Uh, we like need a career or something? Yeah. Help us get out of school. You fellas think you've got what it takes for security work? Do we get to kick some ass? Yeah. Do we get tasers and tear gas? Hell no. I work at the mall. Video surveillance. Basically, they pay me to watch TV all day. Whoa. Cool. Yeah, yeah. Hey, buddy, we can do that. Yeah. Those are going to be cool. Coming to you from beautiful upstate New York, this is the Slam Tilt Podcast, a show about all things pinball. I'm your host, Ron Hallett, here with my co-host, Bruce Nightingale. We're back. Just the two of us. Just the two of us. You and I. Name the artist. Couldn't tell you the same way in my life. That's Bill Withers for those out there. He also did Lean on Me and There Ain't No Sunshine. Ain't no sunshine when she's gone. Ain't no pinball. There you go. I like that. And welcome to episode 47, 12 Chairs. Now people are probably going, what the hell are they talking about? Yeah, like I've never seen that. So this is Mel Brooks' second movie. What's this one all about? 1920 Russia, where an old lady sewed their family jewelry to hide it from everyone, but they sold the furniture off. And so now people are searching the whole countryside looking for the one chair that has the jewels in it. But, of course, there's 12 chairs in the whole set because they're a big family. And, of course, Dom DeLuise is in it. He's the orthodox minister who she told on her deathbed, and now the son's trying to find it, and the brother's trying to find it. It's a good, fun little comedy. I saw it this weekend. I smirked a lot. I laughed a lot. Don DeLuise is always good. Yes, he is. Always a fan. And he's skinny. He's skinny. He's skinnier than a rail almost in this thing. So how have you been, Ron? I've been okay. I've been okay, man. It was some long, consecutive, really long podcast. Hopefully we can keep this one short, right? Yeah, okay. Our fans want more from us. More! More! More! We did get a couple of answers. Got answers. We got answers. And they were right. And they were right. Some were wrong. Some were right. But one was interesting. Yes. What was the question? The question was, which episode started with the Oh My My song? And somebody answered, a previous episode. Yeah. Fail. Fail. Although I do appreciate the humor. Yes, I did too. We've got a couple of people who did that. We have a couple of people who put in their resume for the episode 50 guest slot. So hopefully we'll get a couple more. We can always use more. More. More. More. More is better. If you've been on this show, you want to be on for the 50th and be the headliner. Headliner. Your actual name will be the title. You will be on the marquee. The episode will be named after you. And we're doing this because we want to thank you guys because you guys have been very supportive with us. Our numbers show it. We're very happy. That's why we're giving away the helper from my side. Ron does a ton of work on the back side doing – oh, my. Oh, that came out wrong. No, it didn't. Since we're in this part, let's get it out of the way right up front. What is today's question? And if I was a good editor, I'd have a cool music cue. The question of the week. This is our second question, and this is an easy one. Almost everyone should be able to write this in. Oh, okay. Name three guests we have had on the Slam Tilt podcast. Okay, Bruce Nightingale, Ron Hallett, and... Yes, we are hosts. Oh, so I already failed. Failed? You got the question wrong. So again, that is name three guests we have had on the Slam Tilt Podcast. And you can't just name one who's been on multiple times and have that count as three. Yeah, not saying blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, we're going to try to get the funny answers out of the way. Three different people who have been on the show. Yes. And if they get the answer right, they're entered into the sweepstakes for the pinball helper. And we don't mind if they're first names also, because there is one guest we've had on that is only a first name. That is true. That is true. We will take first names. Good luck, everyone. Lots of news. Lots of news. So let's go to the news of the week. News of the week. And Stern Factory is really busy. Very busy. They let out a video today. They're building. Here's what's on the line right now. They showed they showed ACDC's Metallica's Star Wars Pro Aerosmith. They had a kiss there. Actually, there was a kiss on the line. What else did they show? What else is new