TL;DR

Orby reconsiders King Kong hype and discusses its design issues amid Patreon launch.

Summary

Orby (Orbital Albert) from Pinball Nerds Podcast reflects on his initial enthusiasm for King Kong pinball, acknowledging he may have overhyped the game relative to community reception (currently ranked 17th on Pinside vs Godzilla at #1). He discusses the gong shot as a potential design flaw, Stern's code-fixing capabilities, and his new Patreon launch while meandering through personal anecdotes about grocery costs, New York pinball venues, and his upcoming retail job search.

All get around, he's on the rebound, hear the sound of our buddy, oh lordy, it's Orby, pinball now to rejoice, he's tugging pinball, craft beer and coffee, miffed with syrup and honey, hopes to laugh with his family in a random tangent, stories of his boys, he's on the poor man's pod network, We're going to get more listeners for the Pinball Nerds Podcast. Coming to you from beautiful River Hibbert, Nova Scotia. Welcome back, Pinball Nerds, to episode 637 of your fifth favorite pinball podcast. Oh my God, here we are. It is the eve of Star Wars release. and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even an orby who farts like a mouse nah i fart like an elephant yo no i'm just kidding all right listen i want to thank everybody oh my god you guys blew me away i joked yesterday about getting uh 10 or 15 patrons in my first 24 hours It was more of a joke to myself because I've always thought of this show as more of a joke, kind of like a joke, really. But today, in the last 24 hours, I had another three people join. I'm at a total of six. You're knocking my socks off. You're blowing me timbers. I'm so excited. I'm so stoked. Honestly, it's like it's sitting at, I think the total it said was $59 a month. I'm sure it's going to minus some fees and all that jazz. And then, of course, I had to put my tax information on there to be able to get any money out. So, yeah, this has got to go. You know, I'm going to get taxed here. I'm going to get to we got lots of taxes in Canada, so I'm not going to receive anywhere near that. But here is the cool part that I told a friend earlier today on Facebook. It might not seem like a lot, 50, 60 dollars a month. But to my wife and I, that's like that's not like, you know, for the people who aren't even for middle class people, I bet you this happens. okay even upper middle class people this might happen nowadays on weeks where you get paid well or say we do really well at the market or you just you have a little bit of extra cash you spend a bit more when you go grocery shopping and now with our oldest son gone who could easily go through a brick of cheese in probably 72 hours himself uh and bricks of cheeses are like even the no-name walmart cheese is like nine bucks now come on um but with with uh hurry up hayden moved all moved out for now anyways maybe we'll see him again who knows but with him moved out uh our grocery bill sometimes on the weeks well we're not rich and when we didn't make a lot of money uh at the markets or collectible shows like recently unfortunately um you know summer's done and so is uh so is the market crowd there but we will actually spend between 50 to 60 dollars for our primary grouping of groceries it doesn't mean i might be a naughty boy and buy myself a happy meal halfway through the week if I had a real tough day, you know what I mean, or something like that. Or really right now there's a really cool Hello Kitty slash Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Who knew those two would ever collab? But that's out right now. And I like to nab myself at least one of each toy, so I probably will be going there sometime in the next week. But the point I was explaining to my friend is for many pinball podcasts to even run a Patreon and only bring in $50 or $60 Canadian a month, which is like $35 or $40 American, wouldn't even be worth their time, their energy, or their money. But for me, it is huge. It is massive. So I do want to thank them very quickly, one by one. And then we're going to get into today's show. I'm going to be talking about just throughout the years, I've got to be part of so many pinball releases. And even though, yes, I might be 10th or 15th or 20th on the listens list all the way down there, that's totally fine. I might be number one on the most, no, no, number one, number two, possibly number three, depending on who you ask, on the most divisive, okay, content creators out there. I've tried to stay out of the hot water, all right? I have tried real hard. But anyone who's done 600 or 700 episodes, frankly, of anything, hell, there was even those one or two bad episodes of Seinfeld. You guys know what I'm talking about. The backwards episode. Give me a break. No, I'm just kidding. I actually quite like the backwards episode, even though it doesn't seem to fit the plot of the show, I guess, if that's what I'm saying. And I'm certainly not comparing myself to Seinfeld because, well, I'm not near – I like to think of myself as a Kramer type, but really I'm more like George and I get made fun of all the time. So there you go. Now you know. But I like to think I am pretty lucky because from time