### Sentiment

**Mixed** (0.55) — George has strong critical opinions about the Rolling Stones machine—he dislikes the color scheme, artwork, and various design choices (outfit, nipples, overall aesthetic). However, Dave expresses genuine enjoyment of the game ('I really like this game'). The hosts maintain warm, playful banter throughout, with the criticism directed at the machine itself rather than toward each other. Nostalgia and enthusiasm about the Rolling Stones band, rock music history, and upcoming machines provide positive counterbalance to critical commentary about the pinball game itself.

### Signals

- **[product_launch]** Dave has Evil Knievel, Firepower (appears twice), and Gorgar in restoration queue with target completion by May; Rush expected in late February (confidence: high) — Dave states: 'I plan to have Evil Knievel, Gorgar, and Firepower all done by May timeframe' and 'I'm thinking it's like late February maybe, mid to late February' for Rush
- **[design_philosophy]** Extended discussion of Rolling Stones color scheme failure: intended Union Jack red/white/blue with red tongue, but production used purple/pink/white (allegedly leftover paint from Future Spa); artist Greg Frears' intent vs. production reality (confidence: high) — IPDB quote cited: 'Greg Frears told us that when artists did the stencil art, they seldom got to see a proof before production.' George speculates paint was leftover from Future Spa
- **[product_concern]** George strongly critiques Rolling Stones artwork as inauthentic and poorly chosen (Mick Jagger's outfits, makeup, lack of female imagery compared to Kiss, muted color palette) (confidence: high) — George: 'It's one of my least favorite... I don't even want to say outfits because I sound kind of strange. But it's not the way that I want to see Mick Jagger dressed.'; 'the tongue should be white, red, and black'
- **[manufacturing_signal]** Discussion reveals Bally used leftover paint inventory from other games (Future Spa) for Rolling Stones cabinet, suggesting inventory management and cost optimization drove aesthetic decisions (confidence: medium) — George speculates: 'They had leftover paint from Future Spa. They must have had gallons of it or barrels of it.'
- **[historical_signal]** Rolling Stones (1980) benefited from increased software capabilities vs. Kiss, allowing more actual Stones music to be incorporated into gameplay; context of Bally's color/art process evolution in mid-to-late 1970s (confidence: high) — Dave: 'they had more software, more tunes' in 1980; discussion of Bally shift from photographic to CMYK process affecting color vibrancy

- **[sentiment_shift]** Notable divergence in host opinions: Dave expresses genuine enjoyment ('I really like this game. It's a lot of fun'), while George is highly critical of multiple aesthetic/design elements despite being self-described Rolling Stones fan (confidence: high) — Dave: 'as Rolling Stones come in, I really like this game'; George: extensive critiques of color scheme, artwork, outfit choices, nipple lighting
- **[technology_signal]** Dave purchasing $400 Pinwoofer system for Rush; notes Stern LE machines now include upgraded sound packages with shaker motor; reflects aftermarket enhancement trend (confidence: high) — Dave: 'I bought this $400 Pinwoofer system to put in this Rush I'm going to get'; 'The LEs, they put in a better sound package with a shaker motor'
- **[venue_signal]** George has preserved material from Fun and Games arcade (Saturday morning commercials, VCR tapes) and discusses potentially digitizing and featuring this content in future episodes; arcade holds significance as training ground for notable players (Lyman Sheets) (confidence: medium) — George: 'I actually have the VCR tape and all the stuff from that time' and 'Maybe record it so we can include it in one of our shows'

## Transcript

🎶When the whips come down🎶 🎶When the whips come down!🎶 Yeah! 🎶 Yeah! TheNet Hello and welcome to another episode of the Classic Pinball Podcast. My name is George, and I'm joined by my co-host, Commander Dave. Hello, Dave. Hello, Junior Commander George. How am I Commander George? How did I get that rank? Well, you haven't been paying attention. I know you're not much of a football guy. the Washington football team before they were called the Washington Redskins. Hey, no slings, no arrows. That's some cultural appropriation there, George. So they just renamed their team the Washington Commanders. So you're going to command today's show in that we're going to talk about the Rolling Stones. Now... I'm only one-eighth commander. Go ahead. I don't even know what that means, so I don't want to. Let's start with the Rolling Stones. Can you tell me a little bit about the background of the game to get us started? Yeah, so it's one of two ballet games from the time frame that had a rock and roll theme. This one and Kiss. And Rolling Stones, they made 5,700 units. Jim Patla did the design. He also did Kiss. And Greg Freres did the art. The cool thing about this game is this game came out in 1980, so they had more software, more tunes. They incorporated more Rolling Stone tunes into this game more than Kiss. So, you know, you get the Satisfaction tune and Jumpin' Jack Flash and a couple other ones in there mixed in. Well, they have Miss You, which I've heard. but it says on IPDB, and I don't own the game, when the whip comes down. Now, I don't know if I've ever heard that played and if that's the truth or not. I don't even know what the whip comes down is. I'll play it for you later. I'm a big fan of the Rolling Stones. Oh, okay. We'll just get that out of the way. All right. I've seen the phones. I've seen the phones. I've seen the Stones four different times. Wow. starting in 1975. We can talk about that a little bit if you'd like. Is there anything else you'd like to talk about the game before we go and actually see it and play it? I don't know, George. I really like this game. I would say I'm not missing KISS that much, but as Rolling Stone comes in, I really like this game. It's a lot of fun, a lot of features on it. Let's talk about KISS, the KISS podcast we did. and how we left our audience. You've scarred me. I did, George. How did I do that? With your junk comments. Ah, the junk, yes. I can't look at that game, and I'm a big Stones fan, as I just said. This is not, believe it or not, a game I really like from a visual standpoint. Yeah, looking at, well, see, what I did to this game, George, is on the back glass. I did a hybrid effect. I did partial LED and partially condescent light in the back glass. Had it all lit up and then I realized, you know what? I think we have too much McPackage going on. Not like, you know, McDonald's, but McPackage. And we had to un-McPackage that so we delighted that part of the back glass. That is... And I was very delighted with the effect. It's one of my least favorite... I don't even want to say outfits because I sound kind of strange. But it's not the way that I want to see Mick Jagger dressed. How's that? Sounds fair enough, George. And having seen him enough times, I know he can be somewhat outrageous, not as much as other artists, which we've talked about in other shows, but he can be flagrant with the visuals. I also de-lighted his nipples too, because those were a little too much. Stop. So I said that I've seen them four times. I'm going to go through all the shows I've seen them. I saw them in 1975, Tour of the Americas. We're going to discuss this when we look at the game, but the lotus flower that's on the bottom of the play field between the flippers, we're going to talk about that. And I'm going to show you something on my iPad, and you're going to say, wow, that's a pretty wild concert for 1975. I also saw them the 81 tour. And this is a great story. You've heard it several times. They did outdoors at JFK Stadium, which I think has since been removed in Philadelphia. The bill was George Thorogood, Journey, and the Rolling Stones. You remember the Journey part of the story, right? Yeah, everybody booed Journey. off stage they're pissed off and then we want the stones no it was boom you suck get off the stage yeah the the city of brotherly brotherly love i never saw anything like that and i've never seen anything like that since george thoroughgood had everybody worked up journey came on and started playing the journey rock and it was just the wrong band for the wrong audience anyway so that was show two show three the old Schaefer Stadium in Foxborough Massachusetts in 19 I wrote it down before Gillette it was Schaefer 1994 do you know that Schaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one I do because I lived in the New Jersey New York area and that was a very popular beer what are they trying to say with that slogan get sloshed basically bang a lot of beers Shaper is