that they've put out? Metallica. The only thing I noticed with the video is that all the Star Wars that are built are waiting for one part, it looks like. It says, like some of the sheets you see in the video, it says, like, waiting, missing this, missing this. And what I've noticed is missing is the Death Star. And everyone. Missing the Death Star. Yes. And this pro would just be the solid ball. Yeah, just a static toy. Okay. So it seems weird, but at least they're building them. Yeah. So that's a good thing, and they're keeping the line busy. The video was like 22 minutes long today, so nice showing of what they're trying to keep the factory busy and what's new and showing the detail. The only thing I didn't like, actually, it kind of looked kind of cheesy, was the side art was not as crisp as I was expecting it in the decals. Because decals should have a higher dots per inch DPS. And they're not. if you look at the play field, what he's using his camera with, it looked better than the artwork on the sides. All right. Well, I mean, we all know it's the worst game ever, according to Penn side. So it clearly, Oh yeah. Yeah. I mean, I listened to Penn side entirely. I based my, all my opinions, all my game purchases are based on Penn side. Yeah. Mine aren't. See, what else do we got? Shipping games to customers. Jersey Jack is yes. They're shipping the pros to operators for location pinball action. One was an LE also. Okay. Who got that one? I don't know, but in the picture we posted on our Slam Tilt podcast Facebook page, the LE was actually in the box, and it actually was dated and everything, and it went to the U.S. somewhere. So someone's got an LE. Hmm. Did it go to you, Bruce? No. No? Okay. Not yet. Not yet. but I'll definitely be before Ron I can see that happening I totally agree with that just because you did it at a show and it's later you will get it earlier because that's fair it's totally fair bullshit we have to report a passing of we'll say a fellow pinhead now because he was a pinhead for a little bit Mr. Adam West passed away this past week the original Batman was 88 and died of leukemia, unfortunately. A short bout with leukemia. He was just at... He was at Expo. I think I just missed him. He was out looking at the games that you couldn't play. Yes. That were on display. I believe he was there. He was doing the autograph thing. Yes, he was. For the people who bought the Super LE or whatever it was. Suckers! So, So, yep, goodbye, Batman. Goodbye, Batman. We all grew up with him, so he was an iconic player. And plus, goodbye, Mayor West. There was more. I mean, he's Batman. He's Mayor West. He was in a Three Stooges movie. He was in a movie that was Lampoon and Mystery Science Theater. And he hosted one of the Mystery Science Theater Turkey Day Marathons. I mean, he's literally done it all. the highest level of coolness. And he could have been James Bond. I know he could have been. He could have been. But he said he wanted Roger Moore to have it. Adam West is James Bond. I'm West. Adam West. And he was born in Walla Walla, Washington. That's awesome. That is kind of cool. That's awesome. He was on Scooby-Doo and the Beach Beastie. Oh, he was on Scooby-Doo? Awesome. Oh, man. Yeah. He's reaching Robert Stack levels of coolness. Sponge Bob Squarepants. Young Mermaid Man. Remember that? He was on that. He was also on Batman the TV series, the newest one, the cartoon. Well, the movie. They did the movie that actually got rave reviews. I haven't watched it yet, but supposedly it was pretty funny from what I heard. The Secret Files of Spy Dogs. Animaniacs he was on. as Bruce Wayne. And, we'll leave one Adam West story. I guess, I read this on Facebook somewhere. Where he lived, the local phone book, he had, if you looked up Adam West, it would say, see Bruce Wayne. And if you looked up Bruce Wayne, it would say, see Batman. And if you looked up Batman, it would say, See Adam West? Yikes. I thought that was pretty funny. He was on Alice. He was on Shazam. Wait, what's Shazam? Remember the TV show Shazam? Shazam? I thought that had Shaq in it. No, no, no, no, no, no. It was 1976. Oh, okay. Yeah, Shaq probably wasn't in that. No. No. So goodbye, Mr. West. You will be missed. I wonder what they're going to do on Family Guy now. I don't know. Maybe he finally gets impeached. Yeah, I could see that. I was actually surprised when I saw him getting his star that, what's his name, was there also? Peter. Peter Griffith was there? Yes, who does the voice for