- **Primary:** Recent game releases and sales performance, King Kong market failure and secondary market softening, Pro vs Premium vs LE feature differentiation and pricing strategy, Expression lights as standard LE feature demand, Stern's declining sales trajectory and market saturation
- **Secondary:** Portal rapid fade from community conversation, Medieval Madness remake instant sellout and distributor pre-order lists, Designer reputation vs market performance (Elwin case study)

### Sentiment

**Negative** (-0.65) — Hosts express satisfaction with Kong Pro design quality and Pulp Fiction gameplay but deeply concerned about market signals: Kong LE failing to sell out despite strong pedigree, secondary market weakness across recent Stern releases, pricing sustainability, and LE/Premium feature differentiation erosion. Tone shifts from cautious optimism about individual games to pessimism about industry trajectory and market health.

### Signals

- **[business_signal]** Stern's 2-year declining sales trajectory signals systemic market saturation or pricing unsustainability: Venom weak → Jaws peak → John Wick bad → X-Men bad → D&D average → Kong non-sellout (confidence: high) — Cengiz charts pattern: 'Everything just took a step down. How can Kong not sell out, Donnie?' Notes even Elwin's best cannot move inventory at current price points
- **[event_signal]** Medieval Madness remake sold out 1,000 units in 5 minutes; attributed to 2+ year production delay accumulating massive distributor pre-order backlogs rather than exceptional demand (confidence: high) — Don: 'initial line... that's important... distributors have a list of probably 1,000 people by now just waiting to get it. So as soon as 1,000 went out, they were all spoken for'
- **[competitive_signal]** Jack Danger designer tier games (X-Men, Foo Fighters) showing Venom-level secondary market pricing despite community sentiment; secondary market reveals designer status insufficient to drive value retention (confidence: medium) — Cengiz: 'Have you seen the prices of Foo Fighters, Ellie? It's just 9K, man. They're like Venom prices, man.' Notes weak community response visible in active dumping
- **[design_philosophy]** Stern cost-avoidance strategy on expression light integration for Kong LE; avoids coding spend despite proven success on John Wick LE (confidence: medium) — Cengiz: Stern avoids expression lights 'because that's extra money they have to pay to a coder to integrate those light shows'; contrasts with successful John Wick LE implementation
- **[market_signal]** Portfolio management visible in Kong LE sales: buyers deferring purchases pending Harry Potter and rumored titles; LEs with insufficient differentiation vs Premium attracting hold-back (confidence: high) — Don: 'People are looking at how X LE dropped in money... do I really need to jump into an LE... when Harry Potter ready to come out. There [are] some other rumored cool titles on the horizon'
- **[market_signal]** King Kong LE units actively offered for sale by distributors after initial allocation; secondary market showing weakness despite Pro version strength and Elwin design pedigree (confidence: high) — Don: 'now the same guys are posting LEs for sale. So what the heck is going on, Donnie?' Cengiz confirms LEs still available while Pro sold out immediately
- **[personnel_signal]** X-Men mid-development designer change from Tim Sexton to Watson; community aware of transition; code still early-stage contributing to weak secondary market performance (confidence: medium) — Cengiz: 'Tim Sexton's not around oh no, we've got the other guy Wason's on it.' Notes code maturity concerns and their impact on game reception
- **[market_signal]** Stern price increase unjustified and likely harmful given Kong non-sellout; hosts explicitly warn against Spike 3 system cost pass-through (confidence: high) — Cengiz: 'If they raise the prices now... no effing way. It's not the time right now.' Argues market cannot bear higher MSRP given recent sales patterns
- **[product_strategy]** Portal's rapid fade from community conversation directly attributed to collision with Dune and Kong releases same week; modular platform positioning creates category isolation vs triple-A titles (confidence: medium) — Don: 'Portal probably their best game... has completely dropped off now having dune and kong launch in the same week didn't do it any favors as far as longevity'
- **[product_strategy]** LE features (cosmetic backglass art, LED variants, expression light capability) insufficient to justify $1-2K premium over Premium edition; buyers recognizing aftermarket customization alternatives (confidence: high) — Don: LEs lacking expression lights, 'isn't really any different than the premium except for some back glass and upgrades that you can add yourself'; Cengiz argues expression lights should be standard LE feature with cabinet cutouts
- **[product_concern]** Kong animation/cinematic approach inferior to Jaws movie footage strategy; lacks pulling-power narrative compared to prior licensed titles (confidence: medium) — Cengiz: 'Kong is more dynamic than Avengers Infinity Quest animations. But it's still not like watching... Jaws, it was like, right away, like, yes, I want to go swimming.' Attributes Jaws success to character/narrative immersion Kong lacks
- **[sentiment_shift]** Community sentiment on Kong shifted from anticipated Elwin masterpiece to qualified approval; king-tier designer status insufficient to drive LE sellout (confidence: medium) — Cengiz: 'I was expecting it to be a great shooting L1 game. It's a great shooting L1 game... I can't believe this is the greatest game I've ever seen.' Notes Elwin's pedigree should guarantee success but doesn't

We are pinball, lights and sounds collide, living for the silver ball ride. A room with silicone drops, deep dives in the hall. We ain't just fans, no, we are pinball. You know who it is. We are pinball back in effects. Cengiz and Don in your ear holes like we're some golden fried prawns. Get in on the pinball action. We got games dropping left and right. We got stuff to get caught up, get talked to. We got a special guest on this episode. Top Patreon member Josh Cox, Velvet Steve is in here with his diamond hands to run all over our greasy bodies. So we're going to get to it. Cengiz, sir, how are you doing today on this weekend? Oh, yeah, baby, I am feeling great. We're about to record episode number 32. Can you believe it? 32 already. We talked about six months ago. We'll make one show each month. Like six months later, show number 32, and with a special guest today, I mean, I am pumped like nothing else, man. Yeah, we're pumping harder than some breast milk over here. Wait, that's probably not the best thing to... I'm going to leave it. I'm going to leave it. How are you feeling, Donnie? I was talking with you on the phone midnight, man. How are you? No sleep, no nothing? No sleep, up all night, work driving me nuts, and now I'm back home in my studio. I'm looking over at my Pulp Fiction. I'm going to finish installing the new electric playground topper on top of the Pulp Fiction with the gun lights and sound boom boom bang bang action it's going to be a good day pinball's fun man I get to come home and play pinball at least absolutely man you're still you're still keeping that beautiful game Pulp Fiction how could I not man I love the film it's got great retro styled gameplay it's a hell of a game there's modern code that's in there with that Pulp Fiction frenzy mode man it's nuts I love it every time I get a character frenzy it's awesome i got a good topper now so like we're set man i'm set on pulp fiction it's just you just you have all the new games and this one is so you know art deco it's so retro so i was like well done like this game will this game be a keeper for this long time i'm positively surprised yeah i wasn't sure at the beginning because when this game did release um i did go ahead and i put the le in my card i was gonna get it and i'm like i don't know if i number one need another game number two it's it's retro styled maybe that's not for me and then of course i played it and i'm like yeah no this is this is amazing this is like such a cool game like it's like a bond 60th you know where it's like that throwback design but with modern elements it plays really well i even have an appreciation for uh beatles now too after playing that again i went to a private collection with jeff at mad pinball and i was like you know what this game slaps, even though there's no ramps, no wire forms. I dig it. Yeah. Going old school, yeah. I love it, man. I love it. So, new games on the way, Donnie? All the time, all the time. There's a Kong Premium making its way through here. This Dungeons and Dragons, I got two Dungeons and Dragons' behind me. This one will be going out. A Kong will be taking its place temporarily, getting made over, and then out to 1UP Lounge. Shout out to them. But yeah, that's coming. And then Harry Potter exists on the line at Jersey Jack Pinball, I'm led to strongly believe. So, may as well be the month. How cool is it? How cool is it that Jersey Jack is already producing these games? This is what I said on all our shows. When you release a game, have them ready in boxes! So, Jersey... Now, look, with Jersey Jack, with Harry Potter, they don't need to rush out and launch a day before Kong. Right? They got Harry Potter. So, guys, take your time. build up your inventories so that when you do open the gates and you have the game, you're just packing shipping containers full of these things and sending them all over the world like freaking owls with messages inviting kids to Hogwarts. Man, I want my owl to come swooping through, take my $15,000 and give me a golden snitch edition of hopefully a good game. I don't know nothing about the layout other than this triple play field level, whatever that is. Who knows if that's even real? from the bottom of my heart to Jersey Jack I really hope this is going to be a huge success I want this game to sell