to time, like on the one special day I married my wife, I became Jerry. and in my world jerry marries elaine because my wife when she dances that's about how good she dances she's even got the little kicks down pat no i'm just kidding she's over there making dinner and i'm just out here being a jerk but uh we i do have the gate up so we shouldn't be hassled too much by uh elwynn over there or franchi thank god you don't want to be hassled by those guys when you're trying to do a podcast it's like come on you're distracting me over here come on franchi you know what i mean especially this guy you're trying to do a show and he just starts trying to scratches butt right in front of you or something. Come on, my dude. Anyways, did you all get to listen to Christopher Franchi and Spooky chat over there with Spooky Luke? It was great. It was, I haven't listened to the whole thing. I am going to go finish listening to it. I had two shows out of town this last weekend and I've been very busy between the Patreon. Thank you so much. I made sure to reach out to each and every person individually and thank them. But the other thing I really wanted to talk about today is was i wrong about kong and i'm actually gonna like oh there i just punched myself right in the gut i really did it guys that's not good enough you want to slap in the face here we go ow okay that was not a sound effect don't do that and i hit the wrong side of my face i could cave in and break from uh well many many years ago an accident to niagara falls that we shall not speak of don't worry i didn't go over the falls in a barrel but i was wrong about Kong I said when Kong first came out maybe I get a little over hyper a little over excited when a new pinball machine comes out hell I even got excited about galactic tank force we all know what's wrong with that but I honestly thought with the shot layout and how good the Elowen team is doing code and the animation seeming to be really fun and enjoyable and then they got that comedian the Robert Q or whatever, something Q, I forget the guy from Impractical Jokers. They got him to do a lot of the callouts and stuff. So I thought it was going to be really funny and catchy and humorous. And honestly, maybe because I've only played in loud arcades late at night after a couple of wobbly pops, I don't really actually have any freaking clue how good the callouts are. But I thought maybe I'm wrong because I definitely don't, at this point, at this point with where the code is, I don't think Kong is better than Godzilla. And Pinside agrees. Godzilla is number one. Do you know that Kong is down at 17? Let me double check I had on this page. It might have been 11. I need glasses, guys. I always got to get my glasses before I start recording. I got to get my glasses. Let's hit the little back button here on Pinside. I don't go on Pinside often, but when I do, it's usually to look at the top 100. that's one of the it is 17th king kong myth of terror island as per usual the lowest ratings come from the pros because they're out on location most commonly and if you own an le and you sunk that much money into it you're probably going to hype up how much you love it at least a little bit we know biases exist right but 17th for this being the newest elwynn for as long as i have been covering pinball for at least a year all of us pinball nerds were in our elwynn honeymoon phase where we love the newest Elwynn. Hell, I even loved the artwork on Jurassic Park when it came out. No, I'm just kidding. I still like the artwork. Johnny Crap I not crapping on you my bro my fellow Canadian I am not crapping on you But I will tell you this I think maybe maybe maybe that I overhype and get more excited for any new release more so than the average content creator, or maybe I just record so early into the news cycle that I haven't had time for my FOMO to diminish, or maybe I just love Keith Elwin and Stern so much that when King Kong came out, I thought naturally with the team progressing this much and naturally with, you know, Elowen knowing now, every game he seems to build on to like rule sets that he's learned and like how to make multipliers better or just not use them at all. And he's made each game better and better and better. And I thought for sure this one time that would continue. And it appears as if I was completely wrong. And I will just say this. I will say this. I'm not saying like take it behind the barn and shoot it, okay? I'm not going to go all Kevin O'Leary on Shark's Tank for you, that crazy Canuck there. What I'm going to say is I think as the code gets better, I do think we'll see it get higher. Are we ever going to see a full year of King Kong at number one on Pinside? Maybe not. Maybe not. I hope it's not in its sweetheart honeymoon code phase yet. I don't think it could possibly be. but maybe maybe maybe some of those shots and some of them are pretty tough i'm gonna play you know what i know what's wrong i know i just just it hit me like a gong in the head it's that gong shot like seriously that shot is like it's so hard put it this way i somehow managed to win my provincial championships uh not nearly as many people out here in new brunswick like when I