## Analysis

A Kaneda's Pinball Podcast host provides critical analysis of Jersey Jack Pinball's Harry Potter gameplay footage, arguing that while the game is mechanically sound, it exemplifies JJP's signature design philosophy of overwhelming visual and audio density. The host criticizes the muted video clips (80-90% of scenes lack synced dialogue), comparing the aesthetic to a slot machine rather than authentic Harry Potter film integration, and contends that the game lacks the emotional character moments and scene recreation found in other themed pinball machines.

### Key Claims

- [HIGH] 80-90% of Harry Potter clips are muted with no dialogue or character interaction — _Host directly observed gameplay footage and analyzed video clip integration; stated 'probably 90% and the other two are muted'_
- [HIGH] Harry Potter's visual and audio design resembles a slot machine due to overwhelming sensory input — _Host repeatedly emphasized 'everything louder than everything else,' comparing aesthetic to casino design philosophy_
- [MEDIUM] JJP likely purchased only 5 minutes of licensed movie footage for the game — _Host speculated: 'I think they probably bought like five minutes of footage because this is the thing you can buy a certain amount of footage'_
- [MEDIUM] Harry Potter gameplay mechanics are solid but less interesting than Foo Fighters, X-Men, King Kong, or Godzilla — _Host comparative assessment of playfield layout and shot design_
- [HIGH] Muted clips appear primarily during specific moments (ball locks, multiball starts, jackpots) rather than throughout modes — _Host analyzed clip placement: 'they're just playing you the Harry Potter movies... It's happening in very specific moments like a ball lock or the start of a multiball'_
- [MEDIUM] The game feels similar to Jersey Jack's Avatar in formula and execution — _Host stated 'This is Avatar all over again. It's the same formula. It looks exactly the same.'_
- [MEDIUM] Batman TV show pinball recreates scenes with character dialogue and sequenced moments; Harry Potter does not — _Host used Batman as a contrasting example of proper theme integration with dialogue sequences_
- [MEDIUM] David Thiel's audio design does not overcome the slot-machine aesthetic created by visual overload — _Host acknowledged Thiel's involvement but said 'it still feels like you're walking into a casino'_

### Sentiment

**Negative** (-0.65) — Host is critical of Harry Potter's design philosophy and execution, particularly regarding theme integration and sensory overload. However, acknowledges the game is mechanically solid and 'a fun game' to shoot, creating a mixed but net-negative assessment. Host respects those with different preferences but stands firm in personal disappointment with JJP's approach.

### Signals

- **[gameplay_signal]** Host criticizes Harry Potter for poor theme integration due to muted dialogue clips (80-90%), lack of character interaction, and sensory overload that obscures narrative moments from films (confidence: high) — Host watched 14-min gameplay video twice, analyzed clip placement, compared to Batman TV show pinball as gold standard for dialogue sequencing
- **[design_philosophy]** Harry Potter exemplifies JJP's signature design approach: overwhelming visual/audio density on playfield and screen, creating slot-machine-like aesthetic rather than narrative immersion (confidence: high) — 'Everything louder than everything else...it feels like Wizard of Oz on crack...it still sounds a lot like Willy Wonka...casino vibe'
- **[licensing_signal]** Host speculates JJP purchased approximately 5 minutes of licensed movie footage, resulting in muted clips during modes and synced audio only during specific moments (locks, multiballs, jackpots) (confidence: medium) — 'I think they probably bought like five minutes of footage...specific themes'
- **[product_concern]** Harry Potter lacks emotional connection to source material; no character dialogue during modes, no scene recreation with character interaction, diminishes thematic authenticity despite premium pricing (confidence: high) — Host noted only heard Harry Potter speak once in 5 minutes of gameplay; compared unfavorably to Batman pinball's character-driven scene recreation
- **[comparative_market_signal]** Different manufacturers approach licensed themes differently: Stern provides raw assets (Jaws, Godzilla) or animations (King Kong); JJP uses dense, layered visual/audio approach; differences affect player experience and theme authenticity perception (confidence: medium) — Host contrasted Stern's approach with JJP's; predicted upcoming Stern Predator will have similar asset limitations
- **[sentiment_shift]** Host expressed pre-gameplay concerns about whether JJP would successfully integrate Harry Potter into pinball form; post-gameplay analysis confirms initial skepticism was warranted (confidence: medium) — 'I know how I felt going into this game. I was worried that they weren't going to take the movie and make the pinball machine in a fun way'
- **[community_signal]** Host pushes back against Pinside community discussion suggesting Harry Potter has all assets synced to movie; argues community is overstating synchronization and should recognize clip limitations (confidence: high) — 'Please we need to stop saying they've got the assets synced up from the movie. It's very rarely happening in the game.'
- **[design_innovation]** While gameplay mechanics are solid, Harry Potter's playfield design is not as compelling or interesting as other recent titles (Foo Fighters, X-Men, King Kong, Godzilla) for the premium price tier (confidence: medium) — Host compared shooting interest across multiple games; Harry Potter 'doesn't look way more interesting than Avatar to shoot'
- **[competitive_signal]** Host suggests JJP lacks design talent/philosophy comparable to Nintendo; implies company prioritizes sensory complexity over user experience clarity and narrative coherence (confidence: low) — 'Jersey Jack...I don't think this company really truly understands...they need to go work at Nintendo for a little bit'
- **[content_signal]** Host addressing launch-week hype cycle dynamics; notes tendency for community to over-praise new releases and urges more balanced, critical analysis of actual features vs. perceived features (confidence: medium) — 'This is always what happens with Launch Week...Look, I'm trying to be a little bit balanced here'
- **[product_strategy]** Host questions premium pricing ($10k-$15k) given actual feature set; suggests players should focus on enjoying the game rather than accepting marketing claims about asset synchronization (confidence: medium) — 'People $10,000 to $15,000 more reason to just buy the $10,000 version, have some fun'

