TL;DR

IFPA Pin-Masters 2016 semifinals coverage: Game of Thrones and KISS gameplay analysis with tournament strategy discussion.

Summary

IE Pinball's live broadcast coverage of the 2016 IFPA Pin-Masters semifinal rounds at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. The commentary focuses on Game of Thrones (Premium Edition) and KISS pinball gameplay, analyzing tournament strategy, rule mechanics, and player performance. Notable plays include Johnny Pinball's ace on Game of Thrones and Joe Lemire's dramatic save attempts, with discussion of scoring systems, difficulty factors like wide outlanes, and the pin-golf format where players are scored by strokes rather than raw points.

Key Claims

  • The outlanes on Game of Thrones (Premium Edition) are extremely wide and represent the primary drain hazard during the tournament

high confidence · Broadcasters repeatedly note that 'the majority of the balls that were drained this weekend on Game of Thrones (Premium Edition) were in the out lanes' and describe them as 'wide open' with nothing players can do to prevent the drain

  • The Martell/wall multiball strategy is superior to the Stark out strategy on this Game of Thrones setup

high confidence · Broadcasters explain that Stark out only yields 225 million with a 3x multiplier before getting 'in jail,' whereas Martell multiball with playfield multipliers can yield 300+ million; players 'didn't feel like it was going to be a valid strategy'

  • Game of Thrones (Premium Edition) cannot stack locks; players can only lock one ball at a time regardless of hitting the lock target multiple times

high confidence · Broadcaster states: 'You cannot stack locks in this game. So he cannot qualify another lock until he collects the one up the center ramp'

  • Johnny Pinball's favorite game is The Lord of the Rings

high confidence · Broadcaster announces: 'Johnny Pinball is player two. His favorite game is The Lord of the Rings. For those who were interested in what Johnny Pinball's favorite game was'

  • Keith Elwin owns the Game of Thrones (Premium Edition) machine being played in the tournament

high confidence · Interviewer asks 'Do you own this game?' and Keith responds 'I do'

  • Extra balls are turned off in all Pin-Masters games; if collected, they only award points with no stroke adjustment

high confidence · Broadcaster explains: 'If you get an extra ball, they're just points. No addition or subtraction of strokes for extra balls. There are no extra balls in any of these games. They're all turned off'

  • KISS has a skill shot advantage for player one because the center lane doesn't automatically reset for player two

high confidence · Broadcaster explains: 'The issue that came up is that the skill shot isn't always lit for player two...If you're player one, you have a huge advantage because you can plunge the skill shot, get two or three lanes'

Notable Quotes

  • “So that's why this strategy pays off. I mean, enormous ball. Very good. Very good.”

There's a stuck ball there that occasionally happens, and he gets credit for the winners coming, so that's the two of us. That's the best way to finish it. Trying the live touch.