Peter. The guy who does the show? Yes. Yeah, him. Seth MacFarlane. Seth MacFarlane, there you go. Couldn't think of it for a few seconds. There you go. There you go. Hi, Peter. Hi, Bruce. How could you possibly forget my name? You suck. I do. Oh! Oh, oh. Giggity. So, yeah, so that was a sad, sad day. So let's try to spruce it up, man. Get the show off the downer. I'm feeling down now. I know. We had Steven Bowden was on one of our Friends of the Show podcasts. Pinball Profile. He was on there for the – so he is the first returning guest. For Pinball Profile, hosted by Jeff Teolis. Hi, Jeff. Hi, Jeff. And he plugged us very nicely during that whole spiel. Yes, he did. What did they talk about? They talked about the Upstate Championships, which we are doing this year, to answer Steve's question. I have not updated the standings lately, so that is a fail on my side. Fail. Fail. But we'll update them in a couple weeks. And we are doing also with Stomp. What's this Stomp you speak of? We are having a match play tournament hosted by Ron Hallett, co-hosted by Bruce Nightingale. At the Level Zero Arcade in beautiful Castleton, New York. Yep, with a great tournament director. Who is this great tournament director? Mr. Tim Balls. Tim Balls, Tim Sexton. And he will be hosting and doing our tournament directing. And we have our guest now. Our guest finally arrived this week. He arrived. I posted it to the Slam Tilt page. George Takei has arrived. Yep. He looks great. He looks great. He's at the Level Zero Arcade. His bobblehead has also arrived. Ooh. Very nice. Yeah he got the bobblehead with the shirt off with the sword Excellent Oh my Oh yes Is that one of the giveaways Is that one of the prizes That one of the first places Oh no I keeping that sucker Come on You better win it You better win it. How do you win? Is that going to be the trophy? Yes, I think it should be. All right. Okay. I'm trying to get more. There's actually a couple of characters of Bobbleheads, and there's one of him in the yellow Star Trek suit, and there's also one of him, another one. So I'm trying to get them all. You know what? Yeah, I guess in addition to the cash, that would be a pretty cool little – you win the George Takei bobblehead. Yes, see? I didn't even think of that. I was just going to keep it for myself, being selfish and all. Fail. I'm sorry. Fail, fail, fail. Sorry. But it was good to see Earring Steve on there again and with Jeff. Very good show that was. Jeff does a great job. Now, they talked about also something else, very little, but we have no details on it yet, is the Stern Pro Circuit. Yeah, on the IFPA website, they just made just a very vague announcement. Stern Pro Circuit. Like, let me just leave this here. There you go. Like Pro Bowling Tour? Yeah, I don't know. Is there going to be sponsors of Pro Circuit? What does that mean? So more to follow, I guess. Yeah, I guess so. But it was neat to see that. Yeah, I mean, I'll be ready to leave my job for the pro circuit, no doubt. Yeah. Yeah. Now, we forgot to talk about something last week. Where I failed. You failed. Which I failed. And Ron did not fail. And Tim did not fail. Nope. But Steve Bound failed. But Steve Bound failed. Yeah. And that is the 24-hour Sanctum Tournament. Selling out in two minutes. Yeah. 100 people. Yep, 100 people in two minutes. I went back to work to have access to the three Internet pipes that are there. And the funny thing is, right as it's hitting, I had a co-worker that was still there doing maintenance, and he starts trying to talk to me. And I literally am just like, put the hand up, stop, you know, stop, wave off, give me a second. I knew it was like I got in there almost immediately, and it said like 30 tickets left or something. when it came like holy shit i didn't make it i'm number 33 on the hold line which from what at least the sanctum guys were saying you should be able to get in yeah i doubt that oh so bruce is going to take the negative attitude nothing to see here people okay okay move along move along move along fail move along if you don't want to be in it just cancel out now cancel out now so bruce can get in please yes please you're not going to make it stuff's going to happen Yes. So just cancel now. Yes, exactly. I already scratched it off my list of things to do. Yep. There was three tournaments this whole weekend. Big ones. Big national tournaments, including two Papa Circuit events. Wow. And what were they? Did we even mention these last week? No, we did not. I