## Analysis

Poor Man's Pinball Podcast episode 26 discusses leaked images of Spooky Pinball's Elvira's House of Horrors game, speculates about Stern Pinball's next cornerstone title (likely Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), creates a humorous top-5 list, and covers community charity efforts including Slap Save Pinball's hospital donation initiative.

### Key Claims

- [HIGH] Elvira's House of Horrors images were leaked via URL guessing—the hacker found an unlivened URL endpoint for Stern Pinball's website — _Drew and Scott Ian discussing the leak method; described as 'picking the URL' and 'if you can guess the url you can kinda get in there'_
- [MEDIUM] Stern Pinball is planning three versions of Elvira: Premium Edition (~$7,500), Limited Edition ($9,000-$10,000), and Signature Limited Edition with signed couch memorabilia — _Drew stating pricing tiers; described as 'what we think we know' rather than confirmed official specs_
- [HIGH] Elvira's House of Horrors will not be Stern Pinball's next cornerstone title—another game is coming before end of year — _Drew: 'Elvira's House of Horrors (Signature Edition) is not gonna be their cornerstone game... they're gonna release another game before the end of the year'_
- [MEDIUM] Stern Pinball is developing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pinball machine (strong rumor) — _Drew: 'strong rumors yes strong rumors from multiple sources... Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we talked about this a little bit. That would be cool, right?'_
- [MEDIUM] Slap Save Pinball's charity initiative (Gorgar Devil with a Cause) raised approximately $11,000 for children's hospitals — _Drew stating '$4,000, roughly... I think somebody else dropped another five... I think in all, $11,000'_
- [LOW] The Elvira playfield has extensive insert coverage—possibly more added post-design by George Gomez as tweaks after initial Dennis design — _Scott Ian speculating: 'Maybe Dennis designed it one way, and then... George Gomez came in after the fact and said... let's put some more inserts in there that we can do with codes'_
- [LOW] Elvira Limited Edition sales will likely exceed Alice Cooper Limited Edition sales despite Alice Cooper potentially being a better game — _Drew speculating on market dynamics: 'this game will outsell probably Alice Cooper's, even though Alice Cooper's probably a better game'_

## Transcript

What are you drinking today? It's the Poor Man's Pinball Podcast with Drew and Ian. Welcome to the Poor Man's Pinball Podcast, episode number 26. The only pinball podcast that's not safe for work. Put the kids to bed and buckle up. We're drinking, we're swearing, we're ready to go. I'm Drew, and with me? I'm Ian. All right, fantastic. What you drinking today, buddy? Same as you, brother. Oh, Ian made us some good... Tell them what you made us today, Ian. I made us some brandy old-fashioned sweets. And most of you out there in the world probably don't even know what that is. Please explain it. What the hell is a brandy old-fashioned? Sweet. Brandy old-fashioned. Sounds like something my grandparents would have drank in the 40s. Well, you know what? And they did. Your grandparents probably did. It just never caught on everywhere else. It was hot, and then it was dropped. Except for Wisconsin. We kept drinking it. We never stopped drinking it. Everywhere. So a brandy old-fashioned, simply done because I should probably explain how to make it because nobody seems to know how to make this outside of Wisconsin. um it's very simple you just take a get your pens and papers kids pens and papers you take your your cocktail glass or your rocks glass you muddle a couple cherries a slice of orange couple dashers of bitters i like mine with corbel brandy so i go two ounces corbel brandy and let that kind of marinate a bit. And then I drop a big-ass ice cube in there, and then we top it off with a little bit of Sprite. If you want to go with a sour, go squirt, guys. 50-50 squirt, something good. Yeah, it's good stuff. It's good for the soul. It's good for the radio voice. It's good for the podcast. Yep. Feeling a little under the Carl Weathers? Have an old-fashioned. Have an old-fashioned. Feeling a little over the Carl Weathers? Have an old-fashioned. Do you want to feel like shit? Have a couple of old fashions. It's okay. No, we drink them a lot. I drink, I personally do whiskey ones most of the time, obviously, with my Kessler. I'll make them at home. But, yeah, super good. Just a good drink. So, yeah, something special today for the Poor Man's Pinball Podcast. Wish you guys could enjoy it with us. Mm-mm-mm. So good. Tasty. We're going to have to pause this fucker like six times today. Yeah, we're going to have a few breaks, cocktail breaks. Cocktail break, I'll put some lounge music on. And right now our listeners are like, they have so many cocktail breaks during other episodes. We're going to have extra cocktail breaks. The whole damn podcast is a cocktail break. Whenever you hear our voices trailing off, that's one of us walking away to make a drink, by the way. Yeah, you hear the chair pull out, screech, and then we're gone. I hear it almost weekly. It's either me or Ian, and you just kind of hear like, it's usually me. You know what? Actually, it's probably five to one, me. but yeah but you hear me talking about something then he just gets up and leaves and i go well let's just talk about deadpool so so listen for that folks like i said you'll hear that yeah you'll hear the chair pull out and you'll hear the voice kind of trail off you know as we're talking as we're walking away and making a drink and then we come back i think it'd be funny to do a little lounge music as we get up for a cocktail break oh there you go we have a fantastic show for you guys out there today so drew what do we have man we're gonna be talking some elvira leaks leaks of elvira oh i always wanted a leak of elvira wrong leak it's pinball related talking a little bit about stern's next cornerstone title that is not elvira by the way no