This isn't just one that's here. This is his physical, actual game that he owns. Number 001. Is there a 000? 001. Uno, as in the first one. Because if it was all zeros, that means it doesn't exist. But, yeah, we're going to jam out on this. I have not a lot of time on this game, so thankfully we've got some programmers, some designers here. Keith is also here, the programmer on this game, who's hopefully going to show me how to blow the crap out of this table. Joe Katz is here, too. Joe, remind me what you do here, Joe. This is going to be a blast. I'm going to switch the camera over, and I think we're going to go over some brief rules on the play field. And then we're going to dive deeper into what's going on once we start playing. We'll be talking tactics, we'll be talking gameplay styles as we're going. Just a brief overview before we get started so people can follow along. Baller. Alright, let me switch it over. Number three. I still have yet to play this? Yeah. Well, go find one and play it. Amen. Guys, God. Let's go play the damn game. All right. How does that look? Now, it's hard to balance this out, so this is going to be a little blown out, unfortunately. But there is a screen here. Yep. Mini screen tells you some rules as you're playing, what your current Pirate Lane awards are, as well as some other little helpful tidbits, such as Jack's compass. Beautiful. Always points out the most desirable shot in the game. if you ever stuck, wondering what you should shoot. This compass is constantly freewheeling and pointing at the best shot. Oh, it literally is an arrow that is going to be pointing at that ram. In real time, the most valuable thing in the game, it is shooting it. Heck yeah. That's amazing. Take into account expected values if it's like a multiball or something. Oh, sure. Right. Okay. Great. If statistically you've played multiball three and it's been worth more points than multiball one and you've got both multiballs at the same time, it's going to point at multiball three because it knows that's where more points are at. Baller. Mini TV looks good now. It's going to go in and out. If it's like a full screen like this, it's going to blow out a little bit, but let me get Eric on camera here a little bit more. You look great. All right. Wonderful. So in the Pirates of the Caribbean universe, there are five movies, and we tried to incorporate each of those movies equally into the game. So with that, there are five skull shots in the game. They are color-coordinated to match their corresponding movies. Oh, you can see they're the square inserts here. Square inserts. They have skull and crossbones on them. Yep, skull and crossbones. And, fun fact, I didn't know this before I started designing the game, each movie has its own unique skull design. I'm now seeing that on the play field. So, movie one has the skull with swords, movie two has the skull with torches, movie three has the skull with crossbones with Jack's beads. Little hair beads. Movie four has a silver skull with swords, and movie five has a combination of gold and like... Oh, it's like some evil, like... Enameled sort of skull. Tattooed skull. Right, and then the franchise logo is a combination of all of the skulls. Oh, wonderful. Which is somewhere in the game here. I think I have it on screen here. Maybe not this edition. Maybe not this edition. Yeah, it's in the limited edition. The concept of the game is you're playing through the different chapters of the five movies. So you shoot a movie shot, a skull shot. It qualifies a chapter from that movie in the chapter start area. Which is a cast of area back in the... Yep, so you shoot it into there when you have some chapters qualified. a disappearing post comes up, locks the ball in there, there's a magnet underneath, whips it around. Whichever movies you have qualified are potential that could be started. The more movies you have qualified, the higher your multiplier for any chapter scoring available. If you only have one movie in there, it's only worth 1x. If you have two movies in there, it's worth 1.5. Three movies qualified, it's worth 2x. Oh, for all the scoring for that chapter. Right, for all the scoring for that chapter. Oh, damn, okay. Yeah, I definitely didn't know that. If you have all five movies qualified, you can get 3x chapter scoring for that chapter. But you don't know which one you're starting. But you don't know which one you're starting. So it's a risk-reward. As you're going through the game, you're going to learn that as you're trying to qualify wizard modes, or to qualify wizard mode, you have to play that movie's five chapters and that movie's multiball in order to qualify that movie's wizard mode. So there's a risk-reward in going in, just playing random chapters. You're getting some from movie one, you're getting some from movie three. You're not necessarily making beeline progress toward movie three's wizard mode because you're randomly starting different chapters. So that is the chapters strategy. There are five unique multi-balls in the game, one pertaining to each movie, that are qualified in new and unique ways. Movie one is qualified via the black pearl up here. Qualifying, you're honing in on a ship, you're loading your cannons, you're getting your cannonball in the cannon, and you're firing at the enemy. That's awesome. Getting it through the sweet spot on the side of the ship. Oh, yeah, there is a hole in there. There's a hole in there. You can shoot too high, too low, or you can shoot right in. And this upper play field that he's talking about, it rocks back and forth as the game's going. It totally rocks. It rocks so hard. Movie two is Dead Man's Chest. It's qualified by shooting the load chest targets. Shoot load and then chest. Oh, the two touch targets and then up the middle. Do that three times, you start Dead Man's Chest. Feels very Whitewater-ish, like smack those. I have a Whitewater at home. Well, there you go. Maybe you've inspired some spots in this game here. At World's End Multiball is the third movie. It is qualified by getting the nine pieces of eight. Okay. So if you're familiar with the movie, the pirate lords all had little trinkets and doodads in their pockets, like a jade knot, a little cup. Oh, I didn't see those. A little bottle top, Jack's beads, a playing card. There's an eyeball right there. Right, there's an eyeball there. There's something else over here. Oh, it's like a mug. A tobacco cutter. