## Transcript

Welcome Welcome everyone to our latest episode during the latest season of the numbers of which I do not know. I was like, what's he going to say? Were you trying to look it up right now? We're second episode. Second episode of season four? That sounds about right. But on the board to my right, we have Mr. Kyle. Mr. Kyle, how are we feeling, buddy? I'm feeling pretty good. Yourself? I'm going to steal Zach's line here. I'm flipping fantastic. No, I'll do it. That's copyrighted, sir. I just want to get this one more day of work done. Then Easy Street after that? Yeah. And to Kyle's right, we have Mr. Flippin' Fantastic himself, Zach Angeli. Pretty good. Hanging out with my pinball pals today. Yes, yes, yes. All the good things. You got chauffeured over here tonight. I did. It just makes sense when you drive past my house. The deluxe service. And to Zach's right and to my left, Mr. Corbin Angeli. Corbin! What's up, guys? No, I'm good. I'm, you know, I'm, uh, I came, we were recording at Kyle's tonight and I, uh, I came in to a little surprise here this evening. Oh, we'll get to that. We'll get to it. I just want to say I'm good. Just, that's all I'm saying is I'm good. He has this weird little smile on his face. I don't know. And I missed it. It's making me feel a little weird right now. And on the line from Flippin' for the Cure, we have Jason. Jason, welcome to the program, buddy. Long time. Long time no see. Yeah. Thank you for having me. Yeah, absolutely. We wanted to have you on to obviously talk about your event, which we're going to get to, which we're happy to be. Did we hook up for the first or was it the second one we hooked up for? The second one. The second. So second, third, and then this will be the fourth year. All right. But we'll get to all that. So go ahead. Introduce yourself. Let us know who you are, where you're from, all of that stuff. And then we'll pepper you with some questions, friendly questions. Okay. So my name is Jason Kratzer, originally from Toledo, moved about two miles north to Michigan, been here for the last 15, well, maybe 18 years. Worked for a Ford dealer, which I know isn't the fondest of everybody there. Hey, I fixed plenty of Ford stuff, too. Somebody has to get those people their points. Remind me, I have a Ford story from last week. Oh, boy. Sorry, sir. No worries. Other than that, I've been into pinball for pretty much since I was growing up. My dad would take me to the pool hall, which shoots a pool, and then we would play some pinball after that. Let's talk about that a little bit before we get into your current stuff, because it's always interesting to me to hear what someone's early memory, like Corbin said, the roots of their pinball. So do you specifically remember a machine that was at the pool hall when your dad gave you a couple quarters? Yes. So when we were kids, kids, we occasionally wouldn't have a babysitter and had to go to the bowling alley with our parents for mom and pop night. and we got a handful of quarters and were sent to the arcade. And after a while, I figured out that I could play a little bit longer on pinball than I could Pac-Man or whatever it was. So those were the earliest memories. But then I can remember in the teens going to play shoot some pool with my dad just for recreation. the first pinball machine I encountered that was way cool was Theater of Magic. And it just stuck in my head between magnets grabbing and magic trunks spinning. And so it just stuck out in my head. And then like every struggling teenager and young college kid, you didn't have any money. so as I got older settled down with my wife had our daughter we had a pool table that was just taking up space and I told my wife Deja I was like man I really want a pinball machine and she's like there's no room I'm like what if I sell this pool table she's like do what you want so I sold that pool table it was the first New Year's Eve if we were stuck at home because we didn't have a sitter, our daughter was like two, and jumped on the old Craigslist and found a local gentleman selling pinball machines and went that day and looked. And I said, if you can have this machine to my house tonight, I will take it today. And he said, I'll have my son in the front bring it over. And our first pinball machine was Taxi. Classic, classic. and then uh from then on uh the drugs were in the veins and it's been a downward spiral of oh and i actually i got a little sick to my stomach i went to pin side the other day and i'm like i haven't owned that many machines in this brief period of time i was like oh i better pump the brakes on how many some i'm going through so they come and they go they you know they all kind to just live in your memory forever after that. It's like there are very few games I know that I've had that come through the game room where I don't have some sort of cool attached memory to, whether it's, you know, my son was a certain age or it was a game I really enjoyed or a game the wife really enjoyed. All of them tend to have, you know, those little connections and everything else. So talk to us a little. Yeah. Right. That's why Corbin keeps them all. Never sells any. So tell me a little bit or tell us a little bit about I know you're pretty ingrained into the Toledo pinball scene and then also up at Ulic pinball. How did all of that come to be? It started at Ulic when he was at his former location before he was at the mall that he is now. He was in a small bar and had, I don't know, 10 machines in there. And I happened to click on Facebook and saw that there was a pinball tournament. up there so i grabbed uh deja and piper and we went up and checked it out there was a blast and then we just started going i got my parents involved i started getting friends involved and we started going to ulix uh or beaks um they were only doing it once a month so we're we're going every month other than you know during the summer and then uh that is where i bumped into to Mr. Boucher, Dave and Logan. Dave actually bought my high speed from me, which he still has, which has been on location a couple of times where I've played. I want that game back and he won't sell it back. That's how I met Dave and Logan. Then, obviously, they started the Toledo Pinball Company. I've just been hanging around. actually became really good friends with them, you know, because the pinball community, it's kind of like, it's kind of like, you know, collecting comic books, which I do too. Like that, when you go to a Comic-Con, like it's cool because everybody's there for the same thing. Right. You know, and so like anything in pinball, when you go to anything in pinball, you know, there's always a struggle, but everybody's there for the same thing, to play pinball and have fun. So it's real easy to make some real good friends. and so we've been involved in friends with Dave and Logan and David Ulich for years and then actually tomorrow night after leaning on Dave for a while although he wanted to do it anyways I think I just pushed him over the edge I was able to get Mr. Dave and Logan to start the pinball league here in Toledo and I think we're on our fourth third season so yeah tomorrow night's league So it's nice to have an amazing portion of what you're talking about, because I'd met Dave and Logan at the Cleveland show several years ago. And then I hooked up with, you know, you like Dave and Leanne a few years ago. We just started, you know, I think I bought a couple of games from them. They bought a couple of games for me, you know, you stuff and whatnot. And it was immediately I saw that everyone up there, yourself included, like all of our values aligned with pinball in terms of, you know, we're in this for the community. We're in this to grow this. We're in, you know, we're not in this for the glory or for, you know, selfish reasons or, you know, to make a million dollars or whatever else. We need to sell this out. I don't know what you're talking about. I don't have to go to work anywhere. It's just amazing because that's what I connected with the most whenever I met all of you was just how much like you all were legitimately friends. And then at the same time, welcoming to everyone else. It's not like you had your little Toledo click and it was like, oh, if you're not from Toledo, we don't have time for you. It's like every time I see anyone from that scene at a show, whether it's Expo or Cleapin or Pin Brew or wherever, it's like I'm running into a member of the family. So it's a really cool vibe. Yeah. And luckily it keeps growing in this area, too. You know, the tournaments are getting bigger and bigger, so it just means more chance for friends. Well, let's talk about Flippin' for the Cure a little bit. Let all the listeners know what Flippin' for the Cure is, why it's important to you, and then we'll talk about the fourth annual event coming up here on March the 8th. Awesome. So, back story, my daughter has epilepsy, and she developed that around the age of five. and for anybody that knows anybody with epilepsy, which you probably do because the figures are that one in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime or have seizures. So you probably know somebody or will know somebody with it. But when she got epilepsy, I mean, it's tough to handle because it's not anything, you know, a broken arm, you know, just any general sickness. You can't really stop or control it, you know. So, you know, you have to seek out medical treatment. There's lots of testing, and then there's lots of medicines, and there's lots of trials and errors. But the hardest thing is witnessing, you know, anybody having a seizure because you can only make it safe for them, and then you can't stop it as much as you wish you could. So when my daughter got epilepsy, that was about the time that we started playing in the tournaments and that. And we noticed that we wanted to do something. We were doing a lemonade stand, which was like a national event, But, you know, you just get passerbys. And then Dave DeSlover of ULIC started doing these little one-off tournaments, whether it be for the animal hospital or Crohn's disease. And Deesha and I said, what if we did a tournament for epilepsy? What if we did that and donated, you know, the money to the Epilepsy Foundation? And Dave's like, without hesitation, he's like, let's do it. So our first one was up at that small barn, Beaks, and it was kind of thrown together as quickly as possible. The major sponsors were Stern, Jersey Jack, and Spooky, and then the rest was kind of like gift cards and stuff like that. But there is a pensider that I'll leave him anonymous that when we said we were doing an event. Sorry, sorry. No, I'm not all terrorists. You just triggered this. There's nice people on Penn State. I know there are a few. No, he wasn't. No, yeah. So he actually donated a slug fest. Wow. Oh, shit. And so that was our – Oh, wait, no. That's a really nice guy. I redact that. Yeah. So that was our first pinball machine that we had in the raffle, which was great. So then Dave moved on from Beaks, and we hooked up with Dave and Logan and started doing it at Wildside Downtown. Not that I didn't want to do it at the mall, but I did find that the more cocktails that are consumed, the looser the pocketbooks come with donations. No doubt. Direct correlation. That same fine