the one beer to have when you're having more than one. Shaper pleasure doesn't fade even when your thirst is done. The most rewarding flavor in this man's world for people who are having fun. Schaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one When I... Okay, don't shut off the podcast. I'm a New York Giants fan, and I used to go with my dad to Yankee Stadium. And we sat as far up in the back, if you were playing baseball, left-hand field, as far as you could go into the stadium. There was a guy called Big John. When I say big, he was big. Was he Big Bad John? No, he was just Big John. Okay, good. That's what they called him. He would order a case of Schaefer for the football game and drink it. Yes. Himself? Yes. He wouldn't give too many away. Let's put it that way. He wasn't selfish, but he could. I never saw anything, again, what was I, 11, 12? I had never seen anything quite like that before. So memories of Yankee Stadium were digressing. So the fourth show, I got to see the Rolling Stones in Montreal, Canada. What a great show in the Olympic Stadium, no less. It was December of 94, did I say that? I think I had the wrong date for Foxborough. Oh, no, they were both on the same tour. That's right. I saw them twice. on the same tour. And they were unbelievable there, indoors. But it was the coldest winter Carl Weathers I've ever experienced. I live in New Hampshire. Montreal takes the cake. It was like 30 below up there. Crazy time. That's some cold Carl Weathers there, George. And also, there's a gigantic arcade in Montreal. Used to be, anyway, right on Catherine Saint-Denis. Ever been to Montreal? No, I haven't. Well, no, I have not been to Montreal. Oh, man. Great city. Fun city. Anyway, so. Yes, correctamundo. I just got a little, in my earpiece, I just heard the producer just give me some information, but I can't share it, though, George, so go ahead. Although we do have something from Stu Nahum. Do you know who Stu Nahum is, George? No, but you have to talk at the microphone. All right, let's see. I'm going to head over to the Australian and the Hawaiian internationals, and me and Mick are going to wing on over to London and jam with the Stones. Okay. You guys are invited, too. Yes, Bacoli. Bacoli, yes. He's going to jam with the Stones, George. He's going to come over and play some ballet pinball. I wasn't thinking. I'm thinking about the next thing I'm going to say. Okay, that's a good one. um did you ever have growing up as a kid an oldie station that had the beetle stones weekend yeah sounds familiar yeah actually i had one that actually did uh they called it sticks and stones they played sticks and stones no yeah no it didn't break any bones you know yeah they did They just take some stones. No, they did not. Anyway, I don't know if I ever talked about this, but I guess the reason why I really like the Rolling Stones is I had a cousin, older cousin, who was into music, obviously, as a teenager. She used to babysit. And she had great boyfriends who always drove GTOs that had 8-track players in them. Nice. And inevitably there would be the Stones, Grand Funk Railroad, early Grand Funk Railroad, Grand Funk. and Sly and the Family Stone. I don't know if anybody's really into that, but she kind of got me going on rock and roll, and we used to listen to the Beatles' Stones Weekend when she babysit on a Saturday night. And I think, I don't know if he worked. You know who Cousin Brucey is, right? Yes. The guy who's in the Beatles game? He was a broadcaster in New York, a rock jock. Cousin Brucey! That guy, right? That guy. Okay. You want to migrate to Kiss for a few minutes? Sure. Didn't mention this in the show. I went to the Kiss restaurant in California when I went to Indisc. It's called Rock and Brews. Okay. Ask me later. I'll show you some pictures. Pretty cool place. So if you're ever in, I think I went to the one in Redondo Beach. Good place to have a drink and hang out. A lot of rock memorabilia. It sounds a little rough and tumble, so Rock and Brew, is that B-R-U-I-S-E? No, it's B-R-E-W-S. Oh, that's a different place. Like drinking, which we'll do in a little bit. Okay. What else do I have? Oh, on the rock and roll theme, I'm going to ask you, when do you think you're going to get your Rush game? I've got to contact my distributor, but I'm thinking it's like late February maybe, mid to late February, coming up soon, a couple weeks. I don't know. We're going to do anything special? Yeah, we should. Hell yeah. You know what? I was really, I went to a customer site recently, and I delivered, can I say what game I delivered? Okay. It's a teaser. 8-Ball Deluxe. Oh, okay. Yeah. Right. The beautiful 8-Ball Deluxe, minted out, best thing I've done, creme de la creme game we did. And while I was there, he has a nice collection of new Sterns, and he had a Mando LE, which I never played before. I never played the Mandalorian. You didn't play it when we were at Pintastic? Nope. He said, you've got to play this game. I said, I'll play it. And you know what I was blown away with was the sound quality of that stirrer. The LEs, they put in a better sound package with a shaker motor. It's not a really good stock. And I bought this $400 pinwoofer system to put in this rush I'm going to get. I don't know how it's going to be better, but I'll put it in anyway. But that sounds really good, the LE. They really stepped up. If you don't like it, you can always resell it. Yeah. Yeah, my friend PJ is going to get a premium, so he could probably use that. Oh, he's getting one too? Oh, yeah. He's a big Rush fan too. Really? Yeah. Wow. They're both Rush fanatics. I'm kind of feeling left out. Well, get a Rush pin, George. No, I'm not going to get a Rush pin. You know what? There is a Journey pin, Spuzz. That's a big rumor. Oh, yeah. That's even lower on the list. I'm going to put Journey next to it. I'm going to buy a Journey pin. Have you gone out and watched anything on YouTube or on Twitch about your game? Have you seen any footage yet, or are you trying to stay away from it? I've seen some footage, but just a little teaser. I have not watched in-depth stuff. I'd rather play the game myself and just discover. If you're looking for a podcast that will give you a little bit different information on the game, I listened to it yesterday. Ed Ed Robertson from the Bare Naked Ladies, the band, was part of working with Rush to put this game out. They were on the Loser Kid podcast this week. It's under an hour, worth a listen. And I know everybody says, why are you promoting other podcasts? Hey, look, when there's something decent out there, I'm going to say something about it. And if you're interested in Rush and you're interested about how the game came about, worth listening to. So if you haven't, Dave, you should. I think I heard, I saw a mention of that on Pinside about that. I did not check it out yet, but perhaps I will. I'd like to talk about something you sent me a couple of days ago I'm going to stay with the rock and roll theme how did you come up with the band the mixed up everything where did you find them i it came up as a youtube suggestion and maybe i was searching on some different rock and roll concerts whatever and that i don't know how that came up but as soon as i clicked on it they were busking you know busking is george yes okay i'm old but i'm not that old okay so actually that's something that is very old okay yeah well there you go so they were doing this bus but they they had small time roots and I just was fascinated by boy these guys all look kind of similar somehow. They have the same kind of kinky long blonde hair. I found out later they're all brothers. They all started around three, five. I think that's the most interesting part about them. They're like the Osmonds but better. They are not the Osmonds. The one that stood out to me I thought was the best out of them and maybe it's just have a propensity to go in that direction was the drummer. Yes, the same thing. I like the drummer. I like how he's always having a good time. He looks like an animal, but he's like, he just has a great personality. It comes through. So, I wanted to just mention it because we're on this kind of rock theme right now. If you have a chance, go out and listen, folks. They're decent. I like that song, Knucklehead, and actually I might use that in a broadcast upcoming. They sound just like, I mean, they have their own two CDs out, but they've done a lot of covers from Metallica, Scorpions, Alice in Chains, and they sound just like these artists, these bands, even the singers. How would you categorize their sound? It's that 80s hair band kind of thing. Want to hear mine? Yeah. How about polished metal? Okay. Polished metal. I like it. That sounds good. I like polished metal. I do that a lot, George. Not even going to respond. That could go... That