It is minus 20 degrees right now. Feels like minus 26. This guy's in shorts. Made it to the superstore with two minutes to spare. And we all got our Doritos. 30,000 was the goal. It did not tilt. And you managed to pull off 1,010. And one selfie. Great, thanks. This is actually a video. Here we go, Alberta versus Ontario. First goal wins. All right Tavern's being very meticulous He's got a shot here. Oh, it's over. I've always wanted to try this thing. Nobody's around paging Shane Jackson Paging Shane Jackson. Can you please go to the front desk? I'm Mike Dimas and this is pinball shenanigans Congratulations and welcome to the first ever Canadian National Pinball Championship. Give yourselves a hand. Well done guys. Not everyone gets a chance to go to the NACS. This way we were able to take 40 people in this event. We've got 24 women tomorrow. We've got an added tournament with the Canadian Pinmasters. We have the Canadian Open. We made this a whole weekend event. I'm Jeff Hewless. Derek Thompson right there. there this is his Arcadia event my god what a place to kick off the he will be making the ruling on that okay so so that's fair and equitable for everybody other than that welcome to Edmonton it's a big big big deal for us here being able to host the first Canadian Nationals so we appreciate all of you guys and all the travel that you've taken to get here I congratulate you all it's not easy to be representing your province here today so congratulations to you all and I wish you all the best of luck tonight. Good luck everyone and thank you for coming to Edmonton. Everybody's strategically selecting all their picks. Clinton versus Eric. Sean versus Doug. Eden's making picks. You can see the steam coming off his head. Okay, I'm here in Edmonton at Arcadium Retro Arcade. Normally I like to start my video from outside and kind of walk in. But it is like minus 28 degrees or something like that. Celsius right now. And it is not pleasant out there. so I'm gonna start the tour of the action from inside where it's a little warmer so I was here yesterday and we played in a little warm-up tournament before I tour around the reason we're here is for check this out Canadian National Pinball Championships we got eight provinces represented top 48 players in Canada are competing for championships. Here's some flags that were hung up. It's a nice touch. I don't know which is which. I know Quebec and really don't know the rest. How sad is that? But we get these cool towels as well apparently. I think this is a souvenir that everybody's gonna get to take home so let's tour around the bar and arcade and just kind of snoop around here and see what's going on so there are about a hundred and plus players that are going to be participating this weekend it's like five different events so women's there's the open there's championships there is provincial a provincial battle four player in four players in for each province are battling it out then there's pin masters so there's all kinds of pinball going on this weekend and uh this is mostly right now just going to be the the 48 players for the championship so it's not going to be as busy as it will once uh the other tournaments start happening which within about an hour or less uh these are the uh canadian open pump and dump games i was snooping around back here in the party room check this out that's pretty cool so each of the four players for each province or maybe everybody's just signing for everything i don't know a lot of signatures on here but that's a cool poster and uh this is kind of a cool room in general mortal kombat theme finish him which is actually steve ritchie doing the voice call out for that which is pretty cool so anyway get some very canadian uh bubble hockey tables here these games here are set to pre-play for a little bit of practice and then here's some more of the pump and dump games. Rancho, I've never played that. There's 15 games down here. You've got to put up your best 12 scores on the 15 games. And you've got 60 chances to do that. So that's the action on the main floor. And now we're going to go upstairs. we're gonna follow Mario here and Pac-man got Donkey Kong flaming barrels I think that's a princess peach up there oh no that's just Barry Donkey Kong throwing some barrels down the stairs all right here's where the main action and you can see Derek is in the middle of the action right now. So I'm going to try and slip around without getting in anybody's way. Check this out. The winner of the Pin Masters Tournament, Pin Golf, gets this cool green jacket. This is the beginning of the Canadian National Championships. It just started like about 10 minutes ago. So this is the bracket here. Got Shawnee Boy and Doug. They started on Paragon. And they're not there anymore. So that game must be over. Anyway, we got leaderboard stuff. We've got banners. We've got the commentary booth. What's up, boys? Yep, no problem. Let them be undisturbed from people like me. All right, let's tour around. And show you a lay of the land. So it's my first time at Arcadium and it is a pretty sweet venue so I got a little taste of it last night in the warm up