Now who's responsible for this unwarranted attack on my person? I say, I say, I say, pay attention now, boy. This is, of course, Foghorn Leghorn presents the Pinball Junk Drawer. You all asked for it. I say, you all asked for it now. You're gonna get it. Boy, oh boy, are you gonna get it. Go, I say, go away, boy, you bother me. And it's Bring Your Cat to Work Day here at the Junk Drawer headquarters. Anywho, my name's Falkhorn Leghorn. With me, as always, this is the only pinball podcast that has trouble differentiating between 16-ounce and 32-ounce. But it's okay. It's for your ears and your butt, folks. It's all of them. Got anything else before we get rolling? I don't think so. Yeah. Got surprised. I thought we had a case of 32-ounce bottles, you know, pouring some out for your homies. Not so much. It's a case of 16-ounce bottles. Now we're short bottles. We'll figure this mess out. We're doing some homebrewing, whatnot at home. I think we'll be all right. More about that later. More about that later. I do have to kick off the show with a correction. Last show, I mistakenly said Anthony Daniels' C-3PO was the voiceover. He's not. It's another guy that plays C-3PO, I guess, in some of the offshoot stuff, like video games and, you know, those animated movies, stuff like that. So it made sense after you realize Anthony Daniels is a little older. You might be able to hear his age and his voice over acting now. You know, maybe not. Anywho, sorry for that. If you ran out because you're a big Anthony Daniels fan and bought Star Wars because of that, very sorry. But, you know, you have no legal recourse. don't ever listen to me for any kind of news or important facts or anything so you know come here for the nonsense don't come here for the true true facts come for the nonsense and stay for the nonsense is really what we're saying you know and other big news I know a couple people have reached out saying they didn't see us on Silverball Swag it is there now a button wasn't toggled no big deal we are there now so if you go and go to Silverball Swag and click on the promoters, pinball promoters, you will find us, the Pinball Junk Tour there, loud and proud. And, you know, you'll be glad you did. There's stickers and beer mugs and... Not mugs, pint glasses. Yes, pint glasses. And shirts, women's and men's. Yes. We should kind of get some kind of a trucker hat. Or maybe like one of those golf hats. I want a trucker hat. Maybe we should get like a Pinball Junk Tour, like, you know those newsy hats like from Ireland or whatever? We'll get some of those and we'll get them embroidered. No. No? No. How about like a one of those old timey remember those guys that would like box you like this where they put their hands up in the air? Those bowler hats. We could get a, maybe we could get some pinball junker bowler hats. No. Or a trucker hat is fine. I don't think a trucker of those three I'm not sure a trucker hat is going to win but it doesn't matter. I have I instantly think of trucker hats. I think of like, you know, getting punked by Ashton Kutcher. And I know that's an era I don't want to relive. I don't think anyone wants to relive that era. So, well, doesn't matter. Got some, been a couple weeks of Star Wars being out there and being reviewed and, you know, whatnot. And whatever. It's the usual nonsense whenever something gets revealed or, you know, something gets put out. it's a lot different this time since there aren't any out in the wild yet yeah they should be hitting soon i think so yeah i think they said by the end of the month that they'd have some out well for sure there's going to be at um expo yes you know i do i i always like when you have a little bit of time in between you play something for the first time and then you go back and you play it and it kind of gives a little bit more of a realistic like the first time you play something there's a lot going on in your head. Yeah. It's exciting. You're like, oh, my God, look at that. Everything is very, like, new and awesome. You know, even the familiar shots, which, as I was playing it, I could feel some of the shots were very familiar because, you know, they were. Which is fine, too. The depth is probably going to come from the code. And there were some trickier shots. I know backhanding the Death Star from the left flipper was challenging. Yes. But I did it like, I only tried it because Borg said you could when we were playing. And he's saying it. I was like, ah. So then the rest of the day I was like trying it. I got it a couple times. But it's much easier, much more accessible from