  • Level danger. Alright, so this is a big move. Did he take Greyjoy? Didn't he go with Martell? Whoops. Yeah, he had to have gone with Martell because he completed Winner is Coming on the left orbit. Oh, okay.
    2:11
He's going for wall multiball now. And then he's going to want to take Grayjoy and Martel, the modes themselves, into all multiball to capitalize on the mode points plus the multiball points and the add-a-ball. So it was a pretty popular strategy coming into this game with no ball save.
    2:32
Some people were trying to shoot the right back to lock targets, but more often than not, that would send the ball screaming for the left out lane. and that was probably the majority of the balls that were drained this weekend on Game of Thrones were in the out lanes. It's very easy. They're wide open. Yeah.
    2:52
Even the Lord of the Light, if you accidentally hit it in the out lane. It says live. So he starts as well multi-ball. Very skillful play there. So the jackpots here, the first three are on the center and right ramp. And then it will light the dragon for a super jackpot which is now lit. And his playfield multiplier is lit, which after he does his add a ball here.
    3:57
Oh, did he already use it? I think so. So he gets the super there. A good start on a game that's playing as difficult as this one. Yeah, pretty solid ball one. I didn't see his score and that was so fast.
    4:25
He didn't use it? Yeah, that's what I... I didn't think he did. So let's see if Carl pays for that shortly.
    4:41
Oh, he's at 216. Oh, and that probably, using that edible would have definitely helped. So Johnny Modica is now up. Johnny, a great guy.
    4:58
Just kind enough, one of my favorite things about Johnny is that him and Daniele spent some time doing a broadcast with us at Papa in Sicilian, full-blown Sicilian for 30 minutes. Oh, wow. I think I may have seen a little bit of that.
    5:15
But Daniele, he's my favorite. I don't know. Johnny's hard to beat. He's a nice guy. Yeah. Well, I didn't touch good friends with Daniele because we went on a road trip.
    5:29
With that, I'm sorry. We went on a road trip together. Yeah. My friend Rebecca had wanted to go to Michigan to the Lexpo a couple years ago, so she drove to Pittsburgh, picked me up. We went there, picked up Roy Wills and Daniella, and then drove down back to put your gear in there. Very cool.
    5:48
So, again, we're seeing the Martel wall, multi-wall strategy. Somebody mentioned in the chat room that Steve O'Pub says, you know, starking out is all you need here. The big issue with starking out is that when you start your combo, your shot combo multiplier is only three. so you'd only finish with 225. And then after that, you're kind of in jail. There's really not much, you know, you have to take three more shots to light another mode, whether it be Grey's Oil or whatever else.
    6:21
With how difficult this one is playing, that left orbit is nice and safe. It's a nice controlled feed down to the right flipper. A lot of people during the practice rounds were trying the Stark strategy, and more often than not, people were coming out with less than the maximum. 225 million that you could get and people just didn't feel like it was going to be a valid strategy on this particular example. But it was definitely talked about a lot this weekend about how people were going to attack this game. Johnny is making a lot of shots.
    6:57
Lock is lit. His mode started. Nice Johnny. Oh, look at that. So that's the other thing. You cannot stack locks in this game. So he cannot qualify another lock until he collects the one up the center ramp.
    7:23
So no matter how many times he hits that right back to spot targets, he's only going to be able to lock one ball. But with that in mind, his wall multi-ball is ready. Shoot the center ramp. Start two modes. Shoot the dragon. grab some ice cream and take a seat.
    7:43
Here it goes. And then Scout Pilgrim says, too, with Lord of Light, black water is not a bad idea, but that's assuming that you get the Lord of Light targets down. And, again, with how wide open these outlings are, they're hitting it off that, even though they're drop targets, a lot of times people hit those even accidentally. just they go down the right outline almost every time. It's just not a safe shot. With no ball saves, nothing, it's just really not worth going for.
    8:22
You know, and 90% of the time, if you've completed the Lord of Light targets, it's going for the outline anyway, and you've wasted your Lord of Light. So you spend all that time on all those shots really not making any progress with anything.
    8:34
So he's got his three. times plate the multiplier going right now. That's huge, especially on Martel. He shoots the center shot. He should be done. He's got the replay sound, so he has to be close. He's got to be really close. He's got to have it. He's got a borderline there. He just needs to finish. So his modes are over. He should have it. He just wants to see it, yeah. Yep, Look at that. 396 out of Martell. 122 for wall multiball. And that's why this strategy pays off. I mean, enormous ball. Very good.
    9:13
Johnny Monica aces. Game of Thrones. So Joe Lemire up here. This is a close group. It's three, four, five, fives. What's really interesting about this format is every stroke is really, really, really important. And you can do a little bit of math to try to figure out where you're going to wind up and what you need, but it really comes down to that last game. It sounds kind of obvious and intuitive,
    10:07
but the first game is incredibly important, and Johnny's ace, especially on Game of Thrones, is going to help him out a lot.
    10:16
The more commonly picked games so far here in finals have been Metallica, Game of Thrones, Demolition Man, and Fishtails. That was a nice chill there. You know, in the remaining games that this group can play as Fishtails and Demoman, Fishtails is relatively controllable, Demoman is definitely doable. So, Johnny's got a good chance here. I'll need to jinx him, but I think he's got a good head of a ball. Yeah, this is a really exciting match to watch. So Joe had a really good weekend as well.
    10:59
Qualified for this, played pretty well in the national championship. Had a squeaked one out in one of the final rounds against John Kramer, one of the things we talked about a lot this weekend. Went to Game 7 on Valley's Kiss. John Kramer was player two, and all he needed to do was have the ball drain anywhere but the center. It went down the center and John lost by a thousand points and Joe managed to move on. So Joe has his wall ready to go. He's got his two mows, par for the course. Haha, golf jokes during pin golf. Oh, and that's exactly, that is the worst feeling in the world. Wow, man. And it's over before you know it. Before you can even react and try to make a save. It just came so fast. And the lanes, the outlands are so wide. Oh yeah. There's nothing you can do. Oh, there's still a key going up.
    12:29
Currently, wow, and that's just so fast. Carl, the 216, pretty much there. Oh, 100 million is no joke, and he doesn't have any progress towards Blackwater, I don't think. Finishing Greyjoy on a combo would probably give him another 60-70 million points. But I don't see him going for that yet. He's going back to low. That was interesting. Cool. Wow, a lock shot that didn't... Yeah, it went there. It was going there. It looked like he was very close. Oh, nice. He's trying from the left and it's not... It's definitely doable just like that. Nice job.
    13:19
So, how many, he might only have one or two shots left yet, so he's going to want to shoot the right ramp and then combo the right orbit to maximize his points here and doesn't manage to get it. So we plunge that one off. Johnny taking a one. Johnny Monica's player two.
    13:50
His favorite game is Lord of the Rings. For those who were interested in what Johnny Monica's favorite game was.
    14:10
Looks like Johnny was getting ready to step up there. That would have been bad. He almost did. He stood up and pulled the pants up. He looked like he was getting ready to make a move towards the game.
    14:24
Maybe. I don't know. Maybe he was. Were you heading for the table? No, I was just taking a seat. I was being very smart back there. I don't want to put my dream in my mouth.
    14:37
So he reassures us that he was not going for the machine. He's just pumping, smiling. Having a good time. Oh, I would too. Anything less than a six on this game is no way. Okay, he didn't even switch it. He didn't have it back. Yeah, no switches.
    14:57
Short plunge. And get it back again. He just wants to get it on a flipper. He wants that life catch on the right flipper so he can get a good shot on the dragon.
    15:14
What's nice is if you miss it, if you don't full punch and miss it, you've got another shot at it. Just rein and let it go.
    15:31
He shoots the dragon and makes it. Nice shot. So it's a big shot there. So he started the most... He started the most, too. Okay, good. Good.
    15:44
So again the center and right ramps are lit for the wall multi ball jackpots here. His orbits are lit for Martel mode points and every main shot is lit for Greyjoy which he's finished which is 168 million which is huge in this format. Now he'll shoot the right or left orbit three times and then that lights the center or right ramp for the mode complete. And he's got his add-a-ball in the bank still so he hasn't used it yet. Now if he were to drain out right now, he's almost out of time on his Martell mode. Oh, and he's out of time. So now he's just in wall multi ball play. Shooting center ramp, center ramp, center
    16:47
ramp, center ramp, and to the dragon for the soup first. And to the left out, there it goes. No, don't try to backhand the dragon. So he qualifies as a...
    17:06
his Zords, which is another multiplier that's available to him. Nice live catch. So he's about 70 million away, and since he didn't collect on a center ramp in his Martell mode, on that particular mode, if you get all the orbits done but don't cash in, it ends anyway. And that center ramp, or right ramp collect, is worth a lot of points, especially on a combo. So I think he's going to go for Stark here, which is not a bad idea now that he's this close. This right ramp is backhandable, let's see if he goes for it. He's thinking about it. Oh, he's got it forehanded. There you go, yeah. Yeah, I'll do it. Nicely done. So in the start mode, you'll shoot the right or center ramp over and over and over again, and your value for the collect increases. It masks out at 75 million. After five or six shots, it will light the orbits for the collect. So right now, if you were to... Oh, that was so fast. I can't even see it. If he would have shot the left orbit on that, you know, as soon as it was up for the 22 million, he would have cashed out a 3x for 60 million, and that would have done it. I want to put him over.
    18:48
Oh. Someone says video mode. Have you seen any video mode? I've seen one video mode the entire tournament, and it probably happened by accident because nobody's went for that dragon shot on purpose. No, yeah. No, I mean, it kicks out of there so fast. It's similar to the way that the Star Trek in the center shot fires it back at you. It's so fast on this game.
    19:22
So Keith takes in Lannister and Martell here. Lannister is very, very valuable. It made sense to take in Lannister with multiball because all of the yellow stand-ups around the play field, once you hit them, it'll light one of the main shots adjacent to it for mode points. And in multiball, you're spending some time flailing anyway, so you might as well get something for it. So now he's going to spend some time on his... He didn't give him credit.
    19:53
That didn't give him credit. Two shots there and he didn't get it. So he hasn't used his out of ball yet. He has that in his back pocket.
    20:04
Now he uses it. So that shot is worth $229 million. So he should be there. There he's there. He's done. So, Ellen will take a two here. Here's a replay.
    20:20
Knocker. Should we call this a waiting game? Oh, he's definitely got it. He's probably in the five or six hundreds now.
    20:29
Yeah, another 230. Yeah, he's probably at a billion by now. More. Oh, look at that. 456 out of Martel. The playfield multipliers are enormous. That's the highest score I've seen on Game of Thrones all weekend. But the playfield multipliers are absolutely critical to getting it done quick.
    20:54
    868. Nicely done, Keith. So do you own this game? I do. How do you like it? I love it. It's great. There are a lot of different ways to attack it.
    21:12
I like the shots. It's definitely a flow game. The scoring system is unique in that, you know, with the combos and everything else, you know, you can't just sit and cradle up and wait for something to happen. If you want to maximize your points, you've got to keep flipping.
    21:32
Keep making your shots. So I love it as a flow game. It's a deep rule set. Yeah, I have to say I'm a fan. I'm a fan of the team. I spend a lot of time trying to practice it knowing it would be here I think the Pro is a little bit better suited for tournaments than the LE I mean the LE is a beautiful machine in and of itself but it's tough to play with the castle blocks your vision of the ball coming down the center ramp if it doesn't make it all the way it's pretty embarrassing it's weird how that works but the LE is really nice I've had a chance to play a couple, but I think this is one of those times where I prefer the Pro over the LE. What does the chatroom think?
    22:21
I don't know. I have no idea. The first time I played Game of Thrones, it was the Pro, and I really liked it.
    22:31
I think this will be the ACDC of tournaments for a while. We'll see it quite a bit, I'm sure. At least for the next couple of seasons.
    22:45
So Joe's going to try to Stark out again here. He's going to want to get to about $20, $25 million or so, and you don't want that. You don't want that. Oh, you don't want that. Just cash out. Hurry up and cash out.
    22:59
Keep the orbit, man. Nicely done. That was a nice shot. He should be... He's going to cradle up and see. No, he's not there yet. but he should have it on bonus.
    23:15
As long as he doesn't take up the extra ball, which is huge. Another $10 million. Yeah, he got it. Very nice.
    23:30
Nicely done. So from the looks of it, this group is going to stay pretty tight across two games. Johnny is going to have a four.
    23:48
Yeah, that whole one was fun. Oh, it has been enormous on this game. And it's three games in a round. So he's going to go with four strokes after two games, which will be very nice.
    24:03
Fall for Carl D'Angelo's kind of... Carl's been playing really well in this game all weekend. And Gorin, no. If you get an extra ball, they're just points.
    24:27
No addition or subtraction of strokes for extra balls. There are no extra balls in any of these games. They're all turned off. If they do anything they're worth points and if they're not worth points they do nothing. Alright, so he's going to Stark out here, which I don't disagree with at all. Oh! What just happened? Oh, my God. So I guess he hit the dragon. He hit the spot target to the right of the center ramp. I'm going to send it back down the middle.
    25:10
It came back so fast, I thought it was the guy end. So Carl's going to... Let's see, so the minimum he can get right now... Or he's sitting at about a seven.
    25:29
So let's see what he can do here. So I don't know if he's going to choose to try and start by itself again. He's going to take in something with it. Now he's got a two for one there on the center ramp. That's it.
    26:03
Tough. Tough break for Carl there. It's a 2.37. Yeah, it's his time. He's going to get in the cover. It's good for a seven.
    26:18
So that's going to take Carl to 11. Johnny's going to have four. Keith, I can't remember what Keith so I think he took a 2, 2 or a 3 so we'll have 7 or 8 and then Joe will have a 7 or 8 as well so we're going to be 4, 8, 8, 11 and what's interesting in the pin golf format you can really you can help yourself out but you can get yourself in a lot of trouble quick as well in the first round with Johnny he started out with 2, 2's and going up on ball five, he had a 10.
    26:53
So it can change that fast in any round. So nobody's out of it yet. This format makes it interesting because you can't – it's not 4-2-1-0 when you're mathematically eliminated at any given point in time. I mean, there is obviously chances where that can happen,
    27:11
but it's a lot harder to predict how things are going to go. Again, there are three games per round. It's the player with the lowest score, the lowest number of strokes, two from each group will advance.
    27:31
And if you're just joining us, we're coming to you from Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Pinball Hall of Fame.
    27:38
We're covering the IFPA 10 Masters final rounds. We're in the semifinals right now. We've just finished watching Game of Thrones. These aren't quite updated yet.
    27:50
But that's a look of what's going on so far. We know that the other group, Jim, Jason, Zach, and Bob, their second game was Demolition Man. I'm not sure how that panned out, but we'll see here shortly, I'm sure.
    28:06
And now we're awaiting the picks for the next game. So this is the first circuit event of the year. We have Papa coming up soon, Papa 19 in April. The circuit final's coming up just before that. and they have the Epstein Cup. There's a lot of big, big, big events coming up soon.
    28:27

