Alright, now you can see me. So, welcome! This is the Flippin' Out YouTube channel. I get to do another tutorial for you guys on an amazing game, amazing game. So, yeah, my brother and I, we stream every Wednesday night here on the Flippin' Out YouTube channel. Come check us out live sometime. And last night we played this. This is Stern Pinball's Lord of the Rings. Lord of the Rings from this, the sticker on this game is from 2005. This is a home use only game. This guy's owned it for like 20 something years. So, um, Zach is doing more and more trade-ins. So he got this in on trade. Um, so yeah, definitely check out. He's got new stock, old stock. And because of all these amazing new games coming out, he's actually getting even more trades coming in. So you may have an opportunity to see more older games streamed as well as tutorials made for older games like this. like Lord of the Rings. I've always wanted to have Lord of the Rings here in the house, here in the basement, so that I could really chip away at trying to learn this game. I've always found this game intimidating or daunting because I've been told it's a very long game. It's quite a journey, and every time I played it, I never knew what I was doing. So my goal with this tutorial is to just give you a nice foundation on what's in this game. And so the goal that I'm shooting for is to destroy the ring. To destroy the ring, you have to get through all three multiballs. But I don't want to get ahead of myself. Let's do our normal thing and let's start breaking down the shots. So in lane, out lane, nothing crazy there. The main thing you want to pay attention is it spells the letters KEEP, K-E-E-P, and you're going to spell KEEP, and that's how you get to the second multiball. We can actually talk about the inserts right now. You can see there are a ton of lights down here that all deal with the rings. If you know anything about Lord of the Rings, there's the one ring, the ring of power that rules them all, but then I think there's ten rings of men, seven rings of dwarves, and then three rings of elves, and they all work together, but the one ring controls them all. So there are things to do with the different shots, collecting man shots, dwarf shots, or elf shots. You can actually see the inserts on all the main shots there. All you really have to remember is to qualify a mode, you need three elf shots, so it's three white shots. The dwarves is once you get all the dwarf shots or the dwarf rings That's how you light mystery which you'll collect over here And then the rings of men if you collect all of those that's what actually gets golem multi-ball qualified Which you'll start here at the scoop. So You got your inserts down there. You got the three main inserts for the multi balls, which we'll talk about And then you have these inserts right here in the middle Which is the nine? Main characters the fellowship of the ring. So each character deals with its own shot. So to work left to right here. So Pippin is that shot. Mary is that shot. Sam is this shot. Aragorn is this ramp. Frodo right up the middle. Gandalf is this shot. No, no, no. Gandalf is that shot. Yep. Legolas is this ramp. Oh, what a great ramp. Gimli is this shot, the one I just circled. And then Boromir is the pop. So you got to get enough pop hits. So you basically have to hit everything on the play field. And once you've done that, once you've hit all of those shots, that's how it qualifies the first multi-ball of the Fellowship of the Ring. But yeah, there's the Gift of the Elves over here. I'll go into that more detail. But yeah, ton of inserts here and it actually communicates pretty well what's going on in the game. When we're actually talking about shots though, I did the Sam shot over here, or Hobbitown or the Shire, you can go straight at it, but a lot of times the ball just bounces in there, and then after it bounces in there, it goes up a Vuck, a vertical up kick, and feeds the left flipper here. We have the left orbit. The left orbit is a very important shot. The ball is either going to go all the way around, and it can be very fast, or if you feed the left orbit from the right in lane, if you feed the right in lane first and then hit the left orbit, there will be a diverter that comes down and will drop the ball into this vertical up kick. This vertical up kick is how you get to this upper play field. This upper play field is called the Path of the Dead. It deals with the third movie, The Return of the King, where he has to build an army of ghosts. So that is very important. You have to fall through these pathways up here a lot. You have to do that over and over again to get to 5,000 souls or 5,000 dead, whatever. So you need to know a good way to get up there. The best ways to get up there are you either plunge the ball up in there, you somehow hit a right orbit where it doesn't quite make it all the way around to follow up there, or you got to go to the right end lane and then hit that left shot. So it's a very important shot to get dialed in. My most favorite shot in the whole game, the Legolas ramp. Oh, this ramp is so smooth. It's such a great shot. It feels so good. That's the left ramp in the game. It's fantastic. there's actually another way to get to this vertical up kick and the way you get into that is there's a diverter here so there are particular modes where it'll open that shot and it corresponds with this tower there's a tower there that deals with the two towers it deals with um uh part of the part of the movie but that diverter