- **[product_strategy]** Jersey Jack Pinball uses limited collector's edition production with distributor gatekeeping for Toy Story release; Ken Cromwell communicated availability strategy to interested buyers through recorded messaging. (confidence: medium) — Don recounts Ken Cromwell's message about getting on distributor lists for limited collector's editions with very few units available
- **[code_update]** Final code update planned soon for Guns N' Roses, potentially to revive secondary market activity and player engagement. (confidence: medium) — Don states 'I will say this about Guns N' Roses. It sounds like they're going to do a final code update here soon.'
- **[design_innovation]** Guns N' Roses Premium Edition features innovative mechanical design elements including can lights around stage on upper playfield and bass guitar wire form ramp with multiple ball paths. (confidence: high) — Don praises the creative ramp design and describes watching can lights and bass guitar wire form as compelling design choices that motivated purchase
- **[content_signal]** Don's normal podcast production cadence (every 2-3 days) was disrupted for 7 days due to intensive custom pinball cabinet building project. (confidence: high) — Don explains his absence: 'Normally I have a show up every two to three days, and I think it's been about seven now since I've put anything up.'
- **[personnel_signal]** Custom pinball builders (Aaron from Fast Pinball, Ed who built Ghost in the Shell) are influential figures inspiring other community members to pursue DIY machine building. (confidence: high) — Don's decision to build custom cabinet was directly inspired by meeting Aaron and knowing Ed, stating 'I kind of want to be one of these guys. I want to crack the code.'

I'm just like looking at these guys, these makers.'

(confidence: high) — Don describes finding aftermarket components: 'I found the guy that was selling the little tracing travel lights... I found a guy selling light bars... I found Artblades at Pinball Expo'

