Alright, now you can see me. So, welcome! This is the Flip N Out Pinball YouTube channel. I get to do another tutorial for you guys on an amazing game, amazing game. So, yeah, my brother and I, we stream every Wednesday night here on the Flip N Out Pinball YouTube channel. Come check us out live sometime. And last night we played this. This is Stern Pinball's Lord of the Rings. Lord of the Rings from this, the sticker on this game is from 2005. 2005. This is a home use only game. This guy's owned it for like 20 something years. So, um, Zach is doing more and more trade-ins. So he got this in on trade. Um, so yeah, definitely check out. He's got new stock, old stock. And because of all these amazing new games coming out, he's actually getting even more trades coming in. So you may have an opportunity to see more older games streamed as well as tutorials made for older games like this. like Lord of the Rings. I've always wanted to have Lord of the Rings here in the house, here in the basement, so that I could really chip away at trying to learn this game. I've always found this game intimidating or daunting because I've been told it's a very long game. It's quite a journey, and every time I played it, I never knew what I was doing. So my goal with this tutorial is to just give you a nice foundation on what's in this game. And so the goal that I'm shooting for is to destroy the ring. To destroy the ring, you have to get through all three multiballs. But I don't want to get ahead of myself. Let's do our normal thing and let's start breaking down the shots. So in lane, out lane, nothing crazy there. The main thing you want to pay attention is it spells the letters KEEP, K-E-E-P, and you're going to spell KEEP, and that's how you get to the second multiball. We can actually talk about the inserts right now. You can see there are a ton of lights down here that all deal with the rings. If you know anything about Lord of the Rings, there's the one ring, the ring of power that rules them all, but then I think there's ten rings of men, seven rings of dwarves, and then three rings of elves, and they all work together, but the one ring controls them all. So there are things to do with the different shots, collecting man shots, dwarf shots, or elf shots. You can actually see the inserts on all the main shots there. All you really have to remember is to qualify a mode, you need three elf shots, so it's three white shots. The dwarves is once you get all the dwarf shots or the dwarf rings That's how you light mystery which you'll collect over here And then the rings of men if you collect all of those that's what actually gets golem multiball qualified Which you'll start here at the scoop. So You got your inserts down there. You got the three main inserts for the multi balls, which we'll talk about And then you have these inserts right here in the middle Which is the nine? Main characters the fellowship of the ring. So each character deals with its own shot. So to work left to right here. So Pippin is that shot. Mary is that shot. Sam is this shot. Aragorn is this ramp. Frodo right up the middle. Gandalf is this shot. No, no, no. Gandalf is that shot. Yep. Legolas is this ramp. Oh, what a great ramp. Gimli is this shot, the one I just circled. And then Boromir is the pop. So you got to get enough pop hits. So you basically have to hit everything on the play field. And once you've done that, once you've hit all of those shots, that's how it qualifies the first multiball of the Fellowship of the Ring. But yeah, there's the Gift of the Elves over here. I'll go into that more detail. But yeah, ton of inserts here and it actually communicates pretty well what's going on in the game. When we're actually talking about shots though, I did the Sam shot over here, or Hobbitown or the Shire, you can go straight at it, but a lot of times the ball just bounces in there, and then after it bounces in there, it goes up a Vuck, a vertical up kick, and feeds the left flipper here. We have the left orbit. The left orbit is a very important shot. The ball is either going to go all the way around, and it can be very fast, or if you feed the left orbit from the right in lane, if you feed the right in lane first and then hit the left orbit, there will be a diverter that comes down and will drop the ball into this vertical up kick. This vertical up kick is how you get to this upper play field. This upper play field is called the Path of the Dead. It deals with the third movie, The Return of the King, where he has to build an army of ghosts. So that is very important. You have to fall through these pathways up here a lot. You have to do that over and over again to get to 5,000 souls or 5,000 dead, whatever. So you need to know a good way to get up there. The best ways to get up there are you either plunge the ball up in there, you somehow hit a right orbit where it doesn't quite make it all the way around to follow up there, or you got to go to the right end lane and then hit that left shot. So it's a very important shot to get dialed in. My most favorite shot in the whole game, the Legolas ramp. Oh, this ramp is so smooth. It's such a great shot. It feels so good. That's the left ramp in the game. It's fantastic. there's actually another way to get