gentleman that donated Slugfest actually donated a Gottlieb Jacks Joker Poker. Actually, Rob from 216 Pinball actually won that one that year in the bidding. And then last year, a friend donated. He had a Mr. and Mrs. Pac-Man that we used. We don't need Jeff's. But but this year will be the first year without it. But we will we will make do. Yeah, I saw the list of participants on this this year where it was pretty extensive again with Wildside Brewing Company involved. Ulex Store, Stern Pinball, Jersey Jack Pinball, Mad Pinball and a host of others. I definitely wanted to shout out if you're looking for there's a really cool line of merch for this event. T-shirts, golf towels, all kinds of fun stuff. If you go to ulexstore.com, it's U-L-E-K store.com, even if you're on the other side of the world, which as it blows my mind that we have a few listeners on the other side of the world, you can still contribute and donate by getting yourself a T-shirt or something else. And just like last year's design, this year's design is done by the great artist Johnny Kraft. Oh, nice. I've got to say, I'm obviously a fan of the last two as well, because you've had mad scientists. A version of the logo, I actually have mine on today. That was Johnny came up with the idea for the first year, and I'm like, what makes more sense than a mad scientist trying to find a cure for epilepsy? And so we stuck with that theme. So you talked a little bit about the journey that you went through of your daughter at five having these seizures and trying all the different medications and all of those things. If you can maybe give us a peek of what you've seen through her childhood. Have they made strides? Is it still a long way to go? How are we looking here? No, there's definitely been a lot of strides in the technology used to detect seizures. Like my daughter wears a watch. Her seizures are at night, but the watch is pretty much for everybody, and it can start to pick up on the seizures. So it can pick up how far in advance, like what kind of a way? Well, as they're starting, so what it does is like, let's say you're not a nighttime person and you're out running. It connects to your cell phone. And if you were to have a seizure, that watch will automatically call and pinpoint, you know, like my wife and I. Or if we're out of town, we can put whoever we want. And then it pinpoints the location where hypothetically if you're out and about. Somebody knows what's going on, where you are, and you can come help her or whatever. That's very cool. That is very cool. Very handy. Yeah. They're doing a bunch with a bunch of new experimental medicines along with just implants, too, that can help pick up and control or stop some of these seizures. Yeah, I was listening a little. Go ahead. Sorry. No, go ahead. I was going to say I listened to a little bit of your interview on Don's Pinball podcast about your event and the subject. And one of the things that I always think of whenever there are childhood illnesses or these sort of situations are it's really hard for kids to feel normal, to be able to get out there and do normal things. because without that sort of monitor, that sort of thing, you as a parent then have a very hard time sending them to camp or sending them here or there or wherever else because you don't know if those people that they're going to be with know how to handle them whenever they're having an episode. So I know you talked a little bit about up in Michigan, them doing camps and things like that, which I thought was a really cool way of some of the money going to research but then some of the money also going to these sorts of programs that help these people feel like they're just normal kids. Yeah, so our daughter went to one of the camps. She had a blast. Unfortunately, her camp was cut short. That was during the Canadian wildfires. And the camp got moved that year to just outside Chicago. And there was so much smoke there, about halfway through, unfortunately, they sent the kids home. But the thing was, there were free-to-be kids there. There was no parents. When my daughter was growing up, obviously most schools have camps if the kids go to fifth and sixth grade. What was not so fun for her was she didn't stay in the room with her other roommates. the school obviously was knowing her condition but her mother and i stay at the campground and then she would have to come back every night and stay with us and then get up in the morning and go back so um you know just things she's lost over the years it's just that stuff because you know you don't trust not trust trust is strong word you don't want to impose on a parent that hey, my daughter's going to come over for a sleepover. Hopefully you can understand if she has a seizure in the middle of the night what to do. So, you know, growing up she lost that bit of her youth of staying at a friend's house for slumber parties and stuff like that. She'd have to go about 11 o'clock, usually would pick her up, and then wake up early and take her back over in the morning when the rest of the girls were waking up. So it's crushing to see that happen, especially, you know, if you had that as a kid, you're like, yeah, I'm going to stay at my buddy's house. See you Monday, Mom, Dad. You know how fun that is. And to not have a child experience that, it's kind of rough. Well, I think he's quoting a stat earlier that, you know, one in 26 people, you know, are inflicted with this sort of, you know, the seizures and everything else, epilepsy. it's something that if you yourself don't have someone in the family, you know someone that does. So anyone out there that's listening, I'm sure they have some sort of connection to this. So let's see here. We're talking about at Wildside in downtown Toledo on March the 8th. Talk about the fundraiser itself. So it's great. Wildside has been gracious enough the last two years to let us come in and invade their space. Great beer, great food, and the best part is if you don't want to come down and play, they will donate 10% of the food and drink that day to your back. Yeah, they did last year too. We might have to go. Yeah. And so last year we decided it's been pin golf, which has been fun. It's great. Everybody loves pin golf. Get your scorecards. Doors will open at 11 for practice. Noon starts. You just ask the cards to tune in. I think Dave wants them in by four. But they used to be all in one room, all eight games. last year we convinced the owner to let us stick four of them up front and take down the stage. So it's nice. You can kind of play a little in the back, walk to the front on your way, grab a cocktail, maybe some Detroit-style pizza, go play. And then, oh, the game's in the back. Now I need another cocktail. So you go to the back, you grab another beer or a cocktail. and it opened the area up too so not everybody was trapped kind of in a smaller room. So pin golf, which is it's a great tournament for the casuals because I got a lot of friends who come down to just play to support because Dave donates the entry fees to the event. Dave and Logan do. And you can just tell a friend hey, see those scores on the back? You're not playing against these other people. Just try to get that. Have a good time. And then mark it down. So it's a great event. There's the finals. You know, Ford, it's IFPA session for you whopper chasers if you want to come down. But, yeah, it's just wild side has been gracious enough. And it's such a great atmosphere at the bar. And, you know, everybody has a great time. Stressful planning because it's close to the heart, you know. Yeah, so that'll be Saturday, March the 8th. They're at the Downtown Wildside. And then, again, if you can't visit or attend in person, you can go to ulexstore.com, U-L-E-K store.com, and you can pick up a T or since it is a pin golf tournament a cool golf towel or something else that has that awesome look on it You can also go to Go ahead Go ahead Mine is completely unrelated to this No go ahead I was going to ask about pizza Oh I like the little sauce on top So go ahead. Give the people the important information before I get us off topic. I'm going to go to pizza. So you can also go – if you guys – if they want to search out Toledo Pinball, they can go to Dave and Logan's page, and there is a link too. If you can't come, the Epilepsy Foundation has set up a donation page for those who can't make it. And it is off and running. We are currently at $3,100 donated already. Heck, yeah. That's an awesome start. Yeah, you still have a full – yeah, today's only the fourth. We have a full month to go before. And we'll make sure to repost the links for all that as well. Yeah, we'll have it posted across our socials. That way everybody can either donate, attend, or otherwise. Cool, cool. I was just going to ask, so Toledo falls under predominantly Detroit-style pizza in Toledo? I would assume. I mean, that's the closest. I guess that would make sense. Not predominantly. Wildside went with Detroit-style. Okay. But they've got, if you're a Dave Portnoy fan, we have Stubborn Brothers. Okay. Here in Toledo, which is a New York-style. I'm interested. Dave gave an 812, and it is by far one of my favorite pizzas around. It's just, yeah, it's outstanding. It's part of the information for traveling. Yeah, it's actually the only pizza my daughter will eat reheated. She won't eat any other pizza, but she will eat Stubborn Brothers reheated. We're always interested in people giving us their tips on some local non-big chain pizzas and all of that. So since we travel through Toledo, obviously, to get up to VFW and to other places, we're definitely all ears whenever people can give us some recommendations. Don't forget, when you're in Toledo, you've got to hit the hometown favorite of Tony Paco's, though. Oh, well, we – Have you listened to this podcast? Yeah, we are fully endorsed on the Tony Paco's. It was like a 25-minute conversation. Oh, yeah. We went on and on about how we went – it was me, Keith, Kyle, and Phil went in. Way back from VFW on that long day. We had a few deliveries we had to do afterwards, so we all kind of separated from the main group. And then I come to find out later that there are signed hot dog buns on the wall, which just kind of – He was looking for a wiener, and he couldn't even see past the buns. He couldn't even see past the buns. Quick funny story When I was at In college A friend of mine was from Right near the West Virginia area And he was real young He just turned 18 and was up here Staying for college And we were getting ready to go to lunch And we're like Where do you want to go Aaron? He's like my dad said I gotta go eat at that place from MASH Do you know what he's talking about? What? All right. Yeah. No. Yeah. So do you know the TV show MASH? Yes. Oh, yeah. Okay. So Jamie Farr, he always talked about Toledo. But there were like two episodes that Tony Paco's was mentioned in MASH. Interesting. I don't remember what the episode was about. They had sausage cases. They needed something for a surgery. And my memory is not doing me justice right now. And they had to have sausage cases. He made a phone call, and Tony Paco's sent in empty sausage casings so they could do whatever surgeries they needed to do. And so he said his dad told me he's got to eat at the Mash restaurant in Toledo. That's