## Transcript

Now who's responsi- I say who's responsible for this unwarranted attack on my person? I say, I say, I say, pay attention now, boy. This is, of course, Foghorn Leghorn presents the Pinball Junk Drawer. You all asked for it. I say, I say, you all asked for it now. You're gonna get it. Boy, oh boy, are you gonna get it. Go, I say, go away, boy, you bother me. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages, step right up. It's time for the one and only, often imitated, never duplicated. Saki Bamagogo? No, wait. I thought you were on Radio St. Pete. Oh, I am? No, wait. No, this is some other thing. What's this called? Oh, yeah, the Pinball Junk Drawer. Big show, 57. My name is Foghorn Leghorn, and with me, as usually... Craft Brew Sally. And this is the only podcast too disorganized to self-promote. More on that later. Anyway, this is going to be our free expo extravaganza, you'd say. ExpoStravaganza? Is that? Crafter Sally is just jotting down. I'm trying to write it down to see how it would be pronounced. It would not be pronounced, I think, is what we're saying. ExpoStravaganza? ExpoStravaganza. We're going to stop saying that word now, everyone. So, yeah, a little bit. This will probably be a quick, light, airy show. We are almost into the vacation bliss. We are both signing off of our jobs for the week. The whole week. And we're going to be down in the Pinball Expo in Chicago area. Be like 10 days away, won't it? Oh, wow. Right? So great. I know. Last time we took this much time, we were flying to Japan, which was awesome, but not vacation. Right. I don't think I'm going to be thinking or doing quite as much as we did on our trip to Japan. Oh, my goodness. That was so jam-packed. But so amazing. Yeah, yeah. This one might be a little bit more low-key. Right. Although I think I'm packing more stuff for this week than I did for Japan. And I have an image in my head of me being drunk most of the time. So we'll see how that works out for both of us. Great. Foghorn gets to be a professional craft through Sally Wrangler. Let's get your drunk butt to work this week. Good night, everyone. Don't you tell me. Just make sure I have snacks in my purse. I will. You'll have plenty of snacks. So I am looking forward. There's been a lot of new games released, new games teased. I'm excited to play. Of course, the Uncanny X-Men, the Stern release. I'm sure there will be some of them kicking around up there. We have the Avatar game. The JJP game will be there. I heard ABBA is going to be there. I hope ABBA is there, and I hope I can play it. All the joking we made about it. I do want to play these games. I wanted to play Queen. I've never seen one in my life. Right. I want to play that. You know, ABBA. And there's also, there's one like some like Ninja something, Ninja Eclipse, Fruit Ninja. Fruit Ninja? No, it's not Fruit Ninja. It's just something Ninja. Ninja's in the name. Maybe. I'm a little spotty. But it's one of those that's like, I heard that the first go around, it was a little bit rough, but then they listened to what people were saying as they were playing it and they fixed it. So like, it's kind of like a good offering. Oh, good. Yeah. So I can't even tell you who does it. Haggis? No. No, Haggis does nothing. Sorry, Halsey. They're bringing zero. They're bringing crippling debt is what they're bringing to the Expo. Sorry, was that inappropriate? It doesn't matter. Okay. So they're bringing crippling debt and sadness. But there's also Dutch pinball. I think it's DPX Extreme or something. I forget what it is. I even looked it up just before the show, and my brain is a sieve. it's uh what does it stand for exclusive dutch pinball exclusive i see i was thinking like 90s like extreme oh yeah dpx is extreme no dpx is for uh they they did that um adventures in uh alice in wonderland adventures in wonderland oh is that i could i've seen the yeah the post about yeah but they're gonna have some there i'm excited to play it i don't um i don't have any things say one way or the other about it. I didn't really watch any of the videos. I don't care. So is it like Tim Burton-y Alice in Wonderland? It looks pretty druggy weirdo kind of thing, which is good for pinball. It should be a little bit out there. We'll see. Maybe it's a good shooter. I don't know. I have no one way or the other about it. Maybe they're copying Glenn's saw and making it Alice in Wonderland. No, I don't think they are. Maybe shoehorning in a call out for Skateboarder Glenn? Yes. Well, you can just call out Skateboarder Glenn. He is, of course, going to be there. We're excited to see the saw machine he made, or he was part of. He didn't make it himself. He might have made some of it, but he was definitely part of the team, and that's going to be awesome. Now, we aren't going to participate in the Pinball Olympics, which I've heard tons about this. Have you heard anything about this? I have in the past because last time we went people were talking about it yeah i think i would throw up a lot of people say they throw up i was like i don't want to i don't want to i don't like that at all i don't yeah so i mean it sounds fun but it's also at some like some house and i'm like i don't want to do that yeah it would be neat to watch so maybe they're going to be streaming it maybe we can watch it somewhere but yeah you know it was funny because during the year like sometimes i always in my brain sometimes I be playing pinball and my mind will wander and I be like I always like dream of inventing