to this vertical up kick and the way you get into that is there's a diverter here so there are particular modes where it'll open that shot and it corresponds with this tower there's a tower there that deals with the two towers it deals with um uh part of the part of the movie but that diverter slides down and then you can actually hit that shot directly if that diverter is where it is right now that's the gandalf shot and it's an inner orbit and it will loop around here to the right Then we got the main shot right up the middle There right now in attract mode the Balrog is is there which is a creature that you going to bash at a certain point in one of the multi and modes but that actually swing out of the way and then you can hit right up that middle orbit There's a spinner actually behind him, but you'll you'll hit up that ramp that middle orbit that ramp and back There is the ring the ring mech You can kind of see it over here on that video and the ring mech has a magnet in it and the ball will go in That magnet and be held and then it'll actually shoot out behind the backbox and feed Feedback down on this kind of squiggly ramp and go over to the right so very important shot You need it for some very important moments in the game So that's what's going on right up the middle We have three inlanes up here and then a pop cluster. That's how you qualify Boromir. That's how you deal with some bonus shots. Another thing I didn't talk about was this shot, or maybe I did mention it, this left orbit can actually, during certain times, feed, there's a saucer up here. That saucer's how you start a few multivolves. You need that shot in a few modes, and it lights the Palantir? Palantir is this shot, this shot right here. It's basically a mystery award. It's a very deadly stand up target, so you'll want to light that, but if you ever see it's lit, go ahead and shoot it. It's gonna help you out in some way. Then we have a little saucer here, the Gimli shot. That's how you get your extra ball. That thing can technically fall in from the top, but it won't give you that shot. Either way, if you hit that shot, it'll go in a vertical up kick and then feed down to the right. Then you got the Aragorn ramp, which you can backhand, but it goes here, it does a quick 180, and then feeds down the sword. This is a very important shot for the middle multiball, the two towers, where when you're spelling keep, every time you spell keep, you wanna lock a ball and it'll physically hold a ball right here on the sword, and you do that three times, and that's how you start that multiball. And then you have the right orbit. The right orbit, or the merry shot, which will go all the way around, very fast shot. And then the last real target, there's a target right here called spot ring. It'll spot one of the rings down here if it's lit. Otherwise, it doesn't do anything. When it comes to the plunge, you can short plunge into one of the orc targets for some points. Or you can go all the way around and then shoot a shot for some points. But what I would suggest is always try to plunge and land it right in here. It's just a quick way to get up there into the Path of the Dead to try to get more souls, to collect more souls. because that is the multiball that, in my opinion, takes the longest and the most work to start. So let's go ahead and start the game. If you look on that screen up there around the ring, there are six lights. And if I move my flipper, you can see the light is scrolling. Those are the six modes. If you play all six modes, you'll get to a final mode called there and back again. Each mode does different things, so it is something you want to pay attention to before you start a mode. So mode start is lit. You can see I have three elf rings by default. That's give me at the very beginning, so that means your mode is lit, you're ready to play a mode, and then you can see I haven't done any of these shots. Basically I haven't done anything, but it went ahead and qualified a mode for me. So let me see if I can short plunge or plunge up into that. That was not enough. so let's try to get the ball here spell org all right so we have the ball so let's work on getting some shots so let's go ahead and get sam what i want to pay attention to is this insert right here is off so let's see when it rolls over it it's now on so you can move that by using the flippers you want to spell keep and that takes a little bit of time so let's go ahead and get the pippin shot you can see it went all the way back there in that saucer so palantir is now lit that was a mystery that's off so we want it to roll over now it's on so now i have two keep letters if i hit palantir that'll give me something oh it went ahead and gave me that aragorn shot so you can see what shots i have lit based off what is solid let's do the legolas ramp oh it feels so good there we go that's so i now have three letters so we just need one more letter so if i actually use the flippers to flip so this letter is off and I hit Legolas again boom now I've spelled keep so now that keep has been spelled once the lock is lit so that means if I hit the Aragorn ramp it will lock the ball and it will hold it and it'll spit me out another ball let me try again to plunge up top two oh perfect