minimum 10,000 games minimum 10,000 what if this comes out and it's like Batman 66 and it's got like a rotating double door office in the back and like two ramps I'm just kidding I was just playing it can't be like Batman 66 because Batman has got jazz and this one has got i like the music of harry potter it's not my favorite movies no nothing but but the music i like it i like don't you i like the world they created right you know like i don't sit there and identify with harry as my spirit animal i just like uh you know the other characters they made i'm more of a fan of like hogwarts and like that location and just uh living in a world of magic and mystery you know the children whatever they go and do what they do. Hagrid's cool. I want to watch more Hagrid stuff, dude. That's my favorite character. I think they put everything into this game. Please, yes. Yes, please, daddy. I can't wait. I can't wait to see it. Absolutely, man. Absolutely. Donnie, I want to ask you. This has been an amazing month. Just from today and one month back, we're just blessed. We're so happy. New Pinball Day on top of New Pinball Day. I just want to put a feeling outside there and just fast discuss with you. So the first game we got for about a month ago was P3 Multimorphic Portal. It's called Portal. I was thinking about the game that reminded me of Portal. What was that called, man? A first-person shooter that reminds you of Portal? Half-Life. I was thinking about Half-Life. one on two. Right, because this was part of the orange box back in the day. There you go, some nerd cred. Don't think about half-life. So, Portal. You end up not buying a Portal. No. I don't have to worry about it because every time I go to a show, it's there, and so it's basically my local game. So I don't have to own one because I'm always near one. I just have to fly out to Boston and I'll go play it. I'll fly down to Texas and go play it. Whenever I need some Portal, I just jump on Spirit and they take me away. So, about a month passed by since portal when i scroll on my phone on facebook i see nothing about portal today a month later how is it for you is there portal discussions portal talk portal i want to buy this how is it for your phone feed over there yeah no and this was like i think it's probably their best game too and it seems to have just completely dropped off now having dune and kong launch in the same week didn't do it any favors as far as longevity um and i feel for poor merlin's arcade now too because i think it's getting buried although although turner's portal now portal now so if you feel like there's like not really that much talk about portals it's in its own category and i i think that's by design you know it's made to be this modular system so it's hard to compare it to like standalone like triple a titles that are coming out right now from the other companies so yeah i just don't think it's part of the the conversation i think everybody that's going to buy a portal has already bought a portal i don't think there's anybody still there on the fence you know thinking about it i think just about nobody's going to buy the simple edition they're going to get the extended one uh because why wouldn't you and uh Yeah, and then that's probably all we're going to hear about it until next year when they have another release. Do you think it was a big seller portal? Well, so you have to look at it in terms of multi-morphic installed owners. I think everybody that has a machine and isn't looking at selling one has probably bought this game. How many that is in raw numbers, we don't really know. They don't release that. I know anybody that's got a 30-pin collection probably has one of these in there too because that's just the disease we all have. You've got to have one of everything. But I don't know anybody that has one or two pins where one of them is one of these multi-morphics. So if you're a total flexing pinball guy and you've got this arcade that we're all super jealous of, you'll probably have one and you've already bought it, and you bought a Merlin's Arcade as well. So invite me over. I want to come play it. I have fun playing the game. All right. All right. Cool. That was portal talk. Yeah. Let's move over to the next game you got spoiled with. I love this just game on top of game. Merlin. Merlin's Arcade. We got Merlin from, what's the company called? Turner Pinball. Turner Pinball, yes. Out of San Antonio, Texas, the heart of freedom in the United States. Well, used to be. Anyway. So, so, do you feel now about months later, do you feel a lot of hype around Merlin? A lot of talk? No, but I was talking to Chris Turner during the TPF weekend, and I was like, guy how's your new game doing now that it's revealed now that it's unveiled and he said better than you would think donald and i was like well thank you mr chris turner can i have one of your chicky nuggies and he was like absolutely take one right now and what a great guy um i've heard some positive uh comments about it pop up here and there um some people some people really love that art i was taken a little bit sideways by it it seemed a little kind of cutesy it looked like Disney gummy bears or something. It wasn't something that I saw and I'm like, that's a hot, sexy pinball machine that I want to rub my body up against. But I do like the vibrancy of it. I like his build quality for that. But people are actually saying the game looks like it plays really fast and they were into that. For me, man, I love games with tons of wire forms, right? I walk up to Avengers Infinity Quest and I see all those ramps and silver going everywhere. all the ramps in Looney Tunes. I love those elevated ball paths. And Merlin's Arcade just has the one. And so I'm like, but where's the rest of it? That was what I was thinking. The ramp is missing. But Beatles doesn't have any ramps. Pulp Fiction kind of cheats and kind of has one, but for the most part doesn't and does just fine with it. Bond 60 doesn't have any ramps, and that's a good game. So I think it will gain some appreciation. I think selling out $500 is a bit of a steep ask I think $200 would seem a little bit more desirable I would think to own I would really like to know some numbers there man It's not sold out, we know that It is not sold out But how much enthusiasm is there for it? It's only been at the one show so far I've been at Pentastic, I've been to MGC It wasn't at either of those two shows So I think once it gets around we may hear a little bit of a late buzz on it. But right now, not a ton. Okay, okay. All right, cool. Next game we got, we're so lucky, we got, again, again, again, Medieval Madness Remake! How much hype do we have today about that game? It doesn't matter. They all sold out in five minutes. That was crazy. Exactly. Now, the reason that they did was because this game was supposed to, was talked to have been into production for like two years now. So every distributor has a list of probably 1,000 people by now just waiting to get it. So as soon as 1,000 went out, you know, they were all spoken for. Now, whether, you know, customers that joined the list two years ago came through and finalized their purchase or the distributor just went ahead and bought them all out just so they have extra to sell, I don't know. That's no doubt. That initial line. That's important. Yeah, but I have heard talk that they're talking to distributors like, if we did another 500 extra, would you guys buy them? so they may kick out more of these Merlin potion editions and then if I'm CGC I'm thinking like well when do we do the green sparkly goblin edition because shouldn't that be the next one you know are they shipping out? this is a month ago no they're not shipping out they're not coming until 2027 come on man CGC I saw somebody just got Pulp Fiction LE number 537 delivered and it's like so there's still another 470 of these things to make. My God, I've had my standard edition for like a year. I've got a topper on it now. I've got mirror blades. It's kicking ass. And it's got kinetic satisfaction up there with a rolling ball. Shout out to Electric Playground. That topper is crazy. I'm telling you, I love it. Yeah. But I don't know. Hopefully, it would be great if they made all 1,000 by the end of the year. That would be fantastic. I don't see that happening. but yeah they'll probably always be able to turn around and sell a thousand Medieval Madnesses yeah so we don't really need no hype today because all the thousand were sold in a flash so yeah I think their next run with another thousand game will cost even more and they will probably also it's a top five game on pin side list man so yeah the build quality is fine they're only intermittently available So when they come up for sale, you've got to jump at one if you want a chance on ever having one for MSRP. I won't buy Medieval. I won't buy Attack from Mars. But if they start producing Monster Bash, I will buy one. You'll be in a Monster Bash. That's a game, yeah. Monster Bash, you don't really get tired of that game. It's a fun, very easy game. I love it. How about Tales of the Arabian Nights? I had it. But like a CGC remake of that, brand new, everything, all mechanisms and things. Would you buy it? Probably. That would be one I would strongly consider. More than Theater of Magic, more than Pinball Magic. It's still a great game, man. No, don't remake Theater of Magic. Oh, my God. There were some rumors that they should remake Theater of Magic over here in Italy. from Pedretti, and I wrote to them. I said, don't do Theater of Magic. Don't do any more Pedretti, please. Funhaus was, come on. That game's not having a lasting reputation, that Funhaus remake. It's selling for low prices. I saw one for $5,000, I think. The stand-up targets are weird. It's not the same game. Like, CDC will make you the same game brand new. Pedretti's making you a copy of it, you know. it's like when Pizza Hut brings back one of their special pizzas from a long time ago and it's just not the same anymore because