## Transcript

Hey there, Pinball Land. We are here with Raymond Davidson. We're going to show you a gameplay preview of The Walking Dead Remastered, and we're just going to jump right into it. So, Ray, if you could start a two-player game.

 All right.

Well, thanks for inviting me to play some Walking Dead.

 Thanks for coming.

Look at that. I got the triple skill shot now.

We got the the new button rollovers there.

 That's exciting.

Oh, look at that. Automatically shot the uh tunnel for me. Oh, that nice feed out of the box there.

 We're almost there.

Let's see. Whoa, look at that secret ball lock.

 Oh, behind the

Oh, there we go. Look at that. It must have uh ball searched.

 There you go.

Put some hair on your chest.

 That was cool. Oh,

that'll put some hair in your chest. Oh, nice little ancillary drop target hit there. So, what is your like go-to when you're playing this game in a tournament, per se? uh usually trying to get some progress on um you know well and or prison. Well, you definitely want to open the prison first cuz now you have all these blue arrows. So, every blue arrow you hit is uh advancing towards the uh prison multiball. Um and then you also want to start a mode. Uh barn is usually a go-to.

 Okay.

Um CDC can be really big. Or sometimes what I'll do is I'll just commit all three balls to blood bath and then stack it with riot. So I might do that here. So I'm just going to focus on these uh drop targets.

You know, I had uh I had Elwin in here beating on this game a little bit earlier and he was telling a story about how they actually took his original Walking Dead and brought it in to dissect it to create this game.

Yep. so that can be um faithfully remastered. Um

 they cut up his baby.

They uh speaking of Elwin, um the the lead software uh Mark Guidarelli is going to be asking Elwin and and myself for any any sort of cool ideas and input and feedback. Um you know, to try to make this remaster really cool. And we've already got a whole bunch of cool ideas planned. Wow, look at that crossbow. That was like prestigious.

Nicely done. Right into Bicycle Girl. Is that who I think it is?

 Oh,

 it is. It's John.

 It's the zombie himself.

 It's John Borg.

Yo, bring that back. I love that cutout, dude.

What's up, Mr. Borg? Oh, I got two of my

Hello. My name is John Borg. It looks just like you, doesn't it?

Well, his head's a little floppy there. Oh, there you go. It's got the the backup.

All right. And I got a multi-kill cuz I um hit enough bicycle girl shots. So you can see now that little yellow insert is flashing. So that'll actually give me even more points.

 Oh, nice.

Um one thing really big about this are these inlane multipliers. So if I Oh, that would have been so big. 3x.

 Good save.

It might still be 3x actually. Let's see. Oh, that definitely was.

 Oh my goodness.

That's all you got in here?

 Magnet action.

I'm I'm loving the magnets on this thing. Uh yeah, aside aside from like the obviously the the base game that you guys all love and remember, uh there's a whole bunch of new stuff that are being, you know, shoved into this game. It's going to be phenomenal. We have like two new mini wizard modes. Um lots more modes actually, new challenge modes. Uh I believe the crossbow functionality is getting a a cool revamp.

Yeah, it's got it's got a special encoder now so it can tell um what position it's at.

Know exactly where it's at. So, we can use that to do like a smart fire where it kind of calibrates itself and can auto automatically hit something for you. Um, and with all these cool Oh, I just I think I just nudged a switch and got something.

Well, that freaked me out. Holy.

To get to get to last man standing, you have to have 115 kills, I believe.

 Okay.

Um, so we're going to, you know, throw something in along the way um that you'll hit when you get to like 30 or 40 or something. Yeah, there might be other ways to, you know, really start getting lots of kills.

Make the multi-kills more um exciting, like to get multiple going at once.

On the old code, that didn't really mean as much. But now, you know, we're going to

just kind of plug any holes we see, try to make things more exciting.

I'm I'm excited for the um

Do you want Do you want in on this, by the way?

Uh are you still on ball one?

 Yeah.

 Yeah. Put me in.

 All right.

 We got a player three.

Um I'm excited. Um the uh supplies um there's an idea for like if you get first aid normally you want different supplies. We're going to try to put some incentives so that if you go after the same supply like if you get first aid twice then it can give you outlane healers.

Yeah. Yeah. We definitely need uh uh the uh the outlanes to provide more bers kind of like Metallica does.

Right. But at popular request, this game's going to have a um 2014 mode, so you can choose it from the gameplay menu and just go old school if you want.

Oh, you can stay with the classic mode. Oh, that's that's awesome.

 Yeah. Yeah. So,

what would it still maintain the like the Does it have the dots in it or like what what does that

I don't know. I'm not I'm not on the um

 No specific code.