tournament. Machado! Got a pretty sweet bar here and they have Diet Coke in cans, my favorite. So two thumbs up for that. Nice hoodie Mr. Brian Morris is wearing over there. So that's sort of this section of the room here. It gets a little tighter over in the other section. and you know some fierce competition and competitors here and I don't really want to get in anybody's way but at the same time I got a walk around and show everything that's going on here here is the shiny boy Doug Parsons battle happening continuing on Godzilla gonna slip through here while I can Show off the action back here. Got the rig on Harlem. Got Mr. Eden. Got John Clinton playing Eric on stream on Harlem. Eden has the trick shot available. Just running out of time though. I got it for $800,000. So a little bit of an arcade section over here. So do we pledge this player? And they have this very cool and rare Gottlieb Challenger head-to-head pinball machine we played last night. A game on it. It's pretty wild. The whole play field tilts back and forth like a teeter-totter. We were trying to figure out what sport it is. Is it baseball? Is it football? But it does say bats. So it could be baseball. Could be cricket. Who knows? A bunch more arcade games here. They're all turned off, obviously, for the tournament. And I'll try and slip through here casually without disturbing what is going on over on Sure Shot right there. So that's basically a lay of the land. So a pretty sweet venue. first ever Canadian Pinball Championships. Pretty cool logo. Pretty cool poster. And pretty happy to be part of it. I do have a buy first round. And like I said, I have to play the winner, unfortunately, of Sean and Doug. So if he does win, shiny that is, one of us boys is going to be eliminated. But that's okay. There's lots more pinball action this weekend. And stay tuned. I'll show some more shenanigans, of course, and see who takes it down. A lot of good players here, obviously. Some of the top players in Canada, most of them really. so it's really uh who knows who's going to take it all down here's the hardware for the weekend let's see what we got here canadian national pinball champion uh i think this is the one where you just get your name affixed to it you don't get to keep this it does have some weight to it but you do get to take this one home and then runner up and stuff we've got the pin masters champion plaque and Canadian open plaque and also there's lots of prizes and lots of cash to be had as well all right check this out I just claimed my souvenirs I got my towel got my poster and see we missed this because we were a little bit late our flight was delayed so I missed all that action but there you go Ontario flag is signed on both of these posters You can see like Phil Birnbaum I can read anybody else signatures but there me Alright Sean and I are live on Die Hard Pinball on Twitch right now playing Wild Card He is up 3-1. This is the one and only game that will possibly be streamed here, so wish me luck. I told you it would get a little busier around here, so back on the main floor. and the Canadian Open tournament is in full swing. So, Shawnee ended up beating me 4-1 in the main event and he is advanced and we just learned that he's going to be playing one of Canadians finest Robert Ganyo in his next... Go Manitoba! Yeah! Dave Brian Morris, big time shenanigan there. Got Shane under the hood of skateball here. He's been working hard this weekend. What's up, Sean? You want to do some dance dance shenanigans? No, not happening. Anyway, that is the action on the main floor right now. Okay, just came back upstairs to check out the action and this is what is going on here. Here is the bracket. I don't know if you can see but we got a cardle, cardle, Carter and Eden playing right now. and Jaron and Jack Tadman and also we have Shawnee boy where did I put the score sheet versus Robert Daniel right now still going on and the score is two to two here's the score sheet I believe check this out Robert, Shiny Boy. Robert got Paragon. Sean got Wild Card. Robert got Demoman. Sean got Hoops. Now they're playing Godzilla. Oh, it's over. Sean was blowing it up. No, that's Guardians. Never mind, sorry. Holy Shinobi. I lied. Sean's up 3-2. And he's got a heck of a score right now. on Godzilla. Check this out. 267. 267 million to 22 million. Oh, I got to turn off my flash. That's annoying. Oops. Alright, it all comes down to this last ball here. If Shiny Boy advances to the next round, which I believe is semifinals, top eight, possibly. Stay tuned. The battle is on right now. We got BC Boys versus the Ontario Boys. It is minus 20 degrees right now. Feels like minus 26. This guy's in shorts. Alright, it is day three of the Canadian Nationals event. Pin Golf has started up here. Women's event has started. and last night our very own Jack Tadman took down the championship trophy. It was an epic battle. Shiny Boy tied for fifth, so that was a good run. So we're just on level one, doing some pump and dump action. we're playing pin golf this is level two a little bit on the later shift so that's the update for now I'm gonna go back down and try and get some more