## Transcript

Today I'm going to teach you about basic water safety. Is that clear? Butthead! What is your problem? Uh, I can't seem to take my eyes off this girl's butt, sir. Coming to you from beautiful upstate New York, this is the Slam Tilt Podcast, a show about all things pinball. I'm your host, Ron Hallett, here with my co-host, Bruce Nightingale. Oh, my aching back! Yeah, we'll talk about that. And welcome to Episode 30, The Man with the Golden Gun. amc's baby amc american motors corporation lived in this one man so a lot of their vehicles were prominently featured is what you're saying they were yes a matador a hornet a 360 hornet which they tried to recreate in top gear back in 2008 and they couldn't do it also featuring one of my favorites christopher lee i was a big fan saramunga or that was his name right scaramunga yes It had Maud Adams. Maud Adams, who would also reappear in another Bond movie, which we'll get to. Yep. Octopussy. Yes, Miss Goodnight. Yes. Who got the role. She was not originally in the movie, but got the role because they saw her in her bathing suit. Yes, and she has big hands. No, she didn't have big hands. She had pretty good hands. Okay. Great start to the episode, as usual. Of course. As usual. And the theme song was by? Man with the Golden Gun. I don't even know. Lulu. Oh, God. You could have put a thousand bucks in front of me and said, who's this? You know, it's, you know. To Sir with Love and Man with the Golden Gun were probably the only two songs I could think of that she did. Yeah. So I am officially out of the Massachusetts final. Oh. I canceled today, unfortunately, with work and everything else going on. But I am putting back together the basement. The basement's back together, man. We're getting the basement back together. Yeah, she posted a picture on Facebook. It looks like some of the fleet is back up. Yeah, they're not level or anything, but 12 games are set up right now, the 12 I have. I'm hopefully going to bring back the other four back up to the house after I paint the other side, and then I have to bring all the stuff down from the living rooms and everything for carpets. Yay. Yay. But I think you're going to be one game short. One game less than last time. Well, Sopranos left this week. That's right. That's right. Sopranos went bye-bye. Martha, Nick Lane's girlfriend, Martha Finlanovin, as we'll call her, but she – that's her fun name. She purchased Sopranos, so it is at a new good home with the nude bod still attached. The nude mod. What the hell is the nude mod? Oh, the strippers? Yes, my dad painted the strippers. How wonderful. Excellent. It is excellent. So she got her first DMD pinball machine, which is very cool. I delivered it last night. And then some other guy is getting this freaking whodunit. Who would that be? I don't know. That could be – I think it's one of the hosts of that Slamtail podcast show. Yeah, really? Well, it's not me, so it's got to be you. There you go. Process of elimination. Yes, it is. I didn't realize that game was featured on Brody Weave and Pinball. It wasn't mine. It wasn't mine. Yes, it was yours. No. Yes, it was. It had B-E-N all over it with all kinds of scores, and they said it was yours. No. Yes. No. Yes. I don't know what to tell you, man. It was your game unless you went to Kevin Manning's house and played a crap load of games on his whodunit and put scores up all over the place. I don't remember whodunit being out there. That tells you how many games I freaking moved on out. Yeah, he has so many games he literally does not remember. Because I just looked up at the site that has all the pinball videos, like you could just put any game in there and it will search YouTube and all over the place to find a video for it. I saw whodunit and I saw, like, Brody, you even pinball. Like, oh. So I check it out and as they're describing, as they're going over the rules, I see all the high scores, you know, B-E-N, like six billion, B-E-N, B-E-N, like, wait a minute. And then they basically just said it was, this is Bruce's game. I don't remember that, boy. That's just so funny how I don't remember where I take my games. That is pretty bad. My games go everywhere, I swear to God. That's awesome. So if anyone wants to see the actual whodunit I'm getting, and I'm plugging the Buffalo guys at the same time, you can check out that particular episode, because that's the actual whodunit that's coming here. I also got rid of my puck bowler today. Wait a minute, you had a puck bowler? Yeah, you don't know this. See how weird I am? Yeah, you are weird. What puck bowler did you have? I had a Parker Bones Jr. puck bowler from Jersey Jack Pinball. Parker Boner Jr.? Yep, I had a Boner Jr. The sad thing is I know who that bowler is. I used to watch bowling back in the day. Or Jersey Jack actually was Jersey Jack. He actually created a puck bowler. And where was that? Down at my barn, at my dad's barn. So it's been sitting there for about two years. I got it for free, and I did a good thing, and I passed it off for free. Also did another good thing this week. I got a free Gauntlet Legends from one of the Buffalo guys, Jeff Becker. He got it from another guy for free, and so I passed it off, and I'm going to give it to hopefully somebody else for free eventually. Gauntlet Legends, a video game. Yes. Blasphemy. Sacrilege. We're losing listeners left and right now. No, because you've got to have a couple of video games to have a cool place. Do you? When I had seven driving games, was that cool or what? That was cool. See? The interesting thing was the last couple of parties you had, nobody played them. I know, because they didn't really turn them on that much. I think it was more because you had mostly tournament people there and they weren't really interested. When we used to have the regular parties, they used to get played a lot. They used to get beat the crap out of. So what do we got for news? New color DMD. Yes, at the top of everyone's list. A new color DMD for Walking Dead. Yes, which is pretty cool because it is one of the newer games that came out, you know, so it is now colorized. Making a good game even better. Fucking dead. What other news do you have, sir? Let's