night the a division is all um duels dual matches between two players very high level players as you can see I've got some players behind me it's in full swing right now I was trying to let the the field kind of uh sort of how deep is the pinball League I don't know hey Paladin how deep is a pinball League How Deep Is Your Love Is Your Love hey man who sings that the Bee Gees well let's keep it for an hour because at the beginning of these tournaments are generally like weeding out you know not I mean every everyone here is great everyone here is a great player but when you've got you know 64 great players it's hard to navigate and and get games get games streamed so we wait till the field comes down a little bit Jay bandar just put up our friend our friend JB into his house just put up all right because now uh Eric is done so I think it's on Andre and Andre actually does have to come from behind in order to advance I don't know that Andre has ever failed to advance through the first round in an a division final that would suck so much it's it I mean look he's won enough he is he has the most decorated half of all sfpd playoffs that have ever happened have been won by Andre yeah fantastic player Luke also a champion he was the champion in his rookie season I bought it I think Gabe might have been a champion in his rookie season as well or maybe it's the one right after so it's going to be a great battle this is actually their third game of the match so this is the winner take all go on to the final four uh which is going to be eligible for Hardware in the in the finals here in case anybody's just joining us or doesn't know what's going on this is the San Francisco pinball Department League finals for the spring 2023 season uh we are here in beautiful San Francisco California in the hate Ashbury district and we have some wonderful players who are going to get up and running here and there you go you see Gabe there getting underway and then they're actually mid game so this is actually game starting ball two here so you can see there Dave actually started very strong with the I think that's over 100 million oh thank you 30 million roughly for Luke on that 30 million he played Seattle and he did play his sort of main yeah uh no actually it's gonna be the next one from that there you go and yeah so the um that first ball uh I I wasn't there to see what babe had done but I saw Luke's ball he did play multiball but had a rough time he scored too much off of that or at least I'm sure he would want it more Gabe moving into the city mode deciding where to go hitting the box to the Rings the spare value it's right in the center there you can see it flashing on a tough bounce there right directly just just off that top that right [Music] bounce to the outlay should be going on to ball two for boot here we just give an update on me behind us we'll say congress still going what's going on there it does seem like he put up quite the ball Freeman the commentary could be boosted uh sure sure we can yeah well I can I can also adjust my microphone you got it Buddies you got it friend you know I always come in huh so and then in the area 51 multiball here so have you you've spent some time with the game yeah I've spent some time with it yeah I I have not seen anyone use a strategy where they're trying to go for 2x Playfield yet okay and how do you qualify that 2x is uh the the right orbit okay down into the um Morocco meter um if I have my whiteboard set up um although I don't know what to clear I'll have to bring it with the clear button is no problem I have to set up a clear button but the Rocco meter is that that that um to the right of where those flashing lights are can you describe that oh sure sure on the uh sort of right above the right slings there's a set of targets on the right side you saw the ball just go around there so that there's a Target on the front of that sort of Island right there you saw that uh it just backhanded it there right yeah but you have to you have to hit the orbit first okay so it has to go up around the right orbit and then down through the rocker meter three times I got it wow that's that's difficult the first time is three times and then you're lighting 2x Playfield all right fantastic um and by you saying that's typical I think now I know why people don't immediately go first I think it kind of just happens sure sure I mean I'm sure that there's there's you know you're a skilled player you can you can get comfortable yeah controlling the ball controlling the shot enough to to make that happen and just just give you an update I think Andre has just finished Andre's done he has two extra balls which he's gonna be plunging out here in the league we just we don't turn the extra balls off just out of need to not have to open up every game and change the settings it's an active arcade but the yeah so you just plunge it out uh you can skillfully plunge if there is a skill shot or anything like that but uh it looks like he's just gonna plunge those out and he finishes somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 million which is how in the heck do you just try hard and you win I it doesn't work for me I try hard I don't know that it's just trying I'm married I think I think Andre's got something else hi Mary good to see you you're doing it Mary's still in it yes okay fantastic you guys know where you guys love our beginners like Mary there she is and we're actually gonna wait let's love it Lord of Kimbo we're gonna keep an eye on what's going on with those other tournaments because we do want to show some of the B division C division finals as they right as we get closer to those show off some of the Fantastic play from those folks it looks like we're getting detect when the ball goes by or what's someone told me that someone in chat correct me but they are saying no we don't play extra balls here itty bitty bug yeah extra balls cannot be played they can be plunged skillfully yes you can set up the game however you like if you want to move a a light move a feature that is totally permitted but once you plunge you walk away we used to have a one flip rule which was uh which was bad well it was it was interesting it was provided some interesting outcomes and there was a time where actually technically if you activated a video mode on your one flip you were permitted to then play the video mode because you weren't flipping and that was that eventually that was changed but I thought that was pretty novel is that you could skillfully get into a video mode in order to extend and and you know potentially on certain games you know really build up an additional amount of points yeah you know fishtails being one that sticks out right yeah that's come on so many points in fishtails on the video mode um yeah anyone correct me if I'm wrong Overdrive starts at 2 million when you hold the left flipper up it increases I believe yeah so there is a you still need to hold that flipper up you still should hold that flipper up when it says hold up the left foot I used to I used to laugh because I was like oh they didn't take out the you know they didn't take out the animation for hold up the left Flipper on a pro you lazy Stern no no they're like no you have to hold the left flip there you go you stupid Manu to which I was really offended because I'm like come on Stern I'm not and then Stern said you know what I noticed how are we doing here with Gabe and Luke oh uh we got Luke and so he's got about 40 no I'm sorry 30 million to go so if he can stay alive here what's up right he's gonna have a chance let's go Luke we got a loop we got a Luke fan but yeah it looks like he's focusing on his Loops here where is he right now is he in the city uh oh that's a tough one he tries anymore he actually did do a pretty good move there to try to fix to save that but it just had a had a tough bounce on the on the back side so that's it and of the parts good