News Barrels of Fun Production Update; Dune Run Complete...For Now; IPDB is Fine; New Arcade Documentary k knapparcade July 15, 2026 For a while now, Barrels of Fun has been running two different production lines at its Houston, Texas factory - one building Dune and one building Winchester Mystery House. According to a recent post by the company on Pinside, Dune production is complete...at least for now. Barrels just boxed up Dune game #675. Initially the Company stated that the game would be limited to 1,000 units, but late last year it cut off orders stating that it might run Dune again at some point if the demand was there. This leaves Winchester Mystery House as the sole game on the line at Barrels. After searching through posts made by people who have ordered the game, the latest game that I have seen delivered is #228 out of the game's sold out 525 units run. The consensus out there seems to be that Barrels next game will debut at Chicago Pinball Expo, which takes place October 14th through the October 17th. I personally think that Barrels will reveal it sooner than that. As for what it is, that's anyone's guess. I have heard murmurs that it might be a music theme, which would be a first for the company. Imagine if it was something like Beastie Boys? That's a complete dart throw of a guess on my part. Something like that would be would be epic. The rumors of the Internet Pinball Database aka IPDB's demise have been greatly exaggerated by those seeking to gain its traffic. I am happy to report that the website, which is by far the best source for information about classic pinball machines, is alive and well. It was down for a day or so, most likely as a result of a database update. It's not being updated with new games any more as far as I can tell, but if you want production numbers, year produced or any other interesting information about older pinball machines, that's the place to go. Internet Pinball Database Yesterday I mentioned here that Stern Pinball will once again attend San Diego Comic-Con this year. I recently came across an article stating that the pop-up pinball arcade that it typically runs will be at this year's show as well - specifically at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, which is right next to the San Diego Convention Center. The article mentions that Stern will have Pokémon and Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye there. No word on whether we will get so see anything new though. Stern Pinball Pop-Up Arcade Returns to San Diego Comic-Con 2026 with Pokémon, Transformers * I recently read about a new pinball documentary that is coming out soon. The film, which is titled "The Game Makers of Can Can Wonderland." The film tells the story of three friends who have kept more than one hundred classic arcade games running for a decade at the amazing St. Paul, Minnesota arcade Can Can Wonderland. The amusement center, which features indoor miniature golf, a bar, restaurant, vintage arcade games is and some seriously wild decor is located in the historic American Can Company building. I've always wanted to visit there, but I haven't made it to Minnesota in my arcade travels yet. Hopefully one of these days.