the right side. But it'll be fun. It'll be exciting to play it. I don't know. We'll probably end up playing it like Lumberjack Johnny. I'm sure. They usually get everything. Yeah, or Cheesesteak Rebellion before we do it at Expo. Because I know Expo, it'll have massive lines and just whatever. Yeah. Well, we'll play it. I mean, we're shoring up all of our plans. For Expo. Yeah. It's really funny. You had mentioned, oh, out of the blue, you were like, oh, I got that other place we were at last time. So when we went to Stern, we stayed at a hotel that was pretty close to where Stern is. What's it called? Weston Gardens? Wyndham Gardens? Wyndham Gardens. Oh. Elkwood Grove. I think that's where Don stayed. Oh. I'm almost sure he stayed at the same one, which is odd that we didn't see him. But I don't know. Who knows? It doesn't matter. So you added that the day before. Yeah. So we're going to go down on Thursday. Yeah. We're leaving work early, heading down there so we can hit up the media event. Yes. Which I didn't. The media mixer. Yeah. It was such weird. This is always how this happens, too. It was so weird. I hadn't seen anything. I was like, I'll just chill. We'll get the, hopefully we get the invite, you know. And I didn't see it. And I was like, okay. Then this was like Tuesday or Wednesday. I was like, I'll just write him real quick and say, hey, is this sent out yet? And he was like, yeah, didn't you get it? It was literally the night before. Like when we woke up that day, we would have seen it. But for some reason in my head, I reached out to him that day and he was like, yeah, didn't you get it? I was like, oh, let me check the spam. And it was in the spam from like that night before. I was like, it was so odd. It's so weird. And it was like, I think and I book the hotel like the day before that all that happened to weird. It was just like, you know, as you get closer, you're like, I should check on that and see. And then when I went into the Expedia app, there was like, oh, this hotel is $50 off. And I was like, oh, that's the hotel that we would stay in. Yeah. I'm not a huge fan of the hopping around, but it doesn't matter. Yeah. I mean, because if we're there Thursday, that means we get up Friday, check out, try and steal as much of the, what's that stuff that you love? Beekman. This hotel has the Beekman. Like shower stuff. Yeah. so I know when I go when I check in I'll be asking for some extra ones and then I'll leave a couple maybe so maybe means yes if I know anything from my Roger Sharp documentary so anyway well so then I mean I not a big fan of hopping around but it won be that big of a deal No Because Friday the daytime Friday is going to be not much Well I thought that what we thought But then when we saw the itinerary it actually opens on Friday Oh, what time? Ah, 11. This is riveting listening for everyone that's not in America for Expo. Right. Which we do have some international news. Yes, we do. Yeah, well, first we have to start with a shout out. Yes, we do. So who's the shout out? Do you have it? We want to do a shout out to Miko Nermi. Miko Nermi. We may be saying that completely wrong and we're sorry. 100% all of this is going to be wrong. Anyway, apparently we're huge in Finland. Yes. And by huge, I mean one guy listens and now... I think two guys listen. I hope two guys listen. So yes, we got an email from Auntie... Oh my... Is that what I mean? No. Let's just go with that. Okay. Sorry. A-N-T-T-I. Yeah. Baka gaijin desu. No. Yeah. Anyway. So he's a listener from Finland. And it was a very funny email. He had like some really funny ideas. He was, because he was talking about like ideas for X-Ball. Yeah. For the giveaway. For the giveaways. He does, he has some pinball machines in Finland that he has operates. Because I wrote back saying, I'm interested in learning more about the pinball scene in Finland. He kind of said it sounded a lot more like America, just smaller. It was bigger in the 80s and 90s or 70s to 90s, which same here. Ours was probably like 60s, 70s, but then it died out, but now it's in some bars and he has some things. I was like, that sounded very similar, but it did sound like there wasn't as much around, which would make sense. Yes. But he's the man keeping things going over there. and he actually had met Rachel from the Poor Man's Tribe. When she was in the UK, I think he said. Because he sounded like he's a tournament player as well, I believe. Yes, when he can. Yeah. Very cool. It was neat listening to him, and he had said that his friend who was doing marketing for a show made up like