I'm just I'm just an ideas guy.

Yeah, I'm just an ideas man.

Dude, that left ramp feels so freaking good.

 Oh yeah. Look at that.

Yeah. You know, I revamped the right upper right hand corner because the the flat rail used to go all the way to the edge of the playfield. So, I brought it in because we have the steel rails on the game now. And it seems to have made the tunnel shot a little easier, too. And when you're in the tunnel mode,

 the points are very lucrative.

Oh, I might go for that next.

I was watching Keith pounding [snorts] on that the other day, and he was just he was just crushing it.

 Oh, in tunnel.

In tunnel. Yeah, I love that tunnel mode. And it looks like the um the feet from the pop bumpers seems to be pretty friendly now.

 Yeah, it's it's a little more friendly.

I'm sure it can still go wherever it wants.

Right. It it's uh it's coming down, you know, at that angle and you know, it could possibly go out, but

 Oh, that one. Oh,

it's not as mean as it used to be.

 I like it.

Give it to me. I'll take CDC. Yeah, that's exactly what I wanted to shoot. There we go.

All right. So, for CDC, you want to hit that left ramp as many times as you can. As soon almost

as soon as you hit something that's not a left ramp.

 Yeah.

Um, then you kind of move to phase two.

Okay, got it. So, you want to just repeat left ramp all day.

 Yep.

Let me get control of the dang ball. Jack, danger, what are you doing? I like I don't know what you did to the ramp flap, but I feel like it's much better than

It's a lot smoother than it than it was in the original version.

It's longer and it gives a little bit when the ball hits it and it it glides up there very nicely.

My brain just really wants to shoot that barn shot all

say, Jack, you still despite how smooth he makes it, you got to get it between the the posts.

Yep. Got to get that. I mean, it's it's generous.

All right, Borgie, it's up to you.

 All right, here we go.

Championship of the world. Oh, actually, uh, I have I have a note here that says there's also team play and co-op coming.

Oh, there you go. So, you can try to get

So, you can Yeah, two people can try to get all the features

 together. That's That is awesome.

 That's going to be awesome.

So, yeah, got to be patient. There's all these cool things planned. It's coming. Open up that prison.

 Open the prison.

So, John, there's new speech for this game. Yeah.

 Yes. Um,

and it's already in the game. I was hearing a lot of it.

Yeah. I did scripts for several characters. Some of them just only have a few lines, but some of them have a lot of lines. Um, when the game first went out, all we had was Michael Rooker speech in the game. Uh, but we're going to have custom speech from Michonne and I think there's eight or nine other characters that speak during the game.

He's showing off the left ramp. Did you see that?

 That was great.

Oh, I don't know where that 10 million came from. That was sweet.

 It's free money.

 Bicycle girl is lit.

Oh, yeah. Now I can't make the left.

Now that it's lit. Oh yeah, you got bicycle girl ready.

 That'll stop them.

 Uhoh.

I like the new lights on the outside and inside. And it looks like there's some cool kind of ominous GI.

 Oh yeah,

got those cool fish heads up there.

All right, he's going straight for the prison. That's That's a good strat. So, something subtle that I think adds a lot to what's going on here is the coil that you added underneath the well walker where you can actually like make him react.

 Make him animate.

Before just the lights would flash back and forth on the well,

now you can get him to throw a tantrum.

 Yeah, he has a tantrum.

That's cool. I remember you adding that when we were

 Yeah.

You were making the remaster. You're like, I think I'm going to

It gives you a chance to see the guts that are hanging.

Oh, yeah. There's molded guts underneath.

 Ah,

some people didn't know that cuz it's, you know, when you hit it with the ball, it opens up a little bit.

Wait, were there molded guts in the original?

 Yes.

 Really?

 Yeah.

 I actually didn't know that.

Uh-huh. I know. Some a lot of people have told me that.

 That's wild.

 Oo, I like on that.

 Wow, you put guts in.

I like you can see your um 2x playfield timer. That's cool.

The old game you didn't have room on the display to see your your 2x play field timer, so you kind of just guess.

 Just crossing your finger. Yeah.

Yeah. I would just looked to see if the lamp was still flashing.

 Mhm.

 We got Woodberry lit now.

Now Woodberry, I want to split that off because when you change what the Woodberry skill shot is once you get the ball in there, I want to make uh stopping on that top roll over much more lucrative than the bottom one

cuz now you've got three and the bottom one's a give me. But if you plunge up and touch off on the top one, that's where I want the big the biggest features.