It's a very, very good resource if you're trying to kick-start your area with pinball.
    28:57
Let's see if we're updated here. Not quite. So it looks like the group 2 is updated. Maybe not. We'll wait. We'll go back here.
    29:11
We're awaiting the picks right now. They're huddled up in the corner. For those who don't know, I'm Priyanka, sitting here from Pittsburgh. There's Ryan Dye next to me and Greg Pavarelli. Hey, what's up, everybody? He hasn't been saying much. He's just kind of been sitting here in the back. We've got Luke back here, too.
    29:46
Look at how to pronounce your last name. Is it Bowermice? Your last name, how do you pronounce it? The Hordiac. Minnesota State Champion. So that game, Keith picked up a two, so he's in second place right now. Yeah. Seven. Yeah. So seven, eight.
    30:06
Go back to Carl, getting that animal. That's tough. Seriously, thanks for watching. Thanks for, you know, tuning in.
    30:19
All right, so we're still waiting on the updates. I think Wednesday is the myth of games. Yes. Okay, hey, are the scores updating? No, I'm waiting. I need to see. I don't remember it. Okay. All right. Do you want to get the chat room on there? Because your phone is dying. Yeah.
    30:57
No problem. You're killing us, Carl. Yeah. I want to name it for... I can't believe I forgot my Adaball on Game of Thrones. Guys, what were you doing? I'm everywhere here now, though. That's going to cost me the tournament. He looked away and was like, I didn't know if he used it or not. No, I completely spaced. That's going to kill me. Bob. There you go. Bob, what's going on in your group? What's going on in your group? Not good for me. Jason's got three. I've got a copy of this. Jim's got five. Sam's got six. I have eight. All right. What's game three going to be? No, no. It's about you. It's pretty important. You can do that for Carl.
    31:38
Yeah, I got it. Hashtag praise Carl. I like it. Yeah, Carl has done a lot to help get this broadcast going and off the ground.
    31:50
Super appreciative of Carl and the time and energy that he's put into making this possible. I just sit here and talk. We just sit here and talk. Yeah, this is very nice. It's incredible what he's managed to do.
    32:05
Carl, I believe, said they were going to KISS. So we're going to check out KISS. I love KISS. I'm just going to smoke some beer. So one group is playing Kiss. I don't know who picks next. Bob will pick next. I don't know what game they're going to, but we're going to stay here at Kiss.
    32:37
Excuse me. I got to love Kiss. Yeah, I got a lot of love for this kid's game. I cannot. I don't know. It fun don get me wrong but the spinners are in a really weird spot It feels like the pop bumpers are in the way I not a big fan of the rule set but it kissed You kind of bound by pinball a lot I enjoy it I feel the opposite. I love it. But then again, I got a hole-in-one on kissed the first day, and it felt amazing. Sounds a little biased. But it's spinners and drafts. Come on. They're beautiful.
    33:17
Super important to get that skill shot. Yeah, the skill shot, oh wait, is this going to be a one-player game? Can we make that decision? I think they have to play two players at a time. Well, the issue that came up is that the skill shot isn't always lit for player two. Wherever the state of the center lane up top, wherever player one finishes, that's where it is for player two. It doesn't automatically reset for player two. So if you're player one, you have a huge advantage because you can plunge the skill shot, get two or three lanes, or two or three arrows, open the gate. And then if you hit the right number of switches, player two doesn't get anything.
    33:57
Nothing is lit. So it looks like, let's see how they're going to do this, it looks like they're going two players. So order here is really, really advantageous and important.
    34:10
And that's like, it's player three. See what they decide. That's exactly why Keith made a really, really smart decision and picked player three.
    34:20
Looks like they're booting up Game of Thrones next to it. So, Bob, you have an update on the other group. Bob said Zach has six, Jim has five. Oh, I see what they're doing. They're trying to get the credits off. Did you watch the mic over? No. Give us an update. Yeah, we saw something happening.
    34:52
Oh, that's great. What happened? Who's on bad behavior? That'd be premium to make it bright and even it down.
    35:17
It's more flexible. Yeah. There's no budging on that. You goons running the IFPA, man. Brian Dye's in charge. I've been given a red card. I'm out. Zach's out. Can I give Brian Dye a card? You sure can. I give you a card. I'm in charge. I'm pulling rank, and I decline your red card. You're wearing a red shirt. You get a card anyway. I think at New York, New York, we will be setting up the cameras.
    35:43
We'll be there. Yeah, they have a really sweet Walking Dead refinery edition at New York, New York. They've got like 10 pens. I want to be in. I love it. Yeah.
    35:58
Wait, they have a what? Where? It's a Walking Dead refinery edition, I think, at New York, New York. They've got like 10 sterns in there. They're all really nice. and a ruby red 75th edition Wizard of Oz. Bye.
    36:12
So these are the current standings. This is all totally updated. I think an eagle just died in the back of the Hall of Fame. I don't know if that picked up on the camera, but that was a weird noise.
    36:25
You know, think about it. Nobody is safe. Yeah, no. You can... Joe is up on a I think his spinner is lit so that means he got the skill shot he did he's really good at skill shots seen it well there was a lot of teamwork going on this weekend about discussing where the skill shots were those were coming at a premium you know everybody was helping each other out trying to figure out where these things were because they're so important especially in games like this things like volley really, really, really, really important. Paul and Josh are just kidding. Yeah, Josh was lying. Nobody has a red card. Nobody's leaving. Everybody's still here. Josh and Zach are being Josh and Zach. Typical goonish IFPA people. There's some just shenanigans happening. Heaven, he was kidding. Making light of it. Everyone, step away from the bridge. Nobody's getting red carded. Take a deep breath. Don't Brian Dye your way out of this. It's okay.
    37:36
Nice spinner shot there. Almost into the center lane. Why did Carl get seven points that round? Because his score was not enough to have... He finished with 233 million, and that's in between the range that would give you seven strokes. So he didn't make par, and then if you don't make par, there's a list of between what scores you'll get like a percentage, you'll get certain strokes. So he was just trying to get six, and he got seven.
    38:07
And that's where his score fell. Right. So, for instance, on, like, Metallica, the par is 20 million, and if you get anywhere between 16 and 19.999 million, you get a six. If you're between 12 and 15 million, you get a seven, eight, and 11 million, you get an eight, and so on and so forth. So, you know, if you don't get par, it's not the end of the world, but, you know, you want to... You don't want a 10. Yeah, you don't want a 10. Oh, what a save. What a dig. Oh, wow. Joe Lemire showing off his volleyball skills.
    38:40
He's smiling. I love it. Oh, he knew it, too. That was... And you know what I mean? Like, saves like that mean so much in this format.
    38:51
Great shot. What a rip. He ripped it. Oh, and he got a... Andy got a middle lane up top. So he's got Kidd spelled twice. Andy at his gate. Oh, no.
    39:05
It looks like the gate is trying to close and the ball is on top of it. So I wonder how that would be ruled because if it's in any portion of the out lane, it's considered a drain, but it's a stuck ball. But it's stuck on the gate that was open. Right, but it's technically still in the out lane portion of the play field. But it is above the flippers. It doesn't matter. There was an issue on Drop A Card where Andre Massenkoff had it stuck on the rubber right above the in lane.
    39:44
Thanks, Bowen. Thanks. Yeah, that is terrible luck. But the Yushuan drop a card, the ball was stuck on the rubber, you know, heading towards the out lane. And Josh said, you can try to get it out yourself or I can drain it for you. Because any portion of the ball that's in the out lane is considered a drained ball. It's considered out.
    40:12
So it has been ruled a drain. Joe can try to get it out, but I don't see how he's going to do that. They told him he could try to flip it out. Flip it out. Oh, and that's a drain. That's a bad break for Joe. That's a really, really tough break. He's having a really good ball. That was quite unfortunate. Probably one of the most.
    40:35
So probably one of the more unique situations we've seen this weekend. So par for Tiff is 200. 200,000. Oh, a nice little tap pass from Carl. Again, that just makes it look effortless. The multipliers are A, B, C, and D on the right? Yes. However, you don't really want to go for A, B, C, and D until you've got your super bonus, which is worth 40,000. Because otherwise you're just shooting at dangerous targets that are pointed towards the left out lane for 6,000 in bonus right now. Well, I'm sorry. Yeah, about 6,000 in bonus.
    41:35
And if you get the center skill shot that spells one card? Well, it spells one line of kiss. One line of kiss. Yeah. And the K that he needs, if he intentionally wants to shoot it instead of trying to get it back up top, is on the bottom left hand. You can see it. It's like the lone light on the left side of the playfield towards the bottom. And he got it there. No, yeah, he did get it. Yeah, he hit it by accident there. So that completed his first line of KISS. And if you complete all four lines, it enabled your super bonus, which is worth $40,000. It carries over from ball to ball, which is really, really valuable. So if you get your super bonus on ball one, you're guaranteed at worst a five.
    42:24