spoilers here no spoilers sorry sorry everybody we have another top five list because those seem to be really popular amongst us, as in Ian and I. Not so much this one, but we'll do it anyway. Yeah, we're going to do it. Drew and I fought over this one. It wasn't even because it was a discussion. It was more of a, I didn't take it serious. Oh, I hate when he does that. That's usually me. Now I know why he gets so pissed at me all the time. I didn't take it serious because it's a silly list. I don't care. It's pinball, baby. It's just pinball. It's a silly pinball podcast. What are we doing here? I never know. What are we doing with our lives? And we got some goodies in the mailbag. So away we go. Elvira, man. It was leaked. I saw it. And did you hear about how they leaked it? It was kind of neat. Yeah, the quote-unquote hacker, right? Yeah, some guy said that he basically found out that he could just kind of pick the... yeah the url the url there you go thank you just he just was fucking around like certain pinball slash alvira yeah slash and it wasn't live yet but he you know if you can guess the url you can kind of get in or something good to go yeah that's like the poor man's style of hacking i think it's like the weakest hacker man ever like not that hacker man yeah not that ian and i could do that but it'd be like if ian and i were sitting around drinking and we're like hey you know it'd be cool we just could figure out the url and we could totally get in there yeah yeah yeah we wouldn't even know where to begin how to start that process i tried i tried i was trying to see if stern was making a new uh hard bodies i was typing in stuff on my speak and spell and it just didn't work out so bad news i tried every form of hard bodies yeah i guess they're not remaking there's there's not a fault of that no they're keeping that one under wraps yeah they should don't ever let that out of the vault please oh man um so anyways we got some pictures and uh so we've all seen them i mean if you're listening to this i'm pretty confident you've probably already seen them so uh ian what do you think what are your first impressions hold on let me get a cherry here Alright, dig for that cherry. Ah, it fell. Ah, it fucking fell. God damn it. Ah, that's gone. Alright, so... What do I think? I think... Oh, man, when I see this, I see medieval madness. I see... What is this called? Elvira's House of... Horrors. I think it should be called Elvira's House of... Frickin' inserts, man. This is insane. Insert. like there's more inserts there's inserts describing other inserts like there's there's a lot going on here um yeah man this game looks old school and i don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing dude i'd have to see like some nice high-res photos and see it in action right sure i mean the photos now the ones they have up are pretty good um so that's not really the issue but yeah we definitely have to see it in action and um that's a good cherry that is a good cherry They are delicious. What kind of cherries are they? These are the dark sweet cherries. I could go cheap. I can get the Marciano cherries or whatever those are called, but I'd go for the dark cherries. In a can. In a can, motherfucker. All right, so I'm looking at this. Two flippers. Medieval madness kind of thing going on. Got a house. Got a few ramps. Do you think they put more... Do you think it was designed with all those inserts, or do you think they just added more to make it look more full? Interesting. Like, maybe Dennis designed it one way, and then, you know, because they said George Gomez made some tweaks. Maybe, you know, Gomez came in after the fact and said, hey, this thing looks a little plain, a little bare, so let's put some more inserts in there that we can do with codes. because as we know, Lyman's coding it, so it should be a well-coded game, which is awesome. Jesus, the amount of inserts here. I don't think you ever beat the game. No, there's obviously going to be a lot in it, especially with a guy like Lyman doing it, and I'm really excited to play it for that reason, but at first glance, it looks a little plain. But that house looks really freaking cool. It's a sculpt, which is cool. It's not some bunch of plastics. Yeah, so I think that's great. I think it looks like there's a lot of shots. That middle ramp going up into the house, that's really sweet. I mean, at first glance, that's even better than Medieval Madness because it's not just the drawbridge. It actually goes up. No, fuck that. I like the drawbridge because you get the drawbridge a bunch, and then it goes down, and there's some mechanical features to that. That's just a ramp. True enough. True enough. To-do-do, well, I've got to be honest, I'm not crazy excited about it. I wasn't overwhelmed. I was a little underwhelmed, to be honest. Yeah, it is what it is. Elvira fans are probably going to love it. They're going to scoop it up. Sad reality is that this game will outsell probably Alice Cooper's, even though Alice Cooper's probably a better game. Well, of course it is. They have more LEs than Alice Cooper's selling total. Yeah. And do you think... How many LEs? I think they said 400. Alice Cooper should be up to 500. It's 500, but then you add the super LEs, and now you've got another 50 or 80. Oh, gotcha. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I know what you're saying. Supposedly, they're going to have premium LE, not super. It's signature LE. I like the back glass, though. I will say that. Elvira's looking pretty good on that back glass. You did a good job on the art there. I can't really tell about the art on the play field itself. You've got some gradients there. It's kind of going from blue to purple to red. They kind of kept that 70s type theme. Yeah, maybe. I mean, it's kind of that psychedelic sort of. Yeah, maybe. With the swirls, I guess. But, you know, the complete package, it's not pinball with Elvira's calls, right? You've got to hear her call-outs. And she's going to be doing all of them. Yeah, it's going to be pretty cool. No, I think it's going to be a neat game. I just, you know, given what we know about the price points, I mean, it's just going to be a tough pill to swallow, I think. You know, unless you're a diehard fan. Well, you know, I'm always surprised when they actually show the videos of these things and there's some things moving that you don't expect to move. Yeah. So there's always that. You know, when you saw pictures of the T-Rex, you know, on Jurassic Park, I didn't know it was going to follow the ball around and thrash about. So, you know what? I'll wait. I'll wait for it. I'm not going to overreact to this. No, not at all. I think it looks cool. Can we address that Kaneda was all over the place with this thing? It drove me nuts, man. It was hot and cold. Yeah, he went one episode. He's done, what, four episodes on it, I think. I don't think it's that many. It's two, I think. No, I'm not kidding. There's at least three. All right, at least three. Well, the first one was all about how much he didn't like it, and then the second one was about Muppet Babies and how Pinside are babies because they didn't like it. and then in that same episode he goes but i don't like it because of this whatever that dude's on i'll take some of that yeah i don't know i you know yeah i mean i i just need to play it i mean you know that that's the problem with this whole thing is yeah we're looking at these pictures because all we have to go on and we're just like all this and that yeah even us we're like well you know but no we don't know anything about it this game This game could be the greatest game of all time. Probably not, but it could be. Chances are, no. However, it could be. It could be, sure. Let's just not rule it out, right? Sure. What do you think about, but we can critique the art because it's here, and we can see it for the most part. So what do you think about the Greg Freres versus Franchi? Not that he was even in the running to do this, but a lot of people said, you know, Franchi should have just done this. This was in his wheelhouse. I'm a big Franchi guy. We are here at the poor man's pinball. I love you, Franchi. We love you. I don't care for the art. Just don't. I like the back glass. I don't care about anything else. Even the house being kind of all gray, different shades of gray, doesn't really stand out to me. I'm sure the LEDs and stuff are going to do some cool stuff. I mean, it would have to, right? You hope so. There's probably some spotlights and some cool lighting inside the house. It's probably a whole thing. The Black Knight's going to be hanging out inside the house. It's ugly. It's fucking ugly. I don't care for it at all. I don't know. Now I'm an art snob, and it's all Christopher Franchi's fault. It's all Zombie Yeti's fault. Now I expect art to look like that. I want it to wow me. And we don't get that now because this isn't a Franchi or a Yeti art package. So I hate critiquing someone's hard work. Sorry, dude. Art's subjective. I'm sure there's lots of dudes out there that love this shit. I mean, I think it's okay. I mean it gets the job done on what it is This reminds me of like 90s tattoos Sure Well he did the first two You know it the trilogy now It done so I think he did a better job on the other two. You think so? I'm going to go look real quick, but you keep talking. Yeah, I just think that, you know, people are more, you know, there's more collectors buying them now, so I think they just need to step up the art. We've said that in the past, and like you said, it's subjective, so a lot of people are going to say it's great. Like lately, the problem is the artwork's been great on all three models, you know, instead of having the one model be really sweet. That is very, very, very true. All right, so flyers. Here we go. Yeah, man, dude, I don't know. I'm looking at scared stuff here, and I like the red with the bright green on it. Sure. You don't think the styles are very much the same, though? I mean, the color scheme's a little different, obviously, but it's the same guy, same art style. I get it. It's just, I don't know. It's going to be one of those things. How many guys do you think are going to have all three of these in their house? Right? I don't know how many, but I know the guy, though. You know that type of guy. Sure. Boo! Boo! Yeah. Which is the title of this episode. I don't know. Boo! Good Lord. All right. So anyway, yeah, that's kind of what I think. I mean, what are we going to say? What can we say? We can't say a whole lot to it, right? So let's talk about what we think we know, okay? Okay. So we think there's going to be three versions of this game. There's going to be a premium at about $7,500. There's going to be a limited edition at somewhere between $9,000 and $10,000. And then there's going to be a signature limited edition, which has, get this, a piece of her couch signed by her. What do you think of that? Dramatic effect. Positive. Yeah. Positive. And I have no opinion on any of that. That's tough. I know. Those prices are crazy. They're talking $15,000. I just wish they would learn. Look at Beatles. How well that would have sold if they didn't freak everyone out about that damn price of the Beatles, right? I would love a Beatles. Everyone would. Yeah, it's a good game. At $6,000, there would be a lot of them out there. Yes. Not at $8,000, not at $12,000. This has more than the Beatles, granted. but this also is pretty niche. This is not a whole lot going on. I was expecting something a little bit more maybe adult. I just think the color scheme just lends it, and the haunted house just lends it to more of a PG. Yeah. Scary romp. Reading goosebumps. Yeah. R.L. Stine. Well, you know, they had to do that because it's like there's going to be guys. Don't tell me that, because there's big boobs on the black back glass. Don't tell me it had to be PG. Don't tell me that. You know what I'm saying? I know. Hey, mix that shit up. You got Bram Stoker's Dracula. That's not kiddy. That's a pretty dark game, man. Very dark. Yeah, so there you go. Very dark. I