could go many ways, George. It's not going in that direction. And they're from Australia. Right, right. Well, again, were you looking up something on YouTube from Australia? We've got to give a shout out to our buddy Grant. Yes. Who I guess is a fan of Kiss. And I forgot to ask you this in that show, too. I went back and listened and I said, oh, man, I forgot. Did you go talk to Kevin O'Connor at Pintastic? I never got to. I never got to. I saw him sitting there. Yeah. I couldn't figure out, and you know me, I could pretty much talk with anybody. I couldn't really figure out what I wanted to talk to the guy. He was just sitting there. He looked so lonely. Aw, poor Kevin. Yeah, I probably should. Do you look approachable? I regret it now. Because I didn't know we were going to record that, but I have a lot of his artwork on my game. Where was he sitting? He sitting in the hallway somewhere? He was back in where the tournament and all the vendors were, where Legends of Alhalla, whoever, I think that was a main distributor. Sorry, I can't remember your name. Whoever the main distributor was, they had like four or five games. He had a big table right next to it. what was on his table a book nothing nothing real it was kind of like I said it was kind of weird and nobody was there nobody was talking to the guy he was just kind of hunched over He was looking or drawing or doing something I don know I was playing games Hmm. Okay. There's a great movie quote that would go here. Home Alone. When the mother says, Kevin! That would go good right here, George. Now, we were supposed to today. And if you haven't figured it out, folks, we went and recorded a bunch of stuff at the end of last year which I've been releasing do you have or are we going to see Evil Knievel shortly? Is that in the queue? That is definitely in the queue. There's a lot of games people have been waiting for quite a while these days it was six months to a year for some of this stuff and so Evil Knievel is making its tech area debut this month and then uh firepower is uh right in there as well uh right afterwards and then uh there's one more another firepower another firepower you know how much i love williams games they treat me so well when i do we're going to talk about that in a little bit yeah um gremlin gremlin gremlin the reason i mentioned evil kenevil is i went back and listened to episode three and we had talked about uh a guy i played the game with you probably don't remember Matt. He's part of Rage Tilt Pinball. So I wanted to just give a shout out to them. I had seen them Matt and Becca at the Pintastic show. They had a booth. Go visit their store and buy some of their merch. Are those the guys with the cardboard pinball machines? Pinbox? Where you can use a ball and the little cardboard flippers? What's Pinbox 2000? No, they sell t-shirts, pins all kinds of tchotchke stuff ok almost like putting your refrigerator magnets I don't remember all the designs but they have some pretty wild designs go out and visit Rage Tilt Pinball oh yeah the customer I delivered the firepower to he said I heard you sold your kiss so I want this as a little he gave me some lovely little gifts too very nice of him when I delivered the game. My wife and I delivered the game. He said, I got this for you. Never mind the money he gave me for it, which is very well appreciated. But his little kiss. He gave me a little miniature kiss pinball machine. I've seen those. I think they're on Etsy. Somebody makes like a... Did you have to put it together? No, you have to put it together. It comes all together. Was it made of wood or plastic? I think plastic. Huh, cool. Yeah, Maury can get it. Go get it, Maury. Cool. She'll come and... Carol Merrill will just bring it right over. you'll see behind the showcase showdown or whatever. Is there anything else that we need to talk about before we go downstairs? Yes. Rolling Stones color scheme. What were they thinking? It should have been the Union Jack red, white, and blue and they chose purple, pink, and white. Can I stop you? Yeah. And if I'm getting ahead of myself Oh, that's... Isn't that cute, George? A little kiss. Oh, that's really neat. So that'll remind you of the game you sold. didn't you have your cabinet painted with the union jack i was going to i was i was leaning that way but then the painter i don't know it didn't work out he's too busy or the color wasn't right it just got kind of weird and they said nah you know we just kind of parted ways and whatever. And then I found and then I had Dave do it, Matrando, for me later on. And I said, no, let's just go with the original color scheme. We'll keep it original. It's one of the reasons I really don't like this game. Why did they do it? I'd like to know the story about it. Well, first off, the Rolling Stones, and again, you kind of question what their involvement was that tongue should be white red and black it shouldn't be any other color it should be now the stones have evolved over time and used a lot of different color schemes and designs but i don't get the you know basically the future spot colors here's i'm reading a little bit of ipbd it says however the trademark tongue was supposed to be red and the union jack colors were incorrect these chemists said red and blue reversed from what they should have been this was corrected during production. The band name in red letters and red tongue trademark Union Jack with its proper colors. Greg Fierce told us that when artists did the stencil art, they seldom got to see a proof before production. He intended the tongue to be red in all games and the cabinet front was intended to be the Union Jack. All the back boxes in the production run are painted the same and Fierce believes they are correct to have more red than blue. It doesn't address the purple and the pink though. They had leftover paint from Future Spa. They must have had gallons of it or barrels of it. Well, they figured everybody's smoking a lot of doobs back then. They're not going to know his difference. It was an afterthought. If it were me and I were to redo the game, and I think people have, I would have the Union Jack on the side with the Stones logo and paint it up in red, white, black. Red, white, blue. Why black? Black is in the tongue of the Rolling Stones. Okay. So anyway, that's what I would do. And then the play field, we're going to talk about that when we get downstairs in the basement. Down in the basement. Yeah. Do you know, let's talk about the backlash again. Let's talk about Elvira too. You know Elvira, I know she's got the big grapefruits going on. and to make it family friendly, they actually sold a booby thing you put over that so that you wouldn't see the mounding nice things that Avira had on the back glass. So I'm thinking the same thing for mixed packages, some kind of codpiece that you kind of put over that as a modification. I would have gone with him dressed up as Yankee Doodle where he had the red, white, and blue suit on with the top hat. And a flute? No, no, no flute. No flute. We're going to talk about that show. And a feather out of his hat. No. He did have a feather boa multiple times when I saw him perform. That's a little questionable, George. Now I know why his shirt was undone and his nipples were out. He's part of that whole androgynous movement. Ah, the bowie thing. Yeah, there were a pile of them. Aleister Crowley, most likely. Another fan of him, probably. Are you done? Do you have any more stories? Because if not, we're going to... Stone stories? What kind of stories? Other stories? Anything you want to talk about, unless you want to talk about it when we're playing downstairs. Oh, how about this? How about Lyman Sheets? You know, heard about Lyman Sheets, the poor guy? I only have one Lyman story, so you first. All right, so Lyman Sheets, I found out, actually was going to the same arcade I was going to, and I cut my teeth on him back in the late 70s, early 80s. No way. And he grew up in Wayland, and he went to fun and games all the time. Is that true? Yep, and all the high scores in all the games had his CHP chip name on them. PJ's brother, Stu's wife. Does he know him? No, but his wife, Tammy, went to the same high school with his brother-in-law. Something like that. Tammy's brother-in-law went to the same school or something. Wait a second. I watched this last night. Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Yeah, that one. When the girl goes, Oh, I heard from Sally, whose sister, whose brother-in-law, is married to the teacher, who's the superintendent of the fire department. He knows the commander of the army. I mean, come on. Insert that clip. Hold on. Well, Tammy went to school. They're acquaintances. Tammy went to school with his brother-in-law and Tammy's class. Stop, stop. People's heads are throbbing. Stop it. So, long story short, he was going to the same arcade, playing the same games I was playing, and kicking ass at fun games. You love pitching that place. I do. Those people should, why don't you call them and say, hey, would you like to be a sponsor of our show? Not a bad idea. I need to get them back all the material that I borrowed from them first. Oh, no, don't, don't, don't. I'm going to get the material back first. No, no contact. Keep the crap. I want to give it back to us. No hurry. No hurry. We should go through that one day. Yeah, we should go through it one day. You should pick some of that stuff out and we can talk about it. Okay. I got a lot of Saturday morning. Saturday morning, Fun and Games commercial. You're watching Bugs Bunny, that kind of thing. All of a sudden, come on down to Fun and Games. They show the whole place with the spinning lights and everything else. They've heard you pontificate about this arcade. I actually have the VCR tape and all the stuff from that time. Well, maybe record it so we can include it in one of our shows. It's not a bad idea, George. Yeah. I like where you're going with that. Well, we're not going to make the mistake in this show. You are actually going to record the songs from Rolling Stone for me. Okay. You didn't do that for the last couple of weeks. I didn't. I missed it. That's okay. That's okay. We're going to talk about the sounds in Rolling Stone a little bit. So with that, are we done? I think so. But don't worry about one more thing. The firepower is another firepower company. You know how pissed off people get? I know. It's great. I like it. We say one more thing about nine more times. Yeah, my... This is our phone conversation. It is. Only one more thing. I know why. Because a lot of customers... Who are you, Columbo? Yes. One more thing, ma'am. That just went over all the people who are less than 35 years old. Our audience is probably a little older than yours. That's okay. And if you're not, look it up. That's all. We use your... It's not yogurt. Use DuckDuckGo. Don't use Google. DuckDuckGo is a little better. Go ahead. So in the queue, I forgot to mention Gorgar. I plan to have Evil Knievel, Gorgar, and Firepower all done by May timeframe to get everything copasthetic. And then I can concentrate on even bigger restorations that are waiting, and I can kindly get caught up a little bit. So I have a lot more coming in that are waiting at the door, knocking at the door, kind of bringing my game over, and I'm saying, get away a little bit. I think our lineup has been less than stellar, but I want to remind the audience, we do these shows in what comes through Dave's house. I still have a couple of games in my collection, but I had an epiphany, and I watched him yesterday until his camera blew up. Chuck Webster. Chuck Webster, yeah, good guy. We... I'd like to... Chuck listens. Chuck, I'd like to approach you to come for a visit. I'm going to extend an invitation to myself. You've got all these rock and roll machines. He does. We could do a really cool program on that. Sure. If he hasn't done it already. And again, I don't know if you've done other podcasts, but I want to kind of do a little bit of a different spin. Not interview you personally, but talk to you about all your rock games. Because you have a lot of them. Yeah. That's kind of your thing, I think. That was an idea. I like it. Do you have one more thing for the fifth time? I think I don't, George. So, George, right now we're at Rolling Stones. We're about to play. But we first have to do like in war games in those 1980s movies where you need to turn your key, sir. There. Okay, key has been turned. So what are you drinking? I'm drinking a Baxter IPA. That's from Maine, I think, right? Uh, it could be, let's see, Baxter, Independent Craft from Maine, Lewiston, where Mr. and Mrs. Wiz live. Oh, they live there? Sharon Blair lives there. Oh, jeez. I'm having a Pebble, double IPA from Vermont Beer Makers, and they are in Springfield, Vermont. I've never had this beer. Just up in Vermont, actually, last week. skiing in 30 below they had a game room at the hotel yeah you already you already know the answer uh let's see broken down crappy or all video games redemption and kitty gambling kitty great good times good times yes my granddaughter came home with four super balls well that's great what those what those balls cost anyway didn't even ask 50 bucks didn't didn't ask We keep talking about the color scheme of this game. Even the color scheme of the back glass is less than... It's kind of drab. It is. It's kind of... What Bally did during this time frame, the late 70s stuff, especially mid-70s, early 70s, they had a lot better color. They changed how they did it. They did more of a almost photographic versus CMYK. I'm not sure of the process exactly what they did, but it's not as bright and vibrant. It's more, let's call it thin. Muted. Muted, thinner. I mean, compared to the... Like the Mata Hari. Mata Hari is rich, vibrant, deep. I mean, compared to the play field on this game, which isn't so horrendous, and actually, again, the images... You know what? They used images that people recognize of Mick Jagger, but those are not the ones that I would use. That one with that, you know, I don't even know how you describe it, the yoga pants and the sleeveless top, and then the gangster kind of 20s look on the other side in front of the Target Bank. It's a little... I guess is what you call that. We're not allowed to say that. I'm going to have to beep that. No, you can't say that. I can't say that. What can I say? How about... Femme. A little femme. A little feminine. Okay. Feminine. Okay. Yes. We can go with that and not get canceled, accused. Accused and whatever. You know what else is missing from this game, this ballet game? You know, Kiss did it right on their art package. And they put nice grapefruit-sized boobies everywhere. Beautiful girls. There's not one grapefruit girl in this at all. Yeah, well, there's a girl. There's one girl, Blum. She's just over there. Well, she's got the... She's fully clothed. She's got the, what do they call that in comics? The word balloon. Word balloon. Yeah, covering everything. And then you've got Mick Jagger up top right with a microphone looking very femme. He's got the eye makeup on. He's got blue eye shadow. Well, that was his thing, though, back in the day. He looks more womanly than the woman on the left. We're talking artwork, so we'll continue. So I mentioned earlier in the program that the stone stage for the 1975 tour was called the Lotus Flower. And they used six petals of the flower that were triangular shaped and they opened up at the concert. The other thing I failed to mention is when I did see them, I saw them the last night of a five-night stand at Madison Square Garden, which, believe it or not, was not the first time a band had done that. The Who had done it, I believe, the year before they had a five night stand also at madison square garden so all these mega bands were into who could sell out more shows in new york city than the other big bands do you know what the lotus flower represents george you're gonna tell me the lotus flower is an ancient reference to mystical forces and drug-induced magic well it was a pretty cool effect because the flower opened up and the band, well, Mick Jagger was actually hanging off the top of one of the triangles that protruded into the orchestra. So it was a very effective opening to a show. The other neat thing about that tour was there were no speakers at all on the stage. Everything was hung above the stage and I don't think that had been done like it had been done for this stage so it was open so if you were sitting in Madison Square Garden no matter where you were sitting you could actually see the performers on the stage which was very very unique I had seen a lot of shows there this game is I have to say stunning and George do you notice any uh upgrades that you can tell that i've done this well i mean you've got some some bright white on it uh i'm guessing leds in certain spots yeah warm leds the slings yeah warm leds and all the gi yeah it looks it looks really i mean it's a beautiful game where did uh where did this game come from and how long have you had it this game is actually uh a customer in sudbury it wasn't working but in decent shape so he brought the game to you no she is actually she yeah uh very nice woman in sudbury and I went over there to get the game and bring it in here, oh, I don't know, last year sometime. And she was in no rush to get it back, just wants it nicely done and reliable. So we just about finished with it, now we're playtesting it. Do you notice anything about the displays, George? Oh, I notice that yours are working. Okay. Except, why is there a 90 in the first player? That is the, I did a software upgrade