He's very controlled when he's playing this. Not a flying toy. The tournament director can free it up for him, or they also gave Joe the option to try it freed up himself. So those situations are given to the players if they want to try to get it out themselves. You know, that wasn't just a final decision that Josh made himself as a tournament director. You know, Joe did have options.
    43:00
It's nice that sometimes that top will, like, get the ball to go up and down. Oh yeah, the up and downs. And then we'll just give it to you. Those are nice. So he got his double bonus there, so that's going to be worth about $14,000 right now. Oh, and just, I mean, that's usually par for the course again. You make a great save and then you pay for it. So he comes up $86,000 short. For a second, I thought this was Evil Knievel, and the par score on Evil was 120,000. Yeah.
    43:40
That's still really tough to get that on Evil. So, again, tough break for Joe. He plunged the center skill shot and was awarded nothing. Got nothing for it. Oh, boy. Oh. Man, man.
    43:54
Well. I'm hoping that that situation, you know, hopefully he's forget about it and move on and try to keep playing. Don't let it take the wind out of your sails.
    44:11
See, Carl just missed it, but if he would have had it, he would have gotten credit for a kiss line or two, depending on, oh, my gosh. We're just seeing a lot of bad luck here. Carl had felt it twice. Like again. And again, yeah. See, his center skill shot's not lit, So I'd plunge for the eye. I want the line. I want to be that much closer to the bone that's been in the same breadth. I could see going for this thinner one because you might get those up and downs from the center pop. Yeah. So there's a couple decisions to make there. Nice thinner shot and no bones. Get the eye.
    44:52
He's yelling, get the eye. He wants it. He does have his double bonus so he's sitting at around 8, 11 so about 22,000. So if he can get his colossal bonus he'll be done. He must be pretty close already. Like I said, he's got about $22,000 in bonus right now.
    45:32
It's not like your traditional game where you're in lanes. Colette, you know, give you more bonus. You've got to get the kiss letters. That's it.
    45:39
So he'll wind up with a sixth. Anywhere between $160,000 and $199,000 is a sixth. Oh, no. He just comes up short. $195,000.
    45:53
What is the second reach? So that will put Joe at 14. And so Carl has this colossal bonus, so he just needs to keep the ball alive enough to get to 160,000, and he's got it.
    46:11
Oh, my. And that should do it. Nice wrist. Yeah, he's got it now. So he can drain. Well, it happened anyway.
    46:21
And it couldn't have come at a better time. So Carl will take a 5 and that will take him to 16. So it's 16 to 14 right now with two players ready to go.
    46:37
So what that means is that Johnny Moderna has now guaranteed a tiebreaker to advance to the finals. Right, he had a 4. Yep. So yeah, if he gets a 10 on this, he's safe. and he only needs 40,000 on his test to advance. Yeah.
    46:56
Oh, they gave him another ball? Oh, what? I didn't know this. So Joe is playing a one ball. No, I was asking for Joe. What was the rule in there? I lost a ball trying to print, so he got it. He counts a ball. Okay. Oh, wow.
    47:22
Okay. So he has a five now, right? He got a five. So the ruling was Josh lost the ball trying to free it up. And if a tournament director or if anybody loses the ball that is not the player, it is considered a major malfunction and you are comped a ball. If you thought he flipped the clippers a couple times when he stuck on the outlay and it went down. I'm not really sure why Josh flipped it himself instead of giving it to... Hey, Josh. Yes. So I'm curious to know, why did you try flipping it out instead of Joe?
    48:24
Because... Because isn't it... Before this game or now going forward? Well, before this game, because it was technically in the out lane, so it's a drain ball, or the player can try to free it themselves. It's not an in-lane out-lane because of the gate. Because of the state of the gate, it wasn't... But going forward, in all cases, in perpetuity, we would make him par-pilote. I can't make him nudge him for fear of tripping, but I can make him flip it. If he helps flipping, then we'll have a showdown of what just happened. Yeah, so there you go. So from the tournament director himself.
    49:02
So an executive order has been issued by IFPA president Josh Sharp. Scott Pilgrim, it wasn't Carl, it was Joe.
    49:16
So Johnny Monica is stepping up here. Again, all he needs is $40,000 and he will advance. Oh, nice little catch there.
    49:29
Still that one line. So he gets the plunge and it's lit. The center lane is lit. Which is very nice.
    50:25
Get it in there. Oh no. So the pop actually sent it back up in the middle lane, which is quite nice.
    50:59
That was a really nice rip. So Keith getting control here, probably get it back up top. Double bonus. Wow, great save. That was a really, really good save.
    52:11
So Keith having a solid ball here. He's got 14, 28,000 a bonus. He's not going to make it to 200. All right, so. Johnny Monica's top step. So if that's Jake's, I guarantee he's a tiebreaker for Keith Olsen now. Joe picked up a five. No matter what, he had the tiebreaker opportunity. Yes.
    52:45
And now Johnny has made the finals. Jim and Jason. Jim Belsito and Jason Werdrick have advanced to the finals. They both got twos on fishtail.
    53:04
Fishtails is a fair playing game. especially for guys that are talented as Jim J. All four of those guys, everybody in the top 16 today were very good.
    53:24
So Johnny Monica advances into the finals. And as long as he doesn't tell, he also advances. It's kind of haphazardly flipping it away now. Yeah. Because, I mean, you always keep flipping until you got it, and that should do it. Don't count it. Go ahead. 44,000. We have Jim Belcino, Jason Woodrick, Keith Ellin.
    54:05
And the top four? No, it takes for one in a row. I think Jim will be driving the bus. He was the two seed. Carl D'Angelo was the number one seed and has been eliminated.
    54:26
Carl's coming in? No, I'm going to get you. Carl's not coming in. So this was before the final round.
    54:47
So in the finals, we're going to have Johnny Modica, Keith Elwin, Jim Belstito, and Jason Wergerich playing for all the marbles here in the IFPA Pin Masters final. If you're just now joining us, that's where we are. We're out here in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pinball Hall of Fame. Huge weekend of pinball. We had the IFPA National Championships and the Women's World Championships on Thursday, followed by two days of qualifying for pin golf on Friday and Saturday, and this morning, an afternoon of finals. Women's World, too. I mentioned that. Oh, I did. Yep, which was extremely entertaining. A lot of highly skilled play coming out of the women in Worlds.
    55:32
We're getting ready to start the final rounds here. We're going to show some more IE pinball logos while some clerical work is done getting everything set up for the final round.
    55:46
What do you think Jim will pick? Jim is going to go Batman. Fishtails, Demoman. If Keith had any say in it, he would pick Drop A Card, Bollie,
    56:02
and the fun house that doesn't lock balls. That fun house. So great. So in the booth we've got a whole bunch of us now. We've got Luke, we've got Greg, we've got Brian, we've got Priyanka, all hanging out in Las Vegas. We got the honorable mention prize of getting to sit in the booth while everyone else keeps playing. It's going to be exciting fun. Yeah, place your bets. You're in Vegas. I have a hard time putting my money on anyone other than Keith Ellen.
    56:59
But in this format, we can't count anybody out because you can get hosed pretty quick. Yeah. I think I'll root for Jason, I think.
    57:11
I don't know. He's been playing really well. Anybody can take it. Any of the four that are left could take it. Jim Del Sito was a... was a Pinnberg... were you in Pinnberg or Papa? That was a big one, I think it was Pinnberg. A couple years ago. He was in Pinnberg last year and the year before that didn't even work. So he's always a top performer, very consistent player. Keith Allen, a multiple time world champion. There's nine pinball machines, which one are you pointing at? Batman. Called it. The Dark Knight. Harvey Dent. Josh Sharp looked terrible. But he's on Kiss.
    57:52
Alright, so we're going to Batman. I think the ruling is it ended up not bad. Yeah. Is it still only for Kiss? I think the Belsito hype is real. We watched him in the booth yesterday. The first day of qualifying, he was really on point. He's getting twos and ones. You know what? Actually, I pick Ed Zeltman to win the IFPA Pinmasters. Oh, I like that. He's going to fly out here and, like, just blow it up.
    58:22
I am the bat. I like playing that. So, let's see. And there it is. Well, half the people are gone. So, it looks like they just finished up on fishtails.
    58:43
So, a real good weekend of pinball, a lot of highly skilled play, a lot of good time spent with friends, and a really good bank. It was an interesting bank. We had Drop a Card, Fishtails, Neptune, Funhouse, Demolition Man, Evil Knievel, Space Station. It lived for about a game and a half. Was it on? No, it wasn't on, but it was over here. I saw it on for about seven minutes. It was about, yeah, it lived through seven minutes of play and then decided that it was taking its ball and going home. Batman, Dark Knight, Volley, Game of Thrones, Kiss, and Metallica. Valley Kiss, that is.
    59:22
It was quite interesting because the game list was way different. Before we had Taxi, that went out. Diner.
    59:35
There's another one. NBA Fast Break went out. Oh, that broke my heart. I wanted to play some fast-paced real bad. I made sure to look over the answers to all those quiz questions. It's funny how I'm a walking encyclopedia of useless pinball knowledge. Do you know your 90s basketball? I do now. I do now. I procrastinated studying, and it paid off. Sometimes it does.
    60:01
My favorite NBA Fast-Paced Trivia question is, how much is this question worth? 10 points. Yeah, they should just make a... as soon as you shoot it, you just get 10 points.
    60:14