used to play in Ontario which you know or BC or even Quebec has a lot more people than New Brunswick but a lot of great players here and I had to beat a lot of them to get to that finals and I'm proud of myself for winning it but even as like the New Brunswick champion it was averaging taking me and I was adding it up the last time I played Kong I really concentrated on I cannot backhand that gong shot or Kong Kong Gong whatever the Kong Gong whatever I don't like that shot. Maybe there's like some way, because I would say I was hitting it really clean, and even half those times, it didn't even get all the way through it and start a mode. So maybe it is the gong. Maybe the gong is the issue. Maybe the gong was, maybe the gong, can you imagine if just one little tiny, one of your like 40 ball path causes your machine to like, and why did you make that? Maybe they, see, this is fixable in code. Stern, are you listening? Key, the hell, when are you listening? Probably not. but I would like I would figure out any other shot to start your modes or I would make it so like can they make it does the machine know when the ball is just grazed on that target because if it does it would be hella cool to know that even if you just grazed it like maybe I don't know could they get a kit where they added on like that light I know I had the um the light field that believe it or not there was an entire this sounds like future technology if you haven't played it but there's a multiball that you can get hella quick like 20 seconds 30 seconds you can get on the stern indiana jones that everyone craps on and no one likes and that stern indiana jones uh has like this area that if you keep hitting the ball into it i think like 10 times or 12 times maybe it's nine times you start like a nine ball multiball and they all fall at you at once and there's like this light field and you have to hit the ball up to the light field if they could do that like 10 or 15 years ago on a stern machine why could they not have a tiny little out on our lightfield to know because i feel like if you hit that gong and you hit it square on and you're the new brunswick pinball champ no okay it doesn't matter if you're a pinball champ or not it doesn't matter if you've never even played in a single there's tons of you awesome pinball nerds out there have never played in a single solitary pinball tournament and i'm not going to tournament shame you for it i'll just say this if you put your hard-earned money into a pinball machine at an arcade and you're stoked to play it and try it and all you want to do is start that mode and you hit it cleanly three or four times and you get it goes out like an outlane you go well what the hell i tried to start the mode like five times i did what the pinball machine asked me to do they said shoot here to start the mode so and look if this has already been fixed in a newer code than i played on the most updated one i apologize i don't think that's true now i'm going to take just 30 seconds here i'm not going to take a long time and i'm just going to thank the people who have joined already so as you knew from the last show uh in my soft launch so to speak the only people who knew about it ended up joining so thank you so much to my nerd herd and you're going to be known in order of the numbers now my buddy melvis asked tonight do we keep our number forever or do we get new numbers and i explained him no you keep your number forever so long as you're still on patreon you keep your number if not i don't know maybe there'll be a ladder system we'll bump it up let's cross that bridge and we have to cross it and the water isn't that high yet so the grass is greener on the other side and we'll get to it someday so jamie the JBS show on YouTube go like, subscribe, watch all his videos, comment when you're watching donate, does he have a Patreon if he has a Patreon, join it high five him when you're at his house for Halloween dress up like a pinball machine and he'll give you an extra Diet Coke when you get there I don't know, but I love Jamie and I did have a lot of fun watching him, he was just at geez, Eureka Heights? No wait, maybe that's where all the content creators are now that are going to Stern Media Day. And shout out to all of them. But Jamie was just doing a live stream. Go follow the JBS show on YouTube. You guys are such hardcore pinball nerds. You probably already do. But he was attempting to do the near impossible live stream while playing in a tournament. Now you've got, you know, double the nerves. You've got double the anxiety. You've got double the pressure to play well and do well. And it's very tough. And, you know, something I've even said before on here, I attempted to play in a tournament while doing a live stream a long time ago back in London, Ontario there, and I got dead last. And I still think to this day it's the only tournament I got dead last. I've got second last, third last a hell of a ton of times, okay? But I've only got dead last once, and it was when I had the pressure of trying to live stream, and I actually started the live stream with the play field inverted. So, like, it was right side up. The flippers were on the bottom and everything, but