intensity right here that I'm feeling as you can see no color correction needed now it's like my karate chop it it was like it was done on purpose it's a thing what is your wife couldn't say that's because that's one thing but she's you ones are mom it is Buster Scruggs we're getting back into westerns how you feeling you feeling we're screwed yeah you know this themeing wised it goes nothing with Christmas I don't know what was all your choice you picked it don't say why we paid you because I had it for a while it was rare and people have been wanting to see it and they want to know more about it because a lot of people out there have not played cactus caning continue which is a shame it really is this it had so much potential when they remake this game I think it may be a big hit I thought at first it was it didn't have the code there's no way it's gonna be that good they kind of quit halfway yeah they had a full game yeah they really had a full game great shooting game a lot of toys a lot of mechs call-outs were great maybe it was thinned out and wasn't fully complete ki wise but but it's bigger than it's better than some of the other rare games like Big Bang Bart's that baby III complete blows it out of the water Big Bang bars a full game but Eric Kripke came in and he completed the code on this and called it continued sold that package by use of the P Rock operating system it pulls a lot of cool stuff a lot of nostalgia from 90s pinball yeah it's a very unique so a lot of good stuff going on so that I guess that's why I wanted to review it right yeah four years and we wanted to get a nice big ol review how about that lazy soos still thinking about it alright now we're gonna take you to the overview in the gameplay of myself and cactus Canyon continue to show you a lot of the cool little toys max the continued code and then we'll come back and we'll start to rate this bad boy very interesting and satisfying layout on the sting the continued version was added later by an individual by the name of Eric Kripke this added a lot to the game because it was not fully coded upon release let's do some left-to-right action guys so before we do that though I need to focus your attention down here at the flippers and swings traditional and lanes outlanes but what is different is diverters see that metal diverter those can't come up to catch a ball to start your gunfight when that is done you'll see drop targets 1 2 3 4 that will pop up during that gunfight one of the bandits or the BART brothers will pop up and you have 3 flips on your flipper to hit them essentially you need to hit it whenever that diverter drops the ball rolls you've got to hit that guy if you hit those enough you won't progress through the game steamed up targets to the left light quick-draw and to the right lighting quick drill left orbit so bucking bronco a wild ride ride'em cowboy that is a progression it's not like those are modes first time you hit it you get bucking bronco second time you hit it wild ride and so forth that left orbit is gonna take you up to a controlled gate either it's going to drop you into the pops or it's gonna look you around okay this right here this beer is a target pop that's going to get you toward drunk multiball left rein is responsible for saving poly there's a couple different safe poly modes now the left one I think you're saving poly through a river Antonio Cruz or something like that so again whitewater and a little tribute there you hit that three times that left ramp and you'll start a saved poly mode left frames gonna take you safely to your left flipper the mine now the mine actually moves every time you hit it moves up and down this is scoop scoop is responsible for the extra bubble of course the locking bolts as well okay sinner and sinner ramp is responsible for the saving poly on the train you did it three times and you start that mode whenever you do start that mode the middle ramp shop middle ramp shop will pause this train this train is going to start going and if it gets to the end the train will run over poly killing her it's pretty brutal as well now you can pull the trains crossing or progress by hitting that center ramp but essentially to save Paul you have to hit the left ramp on the red grant okay the center ramp goes up comes around then it goes past this train on this track and safely to your left lever alright your badge toy the nice little ramp there that hits the BART brother right in the face and there's a moat down there whenever you hit in his hat does pop up which is a really really cool feature once in there it will shoot it out of that scoop right there into your orbit and take right orbit hit those three and you're gonna get given to a mode as well okay right the most right shot is actually a ramp you go up it's under it so you can't really see I don't think you can see that it goes up and comes around safely to the right flipper you can kind of see the wire form there satisfying shot it'll go up a little bitty loop right there and come right back down so those are essentially your shots and cactus king what else do you need to know the object of the game is to get to High Noon to get the High Noon you have to light all five points of the badge okay stampede I believe is a multiball should have done my research mother lode can be obtained during a multiball hitting enough jackpots combos just as it sounds enough combo shots giving the Bart Brothers so hit this guy three times you'll start a battle versus one of the Bart brothers you hit so many shots to defeat that bar brother if you continue to defeat all the Hart brothers you won't get to Bionic art he is the last guy you have to beat that bionic Bart to get to the wizard mode okay showdown I think has to do with the drop targets as well you have to have so many drop targets alright those drop targets are the the bar brothers a pop up you can progress your ranking from stranger to partner to deputy - sheriff - marshal if you get the marshal complete that and you start marshal multiball the main multiball here is goldmine multiball and then Stampede multiball and then the continued versions can give you a lot of extra options as well during drunk multiball hitting that enough is going to enable drunk multiball that's where your flippers are gonna switch orientation left controls right right controls the left there's another cool mode in here called cowboys vs. aliens if you get enough tumbleweeds tumble these are your orbits once that control the gauge is down you hit enough orbits and you're going to start Cowboys vs. aliens they're very [Music] how cool is this dubstep now so when you plunge it it's going to go through those it's your land on one now if you hold the flippers you'll get your super skillet up Betty so super steel shot same kind of thing you're gonna plunge and it's going to circle around they're hitting a switch and randomizing I'd just like on champion pub but there are some cool stuff like tribute you land on that you're going to start the tribute of another game such as it's gonna rain the latest on one we got scared stick each of those [Music] very cool and in your game starts monster bad so we get next circus bull terrier challenge me Circle this is cactus Canyon continued our Gregory let's get back into a cactus caning continued developed by Bali Williams in the late 90s this is the one they they kind of abandoned right before that pinball 2000 series yeah I wish they would have kept with this and integrated some screen work at some point online but nevertheless they kind of abandon this you didn't see many go into production and then really rare to continue people to have that game that bought that kit to upgrade it to the continued series just don't see a whole heck of a lot of them out there they are very pricey yes until they're remade they're very pricey and even if they do get remade I'm not sure we're gonna get that continued code added I don't we're gonna see that because they pull a lot of Bali Williams intellectual property from other machines some of the special features so it might be difficult for them to gain the rights to yeah to some of that they've got all the rights but I don't know if they'll want to integrate that into another game oh yeah do you really want to bring scared stiff and medieval madness yeah no what's that in that that kind of stuff is fun though that that's kind of what makes it cuz it's like you said it yeah it's like a nostalgia it's like watching like a like an I love the 90s thing or something I'm like MTV or vh1 like that's what it does it make sense of people that into cactus King you know green theme I don't know I think it does if you maybe if this is one of the first games where you've got the the both codes we're gonna switch where you can play cactus Canyon cuz I or you can play cactus King continue yeah I think they could get the rights from that Eric Kripke no they could probably do that yeah just because honestly think it'd be worth it I think so or do listen listen Chicago do the classic and do it as cactus Canyon then maybe on your le to really separate that le du cactus Canyon with cactus Canyon continued on it that way it justifies pan Kripke for his code and everything else and you've got something truly super special above and beyond a topper for your le but do people think that's gonna be a cop-out you know this this was just a guy doing his own code why are we pushing that through to production this is you know this deserves better maybe but he knocked it out I thought it I think he'll me and I think it just stays with you like if you're doing remakes that's a remake you're not finishing a game you're not polishing it off you you're remaking it they're gonna if they don't do the continue they're gonna have to do something with the regular guy has to do that's very true it's very true because it's bear maybe they do some research as to what was going to go in there and they finish that out yeah but I it's gonna be hard-pressed to finish this code out as good as they continued just begun for nostalgic reasons there's a lot of gimmicks in this code yeah it's just really really fun so let's get into the rating system as everyone knows here we rate on a grading rubric from an A+ all the way down to an F on each category as follows so you start with art oh is this a beautiful pinball machine it's pretty but it's not it doesn't it doesn't blow me away and you know I've talked to enough people honest about you now see I feel kind of good when I get in an art about what people think and everything but they still here I don't because I think the side the cabinets beautiful I like a lot or doubt it but at the same time I don't would you redo the or a little bit if you're remaking this no cuz I just don't know what I would do mmm I don't know what you would do yeah I mean I think I would go to I I would vary too far off from what that goofiness that fun-ness of like Bart and everything I like I think I would go too much realism to a I don't know I'm afraid that I'd John yeah so has a very for caricature yes type of art style which fits that game it's great that does it does you got Paul you got Bart yeah you have the sheriff down at the drain my favorite part of this art package is the cabinet it's a little bold but simple logo on the side that cactus Canyon with that shiny star of that red background you don't get a lot of that red yeah and pinball machines the bad glass itself screams yes II do need it it's looking down looking down the the Old West town now I got iconic imagery with the with the women and the men the Cowboys and the maids it's pretty cool now tell me this and I don't put you on the spot because you're supposed to be put on the spot and I probably should have done my research but wasn't there something wasn't there a cover-up wasn't wasn't there something you could do with the back glass that was different from