to see everybody here we're gonna get on to the uh semi-final match now between Gabe and Dan so just to set up the the scene here they're gonna be playing on Wizard for game one uh classic em in our secret Juju Gallery it's a special room that has machines provided by the Pacific Pinball Museum in Alameda California uh all electromechanical machines all set to five balls uh a lot of fun uh my favorite is royal flush it's in that room uh unfortunately it was not in the a bank so I couldn't select it tonight but fantastic nonetheless so we're gonna get set up on that it should be doable it's basically the one machine that has access to the transmitter to show the game in that room it's a little difficult having it nestled in there but we're gonna make it work Manu is a magician with the entire setup here for gold watch so we're gonna get on that for their game one uh that and we may just follow them for the duration just to give you an update Andre did advance I think maybe Manu identified that so he's gonna be facing off against Rob Coley in the quarterfinal match the quarterfinal match will then feed into the semifinals with Nick Yankee who already has punched his ticket into the final four he's just waiting on the victor of the Rob Andre battle so we're gonna see how that goes we're also going to have a five through eight match so we actually uh we need to have the result of the Andre and [Music] Rob battle in order to determine who's that fourth player in there uh and then that match will be the yeah the four players who did not Advance are going to have a chance to get as high as fifth on the on the final standings for the last group we actually don't differentiate so everybody gets tied for I think I think it's uh 10th Place whatever is right in the middle uh we just have everybody tied there uh out of out of convenience so anyway uh very excited to have you all here uh we're excited to get going I think Manu is nearly ready oh yeah he's adjusting the transmitters nope there we go and I might check our Master scene here just to see if we're good and it looks like we are fantastic oh I think Monty's gonna make some slight adjustments for visibility but yeah we're gonna be on Wizard here now uh folks if you're not familiar with wizard it is uh themed around well I guess I guess not technically a license of Tommy but it does feature uh the character of Tommy essentially right there in the front the uh forgetting the lead singer of The Who Um right there in the with in the middle and it does have several references to the story and uh yeah it's very very fun game has a very cool Roger Daltrey thank you so much Laura Kimbo the display or I'm sorry the uh the feature that's really notable here is the flags so you'll see on the top right the flags are set up that you are uh trying to basically activate them and then collect them the way you activate them is either hitting the Left Bank of targets you can see there's three Targets on the left and then there's one on the right uh just next to just to the left of the special and under the flags there the white flags you see that if you hit those flags down uh what you want to do is get the ball back up into the upper Playfield into the saucer and that's then going to drop you into that alley that right alley it's gonna kick the ball down it's working it's working it's great one of the repeated one of the transmitters is flashing so I was gonna oh got it yeah we we had one moment where ours went out actually this this camera stopped uh displaying but but then it came right back yeah all right oh and let's uh update our our names yeah on there all right so Gabe getting started here with his Wizard game and uh oh yeah so I'm setting up the the context here for this battle we have uh oh it looks like actually we may have lost One camera because it looks like that's right so we'll we'll hopefully we might have to stay out of that room that's a problem okay if we can okay yeah yeah we'll uh well I presumably will follow them after after this match and then we will uh what's the easiest way to do this uh oh top yeah semi-finals now we're we're right there perfect I think you got it I think that's does that fix this though uh no it looks like a kitten I thought it was stuck actually also and just watching his body language I I was thinking that he was trying to maybe loosen the ball somehow uh maybe and sometimes we do have issues with the EM machines where uh the ball there's some kind of malformed portion of the in-lane ball will actually just gets stuck sort of floating not on the flipper and it sort of just sits in the lane and uh that occasionally happens on some of these older ones so I thought that might be an issue here um but it looks like I I'm guessing actually that uh Gabe had a pretty good one there I think we are getting the live look on his score I told him to play on because the player shouldn't sit and wait oh of course I think but but they do I mean there's no reason why they shouldn't be working right now yeah yeah I've been having trouble with the Playfield camera so I might have to swap something we'll see yeah yeah no problem and it looks like he had an extra ball so he's collecting a little extra cash there up to 36 000 points sure sure [Music] and so we'll we'll try to keep it move it along here oh and then we got the full no signal at least finally it's honest all right so now down so I keep getting distracted while I'm setting this up so Gabe of course former Champion uh former runner-up as well I think he's got a second place finish Dan is our most recent runner-up finisher uh he was a rookie last season he won our rookie of the Season award and he also I he actually eliminated me in the semi-finals of a division uh I eventually took forth Dan went on to take second against Andre uh in a pretty heated battle it ended up being a three-game sweep but it was not for lack of action it was uh pretty close the whole way down actually finished on Royal flesh that was the final game that decided the uh champion last last time around so I'm sure Dan would like a uh another bite at the Apple so to speak here to uh get back into the into the finals and and potentially to voice the ball and chain which is our large award here that we give out we we give a plaque to all of the top four finishers in each of our a b and c divisions but the ultimate champion of a division actually does receive the ball and chain uh which is a large pinball uh suspended in air on the chain that uh somebody was telling me recently it used to be a wine bottle opener of some kind they Jerry rigged this apparatus onto it and now we have our uh Stanley Cup so to speak it actually does have little chits that have the initials of all of our Champions engraved on it and sent around to actually live at the home of the champion so it's been been fantastic there we go we got some video action back going there and I'll try to indicate to Manu that we are good to go there oh and a tough bounce off the right there so that's gonna put Dan up to looks like he had 13 000. moving on now to ball three and so this is a game where uh definitely the bonus collect is going to be very important hi Hi how are you you want to get in real quick I think I think mommy was yeah he's still assisting collect is very important in this game and especially one of the flags so I was describing the flags earlier each one has a special feature and one of them is double bonus and that one I forget which number it is but it's definitely one of the most important oh yeah for sure for sure it's all about gain it up to the top as much as possible hitting that spinner and then getting those flags is there is there anything in particular about this one that you notice when you play it I noticed that when you plunge the ball and if it gets caught in the saucer and it's you know draining down the right hand side notice specifically for this machine you want to kind