games in all right so the Canadian open pump and dump is going strong just thinned out a little bit because of all the pin golfers upstairs so it's kind of Nice, shorter queues. And there's qualifying all day and night today, all day and night tomorrow. It is limited. We're going to go out for some donairs. You ready to rock and roll? It's not true, Pump and Dump. You can't just play 10,000 games. You're limited to 60. There's about 100 players. I am currently in 13th and I've got 15 games left so I'm gonna save those for later tomorrow maybe anyway I'm gonna go get some food golf time okay so once you hit your target score you do it on the first ball then you get one score. What happens if a leg comes out of the rubber? Good question. Funny I ask. I actually had that happen to me this afternoon. So if a leg comes out of a rubber, you'll get an automatic EQ, which means 10 strokes, no matter what your score was at the time. All right, I just finished my, hey, go BC. There's the other flag, there we go. All right, go BC! Made it to the superstore with two minutes to spare and we all got our Doritos! Okay, it is Saturday, day four of the Canadian National Championships event. And the Canadian Open, a.k.a. Pump and Dump, is going strong. It is somewhere around 1 or 2 p.m. in the afternoon. Like I said before, this is an event in this Pump and Dump here where you only have 60 entries. Hi, Polly. Hi. So I came in today with only 11 entries available to me. Because I had used up most of them. I'm just qualifying up until 11 p.m. tonight and half a day of qualifying tomorrow. So I'm going to run out of entries before I run out of time. But on my last game I just played on the Beatles, I ended up with the second highest score of the tournament so far. and that was my third last entry. I think I have two entries left. So it was very important because I was below the cut line this morning and after a couple games I was able to climb above the line but too close to the line for my comfort. so that game on Beatles put me into 14th place overall so finally I can rest a little bit easy so I shouldn't even really be up here right now because what's up boys passing through coming through because this is the back nine of the pin golf and so this is just half of the participants the other half are technically supposed to stay out of everybody's hair and hang out downstairs but I thought I'd just go for a quick little tour in terms of the pin golf oh I should mention this Tron was my only hole in one and you can see the scores sheets on the machine here this is how it works if you manage to get 15 million on your first ball you get a hole in one and if you suck you can get a maximum of 10 strokes so my good old friend tron did me good so i finished my round of golf last night which by the way was with the cool group It was by alphabetical order. So it was me, Mike, Mike Castleman, Mike Xanikos, and Mikaela Charles Wolf. So it was a good group of people. We had fun. We were coaching each other and trying to give each other tips and lots of fist bumps and high fives. and I ended up with 36, which puts me in the top 24 for now, but we got nine more holes to go this afternoon. So that's what's going on today. I literally have, like, what, two more entries that I can play down here, and then hang out for a couple hours before the back nine of the pin golf action begins. Shawnee Boy is doing good. He just put up a couple scores today. He also only had like 10 entries left, and he's managed to put himself into, I think, 10th place. And I'm 14th, so like I said, lots of qualifying time left, but limited entries. so once I'm done these last couple games I'll just watch myself bleed and hopefully not bleed out completely oh and I'm trying to remember who won the the funsy provincial battle last night we kind of left and didn't really see much of it like I said before it was the top four players in each province and they had this fun little competition. Here's the flags again. Actually, I think it was Saskatchewan that won last night. So congrats to Saskatchewan for winning the provincial battle. And I think that's about all the updates for now. Women's event, I think, finished. Do we know who won the women's event? Emily? Oh, yeah. That's right. Emily won. She also got second in the warm-up tournament and fourth in the overall Canadian Nationals. And now won the women's event. She is on fire. That is some BC action right there. Alright, I've got to figure out where I'm going to spend my last couple entries. So, we'll see what happens. Okay, you said you had a photo you wanted to show me because you had an interesting game of pro football. Can I see that photo? I will show you that photo. I would love to see that photo. This is completely legitimate. And or some bunny photos. We will, but I'll tell you something. This was the part where whatever was 30,000. 