continued the Cathedral oh no I don't know that I just know what that continued package you get a decal that goes on that bag glass or trans light that says continued see I thought and I could just have made this up in my head I'll reach out to indepen in like a cover-up like her bosom no I thought there was something maybe that that added her something maybe she was was she absent from the regular cactus Canyon and maybe it added her see I could be just like literally made something up in my head so I'll reach out to him and I'll see if I'll let's look for it at the bottom that's more overall art for me I'm into a - just because that cabinets gorgeous it stands out it classic ballet Williams 90s it fits right in there - me with your medieval madness is your attack from Mars even your monster bash it seems like this one of the guys yeah they're so playful - so playful it's just it's not slammed no but neither is Monster Mash no I had to eat with that no yeah it's got Polly right there and middle and I don't mind Polly right no she's a pretty girl and then you get the sheriff that drawing Sam with the badge yeah I'm fine with it you're gonna be yeah just like I said I still just cactus Canyon on the side it's very well done but it's maybe I'm maybe my scores reflecting the nostalgia and the rarity of it yeah are you gotta be careful with that a pin like this is to not get so caught up in this war yeah yeah of it and not you know review it for what it is well then I'll give a minus for that cabinet cuz I think it's one of the prettiest it is memory it's very pretty mmm cuz it doesn't take a lot of stellar re-visit it doesn't take detailed characters that yes it can just be a beautiful layout we don't agree yeah it's gonna be laid out nice yeah it's gonna be pretty agreed let's move on to shots and lay out now based on your score you think this shoots very well you're at an a-minus fun shooter there's a lot to shoot at it's fun not to get into toys but yeah three main yeah and you like rooms I do like I'm gonna be plus okay um the things I really appreciate about this again you're gonna hear it over and over this continues wonderfully with the games that you've all loved the medieval madness the attack or is the monster bash they kind of messed up there with champion pub but yeah it flows right into that series of pins it is a great great solid good feeling shooter yes the orbits are really nice yes one of them gets diverted up to the pops up left yeah but it's an open gate you can go all the way around and because they pull that orbit in to get that right ramp it's a little quick there's a great Corbett very smooth you got the BART shot even the sometimes Center ramps yeah you got to watch out for sinner ramps because they can be a little clunky yes because right it's not at the the great line of the left and right flipper but yeah it's put in a spot that flows really well and it flows right through that train track so yeah that feels good - there's not a lot of side-to-side you got to stand up targets on each side I believe yeah um so they really fill that family I think there's seven main shots yeah which is a lot in that ban seven main shots and they're all distinct shots you've got either scoops ramps or orbits yeah really good it's what made pinball pinball what's that like just the seven main shots I like the way that it's very high snow and the various no no it's not it's not a crammed mm-hmm standard body it and that one stand up target the it's very like scared stiff where you get the beer that pops up or that for all conservative but instead of just doing a stay on target there it's an actuator yeah well that's a toy it's still shot yeah well and it's not super smooth but it it's smooth yeah it is good yeah it just shoots good it's not necessarily a Richy game more than your flowing all over the place with it but it like you said I think medieval I think you hit it on the head with like medieval madness on attack for Mars it's very much those shooters so the reason I'm gonna be plus rather than is the ramps don't do anything special for me I do like that there's three of them but they're very rich II like where they just come up they don't even go to the back of the play field yeah come up and go back down the left and right ramp so with that I do like the orbits yeah my favorite shot in the game is probably the the orbit right of Bart it almost feels like the the reverse from attack from Mars when you lock that ball yes so I do like that your name - its classic Belly Williams feel yeah this thing could be a hit man I think so I'm serious when it before I only game I thought now it's not even if the Western theme is not your your thing it's just fun yeah it's fun and they didn't do it serious you know it is it's like you says that kind of cartoon ature kind of just it almost very cliche cliche of all the Western stuff but it's fun it's not hokey it's not overdone it's not stupid it's can't be in a good way yes that's what Bali will use best exactly as we're moving on to rules and code there's a lot to discuss here you and I are at the same rating on rules and code we're both at a minuses now people are probably saying wait a minute how do you guys rate cactus Canyon continued and a - when the game really wasn't even fully fleshed out and finished that's because we're doing cactus Canyon continued yeah but even so even so I don't know if it's if the the main structure and foundation of that code set is fully fleshed out so how do you give it an A - I know why I do but what do you like about that code the continued yeah please I like that like the thing that grabs me is the the the the code is just it's fun it's set up very similar to your medieval madness with Mars again it's kinda medieval man yes that same kind of sha hit each shot three times and it'll start that mode yes it's like medieval I never get mad about that is some it gets old sometimes but again the continued portion with the