## Transcript

Oh yeah, we're gonna play some Dreamcast tonight. Wait a minute. Where's the Dreamcast? Not again. Oh my gosh. I'm gonna kill her. I'm gonna kill her this time. Mom! Seriously? This banana is on my Dreamcast! Hey guys, welcome back. So there's some truth to the story of my mom throwing out my Dreamcast. She actually did do that. This second time was just for fun. So speaking of Dreamcast, the other day I was kind of messing around with my NVIDIA Shield TV. I use that to stream Netflix and I watch YouTube on it and things like that. Well, there's an emulator that I've been playing Dreamcast on for a little while now called ReDream, and one of my buddies, Derek, actually introduced me to it. And I was like, man, this has actually come a long way. It was super simple, clean interface and all that. And I don't know what made me think of it, but I was like, well, I wonder if it's available on the Play Store. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I had Dreamcast on the brain. And I was like, oh my God, it's on the Play Store. So, of course, I downloaded it right away. I ran over to my machine where I have some of my Dreamcast images. and I'm like, dude, this is going to be such an awesome night because if this works, this is going to be badass. And sure enough, I load a couple games and I'm like, oh my god, this is so awesome. So if you guys haven't heard of ReDream, it's a really good, really simple and easy to use Dreamcast emulator that has a lot of compatibility with Dreamcast games. There's several that don't work, but for the most part, the compatibility is great. There's a free version and a pay-for version. We'll get into that. But this video isn't to set it up. I'm going to have a part two to do that. But I want you guys to see what this thing does. So if you have an NVIDIA Shield TV, you can buy a controller separately. It works with a whole bunch of different controllers. But come on, guys. I want you to check this out. I am so stoked on this. I actually built a arcade one-up that I'm using ReDream in right now, and I'll kind of show you a clip of that in a minute. But I'm blown away. So much fun. So if you guys love Dreamcast, you have a Shield TV, or you plan on getting one, this is really cool. Alright guys, before we get started we're going to need to download the ReDream app. So I already did that and it's on the Google Play Store. And then preferably you're going to need the Nvidia Shield controller. Now if you don't have this there's a bunch of controllers and I'll leave a link to the compatibility of the controllers for the Nvidia Shield. But let's get right into it. I already preloaded all these games in here so you're going to see them come up. What you would do is you'd go to this section up top that says library and you'd add the directory that has the games in it. So this has got a USB port on the back, you just take your USB that you put your Dreamcast images on, you stick it in the back and then you navigate to it in this library section. Once it's there, every time you open ReDream and go to games, you're going to see your games right here. It'll automatically download the artwork for each game, which is totally cool, but it's a super slick, just really basic menu. I say we jump into Cannon Spike first. I also, you can put the frames per second in the upper left hand corner just to make sure the games are playing well. You can shut that off. put it on so you guys can see that these games play at full speed. As you can see the games run at really good speeds. And I actually have the video quality bumped up quite a bit. So that's another cool thing. If you use the pay for version of ReDream you can bump the graphics up. You don't have to pay for it if you don't want. It's free but if you want to have the ability to bump up the graphics you have to pay a little extra. So I think it's like five bucks or something. So as you can see though I mean this is playing awesome. I'm gonna move the camera a little bit further forward so you can see it a little bit better. So as you can see the graphics are just awesome. the resolution is great, it plays at full speeds. It's just super fun to play these games this way. The other thing that's kind of cool is the reason why that frames per second option is really neat is that you can tweak the settings of the video and kind of see like where you like it the best and you can kind of monitor you know the frames per second as you kind of make tweaks. But this you know this little Nvidia system is pretty powerful. Alright let's switch to a different game real quick. Keep looking at that frames per second you'll see that it stays pretty consistent throughout the gameplay. I mean it might vary a little bit but it's pretty consistent. Damn! Take that! Oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh, damn, I lost