think we mentioned one of them, but maybe not all of them. Yeah, we did because of Steve going down. Well, and Raymond. Raymond made sure we mentioned the other one. Yes. So the one was in Atlanta. That was a Southern Fried Game Room, which was Pinvasion. Pinvasion. And the newest, hottest guy on the tournament scene, Eric Stone, took that one. Very nice. For the winner of the IFPA Papa Circuit event in the West, it was, who was it? Dino. Dino. I don't know his name fully. I can't find it right now, so fail on my part. But a friend of the show, Ed Zellman, finished second. Congratulations, Ed. Good job, Ed. Wow, he went way out to Colorado just to play? He did. And the winner of the Northwest Pinball Tournament, Robert Gagnon. Do I remember correctly what you said? Well, he won pin golf. I don't know if that was the main tournament. I don't know either. So we are really, really informed here, folks. But there were three big tournaments, lots of pinball to be had, lots of new pinball machines to be seen. Dialed In was at, I think, all three shows. So if you didn't get a chance to play it, Houdini, I think, was at, I think it was in Denver, I think they had it. And Total Nuclear Annihilation was at Pinvasion. Pinvasion, which looked incredible. Which Steven Bowden went nuts over it. He did. I think he might be purchasing one, man. I think he might. I was very happy. The videos look good. It's good. I mean, I played it. I'm sorry. Wow. Wow. We had a late recording time last time. You didn't yawn once. You're yawning immediately. Yeah, I know, because it's actually warm in my room tonight. Well, turn on the air conditioning. There is no AC in this room. There's no AC in this room. No. So, repairs, Mr. Ron. Oh, repairs. Repairs. Repairs. Fun. Fun. Fun. Would you like to go first or would you like me to go first? Big game. Big game. It is the biggest game out there. The first with seven-digit displays. It is the first with seven-digit displays. The first Stern Winebody. Yes. Oh, my. Harry Williams masterpiece. Yes. We both own it. We both own it. Mine doesn't give you a shock, though. Don't worry about it. So I had fun with a sheared-off post, just like you did with the Quicksilver. Yes. Which I think I said before that it had a bolt head on the other end. I was incorrect. I was looking at something else. It sheared off the exact same way yours did. It just sheared off in the play field. And boy, that was fun getting out. That was an absolute blast. I had to drill from underneath. At least I managed to find, because it actually protruded slightly out of the play field on the other end, the screw, like, just barely, so I knew exactly where it was. So I was able to drill around it just on one side so I could get it loose, so I didn't have to take up that much material, take out that much material. Yes. And I got it out, and I replaced it with a newer mini post that's a machine screw, I just drilled all the way through the play field, put it in that way with a nut on the other end. So that's going nowhere. That's never breaking off. So once I did that, still it was like an hour of play testing. Switch doesn't work. I've got to adjust it. Then the out-hole switch wasn't working. Then the right slingshot's machine gunning. Then the pop bumper's too sensitive. Then it's not sensitive enough and all that fun. but through all this the big game all of a sudden decided to start cooperating, it now boots every time I don't know why I have no idea what happened but it just started booting at least 30 straight times now it's booted without an issue so I don't get what's going on I bet you if I put the other power board back in the other driver board, I bet you it boots fine so I have no idea what the deal is with that it plays nasty Oh, boy. Oh, it's ready to stomp on people. Wow. If you will. Yeah. I forgot how fast that thing plays. It's faster than mine, then, you're saying. I only got to play yours once because I didn't want to, you know, get injured. God. You pussy, take the electricity. I know. Come on. It's amazing. Were you touching, were you unpurposely touching two games at once? No. Then you touching one game does not kill you or shock you. It does shock me. I was getting a tingle from that game, only because I did not have my sneakers on like I usually do. Sneakers on. That's why. Yeah. So that was a pain in the ass, but it's up now. I had to make the out-hole kicker, after cleaning everything, it was actually too powerful. It was kicking the ball so hard it was