## Transcript

We're here in Nashville, Tennessee for Buckfest 2025.
Welcome everyone to the 2025 Big Buck World Championship.
This is the 18th year they put this event on and right now they're putting the final touches on the event. In a couple of moments, a ton of people are going to come on through. But before we get into all that, what is Buckfest 2025? 128 of the best buck hunter players in the world come here to compete for a big prize.
I would love for everybody that plays Big Buck Hunter to experience this. This year is our 25th anniversary and just excited about the community that's been built around Big Buck Hunter. It started out as a pretty humble tournament 18 years ago and it's grown into this big event. It's amazing to watch everybody play. It is a giant party. There's concerts. There's a free play arcade. just to break up the competitive buck hunter action. There's a band that'll come and play. Like every two or three songs, everyone gets super into it and all the competitors and the spectators come over here, have a good time. So, it's just another thing to add to the show. There's a ton of stuff here to keep you busy. And guess what? Anybody can come in.
The targets are ready. Let's meet your competitors.
There's somebody from California that came in with their kid for literally just the amateur open.
Oh, cool. All right.
I was like, that's crazy. That's awesome.
I'm here at the Buckfest. Um, I'm here for Amateur Open. I am not a professional by any means.
We want to honor the community that's built around the game and how much they put into it. And I think it is a great way for us as game creators to meet who plays the game and then just also just celebrate them.
The energy here is just insane. Arcade games are everywhere.
Total, we give away $125,000 and this is the culmination of an entire year of qualifying. Um, I'm just excited for the socialization, the excitement, and the anticipation of who's going to win.
We're going to buck and go today.
The doors are about to open in literally 60 seconds and everyone's going to come into the free play arcade for registration. They will not be able to go into the main room for about 45 minutes. Papy's free play arcade is packed. Players are sharpening their skills on Big Buck Hunter, getting ready for the main event. But that's not all. There's action everywhere. There's hoops flying in NBA Superstars,
getting launched in Angry Birds, and even a chance to take to the skies in Top Gun Maverick. You've got Minecraft, Halo, and then there's me tucked in the corner, finding the only pinball machine in this place. You'll never guess the theme. It's Buck Hunter.
Can I grab a beer from you?
Absolutely.
All right. Thank you. Appreciate it. Cheers. Thank you, buddy. So, there's tons of stuff for you to do. All the games are on free play and there's even a bar in here so you can kind of drink and hang out before going into the main area.
A fawn is a baby deer.
Yeah, got it. I know that. I knew all that. I don't even I told you that. So, it's cool.
Oh, okay. All right.
I'm glad you know now because I like to educate you on stuff. Okay. So, we're in the green room area backstage and it's pretty cool cuz we have our own little room where we can set up, grab our microphones and stuff like that. But, um Oh, look what's happening in here. He's uh practicing to be on stage in a minute. This is Dave Snipes. He gets into character here. Come on. Check this out. Just come real quick. [Music]
Welcome to Buckfest 2025, baby.
Okay, so I was talking to a lot of the players and I know if it was me, I'd be really stressed out. There's 128 of them, but everyone seems pretty calm and cool. Big Buck Hunter is a bar game, so you tend to drink. And I'm trying to get a feel for if like the people that compete drink beforehand. I don't know. I feel like I would play worse if I drink.
A good strategy is making sure your opponent drinks a lot before you compete against them. So once I see the bracket, I'm looking for that person. Yeah,
he went a lot less time. He went kind of crazy.
Can I top it a little bit? [Music] [Applause] [Music] have one more. Just one more. That's perfect. Thank you. Cheers. There's also a local distillery here, Green Bryer. I don't know about you, but I love bourbon. They actually have an old-fashioned but in frozen form, and they're really good. And if you kind of sweet talk them, they'll top it off with a little more whiskey to kind of get you feeling good.
Big world championship. If you don't win, at least you'll be drunk as well. you know. Oh yeah. [Music] [Applause] Domin here at 61. There's a lot more to do at Buckfest other than watching the competition. For instance, there's an outpost over there with vendors and you can buy things from local shops, but also there's a guy doing tattoos. Now, I thought they were temporary tattoos. Temporary tattoos, right? No, they're permanent tattoos. Oh [ __ ] he's doing actual C cuz I was going to do it for my YouTube video, but I'm like I thought they were I didn't realize they were actual tattoos.
Can I get one that's small?
Did I get a tattoo? I mean,
oh my god.
All right. Well, now we know.
If a tattoo feels like an extreme way to show your Buck Hunter appreciation, don't worry. There's another option. Right here at the show, there's a full Buck Hunter Museum showcasing all three generations of the game that started it all. The first two use classic CRT monitors, that old school glow that we all remember. But the latest generation, it's powered by modern infrared light gun technology and LCD displays. And the best part, you can play all three generations side by side right here at Buckfest.