fantastic. Yeah. Well, it's been awesome having you on, Jason. Definitely feel like we got to know you a little bit more, you know, for further consideration. Yeah, excited for this event. consideration as you know uh part-time maybe full-time uh fifth member here of the crew definitely have to give him a whole nother call for that because that's yeah we i oh for sure i'm not unrecorded on that note uh i was i picked up deja from the airport last night she flew home and uh i had i put the last episode on and just casually just driving and i made sure it was like close to the part where you're talking about applicants and we're just driving uh i had her and piper and you were talking about applicants and i kind of tweaked up towards the end of one and so it's coming on just driving and i can see her head snap over real quick who are they talking about what yeah and piper's like is he talking about that's fantastic no awesome we are looking forward to the event on the 8th and hopefully this is as successful if not even more successful than past events because this is definitely a very worthy cause I do want to say that this event is only as successful as the people that help out and Mad Pinball has been by far one of the best sponsors if not the best sponsor that we've had When I contacted you, you didn't know me from anybody, and you said, I'm in, and you've been in with both feet the whole time. And my wife, my daughter, and I, the epilepsy community can't thank you enough for your help. We're definitely happy to be a part of it, and yeah, definitely cheers to that. All right, get yourself to bed. That way you can go and sling some of those Ford parts tomorrow. They're not going to fix themselves. Cars aren't going to fix themselves. Someone's got to find them on the road. Appreciate it, Jason. If we don't talk before the 8th, we'll see you then. Have a good night, bud. Yes, sir. See you. See you, guys. All right. That was Jason from Flippin' for the Cure. Did a nice 30-minute clip with us there. Definitely excited for that event. His first game was Taxi, so, I mean, that speaks. Solid first game. That speaks. I did the Python episode at work today again on Silver Ball, and then I was like, oh, I've got to go to the TopCast. I can't understand him. It was like real loud When I was working Even I had an air pod And I'm like I can't understand him No but Jason's such a good guy Definitely When I first got into Mad Pinball He was reaching out Kind of I don't want to say blindly But reaching out to You know different distributors Vendors People Yeah to see like hey Who wants to be a part of this And I mean He's persistent It's a great thing It's built into a serious event out there Absolutely Big time We should have a game for him To auction off I'm curious of the pizza situation That's what I'm thinking We might We might be able to have some conversations here off the podcast. All right. So, yeah, definitely happy to have Jason on, happy to promote the event. But let's dive into, I would say, a brief fact check. But, man, people need to stop sending so many. Like, either we make a lot of mistakes or something. I am just curious. I love it. I love the interaction with the public. But if this week, do we have any container talk? No container talk this week. Fuck. My sister did say about the only thing she said, if we do get a ship, there are a lot of very, very, very serious superstitious things that you need to do about renaming it. That's all she said. We'll talk about why she knows that. That's a very interesting piece of information. All right, I'll show Zach's sister as well. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait, just wait. Wait? Go ahead and keep talking. I'll keep talking. Are we waiting or are we talking? Just talk. Okay, so anyway, Kelsey told me. So Kelsey spent, I don't know how long. A couple years. She sailed tall ships around the Great Lakes. Wooden ships. Like the ones with the sails and that whole big shebang. That's where she met her husband. She was a pirate. She was a pirate for a while. Because this week on Container Talk. Anyway, she did say, though, that there are very serious, superstitious things that you have to do to keep it from being cursed. Okay. I don't want to curse ship. That doesn't seem good. One of the biggest things is you have to destroy anything that has the old name on it. That was one of the biggest ones she had said. I don't know. There's a whole list of them. As we get closer to getting the ship and renaming it, we will obviously touch on those. But we have a lot of other fact checks, so I just wanted to get that out there. Well, so our friend. Oh, Chris also touched on it. Yeah, longtime emailer to the program talked about. And lifelong friend. And lifelong friend talked about the ship naming. And he said that. That's a big email. Yeah, it would technically fall into the MV for motor vehicle, you know, for that sort of ship. Oh, so just hit that in DMV, they'll take care of it? Well, he said that in that sort of situation, usually you just drop the MV and you just give it a name. So it could be The Stern or The Gary Stern. So I thought that those were... The Gary. Yeah, The Gary. Just Gary. The Gary. Just Gary. What if we name it the CC Gary Stern and just says it? What does the CC stand for? Well, it's just S-E-A, S-E-A. So it's the SS Gary Stern. I mean, is there a rule? I don't know. I'm sure Chris will let us know. I'm unaware. But the other note that Chris put on, while I have you, I wanted to bring something else up. Did Corbin let a secret out you guys know at about the time of one? I don't think he said Corbin. He did specifically. One hour and 47 minutes talking about a company building a Pokemon pinball machine. It's a Pokemon. Do you have any comment on potential rumors? Yeah, I mean, I think I know as much as everybody else. There's word on the street that Pokemon could be coming down the front lines. You don't have any insider information? Got to catch them all. Yeah, my source. No, it's Pokeman. You just got to catch that dude. It's literally non-copyright. I think Jeff does a lot more Pokemon-ing than I do. I do. I'm addicted to Pokemon Go. A lot of Pokemon going in my house. Catch anything good lately? I have zero games on my phone. That doesn't surprise me. You are usually riding at about 7% battery. My phone doesn't have battery. There's a lot of gaming battery on it. I'm at 15. All right, so this is completely off topic about charging phones. is there a reason why you only charge your phone with a mobile battery pack? I've probably been wanting to ask you this for years. That mobile battery pack comes in clutch. So he can keep a steady 15% to 20% all day. But I'll be in the car with him, and he's not charging from the car. He's charging from the mobile battery pack. You have to worry what other people's charging situations are. If you're not in your car, no matter what, he's good to go. I'm just guessing. Sorry, Carson. There's a charger right there. and it'll charge your phone in like fucking 10 minutes. You just don't know, but you just know you've got to charge it. Is it going to the wall? Hmm? Is it going to the wall? It goes into a USB. And Corbin doesn't want to be tied down. He might be tied to that wall. Or are they stealing your information? They might be. I'm very... It's possible. I'm very concerned. We can talk about this later. Okay. So somewhere else... You're all right, though. I never plug it into the wall. Ever. I know. It's very... But you have to... Do you have like a solar panel for your mobile charger? So you plug your mobile charger into the solar panel? The bus. You're never on the grid? A drawer of them. A drawer of them. He just gets a new one every time. Corbin is. They don't even come charged anymore. It's real annoying. It's got to be. Someone had, when we were talking about lost shipping containers, you guys had brought up Yeti coolers and Legos and whatever else. Have you guys ever heard of this? Bro, did you say shipping container? are you guys aware of this beach in france where for 40 plus years they've been finding do you guys remember the old you know when you had a home phone there were all these different ones there was like the super bowl one that you the football one you would get from like oh i think the hamburger right the hamburger all of those different things so apparently there was a Garfield one that when you lifted the receiver, like the eyes would open up on Garfield. It's fucking creepy. So somebody lost a container of these Garfield phones like in the 80s. 40 years ago. Yeah. And they've been washing up on this beach for decades. Has anyone like, I feel like the container is like just, it's like wrecked like 200 feet offshore. Just like distracted with just enough, like a couple coming out a week. Fuck, look at all those Garfields. Has anyone found the container? So I did look up the article after that was messaged in, and they finally, within the last five years, found the container itself. Was it empty by now? It wasn't completely empty, but there were still complete phones in there. I mean, a container of these phones would be a class talk. We talk about full to the max. They're like, I'm picturing you open the doors. Yeah, it just pours out. They're in little boxes. Yeah, perfectly stacked in. Yeah, for sure. Bonkers. All right, so since we talked to Jason, I also want to bring up Dave Sousa. He did give us some information here, not only about himself and possible fifth member, but he was talking about the P3s. He is a P3 shill, owner of a P3, all of that stuff. Oh, yeah. Interesting. But he was saying that Scott Danesi designed new flipper boxes for it that use a switch to toggle between normal mode and then stage flipper mode. So you know how on a normal pinball machine. Yeah, that makes sense. So you know how on a normal P3, like the flipper boxes stick out from the cabinet. Oh, yeah, yeah. These ones are a slimmer profile that actually are like a normal pinball machine. Is this like an upgrade you get for the P3? Yeah, so you can get them actually pinball life. Oh, okay. Yeah, so from Scott. Well, you know. But, yeah, it was a pretty cool little device. I did look it up. And then on the fifth member side of it, he said that he can tell us that he does, in fact, know C++. His undergrad is in electrical engineering, so he learned it there. For work, he says he primarily codes in Python minus. He's at a zero because he said he's a P3 show. We're kind of even. But I did want to shout out, because I think I called it the Buffalo Pinball Collective on the last episode, the actual name of... It's the Buffalo Nickelhead Place, isn't it? the Nickel City Pinball. Nickel City Pinball. So definitely on the social medias, or you can hop on their website, go to the Nickel City Pinball. They need a safecracker that gives out Buffalo Head nickels. See? Right? Or they could get, you know. Then a wooden. Wooden ones. Yeah. That building looks sick, though. Oh, it looks amazing. Oh, my God. The collection in there, the building itself. We'll send them a Puny Factory. We could get them a Puny Factory up there. Our Puny Factory. I saw you found that book. I did. I was cleaning it. I'm like, oh, look at this. It should go with the pinball. Oh, obviously. Obviously, you need to stay with the pinball without a