Now who's responsible, I say, who's responsible for this unwarranted attack on my person? I say, I say, I say, pay attention now, boy. This is, of course, Foghorn Leghorn presents the Pinball Junk Drawer. You all asked for it, I say, you all asked for it now, you're gonna get it. Boy, oh boy, are you gonna get it. Go, I say, go away, boy, you bother me. And just like that, we are back. The only podcast seriously considering micing up one of our butts is, of course, the pinball junk drawer. My name's Falkord Leghorn. With me, as always, is Crab Bruce Sally. We are here for your ears and your butts. And we just made it back from Expo. I will say, you know, we're going to talk a lot about some of the experiences, but I think part of me is like, you should just get through it quickly because it's been Expo mania running wild on all the pinball podcasts. It's like the two shows before it, all you're doing is talking about Expo, and then there's the wrap-up show afterwards. People that don't go are like, oh, my God, I'm so sick of hearing about Expo. I live in Finland. I'm not going to Expo. Stop talking about Expo. But sadly, yes, this will be kind of a wrap-up. I did return with, of course, Con Crud, so I'm hacking up. Metallic taste from my lungs, and that's pretty cool. uh crafter sally is not that's what 30 years of retail pharmacy will do for you it makes you impervious to pain which explains your ease living with me it's just so easy oh no i can't we did have a wonderful time um it's always a wonderful time yeah it like looking back you know i was excited to play the new games uh spending time with the tribe is always kind of front and center. I think that's always my favorite part. Yeah. Dan the Man, Rachel, just everybody. I actually had a couple minutes where I was just sitting and BSing with Drew from the original Poor Man's Podcast. Just talking. And it was a nice thing because no one else was around. There was no nonsense. They were just bullshitting about stuff. And it was kind of, I don't know, just one of those things where you kind of walk away going, that was cool. I was glad I had that eight minutes, ten minutes, whatever it was. Just catching up and talking. you know which you know i don't i'm not a i don't do that much you know yeah i did learn that i can't hang anymore no it's i'm that that has passed long in fact i didn't even try the only thing i the only alcohol i consumed was a shot of malort which everyone else went oh my god i was like whatever i swear i'm gonna go out on history as the person i could care less malort doesn't bother me there are very few that malort doesn't bother and you are one of them well i i've often said my dad liked moxie cola oh gosh so maybe it's genetic maybe maybe we're impervious to medicine-y flavored nonsense and then just like yeah whatever but so you know we got to play winchester which was the star of the show kinda yeah um came out of nowhere fun it was a couple days before expo it was released yeah yeah and it had the you know has the ghost pepper effect across the back with the candles and stuff you had a really good game on it i did i did not uh which is i i will say While I was having a good game, you got to talk to Dan. No, I'm sorry. Doesn't matter. The owner, the guy. Yes, the guy. Now, not the programmer, which I did not know. Not the programmer, the guy who designed it. Yeah. I did not know that Carl D'Python Anghelo was like, he's like famous. Yeah. Like with the streaming and doing like a lot of really crazy, like he's a really good pinball player. And he does like a lot of streaming. and I've heard over some of these that he is almost like he's the he created what we consider pinball streaming now like he was the first one to do that down over the top the camera with the kind of the the chat on the side and showing that yeah like and you know as we've done video projects and audio projects since night the late 90s on you know public access and all that kind stuff and if you're trying to figure out how to do something it is hard yeah we've done it we've we've done some wacky stuff to record audio before you could record audio and we have and it's you know and like what becomes commonplace is really interesting to see how people do it uh using their creativity you know because there's going to be a million different ways to do something 80 might not work but you know it's it's kind of cool so that was neat you know Winchester House brought... I know the big thing was like, well, they could have sold more. And part of me was like, well, would they have sold more? Right. Part of it might have been the limited run that made it like this mad rush. You know, oh my God, something is in hot garbage and there's only 500 of them. Yeah. That's cool. I think it was one of those things where they released it and then everybody went out and was like, what is the Winchester House? Yeah, nobody knew. I had no idea. And then it's a really cool story. Yeah. And people in