Oops. You're right, Ed. I root for everybody. Go team. I've got a feeling we're going to see a couple ones on this Batman. Certainly not a gimme score, but an obtainable ball one score. They actually lowered it from 50 to make the blood makes it look much better.
    60:38
    E. Farrell, 93. Big shout out to him. He's a new player. He's actually from West Virginia. Anybody want anything from In-N-Out?
    60:45
Yeah, I'll take a double with just ketchup. I've eaten nothing but In-N-Out this whole trip. Double, double animal style, please.
    60:54
I ate In-N-Out last night before. So, it's been long enough. Oh, man. I don't know if I can do it. Yeah, you can probably do it. Oh, man. Okay. Double double animal chow. No pickles or tomatoes. The internet hype is so real right now. Write it down. Josh dropped his mic here. Okay, you guys write it down. Write it down. Oh boy.
    61:14
Do you have a pen? Is there a pen floating around? No pens in the booth? Yeah, we can't take notes back here. Everybody is selling all of our pens. Let me see.
    61:27
Ooh, my favorite. Paul McGlone pen. The Paul McGlone pens have made it to Vegas. Ryan, what do you want? Just double-double. Just catch up. I'm just waiting what you're saying. And I need to get that. It's not shaking. Up there, man.
    62:30
Thank you Josh. Josh is a nice guy. So Jim Player won here. He's uh... Oh my. Is that just one? Hmm? Does anybody see what skill shot he chose? It looks like, I can't tell. The LEDs make it tough. I think it's the top one. I think he picked Scarecrow.
    63:13
So, that's a tough drain. He lit the second lock and then quickly drained. So, the typical order of operations here is to get two out of your three Joker locks done before starting the crane, or before shooting the crane the first time. Having the crane ball in the way when you're trying to make those lock shots is really, can send your ball out of control. Sometimes it does not. It's the opposite. So you'll still, what we'll likely see here in this first game, everybody going for lock shots, then scarecrow,
    63:47
and stacking the two multi-balls at the same time. Good shot there. and he gets 2 plus bonus X. Interesting, Johnny is just going to shoot on the fly out of the scoop. It's actually an easy trap. I cannot believe. Well, it's gotten a little bit more squirrely as the day has gone on. It's been going to the tip of the flipper, and they've had to flip it away. The flipper band.
    64:17
Hashtag Joe Scaletta hype. So, let's see what Johnny does here. Oh, nice. The feet out of the pops can be brutal. It goes out of the spinner and just like goes crazy. Tried to forehand it, did not go in. So the Joker shot is backhandable or forehandable right on cue there.
    64:52
So now he's going to want to go for the crane shot. And the reason being, if you start your Joker multi-wall before the crane is out, you cannot get the stack.
    65:02
Snacks are also good. Snacks are good, too. Snacks and stacks. Flippers and butts, snacks and stacks. That's going to be my new, I'm going to turn it into Jack Danger and that's going to be my catchphrase. My man. Snacks and stacks. The snacks for real though. Got the scarecrows out. So he's going to want to shoot the lock shot here now, for the Joker anyway. Oh, nice. Nicely done. He's working on two dangers, remember. this particular example, if you give it kind of an emphatic, you know, flip and move it a little bit with some energy, it'll tell you. It'll give you at least a warning. Try to shoot on the fly and there he got it All right John and Monica living on the edge with two dangers He got four more shots this year though So again, now what I want to do is, you'll see the crane moving around, and if he completes, if he hits the crane on all five positions, he'll start, he'll create a scarecrow multiball and that almost sent it down the left out lane, So he's not going to get a stack here, but he will have crane ready. Now that's a valuable mystery award is light multipliers.
    66:24
And he multiplied his right orbit. Are the final five machines or is it just three? What is it now? I'm sorry. Are the finals, are they coming back? That's three games. I thought it was three. I know Brian said that a lot of shots are forehandable, but you want to limit the amount of risk. So if the backhand is safer, I would do it. Ron, in this case, you'd rather forehand the field goal. Oh yeah. You don't want to hit that target. Yeah. I like backhanding the left lane. The left orbit? Yeah, you can do it on this example. Big batter with a good point kick. Alright, Jason Roderick from Chicago. So Jason at least getting his Batmobile started here. So that will be one of the three required objectives for BatSignal Challenge, which I don't know if he's going to cash in on it, so that will be done. That's very nice. And get that out of the way. So, par on this is 30 mil, right? Par is $30 million.
    68:32
Originally on day one it was $50 million, and this game was taking forever. Yeah. Forever. It was like three groups leading. Yeah, it was the bottleneck game for the tournament for sure, and they looked at the data, which really was obvious, and they decided to cut down the par on this and Metallica and another game as well. I think Game of Thrones changed as well.
    68:59
I don't think David Jones changed, what about Metallica? Metallica did change. It was 30, they knocked it down to 20. You know, that score sounds low, but once you're playing golf all the time... Oh, yeah, it's impossible. It's a heartbreaking dream, but he's fed up. Alright. I like picking the Joker skill shot because you can get the stack going on ball one with All in one, there's super jetpots. Happens when there's... Yeah.
    69:57
So Keyes immediately, with no time, going for the joker lock shots. See how it comes out of the pot? Oh.
    70:08
Nice shot on the fly, nice catch. Oh, he finds his new scare pro. Made a wonderful save and then... So neck and neck here in game one of three of the IFPA pin masters finals. Between Jim Belsito, Johnny Modica, Jason Wardrick, Keith Ellin, all familiar faces in these kind of events. If you look at their IFPA rankings, Jason's at 19, Keith is at 2. I missed what Johnny and Jim's were, but I can imagine they're all up there.
    71:22
They're letting winglet settle, which is probably a good idea. Yeah, you know, that was pretty common.
    71:31
Every tilt warning is a valuable one, and on a lot of these you can't make too big of moves. Batman today seemed a little bit more liberal than yesterday.
    71:42
Fishtails was a lot tighter today than yesterday. I'm not sure why that was the case, but a lot of people were having a tough time on fishtails. Metallica was a little bit more liberal today.
    71:56
But either way, the tilt warnings are still really valuable. And you don't want to get up there too early while it's still moving around and cost yourself what might be,
    72:05
well, it's essentially an extra ball. Jim has one ball locked, one lit. It's locked. Is this gear code still hidden?
    72:22
So the ritual from Jim Belcito, the pre-plunge ritual. Take the lock shot. Oh, that spot target, every time, right down the middle.
    72:56
Johnny doesn't have a lot of progress. He's got progress on one of his shots. Oh, that was a pop in the middle. That's what we were talking about earlier. Sometimes those pops can be devastating. I would have settled because he gave it a good push towards the end. So there are no ball saves. Some of the games were set on extra hard. really, really tough playing games, but I guess when you're playing at a really high level tournament like this, those kind of things are to be expected. And that, not having ball saves, it's really interesting to see everyone kind of talking about, you know, what's the safest way to handle this game, but still maximize my points so I can be done faster. Yeah, it's hard to wrap your brain around it, because you'll play in your local league, and you'll be so used to Game of Thrones having a ball save. Yeah. You're so used to So like, you know, it'd be like, okay, Walking Dead or any kind of new series, just like, you know, okay, next one, I'll get it. Yeah, all of a sudden the plunge is so challenging. Oh, yeah. It's more pressure on the plunge. He chose not to get his crane out, which I'm surprised he didn't, but... But somebody in the chat had mentioned earlier that stacking it is still possible, but I don't... Let's see what happens here, because, you know, I'm not sure if I was holding correctly or if I just was mistaken. So let's see. He shot it in there.
    74:38
I didn't see any. Yeah, the crate is stuck in, so that stack isn't going to happen. Yeah, he probably just wanted to get something going. Yeah, from his own experience, it was a business decision.
    74:51
He could be right. All right. Got control now. So he'll backhand the left orbit, possibly, maybe, call him a shot. He did not. He got his add-a-ball. Nice. Now, jailbreak.
    75:06
Oh, you got to dump some. We gotta hit something, Jason. A little frustrated there. Rightfully so. You're gonna want to cradle separate here.
    75:27
Nicely done. Nice up and over under. Alright. Oh. Grace period. Got it. 9.8. 9.6. So he's not out of the woods yet. Paying his out.
    75:51
So he's going to start imposters here. And this could be the last points that he needs. A couple shots. These shots are worth about a million. 1.2 million per shot at any of the flashing arrows there. He wants to pick the safest one.
    76:09
1.25 million. Nice, you can do it. We'll go for the Joker. Here's another one. 2.5. 2.5 million. He should be there. He wants bonus. I hope that says 5 or 9. Nice hand, you guys.
    76:33
Is that going to do it? Nice shot. Nice save out of the club. Oh! Oh! Nice drop catch there. There it is. That'll do it. Alright, good job by Jason. Showing us first hand that sometimes you just gotta take scarce points. He didn't try to take out the crane, he just started his multi-ball and shot the wood. Very nice. So Jason Werdrick. What ball are we on? I feel like we're on ball like 87. Ball two. So Jason starts with a two. Very, very good. Stepping up here.
    77:29
Do you have one Greg? Oh that was close. But Keith gets his Joker started. He does the same thing. He has Joker in his gear code, not Sarno.