 Yeah. Big pay.

 Wow, that was okay.

 Wow.

Yeah, you did a riot pretty good. You hit a couple riot moi shots. All right, let's I'm I'm all in on blood bath here, so I just need to wait for it to get to first aid.

Good timing. Now you got to clear it. Yeah, I need that one extra target. We'll see if he gives me I'm a little nervous here. All right. Oh, nice. Nice and easy. Oh, just missed it.

 Target said no.

Hit it, too. Here we go.

 There you go. Oh,

yeah. Going to be a bud bath.

Oh, that was definitely a new quote. Yeah, cuz that that was they they used um Michael Rooker, right?

That felt good, huh? They didn't have him on the first game.

Yeah, we recorded Michael Rooker for the first game, but we never got to use the material.

 Oh, really?

 Mhm.

That's right. You got He had the

Michael Rooker was so funny. There was a lot of things he add lived in the in the sound booth that that definitely couldn't go in the game, but he was really really funny to listen to.

Oh, I bet. All right, Adabal. Let's hit those drop targets. Oh, yes. That's what I wanted. I wanted a I didn't I I wanted Riot, but I didn't think I'd be able to

Oh, no. Oh, no. LAST MINUTE.

OH, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT. LING. LING, GRACE.

 OH, not enough, Grace.

 Well, whoa. I think

 Wow. Did you see that?

I hit it so fast I don't think it registered.

I whipped it and then it jumped over everything.

Like Gary says, the ball is wild.

Ball is wild, baby. I want to try one of those ricochets again because I also want to get get my

 well walker into

Yeah. The other thing we did with the new game compared to the old game is the uh uh the prison zombie and the bicycle girl zombie are um they're new mechanisms alto together. the old ones, uh, uh, when you hit them, it it pivoted to to make a, um, a leaf switch, and they're micro switches now, and they're, um, they're very easily adjustable. Um, but they don't need adjustment. Um, and they're very sensitive.

All right, let's do this thing.

 There we go. Quick action

and put them in a tank.

Nice. I didn't know you could hit it. Yeah, you can.

 That was pretty.

I think it's easier when you let it go all the way across and it's on its way back. He did it the hard way.

He did it the hard way. Yeah, that's like threading the needle.

 Yeah. A little secret action.

Okay, so we need another mode going on here. So, we needed that.

 Yeah, modes are good.

 Good thing they can't run.

Good thing they can't run. fun little uh nod to other zombie movies.

 Michael was just great.

There's a line in the game though where the character says, "Holy suffering cats." And that was something that my grandpa used to say when I was little. I think it was a replacement for a swear word.

And uh so Michael was reading the script and he and he got to Holy Suffering Cats. He goes, "Holy suffering cats." He goes, "What the hell is that? That's awesome.

Did you record the What the hell is that? That would be

Oh, yeah. No, I got I have the whole the whole entire session. But, you know, the Michael was doing a lot of teasing the player, and I'd like to try to squeeze some of that into the game, too.

 Some of it

 Oh, I got an EB.

Some of it was a little

 a little much.

 Oh, that's

I'm not going to play the extra ball out, but I am going to shoot for a skill shot again.

Line it up on the right.

Oh, extra balls. Okay, we're hardcore.

Oh, wow. Oh, no hands. [groaning]

 Okay, no hands, baby.

 Mhm.

 Give me another.

Oh, and we get the bonus.

Wow, look at this. Very fruitful. You have prison multiball lit, too. Hex ball.

 Saving it.

 All right, Borg.

Actually, if you have a blue I have a blue button, so if I was in jack state, I could hit my blue button and start prison multiball.

Oh, that's uh the walker bomb, right?

 Yeah.

Oh, wait. It changes color depending on what? Yeah, blue is prison and green is well.

And then I think red is cord.

Oh, I think you counted yourself out on that one.

I could have I could have saved that.

Yeah, a good snack would have.

 Yeah,

he's just sandbagging. Keeping it closed.

 Yeah.

 Making me think I'm safe.

 Got to keep it interesting.

Uhoh. Okay, my ball safe time. I don't want to waste. All right. Oh, my prison I think is lit, actually. So, wait. I think I'm in that state where I just hit the button.

 Oh, save.

 I had a ball saved.

Oh, that made me real nervous.

Yeah, I think prison is ready. So, if I hit the button, it should start multiball. But I'm going to just kind of noodle around here since it's safe. Try to get a mode going.

 Essentially, like having a ball.

 Yeah.

 Oh, no. I started well.

 Oh, I got well walker.

That's fine. I ain't never seen anything like this before.