California know it. Yeah. You know. So that was neat. I did like playing that mothership. Mothership, yeah. I'm a sucker for oversized novelty pinball. You are. And small pinball. Yeah, I played Hercules a lot down in Dunedin. I used to have it. And I would play it numerous times when we would go. I like it. It's dumb. Replay museum. Yeah, replay museum. In Dunedin, depending who you are. Yeah, shout out. So that was fun. Yeah. Now, we entered a contest for Don's Pinball Podcast. Had a homebrew topper contest. We didn't win. I was a little sad. I think we did fine with where we were. We took third place and fourth place. The Woe Nelly took third. Which, that kind of, I thought the Godzilla was a better topper, but I see the appeal for the Woe Nelly. Oh, yeah. Because that, you could tell someone who lived in Florida for 27 years made that. Yeah. That's exactly Florida. It was, other than maybe having some kind of weird little hidden crackhead something coming out of a 7-Eleven in the background. Right. That's the only difference. And the fifth place was our tribe members decided to do a real fast on the spot topper with a turkey, a plastic turkey. turkey. Wasn't the plastic turkey like one of those like it's instead of a cheese head it was a turkey head? I don't know that for a fact. So. I didn't look at it. I don't know. Was it a piece of cardboard on there written? Was it diner? Diner topper. Yeah. Diner topper. So. Took fifth out of what? Eight? Yeah. That's like one of those like Boaty McBoat face. Yeah. That's like it's so dumb people are going to vote for just for the yucks. Yeah. I will say I wouldn't take two again, but I did. You're right. I already have some thoughts about next year's entry if we do it. Excellent. Yes. So we will talk off air. I'm not going to give away. That's a good idea. But we did. Now what we won, this was crazy because Craft Brew Sally likes Willy Wonka a lot. Not the game, the movie. And the book. I'm sure the game's fine. I haven't played a lot of it, but I'm sure. So they had Willy Wonka play field sitting there. I was like, wow, that's cool. Yeah. And then there was another play field. And then, I don't know, it doesn't matter. There was like two toppers. Yeah. So first and second took the toppers. Yeah. Which we would have taken the Wonka if we would have won first. Yeah. Because we didn't have the games for the toppers. Right. So it's kind of like, I mean, they're cool. You know, an Aces high pinball topper is a big deal. You know, the Iron Maiden one. Yeah. And you could make a lot of money doing it, but I'm like, eh. So we won that, and we won an Avatar, signed Avatar banner. Now, this was the weird part, and this is very weird. It was just like Don did the announcements at 1 o Yep And then so we were standing around and we picked up the topper or we picked up the play field Yep. And then. But then one of the tribe members, Jay Hall, was like, oh, a friend of mine, or a guy I know, does the light things, which we had looked at before. We did. I think you talked to that guy, too. Yeah, a little bit. And I was like, let's do it. Yeah. Because we have a Playboy play field that you did. So I was like, oh, let's do it. Let's do it right and make it look really cool. We got this free thing, and let's make it something that we're proud of. You love it. Let's make it something awesome. So we went up there and secured a kit. It hasn't come yet, but he's going to custom make the rainbow lights and all this stuff. And we're walking out, and I was like, we're walking past our booth, our vendor booth, the Poor Man's Tribe. and right across from us was Jersey Jack and I said maybe Jersey Jack's there to sign this and you were like well there he is and he was talking to somebody Jack Guarnieri he was talking to somebody but I walked up and I was like hey would you sign this and he had sharpies in his hand which I thought were weird yes because in one of the rooms the next schedule thing was an autograph session and he was one of the guys And so I jumped line because he was standing there and he signed this thing. And as I'm walking up, I was like, I wonder if Pat Lawler's there. Because this is a Pat Lawler design. And I was like, I don't know. So we walked into this autograph session with all these tables of people. And I walked around. I didn't see him. I saw some people we knew. Gary Stearns there shooting rubber bands at Jack Danger's eye. That's good. It made me laugh. That, I think, could still be considered workman's comp. but he survived he did so then uh and then i walked up and i was like he's is pat lawler there and he said yeah he's right there and he showed us where he was and i walked up and i was like oh man would you sign us for us and he said sure and he signed the other side of it so literally within like 40 minutes of winning this play field we got the light sim system hooked up yeah and we got autographs from Jack Guarnieri and pat lawler and i walked to the room of this thing and