Dude, they do real tattoos. I'm thinking it's like some temporary [ __ ] What? Okay, we are here at the general store. This is really cool. If you're a VIP or a player, you can come pick up a free t-shirt. Uh, you also got these really cool bandanas. Anybody has those. They're green and orange. I got one on. Get into the vibe of the event. Keystone sponsors the event. So, there's a bunch of Keystone koozies. There's also a little Keystone thing you can put on your table, but at the back of it, you can sign up to be a player yourself. So, if you're interested in being in the tournament, you can get a player profile. There's also a raffle over there. So, there's a lot of stuff you'll find in the store. Now, if you're not a VIP or a player, uh, you can actually buy the merchandise, too. There's hats and t-shirts, like I said. So, this will obviously be different every year, but it's where you can come to get some Buck Hunter merchandise. Behind me, you have the silent auction. So, you take this QR, you scan this, and then you can see all the items that are available in the auction. And this year, there's some really cool stuff. There's this custom guitar by Eric Moby. He's actually going to be here today. This is a one-of-a-kind item. No more of these are going to be made. There's this really cool LED sign. So, if you're interested in any of this stuff, anytime you go to Buckfest, they will have stuff like this. So, go check out the silent auction. Really cool and some awesome things you can get your hands on. When the dust settles and the last shots fired, one competitor will stand victorious, taking home this trophy and $25,000 in cash. the program going on all four.
So, I'm in the high-end TV production truck right now. This is where all the magic happens. So, anytime they're cutting between player cam to the broadcast booth, it all happens right here. I'm so impressed with the amount of detail that goes into this event. This is very complex to host an event like this. As a matter of fact, I'm going to show you something really cool out on the show floor as to how they get the direct video feed back into the production truck. So, each one of the Buck Hunter games behind me has a custom PC on the side of it. And the purpose of that is so it can stream it back to the production booth we were just in. So this way if a player is on game 1 2 3 4 5, they can keep cutting between so that John Youssi every bit of the action. It also helps the people locally here kind of keep track of their favorite player. So at first glance, these all look like regular stock Buck Hunter games, but you'll notice there's a little camera hidden right here. This is the player cam. So you can get that perspective of people shooting their guns. So, it kind of adds to the intimacy and it feels like you're right there with them playing the game. Up here is the main broadcast area. So, everybody that's commentating the event stays right here. And this is what John Youssi if you're watching the live stream online. They've got their show notes. They have a screen in front of them so they know all the action that's going on at any time. So, they can cut between players to keep the action exciting. These guys have their priorities straight. Get another beer and go. Sh. He's sleeping. [Music] Today is the day where everything matters because you win, you move on, you lose, you go home. And this is what is at the beautiful Happy John here rotating on display. The last winner, 2024 Rucker.
If you want to follow the action throughout the day, this board right here will tell you where each competitor is at. So yesterday was a big deal because if you get one loss, then today you have to keep winning cuz one time and you're out. But this is where you can keep track of all of that. And there's a lot at stake. Like I said earlier, there's 125,000 in overall prizes. You want to do the best you can. But here's the thing. Everyone wins a little something. Even the person in last place gets a prize. So I'm up here in the VIP lounge. If you pay a little extra, you get this little wristband. It gives you free food and drink. You get access to the food trucks, but the food truck provides a little area right below here. It was Hattie Bees yesterday. If you like Nashville hot chicken, oh my gosh, so so good. So, if you want to take a break from the floor cuz you're hungry or whatever, they got mac and cheese, hot dogs, Hattie Bees, tons of options. I think they even have ice cream today. So, take a load off, hang out here, eat some food, and then go back in. And there's a private bar up here. Little area to hang out if you just need a couple minutes to just regroup before you go down and get back to the action. For those of us who aren't quite pro level, there's an amateur competition as well. Your shot to jump in and feel the action for yourself.
Oh, shoot. I hit the I had the
There were 32 of us in total and yeah, I'll admit it. I got a little nervous, but no reason to be. But hey, it's a competition, right? I'm really glad I did it, though. The energy, the camaraderie, everyone was just awesome. Win or lose, it just feels great to be a part of it. And hey, I snagged a win in one of my games. So, yeah, I'm calling that a victory.
Oh my god, I shot a dough again. The tension is thick. Every moment heavier than the last. Two relentless days of competition have led to this moment. I've been part of so many gaming communities over the years, but I've never witnessed anything quite like this. In competition, it's easy to get caught up in the wins and losses. Yet, here it's different. Even in defeat, there's respect. Even in victory, there's humility. The sense of camaraderie, friendship, and genuine support these players show one another is truly something special. Fed has been dominant all weekend long. He carved his path through the winners bracket and in round 15 handed Vecennia Jordan his only loss, sending him into the reloaded bracket. But Vecennia Jordan didn't back down. He fought his way back one match at a time, showing the same drive that made him the rookie division winner just three years ago. Now he's back on the main stage for the championship. It's the rematch everyone wanted. $25,000, two players, one final match. Will Vecennia Jordan complete his comeback and take it all? Or will Fed stay undefeated and finish what he started? The answer is just moments away. [Music] And by God, he has done just that. Ladies and gentlemen, congratulations to your 2025 Big Buck World Championship winner. It's Vecennia Jordan Class. [Music] [Applause] [Music]
Right there on the doorstep for years. Rookie of the year. Right there last year. This year you finally did it. Congratulations. Put your hands on Happy Pamp. Give me that. [Applause] That's it. Bunkfest 205 is a wrap. We'll see you next time. [Applause] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music]