on this. So that's the, you know, Oliver, Rom. Are we going to have some more display talk? Yes. A little bit. You sure? A little bit. Not too crazy. But these are not. Well, you know we have to revisit one of our past shows about my display issue. Oh, yeah. We never did a conclusion. That's true, George. We didn't do a conclusion. Well, we're going to wait a few minutes. All right. Well I tell you this game had some less than desirable let say rotten dog LED displays that someone haphazardly put in there years ago Does that company even exist No I think they gone Okay Yeah so we can talk about them You know Like that matters Yeah exactly They didn't do a really good job. You saw the green circuit board behind the thing. It just screamed, this is like a... So whose are these? And it had like a seven-digit one in one of the things, and all the rest was six-digit. It was dumb. So these ones, doesn't it look like a plasma to you? They look great. Like a crispy plasma. They look really good. Who's the manufacturer? Pinatech. All assembled? No, no. You had to put them together? Oh, yeah. So you want to talk about this now? Sure. So I did the... It took three hours. I did what? Three hours to do five displays. Oh, you did a lot better than me, but that's not surprising. I did the Wolf Pack. Honest? this looks a little bit better and the one the one the one issue i had with and the kid is easy and i'm not crapping on them it doesn't matter and it was cheap 30 for 34 delivered for the uh for the display i thought it was reasonable for one okay which was reasonable I put it in the credit area and the ball in play it was a little bit bigger than it should have been it's in the right spot but it didn't look correct when I put it with all the others and it does work independently that's the one thing that's really good about that product I found out these do too so can you buy just one? yep I can mix and match I can put plasma in there or whatever. Do you know how much it would be if it was one? Well, I know it's $180 for a set of five. So about the same price point. It sounds like the same price point. Yeah. I'm grateful that they exist, and if I were to do it again, I would buy a whole kit and do a whole game. And it comes with gray tint. That's what I wanted to ask you. And it's awesome. It comes with beautiful. Mine doesn't have a tint with it. Yeah, you need the tint. And you can see. So where do you get the tint? It comes with a kit. No, but. Oh, where do you get it? I didn't get one. Oh. Do you have an extra? Yeah, I have more. I actually got more from them. I said, can I buy some from you? So I have more tint. I can give you some tint. I just need one. Okay. Because I can see where you don't see the pronouncement of all the digits. Wait, did you say you want tint or you want mixed taint? Which one do you want? Why do you do this to me? Okay. we're having way too much fun today let's describe the game before we turn it on beer yeah so first things first there are four lanes on top of the game when you do the plunge they spell rock so one of the objectives of the game you have on the right hand side a drop target bank of four on the left hand side you have a single target that you can knock down and then put a ball into a saucer. Here's my question. Yes. On the left and right side, what do you call those turnaround things? Horseshoes. And hand grenades. Did I hear this correctly? If you hit that post, do you get points? You do. You get 10 points every time. How does that work? It's interesting you say that, George. This is the only game they had, as far as I know. That's why I asked, because I read about it. I said, how does that work? Because the post normally, is a screw into the play field. It doesn't have a T-nut. It's actually screwed into the play field. So how does this work in, you know? So these posts are part of a switch assembly that's not screwed to the play field. I think the play field is part of a switch, and it's very durable on there. And when you hit the post, it still bounces the ball back, but it makes the post bend down a tiny bit to hit a switch, and then you get your points. And it makes a feedback sound on the – And so there's a lot of guitar feedback sound in this game. You feel like there's a guitar work going on with this game. I'm going to save my sound piece for when we're playing. It's got an Italian bottom. It's got two, you know, two drains. I don't see one good Italian bottom on this game, George. There's no grapefruit, no Italian bottom. It's got an Italian bottom. Okay. It's got the two open lanes on the side. Yes. You know, pretty traditional game. Nothing fancy. again I think I have not played this game a lot I have played it but it was never one of my favorites and I know that's probably disappointing to some of our audience this needs a ROM hack and I'm calling out to Scott you know who you are, this needs your expertise, you know how to do this kind of stuff and you've done a lot of great work in the past, all it really needs is to limit the carry over of the multipliers because once you get a multiplier it stays with you for the whole game, it should go back to zero. Well, that's helpful for somebody like me. Because all you get to do, I mean, every time you spell rock, you get a multiplier. And you don't have to always go up the top to get rock. What's the highest bonus you can get in this game? 70. No, wait. 70 times 5. So every time you spell rock, that's the multiplier? The multiplier of that, yeah. It stays. And you can get a letter in rock by when this is flashing. that gives you a letter, the center post there in the middle there. So what you do, you hit the drop target on the left. I've already been instructed on how to play this game. And you just keep hitting the freaking saucer. You saw the email from our friend Grant. I did, but I didn't really get that. I listened. I'm not going to tell you what he told me. Hopefully his advice is good. I got that email, didn't I? You did. You don't read anything. How do you know, George? Because you don't know what I'm talking about, which is good. I skim things. Go ahead. The 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, what does that do? That gets you your 20, 40, 60 holdovers. So that's a bonus. So the numbers are bonus. Numbers are holdover 20, 40, 60. Where else do you get bonus on this game? You get bonus on this game. Do you get bonus for the... Horseshoes. Okay, do you get bonus for knocking down targets? You do not. Or just points? I think that's just points. Just random points. How about the rock lanes? Rock lanes, I don't think so. Oh, so it's really just the numbers? Yeah, just the numbers. Numbers and the turnarounds. Are those turnarounds deadly? They were at first until I adjusted them. So you go around the horseshoe the wrong way, it comes flinging out and down the freaking straight down the middle. But not anymore. I fixed that. Because what it's supposed to do, when you go around the turnaround, it's supposed to come back around to the opposite flipper you shot from and land there. And then you're supposed to hit the other horseshoe, opposite flipper, opposite flipper, opposite flipper, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. How many times can you do it in a row? Back in the day when I played this game, I did a lot. I won so many games in this game back in the day in the arcade. People were waiting to play the game. They had the quarters stacked up. I'd have about 15 credits racked up, and I'd sell them off for half price, and I'd take their money, and then I'd go play some Missile Command or something for a while until I got bored of that and I needed to win more. So is this one of the easier games to win games on? It can be. I'd say 8-Bone Lux is probably the easiest to really win. Bally paid off in specials. Bally was a great gambling game. They actually gave you lots of specials, lots of ways to win. So, yeah, you could rack them up in this game. But Gottlieb was very stingy. Stern was kind of stingy. Gottlieb didn't give up any specials. Hard to win them. Bally was the special king. They were always paying off free games. Why don't we stop delaying and turn the game on and actually play a game and see if I can compete. Well, I'm going to give you, Columbo, one more thing. Oh, no. So these Pentatech displays, the reason why I went with these, the guys, they sold me on it because I read all about them. Their goal was to make these displays look just like plasma or better or just the same thing. And they succeeded the way they did the... They look great. They do look great. In fact, I put a regular good plasma display in Player 2 and everything else was the new Pentatech stuff. And I actually like this better than plasma, which is amazing because I love plasma. But these look just... Right, but they don't draw