i was my brain couldn't comprehend what just happened. You were so freaking out. I was like, that's... I mean, I really admire Pat Lawler. I mean, he's awesome. And he doesn't do a lot of stuff now because he's been retired. And it just was... What an awesome thing. It just truly was like this awesome luck. It just happened to... Yeah, it just happened to all fall into place. Total happenstance. And you're like, that's cool. And then we played a ton of other games. I know the new games are there, and that's cool, but I always love playing the older games that you don't get a lot of time on. You know, the Banzai Run is sitting there, and Champions Pub, and all these weird games that are not super rare, but you don't see them. And that's what Rob Burke brings, those kind of things, and it's really neat. Yeah. You know. And some time with the vendors, and spend some money. We blew some money here and there. Yes. Played some of the homebrews. Yes. Those were a big deal. Now, of course, Mutant Hockey League, which is a slippy, slappy, Samsonite, sing-song, Glenn the Skateboarder is involved with. So we played that. That was really cool. And we played the Steamboat Mickey. Steamboat Mickey, yes. Which is a beautiful game. Yes, I loved it. And then we played Big Trouble in Little China, which kind of won the homebrew because everyone wants that so bad. And I'm one of them. I love that movie. you know we also played um the greatest showman again greatest showman and we played uh jack danger friend of the show jack danger uh it's just gonna change every time i know but he i forget what he calls it i call it um what did i say it was it should be called like oddly oddly addictive is what it should be called but it's like spinorama it's yeah it's just this tiny little table with 11 spinners in a row. But the funny story behind that was like when we were there, we asked, we were in line and I was like, he was like, yeah, I have a game there. And I was like, oh yeah, really, which one? So he takes a piece of paper and he draws. It was one of those pinball flyer, like a pinball machine flyer. Yeah. And he draws like this, the map of where his little machine is. and then the guy next to him was like your your signature is getting weirder every time and i was like well now you have to sign that so he autographed it so we're walking around with this like folded up map treasure map with his signature on the bottom which is totally gonna get framed oh of course it is it's going right aside to that willie wonka play field he walked around this through like three times we didn't see it because it's literally the size of like it's like a dinner plate it's so awesome we played that for like 10 minutes oh it was longer than that i could play that all day so jack if you are gonna market those please let us know because we will probably i'll be in for one i'll be like why do you get a bill for 12 grand that doesn't seem like 12 grand no it was very cool and we saw keith again yeah kyle kyle sorry you're bad with names oh sure it's not your fault kyle it's so he's not kyle again it was cool because he recognizes us and we're like oh yeah and he's like oh i got to get a beer and i happen to have a bag of beer in my hand, so I was like, what do you want? We hooked them up with some good ones. You had a talk. You guys talked crafter for like, I think I was playing the oddly addictive game for like 12 minutes while you guys were talking about random beard facts, and I was like, oh, that's cool. And then, of course, we met. We saw Marshall from Little Shop of Games. We know him, so we got some time talking to him. Saw Dan again. From Project Pinball. You know, we put in a basket, and we were happy because tickets were getting put into it, you know. Yes. But the announcer didn't put us over, though. I was like, you know, thanks for the rub, buddy. Retro Ralph does not know who we are. No. And it made me sad a little bit. Not a show fan, apparently. He's too busy for us. I was like, yeah, thanks. Aw. But whatever. Yeah. Somebody won the basket, so that's all that matters. Yeah. Hopefully that's how they enjoyed it. Somebody put tickets in and Project Pinball got some money. So that's all that matters. Next time they have to move the raffle over to like a side room. Yeah. It's way too loud in there. It's crazy. Or they just need a megaphone. And Hexa had Space Hunt. Yeah. You have to be careful how you say that. And that's just what it is. It was fine. Yeah. We were blown away. There was Italy Pinball. Oh, yes. Oh, my goodness. Italy Pinball showed up with these. Now. They're just, they're not remakes. They're just. No, the highest end restoration you could imagine. Like, you know, people always say, oh, there's not really anyone doing, like, high end pins does these restorations that are really nice. But I think it was, I'm trying to think, Dennis from, Dennis Creasel was talking about, there's not anyone really doing, like, real high end. like gold plated