it was, like, inverted. So like the ramp on the left-hand side of the – it was a Spooky pin too. What was it? It was that Rock Machine. Not Ozzy Osbourne. Shout out RIP to Ozzy, by the way, if I haven't said that. I think I have. But anyways, what was that? What's the thing with the chicken thing at the top loop? It'll come to me. But it was another musician band by Spooky. It wasn't Spooky's most beloved game. I certainly didn't love it that much. Probably better than Alice Cooper. No, maybe Alice Cooper is better. I don't know. Anyways, shout out to Jamie. Nerd Herd, number one. My number one nerd. Number two nerd. Not nude. No, he's not. Well, maybe he is. Maybe he's listening in the shower. I don't know what he's doing. But Drew Sedolia, shout out, Drew. Did just incredible. I know the year that I went to Nationals. I think he got second place. Again, he was playing against Dalton, I think, in the top two. He also did really well most recently. I was trying to think the last classics tournament he was in, like either leading up to Papa or leading up to Pinberg, maybe. I think it was Pinberg. He did really well leading up to it. But shout out to him. And for Nerd Herd number two, that's right. He's been asking me when I would start the Patreon. So there you go. And then Retro Ralph himself, probably Jamie let him know it was there. There you go. Retro Ralph, I hope wherever you're driving, you let me know he's driving right now. He messaged me back and said, Albert, I'm driving. I'll text you later, brother. Well, wherever you're driving, whether it be New York City or on your way to Stern or just having a great time, maybe you're going from Jack Bar over there to see Kate Martin at the Milk Bar. Did you work at Milk Bar or something like that? Milk? Something like that. I should know. I'm sorry, Kate. Anyways, those are the only two. Wait, there's also the laundromat. There's a laundromat that has pinball. How do I know about three places that play pinball in New York City? I don't know. I won't say I love New York City, but I've only been there once. It was a great time. I'd love to go back. I had a blast. Now that I'm a foodie, like, yes, I would want to visit three or four craft breweries. Yes, I would. Some people say don't go visit pinball places on holidays. I definitely would go do that But I would need to go to like the top ten like burger places under like I don want to go to these gourmet places that are like a burger I just want a really hella good smash burger Like really anything, the bottom bar would be like Five Guys. Anything better than Five Guys, especially if you're like a local talented, like you're doing your own chuck, you're adding your own fat percentage, maybe a toss and a little bit of bacon or pork in there to just amp it up. You know, the interesting fun like Burger Priest in Toronto, that kind of level type stuff. I'm going to go seek that out. My wife would go to all the best bakeries. I've gone off topic. What would a Pimmel Nerds podcast be without the Ramblin' Man ramblin'? Now, let's get into my three new people. One of them, which I begged and pleaded to join. That's right. I mean, hell, you guys heard my last show. I begged and pleaded for everybody. I'm sorry I talked about Patreon so much. I will do it far less this time. But my Nerd Herd member number four, my number four nerd is Kyler. Cheers to Kyler. And I'm just not going to say people's last names just because, I don't know, I don't, that's what I hear other pinball podcasts do. They kind of just say that, but Darren, thank you so much, Darren. I really appreciate that. And Darren put a fun comment there and he said, here you go. Now you can buy Danielle all the drop targets. So I'll be doing that. I'll be getting her so many drop targets. We have no pins in Orbeez Arcade right now. So I don't know what I would do with said drop targets, but I'll tell you what, that's at least five games just from Darren himself for me to go play pinball at the local arcade. Now, one thing Darren did tell me, even though I set my price or I guess how much I'm going to get from Patreon at $4.20, it doesn't matter. I don't know if this has to do with the new electronic tax or not, but for some reason or another, he was charged $6.50. So I humbly apologize. I promise you I'm only getting $4.20. I'm only getting $1 per week. Like, that's it. So I think it has to do with something to do. I don't know if it's tariffs. I don't know if it's – I don't think it's tariffs. I don't know if it has to do with taxes in different states. Maybe your state's less. Put it through and let me know if it's $6.50 or not, okay? And I humbly apologize if it is. You can always get the $8.80 American, which that one is probably more anyways as well after whatever. But from what I understand, places like Patreon and OnlyFans, which I don't actually – I always joke I have an OnlyFans. I don't really have a Lumberjack OnlyFans, believe it or not. That's totally a joke. but I'll consider it if I don't get it if I don't get one more patreon by tomorrow when Star Wars releases that's it I'm going over to OnlyFans and I'm bringing me and my Charizards I'll be the world's first uh semi-nude uh Pikachu no