. Yes it was. Boom! Oh god, it's gonna be just boom, boom, boom. Plus there's coming up Steven Bowden's final tournament, the going away tournament that they just announced today. Out in New York City. Is it a tournament or were they just going... Yeah, I think it's a tournament slash hangout. Unfortunately it's on a Thursday, which I could never make. but hey, hey, Steve, if you listen to this I don't know exactly when you're leaving but it you know it's only two days afterwards stop just saying you're known you want some final tournament experience in the Northeast it's right here man you could pay at the door I'll even buy your entry Steve Bruce will buy your entry yep okay so I got one who did I buy that or would I not I can't buy that. Wait, wait, wait, wait. How are you doing this? You're driving. I'm psychic friends and family. Psychic friends and family. Your hands free. You promise. I am hands free. Miss Cleo is going to guide me. Okay. 202, 405, 394, 724. Seriously, how are you doing that? Are you sure you're driving hands free? Clio is guiding me. Yaman. Okay, Miss Clio. It's actually DeAnne Warwick. Even though she's not dead yet, she's guiding me. Ah, split second. Yes. Hurry. Pinball machine. Hurry. Yes. Hurry. Hurry. Hurry. Hurry. It's in Stillwater, Minnesota by Rockola22, the seller. He sold over 1,511 items with 100% positive feedback. And the split second is sitting right next to a black hole. Oh God. It has four flippers, 11 drop targets along with many other stand up and roll over targets. It has a horseshoe lane and blah blah blah whatever. I haven't sold the new lock. I do not have one for the backbox so I removed the tumblers and now almost any key or flat screwdriver will open it. It is currently has 62 watchers. It is currently at $355. As Dennis from the EclecticGamers podcast said, I think you and me have single-handedly raised all the values of the Stern electronic pinball machines. Sorry. Sorry. And we did it after we had a bunch of them too. So we're real dicks like that. Exactly. I'm looking at these pictures. We got the glass in. Okay, the back glass is nice. It is. Nice blurry pictures. Really blurry. And then a perfectly clear picture of the inside the backbox. Okay. But there's more keep on going. Another blurry picture of the playfield but it looks good. Upper playfield looks good man this thing looks really good. I know. I mean the game sucks but man if you want a if you want a good example of split second. This is a good one. We got the game for you right here. I know. Would you or would you not buy that? I would buy this. How much would you buy? How much would you go up to? I can barely see her anymore. So, I got a stumper for you. Okay. Our new segment where I try to stump Bruce or he tries to stump me with some, usually like a tech thing. It's not standard trivia. This is more like, I guess you would say, tech trivia. Yep. And someone could correct me on this one, but I researched some and I can't find any others. No fear You know the game No Fear the Williams classic the Steve Ritchie awesome game that is no fear As Lyman Sheets helped on He did You can hear that in episode 100 of the Slamto Podcast Yes he helped on The cabinet of no fear is unique They tried something with it that they did not try again And the clue is if you look at the sides of a no fear cabinet there is something missing Friday, August 16, 2011 flight to Moody browsing.com awareness hastily This Week in Pinball, Franchi), Proudly, John Papadiuk, Black Water, Kaneda's Pinball Podcast, Twippies Awards, transliteelectronic Proudly, John Popadiuk, Pinballlooked I see why they used it for one. It is hard to pull the playfield out. It's hard to push it back in. Yep. I thought they did it on jackpot too, but I saw pictures of jackpot and it had the bolts on the side. So I looked all around the games of before and after no fear and they do not have it. So I think no fear is the only one. So someone could correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's the only one like that. So check that out when you see a no fear. Notice how there's no bolts on the side of the cabinet. Okay, I got a stumper for you. Oh, you got a stumper for me. All right. Name the talking Stern electronic games. Without going to IPDB, of course. Of course. Flight 2000. Yes. Well, Split Second. Yeah. Oh, Lightningening. Yep. Oh,Catacomb. Yep. Or any more? Name just one more. Oh, yeah. The one after Flight 2000. It talks. This week's topic is, um, ugh, don't tell me, don't tell me, freefall. Yep. I think that's it. I think there's five. Yeah, supposedly, prototype Iron Maidens might have talked. Yeah, I think they did, but they took it away. Oh, wait a minute, nope, you forgot one. Which one? Orbiter One. Orbiter One talks? Yeah. Shoot pinball. Oh, yeah, right. It tells you to shoot pinball. Because it's got the stupid, it's got the The shooter rod is so low it has to have a light there blinking at you and the guy saying shoot pinball. That's right. So you know to shoot pinball. And it has like if you get the high score it does the whole wow wow wow wow wow you are a great player. Whatever the hell it says. In that classic stern voice. I wonder did Q talk? Probably not. If Q talked it would probably say I am a shitty game. Do not play me. I suck. They're not just talking about your gameplay. We know that. Oh. Oh, that would be funny if the game said you sucked in that voice. Yeah. You are a terrible player. You suck. Oh man, I almost want to see someone modify it now to get it to say that. That would be so awesome. And that's that stern voice. Instead of wow wow it says suck suck suck suck suck suck suck. So how about the mail ball bag? We had a lot of people comment about they think New Zealand is its own continent. Well that was in the mailball bag. That was in Facebook. But unfortunately everyone there's only seven continents and New Zealand is not by itself. That's a subcontinent they call. It's a subcontinent. Yes. Stumper, what are the seven continents Bruce? Oh God. North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Quid pro quo,东 perdido. Beside gim Machi. pharmaceutical company Herz foremind Gain, Stefan. The See you on Friday. But he's saying my stargazer has plastic. In other words a plastic rod and ring assembly. Pop up a rod and ring assembly. So mine does not. Mine's metal. Yep, and mine's metal too. Yours is metal too. Yep. You know what this requires? This requires me going to the flyer. Alright, I have. The pinball flyer site. And I recommend this site. www.flyers.cdyn.com The picture might not be clear enough, but let's see. Yup, I cannot see them in the picture because the angle they take it from, you cannot see the ring. Fail. So we figured out nothing. That was great. Excellent. Keep up the good work. We suck again. Excellent. Big Game did not come with the plastic rod and ring assembly, but it's the game that transitions from old style flipper mech to new. Ah, really? The after which i think is not a Which was after that the white go game i think so yes after is it yes after and gamma tron have them Scott says of course anyone can put them in the older games all my early stern games have them So this extremely rare part scott is stolen Has it less of them in the world so he can put him in his earlier games there you go parts hog Actually i think i gave him one of mine Hasٓa depending on the type of Knapp, I do have a pinball here. 3rd row. Yeah, baby. Episode 104, Antman. Thanks to all the other podcasts out there. Fun with Bonus, hi, Zach. Hi, Jeff Teolis and Riptide Pinball Podcast and everyone. Yep.
