## Transcript

At the Dutch Pinball Museum, we collect stories before they are lost. Because pinball history doesn't live only in machines. It lives in people. In stories that are often told once and then disappear. 5 minutes, one egg timer. When it rings, the story ends. Who are you? I am Jack Danger, international pinball sensation. Um, and I've been in this hobby for quite some time. Wow. Yeah. What are you doing in pinball? Uh what I'm doing in pinball now is I've moved into a marketing space where I'm trying to help um put a face to Stern Pinball, try to humanize the company a little bit to help people understand there's, you know, real people behind the games that are being made. They're all handmade. Um and I will be also designing a game live in front of the world to show them everyone involved in each one of those steps and again just how human it is to create a pinball machine. uh but also previously pinball designer and previously uh streamer. Yeah. For many years. Actually, you don't need an introduction. [laughter]
So, what's your untold story? My untold [clears throat] story? Gosh. Well, um when I first got into pinball, it was through some of my friends bringing pinball machines to an animation studio I had at the time. And we would jam on these games. I wasn't really into them. Then, like, it slowly grew on me. And then uh they started finding games on location. Again, I didn't know anything about pinball, so finding them at a bar was kind of cool. And then we learned something about uh Topps tournaments. I don't know if you're familiar with TOPS [clears throat] tournaments. Um so I I was exposed to these TOPS tournaments where like you put double the money in the game, you play a game, if you get a high score, you can put your name on the board, and then that was it. And what was cool to discover was if you showed back up at that bar in like a month, you could ask a bartender, "Hey, is there an envelope behind the bar for a Jack Danger?"
And they'll go, "Yeah." And they'll slap an envelope down. And like if you won part of the Topps tournament that was running on the game, you actually won cash. Um, and I there were two summers where everything that I did as far as eating and drinking came from the money that I was winning off of these TOPS tournaments around the city. Uh, and it I I'm sure it's illegal or not illegal. I don't know. [laughter] I I don't understand the legalities of Tops tournaments. Um, but it's software that exists in the game and it was a blast and I miss those days of just debaucherous uh pinball adventures. So yeah. Wow. [laughter]
So this is So we always try to get it out of the uh the system that is not illegal. It's not illegal. It's not gambling,
but we can um Yeah. And honestly, like it also introduced me to playing pinball with strangers, playing pinball, like making new friends in the scene. Uh it was just a really cool time. And uh yeah, I I miss those days. You got a lot of friends. [laughter] How many you have? 100,000. Uh too too many. Too many. you follow me on the internet, it'd be great. And again, like the show's been awesome for like rekindling a lot of friendships and people that I haven't seen in a very long time. Um, but yeah, that's my that's my story. Hopefully it doesn't get me in too much trouble. No, [laughter] no, no, no, no, no. I feel some minutes left. Yeah. So, man, so, uh, Pokemon released yesterday. Yeah. Pokemon. Yeah. And you got your finger in it. Yep. So, uh, it it was a situation where, um, I helped start the design and then early on I accepted a new position at Stern that I'm in now. So, George Gomez swooped in to like, uh, take the reigns, make it his own and, um, we will both be signing the LE. Um, but it was a nice joint effort and I'm I'm excited with what he's done with it and I can't wait for it to get out there. for me. So, the first rumor that I heard for Pokémon was not really a 50 plus theme, but when I get to think of it, it's it's I think it's it's a fantastic step into pinball because when it's was 1999, you were a 12-y old boy and you were start collecting pinball card Pokémon cards. Now, you are like 40
and you got you got a little got a little bit of money in your pocket
maybe through gambling. I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. So, the silic is is round now and they they are going to
Oh, I think I think it's going to do just fine. And in fact, it's also an awesome game. Look at
that. It's also an awesome game for on location because again, like Pokémon, it spans generations. It's going to attract kids over to play it and we need to get more
younger players interested because that is the future of pinball. I will keep you informed because I think a lot of kids will attract to our museum. Heck yeah. That's awesome. Thanks, man. Thanks, friends. Love you, bud.