the power. I know they don't draw the pot but I'm saying the look the look is fantastic they've nailed it you're giving away the milk here we're doing like a commercial for these guys we want money from you guys too give me some free displays it's why people listen I'm hoping it's one of the reasons why people listen to us because you get a lot of games through here you come in contact with a lot of different products and I think it's time to beg for a minute I don't think I've ever asked our audience for anything. We have a Patreon account? No, no, no. I'm not going to go there. But I'm going to ask everybody. Just do me a favor. Just tell one person. If you listen to us on a regular basis, just please tell one person to listen to us. I've watched our numbers drop a little bit. I don't understand why. It might be our content for the last month. Last year we were blasting, and I know we were in COVID, and people weren't doing anything. But I'm asking politely. Just turn one person on and just say, there's got to be something out of the 75 shows these guys have done that you'd be interested in, whether it be a game or a show. And we'll go from there. So, thanks. Fair enough, George. Turn the game on. Turn the game on. Enough of the public service. All right, here we go. Here we go. I don't like begging, but... Yeah, I miss you. Oh, I didn't play you When the Whip Comes Down. When the whip comes down. I have no idea what the song is. I have no idea. I was going to say, you do have a decent voice. Thank you. You know what? My lovely wife, I love her to death, but she said the other day, you can't sing that well. It's like, I said, yes, I can. I'm a musician. I play piano. I'm on key. Yes, you can. Thank you. Compared to me, I sound like you threw three cats in a dryer. Thank you. You don't. No, you don't sound like that. I sound like that. Okay. Okay. Yeah. So do you want me to do play-by-play, or do you want to do play-by-play? You can do some play-by-play. I might intermix a little bit in there. I'll do an intermix formula. Okay. So as I said earlier, Dave's going to plunge the ball, and you've got four lanes up top, R-O-C-K Spell Rock, first time, two times three times, then five times and I set this game on all conservative settings so hardest settings because this game needs it because you can kick this game's ass if not so and even with the conservative settings you still can kick the game's ass in fact, the Oliver ROM hack I have in here is actually a 7 digit ROM hack but I only have 6 digit displays I'm going to upgrade either this game or my own Rolling Stone to 7 digit but yeah this game could use especially if you keep nailing that saucer let's see if we can do that right now so there is no limit to that no okay so dave has got two letters the o and the c now he's got the k he needs the r to get two times all i gotta do is hit the middle target right there there we go there's two times oh so he hit the center target a little deadly but that gave him ROCK. Okay, so I like that. That makes things a little bit easier. See, it's hitting a little do-do-do-do-do. No, the game has really nice play in it. He's got great... You didn't go with clear rubbers again, but they work. I like the white. I went traditional on this one. I went traditional silicone white. Even though there are no silicone girls on the game. Again, we're going to complain about that one. The apron on this game is flawless. That's really nice looking, too. This is a... This is an original factory Mylar playfield. It was actually low plays. It cleaned up nice. Oh, I didn't even notice. Yeah, it's factory Mylar. Oh, look how nice that is. Even the non-Mylar area is nice, too. Yeah, this game is really nice. Okay, so I plunged the ball, and I got the C in rock. And I've got a couple of bonus. There you go. Now you've got the O and the K. I don't like that turnaround thing. What did you call it? That's the horseshoe. I used to love, there you go, I loved going around there. Round and round she goes, there you go, this is a bonus. Okay. Bum, bum, ba-ba-bum, ba-bum. Extra ball, let's go up there. He has extra ball ready to go already. See, it's a little too early for extra ball, I think. All right, that's awesome. Okay, I'm going to go for, no, I'm going for the targets. Oh, good, you got a 20. All you need is the one right now, the one and the five. Come on. Let's see. I'm trying to get that single target. You've got a little shake on it. I've got to adjust that. This is the playtester in our show. I know. I'm always the guy. We're playtesting. I'm always the playtester. Oh. Look how fast it comes down. Okay, so I'm competing with Dave. Wow, 71 to 73. Competing with Dave. It's a horse race. Grant, you did a good job. I get it. I think Grant would still rather have a kiss, though, right, than this game? Yeah, he was a little, I don't know if upset's the right word, but I didn't say some flattering things about Kiss, and I think that's one of his grill games. And he calls the game Kizz instead of Kiss. He's Australian. And I'm not going to do a bad Australian accent, okay? Okay, so here we go. A fella, a quick fella. Might have a weapon under there. Yo. The pin is head to the panel. I got the L again. The bumper action is awesome in this game. And I only have the L one saved. Oh, and I just got another letter. And I just knocked all the targets down. What's that get me? It gives you 15,000 points. Oh, that was horrible. You got a random award on that one. Horrible. When PJ was over there, we played nothing but this game for hours. He said, this is a great game. so I'm definitely glad I have a... So far I'm liking the game. It's a great game. It's better than Kiss. Yeah, as long as you don't look at the back glass in the cabinet, it's pretty good. If only this had the Kiss artwork on it with the babes. Some would say I have a one-track mind, but I don't know. I have a couple tracks. Mix a little... It's like an eight-track tape. Mix a little... A little bit packagey? No, no. Oh, okay. I just saw you hit that post. Oh, you son of a bitch. That's pretty cool. I like that. Is that a problematic piece to this game? Yeah, a lot of time has broken off, and people just put a regular post in there, and that's no fun. It doesn't do a little feedback sound. Okay, so this is third ball, right? Yeah, ball three, yeah. Is this it for me? This is it. I have 216. George has 140 right now. So I guess you don't really need a seven-digit scoring on this game, according to what we're doing right now. Well, first time. But we haven't really kicked its ass yet, though. First time. You don't see this game at shows, either. This game does not really show up. Oh. Okay, came up short. One for Dr. Dave. Okay, good game. Fun game to play. So let's see if we can blow this thing up. So Dave takes the game. 216 to 172. Nobody's surprised. Time for some more. More. Liquid. More liquid. Did I finish my beer already? You might have. Wow. George, Rolling Stones is making me almost finish my Baxter beer. I pounded that. Good for you. I'm going to go for round two. Grant really misses Kiss. Yeah, that sound. Yeah, it's a feedback sound. I don't like it. So now I'm going to get the five with the blinky thing. So I saved a couple of items for when we came down here. All right. One is, this game was manufactured, I believe, in May of 1980? Yes, the 80s. The game that followed it was Hot Doggin', which was a game we've done in the past. Yeah, I sold a beautiful one. Right. But it had to go. Other than the songs, it's got the same damn sound package. Really? Not that... Well, does this background sound intensify? It can go away if you want it to. Right, so that's on Hot Doggin'. Okay. Yeah, they used the same stuff there. Yeah, they used exactly the same thing except the songs. So if you look at IPD, IPDB, you'll see that the turnaround for Hot Doggin' was six months. This game took over a year. Hot Doggin' was six months. Okay. Well, it's a better game than hotdogging. Oh, this is a real nice game. This is a great game. I'm getting used to those horseshoes. Is that on any other game? No, not as far as I know. I don't think so. Really? No. So this game does have some unique things in it. It does. It really does. More horseshoe. Oh, missed it. Horseshoes can be kind of dangerous. Whoa, special on the horseshoe. Oh, it didn't go in the saucer. Awesome. Yeah, awesome. I bet. Sorry. Let's see. It's going to go to the saucer again. That's missing good points there. Oh, yes. Oh, again. Denied. Fail. Denied. Fail. Oh, he's getting deadly hitting that center target. Oh, boy. Again. Wow. Double. Three times. The center target. Wow. Wow. big time. Awesome. Drink some more. Yeah, drink some more. Hey, you know what? You're like the devil's advocate over here. What's going on? You sure you just don't want to call me the devil? I