and like this is $100,000 like that kind of absurdity these were close they were beautiful unbelievable and he had like actual gold in the Indiana Jones so I that was those were the nicest machines I've ever seen in my life and I think a lot of them were sold they had four machines there Tron, Harley Davidson, Elvira not House of Horrors, Elvira Scared Stiff and Indiana Jones. And he had put Daniel Jones' Giants picture over the top of it. So it was a Giants thing because that's what they call him now. No, they didn't. So I'm getting an odd look from across the room. Yeah. So these were insane These were the most beautiful machines I ever seen ever And they were just it was that this is a real high machine So I think he will definitely find a market with the super rich. Those could not have been cheap. They had to be $30,000 if they were anything. Maybe, I don't know, I didn't ask. I should have. I wanted to talk to the guy, but I didn't. but it was great hanging out with the tribe of course that was always fun you know uh and other rachel you are a very bad influence that's okay i know yeah and she was trying i know it's funny yeah well what else now i know i'm missing a million things and a million people so i did get uh two books now the first book i'm gonna do i'm looking through it now i'm gonna uh talk about that probably as a segment in our next show it's a coffee table book from uh argentina and it's very cool and i will i'll do a deeper dive on that one i wasn't sure about the purchase but i was like i got a pretty stout pinball collection if i don't have a book i should get it yes uh the second one was of course we now for christmas i might be getting a uh the roger sharp pinball book santa might be bringing it finally so i've been looking at this for a million years and we finally got one, and it wasn't a hard cover, but whatever. It is what it is. Right. So we went there with the intent of hopefully securing a signature from Roger Sharp. Well, we're sitting there playing The Greatest Showman. No. We were waiting in line to play it. Waiting in line to play it. And Roger Sharp was playing... The game right outside of us. Was it Saw? No. No. Hellraiser. I don't know. It doesn't matter. I was distracted. He was playing, and I was like, wow, there he is. And as soon as he stopped, when he got finished, there was a table in between. And I asked him, I went up and I said, would you mind, we've got your book, and would you mind autographing it? And this was kind of later at night on like Friday, Thursday? It might have been. I don't remember. It was a little bit later one of the days. Yeah. Because it was empty. It must have been Thursday because I was not in a good spot on Friday. It was Thursday then. Okay. And we just looked upon it and he was like, sure, of course. you know so he as he was signing it we just got to sit and talk with him a little bit and he talked about like the book and i said have you ever thought about reissuing and he he talked a lot about some of that stuff and he's been approached in the past and it was really cool and it was kind of neat just having some another another great interaction just talking to roger sharp you know and he's a very i i think he's like a super approachable like guy you know he seems fun to talk with. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, he's, and he's, he'll talk. He's not, you know what I mean? Yeah, I think we were there for what, 20, 25 minutes maybe? No, I wouldn't, well, I wouldn't say that much, but it was a while. It was just cool. Yeah. And he seemed, you know, it wasn't like. It wasn't, he didn't feel, he didn't seem like he was put out. No, exactly. And I was, I worry about that because it's such a weird interaction saying, could you sign this? You know, and it's, you don't even know, like maybe people are like sick of signing it. Right. You know, I have one book I remember I went up and I was like, oh, would you sign this for me? Sure. And like, it's the dude's signature in the top corner is like a Nintendo book. It literally looks like a misprint or like, he just, there's no personalization or anything. He just like, was like his name and I'm like, huh, well. Oh, I remember that. That was at MGC. Yeah, it was just, it was just one of those odd things. I was like, well, okay, I guess. And he was kind of like, yeah, That didn't want to do it or weird? Because I even gave him... No, it's not that. It was like, I don't think he likes crowds. You know what I mean? Like that kind of... I even gave him Sharpies. I was like, you can keep these Sharpies. I brought these just for signatures and I have another one. I was like, okay. I looked and I was like, nothing. That was not the case. And it was cool talking to him. And I'm trying to think what else. You had some beer interaction, but that will be on the beer section. Yes. Anything else before we head to everyone's favorite segment? Well, tomorrow, if you live in Wisconsin, our fellow tribe