doubt. Do they have sheets of Mylar in there? Did you bring that Atari manual? No, I set the shop. I meant to grab it, but I did not. But, yeah, if you hop on the Buffalo Nickel City Pinball website, you can do annual memberships up there, or you can also do day passes for tournaments and things like that. So definitely check that out. I think for other applicants, we're just going to have to interview them one by one. on air or whatever. Yeah, I think that's really the only option. So other applicant, new applicant that we hadn't discussed yet, current, the current women's Ohio champion. Oh, she's applying to be like a full-time. I mean, at least to come on one time, I don't know, sort of thing. Krista Liam. Yeah. So obviously being a state champ puts you right there at the top of the list. Congratulations. But then also, as I watch across social media, her son Nolan, which I think might be kind of part of what got her and them into this whole pinball craziness. My original understanding of that was I thought when we first met her, I thought Nolan was into pinball. And she was just kind of – because he wasn't like – he was like 10 or 12. I don't know how old he was. But he couldn't drive himself. So she was just kind of there with him, hanging out, doing it together. But I didn't even remember her playing as much as remembering him playing. Right. Like, I remember playing against him and getting beat, but I don't, not as much as her. So, I mean, it's cool that it's turned into, she must be a natural or something. What I remember early on with Krista was she had, I think it's called like Pindingo, Pandango or something like that, to where it tracks every pinball machine you've ever played. Yeah. So she was constantly on the hunt for games she hadn't played. She was. That's right. She would ask us. Which, as we all know, you know, the more games that you play, then the harder it becomes to find the ones that you have not played. Get that itch. Yeah, definitely wanted to shout out Krista. I watched her and Nicole Turk actually for the women's play their final matches for the women's state championship. They played, went all seven, I think it was all seven games, all five games. Can you imagine playing in that state tournament? So much pressure. Too much pressure. I would just be screwing around and I feel like people would be annoyed. So much pressure. So I definitely wanted to shout her out and say, A, thanks for listening. and B, we definitely want to have you on. Maybe have Nolan on as well and we can talk some pinball because I was... I don't know, is he 13? Some of our stuff might be PG-13. Yeah, it'll have to be a... Instead of an after hours, we'll have to do like an afternoon... Afternoon hours. Keep it PG. Oh, what else do we have here? Oh, so two days ago, I get my little memories of photos. two days ago was the two year anniversary of the three of us going to Arkansas to meet Tony Barnes out there and pick up the Star Trek so he'd called me Charles Topper it was a Godzilla black and white our last one it was supposed to be Corbin but yeah he ordered that up and I thought it was kind of coincidental because then after that we ended up doing a deal to where his Rolling Stones LE came into the fold. Sounds like he's going to come in and be a regular customer. It was worth the trip. It was one of those things you're like, sometimes you just got to go talk to these people. Absolutely. Because as my pictures came up, of course, it was our trip to the bank of pinball first, where Kyle infamously ripped the lockdown bar off of TNA and started swinging it around like a madman. They couldn't understand. It was like, no, it came off, guys. No, it's not working. My pictures of the pump house and the two plumbers. The pump house was a – that was – Dude, that is like one of the best spots I've ever been to, honestly. It's so good. It was like so – it was mind-boggling. Corbin's getting there. We'll talk about that. Dude, literally, when I was looking around, like, it's like, dude, if you just had them all together, it'd be wild. Anyway. Yeah, so good times with that. I wanted to – talking about Nolan, I wanted to shout out Matt Owen. So Matt, last weekend, texted me and was like, hey, Kid Force is going to be doing this big, like, all-weekend tournament. do you mind staking me in the tournament and I'll wear the mad pinball swag and all that stuff? I'm like, yeah, absolutely. Let me send you over some cash or whatever. He goes over to Pinball Planet, wins the whole freaking monthly ISPA tournament over at Pinball Planet, beating Aaron Rich, right? Aaron Rich, number two, Jaden Rich in that, and Mark Brown. Mark Brown is just such a nice guy. Oh, Mark Brown is the best. Like literally a murderer's row of players. That's a hell of a lineup. So congratulations, Matt. If you don't already, you can always read his work over at the Kineticist. He's a regular contributor there. And then he said we'll be seeing him over at Pinbrew. Hell yeah. So Pinbrew this year for 2025 will be April 10th through the 12th. Shaping up. We will be exclusively. Spooky only. Spooky only this year. We're only doing spooky. We're only spooky. Somebody else is doing American. Yeah. All right, we'll bring the hot glue guns, and we'll keep them running. Sure, bring a 3D printer with us. Maybe. Spooky loads. We probably should. Dude, I could easily bring... It plugs last year. Yeah. Between you and Keith, you guys would... We could easily print whatever. And if anyone else needs anything else printed... Yeah, we could take requests, for sure. Can we print middle fingers and Scooby-Doos like the guy was printing last year? Sure. Hey, that guy helped us so much. He did. Well, that America's Most Haunted is at my place now, and the piece that he printed is still in the game. I mean, it was a quarter up. It was there for like two, three months. So now I want the door printed in that same filament that the three bank is printed in because I want them to match because it's such a cool look. Isn't it like a green of sorts? Yeah, it's like a glow-in-the-dark green. It's glow-in-the-dark. It's very cool. So for Pin Brew, like I said, April 10th through the 12th, we'll be representing Spooky. Anybody that's listening that's going to be attending, if you have an Alice Cooper Nightmare Castle, Zach, who should they email here? Freshpinball at gmail.com Get at us. Or Mad Pinball. CorbinorJeff at gmail.com CorbinorJeff at madpinball.com Get at us. Email the Fresh Pinball one. Get you hooked up with some beers or some show passes or something because we don't have one in the fold right now. That's the only one we're missing. Definitely would love to bring that. Oh, two things also about Pin Brew. We still have Texas, right? You still got that one? Yeah, we really haven't been trying to. I'm like, no, I've not even listed it yet. You listed it once on Facebook. Yes, sort of. Anyway. Friends only. Pine glasses. Ordered, confirmed. Yes, I confirmed the artwork today. Nice. Very, very cool. Excited to see those. But our friends in Pittsburgh will actually be supplying 20-plus arcade games at Pinbrew this year. Mike Bear and them? Yeah, so Mike Bear, Mike Huff, the Pittsburgh Arcade Collective are bringing 20-plus games. Should we take the Ferrari out? We could bring the Ferrari out. I've been itching to do something with that in the public. So we just have the spooky booth with the Ferrari in the corner. Yeah, I mean, Korman's been working hard on some arcade games. I've been, like, dabbling in arcade games lately. Yeah. I did find a... What's the difference between the Space Invader colors? Is the cabinet one deluxe and one's not or something? Blue and red? Or is one more desirable than the other? Yeah, so one's regular and one's deluxe in terms of the differences between the two. Does the one have the layover on the monitor and one not? That's cocktail. That's Tato versus Midway. Okay. Yeah. So which one's better, blue or red? Oh, I want Deluxe all day. Which one's that? I want the red. Red. Yeah. Interesting. I think I found the blue today. But the Pittsburgh Arcade Collective will be doing their, they did it over at PGX and it was a huge hit and they've done it now for their quarterly events over in Pittsburgh, a Miss Pac-Man tournament. So get your... My grandma said he could have whooped on all of them. Yeah. Got to put together, you know. And DK. A little fruit salad. And then Dave and Leanne from ULEC Pinball will be representing American this year, so they'll be bringing some product there from American. I'm sure you'll be seeing some Berrios. Yes. It possible by April the new game could possibly be at Pinbrew More details to come We have our new spooky We have Evil Dead Evil Dead will be there and then I think I copied you on my email with Morgan this morning We'll just have another one for sale. It seemed like that there is the possibility that there might be a show-exclusive Evil Dead Collector's Edition for sale at the show. I was thinking, this might be crazy. I don't know if we've got a Scooby-Doo or one of their other ones they have in stock. just a show exclusive people love the show games because did you guys hear I may or may not have shared this our buddy Jared Cook won an evil dead topper and he doesn't even have a game on the stream on the stream that's fucking crazy it was something about Ram and he gets the right band oh it's Ramstein yeah they're like oh it's some German whatever metal band he's like Ramstein they're like here's the topper yeah isn't that fantastic $1400 topper yeah that's cool but he doesn't have the game so he needs the game well there you go maybe you know a show game we'll have ours but we're not going to sell ours, so he'll have to figure. And then our friends at Cointaker will have Jersey Jack, Chicago Gaming Company, Pinball Brothers, and Dutch. And then Compulsor. Will they have an Alice, do you think? There's a good chance that they'll have an Alice. And I saw that they were the last of the parts for Big Lebowski were being built, so that means they're moving on to building Alice and then building their next rumored game. Well, they think I'll get the Alice's out before the end of the year or else people get refunds or whatever. That's right. If you get a refund, do you still get the game? I think it's one or the other. I think you're eligible for a refund or eligible to wait for your game. What kind of sucker is going to take a refund? And then Compulsive Pinball will be representing Stern, and if you've been any to the shows where Compulsive Pinball shows up, they're the ones that bring the rows of LEs, so definitely come and play the number 11s. Or come play our speakeasers. Those are going to be cool. Yeah. Nope. They'll be working. They'll be there. So this weekend... Jetsons is one that... I don't think we had Jetsons last year. We did not. No, we did not. Oh, so the update on the Jetsons is you and Zach were telling me Jetsons hadn't been out, Jetsons hadn't been out. It had been. Where did it have been, partner? I was wrong. PGX. That is correct. Where? Zach's house, PGX. Oh. That's right. I never fucking saw it anywhere. And we didn't have Ultraman last year either, did we? Nope. We had it at Cleveland, but we didn't have it at Denver. Is there any other new ones? I mean, obviously Evil Dead. We had Texas and we had