see. Well, there was an update to the Jetsons, which was when the pictures came out, and we stated this too, they look quite sparse. So the spooky guys actually posted that they heard the comments. I'll say comments. They heard the constructive criticism, and basically they're building it for a pinball company, and pinball company had a certain budget, and that was what the budget was. But the pinball company is, I guess, increasing the budget, and they're going to do some additions to the game. Okay. So we'll see how that goes. There's a new code update for Batman. It actually came out when we were podcasting last week, .068. Yes, and I got to play it, but more on that later. we had um where would you play that uh at a place that has fantasy wow that sounds like a porn place actually it does actually there is porn there oh god pinberg is going to 800 players that's very cool very it was at 740 and last year actually was 669 for the final total so going over 800 with 300 people still on the wait list. Which is insane. Yeah. Good thing I got in while I did. Yeah, well, I made sure I was going to be in there. Yeah, I was at work using their internet because it is multiple internet pipes for redundancy. Yes. Oh, number one. Yawning already. This is a new tradition. It's a thing. It just yawns every podcast now. Mm-hmm. Yes. Other than that, I don't know if there was too much in the way of news. Yeah. Still trying to find me a fathom. Come on, guys. I got the play field, got the plastics. I need me a fathom to build. Build your own. Build the whole thing. Fuck that. Brucey needs a project. Brucey needs a project. Yep. I am almost done with the Harlem Globetrotters. That's cool. So, just waxed it Put some wax on it Oh my, yes, yes, oh my I waxed my Harlem Globetrotters I did post on the Slam Tilt Podcast Facebook page That George Sakai was saying a lot of oh my's during the Super Bowl Oh yeah, that's right, there was a George Sakai commercial What was it for? Pizza Hut, nobody beats the Hut Oh my Yes, and he was enjoying the ordering of pizza. Every time he ordered pizza, oh, bye, was being said, except for the last time. Oh, bye. Oh, bye. So what did you think of these Super Bowl commercials? They sucked, mostly. Only one I liked was that. That one was good. I liked the Melissa McCarthy one, although that was actually an older commercial. I think I've seen that before. I liked the Christopher Walken one was okay because he's Christopher Walken the only one that really stood out in my mind was the Cam Newton one yeah with the football I thought that was hilarious that's a Buick my son's Cam Newton I just like how he's going to throw the ball and the kid's like I'm open and then he's like no I'm not don't throw it yeah it's like 20 yards down the field that was pretty good that was excellent That's the only ones I can think of. I mean, nothing really stood out in my head other than watching that choke. Oh, God. That was a choke, folks. I know a lot of New Robert Englunds fans say it was a great comeback. That was a choke. No, that was – if they just kneeled on the ball. If they literally – if they got the ball and just got one or two first downs per series and punted. they were on a 30 and they kept on trying to throw and throw and get sacked. If they just kneeled and kicked the field goal, game over, man. Game over. Yeah. Well, they're 0 for 2, Atlanta. It was kind of, it was interesting seeing the owner. He left his booth. That's when they all fell apart. He left his booth to go downstairs, you know, because he wanted to be in the sidelines, you know, for the celebration. When that happened, it just fell apart. Yeah. Now he gets to go be on Trump's cabinet. God. Technically, he's not supposed to be the owner anymore. Like, he's, I don't know, it's his wife, daughter, someone else supposed to be the owner now. Yeah, his wife was pretty young there. She was not. She was not young. My father was saying that. When they showed her on the sideline and did a close-up, no. Well, she looked younger than him. He looks like death warmed over. Yeah. Lord. No, I think Robert Kraft is the one with, like, the 35-year-old model for his girlfriend or whatever. Oh. Yeah, you go, girl. So what else we got on the list here? That was about it for news. Kind of light news. Yep. Setting up the games, though. My back is hurting right now a little bit. Ow! One side of the basement is completely painted, so I had to move everything over from one side to the other. So I was like, let me set them up. So I'm going to put the post of my picture up in the next day or two, and you'll see what I am talking about and how little games I have left. I actually made them big spaces between so I can actually get between them now and I still have a lot of room downstairs excellent yeah excellent great hey some people would kill for 12 games I actually have 16 there's 4 more down the line actually there's 17 there's actually 18 down the barn so there's 2 more after the 4 and I still have timelines so guess what in the next month if it's not gone it's mine Wait a minute. Okay, that's the game you were holding, and then it was sold. I've been holding it for five years. Yeah, and that's not an exaggeration, folks. It has been at least five years. That thing has been in his basement. Jerry originally owned it, but he sold it. And then I told Jerry a month and a half ago, hey, we need to get it out of here. Crickets. Does he own it? I thought someone else owned it. Somebody else owns it, but he knows the person who owns it. Oh, okay. Aye, aye, aye. Yeah. I mean, that's just, once again, you know, we hate to insult Gottlieb once again, but you just can't give them away. That's how bad they are. I mean, you literally cannot give them away. It's just, no, I know I paid for it, but I really don't want it. You can keep it. Hey, can you pass on that, really? So I think my next project will be trying to get Nineball to fully work before League Night in April. You still have Nineball? I still have the 9-ball. Oh, okay. That 9-ball is not going anywhere. All right. That's right. You can't get rid of it. It's in better shape than mine. Exactly. I've got to stay one up on you since you're