 Multiple.

All right, let's see if I can do tunnel like you were saying.

Although tunnel is not super great in multiball because

 Yeah.

 Oh, I did anyway.

 That other ball.

 Tunnel.

 Nice shot.

 The more tunnels you hit

before hitting anything else, the more the value is. But as soon as I hit something else, then the value gets locked in. So that's why multiball is kind of hard cuz I need to not hit anything else.

 Not hit anything else.

 Corpse right there.

 Oh, nice.

I think the wind pulled that one out.

 There we go.

 There's a nice one.

All right. So now my tunnel is double. So I'm going to start cashing stuff in.

 Oh, baby.

 Nice.

Oh my god. Also, that spinner is counting every freaking spin. It is beautiful.

You're getting a nice collection of weapons here, too, as you go along.

Oh, look at that multi kill.

Oh, yeah. Oh, no. All right, let's uh finish this off with a tunnel shot. Wow, that tunnel. You're right. Whatever you did to it, it

 it's it's a little easier.

Look at 200 million out. Look at

 Wow. I a sandbag.

Yeah, right. We got the multi killer.

All right, I guess I'll work towards uh I mean, well, I got my button. I might as well just bash on the well to get him ready.

 Get him ready.

This is kind of the grind strat you would use if you're going for last man standing is try to prep your multiballs kind of back and forth. Oh, well.

So, what does the blue button do for you while you're I think it should give me a jackpot. Yeah. So, it opened it up and now I can hit him again.

Jackpot. Now, you can't stack Weller, but you can stack blood bath. Get every walker that comes out of that barn.

 I'm getting the multi-kills.

Get whatever comes out of that barn.

 Nice little bice action.

Oh, looks like you still get those outlanes. Although you added some anti-borg posts I see on this one a little bit just to give you a fighting chance.

Yeah, the bottom changed too. Um uh originally the uh the rubber rings were on the return lane guides.

 Yeah,

 we're going to have to

But now there's a post so you can you can take the rubber off that post.

Gives you a scoring chance. Yep. You can take it off if you want.

Before you couldn't really take it off. It wasn't really

It was hard. Yeah, it was a little harder to do.

Oh. Oh, the two-edged bicycle girl.

And you got Woodbury lit. There she is. Um, one of the things that I noticed that's missing right now is Bicycle Girls groans and moans.

 Oh, you like

like when she starts up she's like, "Yeah, she's like she's like and it was just all of a sudden it went missing." So,

 well, I'm sure we'll it'll be bad.

 I'm sure they go

 next update. All right.

When we made this game, um I don't know, do you guys know uh Joe Dy?

He his son is uh fighting leukemia. Um when he since he was like three and when he was about six, they came in here and I had the boys in a back room with a uh

for a recording session. I let them sit and make zombie growl.

 Oh, that's cool.

for about a half an hour.

Yeah. and they were like they were they they did a good job.

But they were bringing uh their son uh uh Cohen to the hospital.

 Felt good, huh?

And then they would stop out of pinball. And I remember I brought them back into engineering and showed them Metallica before it went into production. And I had to do a pinky swear with them

 to

so that they wouldn't can't tell you anything. Mom and dad are going to be asking you questions in the car and like you can't tell anything. Pinky swear, you know.

 Oh no.

 Oh no. Oh

17 million button on the way out.

 Yeah. Uh-huh.

Wow. That's going to be hard to come back from.

That's only 10 times my score.

 anyway. Just for trying.

 Those animations are cool.

Chuck, I believe, has a a video coming out soon showing how they did all this stuff to like match the dots and rig all this stuff and make it all cool. It should be should be pretty rad. All right, here we go. Oh, look at it's cruising.

Yeah, sorry. I I asleep at the wheel.

Oh, I just noticed those scary looking slingshot zombies.

The only way is through those that'll stop them.

 It's It's pretty cool.

 We're going to have to

I remember when it first came out, I was waiting. I was sitting in front of the television about a half an hour before the first episode started. I couldn't wait.

Oh, wow. Oh, you're there from the beginning.

The AMC had a timer on the screen like a a week lead a week leading up to

 The Walking Dead's first debut.

 Don't be a wimp.

 Quite the skill shot.

 You never know. Yeah, right.

 Wow, look at that.

What's fun is sometimes we play this for walker dollars. You Well, maybe maybe not dollars, but walker points.

Yeah, walker points. Yeah, of course.

And And depending on how many walkers you got, you know, more than your your other person be like, "Yeah, I got, you know, just ignore the score and just go for

 I got 14 walker points."

 High score achieved.

 High score.