would have liked that. That was a different time, Ian. She's from that time. She's from before that time, man. She's older than Dracula? Bram Stoker's Dracula, the movie. Yes, she's older than the movie Cassandra, you heard it here first Ian said you're older than Dracula I love you, I think you're great If you want to come on my show, you can come on my show She was on What was that show on History Channel She was on Counting Cars The guy, the count Who did restorations in Vegas She showed up in normal garb Totally different person She's skinny, her boobs aren't ginormous Well, yeah, because she's not pushing them up and tucking them and folding them origami-style, you know, in your face. Fold them up. To make them 3D. But she got like a sweet-ass, like, yeah, like a little death mobile. Yep. Custom-made. I'm going to have to check that. I like that show. I didn't catch that one. I was like, that's pretty cool. That is pretty cool. Well. No, good for her. You know, her brand. I love Elvira. I love her brand. Yes. Her brand's been around for, you know, 40 years or something. It's good for her. and I think it's awesome, but I'm going to play the crap out of this game. Yeah, whoever gets it. Yeah, someone will have it. Yeah. I mean, the premium version. I hope so. Otherwise, if it's too much, we might not see it. Yeah, but I think... There's not a place around here we can play Beatles. Ooh, or Batman 66. Well, there's that bowling alley, I suppose. Yeah, they're around. We've got to do some more searching again, go out in the wild, find some games. Check out in the wild, brother. Check out in the wild. Because we're in Ian's basement now. Tell him what happened, Ian. I'm pinball-less. Yep. Monster Bash is out the door. I got no Monster Bash. I'm okay with it. That's fine. I'm just saying, now you got room for a Beatles or a Batman 66 or a Wonka or an Oktoberfest. Thanks, Drew. The list goes on and on and on. I was thinking of a big furry couch right there. With that virus signature on it? Yeah, just a big furry couch. smoke some cigars, maybe a pink plume. Oh, there you go. Yeah, something real fancy down there. You got to wear the Hugh Hefner smoking jacket while you're doing it. I figure if I do something like that, I'd have more chicks down here than, I think the pinball chased them away. Yeah, sweaty, fat pinball dudes coming down here. Just you and me. That's who I was referring to, dude. Here we are. I think you're going to stop here. What's going on there? I was like, oh, that's my podcast set up. And she gone. Yeah. and those panties came right back up oh man it's okay whatever yeah whatever all right so so elvira is not gonna be their cornerstone game so anyone who doesn't like this or says oh my god what's stern doing once again it's kind of like uh star wars home edition this game just maybe isn't for you that's fine yeah but they're gonna release another game before the end of the year it's sad that this game hasn't even been announced yet we're talking about what's coming next but that's the world we live in what's next give me something more teenage mutant ninja turtles come on you enjoying it with me i don't want to sing with you i know i'm joking uh so it's strong rumors yes strong rumors from multiple sources i don't have sources i just listen to people talk and i believe everything they say you know they're they're coming out with a uh Guns N' Roses but it's going to be Guns N' Roses, Chinese Democracy and no, that's not really happening What's Chinese Democracy? Is that their new album? That was their album that was never released It was supposed to be released in the early 2000s It was this whole thing Nah, yeah, right That was supposed to be their big comeback and it just didn't happen, I don't know I don't think Axl Rose is ready for that So Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we talked about this a little bit That would be cool, right? If it's the cartoon. Why is that? I just think it's that 80s nostalgia. Yeah, that's all it is, baby. You know, if they come out and if they do a Photoshop job like Game of Thrones or Spider-Man, I'm out of the hobby. I'm calling it right now. You heard it here first, folks. Yeah. No, I don't. I don't believe you. No, you're never leaving this hobby. No, you're right. But I can still be pissed off. I mean, do you really think that they would do that? He didn't choose Pinball Life. Pinball Life chose him. True story. He's not leaving. True story. I want to see, though, if this game does come to fruition, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, that is, when you plunge the ball, I want it to be like Ghostbusters where it starts playing the theme song as soon as you plunge the ball. That would make me smile so big. you just you pull the plunger back and then you let it go and it goes teenage mutant ninja turtles i mean that would just be yeah that would just be so awesome because that that was one of the biggest selling points on ghostbusters i think just that you know jurassic park 2 when you hit the start button and you hear the music you know that's that's the kind of iconic stuff you need so how far deep into the rabbit hole do you go with the cartoon because didn't they get a little weird they introduced a lot of different characters oh you know you keep it simple you you have uh You do it kind of like Deadpool. Okay? They could actually copy the animation style and stuff from Deadpool. Okay? Do 80s style. They could do 8-bit again if they wanted to. That would be fine. Well, that's where I was going. And you have battles. I want them to do the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle arcade game. Sure. Turtle. Sure. I would be perfectly fine with that. It's very specific, and I doubt that will ever happen. I doubt it, too. But I think if they... This would lend to that art style. If they did something similar and then they have some real cool artwork like they did on Deadpool. Like I said, it's sort of like Deadpool with a different layout. Yeah. I would be over the moon for that. I think