    77:48
It looks like he selected the Joker skill shot on the plunge. So those are doubled. He's just racking up jackpots. Oh, that ball save's going. Yeah, I don't blame him. Very precise. Here's another one. It's two for already $4 million.
    78:13
Ugh. Now this is exactly the position he wants to be in. So an Elwynn separation coming up here, animal style. No pickle. No pickle, please. Ah, tough train here. Nice little chimmy there. going for Alfred, but Alfred isn't lit. Maybe he wasn't going for Alfred.
    79:05
Alright, so he is out of Joker multiball. Missed backhand to what I think was probably the Scarecrow. There he goes.
    79:19
I can't see the score. About 23 million? No, the first one is a 1. Oh, it is a 1. Might be a 3. It might be a 6. I can't tell. So he'll start Impostors. Nope, he will not start Impostors. I'm off my game this morning, guys. He didn't get Scarecrow, so he can't. Impostors is just a separate mode. and the scarecrow.
    79:51
So, I don't know if that would have any effect on Impostor. Impostor was started by completing the Batman targets on the left.
    80:05
We'll almost have that one. It needs two more cranes. Oh, no. I'm surprised he didn't back him the crane shot when it was out towards the left orbit because that tends to be a little bit safer and then save the one in the middle you know for the last shot to start his multi-ball because at that point you have a ball save um you know that when the crane's in the middle that's when it's really dangerous to shoot those yeah always take a backhand like if it's safer even if it would have gone on the right flipper i would have i would have I thought that he would take the one on the far left first. But there's a reason why he's out there and I'm back here talking about it. Ha ha ha.
    81:02
Hi, let's see if Jim chooses to go right into Joker like Jason and Keith did. Or, uh, he looks like it more of a whiz.
    81:14
He does today, he's got the crane out. He's going to wait for the crane to move. I love how it's only blocking you the first time. Yeah, it takes forever. He's going to start coming out later. Oh no! That was a very nice inline. Nicely done Jim.
    81:44
He's just going for it, which is great. He selected Batmobile for his skill shot, and likely so he could get double bonus at the end of his ball. So he had already selected Joker and already selected Scarecrow. Batmobile was the only one left, and when you've completed all three of those... He's hurting. He has little balls game.
    82:16
And his add-a-ball is still lit. Can you get him down a ball? There he is, the animal, that's huge. He's got a big opportunity to close it out here. Ball three, right? Yeah, ball three.
    83:00
Yeah, what's up, Evan? He's got to be getting close to the super here. Jim gets it on ball three. So, we have Jim with three, Jason with two, and Johnny and Keith have a little ways to go here.
    83:25
Johnny a little more so than Keith. Yeah, I think he had a tough break. Oh, no. Wow. I've seen a lot of rough drains. And suddenly that... He didn't get into the footwear. Yeah.
    83:49
He's got one shot on the left for a multi ball. He's got one shot left. Oh man, that was... Nice shot. Nicely done on the backhand.
    84:37
He wants Alfred, maybe. There it is. Nice shot. And he could start working on his joker again. Probably reach him to the belly. Cradle separation coming up. That was also, I mean, all of the games, the outlanes this weekend. I would be willing to put a good chunk of money that at least 65-70% of the drains from this weekend were from the outlands.
    85:27
It's sling, sling, outlands. Sling, sling, outlands. That's like a drop of card. Oh, well, yeah. Drop of card and volley. That's a gimme. That might skew the data a little bit.
    85:38
He hit the joker one more time to light it. Let's see what he decides to do. I'm interested to see... Plus two bonus X. He's just going to spinner this out? Spinner this out and go for pops? Maybe not now. His bonus multiplier is getting up there. That's probably what he's doing, yeah. And one shot here is probably going to seal it for him.
    86:41
So, L1 takes a three as well. So, Jason had a two, Jim and Keith a three, and Johnny is battling for the four. So he starts in postures here.
    87:30
It's control here. Very interesting strategy there. Nice. He gets his multiball started. And bringing imposters into the multiball is going to be looking good.
    88:17
So this will help him significantly for sure. So one more final crane shot and it will light a scooper at the scoop. There it is. And that scooper should be worth about a million I think depending on what he picked. Oh he picked scarecrow. He got it. And it's multiplied from the mine shot and that will do it. $30 million.
    88:56
Yeah, we should totally John Madden out this broadcast and start talking about the important part of winning pinball is scoring enough points to win the game by hitting shots.
    89:08
All right, so that'll do it for game one. We got a two, two threes, and a four. So it's still anybody's match. We're going to game two of three. Let's see what Jim picks. This is the final match, and Jim is probably going to pick something like Fishtails or Demoman. I don't think he's going to go anywhere near Game of Thrones. I don't think he's going to pick something like Drop a Card or Volley.
    89:35
Batman is out. I think Fishtails. I would probably say Fishtails. Now, the important way to win on Fishtails is to not drain and keep the ball alive as much as possible.
    89:52
That's extremely important in fishtails. It's going to be fun if we pitch fishtails because I bet we're going to see a couple different approaches. I bet people go for multiball and some people will be chasing monster fish. I'm a monster fish guy through and through.
    90:10
To me, I didn't want to risk even hitting the lock shot because that target's up at first. I didn't want it to come screaming back down in the center drain. Oh, yeah. You know, just if you can get into a good groove on that ramp, it's just better to go for monster fish, in my opinion. Especially their full-size flippers, it's easier to get control of the ball. Oh, yeah, and they do have... You just got to stay determined. Sometimes that monster fish stays lit. You don't collect it. You just got to keep going. And then what, you pick up $12 million for lighting it from the boat, even if you don't collect it? Just about, yeah, just about. Monsterfish goes 20, 30, 40. By the second one, you're pretty much close to 100. Right.
    90:52
So there's our current standings in the finals. Jim Belcedo with three, Johnny with four, Jason with two, and Keith with three.
    91:02
It's really tight. I mean, like I said, I doubt you'll see it, but somebody could walk up and get tenned and then really be in trouble. or, you know, and at this point it's interesting because if everyone plays out of their minds and aces the next two games, Jason wins. You know what I mean? This is a really interesting format because it's really anybody's match at any time.
    91:30
Even if you started off with two ones, you could take an eight. Oh, yeah. And all of a sudden you're in trouble. What game are we going to, Mr. D'Angelo? Demolition Man. Alright, looks good. Demolition Man. Now, a good strategy on Demolition Man is more points. You want to get par in the fewest balls possible. And uh, Priyanka's back in the booth.
    92:10
Hello Priyanka. Hi! What happened? Uh, we're going to game two and uh, Jim has selected Demoman. That's great, we haven't seen that yet. And uh, Demoman's another game that has a really reasonable targets score of 600 million, but then all of a sudden you're playing golf and it looks hard.
    92:32
Yeah, the claw is $600 million. Carl? Somebody could find Carl? I'll get Carl. You know what? I really like Demoman. I love Demoman. It's a really good game. It's really fun. When you get into the zone, it's great. I like it more now that the claws are stable. Like, I never really knew how to play it, but now that I've learned a lot, like, how to deal with the claw being off. Really? Oh, yeah. I like it way more than when the claw's on, because otherwise it's just freeze lock, freeze lock, freeze lock, freeze lock, and it's boring. So, to be honest, I've really never played it with the claw on. Like, when we, I went to my flipper skill the other day, the claw was on, and I was like, what is happening? Yeah. Then I understood what you're talking about now, but most times it's off, or broken, I guess. So we're going to try to get the scores up here for you.
    93:55
Just a moment. All right. So Jim already into multiball here, his first multiball. The right ramp is going to be lit for the super jackpot.
    94:31
The target score on Demoman is 600 million. It's because the asset isn't built into this team. That's the problem.
    94:45
I didn't see that. So. Nice, and he scores the super jackpot. Another jackpot. He's racking them up now.
    95:02
Actually, some people find that they play better with using the clipper buttons, and to get the combos, they reach over and touch the trigger buttons. I've seen it both ways. I'd say it's an equal number of players are comfortable using just the flippers. I was going back and forth a little bit on my games.
    95:24
Very good. Jim Balsito aces Gemoman. All in one. He asked it for the... Yep. I don't know why it's not working. What's that? I don't know why it's not working. Thank you very much.
    95:59
Carl D'Angelo saving the day. Hey, you can see strokes. All right, so... Hey, Carl. Oh, a tough drain there for Johnny. So now this really puts pressure on Jason and Keith to get this finished in one because at this point you're losing strokes. You're falling behind, and he's already got three. So at a minimum he's got four. Jason doesn't want to finish with anything more than two. He's tied with Johnny. Johnny's already behind by a stroke at least.
    96:34
And Keith has still three balls to play. So that's super advantageous to get that out of the way on ball one.
    96:45
And this format is super interesting. You press a lot of things. This demo man's playing really nice. Oh, it's a really smooth playing demo man.