could be the devil. I don't have horns. No, you don't. No horns over there. Dave is just... Yes, three times. You love that center target, man. But you're... You got three times bonus, so that's awesome. I need that. Ooh, special. Special horseshoe. You got a free game for that? I do. Why did you get that? I hit the special on this horseshoe. I want to turn that also into... Oh, look at that. I want to turn that into points. I'm dead, folks. Dave is rocking it. Rock and roll man There also um isn there the Space Invaders sound in this game Yeah there a little bit of that too Yeah. This is like Recycle Game. Yeah, they kind of use a lot of different stuff. Kind of like Viking did the same thing. Yeah, that sound. That's the hot dog and sound. I've got a saucer here. Yes! Saucer time. There we go. I'm getting annihilated. $400,000 on ball one. I think you're going to prove that this does need seven digits. Yeah, exactly. Oh, so that launched back up into the... Yeah, up top. Oh, I didn't... That doesn't do that every time. How come it did it then? No, it does, every time. Okay, I'm not paying attention then. Oh, good. You messed up. I did mess up. Awesome. Awesome, but... Wow. About $700,000 on ball one. No more than that. Oh, so you have the two thresholds. Look at you. Oh, I'm dead. I had an extra ball. Why am I even bothering to play? I get 800,000 on ball one. I'm going to put this thing on ball two. You and PJ have warmed up on this. I know, I know. Dr. Dave is now punched in. I purposely didn't play. I played skateball the other day. I really knocked it out of the park, and then I didn't play anymore. I'm like, like that. So I have a whopping 3,600 points. Maybe there's a lot of digits out in the display that we just talked about. No, it's really bad. But you were down here all alone practicing for one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got Rock's score special. I got the tongue lit. How do I light Nick's package? That's what I want to know. You can't light that up? You mean Nick with the stick? Yeah, Nick with the stick. Nick's stick. Is that Nick Rib? What is that? It's like Nick Rib. It's something like that. Oh, I never got to tell... You know, you started with the Lyman story earlier. I never got to tell my story. I'll tell your story. What is your story? I only have... I only have one instance. All right, it's going to flip. And... Here we go. Over... Oh! Dave rolls it. Over a million. Three credits for that. Dave rolls it on two balls. I'm... I'm... I just lapped George. He's lapped. My only interaction with Lyman... I'm not much of a modern guy, was there's a hot dog place in New Jersey called Rutz Hut. I know some of our audience is familiar with it. They had, for the longest time, and I believe it's still there and I lost the ball again. There's always ball three. They had an attack from Mars in the hot dog place, and I would play it every time I would get back to New Jersey. So that is my only memory of Lyman, God rest his soul. Yes. Good guy. Oh, don't do that. Do that. I know you don't watch, and I know we've talked about it before, and everybody else talked about it when they had the mega sale, was the captain's auction was on over the weekend again. Yeah, so what's... Are they still going crazy? I only recorded. No, actually, it wasn't. Well, I'm just going to tell you the numbers. I'm not going to ask you to guess. I only took four of them down. I'll give you the final score we got here on ball three. Just plunge my ball. I'm not even playing. Wow. Stop. I got 1,600,000, I think. Just plunge it. 1,577. I'm not even going to play my ball. You know what? I think when I just plunge the ball, is going to do better than you could do with the new Fulpers. It is. It's kicking ass right now. Bye-bye. Stop it. Stop. It's more like one of those self-driving cars they do, George. I need a self-driving pinball. I think you do. Okay. Enough of that. Oh, the Captain's Auction. So, I took a couple of prices down. All right. Didn't have a lot of pinball. NASCAR, $4,100. That's cheap. but don't ask me the condition because i couldn't tell okay stern the pinball or pinball 1200 bucks you got to remember there's a 20 premium on everything one thing about nascar let's go back there for a second remember i was trying to sell dale earnhardt jr for the longest time and i finally got the one guy perfectly wanted it is right made for him i just got a call the other day he wants to sell it no a different guy hey do you have a dale earnhardt or a nascar for So it's like, I never hear that. So now I get... Did he hear our podcast? I'm not sure. I've got to call him back. Okay. Eight Ball for $1,700. Eight Ball Fonzie. Eight Ball Fonzie. Okay. And this was the one that I thought was really high. A Space Invaders for $2,600? That's a little high for that game. I mean, it's in whatever shape. Like player's condition not restored, right? I don't know. Again, you don't know. I did see a Medusa for sale on Pinside for $3,400 nice shape or what? it looked ok but stuff is going for but see a lot of people get confused but fully restored versus the players are two different animals it's hard to tell when I see people getting big money for players and I look at my restored stuff well my price has got to go up because you know what I mean? I'm giving nice stuff out there I'm not going to give it away for players junk you know i do a lot of hard work i spend a lot of time on this stuff in parts i'm looking at my notes i don't have anything else i'm uh as they say drained straight down the middle story of my life especially with pinball anything else you want to contribute on this other than you kicked my tail again um beautiful game whoever gets this i hope they listen to the episode. Nice looking game. Not my thing, but nice looking game. I will say the guy, his name is Scott, who got that wonderful firepower I just put out. I got a lot of accolades in that. A lot of people on the YouTube channel are big fans of that. Go listen to that double episode. We never did that before. That double episode was really fun. It was a fun one to do. Let me tell you a little bit about the William stuff. William stuff, ballet stuff is so straightforward. straightforward Bally stuff. It's just, you know, something doesn't work, okay, do a couple things, bang, it's working, it's all set. Williams, no. It's always a gremlin. No matter what you do, it's always like a switch matrix, lamp matrix issue. Bally didn't have all these matrix things. They didn't really do all that stuff, all that magic stuff that Williams was doing. And Williams was trying to do things a little too fast ahead of technology would allow. So they weren't quite ready for prime time, but they were trying to do things anyway. So I did the Firepower and the Flasher on the same time and working on them both. They both had weird issues. I both had them all done. I was playtesting the crap out of them. But when they both got delivered, it's like delivering an EM. When you deliver an EM, things bump around and things can change and something happens. So the Firepower got delivered. It started having some sound issues. But I think that was actually the brand new soundboard I got was having an issue. So I replaced it with a Weebly board instead of a pinball PCB. be, and it seemed to solve that. But he also had a lamp issue where a lamp would always be on sometimes, and sometimes it wouldn't. It's just, you know, it... You talked about that. Yeah, so that was that one. And then he had another problem. So I went back to his place and said, no charge at all, because I just delivered it, and I went there and fixed the gremlins in under a half hour, and I got that nailed down, and he's happy with that. Fast forward to Flash. I just delivered Flash the other day. And it was working fine. I playtested it that night he said hey I got an issue it's like oh here we go here we go another Williams thing now what oh when I hit the start button it doesn't start a game but the right saucer just kicks like kicks like kicks the ball out it's like okay the switch matrix issue that sounds fantastic and sometimes when I hit the hit the player one hit the button to start put players in I get points on player one and not player two and three it's like oh boy so I went over there the next day, because I want to solve these issues right away. And with a whole bunch of bores, I was going to give it a boredectomy if needed be. I want to be fully armed and dangerous going over there. And it was just a couple little things. I think I changed out a diode on the start button. Oh, another thing I did too. Here's another thing with Williams Games. They have all these square connectors in there that Bally does not have. Bally has just like regular 156 or .100 pins on their boards. Williams has the 156, but they have these little