bicycle seats, covers that had the logo on it. But then as he talked through it, he was like, but I don't think America, his impression was that an expo at America wouldn't have a lot of bicycle riders. And I said, you are dead on, sir. You are very correct in that assumption. But very funny. It was awesome to hear from him. And then when he replied back, I was always very interested in learning about other areas in the world, what pinball is like, spending time in Korea, spending time in Japan. I know that there's none is what there is. And that was one of the things I missed so badly when I was over there. And that time, a year abroad taught me things that you miss and some things you don't. And when I came back, I was reinvigorated. I missed my pinball machine a great deal. and after that we started kind of going into it. So thank you very much for the email. Did you have anything you wanted to highlight from the emails? I did ask if you wanted us to send them stickers and I didn't get an address or reply. So if you would like stickers, please send us your email and we will send you stickers. Or a friend, now friend of the show, Miko Nermy. So if you want some you can send us your email. Shoot us an email at pinballjd at gmail.com and we will hurry out some very shiny stickers and since it's going to Finland, we'll give you a couple extra to post around you know, wherever you want to graffiti the world up. We're always appreciative. Thank you for the email. It was very funny and I had a great time reading it. I was jiving and tears were coming out of our eyes. It's very funny. you know, so now we're looking forward to this. Seeing the tribe again, the tribe presence at Expo is always interesting at best. Or not at best, interesting and fun. Yes, our fearless leader always gets us a booth at Expo, so we're going to be in a booth. I think I'm going to take some stuff to sell. I have some Switch games, sealed, limited run games. I don't think I'll take the expensive ones because they're probably not going to move, but I'll take some. Yeah. And I have those I have those like cast iron, not cast iron, those cast aluminum, these little airplanes from Midget Corporation, M-I-G-E-T, Midget Corporation. They would like these. They made like little cast iron vehicles and they had like all these different planes that they made in this 40 or the 50s and 60s. So I found these at an antique mall, and he had them in a box, and I bought all the ones that looked like the Godzilla. Well, I bought all of them, but I went back because I noticed some of them looked like the back glass for Godzilla. So I bought all those, and then I sandblasted them and repainted them to match the Godzilla, in the idea that I was going to put them on the slings and maybe on the topper I made. But I didn't end up doing that. So I have a lot of them. I might take some of them down. I said that last year and I didn't. I kind of was like, nah, I'm going to keep these. But when you have eight of them, I'm going to use eight of them. So, I mean, maybe I'll keep like four of them and take four down and see if they sell. They might not sell, but they are one of those things that Godzilla fans will immediately see how they look exactly the same. And they're cool because they're metal and they're made from the 50s. You know what I mean? They're just cool. So, I might take some of those down too. I don't know. We'll see. the selling stuff never really pans out too much it's just you know it's uh there's all kinds of interesting things at that booth so it'll be fun yeah the mixer was fun i although i i am having trouble i mix i'm mixing up the kickoff party and the mixer yeah the kickoff party i think they gave us the like hour of gameplay or something oh that's right but i don't think it was working on the pinball machines. No. So it was only working on the arcade games and the other stuff. That was that one thing that was like a like a I don't know. It was like remember like at the Anterium. Yes, the Anterium. So I don't know. Because I do remember seeing some of the people around and I think that's when we played the Space Invaders again at the Anterium and that's when I was like, oh, I don't know. I had a good moment with this at one point, but no. Yeah. Yeah. That's the wide body one we were talking about. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then we played it again at District 82, and then it was like, no, we don't want this. Yeah, because there are some games I play and I have a really good time with, and then I kind of put them on my list of like, if one of these pops up, grab it, you know. And that was on the list for a long time and then when we went back and revisited it and played it a couple times it was kind of like nah That happened with Big Bang Bar I talked about that a couple times on air though The first time we played it I walked out I was like I got to get this game And I heard the lore of it and the back story of it made it more appealing There's only 10 of them, and they're worth $100 million, and oh, my God. And then we went back and played them a second time, and I was like, eh, all right. It's fun, but it wasn't like, you know. I think just the walking away the first time going, oh, my God, what was that? And then you take a picture of it. I'm like trying to find it. And I was like, what is this thing? And I watched the documentary about it. And I was like, oh, this is insane, you know. And then, so is WrestleMania still on your? Yes. Okay. Oh, my God, yeah. Yeah, that's a fun one. That is. And now my brain is already starting to shift as I bounce this off of you for our lineup. what about going after getting all three of the Elviras in a row? That's tough. Yeah. And I think, well, let's try and find them to play them. Maybe we don't want that. Yeah. Like, I know one of them is very fun, but I think the second one, I'm not sure if the second one is. Not Galloping Ghosts, which is the place that had all three of them. Remember that? Logan's? Logan's, yeah. Because when we went to that offshoot one. It was, there was a place that had two locations. Yeah. One location was the... Oh, that was Galloping Ghost, because that had all those old arcades and retro arcades. Yeah, and then the other one had the... Yeah, the pinball. Yeah. No, that was the one, because they did have all three of them, and I was like, oh, that's cool. You don't see that much. And then I started thinking, maybe we should do that, because we do love the Elvira. While we're doing it, we may as well try to find a blood red kiss. Yeah. Well, you can find them. You're just going to pay for them. We should look for the money to pay for that, because we can get them any time we wanted to. All right. Let's start there. Yeah, right. because there was a lot of news that it's been being bounced around that Big Bang Bar was going to be there from Badretti but now it doesn't sound like it is I don't know I don't care what's there I always have a great time you know just trying it all and playing everything when I can you? yes I never would have guessed that it's true I do what am I at like 325 consecutive days on my Insider Connect nice yeah I am I'm kind of buckling down. I'm going to try for a full year of consecutive days. And I'm pretty far along. You never know what's going to happen, but I'm hopeful it'll work. You're going to get shy-stered is what's going to happen. That's probably what's going to happen. I don't know. My next one is 3.30. That's the next badge that gives you a little badge. It'll happen on the weekend. Yeah, maybe. If we're lucky. If I'm lucky. I'll keep going with it, but we'll see. Yeah. any other pinball news or anything so why what is the story of big bang bar well it was like a it was like a capcom game and it was being made and it was uh i forget the guy's name and there was an Python Anghelo python no i don't know sorry i should have done more research i know i know the story but now i forget the story there was like 10 of them and then there was a fire and then like Capcom got out of the business and then the person that kind of owned those was trying to do a run of them. So there is like 14 of these things made and then it just all went bad. So then it just went away. So now it has this lore surrounding it. And this might not be 100% accurate, folks, but I'm pretty sure I only looked into it one time and that was about 12 years ago, 10 years ago. and I did there is a documentary out there about it because it's like finding this warehouse that like caught on fire where they lost a bunch of them because then someone tried to like fund them and do it again but we've heard that like over and over again we've heard a lot of these somebody trying to revive and do it on a shoestring budget it never works out you know so then now Pedretti Gaming you know ABBA and Queen and all those Predator Alien And I think either they have the rights to it or they're trying to figure out what they can do. It'll be a limited run thing. And they'll get more of them out there. They'll sell. It's an interesting game. It is a fun game from what I remember. But I do remember the second time I spent more time on it, I