    96:56
That right ramp. And that's been, you know, I'd say one out of every three half right ramps have either, you know, Some are controllable, some just right down the middle. It just depends on how high it goes up there. So if he starts his multi-ball here, it'll be two ball, and then the ball will still be left to the second multi-ball. Yeah. So he's got an interesting decision to make here. He can start his multi-ball the old-fashioned way by shooting the inner left loop, but it looks like he's going to shoot the right ramp just to get his multi-ball going. And that's not a bad decision. So he's going to take the secret jackpot. It was a smart move to hold the right flipper up and let it bounce over.
    97:39
So try to get that first one out of the way. Left ramp. Nice shot. Right ramp. Super jackpot. It's that easy, folks.
    97:51
Combo. Combo go there. Center ramp. Underground scoop. That's what it's called. The computer. It's also called the underground. It's got more than one name. I'm not sure. See it says shoot underground, not shoot the computer. Learn your pinball. Oh, oh he got it, he got it. Nice, so he's more than half way there. His quick freeze is lit. So I want to, uh, uh. It's an exciting game to watch, I'm glad they did this. So he's probably going to get the MTL completed to relight his claw. Oh, brutal. But still that a really good start on a tough playing Demoman Keith Allen representing the Journey Pole T That a stick shirt He got so many good ones I've never been so jealous for T-shirts before in my life. Like, even if I'm not part of it, you see the best. I'm sure he's out there.
    99:03
So Keith is probably going to elect to start... Ooh, a little late there. Left ramp, right ramp? Post pass? Just kidding.
    99:16
Oh, not enough. Oh, that's what I just... Tough break for Keith there. He's got to have a lot of power to go all the way up that ramp.
    99:31
So that's got to be a good feeling for Johnny. I'm sorry, that's Jim's ball. No, that's not a good feeling. I was like, wait a minute.
    99:40
So, Johnny, it's hot fall one. See if you can recover. It seems like the computer shot's a bit low. It is, and it's weird. Whenever it's coming around the inner orbit there, tough terrain,
    100:03
when it's coming around the inner orbit off the plunge, as soon as it hits the flipper rubber, it slows down, and it makes the timing really difficult. Yeah, especially if you're used to playing one at home or something, it's not, you know, a different shot. Yeah, yeah. Because I've honestly accidentally shot the left ramp with that upper clipper, and then when it comes back down it's so bad.
    100:29
You really want to be dialed in with the meter shot. Oh yeah. I mean, it gives you that nice controllable feed to the right end lane, lights your quick freeze.
    100:40
Oh my! Josh Sharpe is the man with the plan. If you hear some really disgusting sounds, it's us eating our cheeseburgers. This one's nice. I think. No tomato. Yours ain't no pickle, Charlie. Yeah, Gene coming over appreciating the In-N-Out Burger. And this is only like the seventh In-N-Out Burger I've had in three days, everybody. In-N-Out Burger, the sponsor of pinball players all over Las Vegas. It's the breakfast, lunch, and dinner of champions. You ready? Got it. extremely happy right now.
    101:32
We're very good work, Rick. If I could make this any more unprofessional. Alright. Alrighty, still got a ways to go. We've only got 14 million in bonus right now, so...
    101:48
Thought we'd go for some combos. Oh my. So now this is important. If he drains, he has to relight his cryo lock. He's already gone through the left end lane. If he doesn't cash in on his claw, because it's on extra hard settings, he has to relight it on the next ball. It won't be there for him. Alright, so going into game 3, Jim Del Cito is going to have to lead. It's in that 4.
    102:31
It falls quiet in the booth. I got you, buddy. It looks like people are struggling with that computer shop. It's a strange shot. And it's also changed during the entire length of the tournament. It's been different. So Keith's going to try to get the right ramp there. Starts his multi-ball. Wow, yeah.
    103:06
Left ramp, right ramp. And bang. Super jackpot. Here he comes. Boom. He means business now. This just dawned on me. I absolutely love the sound of arcades. It sounds so cool in here.
    103:38
I'm giving the game tiny little nudges to make his cradle separation a little easier. I'm going to shoot the middle, hopefully it will come out the left. Computer shot. There it is. Oh, the right's lit for the super again. Oh, that's exactly what he wanted up into the retina scan. That's not what he wanted. That's what he wanted. Another super. Favorite baby. Now, he's got it. She's got it, yeah. Well done.
    104:15
So that was all two, right? Somebody gets a two? Yep. She has a five. She has five. Jim has four. Let's see what Johnny can do here.
    104:45
I feel like... Oh, no way. Standing ball three with 22 million. So currently, Johnny is on pace for a 10, which would almost all but effectively knock him out. But he had a monster come back on fish tails, and he's good enough to make it work. So we'll see what he can do. Jason starts ACMAD. It's a mode where you shoot the center ramp and the value grows for that center ramp as the timer runs out. You can see the energy bar there at the bottom progressing towards the 13.5 million. So every time you shoot it, it's a little bit more valuable. Now there's also, this is one of the modes where you can get some secret points. If you push on the launch buttons on the triggers, it will give you credit for an acmag shot, so you want to do it towards the end. That computer shot. There he gets it. There's the cow moo, 13 and a half million free points. The knocker on this, oh. What were you saying? The knocker goes off at 500 million. And yesterday I made the mistake of letting it drain because I thought I had it without looking at my score, which is the bonehead mistake. I drained the ball out with like 540 million and had 60 million in bonus from the previous bonus holdover ball. And I finished like 600 million, like 100,000. And it was a valuable lesson learned.
    106:28
Yeah, it's tough because on Game of Thrones when the replay knocks, you knew you got it. Oh, Monica.
    106:41
He's determined. So see if he chooses to do the left frame for the post pass. It seems like everybody wants to start the multi-ball and the re-ball, but the value of keeping that claw there is you have another multi-ball sitting there for you. But in this, I mean, I can't. You want to get to multi-ball as quick as possible. And now this is just... Oh, man, he really can't catch a break.
    107:10
No, he doesn't get a DQ because they all got par already, so he can't punch the balls. I feel like this is one of those games where if you can't find the shots and you're struggling and flailing around, you're in a lot of trouble. I mean that's true for anything, but like this and fish tails if you can't find them early, it's not good. I mean yeah, the pitch is steep so like you gotta shoot really precise. Alright so Jason has 20 something in bonus, if he multiplied his bonus to 2 that would be enough. Get some other couple of combos, we'll get there. Oh man.
    108:00
What a tough break for Jason. Well I am thoroughly satisfied now that I have had some food. Oh yeah, Josh dropped his face in the bag. I'm trying my best not to spill this all over me. Alright, this is still Tim's ball that he's punching. And here we go, ball five. Alright, let's see what Johnny can do here. A little late there.
    109:00
Oh, nice in lane there. I just wanted to hit the right rib once. Yeah, just get this monkey ball going. Oh yeah. He does it the old way. He's not happy about that. So he takes the secret jackpot by pressing the plunge buttons on the top of the triggers. Unfortunately he wasn't in museum multiball or that side loop ramp would have been a jackpot. Oh, there's nothing you can do. Alright, so this is actually good because he can shoot the claw now and get his locks. And get his other multiball going. Oh! Looks like he's gonna get... Probably a... Probably a nine. Yeah, I think that's either an eight or a nine. It could be an eight.
    110:13
So Jason just needs, uh, 20 million. He's got his bonus, so he's gonna give himself something. He got a five here. This is one of those things where if you're in a match play situation and not pin golf, it's like it's the hardest 20 million in your life to get. You're like, it's a gimme, but it's not. He certainly, his explode right there did it. Yeah, he's got it. He's got it. So, Jason's going to take North again, three with a seven. Yeah. Jim's got a four. Keith has five. Johnny has like... Well he picked up a 9 there and he had a 1 on Batman 4, he had a 4 on Batman. This is not ball 5 is it? This is ball 5. Oh. Yeah.
    111:06
I'm going to walk over to the game and see how many folks we can jump in. Alright, report back shortly.
    111:16
Alright, so Jim Belzito with an ace, a very timely ace. We'll have four. And we're heading into the final game. So Johnny's going to have 13, so he's going to need some serious help to come back and finish high. I don't know that he can, I don't think he can mathematically win it, because if Belzito takes a 10, there's high. And that's unlikely.
    111:49
Yeah, because Velfia gets to pick. Jim gets to pick. Let's see where he goes. He's going to El Toro! Look at that! What a stunning change of events.
    112:04
I want to see some drop-a-cards for all the Marvels. Oh yeah, could you imagine? Tell me. Fist Pound. Oh, I thought you were going to say drop-a-card. We knew Fist Pound. In qualifying the first night, Jim got a two on fishtail in a really exciting way. He brought Rock the Boat into multiball and I swear he got a hundred million in like seven seconds. It was incredible to watch.
    112:45