square connectors, about six or seven of them, and they can get oxidized over the years. So what I found, what I do now, is I take this certain deoxid spray. So I went over to this guy's house, and I took all these things apart. I sprayed deoxid spray over all those things, reseed a couple times, get rid of any oxidations on them, even if they look nice, put them back together, and now it was running great. So just a little tarnish? A little tarnish Because that's what changed. Because when I was working here, I play tested the crap out. It was great. When I took it apart to bring it over there and put it back together again, we had some gremlins. So what changed? So you think the oxidation in that short a period of time? Really? Yep, the oxidation, it was right. I forgot to ask you when we were playing Rolling Stone. I don't know why I went and did this. But I went out and watched a video. Excuse me. A video by Todd Ducky. yeah talk talk what is what is with him like going on the on the thing with his with his face kind of all weird and he's like oh i don't get it is that i don't know but i wanted to ask i don't get he was pointing to a problem on rolling stones with the solenoid driver board and the upper right um connector yeah there's an orange wire you probably know what it is yeah he said they use those zero insertion connectors on this game, and a lot of them have been changed with regular Molex. Is that correct? I don't know what he's talking about. What is he talking about? Something that it would fry... All these belly games have the same freaking thing, the same right connector. You'll have to go watch. I didn't understand. I kept saying... He said it's only to Rolling Stones. Again. I don't know about that one at all. Go watch. I don't know. I didn't understand it, and that's why I... It makes no sense, because all these games, all these ballet games have the same connectors. After we're done, we'll watch. Okay. Oh, here's something I want to have you watch, too. Have you seen this guy, his name is Jeff, and he made this back saver thing for ramp games. Because ramp games, when you set them up, the head doesn't come off. They're heavy bastards, and to try to... You know, you put the front legs on, no problem. Bring the front legs down, angle it down. Now you lift the whole package of the back up, and that is like 300 pounds, and you can't really do it yourself. You can probably have someone help you do it. You're deadlifting 300 pounds. You're deadlifting, and these games aren't getting lighter. I'm not getting younger, and I don't need back problems. So this guy made this awesome device, which is so – I'm going to make one. It's like – have you seen this before? I don't know what you're talking about. Okay, so I should actually show you a video so you can see what it is. Where did you see this? I should actually show you. Should I show you live or no? It's a one-minute thing. No, we've got to have some stuff to talk about the next time. Okay, so picture two half circles of wood, and it almost looks like a little shoe shine box. That's called a shoe shine box? Yes. Picture a shoe shine box, but instead of having squares, you have half round circles on it. Right. So what this thing does is when you have the game, the ramp game up on its end, when you're about to put the front legs on, You stick the shoe shine box underneath the back end. Put the front legs on. Bring the front legs down so now you're hitting the ground with them. And now this is in the back of the cabinet. Now the back cabinet is lifted up a little bit. It's elevated. It's elevated up about four or five inches. Then you take an RV, very carefully, RV scissor jack, a 30-inch height RV scissor jack that contracts down to four inches. You stick that underneath there. So you're talking about a jack to jack up your car to change a tire. Yeah, but an RV one. The regular jack is only 24 inches. It's a 30-inch. It goes in 30 inches high. It goes up higher. It's a longer jack. I have a floor jack. A floor jack. Well, not a floor jack. No, this is one where you go roundy, roundy, round. A scissor jack. It's a scissor. Okay. I have one of those, too. Okay. So you put that in there, and it goes in that little shoebox thing. It fits right there. Then you take a drill. You put the drill with a three-quarter-inch drive on it, hit it on the end of that. It goes zoop, and all of a sudden, zoom. The back of the game comes up nice. You're going to have to show me. It's awesome. You put the legs on and you're done. No back issue, no nothing. Okay. So I'm building one of those. Okay. Because I might have to, I think I'm putting you to work today, but it depends on your back, is I have a Twilight Zone that I want to set up over here, and that's a heavy freaking game. You know, we've never done that game. Oh, well, we should do that game. That's a great game. I have two of them. We're teasing. We're going to tease. We're big teasers. But we're finally fulfilling. The Rolling Stones. How long have we talked about this? We might talk about it for a while. Well, it's true, but we come through. A year. We've got to wait a little bit, but my customers wait a little bit, too. It's Palma San wine. We sell the wine before it's time. Okay, Commander. Okay, Commander. That's right. Anything else? I'm mastering Commander. Don't say one more thing. Okay. Okay, I'll try not to. No more. We're done. I said that a lot. And I'm not going to turn it off. I said a lot. As much as I love that, that's one of my favorite clips now. What? The George C. Scott. Oh, that was, by the way, that George C. Scott clip you used for me, I find these awesome movie clips, and I gave this one to George and said, this is going to go somewhere. Right, but I held on to it for a long time. And I'm glad when you put it in that one spot, that was perfect. Right. Nice execution. You kind of get me going in that direction quite a bit. So with that said, we'll conclude another episode of the Classic Pinball Podcast. My name is George. I'm here with my co-patriot, my friend, Dr. Dave. Say goodbye, Dave. Goodbye, Dave. Goodbye, George. And everybody, keep a smiling face and keep flipping. Always feature. And we're back with Rolling Stones part two. Real quick. Yes. I'm going to show Dave a picture from a website. I failed to mention one of the activities that took place during the concert. A group loving. Oh, come on. What is going on? They called that tired grandpa. It looks like he's sitting on a big dick. What's going on? He is. Well, what the... You know what? There's a lot of... There's a lot of... He was... There's a lot of hijinks going on here. There's a lot of penile... There's a lot of penal codes going on. I just wanted to show you that. It looks like a penal colony. So, so... You know what? Now, this explains it. This is why there are no Bally Grapefruit Girls on this game. Now I get it. Mick is riding a giant fowl. Of course he is. Of course he is. Called Tired Grandpa. Yeah. Of course he is. Anyway. Oh, boy, oh, boy. Wow. Well, he's flying on a trapeze. Oh, that looks great. That's very manly. And he's got the dragon. Uh-huh. Yeah. What else? Wow. It was a good show. It was a great show. You know what? The lotus flower is also a very sexual symbol, too, of rebirth. So there's all kinds of lotus stuff. Hey, no going beyond the garden. That's what they call the whole lotus thing. It's a whole thing. We're done. We're done. Okay. We're done. We're done. Look it up, folks. We're done. There's tons of stuff. There's a lot of things going on with that. Colonel, you better take a look at this radar. What is it, son? I don't know, sir. But it looks like a giant dick. Yeah. Take a look at it, Starboard. Oh, my God. It looks like a huge... Packer! Oh, wow. Wait. That's not a woodpecker. It looks like someone... Pirates! We have reports of an unidentified flying object. It is a long, smooth shaft, complete with two balls. What is that? That looks just like an enormous... Wang, pay attention. I was distracted by that enormous flying... Willie. Yeah. What's that? Well, it looks like a giant... Johnson. Yes, sir. Get on the horn to British intelligence and let them know about this. Shattered Shattered Love and hope and sexy dreams Are still surviving on the streets Look at me I'm in tatters I'm shattered Shattered Friends are so alarming And my lover's never charming There's just a cocktail party on the street Big apple, maple dress, and laughing bags I can't give it away on 7th Avenue. This town's wearing tatters. Shatter, shatter, baby, shatter. What is love and sex? Ain't you hungry for success, success, success, success? Love and fire. Shatter. That's a shatter. What's next for Jeff Spicola? Headed over to the Australian and the Hawaiian internationals. And me and Mick are going to wing on over to London and jam with the Stones.
