3. Long time no see. It's been a very long time. Hello, I'm MPT3K. Let's try that again. I am MPT3K. The channel is MPT3K. Pinball is MPT3K. And what I'm trying to do today is show you guys how amazing virtual reality pinball is and how far it's come. So I've been panning around with this cabinet I built a long time ago and I've been having a ball with it playing different pinball games and stuff. Got the haptic feedback, got the lights, got the tilt bob, got the shaker motor, got the clicky clackies, got all the fun stuff. But it's still 2D, it's still pancake as we call it in virtual reality world. It's still pancake because it's just a flat screen that you're playing. So you really can't look at your shots and angle your shots with your eyes. You kind of just have to know where the shot is on the flipper and go for it. Well, that has changed because a really talented guy who started this project called VRVP has ported over the Visual Pinball code to utilize your virtual reality HMD. Yes, to utilize your virtual reality HMD, so in the future I guess every table that is available in Visual Pinball will be able to be played in virtual reality. I am going to try as best I can to show you, but trust me, there's—it will not blow your mind this way through Twitch. It will blow your mind if you were here and you were looking through the HMD. So I've got my trusty Vive here, my HTC Vive, and I'm going to try and show you as best I can. I have completely destroyed my V-Pin, my pinball cabinet, and all kinds of stuff. I have all kinds of weird cameras and stuff. There's no easy way to show this, but here, let's take a look at what I have done. And that is this shot here. So we are playing Big Bang Bar in virtual reality. Check this out. So here's what I have happening. And forgive me if it does that little freezing also. It'll, for some reason, it'll freeze my capture. I need to come up with a better system to do this. My laptop is capturing things from my desktop and this is the view from the HTC Vive. Have you seen my battery? Have I seen your battery? No, I haven't. I have not. I'm sorry, my wife's looking for her battery. Yeah, so this is Big Bang Bar and this is pretty much the only way I want to play Big Bang Bar now is in virtual reality because I can look. If you look, I'm gonna zoom in, so this table is rendered in Visual Pinball. What up, Dirty Toes. I'm showing off. I'm trying to show as best I can: virtual reality Visual Pinball. This table was rendered strictly in Visual Pinball on the PC. But this genius of a person converted things over to OpenGL so when it renders, it doesn't render on Visual Pinball. It renders on screen. It renders in your HMD. Look at that. Everything is a 3D object. I hear an echo for myself. Oh, I will love to play a game. I wish there was a way, Dirty Toes. I wish there was a better way for me to show you this. This is mind-blowing. This will blow your mind. Look at this. So if I step back, the table now—I have it mapped directly to my machine—so when I touch the flippers on the virtual table, it feels like it's right here because my machine is right here. Bottom left, camera's down. Oh, that camera. Oh, I could fix that camera. That's a little weird, right? I can fix that camera easy. That is usually my pinball camera and I'm going to fix it right now. Okay, all right, yep, we are back. I am pushing my machines so hard to do this. It's like I'm pushing them to the limit. So whenever I click back here, let me start a game. There's a ball, and if I can sit at this angle and can see the ball, now what's crazy is it's cranked to 11. Oh, shoot, sorry, it's too loud. Oh, oh, wait, you can't even hear it? Can you hear it now? You're waiting for something to happen, or what? Oh, the computer is cranked to 11. Yeah, and actually, you just reminded me to turn the audio on for the pinball machine, so I'm gonna put this on and look like an idiot, but I'm gonna play now. I'm used to—here's what's cool about this—I'm used to just playing in 2D, flat pancake, and being happy. But I noticed my game has improved by playing in virtual reality for two reasons. Number one, because I can actually look at the shots I'm gonna take. Like for real. Like you can really—I'm gonna put this on and talk. I'm not gonna be able to see you for a second and I don't know what this looks like to you. How crazy cool is that? No, no, when you put that on the only thing that changes is that it's an idiot wearing VR. The VR does not make it. I love you. I love you, dude. All right. I can play like this if I want. Can you see the dancer girl? All right, I'm going to launch. Let me try something. Let me play something. Forgive me if it. I try not to move my head so much. I can hit that ramp now because I can see. Oh! I lost it. There it is. Ah, that was a good shot. Guys, this is amazing. Hit that ramp. Ramp targets qualified tube dancer. There's the tube dancer. Move your head, I want to see the whole experience. Joe Menar, what app is running the table and VR? Future Pinball? Visual Pinball? Something else? So this is Visual Pinball. This is a port of Visual Pinball called VRVP. It's in SourceForge. It's in beta right now. Oh, maybe it's alpha. The guy who's