something that could be used in pinball Olympics Like, in my brain I'm like, what if I made some kind of armature that, like, would cover the play field and move around when you're playing and it would be, like, or something like, you know. Like Mario Kart? Or whatever. I don't know. You got ink in your face. Yeah, like that kind of stuff. But then you go, like, I always kind of think, like, I'd love to invent something or build something, then, like, gift it to the dude that runs it. Kind of saying, here, if he even takes it, he might have 100 guys a year saying, take this. He's like, I don't need your garbage. I don't want your stuff. Yeah. You can do your own Olympics, and then you can keep your own garbage. But I do always think, if I ever think of something cool, I probably would reach out to the guy and say, if I build this, is it cool? Can I bring it to you or give it to you, you know? We'll see. so you know we're of course going to be part of the we're going to have uh vendor passes because we are going to be officially part of the the uh poor man's vendor poor man's podcast booth uh i don't think we can say that very fast i can't no i can't i can't even say the name of our show fast so what is this again i can't even remember the uh so i'm excited for that like we're Now we're taking stuff to sell. Junk. That's what everyone takes, junk. Everyone takes junk. I did have some questions for you. Okay. There's a couple things I'm like, should I, shouldn't I, I don't know. A skateboard deck? Negatory. I should take that one homely one down there and just put it up for sale for like $10. Or you could put it up for like $200 and see if someone buys it. Just put like a scribble of fake signature on it. Oh, yeah, that's like that famous guy from Dogtown Crew. Yeah, whatever. so okay back to reality okay so one of the things i was thinking of is i used to we we had a television show for a lot of years on public access and i had bought a sony uh prosumer level like it's it's it was fine to use for indie movies and stuff that it's a real movie camera but it's it's a it's a it's the high eight or like the eight millimeter cassette now everyone uses digital now this is a professional rig but it uses tapes now that's not completely out of the realm of desire but is that something I should do? it has low hours on it I could sell it don't those kind of go pretty quickly into the this isn't well not this level the guy at that one camera shop was like it's obviously not worth what you paid for it But this one is one of the high-end ones, so it would always carry a little value. We could. I know. Listen, listen. We could use it this whole week and then make an expo video, and we could sell the expo video. See, now that's thinking. Right? That's work, though. I know. I don't know. I don't really want to work this whole thing. I know. I don't either. Whatever. Let's kick that. I'm surprised at that, so let me kick it around the old noodle, and either we'll sell it or we'll use it or maybe we'll do nothing. Probably nothing, but you never know. The other thing I have those actual 1950s metal planes that are the exact right size and kind for the Godzilla. Now, when I found those at that old antique mall, I immediately went and bought all of them because they're exactly perfect for the Godzilla, like for the play field or a topper. And I stripped them and painted them to match the back glass. They have the gray with the red striping. But I have like 12 of them. No, I don't need 12 of those. Should I take those down? Like I could take those down and sell them whatever, just $10 each or $15 each and just kind of say these are 1950s die-cast metal planes. Use them however you want to for your Godzilla. Why not? I could keep some. Yep. Half, probably. Yep. And then take all the rest. Yeah, I guess I could do that. And then the last thing I was thinking of was those, I have those digital, like, what are they called? Like, spectra? Like a reader. Like a. It has a dot matrix that you can put, like, messages in. Now, here's the weird thing about those. Those do have a pinball tie-in. there was there's certain machines that those are actually made to interface with they link into the actual machines and it's the topper oh so you would put that on like a piece of board above it and it would directly link into the machines and it would give it gives the high scores and all that kind of stuff oh i don't know which machines i can never get that answer i tried asking Pinside, but we all know how that goes. Only nonsense comes out of Pinside. You're never getting an actual answer for anything. It's not like a place where you go for real things, except for the Secret Santa. That's the only real thing that's ever happened or come out of Pinside. So I tried to get the list of what machines this could be used with to gauge will I ever have one of those, or should I put it up for sale? They're kind of cool. I don't know if I have two of them or three of them I remember I have one I sold and it went really quickly because it's a cool thing for an arcade because I have the discs and I have the remotes so you can type in your custom message like Zenbones Arcade yes sure so I don know I kind of think I would regret getting rid of those but maybe not but do you need three of them Well that the thing Maybe if I have two of them I keep them If I have three of them, I'll sell one. I don't know why I'd want two of them. I'd probably only ever want one of them. Right. Or none of them, really. I don't know. I