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So you shoot all nine of the main big shots on the play field, which are these giant arrows. shoot all those. They qualify movie three to start on the Whirlpool ramp over here. Movie four is On Stranger Tides. That is qualified by getting to the Fountain of Youth, which is the inner loop. You make this inner loop, you can live forever. We're using the super flipper here. So you make five non-consecutive shots to the Fountain of Youth and you can qualify the Fountain of Youth multiple. On Stranger Tides multiple. Finally Dead Men Tell No Tales is the fifth movie. That is qualified by shooting into the devil's triangle and not basically ripping the spinner. Okay. A couple good times will qualify that, and then you shoot it into the devil's triangle and the ball won't come back. Oh, what? And you'll start your multiball. Because where did it go? Right. There is a sixth multiball in the game, which is Tortuga multiball, and that is qualified by collecting gold pieces. Gold pieces are something you earn in the game in a couple different ways. Okay. There are four stand-up targets over here. G-O-L-D on the left side. Oh, sure. All lined up there. Got it. You can nail those by hitting from your upper flipper here. If you hit it just straight up, you'll get a couple gold pieces that will splash onto the screen. You have to hit your action button one time for every gold piece that's on the screen. Okay, so hitting it once won't collect at all. You've got to smash it. There's like five up there. You can hit it five times. Okay, great. Unless you're a specific character. There is one specific character, Cutler Beckett, that you can choose at the beginning of the game, who you hit the gold button once and he collects every gold piece that's on the screen. Greedy son of a bitch. Yes. However, there is strategy in not necessarily hitting the gold targets right away. If you can hit combo shots in the loop and then hit the gold targets, instead of just single gold coins, it'll come up with gold nuggets. Oh, it's building up the value of those. Or gold bars, which are worth 5 or 10. Or gold chalices or gold chests, which are worth 50 gold at a time. You can hit 10 loots in a row and hit those gold targets and you're blowing it up. Right, you've got like 500 gold on the screen. At which point it's like 10 gold chests. And then you need your friend to come in and start smacking that spoon until you play it. I like that. There are, every multiball is stackable with any other multiball. Oh, great. So you could have all of them going at once. You can have all sticks going at once, which shows something very fun on the screen up here. Oh, there's an incentive to do it. There are Easter eggs in there if you can get all sticks going at once. I like it. Including some hidden super jackpots in there for having six multiballs running at the same time. Beautiful. Very fun. Another aspect of the game is the spinning map here. There are three targets underneath the black pearl, which from a top-down camera is kind of hard to see. Oh, MAP under there? Yeah, MAP under there. If you hit those three, you can shoot it into the captain's quarters, which is the hole right next to the map target, and those will allow you to get a map random award. And in multiplayer, it becomes really fun because you can start to plunder. So I played this game in a tournament once, and I plundered somebody, and they almost threw something at my head. because I took so much gold away from them. I've always said I want this to be the first game where someone gets shivved. Yeah, right. How'd you steal my stuff? Yes. Yeah, okay, great. So with plundering, you can steal pretty much anything from another player. You can steal points, which is okay. Points, you know, whatever. Sure. You can also steal, let's see, a ball. Ooh, wait, what? Right, if you're on ball two. Yo, what? You can steal their ball two. That's fucked up. Yeah, you can steal ball three from them, and their game is done. That is amazing. You can steal their soul. You can become their captain. Oh, okay. You steal their captain. So at the beginning of the game, everyone gets to choose a specific captain which has specific powers. Sure. But you can't choose, like, I can't be the same person that you are. Correct. Okay. Correct. So if you're in a tournament setting and you're player one, you get to choose from all 22 characters. Oh, okay. And that's your strategy. You know exactly which character you want to play. If you're player four, someone else has already chosen three other characters. Maybe they're the ones that you know best. You have to have at least four strategy plans in this game. Now, that's interesting. In a tournament perspective, if you're like high seed, you want to go last. But in a game like this, you want to be able to choose the person you want to play. So going first, internet. Yo, let's go. Absolutely. Let's see. So