working on it has been working on it for quite a while. So this is an actual Visual Pinball table. I have not altered it in any way, shape, or form at all. Virtual reality Visual Pinball. I have not altered the table at all in any way, shape, or form, and I am able to play it in VR. And here's the other thing: what's amazing to me is that there's almost zero flipper lag and I think I know why. Because in VR you can't have lag, otherwise you get sick. So they managed to get the display drivers and all that—you know, the chain between when you do something and when it shows up on the screen is less than 20 milliseconds, which is a great thing for Virtual Pinball because I don't notice any flipper lag anymore. It's like gone. When I'm playing on my pancake screen, it's there. Very cool. Then with my cab, I don't know if I could run VR, but it would be great. I think it really just depends on your graphics card. That's all. This is running a GTX 980. Not a Ti, a GTX 980. Notice how the room is black. It's just a dark room. Like I said, this is just Virtual Pinball. Visual Pinball. An author created this table, but everything is in 3D. So I'm running a GTX 980 and it runs fine for most tables. There obviously needs to be some more optimization in the VRVP, and I could obviously get faster and better with a faster graphics card. Can't wait to see the Harry Potter. Dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude. That's what I'm waiting for. I am playing the shit out of this when it's Harry Potter. When Harry Potter's ready, it's going in here and I'm playing it on this and I can't wait to see that Harry Potter table. I'm not going to play too much like this, but I can show you another table. I'm going to try to show you another table. Another table. All right, and let's—I have a couple tables. Unfortunately, the tables are all dark. So this, like I said, VRVP, it's still a work in progress. Joman, Joman, Jo, sorry. Jodinar? Is that right? Jodinar? It really depends on the graphics card you have in your machine and whether, obviously, you have either an Oculus Rift or an HTC Vive. I just took a chance and I installed SteamVR on this machine and it worked. And so I'm able to do this. Let me bring up—I think it was, what was the other table that I had? I'll show you guys one more table. File open. What was I playing with? Whitewater. Oh, no, Congo. I think it was Congo. Let's do Whitewater. Whitewater or Congo. Which one do you guys want to see? And I'm also working on how to show this more. I'm also working on both. All right, we'll start with Whitewater. I'm working on how to do a stream with this setup so it's not a small screen up in the corner that you can't see too much of. I want to—I'm probably gonna change my screen layout so that it's much bigger and it shows a lot of the table. Let's see if Whitewater works. I mean, it should work. I tried it before I started the stream. So I'm playing a lot better too. Like, my scores have gone up just because I can look around. I can now look around. I can see. See stuff. When you do that, maybe get a second-person cam so they can read off the comments. Who's—yeah, maybe get a second person so they can read off the comments. Whoever's playing? Yeah, that could be my son or something like that. I'm really trying to. I'm trying to figure out how to do this. I have plenty of time to figure it out because this program is not done. It's still in beta. So here's Whitewater. It's amazing. It's not showing me my score, but that's okay. You can see my score. So I can actually see. There's the Lost Mine. There's my river. This is my windlet. My spotted letters. One thing about the Visual Pinball version of this, the 2D pancake version, I can't tell what these boulder awards are because some of the boulders are in the way. But now I can—whoops—if I don't obscure my camera, I can just see in there, you know. And look at that guy, he looks great. Let's plunge the ball. Come on, come on. There we go. See if we can get it going. Oh, it's so cool to be able to do that. Did you guys see that drop catch? Holy smokes. All right, pretty crazy, huh? This is all true. You can see I'm not making this up. No sound. That's weird. Huh. I'm going to try one more table. Let's try one more table then. Let's do... Congo. I was playing Twilight Zone last night with this. It's so cool. There's a lot that he has to work on for this code to work, for everything to be perfect. Oh, Warlock. I didn't see you. Sorry, Warlock. I'm such a bad person. How many times you played this, the real table? He wants to midnight again? I missed you, Warlock. Missed you, man. I've been away for a little while. Let's see. Can you hear it? No. Oh, that's a drag. While it's playing, I think it's super low. I really need to set up a virtual table like what you have. Hippos! This is crazy. This is... I think the volume is too low. Let me see if I can increase the volume. For that, I need one of these. I need one of these Vibe wands. Oh, that's cool. I never. What? The. Huh. I just saw a feature I never saw before. That uh, that circle that you see is my um, is my chaperone boundary. All right, let me try and do. I'll do one ball. You can see Kongo down there. Oh, look