of give it a little nudge on the right hand side to get it to the left hand flipper because a lot of times it will drain down the center it's yeah that that feed out of the right uh once you once you've gone to the flag collect right there as we're watching it can be very dicey you don't always get a nice feed out of there yeah yeah and Dan Dan doing some good work here oh and a tough bounce he knew he knew he needed that one back he had so he had his spinner lit he did not have his double bonus the spinner lip is huge that's a hundred per spin if you have that active so he goes up to 34 000 this is ball five here Gabe at 70 roughly 70 000. and there's two other ways you get the one in the four flag if you see up top there's two rollovers uh that are lit green yes those those two will also award you the one in the four if you go over them so there you go there's the collect that's the super bumpers there that yeah up like fireworks yeah and a tough one there that center Shot is so killer I notice on this one one thing that I find very reliable is actually if you do get a feed to the left flipper and maybe it's probably not a safe move but a backhand to the spinner is actually somewhat like repeatable it's repeatable I've definitely seen a lot of players do that move because they see it's it's eat for them if they're not able to get it to the right flipper they try to backhand it from that flipper because like I said it's all about that spinner right there that exact move is what what we're talking about there that that live back flip and and didn't get a good one there I guess actually not a bad one because uh gave him an opportunity to get the the stoppage but goes for the alley pass oh and a tough bounce a rough one so the Gabe taking game one here that's gonna be 82 to 39. and uh money I think if you're willing to go see where they're gonna go next uh they might be coming back here to decide but yeah I think we can just follow this crew nice nice nice so yeah that's a good matchup Gabe versus Dan yes they're both fantastic players yeah Dan only in his second year and already uh into the final four both years final two last year he was he was the runner-up yup him and him and Andre were neck and neck yes and then uh let's see where is Andre right now he and Rob are playing oh I see Rob over there I think there think they're playing Attack From Mars no that's not in the bank I think actually Rob might just be Milling about separately oh and we're seeing the movement here so I think this is actually good to appreciate the work that Manu puts in it's actually moving the broadcast uh this is this is what's happening is it navigating with this giant apparatus through quite the Minefield was just ready ready and able did I get in I think it was maybe the day before too it was it was down to the wire I just want to know the best the best sport so yes and now now you're in is if once you're in sapd it's on it's on you as long as you just keep showing up like Donkey Kong yeah absolutely so yeah so very very happy to have you in the league here yes um yeah no it's really it's this league has only gotten more intense with time because I mean and you probably see it a lot because you're playing in a lot of the San Francisco tournaments I haven't been as active in those but yeah I mean you're seeing a good level of play go up all over I mean not only here but also teamly where teams are bringing in new players which is fantastic us out of orbit otters as seriously yeah sure yes that's my team League um that I co-captained with Justin Guevara on um we're going down to one team again next team League season We're not gonna be two very good and that that is Shannon Sweetser who's the you're one of the captains of 3x Layfield correct yeah she is the captain in my opinion oh yes yeah to the free gold watch right right absolutely absolutely yeah um yes no I got to contribute I think I think it was 3x Layfield I got to contribute to a win over the free gold watch Team the flip mode Squad uh I was I was called in because I I used to have the team the trust we still have all our merch it's fantastic we have pins uh are you ever gonna come back maybe at some point we'll see it was maybe when my kid is you know off to college you know I got 15 years oh yeah oh yeah absolutely no the the Bay has a hold on me I can't get too far away all right so we're going to game two here for Dan and Gabe and it looks like I imagine Dan was the selector here because he is playing first uh they're playing 007 yeah and so another game another newer game that I I haven't logged as much time on I know a little bit yeah is there is there anything that you're thinking about strategy wise when you step up to the game um so they got a new code not that long itude where if you hold down the left flipper and you plunge we plunge out it feeds to the left flippers now if you want to get like it lights I think like three or four different shots for shots that you can um go for but the one that the majority of the people that want to try to go for is using that upper flipper to get that uh I think that uh henchman oh right right yes that that one is a good skill shot superstar yes that's that side ramp there from from the left upper skill shot I see that right there and then you see Dan here already into his jetpack multiball right off the bat and he seems to be already logging a pretty good pretty good set of scores here that's also because that we got from from uh Stern for the jetpack multiball you're no longer have to do like I think three or four shots now for that one now I think you only have to do two oh interesting Ben likes it and the next one um starts it so it's it's a lot easier to get now oh and it's tough to help definitely definitely was putting some moves on it I I think he's a little disappointed based on his reaction and I probably did not feel that was fully Justified but he did get a warning earlier he did and he was uh he was really struggling I mean as I certainly did last time I played with that left orbit shot that goes to the upper ramp that is just such a killer shot now the what people don't a lot of people don't know about this game is like oh where's the playful multipliers like well that's the tricky part yeah the Playfield multiplier is the Bond girls oh very good from the upper left flipper ah very good okay very hard shot to get so get it great go for it because you're gonna make Bank on points but honestly if you're in tournament you just want to go for those uh multi-balls you want to go for Jetpack if you want to go for the missile I've had a couple solid games where yeah it's it's it's sort of standard in terms of pinball like you just play a multiball maybe while a mode is going and that that can often I mean you have a good multiball I mean that's true of any game but I feel like this game you can put up a respectable score pretty quickly oh yeah have they have several different ways you can go through modes on this game you could do the villains you could do the henchmen you could do Q right right because Q also has modes for you to play um and then yeah that I mean there's depending on how you want to play it all right so we have is it this is a a henchman not a not a uh a villain Professor Dent this is this got it and it looks like he's still okay he's got the main lock lit there there's a first warning so he needs to be a little careful here yeah these games are not they're not set to they're set pretty fairly I wouldn't say that tilts are too tight on these oh yeah yes yeah well I think I think it's fair yeah for for these sort of you know Gabe is hitting these ramps like oh yeah business right but he's it looks like he's not so this is not a mode where you can actually progress the jetpack no so for a lot of the so okay this mode is a traveling shop mode so the he has to basically try to just time it oh I see that the yellow shot is strafing got it got