should look what they go for and then just, yeah, I know. I have a tough time getting rid of stuff. I know. That's so weird. Oh, do you? Yeah. Maybe you do too. I do. Okay. I know. Okay, just checking. so what are you looking forward to mostly oh there's so much yeah don't overhype it that's the problem i started overhyping in my brain i'm like settle down i'm looking forward to all the factory tours for sure oh i know i know i know um i feel like because of what we do here in the show yeah we like should know we should have like gone through all these factories and met these people right it gives a better basis you know you're you're you know them then you've seen their their entire enterprise and said, yeah, I dig you. I dig that. That's cool. You know, and we're never too hard on anybody. No. And I think, like, we, I think we're more Stern fans because we've met Gary and we've been at a party where he was. Yeah. And I love their machines. Right. Of course. But is that because we know more about Stern than we do about the other ones? Possibly. Yeah, probably. Could it be Insider Connect related? Probably. 1,000%. I'm not good at math with 1,000 percentage points. No, but you know what I mean. Yeah, I know. You know. It'll be great. And it's something like we actually, we were going to go to Florida, Freeplay Florida, because we had to go back to our old stomping ground sooner or later. Right, if it's still there. And then we heard of the 40th, and then we started hearing about all these things that were going on with it, and we actually made this. This is our vacation this year. Now, we went to California earlier in the year. No, that was last year. Oh, was it late last year? Okay. Oh, that's right. Almost a year ago. Yeah, almost a year ago. So then this was going to be it. Once we heard about it, we were like, let's just go all in. Yeah. So we took the whole week. We're there the whole week. It's going to be pretty exciting. We're going to take our stickers, like we always said. If we see people that have our pinball junk drawer swag on from the Silver Ball swag, we'll run up and give you stickers and excitedly say thanks for listening. Or if you secretly know who we are and tell us who we are, you'll get a sticker. We won't be wearing that swag because we ordered it too late. Yeah, that's right, folks. That was the joke at the beginning of the top of the hour. We're leaving Tuesday, and it's arriving Wednesday. I was like, oh, no, we forgot to order our own crap. And you better believe we didn't. I almost told you to have them send it to the. I thought about it, to the hotel. Yeah, the hotel. And I was like, oh, I don't know. What if it comes and it's late and it doesn't arrive before we leave? Nah, they just redirect it. You know the mail. Also, you've got to wash stuff. I'm not going to just get something and not wash it. Exactly. But I will have my Craft Brew Sally patch that I had made. Wow, there you go. I'm so excited. So are you going to put that on your backpack? My beer backpack, yes. Okay. So there will be hints. Yep. You know, but that's – but I also was going to – we were ordering those shirts and I was kind of like, is this like you're that guy that wears the band shirt to the band concert? What was that, PC? I forget. Wasn't that PC? I don't remember. It was a movie. It was an old movie, and the guy jokingly said, you're the guy that wears the – don't be that guy. The guy that wears the band's shirt to the band's concert. I was like, eh, that's kind of doing that. You're kind of self-grandizing yourself. No, but there are people out there that do that. I know. Yeah, they're called successful. What can I tell you? I don't know. What are you looking forward to the most? Oh, for sure I want to put time on these machines, those new ones. Yeah. I haven't seen some of these. And, of course, meeting up with everybody. Yeah, I'm excited to meet all the poor men. Yeah, seeing them again. It's been a couple years. Yep. You know, I remember this setting being very fun. Yep. You know, and I don't... We'll see. And we're going to get to go to the interium. Yes. I've never been there before. That's exciting. We get to go there twice. Yep, and then we have the medium mixer that we were actually... I did the graphics. I worked with Colin from Kineticist, and I was the guy that did the banner, the table cards, and the lanyards. I did the graphics for that, so that's kind of going to be exciting. That's neat. Yeah. Don't tell me anything you don't like about it. Yeah. I don't care. He already knows. I'm the graphic artist, meaning I put this stuff together in a coherent way and make sure that it can print. I didn't do a lot of the design. Some of the design I did, but it was fun. Yeah. It was, you know, a big shout out to Colin and all he's doing for the media mixture. That's really cool. Mm-hmm. You know, like some of these guys are local guys that we talked about wanting to meet. Yes. Like, I just haven't met some of the people that are in our own state doing this. You know, we met Don, of course, from Don's Pinball. Yes. We've never met a lot of the crews, a lot of the other people that are out in this area, believe it or not. And so hopefully we'll meet some of them. Mm-hmm. And then maybe we'll be like, oh, I didn't really have to meet them. or maybe we will right so that's that'll be fun you know and then just I really want to get some time in on these machines I'm hoping that earlier in the week we'll be able to get some quiet time with machines because