it fell in so watch the ball's gonna go up here and it's gonna get you know the path of the dead you want it to perfectly preferably you can try to nudge there we go so it went through two and then three and that gave me like 750 souls if i want more souls what i have to do is i have to go through the end lane so normally you want to hit this ramp and then hit the pippin shot and it'll divert it back up there to get me some more to go through that again so there we go I flipped over because I'm trying to spell keep. Let's keep working. Mary is the right ramp. Let me actually talk about the rings a little bit. So right now, Mary is lit for a man shot. So if I hit it, it'll give me one of the rings of men. But watch what happens. As soon as I hit the shot, you'll see all the other man targets will start flashing. and if I hit any of those, it'll actually give me more. It give me instead of giving me one man ring it give me I think two So I working my way around here and if I get all the rings of men it light Gollum Let's get the Gandalf shot, which is right there. So there's Gandalf. Gimli, I need to go into that saucer. And then that just leaves Frodo. And Frodo, there we go, that'll give me Gimli. and then I actually I wonder if it'll give me if it'll give me Frodo it did it gave me Frodo because it knew I hit right up the middle even though I hit the ball wrong so I could start Fellowship of the Ring I don't actually I'll start it just so there's no confusion to start it it's got to get back there in that saucer so this is me now starting Fellowship of the Ring multiball This is a very cool multiball. Okay, so to play this multiball, basically what you have to do is you have to hit the Balrog. And then after you hit him, you're trying to get the guys across the bridge. So after you hit him, you then have to hit either one of the ramps. So I'll do that ramp. You can see the guy walking across. So you've got to hit him, and then hit the ramp. And remember, I don't think I can do keep letters. No, you can't do keep letters while in a multiball. So that's three. You should see three solid characters. So remember, this is a multiball. Pallets here is lit, so that'll probably give me an anaball, which is now a fourth ball. So this mode, to beat this mode, you have to stay in control. You have to stay in a multiball. but it's literally just this over and over again you can go legolas ramp two man i love i love everything about that ramp even throwing the ball into it feels good there's gimli and this ball this won't time out this is all based on keeping the balls alive so this should be legolas and then the last one is gonna be gandalf here we go and so now i'm technically in victory laps um the other thing that happened being that i beat the multiball i'm gonna go ahead and drain down to one ball is i have one of the gifts of elves lit so light extra ball is lit if i want to get the gift of the elves i hit the far left shot get it back in that saucer and now i'm gonna get that um i will get the gift of elves so light extra ball is now lit to get the extra ball you have to hit the gimli shot here we go so that's how i got my extra ball psych now i'll get my okay so what else do we have going on that was the first multiball let's talk about two towers so two towers remember is all about spell keep so let me go ahead and hit this shot that'll fall through there so there's two let me lock my second ball and you know what before just so things aren't confused perfect my plunge went back there got me some more souls i'm gonna go ahead and start a mode because there are six modes in this game worth punching um so to start a mode my mode is lit because i have my three l's i want to make sure i'm gonna select war of the ints so i just moved my thing over and i want to go right up the middle the reason i selected war of the ints is now that is open that is wide open so instead of having to plunge or get the ball back there i'm going to be able to just throw the ball straight in let me get my keep letters too while i'm at it so this will go up there we'll make sure that um we're going to try to get more there we go more of our stuff make sure we spell keep so you can backhand this shot as I suck at throwing it let's let's get our keep letters so let's make sure it rolls over when it's not so I'm at where am I at I'm probably at 4,200 so I really only have to hit it one more time there we go this should end up getting me over that 5,000 threshold. Nope, maybe not. Let me do it one more time. There we go. This will get me over the 5,000 threshold, which means I will qualify Return of the King. There we go. So I can do that multiball. So to start that multiball, I'm just going to keep doing the mode, though, because I want to go ahead and defeat the mode. Oh, never mind. I'm straight into Return of the King. So I'm going to have a mode going and this multiball going at the same time. So let me hit flashing shots. There we go. Let me get this. So this is Return of the King multiball. This is the hard one in my opinion. But if you can start that mode, War of the Ends, you basically have a clear shot straight at what you need to hit. And I think I have now finished the mode. Let's see. yeah and i know i finished the mode because