it all right good that will shoot it out he has high stakes going all right that's its mystery so he advances the spinner which is great if he wants to go for um he wants to go for that multiball because there it is there so I think he must be out of the henchman by now he is up no longer in a mode right now so that Center shot now has lit all the other that's the first jackpot that lights all these orange shots and that's seven million each let's get to one shot and I think it's going to be the jet pack surreal surreal just rated us with 10 viewers thank you surreal fantastic [Music] amazing uh and that's that is exactly uh there you go the double and that's exactly what Dan actually was failing to shoot he had that ready to go and there's out of the multiball there but fantastic he's passed damn there so Gabe so so remember folks this is a best of three rounds so Gabe wins he's on to the finals so this is a must-win game for Dan [Applause] okay so he just has to I think hit that ramp that right ramp one more time to start a villain mode is what I saw on the screen so if you repeatedly um ski jump from the from that ramp so we jump the right to knock it into the villain again and again and again ah very good all right so he just started the Argo villain okay and so this this looks like it's got the orange shots lit but it's got the flashing one down down low there we go oh yeah you're exactly right oh and he's trying to put that flipper up to maybe like help get the ball in he's got a got a ball one locked for his missile multiball it's really it's it he he's hitting everything except that shot he's getting a lot of great bounces out of the uh outlanes there too a lot of keeping that ball just away from danger oh I'm just just failing right there to get the uh the ball lock there [Music] so yeah so Lord of Kimbo asking have we talked strategy on bond we horrible on his first ball that says nothing guys right that means nothing and and I think in terms of strategy you sort of have to think about yeah what what is going to be the most sustainable way to score points you know knowing that you're going up against somebody who is liable at any time to put up you know a giant score yeah uh I believe has the GC currently on this machine puts more pressure on him more pressure put on him the more likely he's gonna be stressed to make those important shots yeah yep and the better opportunity you have of possibly winning against him not that I don't want to see Andre in the finals it's that I always root for the underdog absolutely absolutely I've seen Andre win so many times I kind of want to see yeah yeah the guy when these these these times it is exciting to see yeah other other players when they take on Andre I mean I think that's a lot of folks I mentioned earlier that you know the only person who has defeated Andre one on one in the finals is Allison O'Neal really she's the one person she's also one of the few shout out to my girl I think she's also the only player in sapd history who has won all three divisions she has a c a gonna be happening there uh I think a herb style right it's like best game format best game for the pro um we'll have A and B division playoffs yeah so if you don't make it in a you do have an opportunity to be in be the division playoffs and then we'll have a women's tournament okay fantastic of a Juniors tournament okay and we're also gonna have a early Friday match play tournament oh great yeah so if you're able to get the Friday off from work and you guys want to come up early Friday um all their pyramids are listed online website that you can go to to look at the the timetables for those but it's just a super fun time yeah because there's these camping fairgrounds right next to the gymnasiums where they will have most of all the machines and the tournaments happening yep and if sadly all the all the campground has been booked up because they they do those lots very early sure sure you can bring your own camper your own tent your own RV and if you have your own pinball machines at home you can bring them to the festival and a lot of times I know last year Gene yeah Gene X Gen X uh he did a pin golf tournament oh fantastic and they're all throughout the campgrounds oh fun fun so like each each Campground has a spot for you to try to explore the whole hole in one yes which was a lot of fun yes so just just to acknowledge we had a tilt while we were talking there we had an Andre tilt and and it was a so this does make it very interesting this makes it very interesting because it definitely I don't want Rob to get it in his head that oh my God I might actually have this but I mean it's it is Gonna Bake if he can put up big points in this ball no I'll get it he's a very reactive player right right as am I yeah so so here's here's what I'm what I'm seeing here it looks like he's still favoring the multiball strategy yeah and I and I think that yeah probably what he's thinking is what what can I do right now to just kind of bolster the the score for bird one again yeah and actually I think he should be looking at his far left I I don't even think he's noticing that pack it's a jet pack he just needs to hit was that one or two more times it's possible he just doesn't trust it jackpack I is that a three or a two ball multiball uh I think it's a three is it all right well he said I think I think it's a two I think it's okay though maybe maybe that's what I noticed before because I've I was thinking I saw a gameplay with a so he had an extra ball so he gets to try to get a couple more points in there yeah good strategy food all day right right so it I think it's gonna be interesting so if Andre already in a game three you know need to perform setting when he was on hoops uh absolutely destroyed the game at that point so I I'm thinking you know he's again in that scenario he's a great story player I I I tend to think we're going to see something special here I think so too he's wearing his Grand Champion t-shirt so [Music] certain cities that you're having your concerts in correct so there's certain strategies that people have with which cities to choose to get them to uh DC or I think is it Austin or DC um for the for for those you know Supreme modes what is your go-to strategy what cities do you like to go for ouch to get the fastest to to DC or I I've started to do Los Angeles believe it or not because it's just ramps and then uh if I can if I can do Los Angeles that means I'm closer to error 51 because I hit that ramp maybe three times true then I'm going New Orleans because New Orleans is crazy easy but you don't get a lot of value if you don't do it the right way um what about Seattle and Seattle yeah I like Seattle too but if you don't if I can't okay if I can't survive Los Angeles I'm going to play a different game because screw that game I love the game but yeah but there you have it it's supposed to be like really cool when I do that and it says loading and then I can in the background I can kind of sneak my way through is this a finals the semi-finals between Nick and Andre got it game one and then whoever wins this matchup will play Gabe in the finals all right so whoever wins playing the game Monster which Gabe I talked to him earlier and he really wants that trophy he really wants that win and a matchup between Gabe and Andre would be a fun matchup as well as Nick and Gabe this division and I saw the play before me drain and it's one of those Godly machines that doesn't clearly tell you like oh if they get an extra ball or not yeah thinking it was my turn yeah so horrible way to end the night all right we're looking at a pretty close game right now we're looking about that think about that Derek about that for the DQ for people playing someone's extra ball it should be on the player who didn't play their extra ball not the person afterwards bring it down a couple of notches Mary I still have it backwards you or me and I'm