I know you know Friday Friday Saturday you can forget it yeah you'll play the old ones that no one likes like you know maybe we'll find that sad beat up old Austin Powers and we'll be able to play that a couple times right maybe we'll meet there who owns it and see if we can buy it for like a grand. Be like just give this to me for a thousand bucks I will give you cash We save it Let us save this Poor destroyed thing Oh my goodness No it wasn that bad But it could use my gentle touch Because I actually had one of the best games of my life on that. That's the last time we went to Glow in the Park. Glow in the Park, yeah. They have a really nice lineup of pinball machines. If you're ever in Oshkosh, hit up Glow in the Park. It's like a miniature golf place. Indoor miniature golf. Indoor miniature golf. glow in the dark miniature golf there you go it has some slamming pinball machines oh my god such good machines yes and we always seem to do well when we play there so yes maybe you will too it's a magical place and i jokingly also said that we've over packed for because oh my god i we packed i think we could literally live there there might be as much in the in in our bags as far as like extras and food and stuff than actually we have in our house i don't know we the last time we went to MGC, we got stuck a couple times without having food at the end of the night. Yeah. Because we kind of like drink first and then eat later. Much later. Yeah. And there isn't much open later in Milwaukee. No, no. We have packed probably a suitcase full of snacks. And I bought a five-cup Black & Decker coffee maker. Yeah. I'm a little particular about my coffee. and the reality is like those hotel ones that use that little like pre-bagged crap it's terrible and we end up going to like the starbucks and i was like well the price of the bag of coffee and the coffee maker and the replacement thing is less than one trip to starbucks right so you know because you get like three coffees and then fill the thermos up and then i get a proofy coffee and then six hundred dollars that's like six hundred dollars right so we're actually we're bringing up a coffee maker it's just too much we really went too far but that's okay hey we like what we like and no kidding we're going to be comfortable for a week i'm not installing a a shower seat but i we have we have uh the the japanese toilet seats on our toilets yes i'm not bringing one of those to install but i would and that is horrible i thought about it but it's too much so uh that i will let slide right and we'll use just commoners so sad all right um anything else other than uh i'm also looking forward to getting to see dan and the uh project pinball oh my god they're gonna have some of the machines there that have been um yeah altered i guess is i don't know not altered or made made uh made user friendly for everyone, even with special needs people. So that's going to be cool to see. I know I've heard about some of that. I think they're doing a tournament with those machines. And they even have, I know they have an auction already started. Yeah, a silent auction. Silent auction. So if there's some stuff you want to get a hold of, it's going to a good cause, so why not? Projectpinball.org. We always give their information out because it's just something we believe in and we know Dan is a super guy. so I think this week they dedicated two pinball machines in one day yeah which is awesome that's cool anything you know it's making it making the world a better place what can I say it is alright let's wrap it up you got anything else no no me either oh I guess we're going to skip the beer no we can we can just I don't have like a actual beer review show for this week but so then I'm not dropping in the official no you don't have to okay but I'm just putting out a call for anyone that lives in the Pliny the Elder area. I can list the states. They are Washington State, Oregon, California, Nevada, Colorado, Pennsylvania, or Maine. That's a lot of states. Yes, but not here. That was kind of so. If you live in any of those states and you have access to Pliny the Elder and you're coming to Expo, I would appreciate if you would bring one with. Do a call out to the fans. Can you hook Crack through Sally up? She'll give you a sticker. I will pay for the beer and give you a sticker. Let's not be crazy if we have all of a sudden 300 people give you this beer and you taste the first one and you're like, this beer kind of sucks. You're going to be like, oh, no, I have 300 of these beers. Hey, everyone, free beer. I guess that's the worst case scenario. So there you have it, Cracker Sally. We are going to be bringing some of our own, not some of our own. We're bringing booze, of course. This is an event. Glenn thought it would be a fun idea to have a beer journal review taste tester while we're there. Why not? We have a couple of Wisconsin Packers, well, Green Bay Packers beers coming with. And we'll bring a nice, healthy assortment. So maybe the thing is you bring in and you do like a little swap. If somebody brings you the Pliny. Pliny? Pliny the Elder. Pliny the Elder. Maybe you go, okay, well, here's your choices. And you have your little stash. Yeah. Maybe. I don't know. We'll see. It'll be interesting at the very least. All right. That's it. Well, thanks, everyone, for listening. We will, of course, give you an awesome update when we hopefully get back safe and sound from this awesome adventure. Pinball Juncher out. That's it, man. Game over, man. Game over.