Halloween. Everything else was there. TNA. Domino's was there. Spooky. Rick and Morty. Scooby. So this weekend, February 7th through the 9th, will be Pinball at the Beach. Corbin, Kyle, and myself are actually leaving Thursday night to go down there and hang out for a couple days. 80 degrees, man. Definitely excited for that. I saw the Spooky Crew was already down there. They got there yesterday. It was either today or yesterday. They got down there, and they're doing a crazy booth down there. Stern's participating. But it's an interesting show in the sense that they're limiting it to 1,000 weekend passes only. Did they even sell out yet? I think that there were still tickets available. The line just got lined a couple days ago. Yeah, as of today. So it's going to be interesting to see how that works out of just doing the weekend passes. Because I know the vision was to limit it to that many people. so that there aren't crazy long lines. I guess I need some comparison for how many people go to Expo, how many people were at Expo on Saturday or Friday. I mean, it feels like there's a ton of people, but I have no number to put. Or like at Pin Brew, how many people came through Pin Brew? Yep, I'm very curious. And I'm sure we're going to have Keith on before Pin Brew and definitely talk about it. I'd be curious. I just need a comparison to see. Is 1,000 people going to feel like a lot of people still? Is it going to feel like there's nobody here? Is it going to feel like crickets? It's like, what's the vibe going to feel like? But it seems like they're going to mean it's going to be the first Evil Dead playing. Yep, sounds like a good time. So, Kyle, let's talk about something new in your game room here. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know. So I had that Elvira for sale, right? So Elvira House of Horrors. It's gone. It's gone. And in its place is. is yeah these motherfuckers went on a little shady shady journey on the fucking champion pub that is 1997 not just not just 98 beautiful of beautiful example of a champion pub one of the cleaner ones i feel like i've touched with my hands so kyle messages me and he's like hey i've got a guy on the line that possibly wants to sell via a champion pub some cash coming my way what do you think discuss it a little bit and he's like hey i think i'm gonna go on it was like either sunday or monday yeah and then and then the guy messaged me back he's like oh i could do friday and i'm like i wanted to do friday the first in the first to begin with the whole time yeah and so i loaded uh elvira elvira opened the subaru oh and the forester in the forester so it fit and it fit you never told me that it did fit you called me and asked me if it fit and you're like i don't know probably yeah and it fit a wpc would not fit what was the difference the height or the he folded he folded up corvette he folded up corvette what 31 inches yeah so the height was three inches taller no than a modern stern yeah so not even like i guess i guess if you look at the pro but even with the profile like that the stern head is kind of it's almost uniform it's not versus like the wpc is more like a wedge yep so i'm like oh fuck so now it's like eight nine o'clock i already got the game loaded up call jeff i'm like jeff i think i had an issue can i borrow the forerunner he's like yeah that's fine like cool and that's when it was going to be sunday i'm like hey you know i can't go you go ahead and make the ride or whatever and then when it got updated the friday it was like let's load this up let's go let's get it done so we left uh relatively early got down to columbus just a friday run to columbus yeah the normal friday We were in Columbus, met the guy in a parking garage over in Dublin by Pins Mechanical. Got the games exchanged back on the road, and we were back just after lunchtime. It was a quick there and back. Kyle, so you've had a little bit of time to set up the game, kind of start to go through it. I mean, that play field looks immaculate. It's immaculate. I was eating a sandwich off it earlier before you got back. I'm snagged. Preparating roll, get a little grease on there. I had a burrito. He was keeping all the crumbs in his beard. he was making sure not to get them in the game itself. Save some for you. Come on. But, yeah, that's into the fold now. Very excited. Yeah, definitely excited to get some time. Very excited for Kyle's trade acquisition. Oh, I bet you are. Trade bait. This is trade bait for me. Oh, so while we're talking about nonsense, I do have a new segment to introduce into the Fresh Pin Mall. I love new segments. I had a new segment idea, too. You had an idea, but you didn't execute it, right? So before you introduce the segment, I want to let everyone know that this segment is sponsored by Finney's Arcade. No, no, it's not. No? It is absolutely not. I take it back. I take it all back. I mean, unless they're going to give me like three months. This segment is sponsored by Founders. See, this was going to be... It was going to be sponsored by Finney's Cream Ale, the brewski ball by unhitched i don't think so all right so what's this segment all right so i have a new segment for you guys we've been talking about this for a long time right so i decided last night we're gonna have this segment so uh it actually has something tied in with the bluetooth i think he does it absolutely needs no introduction so let's okay i'm ready i'm just gonna play it do it Hey Dave, how's it going man? Hey, what's going on pal? Hey, I just wanted to see how the Carl Weathers was up there in Buffalo Oh man, it's just been cold And today it's been a little rainy That's it That's the season second Thanks Dave Cold and rainy I love it And his call dropped That was the end of that Probably took a tower out Thanks Dave, thanks for calling in buddy Yeah, so stop by Unhitched and try the Finney's. Is it on Tapmother? Maybe. I'm going to stop by there tomorrow. I'll find out. Yeah, definitely. All right, so let's segue in now to, I wanted to talk a little bit about, as I was perusing the social medias and whatnot, people always want to talk about themes, and they buy their games based on themes. It's wild to me. Yeah, because I'm so much more of, if the gameplay is amazing, I really don't care. Oh, shoot, that's right. It could be an amazing, you know, whatever theme, and it wants to play as good. I'm My Little Pony. So I wanted to talk about two things. I'm My Little Pony, but I had some good shots. Okay. That was the unbelievable thing. So I had posted a thing on my social media, Mad Pinballs, and a few other places of rumors, and what I was doing was saying, hey, if there's a game that could get made that you're interested in, email me and let me know, and I'll put your name on the list of possible games. So just like as a random one. And this is why we have lists of people who want My Little Pony now. Yeah, yeah, My Little Pony. Who wants Blink-182? I wonder who that is. I literally had half a dozen people who commented talking about why My Little Pony should be made, how there should only be the original My Little Ponies and not the new ones. And they were segmented like, oh, no, not the new shit. Right. So I wanted to talk about licenses that were made that were fumbled, so ones that were just like this license was made but the execution of it was bad, but then also talk about games where the game itself is better than the theme. So, for example, a game that, in my opinion, is better than the theme would be The Shadow. I was literally thinking Shadow. Yeah, like it's a movie that most people have. Johnny Matic. Exactly, Johnny Matic, another one. It's a movie no one's really ever seen or appreciated. I have it on DVD if you need to borrow it. Unfortunately. I'll do it for a deal. No, no, no. Netflix, $9.99. I'll mail it to you. You have to mail it back. Does it come with a pre-stamped envelope for return? Yeah, that's fine. I feel like I've gotten all these movies for every pinball I've gotten. I'm starting this pinball movie collection that will one day be in our clubhouse or whatever. But at this time, if someone wants to borrow them, I will old-school Netflix it and mail you the DVD. Zach, what's that email? Just be prepared. If you do borrow it, we will be requiring that you watch the entire movie and you give us a full review. It's got to be a book report style. And if you watch Shadow, then you have to buy the trade in Shadow. Anyway, go on. The first one for me was Shadow. Zach said Johnny Mnemonic. Kyle, what would be a game to you that the gameplay is better than the theme? Is there something that resonates? That was number one on my list. Guaranteed. Where it's like... Look, I don't like music pins per se. Iron Maiden also, though, has nothing to do with... Foo Fighters is like a comic book slash Saturday morning cartoon I'm still waiting for them to make it Iron Maiden is the same way I really don't care about the music that much I care about it 0% but that game is just an absolute all time thing Corbin do you have an example of a game that the game is far exceeds the theme itself I don't know did you want to cheat off my list do you have a list of course I have a list those are the ones I have on my list hard body what in the hard body goes hard everything about it is perfect why are you flex safe bitch I'm gonna go no I'll go with Congo which is like in that WPC that era it's an awful movie they're just such weird in that era there were so many like random we've talked about movies that the themes I think they got these licenses before they saw the movies right and that's part of the problem it came out with the script we've talked to John Boyer about it. Right. What was the one where they called and were like, can we change it? Wasn't that Shadow? It might have been Shadow, I think, wasn't it? Or Johnny. Or Johnny. One of the two, it was like, where they called and they're like, can we get out of this? Is there any way? Like, whatever was that Jurassic Park Lost World or whatever? And it has like the egg thing that's not in the movie. It was in the original script. The glove is the same way. The topper from Adam's family, we talked about. Change the Carl Weathers, yeah. You can do whatever you want with Adam's family, and it doesn't. so one of my it's so good though all time 10 year old corbin's just shopping right sick days one of my all-time favorite ones that i think that the game outkicks the coverage is have you guys ever played bally frontier yeah it has the cricket noises it doesn't have weird noises has weird noises and it has like a man i've never bare chested no shirt on man in the middle of the play field fighting a bear it's not just some man isn't that like someone specific see oh i know what you're talking about yeah to me it looks like kenny rogers yeah isn't it like i was just gonna say kenny rogers i'm like i feel stupid if i say kenny rogers i cody and i whenever we first ran into that at kickback cafe in pittsburgh i was like this is the kenny rogers pen kenny rogers is bare chested it was like kenny rogers or something so it's not i mean as a 40 year old man you know what that uh that usually reminds me of though that game specifically is the scene in Super Troubles with Bearfucker. Attention! Big Bear! Do you need assistance? Yeah. But Kyle and I are very close