you but that's okay I'm gonna keep it that way see the names I'm very boisterous I do apologize so that's why I had it on the other side so that way I could project and you guys wouldn't have a um did Andre just lose no but Nick it's okay so beautiful thing it is all right folks if you saw that there you could see that Manu was getting in position here for our game two of the semi-final here between Mick and Andre we're going to be on Iron Man there's an Iron Man Vault Edition uh one of the most brutal games actually the game that I was eliminated on earlier tonight by Nick so excited to see what he can do here of course Andre always a threat on a game like this it'd be interesting to see what happens if Andre is able to take the win here I would imagine nick uh I haven't looked at his sheet in a little while but I imagine he might go for something that maybe has a little more variance maybe a em or maybe a solid state uh depending on his his game knowledge I I I feel like you sometimes you just feel like your chances are a little bit better with a game that introduces some of those more random factors uh rather than a game that you can feel a little bit more confident that Andre might be able to control like a modern Stern uh DMD level game so we're gonna get we're gonna get started in just a moment I see Manu making adjustments I think we could probably move the master scene over oh excuse me where you are Andy Studio mode so I'm just gonna get that ready to go let's go back to the master scene and there you go fantastic Andre and Nick and uh getting some of that shade you can see that behind there or I guess you can't see yeah I guess you can see it just in the small screen there getting the shade up to protect against the light bouncing there I didn't get the lamp but the lamp's not in the play he just nailed it but yeah he he nailed that and picked up a million for that is anybody in chat know what that was and that million it could potentially go very far million is huge oh he's not okay so fun to give out the BNC Awards um very exciting it's always exciting especially folks to get hardware for the first time that was actually my my experience last season I finally got into the top fours top four in a and finally got one of those plaques if you saw on the broadcast there these are plaques designed by Jeremy Williams one of the members long time members of the sfpd uh fantastic guy he actually is responsible for many mods two games that you might know uh the television on top of Ghostbusters and Simpsons that shows the actual show in the movie um the Tron the little Tron game if you ever played Tron and it has a little in cabinet uh uh Tron replica game that's uh sort of doing the attract mode on Loop he innovated that so fantastic work and he does these wonderful wood cut and plastic cut sort of mixed media awards that have become the standard the gold standard for uh pinball Awards in Miami mine so very excited to give those out and now we only have four more to give out because we have to get down to our a division finals here so we got our final match of the semi-finals is going to be between Nick and Andre on Wizard so we're going back to the room uh manu's doing his best to get everything set uh he's got to adjust the transmitters and whatnot so it's gonna be wonderful uh and oh yeah anarath uh close up I hope you saw that close-up of the trophies we have of the blacks we have uh from from Jeremy there uh we'll show them off one more time when we do the a division awards ceremony but yes it's it is fantastic oh my gosh really exciting to have this uh this final moving along and and you know it's 10 30 now I think likely we'll get done you know close to 11 30 I'm guessing uh you know that's sort of typical for I think the the sfpd finals we have to try to compress basically all the finals into this afternoon this evening yeah yeah oh here's Shannon come and sit I was just talking about the uh the finals here just like the the chaos of doing it on a Wednesday night it's always chaotic yeah yeah it's intense it's getting getting uh it's getting a little lonelier though everybody is getting their prizes and heading home yeah one of the benefits of how we used to run it was we used to have the ability to actually rent the shop effectively so we had the shop on a weekend yeah so we could do a day-long event and yeah everybody really stuck around toward the very end you had these big crowds kind of staying to watch yeah watch is very popular now I know right I love it yes I have people tell me all the time you know I play Pinball a lot but they go hey have you heard of this place like it's this magical place it's like by the park it's don't know it has a funny name I'm like yeah yeah for real watches yeah yeah it's our clubhouse we love it it's it's the best so yeah so uh very happy to have this it still has our our home for sfpb and uh yeah we make it work we make it work we make it work um let's see I think we might be ready oh very good looking good looks like cameras are working well so this season was fun I I really enjoyed the season yeah there were a lot of new people who came in it was a big implex yeah and our two rookie rookies that played I don't think we we filmed it but it was right two rookies played Luke Ramirez new to league and Jackie Olson noodle league and they just they made it into the A's yeah they made it through yes thick thick with thieves that's super hard to do I can't I can't imagine coming in my first season and playing that one yeah well it's crazy that has become such a trend in sfpd it's basically the new people are joining are seasoned players yeah right right we have a we have currently 43 people deep yeah um and and yeah not a lot of people like to leave anymore I think you know after we had a lot of people leave after covet and the like but I think with the uh sort of settlement of you know kind of life as it is now I think we've had a lot less attrition uh and so yeah so it's it's becoming a hot ticket and also people know if they don't held their spot you have to wait you have to wait to get back right right that's where we're at now also like I mean you don't have to wait two years I think at the highest it was two years it was yeah I think the most recently we had somebody who's almost two and a half who got in finally um yeah I I can't I can't believe it I mean I think it's I think it's really interesting that there are these players who you think would be in the league and but they just haven't they're just still waiting they're just right they're sitting in the the wings yes yes so every season is kind of interesting because you have these people come in they're not novices but you do have the novices too so people are totally who just oh yeah I saw this thing it looked cool I signed up what's gonna happen to me I mean that was my experience coming into League yeah let's see what happens now this will be interesting I wonder if that is the case where um Nick will go I'm guessing he picked the EM to give himself maybe a little bit more of uh that was what I guess Andre was my opponent right right and especially in a winner go home because there's not a lot of eye lines yeah yes yes uh we did his head with the mirrors it's just he's in his own eyes right right he's yelling at himself we actually did I think um I think Harvey had his dog nearby oh yeah yeah he said literature was dancing yeah make that dog stop dancing which that's a new one um even for Andre that was that was a fresh take um so yeah so we'll see I we we can't hear what's going on over there but I think uh you know Andre seems to be indicating yeah there might be some issue um well I don't see any uh I guess it's hard to tell looks like maybe there's a hundred points that are on the board right now and uh we can try to try to see if there's some issue that's causing a you know a scoring something like that looks like they're maybe going