it would be awesome. Yeah. So that's my thought. Folks, Drew doesn't have pants on anymore. They're gone. Nope. They're long gone. Oof. And it's in my hands. Well, my fingers at least. What's in your fingers? Whoa. Oh, yeah, I see it. He's motioning at me, and this is fucked up. I'm going to go get a cocktail. Let's pause here. All right, so that's Drew's. We're back, by the way. That's Drew's. We're back from the bar. masturbating about uh Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just like he did when he was 8 kids it's all coming together full circle you don't want to know what I did in my shell you know I love this is one of those things that I love and appreciate like because it was early 90s when the movie came out right or late was it 89 I think the first one was yeah late 80s and the second one was like 90s why it's a beautiful thing right the first ninja turtles movie they use like they were beating the shit out of each other those foot clam oh live action like fighting it was kind of dark they were like you know they were using their weapons yeah swords and the side all that stuff the bo staff yeah it was it was pretty i don't say violent but it was it was it was realistic shredder got trashed in the trash compactor i mean that was brutal right for a kids movie. Well, apparently it was too brutal because parents complained. About that movie specifically? About them using their weapons and being violent. Oh, that's right. So now if you go back and watch the second one, the sequel. They're dancing. Now it's not nunchucks. He's hitting them with sausages like he pulls from the wall. It's more silly. It's more martial arts. But yeah, you never see Leonardo use his sword. Yeah, because we were like 9 and 10. But yeah, I'm sure if you Google some of that stuff, you can probably find some of those news stories now. Yeah, and now that you mention that, I think I recall that. I don't blame him, though, because I was breaking up broomsticks and he was trying to chain them together like nunchucks. Ian's the reason that we went from nunchucks to sausages. If you don't like your sausage, Email Ian at poormanspinball at gmail.com. Drew's never had a sausage in his mouth that he didn't like, okay? So I've seen it. You were there? Is this love letters? This is getting dirty. Let's move past it. What are we talking about? Moving on. Is that pinball? That was a pinball conversation. I think so. So anyways, we are done with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We are moving on. What do we got next there, sir? Is this slap safe? You're doing slap save? We are. You are. I have no idea what you're doing. Ian's surprising me again, as he often does. With a sausage in my mouth. I got another thing I want to do. I want to kind of fuck with slap save a little bit in a loving way. That's how I show my affection. Drew can attest to that. We should probably talk about their big thing with the pinball. The charity, the Gorgar Devil with a Cause. Yep, the pinball charity for the hospital, right? The children's hospital, was it? Well, yeah, pinball charities, they're trying to get pinball machines into children's hospitals across the country, which is very cool. Iceman 44? Yes, from Pinside. Got the Orga? I think it was $4,000, roughly. Five? Was it up to five? I think somebody else dropped another five. I think in all, $11,000. So Jason Fowler and Matt Koenig, great job all the way around. Sincerely, from the Poor Man's Pinball Podcast. such a worthy cause and the only time in this hour long charade that I won't joke I'm really really happy for what you guys did so good job good job guys so for that I will I want to create a new segment and that's just let call into their call in line and then let just I got a funny little dialogue My eyes are lightened up This is exciting Yeah let just call in Live call And let's just fuck with them a little bit. Let's just see what we got here. His wife's going to answer the phone. I hope not. I want to do this every week until he tells me to stop. It's ringing. If his wife does answer, I'm hanging up, by the way. I'm not. I'm calling back. I think it should go to a call in line. Why is it ringing so much? Is this his house phone? Honey, don't pick it up. It's a call in line. It's a landline. That's fine. This is Jason with Flap Safe Pinball. Thanks for calling our comment line. Please feel free to leave some feedback, comments, suggestions, or even a review. There's a good chance it'll end up on the show. Thanks for listening, and we'll talk to you soon. Here we go. so everyone nowadays is obsessed with this whole tiny living tiny house hashtag van life movement that's going on i mean i live in a van and it ain't because i'm a fucking minimalist i get people walking up to me all the time saying wow that's so cool you live in a van very organic very green bro way to save the earth bud and it's like i'm just thinking in my head can't you see i'm a fucking alcoholic i would live in a house if i could get sober but then there's people always asking me questions about my appearance did you get that stain on your pants from when you built out your van no that stain is a combination of shit and piss because i blacked out last night after chugging a few 40s fucking van life a couple of things i have more questions than answers right now so i'm gonna roll with this i had guys i honestly had no idea what was about to come out of his mouth um i thought we were gonna say some stuff about poor man's pinball and whatever whatever and just be goofs um that was funny i don't think he's gonna air it because it had way too many swears do they do they bleep out swears on slap save i swear every once in a while yeah No, I know they let him go occasionally, but a lot of F-bombs. I love it. I think it's great. That was such a cool story. He had the voice and everything, so good job, Ian. Way to go. Thank you. Thank you. So that's our messing with slap save segment. Let's see if he puts that on the air. I'm going to keep doing it every week until we get some kind of