hitting the – the shooter lane protector, you know the one they used to put in all games that they don't anymore and you've got to buy it as an add-on? Yeah. You know that part? It hits it and bounces back in the trough. Sometimes it bounces like halfway back in and gets stuck, and you've got to like tilt the game over to get it out. So I did a simple fix there. I just cut the spring in half to make it half the size so it's much stiffer. Oh, my. Oh, the arm is stiffer, so now it doesn't kick quite as hard, and I don't have the problem now. Stiffer. Stiffer. Oh. Oh. Wow. Hopefully our listeners couldn't hear that sound effect. So I did that. It was a busy day. I did that. And then, okay, I know we have Tim Rants. We're going to have a Ron Rant. Oh, boy. Here's a Ron Rant. It's forced stop. I got a 43-inch LCD TV. Okay. Is it 1080p? Is it? Oh, yeah. It's a high-def screen. And I got one. I've wanted to get one for the gamer for a while. Bruce always had one for the tournament so you could look at the screen. And, you know, if you didn't have a smartphone, you want to know who you're playing or that kind of stuff, you could look at the screen. So I wanted something like that for Stomp. But I got it. It's like a refurb. Got it off of, you know, Amazon. It's a Samsung, though. It's not like it's a no-name brand. So I get this thing, right? First thing I do, I plug my phone into it, my iPhone. So, HDMI, plug it in, and it doesn't work. Like, it knows there's something to plug in, but it won't display anything. Like, really? Are you kidding me? So, since it's Wi-Fi, could you maybe hook up to it and do it the other way? No, it's a Samsung. So, yeah, if I had a Droid, it would work great. Thank God. Yeah. My LGs hook up fine to my TV. I can pass my to it. Yeah. So, I get my old DVD player, which has HDMI out. plug that into it works fine it's like okay so it's another apple like it doesn't like the adapter because there's a lightning to hdmi adapter you use and it just it was not working of course the phone works fine on my my other tv upstairs just switch it out just switch what half the tv yeah that's all just switch the 43 inch tv for the 56 inch one i have in my living room finally no no So I had to fuck with this thing for like an hour and a half. Ended up getting a firmware upgrade. Had to get into the service menu to do a full factory reset, power down. After all that shit, it finally worked. Here's the rant. I work in IT. As part of working in IT, you work with a lot of different systems. And you have to do research to make sure certain things are compatible. You're in IT, okay. consumer electronics, you should not have to do this. You shouldn't, for example, 20 years ago, if you got a DVD player, you weren't going to get the thing and say, gee, I hope this can play all the commercially released DVDs I'm going to purchase. I hope I don't have any issues. You didn't say that. It just worked, for the most part. If you were burning DVDs, you might have issues. but if you're going to buy a commercially made DVD, it was going to work on a main brand DVD player. We've gotten to the point now with consumer electronics where it's almost like you have to research everything to make sure stuff's going to work, which is fucking ridiculous. It's stupid. Oh, I wish I did the rant. I wish I recorded it when this was happening because I was so utterly pissed. Like, why do I have to do this? Why do I have to fuck with this for an hour and a half to get this to work? Because it's Samsung. I don't care. It's a consumer product. It's like, oh, well, it's an iPhone thing, Ron. It's like, yeah, it's a fucking iPhone. How many of those are there? There's, it's half. Yeah, yeah, no, come on. This shit should just fucking work, period. Rant off. I will move on now. Wow. Wow. You used to have such much anger this week. Very, very much that day. I'm so mellow today. And just, well, you know, what the fuck? Maybe we do, like, a little Freaky Friday here? No. Oh, that's the one where they switch. Yes. That would be funny. Bruce and Ron switch. Oh, that would be interesting. Oh, you would hate my job. So let's see. What else do we got here? I even wrote. Big Game Works. Big Game Works. He's ready. What else did you repair downstairs? Nothing yet. I have several things to do for Stomp relating to displays It the simple re the displays deal I got to do one on stars The credit unit on Harlem is starting to get flaky I've got to do that one. Player three on nine ball has to be done. So