in age. I remember Kenny Rogers having not only actor, he was in movies and TV shows. He had a chicken joint called Kenny Rogers Roasters. Side photo episode? He had a clothing line. He was just a man amongst the people. So I'd like to think he also had a pinball machine. Maybe not quite as officially so why not the sounds on that one just so bizarre all right so let's talk about then maybe um a game where amazing license but the gameplay lacks led zeppelin there we go 100% led zeppelin that was at the top of my list too led zeppelin is number two on my list what's number one so number one on my list kyle should be of no surprise to you is toy story four because I only ever played it once with a straw. I don't know. Maybe I'm tainted because the gameplay is whatever for me on that game. But the way it earns, I'm like, it's fine. That's the thing. I think the gameplay on it is good. Zeppelin missed it and it doesn't earn either. That's a double miss. I still will keep the game. I don't know. There was a lot of sterns from that era where i just none of them did it for me for a while modern sterns yeah yeah anyway well another stern on my list was stern nfl so that's the re the reskin of uh striker extreme soccer whatever it's literally the exact same game except they changed it it's like um grand prix for in nascar like they could have done a way cooler indycar one first like oh let's just Imagine if they made an NFL game now. People would go bonkers for that. Did they do an NBA one in that same time era? And it's also as garbage. It's like those are two un... Uncomprehendable licenses. To have those licenses and they just did nothing with them. And how many of those NFLs or NBAs did they make? What is it? A 1,200 count game? I thought NFL was like 400. 400. And NBA, I was told. Today, if they only made 400 of them, they'd sell them for 20 grand each. Yeah, 400, 20,000 each, they'd sell them out. Because you'd do 10 of each team or something. I don't know how many teams there are. I don't know nothing about sports ball. Well, it's funny with the NFL ones, the difference of the – because there are different teams. Wasn't there also teams like you could have gotten? Like if we wanted a Cleveland Browns, a Cincinnati Bengals, a Chicago Bears. Look at you. Is that football? No, that's football. That's foosballs, man. Hey, I won my fantasy league this year, guys. Champion! Tacoed it the whole way. But literally the only difference between teams on that game was the Translight itself. But you'll get people who are like, I have to have a Pittsburgh Steelers one. Was the... Here's a Translight, buddy. They had plastic sets or anything? The plastics were the same. Everything was the same. Literally a Translight. So the cabinet itself is literally just the big NFL logo and then all of the teams. And then the only difference was your Translight was specific to that. They didn't have different plastics there? Not that I'm aware of. I did hear you could switch. I think we're going to get fact-checked on that. I don't know. There's one at Domino's. I'm going to find one, and then I'm going to switch the Playboy plastics into it. Because remember how there's multiple sets of those. Oh, they are. But the NBA one, I was told when Stern, from someone, and this may or may not be true, that those were supposed to all be exported. Which is the craziest thing, too. And all these other places. Well, I was starting like, we're going to make an American football game, and we're going to send it to Europe. They're going to love it. That's kind of crazy. No, they're not. So here's one, a fumbled license, Corbin, that I think will be a little bit close to your heart. Popeye saves the earth. Dude, it's on my list. Literally on my list. Yeah. And I'm going to bring Popeye home. It should be like two grand by now, right? Do you guess what it's worth? Yeah. Dude, because it's Python. What did I pay? It's Python, so it should be great. I think I paid like... It should be solid. It was solid if I finished the Popeye. I'm going to announce it to the world that I'm bringing Popeye home. I might do it tomorrow. Oh, you want to help me carry it in tomorrow morning? That cop picked up that shit. You already owned one. Dude, he ain't shown up until like 3 o'clock. Have you always owned one? I've had one for a long time. It's been over at Lake Heights since I've known him. I'm going to bring it home. I currently have 1, 2, 3 I have 3 spots in the actual designated pinball space plus another 3 in the living room. So that's six spots in my house right now. Oh, at home. Yeah. What's happened is all of these games that normally would go into his house are in the showroom space right now. Or Finney's. Or Finney's. And I was on a real, like, essential moves only because the Carl Weathers sucked and we had to get Finney's set. And the lift gate was down. And the lift gate was down. And the trailer brake lights were out. I was saying your truck was having a good time. Yeah, but no. But Popeye Saves the Earth is such a bizarre one. You'd think Python game, it's going to be great. I'm going to put those art blades in. Popeye should be great. I think once the art blades you got me go in it, I think it's going to turn it around. So be ready. But it's like it's not even. Once it's done, it's also coming to your house. It's definitely from overseas. When I was ordering the cabinet stuff for truck stop, the guy was like. Same guy. Isn't that a retro refurb guy? Something like that. He's like, hey, you're already paying for shipping. Do you want some art blades? I'm like, oh, what do you have? He's like, Popeye saves the earth. I'm like, I'll take it. He's like, I've been trying to move these forever. They're $8. Yeah, he's like, I'll pay you to take that. He's giving you a favor, buddy. He's giving you $8. What is the motivation of that game? Like, you're trying to collect these animals to put on a ship? Something like that, dude. Is this Noah's Ark rebranded to Popeye? I'm very... That makes sense, though. Are you trying to get them back into the zoo? Dude, Python... I feel like if you were inside Python's brain, he might have thought he was saving the Earth. He might have been. I'm going to bring it back to life. You put your head inside of a bubble. And the pinball goes around your nose. When was the last time... And the peppers are at your face. It'd be just fine. When was the last time we were anywhere and we saw Popeye Saves the Earth? Never. They don't even have it at VFW. There used to be one at Madcap. Madcap's got one. Madcorp had one? Yeah. I think I played one once at Cleapin. It's such a blah game. I'm curious to see, though, if we put it in a high-traffic location. People are going to walk in. Are they played? Dude, the Randos might play it. But do people... I guess, is the younger generation is not going to know about Popeye? There's no current Popeye tie-ins. Half-cocked 60-year-old lady will play that. For sure. Or maybe the other thing. Is the Lakeview the target market? Like the good pinball players. Like, oh, I never see this. I want to play it. Someone like Krista, who's trying to fill out their list of games It wasn't on her list. She had a list of games she wanted and Popeye wasn't on that list. She's played that. I don't know. I'm going to put it out and see because I'm curious. It can't do any worse than The Shadow. I think The Shadow is a great game. And you see the pain in that game. I was very disappointed. It doesn't, I mean, we're keeping it, obviously, but it's like, it's just disappointing for the game. We're up at quarter up. Corbin's working on Jaws. That's 20 years ago, Kyle. I'm wiping down playfields and I'm, you know, peeking at cash pans as I'm going through. And then I get to Shadow and I'm like, holy cow, like there's nothing in here. What is going on? And that thing even has three coin shoots and they all work. Come on. Out of control. other fumbled license for me would be gottlieb super mario bros that was on actually that yeah dude that was the one i couldn't remember from when i was walking this morning yeah that's definitely one yeah absolutely not a great game i mean i could play for hours yeah you could that was that was that the two plumbers two plumbers corbin was put a quarter in he was in there for that would be one another one though that as far as like the game is it's not great wasted license no but no you think on location do you think it would earn you think it would i don't have one i would i think it would earn but i think it would earn i think you gotta put bally williams flippers on it or do the coin stop trick or whatever do something to juice it up a little bit no just make it not those fucking system three flippers i bet you if you put a super mario bros at finney's it would out earn every other pinball machine there every other game there there's some good games down there every other pinball every other pinball really fine let's We need to find one. Put it out there. It's on the rumor list that there's a possible one coming from a very prominent manufacturer. So should we get one of the Gottlieb ones now, or is the price going to drop when the other one comes out? I feel like the price drops when the other one comes out. If a better one comes out. That's what's happened with Metallica. People have been seeing a whole lot of Ghostbusters hitting the market all of a sudden for some bizarre reason. and those are all for sale right now. I'll put a Slender Post in there. You really think that the Super Mario Bros. would out-earn everything else down there? Pinball, yes. It's a bold statement. That is a very bold statement. Every casual knows that theme. Every kid, every 40-year-old, even people my dad's age played Mario Bros. Don't I have anything else down there that would be like a real random walk-up game for people? Maybe not. I mean, there are amazing games down there. Don't get me wrong. Interesting. I think it's on par with Woz. Everyone knows Wizard of Oz That true dude Do you guys have any others that are your fumbled licenses or better than the theme I have one It not like a completely fumbled license but no one done an excellent version of it There's a bunch of versions of it out there. Star Wars. We're hitting that rumor list again. That rumor list. Dude, I'm just saying there's lots out there. What, you don't like Mando? So if all the Star Wars are Star Wars adjacent, that includes Mandalorian. You can count Mando in there, sure. Episode one, all those. Which ones would you guys say, though, is your top one that you feel like hits it the best? So, Data East, number one. Zach saying Data East is his favorite. And then George Gomez, Stern, number two. The home pin? No, no, no, no. Oh, that's Steve Ritchie. Steve Ritchie, I meant. Sorry, not George. Sorry. Don't throw George under the bus like that. Sorry, George, sorry. So, yeah, Stern, number two. And then episode one, number three. Okay. And then further down the line from there. So, what's your favorite of the Star Wars, Corbin? For me, I think the one that feels like the most, in my mind, what I would picture as classic Star Wars would be the Data East one, too. Okay. Because it has the Death Star. It has the R2-D2 on the play field. It has C-3PO right down there in the middle of the play field. There's X-Wings. There's TIE Fighters that you're