to put some credits in to test it Jared's on the case and Jared pinball Musical it's still in Development I've been extremely derelict in getting my script together which uh well there's a writer strike right now right right yeah that I should rely on that I should rely on that as as my justification um but the yeah so it's still you know in in process at some point I will get something together that I can you know get a reading done so yeah uh well yeah I think it's once I have it in some semblance of like a presentable form I I'll definitely do it if anybody's not familiar I wrote a sort of treatment of a musical that I then performed it's actually on YouTube you won I did it was a competition yes it was it was sort of a shark tank for musicals here in San Francisco put on by awesome theaters wonderful theater group in the Bay Area it does a lot of weird theater that's like their calling card and so it was me doing pinball the musical which I I made I made great pains to make sure it's not like Tommy it's not about playing Pinball it's about being pinball I mean honestly I I could use a second musical with pinball in it just so that people when I tell them I play Pinball don't have one thing yeah yeah I like multiple things for them I know that too that definitely I feel like that's a common gripe right of the pinballer is the oh Tommy yeah there's four things I've noticed more people they've seen the Drunk History oh yes yes so I've had friends who are like oh like the Drunk History yeah yeah yeah and then there was the recent in me film right right about the same story same story yeah but with a touching touching Edge yes I mean I haven't seen it yet so I'm really excited yeah I won't spoil it but I think it was great yeah it was great it was about more than just pinball I think Roger spoiled it when I talked to him yeah I mean it's sort of is like it's his life but it's also like about it's not so much about the game as like but they get the game right which is which I appreciate it like you can tell that they put the effort into like it's not like these weird like makeup rules or shout out weird things yeah you're like that makes no sense yes yes it does make sense yeah yeah yeah that part of the game that's wonderful it was good okay yeah I'm definitely I'm gonna check it out all right we're finally ready we're ready to get underway uh what was the uh ruling over there well we recycled the power cycled the power Jared said it's cool okay sure okay fantastic that's where we've got to we're just gonna keep an eye on it we're going real manual style old school all right so we got our two players in we got the one two in the bottom left so now getting into it so we did uh Mary and I had a chance to talk about it and there's a stuck ball right off the bat oh fun yeah that's great nothing Thrills twitch streams more than stock walls and and he's not really interested in taking any any any rut you know chance here he's got the stack ball I think he's really worried now you know generally I'm a little I'm a little willing to you know give it usually like a back hit I feel like you know the Tilt sensors tilt mechanism is usually toward the front of the machine so you can usually safely kind of give it a smack hey snap smack but like a a over here smash and uh but it looks like it excuse me yeah Nick is not interested and at this at this juncture in trying to do anything like that I think he's just gonna take a uh a judge opening the game placing it on flipper you know maybe this is a strategy he's like he's like there's gonna just be like a just micro cuts of problems right right swearing everybody down honestly I mean it's probably not unheard of that somebody you know tries to do you know like the game within the game you know he stays cool it's upset around I mean right right maybe that's it yeah so so what Jared here is going to do is opening up the uh the glass taking off the glass he's gonna collect that ball and put it on the left flipper since it's on the left hand side if you were to sort of divide the Playfield in two so that's the standard sort of ruling there uh the the player is going to hold the flipper up oh a nice view of uh Jared's hair uh so game time television uh uh Nick took Foo Fighters and the second game was Iron Man and uh Andre won that yeah so this is number three this is it yes um Nick has never has Nick ever won sfpd no no he's he's been in the league now I think maybe five seasons yeah uh and I think this is actually his first uh top four in a for sure yeah possibly possibly his first top four ever um although he's always a fantastic player so this could be big for him yeah I think I think he's I mean I mean he's he's honestly in as good of a position as you could be in a in a head-to-head best of three with Andre oh and a real rough one there so yeah so I honestly even even with that rough ball win I think he's still probably feeling like he's got a shot here Andre of course never to be counted out I'm sure he's kind of faster yeah yeah and he's I mean truly he does not I don't think anything really flaps him he's he can play every game except for dogs dancing yes yes the peripheral all right let's see no stuck ball here gets the 3 000 right off the bat so yeah that scoop at the top is what we talked about earlier the flags collect the flags by getting it uh onto that right side where you see the ball going down there and the uh the way you can reliably get there is in that saucer oh great little sort of half shots there we got a little stuttering video but it's still still moving so we'll we'll roll with it ah a tough one there so he goes up to oh wait oh we we lost the uh the DMD cam so yeah for a second I thought he played out of turn I ever thought oh my God Andre not like this not like this Audrey there it is I talked about that earlier with Mary that sort of the feed is sometimes a very reliable backhand I agree again I love that um if you can time it right though it's easy to get off your time and you just go AWOL yes yes all right looks like Nick's feeling pretty comfortable yeah unfortunately didn't get any flags on that I thought I thought he was gonna get at least one flag there there's there's a flag number two there and yeah flag number two oh yeah and flag number one is Hall of Mirrors yeah so we're just going to try to keep keep uh our our feed is sort of coming in and out so yeah a little bit uh absolutely you have to have somebody else watch this VOD within seven it up I that's what I I was the those nasty transmits I I was the first sort of uh user uh in sfpd of all the streaming stuff but yeah in particular I learned about that actually from Jack Jack danger when I got streamed with him in Chicago uh during the like uh sort of like a pro Invitational final at uh Josh Harp's house and uh it was a fantastic broadcast but that was the first time he was using those Wireless transmitters which are now standard of course and so it's like you were the who with the who's who I was I was in there it was a great I think you can still watch that broadcast if you go back into Jack's archives and I will yeah yeah it was fun it was really it was a great Final on Hoops uh where Escher took it on the bonus collect it was incredible uh very fun oh it's hot fun to watch okay so where are we at now 32 it looks like for uh Nick oh counting up 40 41. oh he had a great bonus on that one so he's up to 43 to Andre's 25 we're on ball two I'm sorry ball three here so time is is running out here for our players to really put put something up I think you know Nick is gonna feel good if you oh really and that's oh yeah Audrey had to leave the room on that one and that's exactly why I would literally walk around the block of course and this is this is exactly I think what Nick wants to see I mean that Randomness is really what's gonna oh tough one there oh my back up top he's got two flags ready if he gets a 3 000 here he's gonna