30,000 was the goal. Yeah. And this here, as you can see, was me. I did not tilt. I did not tilt. And you played all five balls? I played all five balls. You know draining at the outlanes will give you 5,000 points. And you managed to pull off 1,010. That is amazing. That's a world record. I literally thought that they have tens on these as like, well, just in case it happens. Right? Like no one gets tens. Give this guy another Guinness record. Okay. Okay, just for scientific purposes, we have to go over to our game here, pro football, and just plunge a couple balls. This is just for science, just for science. Sneaking this in is potentially... We're not really allowed to do this, but it needs to be done. We need to see if Eden can just plunge a ball not even flip and beat his score Come on baby 820 820 Oh OK Didn't quite do it. Didn't quite do it. Here we go. Oh, 840. Like we're on pace. This is what pretty much you did in your game. Oh, my god, Lazarus. If we can score lower than a thousand ten. The clock didn't even give the hundred. Oh, you get a mulligan. Yeah. Here we go. Oh, you beat it. It took four balls, though, surprisingly. So I would have got a what? No, nothing. Nothing. Still nothing. Yeah. Hey, there you go. So just plunging the ball got you a better score. Nine strokes. Nine strokes. All right, we got a challenge going on right now Between shiny boy and mr. Brian Morris on challenger pretty rare Gottlieb game here and Let's try and get the best It's inside the coin door best view here. Oh you got to stick your Stick your finger. No right here the little start button. Ed Boon. There we go pretty rare unique pinball machine here it's like eight feet long it moves back and forth so right now only yellow is scoring okay now if you can Oh shiny boy just got a goal. And so if you score on Sean, then the table will tilt towards you and then you can start scoring points. So let's see who's got the skills. So you got a couple flippers down here. You got these little two inch flippers in the middle. Oh, look at that. Here the tables have turned, literally. All right, here we go. Oh. Oh! Wait, it came. Oh! Oh! I'd say Sean is definitely the winner. What's better than regular Challenger? Four-player split flipper challenger. Yeah. We got this. Next goal wins. Come on now. Holly and Shawnee versus Ick and Brian Morris. Here it is. It is slightly advantageous for us that the table is tilted in their direction when we say next goal wins. Max Gold wins. Yeah. Ed Boon. I missed everything. Nitro's giving away $10,000 worth of pinnacles. All right. $10,000 prize right here. Okay. Cool Stern topper is happening right now. Here it comes. Stern, not topper, but Stern sign is up for grabs. Come on. Mike Dimas. Let's go. Ryan. Ryan. Gotta be here to win, gotta be here to win! Yeah, gotta be here to claim your prize! Redraw? Redraw! Look at this, look at this, look at this, we just found this white bunny hopping around outside. Don't send it to Eden, he'll wanna like... Eden will wanna take him home. Hey bunny, say hi to Eden! Pss pss pss pss pss. What a cutie. Is that a carrot? Oh, oh, I hear that, he heard that. It is day five of the Canadian Nationals and the final game is happening right now. Check this out. Action is intense This is the last game on Foley Bonus ball Bonus ball Okay, here's the stats. Carter has nine. Tealess has nine. Mike Castleman just finished with ten, so he's not in the mix for the green jacket. Derek has a six, so if he gets this in two holes or three, he'll be the winner. All right. Help me! So ball four puts Derek out of ten, puts him out of the mix, which means Carter and Teal are going to a tie break. Carter picks Iron Maiden. I think you might look good in a green jacket. I even have the shoes tonight. Oh, yeah, you're ready to go. He's ready to go. Good luck, brother. I think you'll also look good in a green jacket. But Carter has green shoes, so he's got an advantage on you. He's got a matching attire. Good luck, Jeff. We're the best. Ontario me. There we go. Go, Ontario. This is ball two. Target score is... what's target score again? 40. Okay. Target score is 40 million. Whoever gets there in the least amount of balls will win this. The green jacket. Who's going to take it home? Carter starts his first mode. Flight of Icarus. Nice hoodie there, Mr. Dave Brian Morris. Since Carter is player two, if he gets the target score here, he will win. 25 million to go. 20 million to go. Still four balls in play. Down to three. Down to two. Down to one. Didn't close the door right up there on that multiball. Thought he might have. Mode's going to time out here, which is fine. I'll probably start working on the second mode and then that could be game over. Time for some white arrows to spell Eddie. Three more arrows to go. Oh, he doesn't quite get there. 