### Signals

- **[community_signal]** Cary Hardy, a prominent pinball content creator, has been removed as co-host of the Twippies awards due to controversial statements or actions throughout the year. This signals internal community tensions and suggests This Week in Pinball leadership is distancing from Hardy. (confidence: high) — Hardy's direct statement about being informed he will not host, combined with his speculation that his 'actions or words' throughout the year triggered the decision
- **[community_signal]** Hardy 'ruffled some feathers this year' according to his own framing, suggesting he made controversial statements or took controversial positions that are known to the community. (confidence: medium) — Hardy's opening statement: 'I have obviously ruffled some feathers this year' and later speculation about his actions/words being the cause
- **[event_signal]** 2021 Twippies production will likely be virtual again due to ongoing COVID-19 uncertainty, similar to 2020 format, with expected improvements in planning. (confidence: medium) — Hardy states: 'TPF we don't know yet but chances are high that it's not going to be happening this year again or this coming year again. So that means it's going to be virtual'
- **[personnel_signal]** Cary Hardy's role as Twippies co-host is being filled by an unknown successor; Hardy assumes it will still be produced by Emoto but with a different co-host. (confidence: medium) — Hardy states 'I assume it's still going to be Emoto, but somebody else' and 'No, I do not know who is hosting'
- **[content_signal]** Cary Hardy continues to operate his YouTube channel as a pinball content creator despite losing the Twippies hosting role and indicates his regular work schedule may conflict with major production commitments. (confidence: high) — Hardy mentions he has work early in the morning and questions whether he would have time to host Twippies even if asked due to work and COVID scheduling

## Transcript

It should come to no surprise to all of you out there if you watch my content that I have obviously ruffled some feathers this year and I'm guessing due to that I will not be hosting the Twippies this coming season. What's up guys welcome back to my channel where I talk and do everything pinball. So if that sounds interesting to you then hit that subscribe button down below. It is officially Twippy voting season and with that I have gotten a couple of messages from people asking me if I would be hosting again this coming year and I was told I wasn't told that I couldn't say anything or anything like that so I'm just going to tell everybody here and right now no I will not be hosting the 2021 Twippies. I don't know if I ever will again or anything like that. It is just simply that definitely this coming Twippies, I will not be hosting. Now, the next question is, of course, why? And it's one of those things that I was honestly expecting this and I was just kind of waiting for that message or that phone call because I knew that eventually the ball was going to have to drop and so it finally came last week when Jeff gave me a message and told me that if how can I say this in a nutshell it was simply one of those um how else can I say it you're being let go your department's being downsized you're part of an outplacement we're going in a different direction we're not picking up your option take your pick I got more but I I'm going in a different direction kind of speeches and it like okay I get it. It like well like look what I never been broken up before I got like, I think I know the reason behind all of this and it's fine. I'm honestly fine with it. It's not something that, you know, I had my heart set on or anything like that. Because honestly, guys, for those of you that do not know, the Twippies are a lot of work. It is not something that just simply gets put together and you simply just spout out some stuff or whatever. A lot of work and effort gets put into this show. And it's one of those, even the year before last, as I basically helped set up the show, it was still, in my mind, nowhere near as work intensive as it actually is. And little known fact the Twippies that you guys saw at the beginning of this year that that whole production was completely finished and uploaded to my channel merely two hours before it premiered that's how close to the skin of our teeth that Emoto was able to get that stuff edited and put together and rendered and everything to where you saw what you saw and it was one of those things that I had I was actually at work when she had the file for me and I had to remote into my PC from work to upload it to my channel it's it's a long story but anyways that it was it's a lot of work and effort so for me to be told that hey you're not going to have to do all this work and effort and everything I not hurt it like yeah I was looking forward to if possible working with Emoto again me and her become good friends and uh I thought it was going to be even better this time around due to how closer our relationship is or how I believe it to be now. Granted guys honestly this is merely speculation on my part it's one of those things that if it was actually due to my actions or words that were done throughout the year, I wouldn't expect Jeff to actually tell me anyway. So, like I said, this is just me assuming that it's definitely something that I've done or said that's made it to where I need to distance myself or whatever. Or they could honestly be going in a completely different direction with whoever is going to be hosting, of which I do not know who that's going to be yet. I assume it's still going to be Emoto, but somebody else. There's definitely no hard feelings or any kind of thing going on between me and Jeff or anything like that. It's just one of those that I'm not going to be hosting again. We're going a different direction. Words. It's like, okay, okay, I understand. No problem. And it's one of those where I don't even think I would have the time to do it. Like even if I was to be like asked if I wanted to do it again it's like a big part of me would actually kind of question if I would because I don't know if I would be able to devote that time and effort into it especially with the rise of COVID and it doesn't seem like it's going anywhere anytime soon. TPF we don't know yet but chances are high that it's not going to be happening this year again or this coming year again. So that means it's going to be virtual, which means it's going to have to put a lot of effort into the green screening or whatever method they decide to do this year. But it going to be a rinse and repeat of the same thing last year but probably a little bit better planning because it's a little more anticipated with COVID already being well known. So for me to be able to just relax and sit back and enjoy the Twippies, I am perfectly content with that. And that's what I really feel all needs to be said at this time because I just wanted to get it out to you guys because as we're getting closer to Twippies, people are going to be asking me more and more or wondering who's going to be hosting and stuff like that. So I thought I'd get this out here right now before false information starts to get spread. So let's just try to nip that in the bud right now. No, I will not be hosting this coming Twippies. No, I do not know who is hosting. And yes, I will definitely be watching it and enjoying the show. Whosoever they choose to fill the role that I was in I'm sure they will do just fine it's not like I'm a tough act to follow or anything like that so by all means I have no bad feelings or anything like that towards Jeff or the Twippy committee or anything like that it's all good with that being said I'm gonna bring this to a close because I'm gonna have to get up early in the morning for work so by all means leave me a comment down below on who you think should be the next co-host for the Twippies. Give me that thumbs up. Hit that subscribe button if you haven't already. And until next time, guys, peace out.