(confidence: medium) — Don observes abundant GNR LE availability on secondary market and associates with broader market downturn affecting all games
- **[business_signal]** Jersey Jack Pinball's post-GNR LE strategy involved pursuing major licensed IP (Toy Story) while managing collector's edition availability through distributor gatekeeping. He gets himself two entries and actually each one of those entries has won him a translite so far. What I do is I take everybody that's current on the Patreon. They each are assigned a number and then that goes into the drawing. And if you were at PrestigePartner or higher at the producer level, I then go ahead and add more numbers and give you that second entry. All these are just a few of the things that I like to spoil my Patreon members. So, I don't have any rules on how many times you can win. It's a fresh drawing every time, man. That's fate. But watching those can lights around the stage that's in the limited edition version, the upper playfield, and I'm telling you, the bass guitar wire form. That's what did it, man. I had to have that. So he was offering me my $4,400 trade-in value, $11,000 for this game. It was going to cost me like $6,800. And for me at the time, and he also said he'll come out, he'll pick up Batman and he'll drop this off. I'm like, okay, that works. And so that's what we ended up doing. At the time, I considered the money that I had put into Batman as kind of lost money, right? I wasn't in this whole, you know, get a pinball machine in, it keeps some value, sell it, flip it. Such a fabulous weekend made me in the mood to come down to EVE contact you never used to drill working at one ad to record a bunch of they didn have the playfield issues and have any pooling problems at all And I got it I got it So they brought the game over, escalated it downstairs in the new house. I had picked up a virtual pinball machine. I think I'll talk about that in episode number three of this storytime with Don, but I really want to do Guns N' Roses now. You know, so we get the game down here. He sends a tech over to do it, opens it up, sets the whole thing up for us. Christianity The game does so well, it's still the best light show in pinball, man. And, you know, there's 30-something songs in here. Slash himself was involved in the production of it. You know, you get a random platinum record spinning disc. This week's winners are from the Topper from Jersey Jack. I found the guy that was selling the little tracing travel lights that go on it as well, so like the marquee lights go around the circle. I was very proud of that. I found a guy selling light bars that would go underneath the machine behind the backbox to replicate what's on the collector's edition of Guns N' Roses. And fortunately, the game's done well for him. It's held up. But now he's at the point now, it's been a year and a half or so, and he's now at the point that he wants to move on to something else. He got himself a Foo Fighters, but he wants to get something else there and just kind of sell the Guns N' Roses. So he's listed it for $9,000, and it's just been sitting on the market. Now, the market for Guns N' Roses LE is down. The market for everything is down. But I mean, like the price for that game is down around $7,000, honestly. This week's guest, John Papadiuk, Black Water Podcast, Twippies Awards, transliteelectronic panel in backbox that is backlit during playlvaniaundercab.com. And so when I said $10,000, like that's what the price was to me to sell it. You know, if you would offer B9500, I would have been like, I'm going to keep it. I really want to keep it. I like this game. You know, I wasn't trying to, you know, hose the guy out of money or anything. I had money in the game, you know, but at the time, $10,000 was my price. He was okay with it, you know, and now, you know, the poor guy's gonna be lucky to get seven. But I guess I'll put this out there. If anybody wants a Guns N' Roses limited edition, he's asked me to kind of advertise it a bit for him. It's still a great game, low plays. It's just, you know, I'm finished with it. He's finished with it. I will tell you this to kind of bookend my feelings on Guns N' Roses. I really loved having the game here. I really did enjoy it. All right, so let's get into the game. And, you know, this game was mine. It was like one of my first builds. So I do kind of hold it in some regard. I'm overburdened with games. Otherwise, I'd probably buy it myself just to bring it back home. So that's my story with Jersey Jack's Guns and Roses, the only Jersey Jack game I have owned or probably will ever own just because, oh gosh, you know, after this happened and I had my Jersey Jack, I'm like, you know, that's it, man. I want to be in on the ground floor on like their next release. I'm a be on the list so like I can get one of these fresh off the line and then you know the next game that followed up that was Toy Story 4 and I remember Ken Cromwell. Nice guy. I met him several times. Cool dude. I remember him doing a little bit of a recorded video talking about like okay we got a game coming out you guys and if you want to try to score that collector's edition here's what you can do and it's like get on a list with your distributor. I might think about going on that just because of how awesome that game is even though it doesn't have full code. I will say this about Guns N' Roses. It sounds like they're going to do a final code update here pretty soon. So maybe that'll revive some activity in it. But, you know, you could pretty much swing a cat and pick up a Guns N' Roses. I've been going nonstop all week, but you wouldn't know that if you were watching the Patreon or watching my normal podcasting cadence. Normally I have a show up every two to three days, and I think it's been about seven now since I've put anything up. So here's what happened. I'm going to share this with my Patreon people. I'm being kind of cagey about this, and I want to release all my details, but I'm essentially building a pinball machine right now. What had happened was I went to TPF and I saw Saw and I saw Friday the 13th and I met Aaron from Fast Pinball and I'm just like looking at these guys, these makers. I'm friends with Ed who did Ghost in the Shell. He lives up near me. I've been to his house. I've played Ghost in the Shell several times at his house, at MGC, at other places and I'm like I just I kind of want to be one of these guys. I want to crack the code. I've got a table saw, a table router, a handheld router, and every manner of Milwaukee cordless power tool. And with those and my ingenuity and my music playing in the background, I built myself a replica spike II cabinet and copied the dimensions exactly. My backbox is built out of three-quarter inch plywood because I don't have the metal to make the bendy parts of the back top and bottom of the backbox. So mine's all three quarter inch plywood so I had to adjust to keep the same interior dimensions. But I got myself a translite. I stole the speaker panel off of Black Knight. I purchased another one from Pinball Life to replace that. I've got myself my own coin door, legs, armor, lockdown bar. I printed a start button. I have a hole cut for the tournament plug. I put that in. I've got the stern strike panel because I have tons of those left over. Whenever you buy yourself a shooter rod, it'll come with one of those. I have a drawer full of them now at this point. So I went ahead and I have a damn cabinet. I have the speakers that I took out of Venom before I sold it. They were aftermarket Kenwoods and I put in a bass speaker. I put in the regular cabinet speakers or the backbox speakers and I have my Fozzy Bluetooth amp and so it's all plugged in and I can Bluetooth music into this pinball machine that I created. I started last Wednesday and I finished it up last Tuesday. I know how to install mechs, I can install flipper assemblies, I can install slings, but I need to know like what size coil I need, geometry of the layout and all that business. So I need to learn all that. Maybe that's going to take me three years to do. Maybe it'll be impossible, I'll never get it done. Maybe I'll have a game finished in time for Expo and I'm already on my next game. I don't know yet, so I don't really want to come out publicly and say, here's what I'm doing everybody, here's the grand reveal. I'm going to release a YouTube video update every week and we're going to follow the progress because I don't know how it's going to go. But this is what I've done so far. I do have a theme in mind, but again, you know, I might start down the road and find that it's completely unworkable.
