## Analysis

American Pinball releases an official Field Guide video for Galactic Tank Force, explaining core gameplay mechanics through an in-universe military briefing format. The guide covers mission progression, enemy types (tanks, UFOs, robots), power-up systems (methane blaster, atomic shield), rank advancement, multiball qualification, and ingredient collection for Professor Plotnick's ice cream research. The presentation uses thematic framing (Blue Justice character, moon base defense narrative) to teach rules and strategy.

## Transcript

Alright, listen up! I'm fighter first class Blue Justice. We're assigned to deliver the 411 on how to succeed as the newest member of the Galactic Tank Force. Our research base on the moon of Lumina has come under attack from Empress Anoia, who has mobilized tanks and UFOs to steal our cows and drive us off the moon. Our mission is simple. Protect the cows and save the ice cream. How do we do that? Let me show you. In addition to fighting off enemies sent from Lumina, you are also assigned to assist Professor Plotnick in collecting ingredients for his top-secret zero-gravity ice cream research. That's why we're here. To protect this moon's most precious resources. Ice cream and everything that it takes to make it. To start your missions, go to Mission Control. After you've completed your first mission, go through the in-lanes to get prepped and ready for your next mission. Keep an eye on those reactors. If they get too hot, it'll trigger a meltdown that we have to deal with. During the meltdown, every shot you make increases your jackpot value. Go back to the pop bumpers to get the meltdown under control. When it's cool enough, get to the professor and he'll finish the job. Beware, Anoya's UFOs will try and sneak up on the research farm and steal our cows. Attack the UFO to save our beloved bo-bines. If you save enough cows, they'll throw a party in your honor. We call that Cowabongo. If the coast is clear and the cows are safe, hit the UFO target to visit the pasture and do your dairy duty. But beware the UFOs will not be thrilled to see our happy herd and may hurry back to get to the next abduction To prepare us pilots for multi flight light the AIR targets Once you've completed that, get all three of us to the hangar, so we can launch our attack against Anoya's spybots. To defend our base, aim for the spybots. When you've destroyed all those buckets of bolts, Anoya will send one of her motherships. Take it down by shooting the UFO target. When you've destroyed the juggernaut, have some fun. You deserve it. Go for some victory laps and celebrate your accomplishments. But beware, the next wave is fast approaching. A good tank jockey is accurate with their aim. Show off your shark shooting skills by aiming for the lab lanes when you're up. Do it right and the professor will open his lab immediately. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, aim for the advanced rank lanes to instantly earn a promotion. Every rank you advance increases your bonus multiplier and the value of your mode shots. There are several ways to advance rank. Complete the two advanced rank lanes. Complete the right flank targets when rank is selected. You can earn it from the professor as a mystery award after opening the lab. Surrounding the fusion reactor are the quantum accelerator towers. These towers will power up our forces. Complete one tower for double power. Complete the other tower in time for quadruple power. Use your flippers to control which tower sections are active. Remember, you're not alone in this battle. Advance your forces by hitting the flank targets. They will deliver big rewards and can even offer multipliers on each side of the battlefield Losing control out there Hunter Not to worry You might be lucky enough to save yourself by falling through the safe areas when they are lit We wouldn't arm you with nothing out there. You have a limited atomic shield that will try and save you when you attack the enemy tank. Your tank is also armed with a powerful methane blaster, but it needs refueling. Gather methane, and once you have enough, you can destroy enemy tanks with one shot. The biggest threat to our base is the relentless advance of Annoya's evil red tanks. The most common tank you'll face will be the easiest to take out. There are three levels of damage you can inflict depending on the light appearing at each tank target. Red will do massive damage, orange will cause moderate harm, and yellow will barely make a dent in the armor. You can keep an eye on the tank's health by watching its health bar below the targets and on the screen. You'll earn a chance at a lucky break when you destroy a tank. The next tank you'll encounter will have some unwanted company. One of Anoya's robot crew will try to challenge you by offering a dynamic target. The robot can only be destroyed by hitting the moving red target. That too tough for you? Get your methane blaster loaded and ready to make it easier to destroy these unwanted enemies. A shielded tank will appear next which will take all of your strength and skill to defeat Keep hitting the blue shield to destroy it Once the shield is down keep up the pressure and take down that defenseless tank We need you to defeat all enemy tanks and tech mechs by any means necessary Gather baskets of Roland Berrios by ramping up the mountain as many times as you can. You can never grab too much. The Professor, although he may seem a little nuts, has some useful inventions. Use the Professor's nutdar to locate the best walnuts the moon of Lumina has to offer. I bet you're wondering what this ol' milk-o-matic does. This beast of a machine simultaneously milks all of our space age cows to get the creamiest milk for our zero gravity ice cream. Each unique switch you hit sends a cow through that machine. Once enough cows have been collected, head back to Mission Control to deliver the milk to the Professor and collect your reward. Lather up that sunscreen because you're on your way to the lunar harsh conditions of the Sprinkle Desert. That's where you can find the sweetest of spring falls laying around, waiting to be collected. Don't forget to return them to the Professor or to Mission Control. Did you know that the best fudge in the galaxy is found right beneath our feet? Check out the professor's lab in Mission Control and see if you can find any Gushers. And that's it. Congratulations, Hunter. You are now prepped and ready to fight with the best of the Galactic Tank Force. Good luck, Hunter. Enjoy some ice cream along the way. Now let's go crush some craters.