I'm just kidding and hey you can peek at me while I Pikachu right uh anyways so Darren thank you for letting me know that just to let all the listeners know that I set my price at $4.20 because of some electronic tax servicing thing, you may be charged $6. So instead of it being $1 per week for you, it's going to be $1.50 per week for you. Now, I understand that that's more money than the $4.20 I promised, and I humbly apologize for that. I can show on my back end how much I get. If I go down even further, if I go down to get it to $4.20, I'd have to put it at $2 a month. And because I have so few listeners on this show, I'm liable to only get like 10 people at like $2 a month, which means I would make like $20 a month, which is fine. But is it going to be worth all the time and energy I'm going to put into doing a monthly show with my wife over there, the time and energy of me posting at least once a month a deleted or behind-the-scenes show? I even have other – I have another content creator that gave me a top five that I've never, ever got to use, and this would be the perfect place to input it. Believe it or not, it's a top five for a pinball machine I haven't even done a top five for, even though it's released because it may or may not have come out while I was on one of my many hiatuses while I went to go work full time. And when I work full time, I can't bring you this much content. So if you want to keep your ear holes full and busy and always have something to listen to, in fact, right after Darren told me that, I called my best friend, Melvis Megaphone, also known as Matt to some of you in Ontario. Or Ontario, I'm just kidding. Okay, I'm just kidding, Ontario friends. but my buddy Matt I said listen I'll freaking buy you a beer the next time we go to Milo's craft beer emporium he knows even a cheap double IPA there's like 8.95 for 10 ounces like it's very expensive I said just I need to know I set it for four dollars and 20 cents it should be five dollars and 90 cents Canadian for you or four dollars 20 cents for an American all Americans have joined and no Canadians so Melvis can you please join Patreon and tell me how much they charge you So he said, no, you're right. It's only 580 whatever. But he said after HST and GST, it came to $6.44 or something. So I kind of like this. It's at parity. Now, I'm still getting the same, whether you're American or Canadian, the $4.20. The difference is, is unfortunately, the United States of America is charging on slightly more. so even though with so you're being charged either 650 american or 650 canadian and i'm sorry that canadians get it for slightly less but there's some weird type of tax there i don't understand okay and if i could make it cheaper i if i made it any cheaper if i made it two dollars a month i wouldn't be recording a bi-weekly extra show for you guys and i wouldn't be going half paywalled kind of like i am where i'm doing at least two extra shows a month for behind the paywall So anyways, I did think because I finally released that rant that more people would want to sign up. And the other thing Melvis told me, so if you are Canadian and you want to get it or Australian or somewhere outside the United States, I believe the lowest level will cost you the equivalent after taxes and everything. I don't know the taxes in your country or your particular state, et cetera. Maybe you live in Alaska or Hawaii and you've got to pay like a across the ocean for Orbi fee. I don't know. I mean, to live anywhere, hell is like, come on, it's beautiful. I got to play pinball with and hang out with the Hawaii state rep and he was really cool and he looked like he was from Hawaii like he was totally like a surfer dude and he was all like really brown and I was like dude he's like if you're ever in Hawaii okay he didn't sound like that he just sounded normal but I probably more so I sound like that but he was like yeah if you're ever in Hawaii you can stay at my place we can I'll take you and play pinball and I'll teach you to surf surf and he was hopping hobbling around and like this massive party at uh i almost called it sauda city which is one of my favorite breweries from ontario that little cry i don't get to see and try their their berliner weisses as often but um uh where was i going with that not sauda city where's the place lumberjack johnny's we were at lumberjack johnny's and he's like hobbling around with all his drunk state and provincial reps there at the end of the night while we're watching it up on the big screen and the poor guys playing all this pinball like on crutches so like someone has to hold someone in his group has to like hold his crutches or he has to find a pinball machine to lean them on and then he has to like hop over on one foot and he has to he was nudging he was nudging and like slap saving on anyways i've gone off topic so melvis thank you for letting me know feel free to unsub next month melvis you know this is i only asked you to do it i just want to make sure Canadians weren't being charged like $9 to join or something crazy because honestly, I'm going to get very little, especially after tax on the back end of that. But that is to say thank you for everyone who's