Now the interesting thing about this fishtail is this has probably been mentioned about 8,000 times this weekend but it's got regular clippers. They're not lightning clippers. And there's a post. There's no rubber on the post. I didn't even know it was there. The first time I hit it I was like what just happened. There's no rubber on the post. Uh, but fishtails don't come with posts. The previous owner before the Hall of Fame got it and put it there. Oh, another fun fact, it doesn't have the fishing thing. It just has a button. Yes.
    113:20
Fishing rod. Thanks, Carl. Hashtag praise Carl. So you see the updated scores there. It's not hot. So for other marbles, Jim, Johnny, Jason, and Keith, See, if everyone takes tens, if everybody gets hosed, Johnny could win. Well, if he gets a one and everyone else takes a ten, he'll have a tie with Jim for first place. But that's the only way this could work. But to get a ten, you'd have to get below how much? It's like 30 million, something. Less than 30 million, you get tens. So what are the chances? I mean, anything's possible. That's one monster fish. Monster fish in the world. Alright, so here we go.
    114:24
So the feed on the orbit there is a little squirrely. It goes closer towards the tip of the left flipper than the center.
    114:36
Oh! Oh, there it goes. Well, remember, this game is pretty tight. It will tilt you. Yeah, and the only reason that probably didn't tilt is because it hasn't been played for about half an hour. Now it's swinging. Ryan, were you saying that the tilt was tighter than it was? It felt like it, for sure. I know Bob Matthews had a tough time. He tilted just by flipping. We were watching him, and generally when I say things, when people say all I was doing was flipping, they put a little extra sauce on the flip, and that's a problem. But if we were watching him just flipping, Alright, the Chinese are going to throw now. That's four in a row. Monsterfish is lit, pass it over, and the monsterfish! Look at that! That is technical, what you need to do. Well done. It's got about 31 million, so the first, if you, if you, uh, you get about 10 million points just from the boat before you even shoot the monsterfish. So, essentially you get 30 million points there, uh, for the first one. Yeah, about two and a half monster fish. Right, so now that Jim is not going to get a hole-in-one, if Keith was to get a hole-in-one, who could guarantee at least a tiebreaker for first place?
    115:54
Johnny may have chosen to pick first to stay out of the way. I don't know why he made that choice to go first. Most people choose left, but I mean, it depends on how you're feeling. Oh, man.
    116:11
Yeah, the speed from the top to the right is really bad. I feel like it just screams towards the left. It's awful. You have to be ready for it or go blink. All right.
    116:27
Oh, he did pick you to go second. Yeah, he probably wanted to stay out of everybody's way. He's so far behind. So he's got his video mode lit. See, look at that. That is so weird looking. Oh, it didn't hit it hard enough. So it looks like he's going for video mode. He's going for video mode.
    117:08
Abort mission. I'd like to see some video mode, but yeah, that's dangerous. Very dangerous. He didn't want to take it too much, but he already dropped it with the net.
    117:31
So they're going to let that sit for a second? So Johnny Longa has the most plays right now. He's player two.
    118:05
We got a bunch of comments on the Twitch feed about the games not being level. I felt like Metallica and Fishtails were level. I mean it could have changed. With Fishtails and something from today, I don't know. It wasn't screaming towards the left like that yesterday. The game's all set up really well. Yeah, the game's rolled very nicely.
    118:28
Jim can win with a two, that's right. Jim gets a hundred million here and he is our pinnacle champion.
    118:40
Let's see what he decides to do. This game is just so tight. It's so tight. It makes me... So the FastCast gets it. He's probably going to go for the video mode here. Here he comes. Nicely done. And again, there he goes. His video mode is lit. All he has to do is shoot the left orbit. Bang. Alright, so what's the maximum value here? You can pick up like I think it's 60 right? So I've been hearing there's like some weird lag with this video mode. Well, this fishtail has a button instead of a trigger. You can use the clickers though. You gotta get the timing down. I think the lag is in reference to the color DMD. You got the big score. So enormous. 54 million. That was a strong video. Oh no. He's halfway there. That was nice. Boat. Fast cast. He just wants to shoot that arm match earlier. That's all he wanted to do. He just wanted to shoot the fast cast. Oh, rock the boat. Rock the boat! That's nice! Yeah! You can do it here!
    120:12
I can feel it. One pin master. Congratulations! Getting a round of applause. Nicely done. So Jim Velfita will take a sixth and win the IFPA Pin Masters here in Las Vegas, Nevada. Congratulations to Jim.
    120:49
See, like we were talking about multiball versus monster fish, but he just said video mode, rock a boat. Video mode, rock a boat. See you later. We'll hear your monster fish. Forget about it. Yeah. Interesting strategy and it paid off.
    121:02
Really really solid game. Solid performance all weekend from Jim. Where was he ranked? Uh, Speed was his second seed. He was his second seed. Yeah. He did really well. Nicely done. Um... Johnny's definitely bowed into this game. Yeah.
    121:47
What was the first place prize? I think it was $1,600? $1,600. 1,600 smackers. And the green jacket. Look at all those clams. Nice save.
    121:59
Some people come to Vegas and try to win money on slots or blackjack, but you have to go home for $2,000 to practice day on Bimbo.
    122:12
Nice drop catch. You have to follow just to jump off on top of the rail. Oh man. On the fly? On the fly? Yeah! I called it! Beautiful. Nicely done. So he'll take a two. A great performance by Johnny and Monica. That game of Demoman really just... He didn't get a lot of good bounces. So Johnny ends with a 15. So even if Keith gets a 10 there will be a tie. If Jason gets a 10, I don't think it's going to happen. There are a lot of different mathematical ways this can pan out. Math is hard, they don't feel like doing it. Same school. And it looks like Jason might be going for the fast cast, or the long cast, I'm sorry. the long cap, I'm sorry. Nailed the capitol. Nice, his video mode is lit. Cool. Oh man.
    123:46
She's that one stepping over about 7 million. She's the log of second place here. Look at that. Everybody's switching to the long pass rather than the long pass. Celcito laying down the wall. Making everybody change their mind. That's an example of what we were talking about earlier. He just flipped the flip flipper. Too dangerous.
    124:38
Oh, did that bounce off the post? Did you see that? So going into this game, Keith had a two-stroke lead on Jason, right? It was five and seven. Ah, yes. So they're even now.
    124:57
So possibly we might see a tiebreaker. Yeah, that post, that's making my brain hurt. Look at that. Boop. Like, the feet out of that left orbit has drifted further and further right as the day's gone on.
    125:13
Video mode is lit. Let's shoot some gears. Oh! Let the ball stay. It's okay. Nice little live catch. That's it.
    125:36
Alright. Nice shot. Alright, video mode starting. Nice. So you got the big score. worth 20 million. So, uh, very efficient video mode. And I'm going to want the probably the captain's ball to start rock the boat. Rock one, needs five ramps. That'll count. Three more. There's one. Oh! Come on! Four seconds. One more and he is done. All right, good job Jason. So Jason will finish with a ten. He just put the pressure on Keith who needs to get it done this ball. He wants to... Go to a tiebreaker. Oh, second hand. If he doesn't, it could be a tiebreaker. Oh, he gave it back. Wow. So there could be a tiebreaker here now. You know, 10 million, what's the next jump for Stroke? I'm not sure, I can't imagine it would be... Yeah, tiebreaker would be exciting. I'm rooting for Keith to get it done here and force his tiebreaker. I'd like to see more matches, yes.
    127:58
Yeah, you've got to adjust to those small-spice. It was definitely weird. It felt like it took forever for the ball to get where I needed it on the flipper. Theoretically, the bigger flipper should make the game a lot easier. It doesn't if you're so trained to doing it with lighting flippers. I feel like it plays better with lightning.
    128:18
Is video mode lit? Is rock the boat is lit? Oh my goodness! That was awesome. We see the post being used. Oh, out it goes. Jason Werdrick is in the fishing booth in second place. So, let's see here.
    128:49
I think he's at least at nine now. He's got third locked up then. Yeah, so this is over. We are done. We are finished. Johnny. Hail. Yeah.
    129:11
It was a really great week of pinball here at the pinball hall of fame. Oh, it's shout-out time. Take some time to thank the guys at IFPA, Josh Zach Sharp. Thanks, Carl. Brian Woodard, who helped out quite a bit with teching and running and helping us out. Carl D'Angelo for bringing his rig out here. and all the cameras, all the wiring, all the computers, all the manpower.
    129:48
So a lot of thanks to all the hard work that went into the Tembo Hall of Fame here in Las Vegas for hosting the event.
    129:57
Oh, what? Jason doesn't have to buy it. Jason got a 3 right? It was a 7 plus 3. Oh I see, I see. Well when you spent greater than 20 hours behind a computer trying to follow everything, it takes a toll on you, so I apologize. Were we wrong about the stroke count? If Keith gets a 5 here, is it still tied? Yeah, it'll still be tied. Well we apologize everybody. Second place is not yet determined. I am so sorry. Well, Jason finished with 10, Keith has 5, and he's on ball 5, so we missed it.
    130:43
The human element got the better of us, so I don't feel bad. I'm not sorry. You know what? Now that I think about it, I'm not sorry at all. I apologize for you. It's cool.
    131:03
I mean you might as well use it, right? Oh stay in. Don't do that. No. So I think that means he takes at least a six. Yeah, he didn't make it. So that is it for us ladies and gentlemen. We're going to sign off. Thank you for tuning in. And we'll see you next time. Thanks a lot.