the recipe's changed that's what it feels like oh okay so on the second of the market they are going pretty cheap in the US yeah yeah wow I didn't know that let's jump over to the next game we got which was King Kong baby from Stern yeah man King Kong what a freaking game This has, like, everybody's talking about this game I mentioned that I'm not underwhelmed I'm just absolutely just satisfied and whelmed with it I was expecting it to be a great shooting L1 game It's a great shooting L1 game I don't really have any complaints about it You know, it doesn't have the most stellar art I've ever seen But it's perfectly fine So it's like, okay, this is kind of what I was expecting Very good Of course I'll get one and we'll move on But I don't have like, I can't believe this is the greatest game I've ever seen. I can't believe it's finally here. Wow, he's really outdone himself. He's just, he's done himself. And his self is really good. And the game is really good. And it's going to take so much to top what he's already done, you know. Oh, yeah. Elvin is the man. Absolutely. So when I made a video about Kong, I was like, okay, pro versus Ellie. I saw this moving Kong which was cool on the LE I saw this dong ding dong swinging thing it was very cool on the LE and the spider I really didn't care about so yeah the spider as we all know I'm gonna sound a bit harsh now but Stern invited a lot of media people over which is great and I'm just loving that they invited youtubers over because i would rather have one youtuber than 50 podcasters i'm not cheating on podcasters we are podcasters we got a youtuber called vick vp he made awesome videos with pro gameplay and premium gameplay we saw everything there thank you vick vp shout out from here. So, instead of, you know, podcasters talking, I saw what was going on. Because not even Stern has shared a pro gameplay video, right? That's true. That's true. Thank God they invited YouTubers also. And nothing evil or bad against podcasters. We do podcasts also. But it's just so cool to have everything early on, on a video. So, I watched both videos. Enjoyed them highly. great audio great great visuals after i watched those two videos i changed my mind i was so surprised with the pro donnie because you have all the shots on the pro like the kong that's not that doesn't move i can live without it because when i when i buy the pro i paid a premium price right yeah yeah exactly yeah the spider you still have the magnet down there right right and that dong thing yeah right now it feels like the shot is open on the premium le you will get the ball back but that doesn't happen on the pro so we'll always make that shot on the pro but they can adjust that with a code update of course so after vic vp's videos we're getting the pro version and we're getting the special turbo delivery unboxing location edition build pro so I think we'll have it fast in Denmark I love the cabinet art on the pro I love the trans light on the pro this is how a pro and premium should be the pro has the shots the pro has the gameplay the premium has several little things that are just a little bit better do something so if you're used to a pro on location and then you go to somebody's house and they have the premium you're like oh you have that spider thing that is neat you have the kong moving that is neat oh you've got the gong that's neat oh you do have the train car visit you know physical locking ball mech you know that's a cool thing like the premium should be all the gameplay of the pro which is these extra cool little things that you just feel kind of fun that you have you know but that doesn't happen every time sometimes you just you just mentioned uh avid uh avengers yeah avengers pro doesn't have all the gameplay all the shots off the premium. So sometimes you're really left out, you know? Yeah. Just like with Jaws. Jaws feels empty on the Pro. It does. And when you look at the LE, oh, my God. And just having a static shark there, that doesn't have the same gameplay as the moving shark in that moment when it comes up. And it's a bash toy. It's an upper play field. It's a flipper. And people say, well, I heard somebody say this yesterday, that the upper play field, it was so hard to hit that shot up there anyway. And it's like, well, the Pro has that same shot. It still is hard on the Pro. It's just all you get is a wire form. At least you get those extra shots up there. And there's a couple of extra wire forms up there too, man. And when you hit that one to the upper ramp, it swirls around, goes backwards 180 underneath, hits the spinner, and then comes back to your flipper. That's fun every time. Like, tell me that's not fun. To shoot up there and then get into that extra wire form. I love that, man. So that issue, we don't have it on the Pro of King Kong. and with that over here and we will get it home by plane so that's $1,000 on top of that. It will cost us a premium. It will cost us $10,000 for a pro version game but with the VP's gameplay, I think you have the whole game there. Of course, the toys are missing but for $10,000, we're getting the pros so I am very excited. You still get that log diverter with the action button so that's a good gameplay mechanism that's in there. It's not missing a flipper. If it was missing that upper flipper and log diverter, that's what would have done it. Yeah, and it's not missing the magnet at the spider. Yeah, absolutely. That's important. And it's not missing the drop-down targets, those sweet little drop-downs. Yeah. Because when you bought the Pros, you were missing the drop-downs. It would just stand upstairs. So, yeah. I feel like after I watched the gameplay video, so, yeah, Pros on the way, and I hope it will be shipped mid-next month, mid of May. So that's beautiful. So I will make an unboxing video with that. I'm very excited. And when I scroll on my phone, I still see Kong stuff on Facebook. So that's cool. It's still popular. It's still holding up. But when it got released, I talked with a couple of distros, and they were like, Cengiz, it's all sold out. It's gone. No Elise, no Elise, no Elise. but now the same guys are posting LEs for sale. So what the heck is going on, Donnie? Do you know of some distros in the U.S. Are the LEs sold out over there? So I think what had happened – no, there's still some available. Okay. I think people knew the L1 was coming out, and they were like, get me on a list for the LE. And then the distros bought them and they were all allocated But then now we have Harry Potter ready to come out There some other rumored cool titles on the horizon People are looking at how X LE dropped in money They're looking at how WIC LE dropped in money. What was it? D&D LE, I think, is doing okay, but even that's not going to hold. So they're like, do I really need to jump into an LE that doesn't have $700 expression lights in it, isn't really any different than the premium except for some back glass and upgrades that you can add yourself? I think they're kind of softening Hong Kong LE. The LE has not the cutout in the cabinet, right? You cannot install the expression lights. Yeah, correct. Why, Donnie? Why? How much did that cost? Every Stern LE should come with the expression lights now. As standard on all their cabinets, they should have the cutout. So they don't do it because that's extra money they have to pay to a coder to, like, integrate those light shows and things. so they kind of say well we're going to say that for the music pins but it made John Wick so much better that was one of the reasons I was happy to have the LE because I got the lights with it come on come on Donnie yeah that should make it standard I want banana yellow lights there man come on when you're in the city, city lights when you're in the jungle mode, green lights it's just so important it gives the world on the glass of food. Imagine in Dungeons and Dragons when you hit the dragon's head during the multiball, if there was a flash of red that would run up the play field. And when he would shoot the balls, there'd be flame effects coming down the cabinet. How hard can that be to code? How hard can that be? You're doing codes for the lights in the backbox anyway, so just piggyback off that code. Come on. Come on! Come on! So, 933 games, right? Stronely. and Keith Elwin design on top of that and his team coding and all sort of stuff and it didn't sell out what does that tell you? Yeah, market's changing. Now imagine if they want to raise the prices to like $14,500 or something It's not the time to No, no, no, no, no, no, no If they raise the prices now, I mean, oh this is Spike 3 system, we need $1,000 more no effing way. It's not the time right now. The only way I could possibly see them doing that would be like, okay, if you get the LE, it'll come with the topper. When the topper's available, we'll just mail it out to all LE buyers. You know. You gotta do something like that. Yeah, they need to put expression lights in there. It'll be the same for them anyway, but I mean, no price increase. I was thinking price decrease, man. If Elwin games cannot sell out day one, you can lie to yourself. You can say whatever you want to say, but the reality is the reality, right? This is what's going on, Donnie. And Elwin is the best. I am sorry. He is the best. Don't be sorry. No, I agree. It's plain as frickin' day, man. As much as I love Brian Airdy, as much as I love the Borgster. Who else do they have designing? You think Elliot Elliot Eismin is going to get another game? The guy that did Wig? When George Gomez got that question, he was like, he wasn't sure. He used him as a mechanical engineer. He didn't get a straight heck yeah answer. But he got the question when John Wig was selling pretty bad, you know. So I don't know, man. I hope he will make another design. We got Jack Danger too. I mean I don't I said this before I think Jack Danger's games are you know their value you can see it on the secondary market right I don't want to bash the guy I love Jack Danger I like his