at the ball. It's white! Why is the ball white? Yeah, there's another, there's another uh, issue with the beta. Well, at least you can see the ball. It's like POWER BALL! I'm using the power ball on Kongo. How about that? That's pretty cool. Up there. All right. I wish I could get it down to the gorilla so you guys can see that. Let's go there. Yeah, let's go there. Yes, there diamonds. Dude, that was the best I ever did. There's Kongo down there again. Hit that skill shot from here. Oops. No. Oh, shoot. That was great. And what's cool about this, guys, is that I can nudge. See that? I can feel the flippers. The flippers are clicking and clacking. I'm getting full feedback. After you start playing you forget. You literally forget you're not playing a real machine. You're playing a real machine in some weird world. I gotta hit the map now. Map is lit. Kickback! Kickback combo! Oh, which multiball is this? Wow. Nice. Oh, look! Get the combo. I got the ball trapped! Ah, that's the best situation you want. Actually, I don't think you can do this in a tournament. I don't—you can't do that in a tournament, right, guys? That's illegal. Isn't that illegal in a tournament? Oh, that is awesome. Playing a real machine in the cold, dark vacuum of space. So what does your wife say? So what time does your wife leave after she finds out you bought this? I've had this Vive since it came out. I had the agency Vive since it came out. And you know what? It sat in the case forever. I played it. I played it for a while and then, you know, this here—this is a pain in the ass, honestly, and finding the right place, the right room, that set the lighthouses up and all this other junk—it's just a pain in the butt. Now I will show you something that's not a pain in the butt. Where is it? That's this guy right here. That's good. Yeah, she is a keeper. Trust me, she's a keeper. That's this guy right here. This is an Oculus Quest. If you want to get into VR, I know this is not a VR channel, but I'm doing VR pinball just for a minute. You want to get into VR, guys? $399, get the 64 gig version, you're set. This is an amazing HMD. No computer needed, no nothing. All you need is a phone to set up your account and then this is free to go. This is an amazing thing because it's powered by a PC, obviously, it's going to have better, you know, visuals and uh, I can do stuff like this with it, but I'm not getting any kick. This is not sponsored by Oculus at all. This is a game-changing device right here. Hands down. But I just wanted to do this briefly. All right, Brennan. Take it easy, bro. Thanks for showing up. I just wanted to do this briefly just to show the work that's been done so far in VRVP and how amazing it is. Every single table that—let me see if I can get Twilight Zone to work. Let's take a look at Twilight Zone real quick and that'll be it. Most of the tables that I tried are fully playable just like they are in Visual Pinball. Amazing. So much fun. There are still issues with like the ambient colors in the room and the ball being the same color. The ball is like black for some reason. It's hard to see the ball. Well, hello, fine sir. Who's that? Hope for slaps one. Hello. Hello to you also. Here we go. This is Twilight Zone. How's that look? Yep. Oops. See, if I block the lighthouses, they're not in the best place. I just started playing with this, so they're not in the best place. And like I said, the table's very dark. I'm going to try and play. I'll play one ball. This looks amazing in here. Holy smokes. Always full plunge in Twilight Zone. There's no point in doing that skill shot. Oh. Okay. I'll do one more ball. How about that? Full plunge. Oh, come on. Hit that ramp. For goodness sake. I would never play real pinball like this, like looking at the table like so... like a weirdo. Ah. Got it. Ah, give me that piano. And also, it might be stuttering in your view, but it's smooth as silk here. There's a piano. Skill. Oops. I just bumped the... I bumped something. I bumped my microphone. Who's saying stuff? Man, I get vertigo from this. No, it's actually... I guess you would, maybe. What am I doing to you guys? Oh yeah, I'm doing this kind of thing. Uh, one play 50 cents. Where? Where's our 50 cent Twilight Zone? Show me. Ooh, light extra ball. Let's find Tina. Let's find Talking Tina. I was able to hit that camera award because I could look down and see where the ball was coming. Does that collect bonus? That's collect bonus. Got it. Here's your extra ball. Touching the door. Drain, drain. Everybody out of the pool. Oh, well. I gotta restart. Okay, here we go, here we go, here we go. Trap up. Ah! I had my chance. I blew it. Gosh darn it! All right. I think that's gonna do it. I'm gonna let it drain. Doot! Can we see down the drain? Yeah, we can. So what's crazy is that I'm hovering the HMD over my actual V-Pin and it's showing me a V-Pin. It's showing me a pinball machine. All right, so guys, I think that's it for now. It's very difficult to show this. I'll figure out a way, a better way to show it so that it's bigger and then maybe when the alpha of this turns into a beta there'll be more stuff to see. But anyway, cool, thanks for watching and I'll see you next time.