buying all my other games. Buying all your other games. Now, technically, I didn't buy the last game. My parents bought that game. Yeah, okay. Okay. That is their money. Believe it or not, that was their money. Not mine. It is their game, as they remind me. As I'm sure as they're listening to the podcast right now, they'll remind me it's our game. And by the way the lights don work Fix it Yeah you dumbass son Yep so I got to do my free repair work after I get Harlem done that the next project get GI lights working on to see which it's harder when it's darker it's harder when it's dark there you go more of a challenge more of a challenge for dad play better so do you want to go to the mailbag next we did miss last week we did miss games we like games we hate I know people are probably dying and chomping at the bit for that, or do you want to go to the mailbag, mailball bag, since we have to have a mailball bag? I want to go over this first, just because I participated in a tournament. What tournament would that be? That would be the Batman 66... Stop. The Batman 66 launch party, which I guess... It was not sponsored by... Yeah, it was at Rock Fantasy, and they wanted to do an actual launch party, and then they were told by Stern, oh, we're not doing that, because it's a premium game. It's not a, you know, we just do that for our main games. That's a, you know, collector's item game, or whatever the hell they said. But they sent some stuff anyway, which was laughable. They sent, like, they sent a bunch of these plastics that were, like, almost similar to, like, clear plastics, and we couldn't tell where they went or what parts, what games they went to. There's just all these miscellaneous parts. It was very bizarre. So they did the tournament in the usual way, which is they have two tournaments. They have a, what I would consider, think of Pinberg style, where you're playing foursomes. Oh, my. Oh, and it's first, second, third, and fourth. That's all you care about. And you just have round after round, and the games are randomly picked, just like Pinberg. It's all match play. Yeah, and it's all match play. And they play for however many rounds they can get in in a certain amount of time. And then for this, they took, because they had enough people, they took the top 12. and then they did head-to-head, double elimination. So I played two out of three games. Again, well, actually, in the head-to-head, the higher seed got to pick the game for the first one, and then whoever lost got to pick the game. So they did that. And if you lost, you went to the loser's bracket where it was just, instead of two out of three, it was just one game just to keep things going. If you lost, you're done. Done. So I ended up qualifying fourth. So I got a bye. Rarified error for me. So I ended up playing Greg Pavarelli and beat him, I think, in three games. I'm trying to remember what I picked. I know he beat me in Game of Thrones. I beat him in whatever the first game I picked was. It might have been ACDC. Yeah, I think it was ACDC. and then I beat him in Star Trek Next Gen. So then I played Mr. Bowden. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. So he was the higher seed, so he picked Star Trek. I'm like, oh, okay, cool. Yeah. I tried to hang. I had Kobayashi Maru. I had a chance. My third ball I had, I was in Klingon, like the last mode before Kobayashi Maru, and I was trapping it, but with the software, it stops the clock, which is good. So you can't just timeout mode, so I'd have to hit a shot and try to get control again. And let's just say that didn't go too well. So I ended up training out and I lost that. So then I picked ACDC because that's always my go-to game there. I usually play that ACDC well for whatever reason. I have no idea. I didn't play it well this time. Fail. Fail. Fail. So I lose. I'm in the loser's bracket. I'm trying to remember if I played anyone before. I played Ed, Ed Z. And I got to pick ACDC again. And I won that. So I got to play in the loser's bracket final. I got to play Tim. Timmer! Timmer! Mr. Sexton. He was in the winner's bracket, and he lost to Steven Bowden. So he got knocked down. So we were battling to see who got to play Steven Bowden twice to try to beat him because we'd have to beat him twice. It was a 2-2 out of 3 series. Let's see. How did that go? Oh, yeah. I picked ACDC because I was the higher seed. And, yeah, I had a decent game, but Timmy had like a 50 million song jackpot at one point. That hurt. So I ended up losing that. So I was eliminated. Timmy went on to play Mr. Bowden. They played on Rolling Stones, the newer one. Okay. And Steve won. And then they played Kiss, and Steve won. So Steve won. Steve won again. Yes, another victory. He was, I think out of the nine rounds we played in the regular match play section, he was first place in his foursome eight of the nine times. That's pretty dominant right there. Yeah. And then we went to, funny thing is, during all of this is going on, they're having the Batman 66 tournament, which as usual, I wasn't paying attention to the rules. You'd pay so much, I can't remember how much it was for like one game, but you do like $5 for three games, and you're playing trying to get the highest score possible. And I thought it was just like, they were paying the top four, and I just figured they were going by whatever the highest scores were. So I played, after I got eliminated, I still hadn't played yet. I'd been on the waiting list for hours and hadn't had a chance to play it. So I finally played. So this is the first game I ever played on Batman 66, ever. The high score on it was like 750 million, I believe was the top score. I had 685 million in my first time ever playing it. I was second at the time. Ended up, by the time they did the cutoff, I was third. So I'm like, oh, cool, third place money. That's cool. And they said, we will now do the playoff. Like, what? There's playoff? Playoffs? Playoffs? Like, yeah, the top four play one game, do decide, first, second, third, and fourth. Like, oh, cool. All right. So I got $200 million. I don't think anyone else got $100 million. So I ended up winning that portion of the tournament, which was funny because I