response, I think. I think it'll be fun. Yeah, the response will be week one. Don't call in ever again. We love you, Jason. Jason, thank you very much, sir. Jason, thanks again for what you did. Well, we've got to take advantage of this call-in line. Oh, yeah. Maybe other people do, too. When people offer their number like that in a public forum, you have to take advantage of it. All right. So you can call Ian at 414-719-001. No, I'm joking. That's my old number. All right. Well, okay. So what do we got? We got another top five today that Ian didn't do. Oh, it's top five. Tell them the story, Ian. Fucking Orbital Albert over here. We love you, Orby. Yes, yes. They gave us a lot of love because they stole our segment last week. It was great. All right. What is the top five this week, sir? Why are you asking me? You're the one that came up with this. All right. Top five movie slash TV pins based on theme and gameplay. Got to have both. Definitely. So we're going to do top five, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Yep. And we're going to just talk about best movie and TV pins. When I sent this to Ian today, he just sent back, he goes, are you sure you want to do this? He goes, that's so easy. And me, on the other end, I'm like, this is so difficult because I got to about 20 different pins that fit the criteria. And I was writing them down. I literally had Post-it notes all over my desk. And I couldn't figure it out. So he's like, oh, that's easy. I had it done in two seconds. I'm like, well. It wasn't even two seconds. Oh, my God. All right. Well, the thing was, man, it's like, all right, that criteria, right? movie and tv right there it's like pretty much every but there's some good themes that just aren't great pinball top five move you know top five there's all right okay let's do this i get into it you know well we're fighting about it before we even aired because it's like i don't get it i think it's a bs kind of top five list it's just filler like all top fives but this is like even more so because this is like everyone loves these pins and and i get it but so is this the top five of a top five list bottom five well mine so happens to be the top five on pin side i don't know all right go ahead you start number five oh do you want me to start i'll start go ahead all right number five indiana jones williams boom awesome game awesome playability awesome theme indian jones is a badass everything about that game is amazing artwork the call outs the modes uh the planes the the plastics the upper play field i hate it but it's challenging and that's why i hate it but it fits the theme perfectly love it there you know to our to our point when we started talking about this uh that is one of probably two maybe three games that is probably on most people's list for this i threw my list hold on i got aggressive hold on he's so animated about this top five that uh away we go so my top five uh pretty straightforward twilight zone um you know i haven't got enough time in this game it it is really cool the tv show was was very neat you know and and um struggle is real over here all right i'm back i'm back okay twilight zone's badass man yeah it's cool cool show cool play that pin this year Yep. You know, it's... Loved it. It's not as flowy as I would like in a pin, but it has so much going on in it, and I understand why people love it so much. And, you know, it kind of hits both marks. So that's my number five. Tons of shit in it, too. Yep. Tons of shit to shoot at. Tons of shit. That would be a good game to own if it wasn't $10,000. Yes. Yes. If that was a $4,000 or $5,000 game all day long, everyone's collection, but that's just one. You just can't. Like, yeah, 10 Gs for that game. Yeah. Man, I don't even want to know what a really good restored version is. No, and you find these beat-up ones, and they're asking like $7,500, $8,000. And this is like, well, it kind of works, and you need a new play field. Give me $7,500. Replace the clock with a Casio. Oh, my God. One of those calculator watches, like, here you go. Yeah, exactly. All the plastics are all fogged up and nasty. No, that's a tough game to restore, I'm sure. All right, number four. Number four. Lord of the Rings. Do I have to go on? Nope. It's a beautiful fan layout, but it has the diverters that makes it even more, it's like fan layout plus. I don't mind the artwork, although some people don't like it, but I think it looks great all around as a good pin. The eye of Sauron is amazing. I love shooting that thing every goddamn time. It feels like there's more shots on it than there actually is. Yes. So cool. The dot matrix display, the DMD, although it's a DMD, you can tell everything that's going on. The clips are fine. You progress through the story. It's a hell of a pin. And it's a long pin. It's a journey, but it's good to have in anyone's collection if you have a bunch of ass kickers. So, boom. Lord of the Rings. Lord of the Rings. I'm like a list master over here. I love it. This list was so easy for you to make. So easy. Number four for me, Batman 66. you know we all love the show we watched the reruns growing up some of you guys out there probably watched the show when it was originally airing um do we have people that old listening to our podcast did i just insult them send us a fax at 262-220 uh we're available by carrier pigeon so uh send you a little note to a carrier pigeon you old farts and uh let us know well let us know email us at poor man's pinball gmail.com all right so That one's self-explanatory. Really? Because it's... You don't think so? It's a boring shot game. Oh, man. It's fun. It's just fun. You didn't like it when you first played it. No, I didn't. I didn't, but it really grew on me. The code is where it's at. Yes. But the shots aren't that great. It's a fan layout. It's, you know... Based on theme and gameplay. Gotta have both. I argue with gameplay. You didn't say anything about rules. Gameplay. Gotta have both. It's part of the rules. Gotta have both. You're not even following your own directions