## Analysis

Retro Ralph reviews a budget Chinese-manufactured game phone case (D10 model, ~$15-20) featuring 36 classic NES-era games via emulation. The device attaches to phone backs and includes responsive buttons, a small HD screen, and decent emulation quality for the price point, though perfect accuracy is not expected. Ralph gives it a thumbs up as a novelty retro gaming device for on-the-go play.

## Transcript

Hey guys, Retro Ralph here. Welcome back to the channel. In today's episode, I want to check this little guy out. It's about 20 bucks. You can get it for a little cheaper in some places. Let's take a look and see if it's worth it. Hey guys, Retro Ralph here. Welcome back. So today we're going to do a little unboxing of something that actually was a recommendation from a buddy on Facebook, Richie Mendez. He's like the world's friendliest troll. It's interesting. He likes me, but he trolls the crap out of me. So I don't know. Really nice guy, though. But he gave me this recommendation of this product. It's a China brand product, but it's pretty cool. It's a game phone case. So basically, it's supposed to have about 36 classic games on it, and it sits in the back of your phone. So your phone fits into this case. So kind of cool. I have no idea what to expect from this thing. so let's um let's unbox it really quick oh actually that was easy if you want here take a quick quicker look at the packaging that's the packaging um actually has original manufacturer china on it so i got the white one because it kind of looks like an nes or closer to an nes so i'm just gonna open this up here without hopefully killing myself so the reason why i'm doing this right now is because i needed a break from i'm working on a teenage mutant ninja turtles mod for an arcade one-up and I'm literally going to fight a Ninja Turtle. If a Ninja Turtle was in front of me, I would try to kick its ass right now. I mean, they seem really tough in the movies, but I'm pretty sure my anger of trying to get this thing to work right now would allow me to defeat a Ninja Turtle without question, without even any special skills. That's it. I'm just, I just saying full stop I could totally beat the crap out of a Ninja Turtle right now Anyway so let go back to Happy Land So there that what it looks like It looks pretty damn slick Let's get it out of here and before we even turn it on, let's just get an idea of the buttons. So actually, the buttons don't feel that bad. They're kind of like, it's kind of a rubbery button. I will say one thing. This thing is cheap. This thing costs less than $20. So, you know, I'm not expecting much from it, but it's kind of neat. So I'm going to see, I don't know if it gets power from, you must have to charge it. Let's see. Oh yeah, there's a charging port on it. It says it has a high definition screen. It's explosion proof. Well, that's good because, you know, when you have your phone in your pocket, you don't really want it to explode. and it's also smudge proof it says so we'll see about all that you know it doesn't doesn't feel too bad but it does feel thick so I feel like it could it could potentially add a whole lot of weight to the phone so we'll see it seems decent for you know 15 16 dollars I think they're pretty much under 20 no matter where you look at it so kind of cool I'm excited to charge it and see how this see how this thing works so stick around we'll charge it up and I'll I'll be right back. All right, guys, so let's check this thing out. So let's power it on. Ask us what language you want. I'm going to guess English is going to be good for most of us. All right, so as you can see, it's got quite a few games on it. Super Contra, Super Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, Excitebike, Galaga. Let's try some Donkey Kong real quick. I don't know how they got the licensing for this stuff, but my guess is they didn't. So sorry if the video's a little offset, it's just I'm trying to play it the best I can in front of the camera. So I'm actually standing behind the camera, believe it or not So I playing it through the camera I not actually looking at the screen so it gonna make this a little bit more difficult Shoot I can't really see. The sound isn't really exactly emulated the right way but but it plays pretty good the buttons are real responsive and for what it is for being a you know being like a $15 device it's pretty damn good all right let's try Mario Brothers sorry for the shakiness guys I mean guys honestly for the price the buttons are responsive the emulation is not perfect obviously but for 15 bucks I don't know how it would be um I just I'm blown away by how small it is and the fact that it's even halfway decent and if you just take it at face value for what this thing is, a $15 emulation device, maybe $20 with shipping, it's pretty cool, so if you wanted to, you know, have a little something on the back of your case when you're bored, and just want to pop, pop it off, and, you know, pop it out, and play with it, and it's kind of cool, oh gosh, that sounded bad, you know what I'm saying, but I think it's pretty decent, I'm gonna have to give it a thumbs up for what it is. Ah, shoot. That was a little lame. All right. But, yeah, I don't need to play any other games. It's halfway decent, guys. I played Contra earlier. Contra's really hard to play behind this camera because, keep in mind, the screen is very small I think I turned off the audio by accident I have no idea I can tell you like how how long the battery is going to last and stuff like that but um I don know we have to I have to maybe do a part two anyways guys, I think this is a pretty cool device, so I don't know if there's any settings to shut this off, I don't think there is, let's see, nope, that goes back to the game, let's see if there's like a menu yeah i don't think there is it's just the games yeah i don't think there's any way to shut that off you can you could probably mute the sound when you're in this menu if you don't want it and then hit it it just has various different sound options like you hit it it goes it's kind of like arcade arcade one up in a way it's got like three different settings it's got this one that one, it's a little bit louder, that's off, that's low, it's medium, high, off. So, nothing crazy. The reset button just resets it back to the beginning. And that's kind of it. If you're looking for what the product name is called, it looks like it's the D10, I guess is what it's called. or game phone case is what it's actually called i'll um i'll put a link to the description of it but uh but they have it for the iphone x the brand new iphones too uh so kind of cool i think they might have it for android i didn't check but i'll put the links to everything that they do have but kind of a cool device guys anyways if you have a couple bucks laying around you want to have some nostalgia type stuff on the road. It's kind of a cool little nifty device. All right, guys. If you like this video, please subscribe to the channel. Hit the notification bell so you can be informed of future videos.