think the money ended up being actually more than the main tournament, or at least close, because so many people had just put in. I know I won like $50. Plus I got, for the winner of the main tournament, you got a Robin bobblehead, which everyone was like, who wants Robin? I want Batman. But then you got the money. The winner of the Batman portion got a Catwoman bobblehead. the money, and a Batman 66 LE Translight. So as Steven Bowden said, he pointed to me after it was all over, and he said, the real winner is right here. Very nice. So that was very nice. I definitely left with more money than I came in with. And that's always a good thing. And plus they had free pizza there. So that was excellent. and they showed a rock fantasy documentary, which Bruce Nightingale was prominently featured in. Oh, God. The camera didn't break? They really liked your kiss story, which you have told on the podcast. Yes. About Bruce's first kiss that he brought from a crack house. Crack house. Yes. And they liked the first game you played had Fonzie on it. Yes. Because they played some video. It was like some commercial from the 70s, like a home version. From the Coleco version. Yeah, the Coleco version of Fonzie, and they were doing that over your voiceover, so that was funny. Yeah, that is funny. Yikes, because that's not the game I picked. I, of course, picked 8-Ball. 8-Ball. 8-Ball Deluxe. Nope, 8-Ball. That's gone, too. Yep, 8-Ball's gone. We should have a game where we have, like, does Bruce still have it, yes or no? And you just pick games, and you're like, just yay or nay, to see, like, a game show. I don't regret selling it, yay or nay. There you go. So that was that. So I guess we can get into... The ball bag, or do you want to go game? Yeah, we can go into the ball bag. The slam ball bag, the slam-tilt ball bag. The mail ball bag. Here we go, folks. Oh, bye. We've got a couple. We actually have three. Oh, we've got three? So there's one on the site? Yes, there was. All right, so I'll take the emails. You can get the one on the site. Actually, I'll save this one for last. We got one from Ryan. He was the person who asked about repair resources, either last week or the week before. And he is looking for our help. Oh, God, poor guy. Oh, no, no, we're willing to help you anytime. He's trying to decide which machine to buy next. He currently has a Simpsons Pinball Party, Whirlwind, and a Dialed In on Deposit. He really likes Adam's Family and Twilight Zone. So he's a Pat Lawler guy here. Oh, come on. Come on. Be nice to our listeners. What are the pros and cons of Adam's Family and Twilight Zone? Okay. You want this or you want me to start first? You're just going to be mean. Adam's Family, I like it. It's an excellent game. Pros are, there's lots of pros. I mean, it's just got cool features. It's got the cool, like, computer-controlled little mini-flipper. It's got, I don't know, two ramps. It's got a cool bookcase opto-target thing. It's got a cool multiball, cool sound jackpot calls. And, I mean, it's just an all-time classic. There's a reason they use it all the time in the PAPA tournaments. As far as maintenance, I would think thing may be an issue. Magnet burn. Magnet burn and the fact that it doesn't pull out. It's a hinged play field. It's actually one of the reasons they went to hinged playfields because of the bitch of trying to get to the thing with that. Because Getaway came after this and they went with the hinged play field with the supercharger and all that. So you could actually pull it out, pull out the play field. I thought Getaway was before that. Nope. Getaway was before that. Well, Getaway is the same year. Getaway's before that. Gator's the same year. It can't be before that. It has the hinge. Okay, Adams Family has Fliptronics, one Flippers, and a non, you know, you can't pull it out, Playfield. Getaway has Fliptronics, too, and a pull-it-out Playfield. So how can it possibly be before that? Hold on. February 2, 1992, Getaway. You can't go by that. That's not. I'm going by that. They put production dates on there. They don't put the release dates on there. They're going by, like, when they started working on it. March. So February to March. As far as Twilight Zone... Clock. I mean, it's a good game. I'm not a fan. Yeah, the clock. The clock. What else? Magnets. Magnets. There's a ton of shit in there. It's probably got Optos. Yeah, Optos, Gumballs, everything. And it has... They didn't have the new trough yet. So it has this bizarre, like, diverter thing where the shooter is that they used because they had so many balls in the game. Yeah, that's what I'd say the pros and cons are from, well, we didn't say gameplay. What are the pros and gameplay of Twilight Zone, Bruce? There is none. There is none. One of the highest ranked games ever, and there are no good shots in the game. Okay. No, there's a good loop on the outer orbit, you know, right outer orbit. That's the only thing. Oh, but wait a minute, wait a minute. Now, you see his reaction to this game, folks. How many times have you owned Twilight Zone? Once. Okay, I thought you were going to say twice or something. No. That would have been funny. And how many times have I owned Adam's Family? Once. All right. So that's Ryan. Hi, Ryan. Sorry, but don't do either. Well, if I had to pick between one or the other... Oh, I'd pick Adam's Family. I pick Adam's Family, but I think you'll find most people will say Twilight Zone. So it's really up to you. Or do none of the above. All right. What do you got for the site? We have a person we've talked about on our website in our chat before, way back with the Buffalo Pinball. Gene, Gene the Dancing Machine. Gene, Gene the Dancing Machine. Gene Cunningham? No. Oh. Gene Huang. Oh, okay. Oh, yeah, that's right. He did a – okay. Yeah, go ahead. He posted saying he heard us talking about the Black Rose being one of the longest shots in pinball, and he thinks these are Punk or Spirit. Both have the same shot on the upper left in their wide bodies. Super far shots are both satisfying. The Spirit one is cool, however, because it curves away from the game and almost seems impossible. Oh, and he says, Ron is the most underrated host on the