was like, okay. I wasn't so enamored with it the second time I played it. But maybe the third time I played it, I'll be like, oh, I'm back in love with this. you know, sometimes you just have a bad couple games on a pinball machine. And it's just like, well. So when you hear about these things, like it was also like at that time they were going for like 20 to 30 grand or something like that. And you're like, wait, what? Yeah, you can't do that. So then you see one and you're like, whoa, couldn't I build one for less than that? Like sometimes you look at a machine and they're like, well, that's 20 grand. I was like, couldn't I scratch build one for like nine? Probably not, but maybe. I don't know. You're kind of like, I don't know. Give it a try. It wouldn't be the air quotes official one, but you got one. I don't know. So it's just an interesting back story. So I'm pretty sure we'll see a new run of Big Bang Bar. And they'll sell out immediately. There's a lot of people that really love pinball that really would like that in their lineup. It's the same as a Big Lebowski. Same as, you know, some of these, like, these machines out there, like the Indiana Jones, they'll always command a certain price because they're just sought after. Totans, the Tale of Arabian Nights. So, you know, those always have, like, this street value because people just love them and want them. And Big Bang Bars in that mythical realm were like, well, of course I'd buy one, you know. Yeah. I doubt we would because there's all these other machines buying for our money. Yeah. And, you know. There's a lot. There's also a looming recession buying for our money, so we're going to see how that plays out. You know, we'll see. I'm hopeful that there's a – I can't remember. We played about twice at Freeplay Florida. That's where the Big Bang Bar was both times. It must have been a local – there's a couple real, real, real high-end collectors down in Florida. I think I played it at Dave and Nikki's. Oh, really? I think so. Big Bang Bar. I think so. Possibly. I mean, they're serious. Yeah. They have a serious collection. You know, the people down in Florida, there is some real, real, like, big-time guys down there. You know. So when we would walk into these places and play something, like, we played that Hercules at that one Dunedin. Replay Museum. Replay Museum. You know, people say, I've never seen it. I was like, I played that game, like, 40 times. Yeah. Every time we went there, I played it at least five times. You have to. It's hilarious. It is. I don't hate it like this. That ball is like a... A cue ball. A cue ball. Oh, it is a cue ball, right? Okay. It's not like a cue ball. It is a cue ball. It is a cue ball, yeah. I don't hate it like most people do. I would never buy one because it takes up too much real estate, but I did enjoy playing it. It just this sluggish goofball thing you know whatever you know Those have got to be some powerful flippers because They not That the problem Oh yeah That why it sucks Even to move a cue ball though Yeah Well the guy that does X has that mothership one Oh, yeah. Hopefully. I'm curious to see when they get that going. Maybe there's new ways to make it powerful enough. Like, you know, there may be a little nuclear reactor underneath it or something like that. All right. Enough of this. anything else before we go into uh everyone's favorite segment i don't think so oh we will again just a reminder yes uh we we did put together a uh pack like a prize pack that we are donating to project pinball so if you like the show there will be a pinball junk drawer prize pack in their auction so of course all their auction stuff goes to help fund the 501c that is projectpinball.org yeah so give them lots of money for that sure and then you'll be walking around with the finest threads money can buy. Well, that's not why I... I mean, that's a bonus, but we really just want you to give money to Project Pinball. Well, yeah. You know. And be stylish. Yes. With that new newsy hat and bowler that has our... There's no newsy hat or bowler hat. There's no hat in the prize pack. No, there is not. All right, here's less nonsense, I think. Huh. Craft Brew Sally Gonna have to put your journal down Craft Brew Sally child You've been to all the breweries around You've been running all over the town Tell me what to drink until I fall on the ground That's right, people. And I also forgot we got another email. This is a sticker request from Cody in Iowa. So thanks very much for writing. And if you want one, just shoot us an email with your address. This isn't some