there are three skill shots in the game. The first one is a short plunge into the pop-umpers, which raises your pop-umper mystery award by one stage. Beautiful. The Pop Bumper Mystery Award is normally built by hitting each of the Pop Bumpers one time. There are ten total levels to it, so you have to hit each of these ten times. Ten times, okay. The award will be the lowest current Pop Bumper level that you have. So if you hit these ones nine times and only hit this one once, your Mystery Award will only be level one. I was just about to ask that. Perfect. Okay, cool. But skill shotting into the Pop Bumpers will raise every one of them by one level. Beautiful. Cool. And then there's other little targets in here. Like, if you can shoot this rubber over here without hitting a pop bumper, the extra ball shot. Oh, God. Yeah. Oh, yeah. How about it? Hey, you got, like, a rollover in there, a little swing shot. Rollover will raise the lowest pop bumper by one. Okay. Hitting the sling over there will raise every level by one if you hit a clean shot into it. Without hitting a pop bumper. Got it. It's also the only way to collect an extra ball. If you light extra ball, you have to hit a clean shot into that rubber without touching a pop bumper. It is a fun shot, which Josh Sharpe did the very first time he tried playing it. What a jerk, Josh. Seriously. Come on, dude. Second skill shot is a medium plunge. There is a vertical up kicker right behind the black pearl. So if you can short plunge into the black pearl here, it'll kick the ball up onto the black pearl and advance your Curse of the Black Pearl multiball by one stage. If you do that a couple times, you can pretty much light your Curse of the Black Pearl multiball right away, ready to go. Beautiful. The third skill shot is a full plunge all the way around to the upper flipper and into the captain's quarters. Oh, there's a hole right there. Yeah, like a little gobble hole right there. However, if you loop that shot before you make it into the hole, it'll give you a 1x multiplier on your skill shot per loop you make. Ah! So there's some real big points to be had there. Normally it's 5k for making that shot, but you can loop it 10 times and get a 50k skill shot. Damn. All right. It's big. Another rule that I'd like to talk about before we start the game, this is the last one that I want to cover, is the Pirate Lane Awards. Yes. So spelling out pirate, P-I-R-A-T-E, will qualify several different awards that are available via the screen and action button. I had a question about that, absolutely, because I wasn't sure what I was walking into when those things were showing up. Yes. So your current award is available right here. It shows on the screen. It also shows in the color. There's a corresponding color of the pirate lights for each award. For example, purple is Playfield Multiplier Super X. Sure. Light blue is Shot X. Pink is Our Frenzy. So if you complete the pirate lanes with a specific color, it'll light up this little, little target right there. Oh, yeah. Your pirate target. You have to hit that in order to cash in your pirate lane award. That's what it is. Okay, because I thought that just having it lit, you're like, okay, this is good, but you're just lining up to smack that target to collect it. You're lighting up that target. Beautiful. So if you complete two pirate lane awards in a row without collecting, it's going to blow away your first one. Okay. So strategically, you have to hit that at the right time without blowing it away. You don't want to blow away your playfield multiplier. But there is a procedure to it because one thing you can do is qualify your Super X, not collect it, get like five lanes towards Shot X. Then you can collect your Super X, start it, get your last lane, get your Shot X, and then get something. Get something else. Get potentially a 36x multiplier. Oh, my God. Hell, yeah. Going into it. So lots of awards on there, including Extra Ball, including Liar's Dice, which is a mini-game. It's traditional Liar's Dice, if you're familiar with the game. If not, look up Liar's Dice. We'll look that one up when we get there. Yeah. Great. Yeah. It's a fun bar game to play with your friends. Everyone has a little set of dice, and you basically lie to each other and say, I think the entire table has five sixes. When you've only got two sixes, you're assuming someone else has three sixes. And then if they say you're a liar, everyone shows their dice. and if you're not a liar, you win. If you are a liar... You get stabbed. Yes. Got it. Okay, so we're going to be stabbing each other. Exactly. Hell yeah. Oh, plunder is turned all the way up, too. Yes, we have cranked plundering all the way up to Bedlam. So what does that mean? When you shoot it into the map hole, there's an 80% chance that you will plunder. Oh my God, so we're just going to be effing each other this entire game. Yes, absolutely. All right, great. I'm excited. I think that's everything. We're going to start the game. We're going to see a whole array of characters up here. Each of them has their own unique abilities. Their own perks and their own drawbacks. Excellent. So I am not going to go first because I would like someone that knows what they're doing to sort of kick some ass first. I will kick it off. For example, if I need to shoot the left ramp in order to collect a jackpot, but I brick the shot instead, and I hit a stand-up target to either side of the ramp, I can hit the the ramp, it'll still give me credit for the jackpot at one quarter points. Now that sounds like a pretty harsh trade off, but when you get into a wizard mode, the amount of super jackpots you have hit greatly affects your scoring.