member, Rachel, is going to be on PBS. Oh, wow. Yes. She was approached to do a special about pinball. The pinball broadcasting system, I think is what it's called, right? Sure. so tomorrow at 7 30 i think no i'm sorry it's seven if you have pbs from wisconsin check out rachel that'd be 10 30 2025 for those of you listening in the future yes the future there is a i think it's about a five car in your no go ahead i think she's got about a five minute segment on Wisconsin Life where she talks about starting ladies flip and all that she does for all of us ladies. Very cool. Yeah, you just had a thing yesterday but we'll talk about it next week. Alright, cool. It was fun. Obviously next year we're probably going to plan it's hard because I know we have to get back down to Freeplay Florida again. Yes. We have to. Yeah. So I can't I don't know if we can justify to full on pinball things. But so one year we got to skip Expo and hit up that. And I know it's a hard choice, you know, and you would say, well, that's not it's not that big of a deal going to Expo because you live close to it. And that's true. It is. But you're still taking a whole week's vacation. No, you're taking at least two days and then you're staying in a nice hotel. Yeah. Which I mean, it's a nice hotel, but it's nice money, too. So, I don't know. One day, who knows? Doesn't matter. Here's everyone's favorite segment. Craft Brew Sally. Gonna have to put your journal down. Craft Brew Sally, child. You've been to all the breweries around. You've been running all over the town. Tell me what to drink until I fall on the ground Yeah That's right, people. And we're back. What do you got for us, Craft Brew? So, I don't know if everybody remembers, but last year before Expo, I asked anybody that could bring me Pliny the Elder to bring me Pliny the Elder. And Dan the Man and Rachel brought me a bottle of Pliny the Elder. Yes. But our friend Aaron at Fast Pinball had tried to get us some. Yeah, he did a lot of effort. Yeah. He was really trying. Stopping at like five, I don't even remember how many places he stopped. So this year, he got it before he went on a grand adventure across the United States to come to Expo. Nice. So he brought Pliny the Elder, and he also brought Hop Growers, and those are both from Russian River. I haven't tried that one yet. But he also brought me some beers that Bob at Local Boys in Gig Harbor gave him to give. Wow, that's awesome. And those are Church of Bob and Sad Strawberry. And this one is funny because it says, A Blueberry Fruited Blonde Ale. And it does not contain strawberry. Which, that was good for you. Yes. And I believe that when we were talking to Aaron, he said that the label for the Sad Strawberry was drawn by the daughter of Bob at Local Boys That cool Yeah it so neat So how many did he end up giving you? Three Pliny the Elder and three Hop Growers. Alright. And then one of each of these two. And then you brought beers for him. Yep. And you brought beers for Skateboarder Glen. Yes. And then you had a couple extra just, like what we said, you gave one to Kyle. Yeah. Or more than one? I don't remember. I can't remember either. And then I drank most of it on that one. So have you had all of those or not yet? I have not. Okay. I kind of stopped drinking after Expo for a little while. Is this going to be like an everyday thing or an every year thing? Like are you guys going to like do a beer trade-off every year, you think? I don't know. That would be fun. It would be cool, actually. You know, kind of give a shout out. Yeah. He was nice, and he was nice to talk to this time, too. Just I could tell he was excited to see you, and, you know, the beer swap was cool. Yeah. Did he have the ones you gave him? I don't think so, because I took everything. Everything that I picked up was local. So there was Fifth Ward and Lion's Tale. Yeah. I think I took three Lion's Tale and then one from Fifth Ward. Very cool. All right. Nice. Yeah. So, always a good time. Like I said, I didn't drink anything the whole time. I had intentions of drinking on Saturday. I just didn't pan out. You had peaked out on Friday and you were done. Yeah. And I was like, eh, hell with it. I'll just play ping ball. I was doing okay. And then when we were at dinner with the tribe, somebody had the great idea to do shots of Malort. That would be Dan the Man. Oh, thanks, Dan the Man. I was going to say, he actually ponied up and bought all of dinner, which very big thank you but we all paid a little bit we did pay oh i didn't mind it no you'd never do mind malort but that's all right yeah i've had some really bad booze in my life so yeah what was that beer you used to drink when you were a kid black label black label yes bud label is what we called it so we felt better about the not about the how poor we were So I'm looking, actually, we're going to a show at a little dive bar on Saturday, and I was looking at their menu, and I was very excited to see that they have hams on tap. I