games also I mean I reviewed the early version of X-Men I enjoyed it man I reviewed oh my god the Foo Fighters I love Foo Fighters I don't get the response of the secondary market but I think he will design another game no question about it man X-Men is still weird to me I saw the trailer and I upgraded from a premium to an LE, I'm like there's only 700 or whatever of them this layout looks amazing, I played it at the factory, it was awesome but the response from the community you can see it man people are just dumping these games left and right the code's still early Tim Sexton's not around oh no, we've got the other guy Wason's on it. Wason. Yeah. I don't know, man. On the secondary market, yeah. Okay, you're talking about X-Men prices. Have you seen the prices of Foo Fighters, Ellie? It's just 9K, man. They're like Venom prices, man. Wow. Yeah, look at the last two years of Stern, right? Venom was so weak. We got a high point with Jaws, and then John Wick was bad. X-Men, bad. D&D is like, okay, now we're finally, this is where just an average game should be. And then we get Kong again, and no, that's not selling out. It's like everything just took a step down. How can Kong not sell out, Donnie? I'm asking, how can this happen, man? I mean, what were we expecting that we're not seeing? I mean, he designed a great game. Like the design, let's talk about the design of Kong. Amazing design, right? Let's talk about the theme. Kong is not, you know, gone with the wind theme. Kong is a great theme. I don't know anyone that will say, hey, shit, I really hate King Kong. Nobody says that. It's not a, you know, yeah, I don't want to mention no themes here, but it's an okay theme. So why doesn't it sell out? Like, look at Jaws and look at Avengers Infinity Quest. Like, what was the main difference? The shots and layout are really good on both games. I would argue that Avengers Infinity Quest has more interesting shots than Jaws does. But Jaws had those cinematic movie clips. It had those moments with those characters that we know and love. Like it had that. Avengers Infinity Quest had these like kind of static cartoon weird animations. Do you like that static? I know. And when I look at Kong, it is more dynamic than Avengers Infinity Quest animations. But it's still not like watching, you know, if it was like a cinematic approach to Skull Island on the ship through the fog. and then Kong, you know, and there's all this CGI glory coming out, you know. Like, they don't have any movie assets to put on there, so they just have these, you know, animations, which seem fine. But even, like, Godzilla had real footage that was, like, funny and campy and fit. And this game just doesn't have that. Like, there's no pulling me in there. So they need to do it with the code, and it's good for launch code, but it still doesn't have, like, a good story to bring me in. Like, Jaws, it was, like, right away, like, yes, I want to go swimming with bull-legged women. of course and i also want to update one thing that i said earlier um about the music of kong actually when i watched both videos with the pro gameplay and and uh premium gameplay with high volume i get it now the music fits the theme donnie it's fine when you're playing the game It's not Godzilla craziness, but it's better than my first thoughts. So, yeah, music sound went up for me, absolutely. Remember Godzilla, when you get that multiball, and you can pick the Blue Oyster Cult Godzilla song? It's just such a good moment, and I hope Kong gets something like that. There's got to be some kind of King Kong music, right? Didn't War do a King Kong song or something? Throw a licensed song in there just for fun. I think that would be good times. yeah some updates so let's see what's going to happen so you're excited you're getting the game i'm excited i'm getting the game so yeah and people are still hyped about kong but just it's not selling out that just that just tells me do not touch the prices upwards no way so so for me i i got a premium on order that i'm doing as a project and then i'll be selling it on i'll be able to play it for a couple of months while i have it here develop some fun mods load it with bananas, whatever I'm going to do. And then later on, when the code is a bit more mature, with LEs still not selling out, maybe I can pick up a Kong LE with that awesome back glass art later for, like, the price of a new premium, you know. And then maybe that's what I can do. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, man. I don't see any problem with that. Cool, cool. Yeah. Good. Okay, next game I want to talk to you about is Dune. The Dune. the Dune. Where's the excitement for Dune? So it's there. There's a through line to people that would be into this game and that is because of Dune's aspect as a more cinematic type experience than just a fast arcade action experience. Now the game plays fast. It's not a slow playing game but like the music and the modes are more of like you know okay don't jump around like chicken jockey in a movie theater here. Sit down. This is a refined pinball experience we're going to go on this adventure. Like when I go to play Avatar, I don't play it like I'm playing Pulp Fiction where it's like bang, bang, shoot them up, get all the things. It's more like let's throw the glow balls all around the UV light field and take in all these cool cinematics and these really long protracted clips from the movie and all that business. It's like I'm sitting watching a movie, whereas I'll run over to D&D and just start slapping balls. We've got eight balls and a multiball beating up the dragon going nuts, right? so there's people that are like you know what I'm waiting on Kong I'm actually really excited about Dune they're out there they're just you know for every nine people getting a Kong there's one on a Dune that's like the level of enthusiasm has Dune sold out? it didn't sell out it has not sold out and it probably won't this year I don't think oh man I am rooting for Barrels of Fun I really do nothing bad towards that company but I don't see the you know I don't see the hype anymore I don't have any problem with how they built this game the game is built solidly well there's scopes everywhere in the game they put lights in there that comes with invisiglass they're doing everything they can to try to match what Stern LEs have in them plus a little bit more you know it's just that this theme I don't have a real connection to it is very cinematic you know it's it's okay I gotta play it more. Also the price Tony it should be around 10k Tony it should be around 10k. If it was 10k this would be selling a lot better I think you know it's like 11 something and they still haven't released the topper they still haven't released the shooter rod accessory you know and if you want to dress up your barrels of fun game with the giant wiggling worm on top, like that's going to be another $1,000. And then, you know, they'll probably have like a worm alternate back glass, you know, which is fine. But like this theme isn't pushing me over the top. It's the gameplay that has to do it. And, you know, for 11.6 and my budget right now, I don't have one on order. Doesn't mean I don't want to go play it a hell of a ton. And I'm getting one at my local arcade. So I'll have access to one to go play. So I'm excited about that. Oh, that's nice. Yeah. Well, from the side, a company is just standing there looking on all these releases. They're just laughing. Spooky pinball. Oh, my God. They're just staring at all these companies, dropping games on top of each other. They're laughing because they just sold out. I had a really nice conversation with Morgan. Love her. Nothing there. We talk with Spooky Luke all the time. Love that guy. nothing there and buck he's doing so great love that guy nothing there i'm so excited about this company what they're doing and also they're holding the price under the magical 10k limit i don't know how they do that and like this game didn't just sell out it sold out and everybody waiting for it can't wait to get their game nobody's like yeah i got in because i thought i wanted it but now maybe I'm looking to sell my deposit. No way. There's no $1,400 deposits for sale for this game. You know, there's people that want to pay $3,000 to go ahead and get this. People are on the line to buy this game. Yeah, for over MSRP, like legitimately. I could probably get $15 for my Evil Dead right now if somebody wants to sell it. Do you know how many they have shipped out? About 150. Okay. so earlier games from spooky or other companies who cares when they ship out you know 100 200 couple of hundred games you can see some of those that you know try to buy them as an investment or didn't like the games whatever they put them out for sale and when they come out for sale then the guy that's number 700 he's like oh my god i don't want to wait so i just buy this second hand and It just crashes everything. This didn't happen with Evil Dead. Nothing for sale on the secondary. People are listing, want to buy, want to buy, want to buy. Oh, my God. I mean, this is so awesome. If you got one of these early Evil Deads and it's still in the box, you could flip that guy right now for some cash. Absolutely. For sure, for sure. And I think what's going to happen is going into the next release, people are going to remember this, and they're going to rush in there with their deposits to try to get an early build, hoping that it sells out like this again, and then they can sell that new in-box one, and it's going to just drive it so much more, I think. Maybe I'll buy two. Maybe I'll try to get two. Yeah, man, you should have one in-box right now. But dear Team Spooky, we love you guys. Please keep the price under $10K. I'm just saying, if you jump up to 11,995, the magic just dies. So it's magical that it's four digits. Don't you think, Donnie? Oh, yeah. When you see that, 9,999 in this market with as loaded as it is. And all Spooky has to do is just come up with some awesome aftermarket accessories for it, and they can make up the difference there. I mean, you get a topper. You do get a topper. You have to pay, is it $1,300 more for the crazy topper? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, if you have the money, do it. But if not, you still have a beautiful topper up there. You still have a beautiful topper. And the game is a collector's edition for under $10,000. Keep it that way, and I'm telling you, this will hold up. I hope the next release will be even crazier than this for that company. Absolutely. So it's not about Win Schilling. It's just about telling what's going on. This is just a market analysis, or what's it called? What's going on right now? Going to the market, yeah. We're just reporting the facts. We just report the numbers here on the Cengiz and Don show. What's going on? You know, for the last one month, it was a very interesting month. I love it. The last game, Donnie, I want to talk to you about, is again Harry Potter. Yeah. I want them to sell 10,000 of these games. So we will get the game in like two weeks. How do you feel? When it sells 10,000 How do you feel about this? So yeah I talked to my distributor buddy About this And apparently I was thinking this $10,000 arcade edition Who's your distributor? Madpinball, jeffatmadpinball.com Give him an email I was assuming for $10,000 And a Harry Potter license And it's going to have all the same gameplay I thought the arcade editions would be like already hundreds and hundreds of people on the list, but what he's telling me is it's the collector's edition that he has tons of people on the list for. So they may make 10,000 machines, and they might mostly be the collector's edition, which is fantastic for people on the secondary market down the road that eventually want to come to Harry Potter and be able to pick one up. I see this as being a win for the community. I can't wait. I want to ask you this is early we haven't seen the game yet nothing yet are you on the list are we going to buy a Harry Potter I'm 100% on the list yeah I don't want to miss this Harry Potter train but the good thing is if I want a CE I don't have to like have my deposit there first ready to go make a decision in 10 minutes I can wait and see because they're going to give us a limited period of time where they're going to sell as many as they order so I can breathe I can go in there and shop it's like when you go into a fancy gallery and you can walk around with like your champagne flute and your little charcuterie and you can look at all the products over and decide which one you want to get you don't have to just like like black friday line up at 3 a.m wait for the store to open run into walmart punch a mom in the face and grab the tv like get out of here it's mine you know there's not going to be a fomo rush it's going to be very much like walk in see the product and the merchandise pick out what you want if you want it so and if the gameplay is just really devoid of anything interesting and fun there's only one one ramp one wire form i can say you know what i'll wait because i know this will always be available i could always get one if i decide i need one later no FOMO homie so this morning my brother jay he calls me and we had this two hour long talk and I'm like Jay so Harry Potter like two weeks should we just go for a arcade edition because the rumors are saying that the play field is the same so should we just order that one and he was like get the fuck out of here heck no it needs to be the collector's edition so yeah so very excited we're getting the collector's edition. Nice. Kong will have an unboxing video and Harry Potter CE will have a collector's edition video. So, yeah, beautiful stuff. Thank you, Donnie. Exciting. We need to thank our supporters on Patreon also. But before we do that, Donnie, last show, number 31. I have a question. First of all, we made a Patreon only show, right? Right. I remember that. How can it be? Yeah, how can it be when it's locked on Patreon and we have like 39 paying members in there? How can it be that that locked Patreon episode has been viewed by 211 times? Well, the only thing that makes sense is every one of our Patreon members is so enthusiastic that they've watched or listened to that show four times each. Four times? that's cool okay you know what's happening come on um yeah that's getting shared around we're so popular that people are like you know hey why don't you why don't you let me pirate that you know if we weren't popular people wouldn't care um which is fine uh you know try before you buy but uh you know if you like the buskers maybe throw five dollars in their bin is all i'm saying Yeah, man. So we had one guy that said our last show was too long. Patreon. Thank you. Show. We thank all the new supporters. And I want to answer this person, this guy. I just want to say, if people in this community chooses to support Don and I with $5, $50, $100, $150 every month, when they join the WAP show, of course we will thank them here. Like, everything else would be crazy. And yes, last time, number 31, we had a boom and explosion of new members. So, yeah, sorry if it took too long, but we will make it shorter this time. Let's go. Well, dude, live direct from the great state of Indiana, the Corn Shusker State, I think is what it's called. We got Mr. Josh Cox, executive super double producer level, here on the show. You can buy your way to the top. We are for sale, sir. Yes. Finally, we have been talking about this for weeks now, and we're so happy to have you here, Josh, our collector's edition level supporter. We're just so happy to have you here. Welcome to the team, buddy. Welcome. Thank you. There you go. It is a love show now. We have guests over here. We always do this. who's your daddy and what does he do right right yeah so we're gonna ask you a couple of questions first of all when did you start playing pinball machines dude that's a it's a tough question so i mean i think the virus got in like a super young age um so my grandpa had a pinball machine and when I got back into pinball, you know, he died a long time, like when I was 10, and I just had this searing memory of being like three in this pinball machine and nobody could tell me what the pinball machine was. Nobody could tell me. I desperately was trying to figure it out. I had this vague recollection and spent months going through all these old back classes. We figured that, you know, had to be in early 60s. Long story short, mom, I figure out what I think it is. I think it's this Gottlieb photo finish racing. It's like an EM single player. And a bunch of people looked in my family to see if there was any photos of this game. And they finally found one. And I posted it, I think, on the Patreon. I'm like three years old with my grandma. But I was right. You know, I think it's fascinating that I was right, that my three-year-old brain picked that up and nobody else's did. So that, you know, that's pretty cool. And then, like, I would play on location anytime I saw it. I mean, when I was a kid, I'd go to Aladdin's Castle. and about four years ago uh location play got got pretty serious and got pretty into it like uh you know people are giving me rolls of quarters for my birthday that kind of shit um so they know that i love it but then you know the notion that i could maybe own one of these yes i know that feeling yeah and so my wife yeah you know she knew i wanted one she was like i'm not gonna buy you one but would you rather like this Christmas go towards the pinball machine or this birthday go towards the pinball machine and so you know I don't know how long she waited a year and a half so early last year she surprised me that video I sent to you guys that was awesome she told me that the stepson's sink was broken I got home on a Friday night and I'm just like mother fuck And, you know, I walk upstairs, and there's a blood red kiss. Dude. I saw somebody was recording in that room when you stepped through the door all frustrated. Yeah, it was my stepson. And it was like, are you serious? Like, there's blood red, L-Viral blood red kiss. She's a keeper, Josh. She's a keeper. She doesn't care about pinball at all. No, it's okay. No, she doesn't like it. But she will, you know, before you own a pinball machine and your experience is just like at the arcade, they're kind of all mashed together. I mean, you don't really know. At least I didn't. You don't really know what's up. I don't have anybody else in my life that's like into this stuff. So she would just find arcades and there'd be the names of the pinball machine. And she's like, there's a big Lebowski. Didn't you say you wanted to play a big Lebowski? And it's 90 minutes away. So for, like, Father's Day, we do stuff like that. Oh, so sweet. You know? How come she chose Elvira? Well, how do you choose what the best pinball machines are when you don't know what the best pinball machines are? Exactly. But what do you do? You Google it, and it takes you to what site? Pinside. Yeah, of course it takes you to Pinside, right? So, love the horror theme. That's the highest rated horror game. Went down to Bank of Pinball or the Pinball Vault, whatever, and played it. And I was like, yeah, that's the one. And then the Blood Red Kiss. I mean, come on. Come on. It's so sexy. I had one. I loved it. But, like, not only – it wasn't like you came home and this thing was on a pallet in the driveway. Like, this was set up in the room. So, like – Yeah. Homegirl, like, drug it in and got it up. Got it upstairs and, yeah, got it set up. Maximum effort. That's awesome. Yeah, it's crazy. Do you still have that game now? Yeah, absolutely. I can't get rid of that game. No, I understand. I understand. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I missed mine. For a number of reasons, right? Yeah. Yeah. So, pinball machines, they just multiply. They multiply. Yeah, they multiply. So your next game, what was that all about? So I get that game and I start kind of getting into like that upper level that all of us are at now where we just consume content and, you know, just incessantly. But right before that, I'm thinking, well, what is my dream theme? and it never occurred to me that somebody would actually make this fucking machine but I literally like googled Texas Chainsaw Massacre pinball machine and the irony that Spooky Pinball had just started making that machine so that was the next one and I had to wait I didn't get that till January so I bought it back in or put the deposit back down in like May of last year. And it took until January because I got the butter cab. So it took a while longer. Nice. I love that game. What do you think about that game? The game is freaking awesome. I do not understand why more people don't have that game. Is it not like the most slept on title right now? Absolutely. Yeah. No, it is amazing. and the beautiful thing they did was have you play as the family. Like, who doesn't want to chop people up, playing people on hooks, you know? I get that maybe that's what turned some people off, but, you know. What other game, when you lock a ball for a multiball, it just shows, like, a teen woman just be, like, placed right on a meat hook? Oh, yeah. That's satisfying every single time. I didn't even know that about myself. but yeah like i got a kink and that's it man women on hooks and pinball and it's not uh it's not that graphic you know if like little suzy's your hangout for not buying that game you should buy that game yeah like tiktok is messing little suzy up more than that game would abso freaking positively man well we we got the we got the twin sister we got the looney tunes on location same layout but very different theme very very popular game absolutely and it shots and layout is just awesome and I remember when you started supporting us on Patreon we started you know writing back and forth so cool and you talked about Don has so much spooky pinball love in him and you had this beautiful Texas Tanks of Massacre and you were on the team here, everything just messed up. And all of a sudden, while we were riding back and forth having this fun conversation, you were like, all this Donnie's talk about Evil Dead. And all of a sudden, you just wrote a new line in there, guys, I ordered Evil Dead. Boom! Evil freaking Dead. What a game. What? Was that because of Don? How did that happen? No, I mean, I think that was because of Spooky and Evil Dead, right? Yeah, right, right. I mean, come on. And it took a minute. I had to kind of massage at home a little bit. You know, she doesn't want it to look like a Dave and Buster's, and I get it. Yeah. There's a finite amount of room in the house, so. That's fair. and when you wrote it on Patreon support the first guy that just made this big hit with heart on their eyes was Spooky Luke in there heck yeah so I was actually in the TCM owners club which that's the other cool thing about Spooky right I'm in the owners club Hilton is in there, Ben Heck is in there like anytime there's an issue or like things that people want in the code, like they're, they're super accessible. I mean, they, that last code update had a bunch of stuff that was like feedback that we gave them. Yeah. They totally changed the skill shot in a way that like takes advantage of how the geometry is set up. Yeah. And there was some bugs and some other stuff and like the hitchhiker, you know, I thought the video needed to go further and like they put the dialogue in there that some of us asked for. I mean, it's pretty amazing. Wow. Absolutely amazing, man. So anyway, I, I told spooky, uh, Luke had commented on one of the mods I made. Um, and I said something, I forget. I said, if he commented on my WAP shirt that I post in your guys, Patreon, uh, that I would buy evil dead. so that's what we did. Awesome. That's the manifesting. Yeah, thanks for sending me that mod, man. That was awesome. Yeah. Yeah, I didn't have any intention of making any more of those, and I posted in that. I've got like 20 people that want them. I'm not charging for them, which means I'm not doing them very fast. What a freaking guy. What a guy. Yeah, so this was like a metal replacement for that door in the back that you would smash into. Yeah. because you're not a fan right of the movie Donnie well I've never seen it like culturally I'm a fan of you know horror legend icon monsters you know so like I get it but I still haven't seen the movie but I dig the game I go through the Halloween mazes when they pop up at Universal but the door is just the most iconic thing in that movie the mode when like the woman's in there like trying to break out and like the door's just jimmying like she's behind there and you're like not gonna happen It's not going to happen. It's such an atmospheric game. You don't get that with Looney Tunes. You get the shots. The cartoons are fun. But there's terror and panic in this game that I haven't seen in any other pinball machine. Growing up, I wasn't the biggest spooky movies fan. I watched action movies and stuff like that. So a summer, I was about 28, 29 years old. We were on a vacation in Sweden. four guys four girls awesome in the cabin in the woods in sweden so they had this big projector is it called projectors in english yeah so they had this 10 years ago on a big big screen that was the wall of this cabin in the wood and i watched tcm for the first time there and that was a shocking experience, man. I was really engaged in that movie. I mean, that movie's from the 70s, right? Like, 79 or something. That's like 73, 75. Oh, my God. Even crazier. I mean, and it's a low-budget movie, but still amazing for its time. Absolutely, man. So that just, that movie, I enjoyed it there. And later, when we got the trailer for TCM, the way Zach, he edited the movie where the magnet grabs the ball and you can see the lady in distress, she screams and he takes her inside and the door locks, it's so iconic and it was just captured there I was sold, absolutely People need to buy more TCMs it is so underrated Do you think it sold out? I mean, so many horror games, though, they are all like, you know, they got it seems like almost all of them are camp. You know, I mean, Evil Dead's pretty. It's super campy, right? Like, yeah. And kind of everything else that's been popular is camp like Tales from the Corrupted Camp. Freddy's pretty campy. TCM's. It's funny at times. There's some funny stuff. I mean, I crack up when I play that game. I love the gas station mode when it's just playing like that old, like, honky-tonk kind of country music in the background. Yeah, that's in the movie. And you're just going around shopping, and it's like, it just doesn't add to it. I love that mode so much. But then I love draining all the blood out of the field as Grandpa, too. Like, that's fun, too. Is the game hard for you, Don? Would you consider it a hard game? I would call it moderate. It's definitely not a drain monster or anything. I've played much harder games. It's not a dick kicker like Black Knight Sword of Rage or anything. It plays kind of like Elvira, where you can get most games, you can get medium way through the code. And if you really buckle down and focus and get a multiball at the right time, you can get further into it. So it's accessible, and it feels fair. And I'm told that if you take out that one-way gate over the shooter lane, it plays a lot easier because instead of draining out that right out lane it'll go into the back of the shooter lane I haven't done that yet but so Josh do you have room for more games I mean after Evil Dead do I have room for more games the difficult thing is you know the kids are fleeing the nest here in a year and our plan is to move downtown into some high rise place and I really have no idea how much room I'm going to have. Oh, okay. So I'm hoping these things don't end up in storage, man. No. Either that or it's like time for Josh Cox and Busters to open and you can have your own location there somewhere and then you still have access to your games. Sure. I guess I could bring them down here to the clinic. It'd be okay. Oh, dude, I dream of having either a medical clinic or a hospital that's got some pinball machines in it because what are you doing except sitting around and waiting and what takes the edge off of searing abdominal pain more than a pinball machine you know right so like like why can't you play pinball while you're waiting to visit somebody or waiting for someone to come out of surgery to occupy yourself makes perfect sense to me um i get dead stares from hospital administrators when i bring it up but i still think it works so josh you're one of our early supporters on patreon and you have been writing very kind stuff to us. We just want to ask you, there are so many shows out there. What did make you choose this show? You're so active in our Patreon chat community, and you're a high-level supporter. What is it that you like at the WAP show? Well, like I said, I'm a super busy guy. I work 27 out of 30 days, you know, very limited time off. I can't go to shows. I really like an established friend group at this point. Like I am not able to hang out at barcades and like meet people or go to leagues or anything like that. So this just feels, you know, it's just a friendly show. It's a positive show. Nice. You, Jengis, you're so snuggly. I think, you know, Like, no, but seriously, like, I want to feel amped up. I want to feel good about it. I don't necessarily need, like, investigative journalism. You know what I mean? Yeah, definitely not going to find that here. Yeah. So, no, I mean, there's a ton of shows that I love. I listen to Wedgehead. I love those guys, the Electric Bat, Loser Kids, all that stuff. But, you know, I just like the buddy dynamic. You guys aren't sponsored? No. Nothing. Like, certain shows I feel like you get a lot of good information, but the information and the love may change based on the season. Does that make sense? Yeah, absolutely, especially this in the season of releases, man. We've got new games coming out