What's that sound? It's For Amusement Only, the EM and Bingo Pinball Podcast. Welcome back to For Amusement Only. This is Nicholas Baldridge. I've got to tell you, I'm super excited about this year's York Show. The York Show, it's also known as the White Rose Game Room Show, is October 12th and 13th of 2018. and there are going to be just a tremendous number of really exciting things happening. First of all, I'll just get myself out of the way, I'm bringing the multi-bingo, which now has complete mechanical animations for every game, as well as improved methods for movement. So before you had to push a button multiple times, for example, to move a square twice, for example. Now you can just hold the button down, just like the real thing, and watch it shift to the correct state before letting go. Along with those improvements, there's just a raft of other bug fixes and changes. Things are looking pretty good, so I'm very excited to have the public try it and see what kind of new bugs I've introduced that I haven't been able to find. Aside from the multi-bingo, I'll be bringing Gay Time. And Gay Time is the second of two games with Magic Pockets. The Magic Pockets feature allows you to shift physically the top row of balls back and forth and is usually a very popular game at Bingo Row. Speaking of Bingo Row, there's going to be quite the assortment of games this year as there is every year. Aside from the usual assortment, we have a special guest coming and that guest is bringing something very special indeed. It's Dennis Total and he is bringing a new in-box, Silver Sails. Silver Sails is one of the most desirable Magic Screen bingos and therefore one of the most desirable bingos ever made. Finding one in the box after 1962 has only happened one other time that I'm aware of, and that one was found quite some time ago, before I got into bingo pinball. So, maybe a decade or so. So this is extremely exciting, and Dennis picked this up the other day, and he's going to publicly unbox it at the York Show. So make sure you're there on Friday when Dennis does the unboxing, and we'll do what we can to make an announcement. that said we're going to try to document this unboxing because none of us really know what these games look like as they came out of the box what kind of packing material did Bally use did Bally actually ship the games with dead rubber several other questions like that will be answered when this game is unboxed, hopefully so there's going to be a game in the box sitting there strapped to a pallet I'm super excited about that, cannot wait that is going to be quite the reveal so aside from that I am doing my usual giveaways for Bingo Row anybody who makes four or five in a row gets one of these wonderful prizes and this four or five in a row can be on any machine in bingo row or any game within the multi bingo any one of those will work just fine for my purposes this year I am collaborating with Ryan Claytor again I commissioned him to develop a poster based on the illustration I commissioned from him for the Bingo Row t a couple years back So this year, instead of a t-shirt, there's going to be a beautiful print. And this print is limited in number, and there will not be any more after these are made unless I decide to commission some again later on. But if you have seen Ryan Claytor's work, you know it is exemplary. And aside from his work, these prints, these posters that he makes are phenomenal. I have several of his Pinball at the Zoo prints, as well as one commemorating the 100th episode of the Pinball Podcast. and they're all gorgeous, gorgeous pieces. And I am thrilled to add one about the bingo row to my game room. And I hope you will be too. So please do not miss Bingo Row at the York Show. That is October 12th and 13th, 2018. That's Friday and Saturday. If you're bringing a game, you can bring it Thursday. and set up at that time. But otherwise, the public is welcome to come in on the 12th and 13th. Now, as far as other games that will be there, I have a few which have been confirmed, at least this far out. That's always subject to change, so I'm usually pretty hesitant about talking about which games are going to be there. but suffice it to say there's going to be a couple of surprises and I hope you'll all be very excited to try some of these games at least a few of them you will have never seen before most likely and if you have I want to know about it so that's planned of course things can change so again I hesitate to give you names but many of the usual suspects will be there, and I'm looking forward to seeing everybody at Bingo Row. And please come up, say hello, come play my game, come play any of the games in Bingo Row. If you don't know how to play, don't be shy about asking. I am there all weekend teaching people how to play. It does not bother me one bit to show you how to play the game. And we have many other volunteers at Bingo Row that are more than happy to show anybody how to play the games. They are fun and fascinating devices and just wonderful games. And I am thrilled to be able to share mine with the public, you know, with any of you. So please, come try them. and the other collectors feel exactly the same way. Bingo Row is a very special time because of that. I mean, we all come together, we