31 mil plus some bonus. If Tildes makes the target score here, then that forces Carter to get the last 8 million he needs. Tildes starting at 8.5 million here. How much progress on that ball? Sounds like Carter's going to try and backhand the center ramp, which is definitely doable. Machine's pretty steep, so it is tough to get it up that center ramp, But the backhand is doable. Whoa. Quick drain there. Alright. Teal this. Starting with 9 million. Looks like he got his mummy multiball pretty much primed. Maybe two hits to go. Alright, zoom in on the action. I know it's not great footage, but it's what we get right now. Struggling with that center ramp. It's got to be clean. He'll get it here. Ed Boon. Goes for the mummy hit. Got the Y left on mummy. Nails it. And mummy's ready. trying to upper flipper shot here this will do it oh trying to get a control didn't go for the one time on the mummy still under control or out of control there he goes back handed a captive ball right here oh no he wants to start his mode first oh what a wonderful save that was that was amazing Oh my god. It is over, boys and girls. Carter Castleman gets the green jacket Green jacket It going to Ottawa Congrats, brother. Nice job, dude. Are you recording? Yes, I am. Hello, shenanigans. Yeah. I'm Carter Castleman, and this is pinball. Thank you. That was intense, eh? Oh my God. The drama. The highs, the lows. Here we go. Presentation time. Damn you. Should have picked Ick. Always go with Ick. I mean, I should have just started Mummy, but I think I would have. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I was wondering why you weren't hitting the Mummy alone. Gets you nothing. No. I had a wonderful save there at the end, too. The delayed tilt there was... Yeah, once I did the half loop, I was screwed. That was a lot of good stuff. All right. The fourth place, Mike Kasseman. Third place, Jare Compton. In second place, Jeff Teolis. And in first place, Carter Scuttles. Oh my gosh! We got an extra larger. We got an extra larger. There it is. I told you it would look good in green. Yeah, to match the shoes and everything. Really good. And one selfie. This is actually a video. I can clip it. I can clip it. Okay, now that the Pin Masters is over, it is time to start the playoffs for the Canadian Open. Top 24 out of 100 players made it in, including myself and Shinyboy. I think he was 18 and I was around 21st. So that action is going to begin shortly. so wish us luck. For the B finals, congratulations to our B finals. Think about it, right? There were 103 people. We didn't turn down anyone for the Canadian Open. We had limitations for pinball, pin-off. Everyone who won the play got the pin open. It added to the prize pool, added to the Whoppers, and the, let's see the standings here. For the B, from BC, where's Matt Frank? Come on, Matt Frank. In third, and he's the guy who signed the plate, where's Tim Phillips? Tim Phillips. Tim, are you from Elmwood? Tim, are you from Elmwood? No, he's BC. BC. Well, I'm a second. All right, there we go. also from BC and they sponsored Rancho. We're going to change it to Neon Rancho. Neon Rancho to both Carrie Hill and his second piece of hardware today because he was second in bees. One better this time. The bee champion. A lot of bees in his name from Ontario. Barry Bedard. Just so you know, he's got some Alberta family that live here too, so an honor to Albert as well. Congratulations to our final four. Let's see if these shenaniganders can get these flags off the wall and bring them to Yagpin. Shane Jackson here to prove that white men can jump. And Carter. and oh no 3-1 for Shane versus Carter half of Ontario yeah alright where's Saskatchewan at who's going to be the last man standing Quebec's being stubborn Ontario might be the winner come on Ontario Quebec's putting up a good fight down to the wire Quebec versus Ontario alright I think the game's over here we go Alberta versus Ontario this is a battle for all the marbles here first goal wins all right tadman's being very meticulous he's got a shot here oh it's over just like that all right the canadian open is officially over yours truly got probably 16th place i can live with that and uh the award ceremony is going to happen shortly so i will catch that and fill y'all in on the results. It's like a 30 second delay from what we see here to what is actually being recorded. So just trying to get situated here. But here we go. Here we go. Can they hear me at all? Is there any mics on there? I'll go close so you can hear me. What? He's gonna. Oh shit. All right. Here we go. All right, everybody. You can hear me now. Good. Yeah. Ladies and gentlemen, this wraps up the Canadian National Pinball Championship weekend here at Arcadium in Sherwood Park, Edmonton, Alberta. Home of the Yagpin coming up this May. I've always wanted to try this thing. and nobody's around. Now's my chance. How does this work? Paging. Paging Shane Jackson. Paging Shane Jackson. Can you please go to the front desk? Ha ha ha. Oh, siren. Where's the siren mode? Here we go. Siren mode. I'll back up. Let's blast it at Sean. Oh my god! Ah! I didn't realize it was going to be that loud. Oh my god. Okay. Hey, maybe that'll get Jeff to get his butt down here and we can get out of here. So Teolis borrowed our room to put his bags in before heading out to the airport. and when we got to our room we found some used Kleenexes on our beds. Practical joker that Tealus is. And so he just got to the airport and called us and said that he forgot one of his bags in our room. So now we've got to drive to the airport and bring him his bag but I'm going to leave him a little surprise for when he opens it up. A little bit of used tissue paper. So enjoy teolas Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