light special my victory elf is lit so there are multiball rules here to defeat this one it's basically just hitting a lot of shots um but i'm not here to show you how to get to balanor balanor is basically you have to play everything and beat everything so uh good luck with that return of the king is done my two towers is lit and that's because I've locked two balls. So if I want to start that multiball, I'm going to hit my lock shot. I want to show you, though, how to light another mode. To light another mode I need elf shots So elf is lit there So come on Joel There we go so there an elf shot and remember we can combo these shots nope ran out of time here another elf shot so it be two but i can try to combo it nope still only two and then my elf shot is going to be here um or i can spot ring oh it spotted my man ring instead so let's go ahead and let's just go ahead and start multiple there we go so now I have I've started my multiball but I can't start a mode you have to do mode first in multiple so this is my third multiball so this multiball is another cool one you're gonna hit red flashing shots the call All outs are awesome. I'm going to hit the proto shot if I can. Well, you're going to hit a bunch of shots. Palette here I think is lit, so let's go ahead and hit that. I can go ahead and get my gift of the elm. All right, I'm going to start shooting again still on, so I might as well hit some shots. There we go. Shooting again is off, so let's go ahead and drain, drain. So I've done my three multiballs. I've done my three multiballs, which is why Destroy the Ring is lit. And this mode is awesome. This is the mode I wish everybody that would play this game could experience. I'm going to go ahead and get some air real quick. Here we go. Light special's done. Golem multiball is lit, and I can show that. That's because I've done all the Rings of Men. But I'll show that after we get through Destroy the Ring. So Destroy the Ring. You've got to go right up the middle. You can see the ball is held with the magnet And now this is where it gets the music changes the light show changes you have four shots you have to hit one There we go Three and if you drain that's it the mode's over you can't you don't pick it up where you left off You have to play all three multi balls again to get back in this mode and then we gotta go to the leg of this shot there we go, and now you gotta go up the middle up the middle come on, I can't even throw it this is where, holy cow up the middle and it's gotta stick it detected it, but it didn't stick normally the ball would be stuck back there with the magnet, and then you gotta shoot it off the magnet to destroy the ring there we go and then you can get back into it so I got another gift to elves my mode I can get into another mode so what what now basically Valinor awaits so what what still needs to be done golem multiballs ready so if I get into another mode I could pull in golem multiball to try to beat another mode to get another gift to the elves to get to Valinor you have to beat all three multiballs I only beat the first one you have to beat all three multiballs you have to collect all seven gifts of elves wow and basically every time you beat something beat a mode beat a multiball that's when you get a gift you have to um destroy the ring which i just did um what else is there there's oh you have to get all the rings so i don't have i need two dwarf rings uh that'll get to ring mania and then oh and then you have to play all six modes you got to play all six modes and get to there and back again so a lot you got to do a lot you got to beat a lot and if you happen to do all of that, that'll get you to Valinor multiball. So there's a lot here to this game. The modes are actually pretty fun, but I would suggest if you're new to this game, just focus on the three multiballs. So focus on the Path of the Dead, collecting as many souls as you can, two towers, Spelling Keep, locking balls on the right ramp, and Fellowship of the Ring, hitting all the nine shots needed. Just focus on that. The modes are fun. if you just remember War of the Ents War of the Ents, that's the mode that will get you so that diverters open so you can get more souls and if you can get through the three multiballs then you can get your opportunity to destroy the ring and destroying the ring is such an amazing pinball moment that I wish everybody could experience so, alright I think that's about it I mean, if anybody wants to see a little bit of Golem, here's Golem multiball Golem multiball is lit because I got all the rings of men. Beware of golems too, dog. Yeah, look at that. The animations in this are fantastic. So, all right. Well, I think that's about it for Lord of the Rings. If I forgot anything, feel free to write a comment down below on anything else I forgot to mention. But this game's awesome. If they ever did a remake, that would be incredible. But even if they don't, try to find one of these older ones and have a blast with it because it's an awesome game. So with that and the magic of editing, let's see if Zach can, you know, let me put my ring back on. Let me see if he can make me disappear. I bet he won't do it. I bet he won't do it. So I probably just look really dumb right now. Thank you.
