bass guitar and and you're gonna sit on a waiting list for eight months what makes you what's different enough about a bass guitar just assume i have never played bass guitar so i know nothing about it uh anything you order from the fender custom shop you can they can basically do anything you want as long as you have enough money because you're literally hand picking every part of it okay got it so they take it and literally build it for you okay did you get some cool art or did you just pick out like all of the individual components because you wanted a very specific sound i got a fender jazz bass with a p-neck a sunburst finish on the body uh it's got 12 strings instead of four and all of the uh actual metal hardware on it is painted gold to match the sunburst sorry it's a 12 string bass guitar yeah um and is it like a 12-string guitar and that you don't really individually play the other six strings they just they're right next to the other one so when you strum it you end up strumming 12 strings is it like that but there's four strings but there's three of them packed very close together uh it's like the average four strings on a bass guitar it's just that there's more of they're they're in a marriage and they're both trying to find someone else and they fall back in love or rekindle their relationship when they find each other in the classifieds it's like a it's a story is that a technically a ballad any song that tells a story classifies as a ballad okay there now how do you differentiate between let's go with britney spears um you better work [ __ ] with uh with something maybe like the pina coladas which is maybe more narrative as opposed to an idea or a thought or something along those lines that's trying to be explained like in in work [ __ ] that's not a ballad something narrative driven like like uh uh r kelly is trapped in the closet that's a bad one okay so just in general anything that tells a story is is a ballad and then after that it's it's like versions of a ballad or do they just all funnel into the concept of a ballad it it has to be more narrative driven like that like weird al's albuquerque or uh exactly mr hardlock alice's restaurant is a perfect example of a song that is a ballad sorry alice's restaurant help me out there oh if you've never heard that song it's i may have i just don't know like what's the what's the band i believe it's been covered a bunch of times but it's it's a very gripping story uh it's by arlo guthrie and it's called the full title is alice's restaurant massacre arlo guthrie says mr harlock okay got it so that's another another ballad uh ttfaf oh through the fire and flames got it by uh dragonforce um huh i need to look at some lyrics here the only thing i remember about that song is getting very angry at it on guitar hero 3. so um what about uh eminem's uh the story about uh conscious uh conscience guilty conscience is that a ballad or is that a wrap it's a ballad like stan that's a bad one oh my god dude no no i love eminem so i i get it a good chunk of his music is often telling a story um but i just didn't know because there's so much narrative i guess in standard rap i didn't realize that it still fell under the concept of a ballad so is that one of those like purple is a color but not all colors are purple is that one of those situations where ballad is a very broad uh all types of fingers but not all fingers itself there you go is is it one is it that kind of a situation yes got it okay cool well thank you everyone for joining us as i uh as i learned a little bit about uh about songs i feel that's specifically what i was trying to figure out in my conversation earlier today was there's a point at which a song goes from describing an idea like a lot of um rage against the machine i feel like is an idea or a concept that i i love and i enjoy but that's very different from when pearl jam redid that song uh um oh my god it's heartbreaking uh oh my gosh i can't think of it now uh i'll think of it at some point like 20 minutes from now and then and then bring it back yes yes oh my god the last kiss yeah every time i listen to that song that like oh my mr hard luck oh my god you nailed it but last kiss i i had i had learned the lyrics just through repetition without actually understanding the song and then at some point i kind of listened um and uh and i'm like this is heartbreaking this is a really heartbreaking star a song about a very specific yeah mr hardlock i just need you here over my shoulder completing sentences for me because i sputter fragments out as opposed to finishing complete thoughts and squirrel it's my fault that there's musically but it's because of pearl jam's name that i could never take them seriously oh why is that does pearl jam mean something that beyond i assumed it was like stone temple pilot george that's a euphemism for a guy's baby batter really oh jam not jam like music jam it's it's it's pearl jam interesting is the audience can come up with movies as quickly as possible and those movies cannot be used in addition we are not allo it cannot be used for that letter mind you it's very uh short-lived in terms of what the movies that come up with for that particular letter canon can't be used for so just for that letter whatever gets typed in by the audience can't be used i love by the way i'm just giving all this time for them to come up with our movies uh dice that's not intentional at all um uh hackers hey george would you be mad if i implemented this oh my god i not at all i i love this i have been playing this game for years and we have got it made it increasingly more and more difficult where you could get in out if you come up with a really crappy movie right like can you imagine that we could that i mean the chat could be typing away and we could actually be removing these it would oh take the participants typing in their answers but yeah dude if you wanted to