joined. I super appreciate it. And also, your Nerd Herd number, there's only, I have six people now. So if you want to be like number seven, number eight, number nine, if you want to get in there in the top 10 nerds on the Nerd Herd, get in there and go listen to the rant right now. And the other thing, my buddy Melvis just messaged me right before I started. I said, I'll give you a little cheat code. You can jump to the 23 mark on my Stern rant and you can just hear the Stern rant from the start and you don't have to hear the intro. And he said, Albert, I was going to skip the intro, but I was too busy and I loved the intro. Obviously he said it wasn't like as funny as the actual thing, but the intro itself is an extra episode. So you can join my Patreon. You're basically getting two extra free episodes right now. And if I managed to even get to 10, I would say by the end of the first week, I'm just going to record another just for fun and stick it over there like a full length episode because, you know, the top five rad and one bad for Star Wars. I want that always to be right here on the poor man's pinball network. But I got to I got to put some stuff behind lock and key because if I don then it not going to make it worthwhile for all these rad people who are now helping me pay my bills which is just so incredible And I think that there is other people out there who are in pinball podcasting who might be like doctors or lawyers or like be super wealthy And if they were only getting a small amount like this, it might not be life changing for them. For me, it literally is life changing. Every time someone signs up, that means that I can go play. Think about that. I honestly sometimes only bring with myself a $5 bill when I go to play pinball in Moncton because I'm trying not to spend too much money. And our house is breaking down between electrical and plumbing left, right, and center faster than we can possibly fix it, faster than we can get money back onto our e-lock. So it is a bit of a struggle. I'm going to pull my big boy pants up and probably have to go get, you know, at the very least a job between now and Christmas when it's really easy to get jobs. I have no problem working retail. I honestly think I'm too old to work at like McDonald's or Tim Hortons or somewhere crazy fast-paced like that. But maybe I could hang at like, I don't know, DQ, Pass the Summer Rush, you know, like, hey, man, here's – hey, dude, here's your Blizzard. Oh, let me try a little lick of it. Oh, I didn't add enough James Rees's Peanut Butter Cups, bro. Let me do that. Did you know that still to this day they take your Blizzard and they put it upside down? I don't know why they do that. We get it already. You've done it for years. I know it's not going to fall on the ground. hell even a thick enough mcdonald's shake wouldn't fall on the ground right away am i right all right so i wanted to talk a little bit about kong and i have done that i definitely definitely had to record today to thank absolutely everybody who joined the patreon but if i'm wrong about kong and you own kong i've never said this before but go ahead and email me at pinball nerds at gmail.com because i'm curious like is what am i missing i don't even know if it would be considered to be better than AIQ, which most people consider to be Elwynn's worst. And I loved AIQ. And I love Kong. So I don't know. But I also love Godzilla. And I do honestly think at this point with where the code is, without a doubt, without a doubt, Jaws at this point is better. I don't think it has cooler shots and more unique ball paths. But wow, it is still a stellar, incredible, beautiful game. it you know maybe i need to hear the call outs better maybe i need to watch the animations more frankly whenever the ball stalls and i'm at a pinball arcade playing at this point i have a sip of my craft beer let's be honest i'm not like just staring at the animations going oh wow like when i'm in between balls i'm like chatting with someone else or just playing a different game having fun so maybe i do need to just go play it at a friend's house if you live on the east coast to Canada and you have a King Kong in a somewhat quiet house where we can play it for like an hour, let me know. I pinball nerd and willing to travel. That's what I will say. If you're further than like three hours away, hashtag you're dead to me. No, I'm just kidding. No, but if you're like further than three hours away, I'm probably not going to drive there and like go to play it. But like if you're within two, two and a half hours, you live anywhere from Fredericton to Charlottetown to Moncton to New Brunswick to Halifax to even Turo, Turo, which I never say it right, How would you pronounce this town, guys? T-R-U-R-O. Truro is how I used to say it, but now I'm trying to like Truro. I don't know. I'm definitely doing it wrong. I'm 100% doing it wrong. It is the eve. It is the eve of Star Wars. And I just want to tell everybody, can we all try to be kind tomorrow? Can we try to not overjudge stuff too harshly? I have heard some rumblings that maybe the artwork isn't the best artwork we've seen, but I've also heard rumblings. And I've also said on my last show, if I had