be within a thousand and he's got the double he's done he's got it he could drain he's got the win oh that was and I think he's probably yeah he's just gonna let that go or he might flip it out just so just to pass him but goodness gracious Andre massinkov saying Wiley and I honestly I'm sure Nick is just sort of sort of kicking himself for missing the saucer and a few of those is if uh I mean of course Andre is liable to have a huge huge ball here but you know I think I think Nate made a good choice oh yeah he chose this game right he he did he did what he had to do I think it was the right call and you know it's Andre Mouse and coffee what are you gonna do so we got a final reason yeah and this is gonna be a rematch final actually of Andre and Gabe yes yeah and I think has Gabe's won how many times twice once once yes and we know Andre's had many points yes yeah yeah actually I think the only other uh I should double check but I think the only other person who's won twice is no actually no that's I think it's only Andre um here we can get right into uh yeah let's look at our counter here while we wait while we wait for the next one yeah so if we look through uh and this is available to the wall of fame and congratulations to Andre by the way yeah there's fantastic Andre I know it does I know we should be better about this Andre we're we are used to him winning and I think I think there's always that you want a story to tell somebody beat somebody but you know Andre there's a reason that he's our our uh our several time winner here yeah he does the work he puts in the time and when it comes down to it he often delivers when other people are sweating yep absolutely so yeah so Andre is together I I wish I had time away from work to to venture out and do more tournaments outside of the city but sadly when you don't have a car it's a lot harder yeah it's Indus is tough I heard the I'm not too familiar with the tournament format with the with the cards so how was that done so you you have a a card and you play you know X number of games four or five games or six games and you every game that you play on that card counts so you can only only play say five games and then depending on how you do in each one of those games the total of all five of those games gives you your score that you're competing with against my people okay and so you can have like four great games and then have like one terrible game where you get no points and that can like basically ruin the card so yeah it's interesting and as as the qualifying goes on you know somebody might knock down one of your scores and you have less points and it drops your whole card value it's interesting yeah so it's not like how in Lodi where it's like best of your best game or whatever and you can like pay for a certain amount of entries no it's it's I mean usually you can only get five right well you can keep buying cards oh okay but you have to play five games on that card it's like five games count whereas like other formats you're just trying to get like a best game score um and maybe like five of your top scorers count but when you have to do it all in one time it's super difficult because you have to play like perfectly consistent otherwise you know yeah so how many cards are you able to to purchase it depends on the tournament sometimes it's unlimited sometimes it's limited um yeah but it's only those five scores it's not like the more cards you like the more you can't combine anything no no no they're they're like individual entry gotcha gotcha gotcha so Andre needs this win there on Adam's Family yep Andre picks Adams all right here we go he knows this machine very well I think this was the one he won isn't the one this isn't this the one he won last season on was Adam's family I don't remember but that was an excellent move all right yeah he's uh he's being Andre extra I haven't seen a lot of like you know nobody's going for queue no one's really um I think we've seen one uh Bond James Bond mini wizard mode so it's uh it'll be interesting to see where they go I I imagine looked like Gabe was already going for uh left orbit yeah yeah [Laughter] yeah I was less than than a good idea about it did you have to play it uh no no yeah it was it all worked out I love that little U-turn that sometimes happens if you have a sort of a weak flip that goes up the the ramp kind of comes right back down the other side oh yeah it's a little scary Eric wag saying very shots he gets a nice random bounce into there pick up another one there's that one shot that makes no sense yeah that one shot with the adhesive foam on it oh is that right all right a fantastic performance there and and definitely definitely a a score to beat if uh I we know Gabe is a great player he's got a lot of work to do ahead of him now I think if I if I'm reading this game State correctly he's probably gonna go back to Jetpack yeah I think he was one I think he's one shot away okay [Music] and oh and a tough one there so he's already out of ball saved so this is this is the game here oh no and it's just an awful feed out of the pops there and that's it that's game two game three in the book so now I yeah two to one lead for Andre so Gabe gonna be coming back to the sheet to look over his options Gabe's got a lot of options he does he does he's uh now the the question is yes sort of strategically where do you like to go you go another sort of modern game where you know it's going to be maybe a dog fight maybe something that has some Randomness to go em I mean I think most people would but I think Gabe Gabe's probably just gonna try to outplay him on something that I was gonna say controllable but he's a gamer yeah yeah I don't know it would be unfortunate to go out on something random yeah here in the last game uh home ground we'll see what he does if I get I'm gonna guess that he does something modern let's see looks like he's making the choice would you what'd you pick Gabe yeah Guardians of the Galaxy so you were spot on there yeah now I did remark on you know one of Andre's most notable sort of big performances was Guardians in the 2019 pinberg yeah finals that was that was awesome a really stunning performance it was uh lightning flippers right Groot deactivated yeah and Andre like got into multiball like the fastest I've ever seen yeah I remember yeah it was awesome and and really blew it up in multiball too I think I think it was a no doubter yeah Guardians is great I uh I picked it in my round tonight and uh completely after oh no yeah Ralph what what was uh it just just bad bounces what was it yeah it was yeah the first ball I just like it was going towards the right outline and I just gave the cabinet just like a little slap and then danger danger oh God like like at the very beginning of my ball what yeah and then uh ball two I started my Groot and I just had like a Karim in the middle of the Playfield and everybody went out of the pool yeah and then yeah I couldn't get it together and uh so killer um Dan put up like 1.4 billion about two oh yes I did I think I saw yeah so I was in trouble I had a good Revenge game over a billion but yeah it doesn't really matter now if it doesn't get you closer to Hardware yeah no this uh I really I really like this Guardians it was a little tough but it's so it looks so good oh yes this is a premium yeah it's a premium and it's all it's got like uh whatchamacallits uh what are those lights oh yeah the uh yeah yeah uh it does it does look fantastic yeah and like all those like uh colored plastic protectors it's just uh beautiful yeah beautiful specimen all right well now we there he's so quick with that resp like the drop catch just putting it right back up in the groove you're seeing a lot of that that frenetic style that that Andre brings yeah it is I like it all right so into mode here looks like he goes pod there we go so he's following the conventional wisdom here mystery lit gotta be his