I've got to get some score displays fixed. Because, you know, it's match play, and there's going to be all foursomes. So we've got to have all these displays working. Oh, my. Oh, my. I've got gaffer's tape on the way. so we can just tape all those interlock switches up. Yep. Also going to be disabling, getting rid of all the slam tilts, which is kind of funny being this is the slam tilt podcast. Yes, it is. We don't want any slam tilts occurring during the tournament, so I'll be doing that. I just got a lot of work ahead. And I'm going to bring you another turd soon. Turd? But we'll get to that in a few minutes. So is that all your repairs that you've done? That's it. That's all I got. well quicksilver we had a broken stud unfortunately this is the threaded in style that we talked about last week which is recessed on the top and on the bottom you couldn't pull out without grinding away some wood so i got the old dremel out ground enough down to i can see the screw i tried to grab with some needle nose pliers wouldn't move so i'm like hmm let me just grind a little bit more down and a little bit more down so that I can finally see I can actually grab around all this the whole screw head which was actually the tip of the threaded that was the post couldn't move it at all okay you got to be a prick now okay I'm gonna go be a prick too I started grinding the actual screw to make a slot in it a flat blade slot made a nice thick one got the the narrowest flat blade screwdriver I had and spun that blank out and put the new one in, sent Ron a picture of it a couple days ago and we now have a post protecting the right hand spinner. Yeah, but you put the same type of post in. It's just going to shear off like the other one. It'll probably be 20 years before it shears off. Exactly. It's a little longer. Plus I also did the I also did the wood putty underneath the cover back the hole, and I sent Ron a picture of that. That was pretty impressive, wasn't it? You're a putty man. I am a putty man. Putty man. Put all the new LEDs. Took out all the LEDs that were at it. Regular bulbs. You had me going there. You almost said put in LEDs. I was going to like, what? Well, actually, there are still three LEDs in it. Yeah, the pop-up. You got it. Yeah. But everything else is non-LED now. All the light sockets are now working. Tomorrow is switch day. You can also put LEDs in the coin door. No. Why not? It doesn't make any difference. You can't tell. I don't like the look of them. You don't like the look? They look the same. Too bright. They are. Okay. We have all the light sockets working, including the backbox light ones. Switches are tomorrow. We've got to get the spinners working properly because the spinner, one spinner, does not like to go back to its normal default up and vertical position. that likes to go flat. So if you're looking at a clock, it likes to go 3 to 9 instead of 12 to 6. Hmm, okay. What else did we do? Me and Zach played a lot of pinball when he was over here last week, and we'll probably do it again tomorrow. I suck at pinball because I couldn't... My Spider-Man's very rough, but you can actually beat it once in a while. It took me 30 games to get over 100 million. Yeah, the glasses are not working anymore, Bruce. No, I actually think out why the glasses are not working. They do magnify a little bit, so my geometry is off a little bit. So I got to get used to it more. I got to play more. Oh, why the hell the stern? Okay, the pop bumper, old sterns, the pop bumper was metal, like all the other pop bumper rings. The rings, yes, they were metal. But then stern went to plastic. Yes, they did. And unfortunately, one's broken on. Which, hey, Scott, friend of the show, Scott, you told me they never break. I got one, and I even have the picture to prove it. Yes, they break. Bruce needs a plastic one. Or replace them all to metal. No, don't do that. They originally were plastic. So then if you're going to, well, the thing is, if you're going to send this one, Scott, send it to Ron. The reason why is Quicksilver is going to Ron this week. Oh, it is? It is. Wow. It's going to be delivered by Air Pigeon Zach. Air Pigeon Zach. We're going to drop off two games, one in Syracuse and one going to go all the way out to Albany. Ron and Zach will hook up. Oh, my. And we'll get that Quicksilver out to them. Hopefully, I get the back glass done also. I'm waiting for my delivery for it, my ring, my trim. Oh, my. Let's try that again. He's waiting for his lift channel. No, trim. Oh, trim. So