podcast, which means the other one is overrated. And he starts laughing. So that means I'm better. Wait, how do you possibly figure that from that statement? I'm overrated. That means I'm the best. I'm the best. I swept the leg. Overrated, so you're the best. Yes, your comprehension of terms is incredible. I swept the leg. Yeah, you swept the leg all right. Yeah. Do you have a problem with that? Do you? Now, the funny thing is, Punk, I think I played Punk once. I think I only played Punk once. So I really can't tell you. I can't recall that shot. But Spirit, I think it got us there because it's a wide body, and I believe it is longer than the regular play field. And that is literally the very upper left, about as far away as you can be. And the shot does look impossible when you look at it It looks like it not a possible shot but it is Friend of the podcast Zach owns one He has one in his bedroom actually Yes he does And I sure he be listening to the podcast to hear us say that Not. I'm sure he won't. All right, the final mail item. That sounded weird. The final piece of mail, like piece of news, we have is from our resident Australian. Good day. Ryan C. He's back again. See, if you actually email us, we talk about you. Maybe people don't want to be talked about, at least not with goofy accents. Well, maybe. He likes it because he keeps on talking about it. That's right. He never played a 24. Let alone with CSI. Actually, be happy you never played CSI. It's not a good game. No. Interesting. CSI, Tron, and Family Guy only made it to Australia in very small numbers. Interesting. And he's never played a 24. So our jackpot calls from 24. Jackpot! Jackpot! Jackpot! Actually, if you say that enough, it almost sounds like Simpsons' pinball party. Isn't he scratchy? Jackpot! Jackpot! Jackpot! So he wants to know what are our top three favorite jackpot call-outs, and we must say them. Oh. Oh, my. Oh, my. Now, that would be a great jackpot call if they had that in the Star Trek game. Jackpot. Oh, bye. Oh, bye. So what are yours? Maybe we can flip-flop back and forth here. You do one. I do one. I'm going to go super jackpot. Which is from? You can go either way. You can go either Indiana Jones, which is, you know, you do it a little bit better, but also, you know, jackpot one. Oh, Lord of the – yeah. Yeah, that's what I was going to take. Hopefully I don't blow the speaker out, the headset here. But, yes, that's one of my favorites. That's what really got me into Lord of the Rings. When you start hearing those freaking jackpot call-outs, it's like, holy shit. That guy is awesome. He should be voicing over every game. I can't remember his name. I just named him Sala from Indiana Jones. But, yeah, all the different, you know, jackpot one, jackpot two. And then they start getting, you know, double jackpot five. love those love the worst story you can go for afm with super jackpot oh baby super jackpot oh baby yep so is that your okay so uh mine is actually it doesn't say jackpot but it's still one of my favorites and it's a game that is no longer here black knight 2000 yes you are champion Some of the coolest music ever. Yes. And it'll keep going. It'll keep going until you lose your ball. One of the only, probably, I'd say, software issues with the game, because it's like, I locked another ball. Why am I still hearing this music? Yes. All right, you next. That's about it for me. You only got two? I blew my load. You blew your load. Oh, how appropriate. He has Jack-Fucking-Pot, which that is one of my favorites, too, from Metallica. If you get it with the two doublers, you'll hear the Jack-Fucking-Pot. Let's see, what other ones can I think of? Well, it doesn't say it, but it does actually say it in one of my favorite games of... Barbed Wire? No. No? Big Hurt? No. High Roller Casino, when you go into the wacky names of the jackpot. Oh. You just need to buy me one. No. Anybody who wants to sell me a High Roller Casino, I'm interested. Oh, God. That's terrible. I need a Fathom and I need a High Roller Casino. Hook a brother up. I got one more. Okay. The game does get monotonous, but on Champion Pub. Yeah. Six tuple jackpot. Yeah. All the, you know, yeah, yeah. Triple jackpot. Quadruple jackpot. Ah, sextuple jackpot and cow of a jackpot. Yep, and hell of a jackpot also. It does hell of a jackpot? Yes, that's what you get like the 15 almost. Holy shit. Yeah, I know. So there's a lot of good jackpot calls. There's a lot of good jackpot calls. Oh, I also honorable mention, again, it doesn't say anything, but the getaway slash Game of Thrones super jackpot. I call it the Dwight Sullivan super jackpot effect. There you go. Let's see. Ryan says the worst call in the modern game has got to be Pirates of the Caribbean. Because, correct me if I'm wrong, there's a guy telling you it's light, but no call out when you get it. Oh, when it's lit. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Let's see. Yeah, it doesn't actually say. Yeah. Like when you sink the ship, it doesn't really say anything. It just changes music. Ho, ho. Now, there was actually a good deal around here in Rochester. I almost grabbed it, but I should have, actually. There was a home-use Pirates of the Caribbean that went up for sale locally. It went for $3,400. Should have grabbed it. Should have grabbed it. But I didn't. But you didn't. You're showing good restraint. Yeah. I got one more. Actually, World Cup soccer. Just the whole, there's all kinds of things. Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun. Because it's not jackpot, it's goal. But goal! What an incredible shot! There's no stopping this team! Love that guy. NBA jam dude. And he's also an NBA. The underrated Stern game. Yeah, that's very underrated. I don't even put it on my chart. Oh. All the listeners hate it, too. Yes, they do. I'm the only person in the world who likes NBA. I guarantee you Tom McCullough has one, though. Tom McCullough has to have one. He's got to. He's got to have it. He's probably right next to NBA Fast Break. So, repairs. Anything going on? No, setting up the basement. Putting the basement back together. That will be next week. I'm going to start working on – I'm actually going to get back into repairs a little bit. I'm going to go over to Zach's house actually Thursday, I think, and check out his big game finally. Bet he got working, yes? Yes, he did. It's fully working. I got to like even attempt to turn mine on and see what the hell happens. See what smokes? Well, yeah. The blown solenoid fuse kind of gets me worried. Yeah, those blow again. And the ridiculously just fucked up flipper wiring that I think they did to try to – because the one switch, the nylon spacer fell out. So I think they just tried something to get the flippers working. Yes. Well, he is so sick. He actually took – remember the spacers that you needed, the pieces of plastic between the flippers? The metal guides. Yes. He took his out. He took his out. He wanted to make it like scissors. But wait a minute. Aren't there lights there that you can hang it? He took the bulbs out, too. But there's still a socket. I know, but he still wanted to see if he can actually, you know. That's dumb. Harry Williams did not mean it to play that way. I know. He put it back, but he's ready to try and see how it did. This is crazy. Oh, yeah, I got to play Cheetah again at the tournament. I still love Cheetah. Okay, that's good. Then you have your next turn. I inquire every time. It's just, it's like, and people will agree with me, it's like the anti-Ghostbusters. It is. Where, like, every shot feels good. Every shot feels good in that game. Swept five targets, five drop targets, one shot. Like, ah. Oh, my. And it's got our friend of the show, Scott, he's got his software in there, because it was formerly his game. So it has the, where you can't just keep collecting the bonus on the left side over and over. It fixes that. issue. And I have been sending some more friends, speaking of repairs, finishing up the Harlingo Trotters. Also, I've done some more testing and sent some more feedback to Scott, who's trying to finish up the new Firepower ROMs. Mm-hmm, and? He's changing up a few things. The multiball, we'll do 3x for 3-ball multiball, 2x for 2-ball. If you're in multiball and you light a lock, Unlike the original code, if you lock a ball, it ends the multiball. Say you've got three balls, or if you have two balls and you have a lock and you lock one, it ends the multiball. He's going to try to make it queue up so it won't lock it, but if you drain your back to one ball, then you can lock it again. That'll be cool. He's also just doing things with the diagnostics to try to make it more like a System 7 game, so the switch tests and things like that are a little more effective, because the switch tests on the 6 and before suck. It does. It will only show you what the last switches you did. And it just sucks. System 7 will literally show you everything that's closed in order. It's just a much better diagnostic. So that's it. That's it for that. I don't think I have any more repairs. So without further ado, games you like, games you hate. We missed this last week. so we'll get prepared for whatever cyst and three-gat lead Bruce is going to come up with. I think he's running out of them. No, I still have more. But I didn't do that. Okay. I'll start. One of my favorites, and Bruce had this briefly. Grand Prix. Yep. Probably my favorite Steve Kordick game. I especially like the alley pass prevention method. Where if you try it, you will lose the ball. Because it's hard to explain. but the way the in-lane guides come down, it has a space so you can lose the ball. Game of hate. Whereas I have played a Time Warp without banana flippers, and it was okay. Disco Fever, it wouldn't help. It still sucks. Disco Fever and Time Warp are the two games with banana flippers, and nothing is saving Disco Fever. Disco Fever sucks. Yeah, I know. It does. So those are my two. What do you got for me, Bruce? Okay, you guessed poorly this time. You've guessed poorly. Game I hate, Baywatch. Oh, boo! You teased me two weeks ago about it. Boo! Okay, listeners, please, please, we need help here. Ron needs help. You need to tell him that he is wrong. You need to tell him that Baywatch is a good game. It's not a good game. It's a good game. And guess what? Eric can't say it's a good game because he sold his. just because you sell a game doesn't mean you don't like it have you sold games that you liked yeah but okay that was for money i don't think he was doing for money great play field tons of shots love that game nope you're wrong okay next nope lani rob i'll stop with the stop with the lani rob hatred but there is oran day in it so that helps a little bit and some kevin martin it's one of the games he worked on he's actually one of the guys you save in the, uh, they're floating like one of the, uh, you're supposed to save them. You see one of them's called Kevin. That's Kevin Martin. Of, of Papa fame. Game I like, which I'm hoping to get back one of these days. Shoot here and here. Terminator 3. I will go to Ron's house and play the shit out of this and see which. Yep, and he had one. Yes, I had one. I had a cheap one. I bought mine for $12.50. That beats me. That beats me. and you had that weird issue where, like, oh, the cannon had a short in it. So every time you fire the RPG, it would reset the game. It actually blew a hole in my board originally. I had to re-hack the board to make it work. But it's a good game, great shots, great music. Interactive backbox is really cool, too. Underrated game, and got to be set apart, though. Got to be set apart. Yeah, got to be set apart. And a little tweak in the rules. It could use a couple little tweaks. I would like if the multiball was different than just hitting the damn target over and over. I like the multi-balls where it's like you hit all the shots, and then maybe there's a super. Maybe they could have done like you hit three ramps, the two orbits, and then you've got to hit the target down, and then you hit it in there, and that's the super. Or something like that. Custom speech by Ono Schwarzenegger. So you get the Govanator. Yes, the funny thing is Terminator 2, he was a pain in the ass to get in the studio and work with. But Terminator 3, he was very cooperative. The career was not exactly on the upswing. I will do anything as long as I am on the