my gun. No! Yeah. Crap. I love that blast city cab in the background. I want one of those so bad. I would love to have one of those. See ya. Ah, dang it. Alright, let's try another game. 3, 2, 1, go, go, go! Check those frames for a second, baby. Rocking and rolling on the 60 FPS. It's really loud by the way. Woohoo! Yeah! Need some boost. Yeah! Rockin' the Hydro Thunder, baby. I played this in the arcade so much. I love this in the arcade. I haven played it a long time on a console but Don mess with me punk touch me and I sue Come on punk touch me and I sue Oh yeah. I will run over you! It is loud in here. I don't know if it's loud for you guys, but it is loud up in here. Neighbors are gonna be like, what the hell? homeboy got a speedboat in his living room. Oh man, I could use some boost right about now. No! Well, I'll take third. It's cool. Let's do some Marvel vs. Capcom. By the way, didn't play Marvel vs. Capcom back in the day, so just bear with me. It's not going be great but I know you guys want to see how it plays so let's do it oops All right, as you guys can see, it's running really good. I'm giving butt kicks, so I'm going to stop it now. Guys, this is so fun. I mean, I'm chilling on my couch playing Dreamcast. Pretty good quality. I mean, it doesn't get much better than this. Obviously, you guys have to acquire the games. I can't help you there, but you should be able to figure that part out. Just ask your friends. Someone knows. Alright, we'll skip the awesome acting real quick. Are we still following this guy? He? Oh my gosh, the acting. The acting in this game is just amazing. There we go. Bullets! Bullets! I love the way they say bullets. Bullets! Uh oh. That dude, point blank buddy, point blank. Those guys jack you if you don't pay attention. Bullets! Bullets! He's about to jack me. Oh, hell nah! Oh bullets Bullets Alright let open up the doors Time Save her save her Oh my gosh Oh wait where my gun Uh oh They're gonna kill her. Crap. There we go. Oh wait, did I kill her? Oh crap. Well I can't say that's ever happened before. Oh well. Grab the disc anyway. I never killed her before. I didn't even know you could kill her. Oh well, she's dead. Sorry. Oh, this shotgun guy can see me in the corner of my eye. He's about to take me. Ah! Oh, hail nobody! Take that. Bullets, bullets, bullets, bullets. Antidote, bullets, antidote, bullets. Oh, wait. I think I need to use my disc somewhere. I forget. It's been a while. Oh, no. I'm good. Let's go. I don't really like the shotgun. What? What? That sounds like my daughter when she's like, What? She's a teenager. What? What? Oh, you're going down. Oh, wait, don't creep up on me. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Bullets, bullets, bullets. Point blank your ass. Alright, that's probably not a good strategy. Oh, see? Not a good strategy. Bullets, bullets, bullets. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. oh hell no guy oh maybe so oh god okay if i could just aim that'd be awesome there we go dang it you're going a couple more shots he's dead all right good we got him we got him all right all right guys i know this was a quick video but final thoughts time what do i think about the nvidia shield playing dreamcast with redream i think it's stinking awesome it's so much fun. It plays the games really well. There's a couple glitches here and there, but honestly, I'll deal with it to be able to sit on my couch, play Dreamcast, and just have so much fun. So you guys probably know this. I've talked about it before. I actually didn't really play much of the Dreamcast because I went off to school. My mom really did throw away. I came back. It wasn't there. So I'm learning all about Dreamcast more now than I did even before. So I played a couple games here and there, but then, like I said, I didn't really have access to the system. So I'm loving this. But sometimes it's not convenient to play on this, so I'm just really enjoying kicking back on my couch and playing some Dreamcast games and learning about some new ones that I never even heard of before. So anyways guys, I'm going to have a second part to this video where I teach you how to do it. It's super simple though. It's really as easy as downloading Redream off the App Store, going to your computer, getting the image files, putting them on a USB, and then telling Redream where those games are. And you stick that USB right in the back of your Nvidia shield that's pretty much it but I will have a tutorial video that follow up on this You know in the next like week or so. Alright guys, that's it for now. Thanks for watching If you enjoyed this video, please consider subscribing to the channel. It really does help out Please like the video if you enjoyed the content. Don't forget to turn on notifications and that's it guys. We'll see on the next one We'll see you next time.