slides down and then you can actually hit that shot directly if that diverter is where it is right now that's the gandalf shot and it's an inner orbit and it will loop around here to the right Then we got the main shot right up the middle There right now in attract mode the Balrog is is there which is a creature that you going to bash at a certain point in one of the multi and modes but that actually swing out of the way and then you can hit right up that middle orbit There's a spinner actually behind him, but you'll you'll hit up that ramp that middle orbit that ramp and back There is the ring the ring mech You can kind of see it over here on that video and the ring mech has a magnet in it and the ball will go in That magnet and be held and then it'll actually shoot out behind the back box and feed Feedback down on this kind of squiggly ramp and go over to the right so very important shot You need it for some very important moments in the game So that's what's going on right up the middle We have three in lanes up here and then a pop cluster. That's how you qualify Boromir. That's how you deal with some bonus shots. Another thing I didn't talk about was this shot, or maybe I did mention it, this left orbit can actually, during certain times, feed, there's a saucer up here. That saucer's how you start a few multivolves. You need that shot in a few modes, and it lights the Palantir? Palantir is this shot, this shot right here. It's basically a mystery award. It's a very deadly stand up target, so you'll want to light that, but if you ever see it's lit, go ahead and shoot it. It's gonna help you out in some way. Then we have a little saucer here, the Gimli shot. That's how you get your extra ball. That thing can technically fall in from the top, but it won't give you that shot. Either way, if you hit that shot, it'll go in a vertical up kick and then feed down to the right. Then you got the Aragorn ramp, which you can backhand, but it goes here, it does a quick 180, and then feeds down the sword. This is a very important shot for the middle multiball, the two towers, where when you're spelling keep, every time you spell keep, you wanna lock a ball and it'll physically hold a ball right here on the sword, and you do that three times, and that's how you start that multiball. And then you have the right orbit. The right orbit, or the merry shot, which will go all the way around, very fast shot. And then the last real target, there's a target right here called spot ring. It'll spot one of the rings down here if it's lit. Otherwise, it doesn't do anything. When it comes to the plunge, you can short plunge into one of the orc targets for some points. Or you can go all the way around and then shoot a shot for some points. But what I would suggest is always try to plunge and land it right in here. It's just a quick way to get up there into the Path of the Dead to try to get more souls, to collect more souls. because that is the multiball that, in my opinion, takes the longest and the most work to start. So let's go ahead and start the game. If you look on that screen up there around the ring, there are six lights. And if I move my flipper, you can see the light is scrolling. Those are the six modes. If you play all six modes, you'll get to a final mode called there and back again. Each mode does different things, so it is something you want to pay attention to before you start a mode. So mode start is lit. You can see I have three elf rings by default. That's give me at the very beginning, so that means your mode is lit, you're ready to play a mode, and then you can see I haven't done any of these shots. Basically I haven't done anything, but it went ahead and qualified a mode for me. So let me see if I can short plunge or plunge up into that. That was not enough. so let's try to get the ball here spell org all right so we have the ball so let's work on getting some shots so let's go ahead and get sam what i want to pay attention to is this insert right here is off so let's see when it rolls over it it's now on so you can move that by using the flippers you want to spell keep and that takes a little bit of time so let's go ahead and get the pippin shot you can see it went all the way back there in that saucer so palantir is now lit that was a mystery that's off so we want it to roll over now it's on so now i have two keep letters if i hit palantir that'll give me something oh it went ahead and gave me that aragorn shot so you can see what shots i have lit based off what is solid let's do the legolas ramp oh it feels so good there we go that's so i now have three letters so we just need one more letter so if i actually use the flippers to flip so this letter is off and I hit Legolas again boom now I've spelled keep so now that keep has been spelled once the lock is lit so that means if I hit the Aragorn ramp it will lock the ball and it will hold it and it'll spit me out another ball let me try again to plunge up top two oh perfect it fell in so watch the ball's gonna go up here and it's gonna get you know the path of the dead you want it to perfectly preferably you can try to nudge there we go so it went through two and then three and that gave me like 750 souls if i want more souls what i have to do is i have to go through the end lane so normally you want to hit this ramp and then hit the pippin shot and it'll divert it back up there to get me some more to go through that again so there we go I flipped over because I'm trying to spell keep. Let's keep working. Mary is the right ramp.