funniness of bringing in something from attack for Mars and different stuff bringing in from some of those nostalgic games those mojo fun they're just fun and funny and it's a it's an unexpected surprise the way that they rolled it into what we ain't if what I wish they would have done so on those they're called tributes and they're part of a super skill shot yeah that's how he coded them in so you hold both flippers down and your super skill shot comes on and it randomizes whether you get to tribute or not yeah right you'll see in the videos I've given no it's not a given he's spitting everywhere oh poor table so it's not a given but whenever you land on it then it will bring up a mode almost as if your skill shot is a mini mode that you play just for points only once that's done you start ball one yeah I wish it was integrated into the actual game more I wish you would have won tribute that always comes up in at least one game agree like in a multiball or something or that you almost have to flow into it yeah got to find it so with that I do like the Cowboys versus aliens now this is that's one of my favorite it makes no sense really no but if you hit the orbits enough you start this mode that it's a dubstep music and it flashes like a disco aesthetic but they hang over the and out limbs looks really really good there you have Bart he's the main bash feature and they get you kind of look like Bart main bash feature he'll go left or right when you hit him his hat flies off his that barrel yeah very much like a Western and then you've got the train that goes around the track when you're trying to save [ __ ] did a little oh yeah and she's coming that train's coming and if you don't get it in time the trains gonna smash Paul you drive over the top and you also have the in Lane diverters I don't know if I've seen this in a game there's gotta be a game out there right to us with two diverters that come up in the inlanes that hold the ball where it says ready draw and you're drawing the cowboy he's gonna shoot you and the drop target comes up that's a toy that's one of my favorite because that's one of those that's what you guys you gotta shoot kids right that's one of my favorite things so a lot of toys you are were you at we're both at the same again we agree on this piece I'm gonna be plus I'm gonna be those three two people wait a minute eggs we're all people you just named all these toys yes b-plus no name what's really is it serves the same purpose to get through that game you really need to hit that a lot yeah but he's ugly I mean I hope they rebuilt that Bart honestly that hitting the the saucer and attack for Mars is a little more pleasing than than hitting bar now though those games have less toys than this game yes so you compensate on cactus Canyon by having not only barb but the other toys yeah but holistically it just isn't there they're cool features they're loaded we expect that from Valley Williams that's why I'm gonna be play and even though it's a sculpted piece you know the guns are kind of my favorite yeah they're kind of iconic to that game like you know if there's anything you walk away remembering about definitely feel it a lot of times it's those guns I can still work like as you sort of almost like what what Dwight did with Star Wars with his light shoes okay and everything the way that that that actually the only thing that made it feel like Star Wars a lot of white code yeah in that's what happened with these sounds okay is that I feel the same are one of the most in integral parts of this because it's what draws you in and makes you feel like you said like the Train thing is stuff with Paulie like it actually pulls you into that mode and those sounds make that mode feel like here and a lot of switches are guns yeah yeah so that's what alludes to the world morning hand I think that what makes this feel like the West more than anything is the sounds I think the sounds are what mmm the biggest accomplishment in this pin we go right back to the camp enos of your mitt up I told you I was gonna repeat it I'm like a broken record but this belongs with medieval madness attack for Mars a monster bash it pulls you right back into those call-outs that are campy fun Cowboys versus aliens is enjoyable I haven't got died I didn't get tired of it when I owned it you never got tired of that song never got tired of the mode or the lighting effects on that also you're never got it in any of that Shane yeah so say it was never my thing but I don't mind them I just think that the you know the theming of this not necessarily not saying the Wild West but the way that they themed this with like you said like just kind of that hokey can't be Wild West I really like because it's fun nobody that who doesn't like that who doesn't walk around I will use a Sam Elliot or a John Wayne voice oh well now theme for me I do love the theme the older I get the more I I'm getting old because I'm liking westerns now I like a much simpler civilized world I guess and then yeah theme integrations off the hook on this yeah can we agree on that yeah you look at that even if it's on or off that's a Western no he'll get all Western how many Western pins a lot of older pinball machines were themed around the the Western scheme if you will go far back quick-draw land sharpshooter you get a lot of but none of them integrate like these nineties because you don't have any westerns in the 90s whoa besides what maverick yeah but that's a movie it's more of a movie it was a different kind of western maverick wasn't yeah but you did have to stone in the 90s you had tombstone on the stuff but no I'm talking about like pins though that were all pins yeah though those nothing really wasn't I lost you for a minute under that was a good one Unforgiven was good yeah yeah I agree and maybe that's why that they maybe that's what kind of took a backseat you know because the 90s like I mean he you mean I don't know I just think it's