here, man. Batman 66 is off my list. Replace it with Ian's a jackass. Okay, number three. You guys going to buy that game from Stain? Yeah, Ian's a jackass. All right, you and my wife both got that game. All right, number three, Twilight Zone. For exactly what Drew said, because it's awesome. It's amazing. And I love the shots. I love the mode progressions. I love that it's super deep for being an older game. And I love all the shit in there, man. And when I first saw it, I stared at it for a while because I was like, what the hell is going on here? What is in this box? For me, it was kind of like Adam's Family. When I first played it, I was like, you know, I don't really get it. But when you just see it and then you actually start making some shots and you see all the stuff that's going on, it is. I've seen every single Twilight Zone episode, by the way. I love Twilight Zone. Yeah, Ian's a big, big fan. Was it Rod Serling? Did I say that right? Yeah. Yep. See, look at me. All right. Go for it. You're number three. Number three, I cheated a little bit. Of course you did. Hey, it's my list. It's my podcast. I can do what I want. Watch. I'm cheating. Ready? All right. Here we go. Okay. Here's the thing. Because Ian said this is super easy, and I totally disagree. Super easy. Yeah. You already got disqualified. I know. I already lost. We're only on number three. Okay. I haven't even gotten off the top three on the Spinside Top 100. So this is what I had to do. I'm a big, fat cheater, but here we go. number three is every jersey jack pinball except for dialed in you fucker well here's the thing i couldn't i couldn't put them all on the list because then it would just be oh because the list would be too easy the top the top five jersey jack games would you say that wizard of oz is is sure it's it's a great game it's a great movie okay right are you saying it's on the same par as as willie wonka though uh i haven't played it as much as wonka but i would say yeah What do you think? See, I like the gameplay on Wonka better. I like it better, yes, but I think that they both do a good job of having the movie and... Theme integration would go to Oz. Yep, probably. You gotta pick one. Just pick one. Well, there's also Hobbit, too. And Pirates of the Caribbean. Please pick one. And you can't pick... Just fucking pick one. Then I have to go Wonka. I just have to. all right gameplay it's got gameplay the theme yeah questionable but i love it yeah all right good call yep so wonka's my number three all right wonka's good though yeah i like one yeah love it love it i'm waiting for those prices to go down a bit though zach many are you listening he's he's listening i know you're listening he knows all our shit i know you're listening i know he knows more than my wife does man all right uh mine just a personal favorite um creature from the black lagoon because i love the universal movie we were joking about this for the episode i said ian that's not really i mean he's in movies but the the pin isn't like a movie or a tv show he goes it's at a drive-in it's called creature from the black lagoon that's a movie bro he's in the lagoon and you gotta save the girl you gotta save the girl that's the whole point of the game i'll give it to you but the drive-in is where you watch the movie man you know what i'm leaving i'm out of here no joking all right no i say creature from the lack of good personal favorite of mine love the art on it uh the call outs get a little annoying and repetitive but i like the shots um but it hits the marks and the hologram is really cool feature i mean can trudeau can do no wrong wait too soon all right the jokes are flowing today folks i can't help but i'm sassy today all right Drew, number two. Number two. It was already on your list. Indiana Jones. I mean, you know, the good one. Oh, I played the Stern one again the other day. Yeah. And once again, fun location pin. Super fun location pin. Where'd you go? Blackbird. You went again without me? Without you, man. Sunday nights. Why don't you just meet me there every Sunday night? We'll just do that. Oh, that was last night. Oh, I said the other night. Yeah. What a dick. All right. So please, tell me how you had all this fun with pinball. Fun without you? I played Funhaus, too, in Pimp Pump. Yeah. No, just a cool location pin. That's all. That's all you had to say about it? That was it. So you're talking about the Williams one? No, no, no. I'm talking about the Williams one. It's number two on my list. What do you like about the Williams one? Oh, man. I mean, it's just, you know, the cool mechs, the ramps. The ramps on there are just awesome. I mean, you know, it's got the thing like Lord of the Rings. Oh, the three ball multiball, the little temple thing. That's what I'm saying. Everything on there, from a pinball perspective, it's just fun to watch and play. You watch someone else play. It's just cool. Nothing wrong with that one. What do you got? Number two? No, I didn't mind that. Number one. Number one. Jersey Jacks, Pirates of the Caribbean. Boom Theme is loosely based on the movies However I said movie not movies Yeah. However, I like how it shoots. I love how it looks. I love everything about that game except for the fact that it's wide body. But it doesn't shoot like a wide body. I don't know. It's pretty badass. I wish it was cheaper on location. But my number one. I was going to do that. But then, like I said, I lumped them all into number three as the cheater I am. And that one was just, for me, it was a little too obvious. I did this list in two seconds, bro. Okay. Well, I took my time. All right. All right. Well, it's not cheating when I don't. Okay. I took my time. It's not obvious. All right. Go ahead. Another one that was on Ian's list, so maybe it is obvious. We keep going. Lord of the Rings. We have the same list in a different order. No, that's not true. I had Batman 66 on mine. You got disqualified for that. And I did. I lost. But Lord of the Rings. Oh, come on. This was fun. It was fun. I like talking with you, man. It's all