don't know why I am excited about it. I don't either. I think it just has a special place in my heart since I got the royal treatment at Woodman's that one time. Yeah, that's true. All right. Nothing else, Pinball? I don't think so. I don't think so either. I think we forgot a bunch of stuff. We're probably going to pick up the spare next week. Yeah. Because I had a list somewhere that's gone. Yeah. But that's okay. There's a lot going on. Beetlejuice just got announced. And there's a lot going on. There's a lot of pinball happening. I know Stern just put out the teaser for the... A remake? Yeah, that... Not Dawn of the Dead. Damn it. What's that? The Walking Dead? Yeah, the Walking Dead remake. There's a lot going on. We have a lot of really awesome pinball to look forward to. I don't think we'll be buying any of it, but we sure will be playing some of it. Oh, Lumberjack Johnnies! We forgot the new segment. So, hold on. Time out, folks. We have to drop in. We have a new segment that we're going to do each week courtesy of Lumberjack Johnnies. Do you have that stuff ready? I do. Oh, okay. So we knew we forgot something. Right. We did actually catch up with Lumberjack Dave and Nikki at Expo. Yes. And Dave had said, I wanted to, he was like, how about if we send you the best and worst sellers each week? And you can just put that on your show. So as a segment, we can do top earners from Lumberjack Johnny's. And I said, that sounds awesome. So this will be at a different spot probably in the beginning of the show next time. Yes. But what do you have for us this week? Now, we're going to get this a little bit fancier, but first week. So we're going to do two weeks at a time, I think, because we do our show every other week. So we'll do two weeks. So these will be the top earners, and then how is it laid out in the bottom five? Top three, bottom three. Okay, top three earners. So what do you have for the sharpest chainsaw in Lumberjack Johnny, the sharpest axes in Lumberjack Johnny's arsenal? So for week of October 14th, we had Star Wars Fall of the Empire. Of course. Batman 66. Really? And James Bond 60th. Batman 66? I would say yes. I like all three of those. Oh, of course. I mean, Batman 66 is an old game. That's cool. Okay. And then what are the bottom three earners? Bottom three. And I believe that the bottom was Venom. Okay. And then Star Wars. Star Wars. So I think it's the... Oh, the original. Or not the original. That last one from 2017. Yes. Okay. And then Foo Fighters. Okay. So Venom was bottom. Then... Next to bottom. Yeah. Okay. Now, he does have a pretty good churn going, too. I know Lumberjacks, either one of them, if you go to the Appleton one is the one we frequent mostly. But there's always machines going in and out. There's always a... I think they swap them up, too. Yeah. Because Harry Potter used to be in Appleton, and I think it's in Green Bay now. Okay. Okay, gotcha. Yeah. So, there you have it. This will be a bit more polished, and this will be... No, we've got another week. Oh, we have... Oh. Yeah. A twofer, everyone. A twofer, yes. Wow. I just said that. You did. I did. My listening comprehension skills are very low. Uh-huh. And then so for week of October 21st, top is Star Wars Fall of the Empire. Okay, two weeks in a row. Yep. Number two was Godzilla. Okay. And number three was Batman 66. See, Batman 66 both weeks. Yes. That's wild. Mm-hmm. Now, Godzilla, I can always see Godzilla going in and out of the top. Yep. You know. Mm-hmm. So what were the bottom three for this week? Aerosmith. Okay. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Jurassic Park oh wow different ones that's wild that's very interesting you would think someone would remain on the bottom but maybe he switched them out I'm trying to think if any of these are I don't remember if Aerosmith I know Jurassic Park is still there because I played that yesterday this might tie into what some of the Insider Connect badges that they do. Because if they do a badge for Batman 66, people like us are going to go play Batman. But Batman 66, I feel, is a really good game. Oh, it's a fun game. Yeah. That's one I could... I never blow it up, but I always feel like I could, but I never do. It's always like, ah, damn it. But I think I always play it when we go. Yeah. Oh, yeah. It's fun. I remember when we saw that really nice one. Yeah. I forget. Like, you know, it wasn't – there was one, like, that was a super collector. But then there was just, like, the CE or something. I can't remember so much. That was really cool. Had the autograph on it and stuff. All right. Awesome. So maybe we'll get an official name for it or something like that. We got to put some thought in. We'll smooth this out a little bit. Probably before the beer segment, too. Oh, well. Enjoy, everyone. And, you know, go out and enjoy some awesome pinball. This has been the Pinball Junk Show. Big Show 84. and we'll see you next time. That's it, man. Game over, man. Game over.