to put my tin hat on again, that I honestly truly believe maybe all the Stern employees have kind of been nudged, forgive me for the pun, towards kind of saying like, hey, keep your expectations tempered. We're not going to tell people this is next coming. We're not going to tell people don't spend a penny to wait until you see the best mechs ever and we give you a scram. Like maybe, maybe this time for once Stern has got smart and they're tempering expectations because they want people to build FOMO and they want people to get excited. And maybe it's – even if they wanted to get people really hyped about it, how hard is it to get people hyped when they haven't got any – if they're making the content creators sign NDAs for everything, that means the content creators can't talk about the backlash. They can't talk about the cab art. They can't talk about the mechs. They can't talk about the toys. They can't talk about the code. They haven't even told us who's doing the call outs, right? We have no clue. So we don't even know what, like we know nothing about it. So how can they sell it? I made this joke yesterday. Yesterday probably wasn't one of my best episodes ever. I'm not going to lie. Probably talked a little bit too much about the Patreon. I'm going to try to cut that down, okay? But hey, if you want to ever hear me talk about Patreon, not at all, you have to go over to the Patreon. because why would I even, I wouldn't be advertising it on there, right? Am I right? Am I right? Am I right? All right, I've gone on too long, guys. I'm excited for tomorrow. Keep your expectations tempered, but also get excited. This is our Christmas. It only comes, what, twice a year with Stern. That's like a cornerstone game. Maybe once a year with Spooky. I get really excited for it. I get hyped up. As a content creator, like, I'm just shaking my hands right now. I'm shaking my legs. My whole body's jumping up and down. I'm getting crazy. I'm excited. Do you remember Tom Antonio Cruz? I almost said Tom Hanks. But do you remember Tom Antonio Cruz when he was on Oprah and he was hooking up with the hot girl from Dawson's Creek? I'd be jumping on a couch too, especially back then. She was very good looking. Still good looking. I'm just suggesting this man, that's how I feel for New Pinball Day. I get excited. I'm jumping on the couch. I'm stoked. I can't wait to be part of it. you know, if we only get a small view tomorrow, I'll be back tomorrow with an episode. If my voice continues to leave me, it might be challenging, but I'll be back with a short episode just talking about the top five rad and one bad. The five fast thoughts are like, you know, like basically insights into if we only see a 30 second video, it's hard for me to do a whole podcast, but I'll try. All right, pinball nerds, thank you so much for everything. I will leave the Patreon in the chat there in case anyone missed it yesterday. I did have my buddy Melvis tell me that he tried to do it from one of his phones and it didn't work, but then he like logged on to a different one. So if you're trying to join it, join it from mobile, I will tell you this. I've heard from other people. If you're joining from iOS, like Apple, just go to like a Chromebook or go to like join from something else. Like don't, but I mean, try someone, let me know if they charge you an extra fee. Let me know. Hopefully, you know, so someone with an iPhone, yes, I need one person to do it, but I, from what I understand, they might even charge you an extra fee and also I had not one but now two people trying on mobile and they couldn't do it and sending me messages saying no I hit the join button it didn't work so please go to your laptop or go to a chromebook or go to a tablet or if you I don't know if you have chrome and internet explorer try one or the other or something but don't just quit right away because I suspect more than just three people wanted to hear that stern rant and I'll be honest with you guys in 19 days, I might expire that stern rant. So if you ever wanted, you can, you can listen to it. I put the money back guarantee that if you don't, if you don't laugh your ass off from it, I will do the money back guarantee. You will get the equivalent of whatever tier you're at, Pimwell Nerds podcast trading cards. So if you're at tier one, where you don't get all the Pimwell Nerds podcast trading cards and coffee and all the other collectibles sent to you, you'll get one pack. If you're at tier two okay if you're up there at tier two and how could i forget about jason forbes this is so crazy it must be because it got i'm looking at the wrong page i'm looking at the bottom level jason forbes my dude who has bought more coffee than absolutely anyone else and helped me out so many times and been such a rad dude here it is jason forbes thank you so much he has joined on level two so that means uh here we go okay i'm gonna do an updated list there we go so jason forbes that puts you at square at nerd number five and melvis at nerd herd number six so thank you so much to everybody though have yourselves a rad day i can't wait for star wars tomorrow and uh until next time pimple nerds remember to eat sleep and breathe new pinball day