hitting. I feel like of all of them. Shootin' Stormtroopers. Shootin' Storm. Shoot the Death Star. That's real German Nazi. I feel like theming and integration that one the most, gameplay-wise, it's very repeatable. Very. But I don't know. I think that would be the one that I feel like is the closest to being a true star. I mean, I guess the Stern one's not bad, the modern Stern one. I don't have a whole lot. Because you get to shoot TIE fighters in that one. Yeah. I just don't have a whole lot of time on it, I guess, as a person. The Hyperloop is cool. Yeah. The comic book artwork is pretty sweet. So if someone is looking... I do keep saying that. He wants me to open one of these. I do. Email Corbin at MadPinball.com. We just have one. We have one left, and that baby is in the vault. If no one buys it, I might open it. He will. He's been threatening. I'm going to open it. I haven't bought something for a long time. You don't have one, do you? We do. Not a comic book. It's a regular. All right, Kyle, what's your top version of Star Wars? I'm going to go with Hankin. Yes, me too. The fucking... Yes. The fucking... Empire Strikes Back. Empire Strikes Back, yeah. Have you ever played one? Yeah, I have. The game is awful, but it looks fucking cool. It does look really cool. There's one at Pinball PA. There's one at Pastimes. And there's one at a random spot because Keith, Nezzy's Prince, was down in one of the Carolinas and ran into one, too. Is that same place that had the Big Bang Bar? I think so. Yeah. I'm looking for that. Flippers? I think it might have been Flippers. Like, Indiana Jones, Pinball Adventure, Star Wars, you know? Yes. Yeah. I mean, the Pinball Adventure, that nails Indiana Jones. Everything about it feels like you're looking for the Star Wars on that level. Yeah. Okay, so here's the thing you're missing. Indiana Jones was done by Williams. Did Williams ever do a Star Wars? No. I guess Bally did Episode I, but they didn't do... Yeah, but that's all 2000. That's a completely different segment. Yeah. So if they would have done a Star Wars, it probably would have... You got the idol. You got the Path of Adventure up there. Airplanes. Yes. Because Stern did do an Indiana Jones pinball machine. Right. I wouldn't mind one of those. It's fun. It's all right. People hate on it, but I always have fun whenever I play one. I think it's a cool feature, too. There's like a six-ball multiple or something. It's an Orman. Is it an Orman? No. I'm pretty sure it's an Orman. Is it? Yeah. I had it in my mind it was a Borg. No. I always play one at Ready Player in Denver. There's always not Ready Player. It was just, what's the one? One Up. One Up, yeah. Yeah, he had one there for a minute, and I think there was two or three times I visited it. I played the heck out of one at Ground Control when I was out in Portland and had a good It's not a bad game. I think the value on it is low right now, too, so we should find one now. Where is it? Eastward from here. No, it is Borg. I thought that was during the era that Borg was the only in-house designer. I think Borg is a sleeper who has a lot more. I remember a couple episodes ago when we were talking about Eddie, and we talked about how many games he had and Pat Lauer had, and how both counselors. Borg has way more. Borg, though, is a machine. Yes, literally. He is a Borg. He is a Borg. He is part of the Borg collective. No, Star Wars, I think, is a great call of, like, they've done it many times. Many times. And there are... That's why I'm saying the handgun. It's good. It's good. I literally don't care about Star Wars or that, any of those games. Like, nothing of it is like, oh, I would need this. Another, along the same lines, I feel like both Harley Davidson... I'm a Star Trek guy. Dude, some of them are going to be in the Trekkies and they're going to be in Star Wars. Yeah, that's fine. Yeah. That's a banger of a license and not a game. Harley Davidson's another one that I feel like both times have been there. Dude, that's a real good one. Yeah. The Sega slash Stern one is kind of a snooze fest. The Bally one is. The Bally one was like when they were trying to do it as a street level game. That was supposed to be very simple. I mean, it's not a bad game, but it's just very basic. It is for that era. Yeah, the Stern one's fine. It has Sega because they came out with Sega. They came out with Stern, whatever they were. But, I mean, the Harley lifting up is kind of cool. It is cool. I don't think it has very much else going on other than that. That was back in the era of like you get one Mac. This is it. Are both my hands up? I remember unboxing that, though. Yeah. I think ours is a Sega I did look at. Yeah, it is a Sega we looked. I'm sure those earned, though, because Harley Davis and people usually are pretty hardcore about that stuff. I don't know if they cross over with the pinball. Okay, fair enough. Mine don't do great. They're both in right now. It wasn't called Suzuki, was it? Yamaha? CB. Kyle, do you have any other fumbled licenses or better than the theme titles? I didn't even think about it the other way. that's throwing me now yeah yeah so for me talking about my game room talking about well talking about the two plumbers one of the games in there that i thought man was better than the theme i mean halloween's got to be the ultimate fucking fumbled license like dolly parton i think dolly parton is a great game it's slept on because it's a female country music artist which one are you saying everybody else better i think that the game is better than the theme people sleep on it People love Dolly. Do they? I think people... The fact that the Electric Bat says that Dolly Parton regularly is in one of their top earning tiers or whatever, that tells you that the randos just walk up. And Dolly's on people's license plates. She sends books to kids. She has her own brownies now. Everybody knows Dolly. Dude, don't get me wrong. She had her own amusement park. There used to be a Benjamin Moore store in Salem. It's a Dolly Parton outreach center now. That bitch is fucking legit. She doesn't mess around. We need to get the Dollywood. Love her. Max and Ollie got our books for the longest time. I'm a Ted Nugent. That's like the same as Dolly, right? No, it's not the same as Dolly. The exact opposite. Another game that I had on my fumbled license, and then it was redeemed, was Gottlieb James Bond to me as an absolute turd. That popped in my mind, but then I'm like, well, then the other James Bonds are better. But then the stern James Bond, George, thank you, totally is redeemed by being a really good game. And the 60th is good, too. And the Sega James Bond. I was re-listening to Silver Ball today, and Stern James Bond was the first play field with four colors on it. Really? Really. Yeah. It was like the three-color play field. The Goldfinger or Goldeneye. Goldeneye one. Interesting. It was, or maybe it wasn't the first one, but it took like 30 years for them to do it again. Yeah. It was very interesting. The art on that, when you had some time with it because you tore that one down How much did we sell that one for? Not enough There's so many games It's amazing that we sell any games It really is Between the four of us, it's amazing anything ever gets sold They're all repeats Three trade-ins? We already have them They can go Move on Game better than the theme Roller games I love some roller games And for some reason, like on the back glass, you have mug root beer and GamePro magazine. License, license, license. Yeah, all these throwback things. That's a pretty, that one's slice. Cold slice. Or the, you know, the iconic call out on there, go for the wall. Like all of that stuff to me. Do roller games still go like reasonable? Oh, yeah. That's a couple. $2,500. Yeah, $2,000, $2,500. I feel like I'd give like $500. You would give $500 for a lot of games. I mean, yeah. But yeah, I think that game, and I didn't realize that was based on, like, Roller Games itself was a license. It wasn't just like a random Roller Games thing. There was like a television show or something at the time. But that was a game that early on. It has good colors to it, too. Yeah, whenever I was looking for a first game or an early on game, Roller Games was always on my list. Was Star Trek? Oh, no, you didn't. Strange Science. Strange Science, baby. Oh, no, you had a Gottlieb for Solar Ride. I did, I did have it. Did you know they made EMs of Solar Ride? Did not. So I was just literally going down to the side. If you want my Solstice one, you can borrow it if you would like. Yeah, I think I'm good. With next gen. That game's not great. As I'm just scrolling through making this list, I'm looking at every game that's been made in the last 15 years. It must have been really lopsided. Was it mostly digital? Oh, it was like 400 EMs or something. It was a very small number. I had no idea. I'd like to find a couple more. I had a line on a Mata Hari EM during COVID. It's cool to have both. I just like the Knight Rider that we have both of. Evil Knievel. It's just kind of cool to see them both together. Yeah, without a doubt. And then also on my list of better than the theme is Dialed In. I think a lot of people would say Dialed In is better than the game itself. Dialed In is a great game. It's a weird theme. And the fact that they just went unlicensed because that was their second game, right? Correct. No, Hobbit was second. This was third. Third, yeah. First Pat Lauer that they did, though. Yeah. I don't know. The fact that it is a good game. Somebody made the comparison the other day, and they said it's a disaster game, and then almost like if it was a license, if they would have done it as like SimCity or something, it would be really cool. I could see that, yeah. And then, you know, hey, the tornado comes in. I could see SimCity people going crazy over it. Yeah. So it's interesting. The next time we see Jack or somebody, we'll need to ask, like, was this originally going to be a license? Oh, you mean this weekend? Will they be down there? Who? Jersey Jack? Yes. I don't remember. They're down there? I think so. I don't know. I think at least Eric was out there. And then I had two more fumbled licenses. Spy Hunter, I thought, was a fumbled license. Oh, they were Space Invaders. Was that the other one you were going to say? Space Invaders wasn't on my list, but you're not wrong. Both of those feel like they just were riding off the arcade games. And both are games that, because of the theme, I would consider getting one if it was the right deal. Oh, without a doubt. Do you think they would earn? Spy Hunter? Absolutely not. You don't think? Not Spy Hunter, but Space Invaders. I feel like Space Invaders would. It has the iconic sounds. People love that shit. Yes. And the guy out in Belleville had both of those in addition to a Jaws premium. They both need boards. They all do. And the issue with both was... Want to see a listener? No. They needed credits. Essentially. No credits. My final fumbled license... You say that, but there's other people who we thought didn't listen to that, too. That's true. Queen. The Pinball Brothers Queen. Oh, dude, 100%. I thought that was a huge fumbled license. Queen, to me, is iconic. I guess if you were going down that route, you could say most of Pinball Brothers. But what do we expect from