Everything louder than everything else Sit up, sit up, sit up, sit up, sit up, sit up, sit up Welcome to Ginnadius Pinball Podcast Round 2 Harry Potter Gameplay There was like a 14 minute video of Mr. Joe Katz playing the machine We got to see the layout in action We got to see the clips, we got to see or hear the music, we got to see everything on that screen, how it's gonna connect to the world of Harry Potter. Have they nailed it? Is this the theme integrated Harry Potter masterpiece? Is this the Jersey Jack game that's finally gonna figure out how to take a movie and put it into pinball form and not make it feel like a slot machine? I watchedAllOfIt and I'm just here to tell you right now, I think this is the most Jersey Jack pinball of all time. Jersey Jack with Harry Potter made the most Jersey Jack pin ever. And what I mean by that, and the opening song to this show is how I feel. It's just so much happening at once and I'm watching the gameplay, which by the way is fine. The game was like OMG. It was good. It was good. It looks like a fun game to shoot. It doesn't look like anywhere near as like interesting as a game maybe like Foo Fighters or a game like X-Men or a game like King Kong or Godzilla. But for a Jersey Jack game, it looks like a fun shooter. So I'm going to give everybody that. But it doesn't look any better. I'm just going to say this. It doesn't look better than Elton John to shoot. It doesn't look way more interesting than Avatar to shoot. But it looks like it's gonna be a fun game. That's not the thing that I just can't get over. And I'm realizing this, that every pinball company makes games the way they want to make it. And Stern, when they make a movie pin, unless they are doing animated stuff like Jurassic Park, they're gonna give you the assets from the property the way you want it. Like Jaws does it. Like Godzilla doesn't. And as I'm looking at this game, the reason why it's the most J.J.P. Pin ever from J.J.P. It feels like Wizard of Oz on crack. There's so much happening on the screen and I'm just here to tell you right now ladies and gentlemen because I was on Pinside and I read something and it annoyed me because the answer is somewhere in the middle and someone wrote synced up clips with the movie. Check it has it. Gang, 80% or more of the clips in this game, probably 90% and the other two are muted. You are not hearing what's happening in the scene. Whether it's a flying car, when the kids are together, you're not hearing it. What they got in this game is like in Willy Wonka, the only time he syncs up is when the elevator scene happens. That's it. What they got here gang, and nobody wants to even like think, this is what's frustrating to me, it's like, do I have to be the only one who looks at this stuff and says, hey wait a minute, why am I seeing in all of this, All of these modes none of the kids talk to each other They not talking to each other they not recreating the scenes they not playing back for us The iconic scenes from the movie where the characters are actually connected with each other through dialogue It not happening What they did do when you do see the clips synced up look at where that happening It happening in very specific moments like a ball lock or the start of a multiball or like a jackpot That when John Youssi it So you know what they done everybody Like everyone needs to realize instead of having all of the assets they can just play you the Harry Potter movies They can They don have permission to do that and the main point is that they can't show you the scenes as they happen in the movie and break them up into like a sequence. Have you ever played Batman and when you start a minor Villain mode and let's say you're in like the King Tut mode, they're just playing back for us all those different minor Villain moments from the TV show in the sequence that those moments happened. So if Harry and his friends are about to do something, we're not seeing like that 5 or 10-minute scene of the movie The movie broken up into a mode in which each shot unlocks the next sequence in that moment from the movie where they're talking to each other, where there's sound effects from the movie. It's all muted again, everybody. And I don't know why people, if they see a little bit of it synced up, people are just saying, oh yeah, they got it all. It's all synced up. All the assets are in there. And again, this is just how Jersey Jack does it. This is how they integrate a property and an IP into pinball. Spuins pinball. Either you like this or you don't and it's okay. I dont like this kind of theme integration. I dont like seven things happening on the screen at once. I watched the gameplay video twice. I first watched it just for the physical gameplay and then I watched it to stare at what's on the screen and OMG, when you just watch the screen, it is everything louder than everything else. Everything is just crashing on top of each other. There's no pause and that's why even though David Thiel is on board, I'm just gonna say this, it still feels like you're walking into a casino. It feels like a slot machine because what is a slot machine trying to do? Just throw everything at you at once. It's trying to blitz you and overload you with visual things, with audio things, with video clips. That's what's happening here. Are you gonna tell me that any of this feels like the movies? Like if you're