game. And I am on the game at least 10 times. He is. Look at Terminator 3. Count how many times Arnold Schwarzenegger is on there. The backbox alone, I think he's on there like two or three times. He's on the plastics. He's on the play field multiple times. It's a ridiculous amount of times he's on the game. But I am the best. Wonderful photoshopped art that we all love. Yeah. Yeah. So let's see. Oh, second yawn. Yeah, it was a long time between. Long time between yawns, yes. Mm-hmm. So we got the games, we got the firepower. I posted a video out on our Slam Tilt channel. No, not a porn video. Damn. Really? Really? You like me that much, Bruce? Oh, my. Oh, my. He wants to see me in action. Well, you can see me in action as I talk about Flipper Hop and why it's bad and why it's more prevalent these days, especially in older Stern games especially at high pinball shows with lots of restored old Sterns And I kind of explain why that is the case So it requires a visual hence the reason it on the YouTube channel So for our listeners, go check it out, especially if you're into older sterns, you're thinking of getting some, thinking of restoring one. I just put some, I hope, words of wisdom out there. and of course our own scott immediately commented on it of course of course so that's about all i got what do you think about buying next what's your next dream game uh dialed in dialed in le okay oh you were oh other than that yes of course you know you're gonna get that one unless it's three years well you're gonna get a game before then besides WHO dunnit i mean WHO dunnit yeah Dream game. Dream game. I want a Fathom. I want a High Roller Casino. But what I really would like to get is like a Medusa. Another older Bally. Medusa. So we're doing our want list. Okay. Cheetah. Dragon Fist. For going old sterns. I want a Stargazer if anybody wants a really nice one. I think you need to sell me one eventually, Ron. Yeah, because there's so many of them. No, no, no. Yes, exactly. Yeah, exactly. That's really it at this point for the old Sterns. I'm thinking about it. Oh, Meteor. Yeah, Meteor would be nice, but you can get those pretty fast. Yeah. I see Meteor. Oh, and, well, of course, the same one you want. I'm surprised you haven't said it yet. Quicksilver. Yeah. I said that already. No, you didn't. Yes, I did. You'll listen back to the podcast, and you'll see that I said it like a half minute before that. I'll edit it so I don't ask. so it looks like I already knew. Yeah, of course. We edit so much on this podcast. Yes, we edit so much. As you can tell by the professionalism that is presented on this podcast. Yes, which is none. Let's see, what else? That would be it for the old sterns. Bally's? Just Fathom. Paragon. That would be it. I can't think of anything else. Need a Fathom. If space wasn't an option and it was cheap, something like 8-Ball Champ. Yeah, I'd like that too. I would actually go for one of those. So if we go up, let's go to newer. High Speed. High Speed. No. High Speed someday. I owned one. It was okay. I'd like to get one and put it right next to the getaway. I would like a Sorcerer. Laser Q. Alright. So if I go into William's Land. Well, actually it wasn't William's Land. Or 90s. WPC Land. Fishtails. Meh. And this one's for you, Dad. And me. Whitewater. Oh, good boy. I have nothing in the Williams era. Yeah, your tastes have gone... It's neat to see how tastes change over time. You started with an old Bally. Yeah. And you had your Williams era kick. And you reverted back to old Bally and Stearns now. Yep. But a new Stearn, we definitely got to have high roller casino. Just got to reiterate that one again. No, I agree with Scott. It's good for parts. No, it's not. Take the board set out. Use it for, okay. Like my taste, like the first two games I had were early solid state Williams. Then I went on the 90s Williams kick. I think everyone goes on. You know, the greatest games ever made. then in the middle of that I got the Spider-Man there then I started to go back in time getting like System 11 action and then I just keep going back now then Old Stearns and Bally I would like to say working on the Harlem, Bally had it going on with some of the stuff they did and what I mean is like the whole center section of Harlem where the spinners are all those posts They're all through-hole. They're all through the play field to T-nuts, which, you know, the older Williams games I have, there's almost no T-nuts at all for anything. Everything's just wood screws. So the posts, you know, the posts get loose, fly off, holes get reamed out. But just little things like that I noticed. Like just even like all the little mini posts are all through-hole with nuts on the end of them. And just a little notch when you slide the play field out, You can put the game in and put it up. Just little details like that. I think they definitely had it going on. Two latches on the backbox instead of just one. You know, little things that impressed me. Make you happy. Yeah, just like that. You know, they were thinking. They were thinking of the consumer, which would have been the operator at the time. Yes. That's all right. That's all I got. So what do you think of the man with the golden gun? I loved it. AMC, baby. all the way. Just like it because of all the cars. Yes, of course. I thought it was okay. It's okay. I like Christopher Lee, but in that movie, I think they could have made better use of him. Oh, definitely. The laser thing, okay. I'm just trying to think of some of the... Well, you had... How can we forget we had Tattoo. Tattoo was in there. The plane, the plane. The plane. both the plane the plane the plane I um what was his name Phil it's like a French name I can't remember it sorry I mean I like the I like the theme song it's good it's okay just trying to think of any it has the cop that was in live and let die he makes a return you see that he's only returning he was on vacation and they have another you know he even looks at him like you again he looks at Bond you know you again I just figured I'd bring it back to the Bond thing. I expect you to die, Mr. Bond. No, we passed him. Sorry. Now, we had Christopher Lee in this one. So that's about all I