at a ball if he you know collects that come page runs you see he he he he hadroned himself into his jackpot but I would have I usually go for um to get my multiplier and put in the balls chair you know in Chris mouth hey I said that uh let's go walk one more three ax yeah all right here we go uh 12 million super there Andre looking strong here in a potential Championship clinching match I would definitely not count Gabe out here yeah yeah one more there it is and like uh one of the uh teenagers to be able to deal with that oh and the Antiquities here gets the orb lit a rare oh almost trapped it you know Andre is in special mode all right the thing you got to be careful with here is the the magnet can't throw it out the left side oh right right coming out of the orb there oh and there he goes the right side but he gets to save yeah oh wow nice move damn all right beautiful move it's away with that let's see is that number three I think that's two two got it one more magnet [Music] we'll probably start another mode before he was going for him interesting yeah interesting yeah I would I would have expected him to maybe try to go yeah I mean he's got a lead but I mean if he would have grabbed a mode then he'd be just one away from Cherry Bomb right right so he made yeah I could see maybe the situation being such that he feels he he can build up enough to really put the pressure on yeah yeah even without you know in a head-to-head Arrangement like this he's got ready to uh put it into the orb there there's the super he's gonna get these balls back 57. hi Andre yeah this is a lot of uh ball through pressure yep [Music] okay Gabe's got his uh his crew ready I mean you can get you can get 400 million in Groot on a good Groot adrons into his final jackpot there so now he can load the orb again oh there it is nope there's first one he couldn't overcome on those last three but he's still just such a wonderful player a fantastic judge we're so happy to have in the league let's give a big round of applause to Gabe and to our champion our our defending Champion are now more than half of all finals Champion uh Andre what else is there to say other than you provide a wonderful home to the ball and chain you are the ruler of the city yet again uh and of course we're we're always so proud to see you doing it here and on the big stages around the country around the globe so congratulations to our spring 2023 Champion our every time they talk about Andre he's like oh he's a fast player he's he's just fast but I try and contend that and say no if you look at him he's he's thinking too what's your response to that he's playing fast all the time I mean I'll do stuff I'll do control stuff like dead passes and post passes and drop catches but then I tend to fire away a lot and so I mean I do and I think it's unnecessarily fast I'd have more control and time um if I slowed it down you think it's unnecessarily well it's necessary for me to play that way for me to feel right and there are a couple moments I forgot what I was playing tonight where I did slow it down and I trapped up um I can't remember what it was um it was a big Whirlwind today I think I remember James Bond James Bond I remember James Bond because you were down from Rob um and unfortunately Rob didn't know what jetpack multiball was but he played really well because it's so important yeah he had it lit too early it's actually pretty tough to hit on this one but it's a one to go for yeah yeah yeah but he put pressure on me everyone put pressure on me I think a problematic thing sometimes too is I might not play as hard until my back's against so I'll tell you back again that's dangerous as heck like how about I play an amazing ball one and and just blow it away I gotta be honest maybe I had one game like that tonight where I felt really strong about my opener and that's about it so um I don't know I should be more motivated I know Jim belzito comes from behind too and yeah um I don't know if he's the same way or he's feeling out the game ball one and two but um I do it in a different way though I really put myself in Jeopardy tonight I did it all night Toy Story I think Eric had 10 times my score going in the final Ball but I gotta start the big multiball and then also Eric um it's amazing what is going through your mind when you're like I see you walk up to the machine you're you're down and you start chatting what do you what is what's going on yeah what are you trying to figure out okay um what's my highest what's it called PPM points per minute or P yeah something um I don't know when I'm when I come up I just say okay I'm gonna lock in on certain features like on Wizard I locked in on the plunge point the fact that the right flipper was weak um and and the left flipper was strong and I remind myself of that stuff sometimes I pump myself up on other more complicated games you know like Guardians I say okay start this mode then go into Groot um right and uh well I mean that's kind of basic though for a game like Guardians like I mean you could still get there like you'd still be like all right what should I do I should just do the basic thing and get points up on the table Yeah and then and I kind of did that I started uh or with nothing else going on yeah that was the weirdest that's a typical yeah um and honestly I think on ball two with orb set up I should have because okay let's say I blow it trying to start a mode and bring it into orb I will get to start a mode on my next ball if I drain and uh so on ball two it would have been better if I did that and built up you know Gabe's so dangerous to a tons of scoring for mode tons of bonus from mode and then uh build up the Cherry Bomb yeah um I don't know what happened there sometimes I want to grab what's out there yeah yeah I wanted to build my bonus I like the fact I think that uh the mystery was on meaning I'd have an at a ball an additional at a ball right in that um again I could have stopped and thought about it it wasn't time sensitive because I didn't have a mode rolling maybe 2x scoring started before that too that might add something to do with it I'm not sure either that or I was about to pop it the the the orb rolling the orbs a second time is a double the super is all the points you got in the first or plus all the points you got in the second one I'm not sure yeah I'm not either you hit the 200 I just play it just kind of play it yeah just play it out yeah and that's that's pretty rare I must have had a lot of multiplier stuff going on and plus some of them I might have hit it off a combo um that was kind of like when it was bugging early on I remember we had San Francisco selfie league and it was kind of like the nuke thing that 24 used to have each person's orb super was bigger than the last person and it was nuts so basically if you're the last person to hit orb in one selfie League um interesting stuff so yeah some some of the rules I'm not on top of there's some change to Dr no I didn't last time I played duck no there wasn't a roving super on uh uh jetpack you know things like that oh yeah they changed it to a roving super to simulate the uh the premium jet pack because he moves around okay she had no idea why they did it I just noticed it tonight um you know a couple times I hit it right away but then when it started moving I was like what's going on I was confused a little bit but yeah I don't know what to say it's just thanks for being here because it's really exciting thank you it means a lot to everyone here you know this guy beats up on me he looks for my scores here he he and it's an honor to be in the crosshairs of Mr slamikov right now so well thanks for saying that I gotta say some of those scores are really tough really scary ones no no no no I don't see too many Duds like I'm like sometimes they're like how do you do that certain games I'd never gotten certain scores on especially the new ones and I think oh boy I better go