kind of weird Ponzi scheme. We'll just send you a sticker. No fuss, no muss. Always happy to get a fan something cool to represent. So what do you have for us this week, Crafter Sally? I just thought today we would talk about our own beer and not other people's beer. Okay. So we are at the stage of getting ready to bottle our beer. Yes. So we are in the last days of taking suggestions for names of beers. Yes. We got some good ones, right? We did. Yeah. We got from Jay Hall, we got Hop Sally Hop. Nice. Very good. Or, How Sally Hopped Over the Moon. Maybe. Hopped. A little long. Hopped. I got you. You know. How Sally Hopped. That's good. Good. Yeah. All right. And then the next one was from Orby, and his was, That's the Way She Gose. Nice. Well, that's kind of if we would do a gose. Yes. We'd have to do that one. That's the way she gose. Nice. And I think our top one right now is Coil Dust. and this comes to us from River City Arcade oh cool shout out to River City Arcade in Danville Virginia so if you are in Virginia you should go there and tell them good idea on that beer and they'll be like what the hell are you talking about they do have a sticker in the arcade they do? oh yeah we mailed it to them so yeah Coil Dust is a good one it is very good I was also Did Skateboarder Glenn send one in? See, we still owe him a clip, I think. We do. He gave us some homework. Yeah, but that was when we were on vacation. So we came back all Star Wars blissed out. Right. And trying to adapt to the crashing reality of work again. I think Glenn made us our Blendwich lager. Which we'll probably drop it on the way out. Yes. Why wouldn't I? So, all right. Well, you know, and I was kind of thinking maybe the first batch we just let unnamed. The batch that shall not be named. And then the next one we would name it. Because, I don't know, but we'll see. So, it is a farmhouse ale. If you have a name suggestion for a farmhouse ale, shoot us a line. Coil Dust was fun. I know. As soon as I heard that, I was like, oh, that's a cool one. That would be like a stout, though, because every time you're working on an old coil, your hands get all dirty and black because it's all burned up and crappy. Oh, yeah. I don't know. We'll see. Yeah, we will see. The mystery still abounds. All right. I think that's going to do it. Do you have anything else? Nope. All right. Next time you hear from us, we will have bottled the beer, and either it will be exploding the bottles in a big mess, or it will be just perfect because... We're hoping it will be just perfect. So far, everything has been right on. Yeah, dead on. Yeah. I've taken a lot of care using that sanitizer stuff that they use. So, we're careful. It's not gross. I don't want gross beer. Right. No one wants that. It's a lot different now than it was when we first started brewing beers. Yes. Because it was like we would put all the stuff on our guest bathroom bathtub. With bleach. Yeah. Just bleach and water. And they're like, well, we do things differently. I was like, well, good. Good. Because that was horrifying. Yeah, it was. It wasn't. I mean, we were very clean. Yeah. This wasn't, you know, bathtub water. No. But it was just weird how we had to do it. Yeah. All right. Enough of this beer talk. Enough of pinball talk. There's never enough beer talk. Or pinball talk. Correct. But thanks for listening. And if you have anything, shoot us an email. Pinballjd at gmail.com. As always, make sure you're hitting up the projectpinball.org. You know, you don't got to tell them you sent us because they'll be like, who? So just hit them up. Maybe buy some raffle tickets. Maybe just give them some money. They like that. Also, River City Arcade in Danville, Virginia. Also, Silver Ball Swag. Get all stylish with our stuff. With a now clickable logo. I'll be glad you did. Nice. Thanks, everyone. We'll see you next time. It's so hot outside. I'm so thirsty. Hey, Parky. Pour me a Blandwich Lager. Come and ride it. A Blandwich Lager? Basically, it's a lager with zero flavor. It's a great alcoholic beverage for those that don't have the palate for beer. Tastes just like a lager should. You mean shouldn't? Exactly. Hey, barkeep, make that two Blandwich Lagers. That's a good choice, mister. Blandwich Lager is enriched with crisp, zero osmosis distilled charcoal filtered water, brewed with notes of white rice and boiled potatoes. This beer is the wettest beer on the market. Blandwich Lager. Tastes like nothing, just like it should Bland Witch Lager is brewed by Foghorn Brewery in America's heartland. That's it, man. Game over, man. Game over.