nonstop. Yeah, like, you know, it seems like if you talk good about a pinball machine that you like, you get labeled as shill, you know? But to me, like, I see Win Schilling as, I know this product isn't probably the best out there, but I'm going to, like, talk it up anyway. Like, I don't feel like doing that, man. If the game's not good, I, like, I don't need to be playing it. But at the same time, like, a pinball machine is still fun. And, you know, I may not want to buy the thing, but I still want to go to locations and play it. And I still think that's okay. that only costs a dollar and i don't think you're really losing anything at that point so you know i don't have a dune on order but i really want to play it again you know we just have so much love and passion for this hobby and every new pinball day is a great day we just get happy i mean before we start recording don and i our happiness level is just off the charts so we talk a bit and just cool down and then start recording because we are being called shields. But on the other hand, we are also told that this is a therapeutic show. People get happy when they listen to the show. So some people say they listen to the same show multiple times, and that's just amazing. Another thing that's amazing is Josh, you are the reason, you, sir, Josh Cox, The real velvet. You are the reason that our Patreon levels just got like nothing else. Because we just started with $5 support and $50 support. And you were in there. You came in at $50 a month, and others came in also. And you hit us up. You were like, nope, this is not enough. I want more. Can you say, how did you feel? Why did you reach out and say that? Selfish reasons. Okay. That's good. That's good. That's velvet Steve. Good job, Jandice. Fuck these other people. I love you for that. I love you for that. So because – No, why not? You guys aren't – you're not pushing a company or a dealership. I imagine you could sell some pinball machines in Denmark, but, you know. Yeah, but. There are other places that are sponsoring, you know, you listen, and they're spread out all over the place. They're sponsoring 8 million different podcasts, which is fine. I think that great but you guys don have any of that so you know Crowdfunded baby Pump you up yeah We one tote bag away from NPR over here at this point And then deal this I mean I know what you guys do Like, in the grand scheme of things, this is, like, from a time standpoint, like how valuable your time probably is outside of pinball, the Patreon's nothing, right? Like, it's nothing. Yeah. To be honest, Josh, we haven't even touched the income from there. And it was like midnight for Donnie when I called him. He was at work. And we actually just talked about we should use the money to buy a mixer to get better audio quality. So we just put the money into this show. That's about it. But we love you for, you know, we made the $100, what's it called? $100 level. the tier yeah tier and when that happened we got more people in there and you were like you want more you want the next level so lots of josh cox everybody it's because of the real velvet we made the 150 dollars and josh he was and then we got enough more than josh in there also and josh was just we were just joking what's gonna don and i were actually talking if josh wants more what should we do? Donnie was like if Josh If Josh wants it at a higher deal Donnie, look at your phone! Wait, what happened? Oh, son of a bitch, are you serious? Are you serious? Ladies and gentlemen, Velvet Steve is just upgraded to Diamond Steve This is an increased Patreon support level to $200? Are you kidding me? Wow. Yeah. I think I'm going to leave the pinball show So, you know, they call me the rooster. Zach just thought that was so funny because my last name was Cox. That was the lowest hanging fruit he could come up with, you know. And, you know, I was kind of offended by it at first just a little bit. I thought he took it a little too far. But then I realized he's just obsessed. Like, you listen to that show and it's just nothing but penis and, you know. You know, sophomoric humor. So, you know, let's take his money and apply it somewhere else. I'm just kidding, Zach. I'm not going to unsubscribe. This is a piece of hot takes. Yeah, I'm totally joking, man. He absolutely has a great sense of humor. I think that CPAP might be a front, though. I mean, Josh, first of all, I mean, thank you for the support. This is amazing, $200 level support. I mean, I'm speechless. It's so crazy. I was already talking about if Josh does this one more time what do we do Don he said I will deliver him a pizza personally give him a hug 7 hour drive no big deal man when you look at these collector's edition level and then this ultimate supreme level there's no additional membership benefit so you'll have to come up with something Yeah, I think we need to I don't know Donnie, I think we need to change the supreme level to Josh Cox level Seriously, just call it that How about this? How about once a year I can pick a topic Not come on the show Just pick a topic Yeah, let's do it Anytime buddy Yeah, you want to cash in that button You go ahead, you hit it dealer's choice, and we'll talk about whatever you want. Okay. Hell yeah. There's a lot of stuff, man. When I got a pinball machine, I had no idea what was in store for me. You know, the idea that I was going to end up modding this thing, when they set it up, I didn't even know how to, like, take the glass off. I was looking how to turn it on. I mean, it's been a lot more than I recognized. And that's been half the fun of it, really. Right? Did you have some breakdowns, some repair jobs? You know, it's interesting. The Elvira I did, that diverter behind the house. Yeah? Yeah, I've had to rebuild that several times. I mean, little minor stuff. There's a lot of adjustments I had to make. Spooky's been stopped. It's solid. I didn't do much. The trough switches, the ball sits on each individual switch, so they weren't rolling down all the way. I had to loosen those a little bit because if it doesn't count the ball correctly, it's an issue. But other than that, that game has been so solid. I was shocked. I had not even played a spooky machine until that one showed up. Because that's part of the problem is I don't know why there's this reputation, you know, that they're not good for operators. And I know that's changing, but I've been a lot of places and have not played a spooky machine on location. So I bought TCM purely based on the theme and have been so pleasantly surprised. Like the quality, top-notch, that play field. I mean, I run my fingers over the stern, and I can certainly feel those inserts. I feel nothing with that TZM. Like, it just feels solid. Yeah. They've really become like a craftsman's house, you know, and I've been able, I mean, they're local to me. So I've seen their old setup, and just leveling up from the factory that they had to the one that they have now, that line, is helping to solve so many issues. Like, they don't even come up anymore. I mean before it was like grab a playfield downstairs Run upstairs, populate it, run it back Downstairs, throw it and then build Go downstairs to another building Then throw it in a cabinet and then begin the QC process And it's like just so much Opportunity for error and Non-repeatability with that And now that everything is on a line Even you know there's a TCM next to a Looney Tunes Next to Six Evil Deads right now Just rolling on down and they're QCing Over multiple days at the end of the line Everybody gets a hand on playing it Before it goes in a box Like, it's such a better process now. I mean, for some people that are new in this industry, new in this hobby, they think it's like a PlayStation. You buy this product, and it's just ready to go, and it will just play for years and work perfectly under the warranty. That's not the case with pinball. It's just not. We're not there yet. I mean, I don't know, Josh, if you look at my YouTube channel also, So I do unbox most of the games today. And some of the times when I unbox a brand new game, the issues that I'm finding in there are just heartbreaking, man. And some of it I don't even show on the camera because if I did that, that company would hate me. So we definitely need better quality control. But what Spooky is doing right now, last year we became official distros of Spooky here in Denmark. the first thing my my bro said was we need to test the product so we put it on a location and let people just beat this looney tunes and it held up no issues no trouble it's amazing product so now we're we're okay by selling spooky because the thing a distro never likes is to sell a pinball machine and then get a phone call yeah something something is up jengas you need to get yourself you need to get just break down and get a tcm and just put it on your location as a test it'll probably be your top earner because there ain't another one around and people are gonna see it like eight-year-old kids in there donnie yeah but do you see what they watch on tiktok already yeah yeah it's not the kids it's the parents man we have on the first elvira game from 1989 i think elvira and the party monsters from valley the back glass we we changed the back glass so you can see elvira with tits out oh and they're yeah yeah it's so it's so it's so cool looking but it's just a drone you know but it looks beautiful but we have some mothers that what is this this is not cool you're showing titties like this so yeah and the kids are like whoa this is cool yeah yeah I'd be all about that yeah yeah we have guns and roses where I can see two naked ladies covered in roses and guns in their hands but But, yeah, on a location, it just doesn't work. And I think the next spooky pinball will come early because they have their shit together now. They're building in a proper way now, I think. And this is only 8, what was it, 888? Yeah, that's it. Yeah. Yeah, so I think, you know, after late summer, they will come up with their next game. Don, what