move these games, set them up, and put them all together for you to try. And there's always a variety. So this is the fourth year we've done it, and each year there's something new and exciting going on. I've had kind of tunnel vision for the past couple years because I've been making the multi-bingo, but I'm always thrilled with what we're able to put together, and I hope you will be too. So as I say, come out, play the games, say hello. If you need help, let us know, and we'll be there playing games, having fun, and getting to meet new bingo pinball enthusiasts. And I'll be giving away posters, and these things, as I said, they're more like prints. They're just gorgeous. So, look forward to that. Now, I've got a special guest here. It Sophia Hi Hey Sophia how are you Good So Sophie and I were just talking On Friday potentially somebody is going to buy ticker tape What do you think of that, Sophie? No. Do you like ticker tape? Yes. so ticker tape is the sixth card it's green primarily what do you like about it? it's green green is your favorite color isn't it? yes so what about the gameplay do you like though? um I like the whole thing the whole thing? yeah You like being able to hit the double or nothing? Yes. Yeah. It's always fun listening to the replays count up, isn't it? Or if you're like me, listening to them count down. But you're pretty good at that game, aren't you? She's nodding. So, did you know that we have a recreation of Ticker Tape? In the multi? No. No, you didn't? No. I tell you guys that all the time. You've forgotten, haven't you? Well, just so you know, if that leaves the building, you'll still be able to play it. Do we have to double up on it? Sure do. We just have to change the playfield in order to play it. You knew that, didn't you? No. I've told you that before. There's 142 different games in there. She's giving me quite the look now. So, any game you can think of, any bingo, you can play in there. How about blagingo? That's not a real one. Bounty, you remember Bounty? with the pirate ship on it? No. And the pirate ship on the side. Yes. The pirate game. Kind of. You were pretty young when we got that. Well, anyway, you can play that too. That game that you don't remember. So, with ticker tape, there's no extra balls. You shoot the five balls, and hopefully you've bought six cards and you put together three, four, or five in a row. So in Ticker Tape, though, there's some extra features. Do you remember what they are? No. Do you remember how sometimes the corners will light? Yes. On one of the cards? And then what's the other one? Do you remember? It starts with a super. Super lines. So on each card, randomly, it can give you corners or super lines or both. That's a good question. I'm glad you asked. She asked, what are super lines? Super lines are when you have three in a row on that one line it scores as four, or four in a row it scores as five pretty exciting, huh? she's waggling her eyebrows is waggle a word? it is waggle so, Sophie with that extra space what do you think we'll be able to do should we get another game ballerina for a that nice of you Well we have Valerina in the multi Okay well then we shouldn get it We should get something that we don't have already. What do you think we should get? Anything we don't have? Oh, there's plenty. Name one that we don't have. Well, There's lots of flipper games And flipperless games Yeah The only bingos that we don't have are Solid state ones, ones that they made Overseas So we have All the bingos that were made here Yep, in the United States Every single one Even some that were never made Well then how do we have them If they were never made Because a back glass has been found or even in some cases a complete game. So it's... I was able to take them and make them. It's pretty cool, isn't it? Are you going to make another one? Yep. I can make brand new games too. You can make your own games? Mm-hmm. If you made your own game, what would you call it? I don't know. But what kind of features do you think I should have if I made a game? You should paint it green, definitely. And you should make it, like, double up. I should make it, like, double up? Yes. You have quite the attachment to that game, don't you? So, do you like the mystic lines in Double Up? Where they flip back and forth and move up and down? Is that the feature that you like? Did you know there's a bunch of other games that have that feature? Double Up is the best. Double Up is pretty great. You know, it's only one of two that lets you change your score in each color. what's the other one it's called Hawaii I like Double Up well we can play that one too doesn't Double Up have horses in it it does, chess pieces so alright, well I think it's called like chess stop that's a good question what does chess have to do with doubling up I'm not really sure Or like Double chest Double chest No, double chest up Double chest up? Like potato tomato Except I don't think that's how that goes It is It's potato tomato Or tomato potato Okay well alright so yeah at some point I'll probably make some new games and I'll be looking for rules, input and so forth can I count on you for some help? yes alright well thanks Sophie for joining me you're welcome and I look forward to playing more pinball with you soon Yay.