ABBA? Alien I love. I think Alien is really good. You need to get some time on it. I can't trust it. Well, yeah, obviously. Because it's got 44s in the coin door. No, it doesn't bother me. I thought I love it as a wide body. I love the mechs on it. I do need some time on it. There's a lot of good stuff going on in that game. There's just never been a Pinball Brothers game that has come out where I was like, you've got to have this. Somebody was asking me about Funhaus. Because Pedretti and Pinball Bros are basically one and the same. What do you think of the Funhaus remakes? I'm like, I touch it and I flip it. And it just feels inferior to me. I think didn't Nap do a poll for Pedretti of what their next one's going to be? I heard about the poll, but I didn't look at it. People were talking about Tales of the Arabian Night. I think that was maybe the top one that people were wanting. Not my problem. No. Yeah, since you've had one in your, you know, it's up and going. I love that game. We need to get Circus back. I do. We're going to see. I was going to call Rob, but we're going to see him this week, so we'll talk to him down there. Figure that out. Did you see their other shirt that we haven't gotten yet? Their other shirt? The brawler one? I didn't even have a shirt. I didn't even get a hat. I was just thinking that, Kyle. Hats are out. Son of a bitch. I'm calling you out, Robin. It's like the dude with the flipper arms and the two of them fighting. I don't like that. Send some back. I have a mock-up that I did for a collab with them where it's the Mad Pinball logo and their logo. Let's talk when we're down there. Because I want to talk to them about keychains, too. Yeah, since they have the plastic cutter. and fixing for sure alright Kyle any final fumbled themes or better than better than the theme fumbled theme Halloween for sure really? I don't know I have such love for that but I think it's just because I went and picked it up it's the whole tied together not fumbled theme but not a good game fucking Ultraman it's the same game and they're not good I'm sorry Kill the theme. I just don't like either one. Zach, any games where you think they I got one for you guys. What theme in pinball went perfectly together? That's a fantastic question. That's a whole other episode. I got a quick one though. Blackwater 500. No, 100, sorry. Tied together perfectly. Motorcycle, the whole pinball theme. Perfect. Why are we talking about games? Norman doesn't mess around. No, he doesn't. No, I think Blackwater's a great example, but I think an idea for another episode is perfect theme, game execution, like the perfect package. Perfect package. No, definitely going to put that in the notes for a future episode. Because if we went down that path now, we might be on here for another hour. We're already hitting an hour and a half right now. Corbin, any fumbled themes or ones that outkicked the coverage? I had thought about the fumbled themes, and Led Zeppelin was definitely on my list that we'd already talked about. Like I said, Harley-Davidson and Popeye was on my list. Themes, though, that the other way around, I didn't put enough thought into, so you'll have to ask me again next time. Yeah, absolutely. So I would say that would be about it. I mean, it's just so crazy, the spectrum of themes of pinballs that are out there. And I feel like it's only going to continue to get wilder as they continue to try to reach as many different weird parts of audiences. I mean, like a well-executed theme would be like Black Knight Swords Rage. You know, like, because it's not a... That's for pinball people. It's not for anybody else. I am a sucker for some of these unlicensed. I mean, even fucking Champion Pub. Oh, it's so good. It's so stupid. It is. Weird whiskey cuffs, you know? Whatever, it's great. Junkyard. Junkyard. It's not a perfect example of an unthemed. That's perfect. Yeah. GTF is one that I feel like it had such potential. It did. And it still does. I just feel like it's so quirky it's so weird, it's so cool it came in a tank cabinet talk about the one up at Sweets and Geeks we go up there to collect open up the bill stacker and the pan, man, that thing was loaded no bill stacker, can't handle books up there maybe it was just the cash pan doesn't it reset it? do we really want me to talk about this? no, not today there's no ground, there's just 6 volts running from everywhere But there were four games there And it was the heaviest pan It was the heaviest quarter pan for sure And it was the only one on when we got there Oh AIQL He had a broken plastic Because the tower came down and was blocking a ball I don't know what was wrong with Halloween Because it played fine Star Wars was just turned off for no Unknown reason But yeah so GTF was up there and it's doing good And I still think it's a cool ass game I mean it's a really cool game I just wished it would have done what America had hoped it would do for them. Ron offered us some beta code on that. I need to take him up on that, and we can throw it on there. You're really – You feeling lucky today? I'm feeling really lucky. You're really itching for some beating. Cool. All right, we're at the hour and a half mark here. Okay, so my other random segment that I wanted to talk about was just highlighting a random location, like a random pinball spot to play. I've got one. You got one? Oh, of course. Fire away. Vaporosity, just over across the border there in the Sharon, PA. It's literally a... Vape store with a bunch of cool-ass games in the back. Cool-ass games. They do retro culture stuff, so video games, DVDs. Jeff loves vaping. He's a vaper. Yeah, man, I'm hitting the vape all the time. But it's one of those rando spots where it's like you pull up pinball map. That's a weird pH. Why are there 30 games at this vape shop? And I went over there, and the guy over there is a huge pinhead, and he doesn't just have a big row of brand-new Stern Pros. He has Americans. He has JJPs. He has old. He has new. Nice. And then it was actually a friend of his on our last batch of Barrels of Fun games that picked up a Labyrinth, so I think that Labyrinth spent some time over there. There was a good Labyrinth. That's my rando spot. I'm getting one. Yeah. You're about to. Every time we order one, if someone else buys it, then I just sell it to them. But I think we finally have one that's going to be good. Literally, the last three batches, Corbin's ordered an extra one, and I've sold it. Which is fine. I mean, that's all good. That's the way it works. Yeah, yeah. No, it's all good. But this time, I think it's going to ship, and he hasn't sold it yet. Now this one might come in the living room. I'm going to put it out there. I haven't tried really hard to sell this one, so I might let this one slip through. You guys see the abuse I take? 2025, it's a new year. Let Corbin have a new game. So that's my spot. Do you have a spot? No, that one's good. I just wanted to start highlighting random locations. Yeah, that's one for me, so definitely Sharon, PA, and Vaporosity. I think there's like 15, 20 games easily, isn't it? Oh, I think it's approaching like 30. More? More, okay. It's a long road. It's like double road. If you're over the state lines and shit and you're looking for something to do, there you go. Vaporosity, man. Check it out. That's my spot. No, I just thought it'd be cool to start highlighting random places. No, I'm down for that 100%. 100%. Zach, any final thoughts, buddy? Do we have any events coming up or anything either? Pinball at the Beach. We talked about Pin Brew. We talked about all kinds of stuff that's coming up here. We probably should do something March Madness with the linked fast breaks. Because as we were talking about, your list of games that are tucked away in different places. Jeff thought we were short on games. I did think that. I was wrong. I was very wrong. We could do a March Madness at Finney's or something. Yeah. We've done a fast break up at Quarter Up. We could do another one. yeah tis the season so we'll have some dungeon D&D launch parties coming up here soon we will once we decide which one we're opening I'm not I mean I'm thinking pro premium okay do we sell all the LEs we have one LE hmm interesting interesting final thoughts Zach just get out there and play some pinball. Amen to that. Kyle, final thoughts? Yeah. Nice to see my pin bros. It is always nice whenever we can get together. I'm going to put a few. I had one nice game on out of four on Champion Pub. I'm going to throw one more on there. Yeah, me too. Corbin, I definitely like the idea of highlighting a random spot. Definitely will throw that on future episodes. Yeah, and they're not just going to be my locations. They'll be just any random. I mean, some of them might be, but yeah, they'll be random spots. So definitely listeners. Norridge Village, Liontown. You got somebody out there. So go ahead and dim the music for a second. We have a loss of location in Alliance. It's a sad day. A-Town's Burgers and Brews. A-Town's Burgers and Brews. Frank had a good run out there. I think he said six or seven years ago. Six years. And he had good beers. His burgers were good. This is literally probably the best chicken parm sandwich I ever had. I never had his chicken parm sandwich. He would always have random. I'm like a weird burger, like any type of weird topping. I'm like, oh, it's a monthly special. I like to try them. So he would always have cool stuff like that, and he'd have different beers. And he had two pinballs as well. Yeah, he had Beatles and World Cup. Yeah, if anyone needs one of those two in their location. He always reminded me of a local. Do you guys remember Fuddruckers? Oh, yeah. Fuddruckers would have ostrich burgers and buffalo burgers and all these weird things. It was probably all just me. They just, like, cook you all the time. He's just mixing in deer meat. He just fucking hands you a patty and you go put all your shit on it. Whatever kind of roadkill he found on the way there. Something a little bit coony there. But anyway, RIP to A-Town. He had a good run. He did. It just wasn't making sense anymore. Alliance has become, I know we're wrapping up here, it's become very corporate the last five years, where it's like Raising Cane's is in there and all kinds of stuff. And that plaza across from Mount Union there is very, because I think there's a Euro place that went in there. Jersey Mike's Jersey Mike's is in there all kinds of crazy stuff Sheetz kills over there Sheetz yeah Tank interviewed out there with that Sheetz and the numbers when he interviewed and they were talking about like this is the kind of traffic you can expect and all that and he was he of course told us and we were all like no I don't want to do that nah yeah he applied for it but then there was some kind of complications I'm sure there was yeah but yeah so A-Town I think it closed it's closed now yeah it's wrapped up yeah that's it all wrapped up alright everyone thanks for listening of the season 4 episode 2 so I'm told so if you see us at Pinball at the Beach say hello definitely will be looking forward to having a good time I'm going to have stickers they shipped so I might have them by Pinball at the Beach I'm talking fresh pinball I might have my white legs out alright everyone thanks for listening Bye to you too.