got. So what do we got for upcoming shows? Go right to it right now on the 10th of February, which is this Friday, the monthly pinball at Trapper's Pinball, Trapper's Pizza, Friday, 530 East Syracuse. Also, the 17th of February is the first meeting of the Central New York Pinball League. So if you go to Central New York Pinball on Facebook, you can go check out and get the information for that. So if I drive two and a half hours, I can be in the league? Yes. So get your fucking ass out here. Yeah, sure. You can stay at Eric's. Well, what day is league night? Friday. Oh, okay. And you can come anytime you want. Oh, really? So you can get there at 9 o'clock at night and still play. Oh, it's one of those. Okay. Yes. So it's an easy one to join. Easy one to join. There's no excuse. Can I just play my own games and send the results? No. Damn. Not that easy. The 23rd of February is the Flipping February, a tournament of pinball. That's the name of the February one. It was changed from the Love One. So he went flipping February, a tournament of pinball. Wait, wasn't this, was that the one that was like the Valentine or whatever? Yeah, it's based on Valentine's, but. Oh, I like the old name better. I know. Oh, well. Yep. Six games, Getaway, Sword Fury, Fire, Disco 79, Electra, and Grand Lizard. Good time had by all. And I think there's something going on February 18th. I think it's the 25th. Oh, it's the 25th now? I thought it was the 18th. No, it was the 25th. Let's check to make sure. No, I think it's the 15th, 18th. No, it's the 25th. Is it? It is. It is the 25th. February 25th at Rock Fantasy, the IFPA Winter Open, which I believe it will be the same format as the match play from the Batman. Now, luckily, if you go on their Facebook page, it's from 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. Oh, yeah. Yeah, he always puts that. That will not be the case, I can tell you. Actually, well, no, if I go there right now, it says 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It says on mine 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. Oh, God. On the top it says 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., which that's not right either. If it's going to be the same format as it usually is, it will be. 2 a.m. No, I believe they open at noon. It'll probably start at 1 and it'll go to whenever. The good thing is there will be a lot of people down there playing. Unfortunately, League Night for Western New York will be there, so I know Eric, Jason, and myself will be in League Night for us. So probably nobody coming from upstate. Well, except me and Timmy. Timmy's in Poughkeepsie, so he's just dying. You're already the only upstate person. Actually, yeah, I got on his case because Tim, a lot of these tournaments, he will be late, even when he's running it. I know. And when I'm driving there last time, I realized how close Poughkeepsie is to him. I kind of like, dude, how can you be late? It's like right there. I know. So it'll be similar format. We'll see how Ron does. This is the only way Ron gets his upstate points. It's like my upstate points haven. It's the only way I could ever make the upstate tournament is by playing there. And I'll probably be at the Buffalo Open, I would assume, especially being now that it's a circuit event. A major circuit event. A major circuit event. And they announced, that's one thing we didn't mention, they announced the voting. Oh, yes. And they're doing it this way to try to make it not like the Stern voting. When Stern had the voting for the, what was that again? The biggest Stern fan? Yeah. You could just like, you know, yeah. You could just program bots to vote like crazy. Now they're requiring like a valid Facebook login, and confirmation and basically so you can't just keep voting over and over. Yeah. So that was nice to see because originally it looked like it was just going to be an open vote. Like, ugh. Here we go again. No, it will not be like that. So please vote for PinFest. I liked PinFest. Yes. Good show. I recommend it. So I got nothing else. One month and ten days. until Arcade Expo. You got it. We'll be out in California. Come see us live! Live! We'll be out in California. At Arcade Expo. I'll be bringing the camera. We'll be filming some stuff for the podcast. Yes, yes, we will. Can't wait to see the facility. Yes, me too. Especially since they've done so much work on it. I've never been there. Here it's really big. Has a shit ton of games. Like, a lot of games. And when you're someone like me who's not in an area that has any games other than my own. I like going to these type shows where there's just like a crap load of different games. They have a lot of older games. Yes, they do. So I want all of our fans to complain to Ron saying he needs to actually join a true pinball league this year. Where? What league? Syracuse. What, two and a half hours? Yes. Or I could do the Orange County League, but that's at least two hours, and that's usually in the middle of the week. So, yeah, that'd be great if I got home at 3 in the morning. So Friday's better for you. Friday's the Salt City Pinball League. Next Friday you can come. It's at Wizard's Pinball. I'll even get you a place to stay at Eric's. No. Come on, Vance. I'm not that hardcore. I'm not that hardcore. Complain to him saying get your ass in gear and actually be in it. Or they could complain, like, why don't you start a league, Ron? Yeah, okay. It'd be me and my dad. that would be it. I don't know who else I would get. Because the pinheads I know aren't like, they don't necessarily travel a lot or really have the desire to. So what are you going to do? Don't forget my website, www.pinballlifter.com Check out my stuff. We are going to be in Allentown this year. Well, we're living here in Allentown. And they're closing all the factories down. And you'll never find a Williams seven-digit display. When you need it. Not even in the flea market. But their farmer's market is awesome. And it is. Third yawn. Yeah, third yawn. I know what I'm doing in the farmer's market, though. I'm going to that one pastry, the cake section. and I got this humongous piece of chocolate cake. I have quite the sweet tooth. I know you do.