in a slow down intimate moment of the movie, The kids are exploring Hogwarts or they're battling. It's all just lit up all the time as loud as possible. Everything's going on all at once and everything's flying across the screen. Dependinging on what you're hitting, everything's just crashing all over itself and that's your theme integration and then people are saying theme integration isn't A+. So I guess you just don't want synced up movies. I guess you don't want a pinball machine to recreate as closely as possible The moment you remember from the film. This is Avatar all over again. It's the same formula. It looks exactly the same. And I'm sorry, but you know how I felt going into this game. I was worried that they weren't going to take the movie and make the pinball machine in a fun way. Pull us through the journey of these kids in which we would actually hear the connection and the emotion and the moments that these characters are on screen together. I literally watched this for 5 minutes I think I only heard Harry Potter talk once And you telling me that that how you create theme integration with Harry Potter pinball And again it probably all a licensing thing And that why it so challenging I just don find that very appealing And it Jersey Jack style It feels more like a role game than anything else Look different strokes for different folks Some people love this some people love the amount of stuff they love the amount of complexity that available they love seeing all that stuff on the screen people would argue whence you get used to it it doesn feel very confusing but just seeing it again I just feel like if you close your eyes it still sounds a lot like Willy Wonka it just got that casino vibe like I sorry am I wrong what am I missing The game is a bit of a mess, but it's still a good game. The gameplay looks good, but it's really difficult not to just praise and chill this machine right now. This is always what happens with Launch Week. Look, I'm trying to be a little bit balanced here, guys. I just, I just, when I look at this game, and I get Guns N' Roses is a dog as a gameplay, but Guns N' Roses, the way it uses the screen is so much better. I just would prefer more of like full screen movie clips. Yeah, it happens every once in a while, but for the most part, I'm literally looking right now at a screen grab of what's going on on this game all at once. You got so much happening on the screen that I just don't get it. I do think where Jersey Jack struggles and I mean this and I don't know what they do. They need to go like work at Nintendo for a little bit because I just don't think this company really truly understands how or other talent anchroprotektivus or design renamed by the the pandemic perseverance context of time, Shadowrism be a Closed your eyes and listen to the gameplay of this game. And you tell me that this feels like you're Harry Potter, you're synced up with your friends, and you're moving through the movie, and you're getting to experience what's in the film. I'm just gonna play for you now. I'm just gonna play right now. Let's just play three minutes of the gameplay stream. There are starting modes, they're doing things. You tell me you're hearing like the world of Harry Potter. Here I'm shooting a bright little bit to get the final lock for Golden Trio Multiball.fallout Game Decision has been made to include the playing stage as paintings is yet to be releasedrise DOM snaarie한ODay, v čaapksőnă kýtý полезn While being released sabeskela koich shading n pas recorder recept Dz pascalan pictures iz a 2001 special cards program and other bladeigor he seus DAIFIK andare level Dunno heres Niagara suit Daifika buttfoundu, Hand age reference and TALENGNAN cajolneенный PUBGentes in airsoft mode is labelled which office makes timement. Pinball, Pinball, Pinball, Pinball, Pinball, On the count of three, cast your charms to disarm your opponent, only to disarm. We can't do that! Clips and clipboard combination I mean, look, it's Jersey Jack. I mean, that's how they do it. To me, it still sounds very much like a slot Machine and it's just all these booms and bobs and chimes and stuff. And to me, I'm just not feeling any of like what the movies are like. I'm sorry, but when you do this and you remove the moments that the film is famous for, that's where it becomes a little soulless, a little All these are as jeep nexus, and just being there to gargle at the bottom. If you are into this, I'm happy for you. I AM. I would just like to see more straight, one to one theme integration, and I guess we're just not going to get it. I guess the licensing is too hard. This is just how Jersey Jack theme integrates. I don't like when Stern does animations like King Kong. I think for this much money you want to see all the assets. I think we're about to see Predator with no Arnold. It's going to suffer from the same thing. and it's just the way it is. Oh people $10,000 to $15,000 more reason to just buy the $10,000 version, have some fun. But please we need to stop saying they've got the assets synced up from the movie. It's very rarely happening in the game. I think they probably bought like five minutes of footage because this is the thing you can buy a certain amount of footage and I think that's what they did. They did specific themes because if they had the drinksimporte at Knapp Arcade, Spike 2 Knapp Arcade, Spike 2