good. So, anyway, you know, and it shows you how subjective it is. And, you know, I do want to mention a few that I was really struggling with putting on there was Star Trek. Which one? Stern. Stern Star Trek. Yeah, that's a good one. You know, fun to shoot. Just great game. You know, Star Wars, there's not enough on it for me to even think about putting that on the list. Right. Simpsons Pinball Party. Yeah, that's a good one. You know. But once again, that's not, you know, that's just kind of the Simpsons property to me. You know what I mean? Yeah. It's kind of an all-encompassing. So, I mean, you can count it for sure. My Dracula, which I've loved playing. You know, it's another movie pin. Yeah. A few episodes ago you said you liked Addams Family. So, what about Addams Family? They were a memorable mention as well, along with Tron, Jurassic Park, and Ghostbusters. Would Deadpool be there, or because it's based on the comic? Yeah, it wasn't really part of it. All right. But yeah, Ghostbusters, both Jurassic Parks and Tron. Yeah, I like Wizard of Oz, but it doesn't shoot very well for me. Yeah, it's a little clunkier. Walking Dead, did you talk about that? Walking Dead was on there as well. All right. Yep. It's going down the list here. When I made my two-second list, full disclosure, I went... The Shadow would have been a good one. Yeah, I thought of that, too. So when I made my list, I'm a homer, so I did Simpsons Pinball Party, no pun intended, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Walking Dead, and then I think I had Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings, two in one. Gotcha. You know, like I said, there's so many good ones. How about Congo? Congo. I was looking at that one and I'm like, yeah, cool movie. Cool game. Yep, that could have been on there. And Tron, I know everybody loves it, but I just don't. I don't get it. Yeah. And it's nothing against them. No, I just don't get it. Not against the fans that love that game. Yeah, not a game for me. There's a lot of them out there. Hey, man, I'm glad they love it. Yep. Judge Dredd. Oh, wait, that was on our list yesterday. Not so much. Yeah, that was last week's worst pin of all time. Fucking throw it in a lake and torch it and do it again. No, no. But there's a lot. Like I said, there's 25, 30. I mean, if you go deeper, you get into Last Action Hero and Flash Gordon and all these other ones that are older. Tales from the Crypt. Yeah, that one I was thinking of too. That's just cool. See, the problem with Tales from the Crypt, to be honest with you, I have not put a lot of games on that because I don't know where to play it. I just found out recently they have new ROM for every day to East. I had one for Last Action Hero, and I didn't think much of it. A new ROM, basically, with sets of rules. And they did that for all the Data East games. Yeah, a guy wanted to... That's pretty cool. A guy wanted to trade me my Black Rose for Tales from the Crypt, but he wanted money, too. I remember that. Yeah, because his was like a fucking crazy 5 out of 5, fully restored. Yep. Which, he won awards and shit for that restoration. In hindsight, it might have been a cool thing to have for a while. It would have been cool. Yeah. I wasn't willing to put money into Plenty of Rose. Yeah. Which I ended up doing months later for the Monster Bash. All right. Mailbag. Mailbag. Mailbag, mailbag. If you haven't listened, his episode 264, 265, they did a top 5 list similar to ours from last week it was interesting yeah they swapped them they swapped the top 5 yeah and no they had some nice things to say about Ian and I said that it's apparent that we're really good friends and we hate and love each other all at the same time yeah you can tell this episode fucking asshole but I will say this I should probably make a disclaimer and correction I gotta go back on something I said last week And I have to make an Apology to Gottlieb About Stargate It really is A I can't do it I fucking hate that game Sorry boys Not happening this week No corrections I don't need to give Gottlieb shit We don't do corrections here at the Poor Man's Pinball Podcast I am all powerful Oh, sorry. All right, Stargate. If we say it, it's in the interwebs, and that's how it goes. There are no pop bumpers in World Cup soccer. Or Alice Cooper. Yeah, Dennis Creasle couldn't. Alice Cooper has 10 pop bumpers. And Twip, Dennis Creasle couldn't. Or, shoot, was it both of them, Zach and Dennis? They didn't realize that Alice Cooper didn't have any pop bumpers. See? It wasn't just me. It was just one of those crazy things. Because they looked at the new Elvira League and they're like, well, where are the pop bumpers? We haven't had a game without pop bumpers in forever. And I'm screaming in my... We just said it on our podcast not too long ago. It was last week, I think. They came to that conclusion themselves? No, they didn't even... Alice Cooper never came to the out-the-ramp. Oh, really? They didn't know. They assumed there hasn't been a game without pop bumpers in years. Hey, we got it. And Alice Cooper's probably the one in years. Alice Cooper, baby. All right, well, that about does it for this week's episode, guys. I had a lot of fun. Drew, did you have fun? Always, man. Dude, I was cracking up. That was good. I cried a couple times. Martin, thank you again for that love letter. That was a highlight for sure. And Drew, you did good today. I was really proud of you. Thanks, man. I kept it together. I'm only on drink one and a half, which is, for me, that's like a huge win. It's a little warm down here, so my drink evaporated. I don't know what's happening. All right. Well, thank you very much again for listening to the Poor Man's Pinball Podcast. We will be on nice and early next week. Same time. Episode 27 coming your way. Episode 27. Thank you again. Thanks, guys. Appreciate it. Keep those emails coming. PoorMansPinball at gmail.com. Like us on Facebook, Poor Man's Pinball Podcast page. Did I miss any? Nope. Nope. That's all we got. See ya. Bye. We'll be right back.