do you think their next game is? I think it's going to be a family-friendly horror movie title. And the leading rumor is Beetlejuice, and I want that to be so real. I've been wanting that there. Josh, would you buy a Beetlejuice? I don't know. I want Hellraiser. I would like to see them do another straight horror-horror, not comedy-horror. so people need to buy more TCMs because it's a little terrifying that that's not going to happen again that we're only going to get horror comedy but you know I'll take what I can get I'll probably buy every next spooky game you didn't hear that Gwen I did not say that she asked me last night she said so when Evil Dead comes are we done? oh 100% 100% yeah I mean I couldn't lie to her I said maybe I don't know let's see what happens we'll see what happens one horror movie I watched as a young young boy too young was Fred Krueger oh Nightmare on Elm Street yeah that's a good comedy right I mean come here bitch those movies I really like Fred Krueger movies could it be cool with Spooky Mate Nightmare on Elm Street I think they will make it and this is why so the Screamin' Stream when they were doing TCM the other cool thing is that Bug always does those Q&A's after the Screamin' Stream and he was talking about you know Leatherface is in the top 5 whatever horror villains of all time and I asked him who his number one was because he had like Michael Myers' three or something like that and his number one was Freddy Krueger so I'm sure he wants to make it. Yeah, absolutely. It showed up in the poll choices in their Discord and it was leading so yeah. Like Friday the 13th will probably never happen because the licensing is all over the place. Plus, you know, Jason Voorhees doesn't ever really talk. He just kind of skulks around. But like, there's so much to draw on with the Nightmare franchise, and I think the licensing is more approachable. Brady Kruger's fun, man. Hell yeah. Absolutely. Yeah, that's one that would definitely sell. Yeah. And there's so much you could do with his knife-glove mech. Can you imagine another approach to the finger from X-Men? Instead of just a finger that sends your ball backwards if the blade just come out and fire your ball back in the furnace or something, and that's how it locks. Yeah. Josh, I have some questions. Okay, shoot. This month has been crazy. I just want very fast, yes, no, hell no, heck yeah, maybe answers. Okay. So we got P3 Portal release. Are you interested in buying that game? Hell no. hell no why hell no why hell no uh i mean i just can't imagine if i i've got a so it's funny because the argument would be that i have a limited number of space right but with a limited number of space i just don't i i don't know man i i want a limited number of games that are perfect. Like, I would rather have two, you know, 9.5s than 56s. Oh, this guy lacks quality. It's all about quality. Yeah, and maybe they'll get there. I'm not saying that that machine is not a quality machine, but I think it's still limited, right? If they can figure out a way to make it. I mean, for the money and the other choices that are available, I don't see how it competes. Yeah. Yeah. Outside of a 25-pin collection. Okay, go. Next game, we got Merlin. Why would I do that? Would you buy the Merlin? No. No. No. Of course not. Hell no. What if it came in a pin pod? What? I don't even know what you're talking about. A pin pod? Yeah. Yeah, no idea. No. Fair, fair. Okay. But it costs like, how much does a Merlin cost? $10,000, right? $9,000 for the collector's one with that topper. Okay. For $9,000, you're not interested? The price is not. I mean, once again, if you're buying, you know, like, seriously, I'll probably never have more than five. So, like, the cost is not that, you know what I mean? Like, if I was buying 20, then, you know, $9,000 adds up. But I'll do this slowly, and if they have to, they cost what they cost. If they're the right theme and the game's great, they cost what they cost. Side question, could you be interested in buying a used game from the 90s, or are you only looking at the recent one? Absolutely. So I really want, because it's another game that's an actual horror game, is Bram Stoker's Dracula. I love that game. Oh, yes. But I remember you saying that, like, anybody that got that game would say it's the best game for about five days. Three weeks maximum. Yes, I remember that. The impact that game has for the first three weeks is like nothing else. You will fell in love with that game. But after three weeks, it just wears off. The sound is dope, though, right? What? The sound. it just it doesn't have that many shots it doesn't have that much thing to do the theme is awesome and that magnet that takes the ball from the right to the left is like nothing else yeah but after three weeks just wears off and thank you for watching my videos i've seen so many like really pretty well done bram stoker's dracula's though where like the play feels completely clean and they powder coat like blood dripping red on the wire forms. And somebody added an air compressor that would like blast you with air during different parts of the game. That was a TPF. It was nuts, man. And so like it's a special kind of game. I would even be interested in one for longer than three weeks. If you find it in a great condition for a fair price, do it, and let's talk a month later how you feel about it. Absolutely. Absolutely. All right. Next question. We got Medieval Madness Remake for 10. How much did it cost? Yeah. No. I mean, I played that game a decent amount at the barcade that's close to me, so no. That's the other thing with games, right? Like, I'm kind of going for it. I think I'm going to get stuff that is just not insanely super accessible to me. Okay. Fair, fair. All right. Well, what game did we get after that? we got we got dune dune the dust of fun that actually is the one that interests me you know theme yeah the theme okay i i've not seen the movies but watching um that loser kids uh video kind of made me want to want to see the film but uh the technology i mean those lights when they pulled up the play field, everything looks really solid. I don't know. Maybe it's not Dune. Maybe it's the Barrels of Fun's next game. Like just seeing what direction that company is going. Yeah. Kind of excited. All right. So it's a maybe yes. All right. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Yeah. Okay. After Dune, we got – what a great month. After Dune, we got King Kong from Stern. Yes. No. Hell no. Hell yeah, heck no, maybe How do you feel about King Kong? Would you buy one? Absolutely Oh, nice Will I buy one? Absolutely not Okay, fair enough Why and why? First, absolutely, would you buy one? Yeah, it's gonna be It's gonna be a great game I got nothing bad It's weird, man So, like, nobody in my Atmosphere Is into pinball and then all of a sudden my wife's ex-husband decides to start buying pinball machines. What? He gets his first Jaws. His first machine is Jaws. And you know, he's a nice enough guy, whatever, but he's my wife's ex-husband. So, you know. I know what you mean. You know what I mean? I know what you mean. Like we're at my stepson's lacrosse game, and he's like, hey, man, what do those beer cans mean at the end of the game? That's the match? That's the fucking match, dude. It's on every pinball machine. Oh, you know? And then literally my stepson calls my wife and I, and he's just cracking up. And he's like, he bought a King Kong already. So he bought Jaws and King Kong within like three weeks. Can you give him a link to our Patreon, please? Yeah, come on. He's trying to show. That's awesome. We'll just add another $50 for him. How about that? I mean, I think we need to make a Josh special exclusive tier, man. So is your stepson, is he, does he play pinball? He's played maybe three times. Okay, so maybe. Maybe. So he's getting it at both houses now, right? He said he's starting to get into it, so we'll see. I would love it if he did. I think they kind of think, like the kids think this is this hallowed thing and don't touch Josh's pinball machine. But, I mean, they see me beating the shit out of it and shaking me. I mean, these are commercial machines. These are not as fragile as people think they are. Yeah, I know. It's like, get in there and play it, yeah. I mean, they are on locations 13 hours a day getting beat up, man, getting beat up, those games. Yeah, I just realized my wedding ring is beating the hell out of that left button. I've been scratching it. I'm going to have to start taking it off when I play. Yeah, that's a good idea. How lucky are these kids growing up with full arcades in their homes now and not even appreciating it? Come on, kids. My daughter's 13, and she's like, oh, side-eyes pinball. I'm like, I got a Dave & Buster's downstairs, kid. What the heck do you want? Absolutely. Harry Potter's turning her head, though. All right, quick thoughts on Harry Potter. F. Mary Kill. Watch somebody else, F. All right, nice. From the closet. I can dig it. Josh, thank you for joining the show. Thank you for the amazing support, and you're always welcome to come back here, buddy. Yeah, I'd love to do it again, man. Yeah, high-level WAP supporters, you're all welcome, and this was just so much fun. So thank you, Josh. Thank you, guys. Goodbye, TCM. Later. Oh, God, get two. Yeah. Perfect. Thank you, brother. All right, thanks, you guys. Oh, that was an amazing, action-packed interview that we had with our homie. all of our top level patreon members are invited to cordially come on the show and we will have some great discussions man it's going to be awesome jagas any final words for the people as we hit our outro music oh yeah baby heck yeah hit us up at we are pinball 69 gmail.com we love all the messages come in and join patreon have some fun as you can hear we had a lot of fun with Josh Cox. And as you listen, while we were doing the show, he upped his support to $200. That was wild. Can you believe that? Unprecedented levels of support here. We are pinball.