one of those things that it was it there long yeah for my kept there long enough for you and I to play the hell out of it yeah so yeah it is fun it but it's not a game that you want to play every day it's not a game that you strive to beat how often you play medieval madness yes what's that same thing it's exactly the halls right there it does it's so crazy at how much it is like those games as fun as it is it's still sort of repetitive I wouldn't necessarily say chopping wood there's a few things you can do all sort of no because it doesn't it doesn't rely on the extended number of hits every time you do start yeah the three shots it's like medieval madness yeah that's right there it's like monster bash the ramps have three things gonna hit it three times yeah it doesn't after you've done three now you gotta do say yeah now you do for nostalgic things that are fun and that we raved about they are still there but when you run through them you know if you were played the hell out of it you run through them so many times you're yeah you know it's kind of like what we were talking about about wall there's always our loaded and everything else but it's not one particular thing it just feels so amazing it doesn't have that contemporary depth and coat yes it just doesn't now we don't expect that much no that's why instead of a see where it no things you're to be plus I met a straight B my reasoning behind enjoyability being in a B all I give a lot of other stuff that's my lowest score is a B now that's because that medieval madness is tech from Mars of the world even the monster bashes I don't go back to over and over again no and what's great is all those are everybody everybody they leave in a small collection no matter how great those games are like every one of those games they leave in a small collection you're old school guys really appreciate them because they're not getting into like family these are great for families yes these are great for locations yes these are great for old school guys that really don't get into the depth of contemporary pins yeah so this is more of a flavor or preference if you will on code rather than anything so we're not saying the codes back no that's just it's it's not really my cup of tea long term and it's my election but yeah yeah you would you would need I would say a good five plus pin collection yeah you're perfect in that yeah go play on that if the price was true my ass can't afford no and that's the other thing you're kind of balancing out is the playability enjoyability am I getting my money's worth out for the price of this no no if you're collecting it yeah with the rarity in mind then whatever but it's not a plate play wise and enjoy ability it's not a ten to $13,000 yeah yeah all right so let's talk about the pros and cons of cactus caning continue and then we'll give the people our composite okay so the the pros loaded loaded its balli Williams yes it's fun and new with that continued feature oh it's beautiful it really is a pretty pin I guess a McCall apps are great so it is a full package yes just as much just as much so as your as its brothers or sisters in an evil man is tax free Mars monster bash that's there the cons price price price is Colin one two and three it is a rare pin so if you're buying this pin you're likely buying it as a collectible but do you know what I think it's gonna be fantastic when if Chicago gaming remakes might be next is that this will be like a brand new pin to 90% of the the pinball world whereas attack from Mars medieval madness all that dull it was playing they still sold well so imagine a pin that exists but 90% of you have never put your hand that's a really good point that that is what the the big factor but this gave me this gonna be no different than a new Stern or a jjp or something that comes out because nobody's really Valley Williams that most people haven't played yet exactly win it I think people are gonna fall in love with it just as they did yes the other ones yeah if they can come in at a six thousand dollar price point like they made with mr. bash this game I think is going to it's gonna be crazy but can they do that if they have to develop that code more and put more into code can they do that I don't know I don't know either because again there's a lot of toys and stuff like monster bad this was a later run of what they're ever gonna really remake yeah Greg so that means that they're probably throwing more in this than they have you know the shadow of the world or the the Johnny mnemonics of the early nineties yeah it's gonna be rough but we'll see we will see so the cons price another cone is the depth of code yeah as these remakes continue to come out for collectors like us that really like to get far into a game a little bit of the repetitiveness yeah there's a little bit a little bit of that lack of depth which is okay yeah nothing wrong with them but if I'm paying some big prices you know it's gonna be hard for me to pick this it doesn't have to have great day I mean look at a hobby I like the Hobby the hobbits grown on me a lot but again there's so much depth and it's so long like ball times hobbits kind of like a pun I guess Oh since I interrupted yours gonna cut off your conversation I was done yeah so five pins five hence unless you don't play pinball much then they could be your only pin no it's all there no ice no what now it doesn't only pin if somebody didn't play much pinball they just wanted one for the family you wouldn't recommend medieval madness oh yeah they abysm they a bit literally is the cheapest Ellie that a manufacturers making right now yeah so I think Chicago game is price point is on par dude if they're steps holding up and it it does well then I I think they're kind of a very under look to game-changer in the pin world just think they could use the code just think great what these pins would do if they could change the code these things shoot better than anything yeah