you already have the lift channel. No, no, the back glass trim. I'm waiting for the trim. Come on. Yes, the trim. Yes, I'm waiting for the back glass trim. Does it have the top part? Did that survive or no? Yes, it does have that. It does? Wow. For those who don't know, on a classic sterns, they have like the top part of the back glass. The actual trim is what locks it in place. It's a piece of metal. I actually have it still for the big game, and I have it for the, what's it called, my nine ball, but I do not have it for my stars. Stars doesn't have it. Okay, so then I'm good. Stars locks like the other companies. I don't have it for stargazer. Yeah. So when you say you're getting the trim, do you mean the left and right side? No, bottom. I still have the left and right sides, the original ones. Well, that's not trim. That's the lift channel. No, that's trim. Oh, it's not. I love trim. Oh, this is going to be another one of those arguments. Okay, folks, you can write in slamtiltpodcast at gmail.com and just clue Bruce in that the bottom part is the lift channel. Trim. The trim is the other part on the side and the top. Wait a sec. Now, would trim be considered beautiful or ugly? What? Is trim considered beautiful or ugly? It's considered trim. What would be bad? Would that trim be beautiful or ugly? Or is it in the eye of the holder? I have no idea where you're going, dude. Well, go with it. Come on, go with it. Go with it. If you saw a rusted piece of trim on a back glass, what would you think? Would you want to change that trim? I'd be confused because the trim is plastic. Not all. Okay, what ones aren't? The top metal ones on the sterns are not. The bottom ones on the sterns are not. Those are still trim. Well, no, the bottom is not trim. It's a lift channel. Okay, but what's the top? See, that's a good question on the sterns, because it's actually the locking mechanism itself. But it's also a trim piece. I consider the sides trim. No, I don't. I consider it all trim. So... Wow, that might be the title. We'll just call it trim. Trim. I like that. It's just trim. I had it upside down for five days. Would not drop. I finally had to grab the glass a little bit and pull, and then finally the last piece of tape broke and the glass dropped down. And then I looked at the piece that I had, the trim piece, and it was pretty rusty. So it dropped off of the lift channel. Okay. No, no, no, the trim. The lift channel. I got you. So you have a new lift channel? It's coming. It's coming. With another piece I ordered from Marco. Excellent. I ordered a star post, the star inserts. So how many pieces of tape do they have on that thing? Is it two or three? Two. So they just do left and right side? Left and right, and there only has to be like a quarter-inch thick. Yeah. Quarter-inch wide. Yeah. You get friction tape. It's just, say, I would put it on like they had it. Yeah, I'm going to. And then you could do the same thing. You just put it upside down. Well, right side up in this case and let it settle. I might just give it to you. No. If it's not here by Thursday, which hopefully it will be, I'll just give you the whole thing, and you can just plop it down and put it in there. Yeah. I still got my friction tape somewhere from when I did some other backless. But, yeah. So that's Quicksilver. That will be ready for stomp. Yes, it will. Flippers are nice and strong on it. We got the spinners working. I got to work with the switches. Some of the switches aren't working. Some of the switches need adjustment. But lights work. Everything else works. Soundworks, we're doing pretty good. We've just got to get a little bit more. Ron might have to tweak it a little bit, but we'll be stomping away on that puppy. Does it have an original CPU board in it? It does. All right. So I'll have to see. Do you know, is it Jumper for 2732s or is it 2716s? I couldn't tell you. Okay. It's actually got, somebody put MRAM in it, so. Why, you want to put the newer ROMs in it so you can? Yeah, I can get the ROMs from Scott. Okay. the files and I can just burn them with my awesome burner. What will that change? I don't think he made any rules changes on that one. Actually, I can consult exactly what he did. I believe it just puts the free play option in. But I could be wrong. Let's see. His ROM does what? He doesn't have one here. How are you doing here? Hey, Scott, you have some work to do. No, that just means he thought it was good. And didn't bother. But I believe the free play ROMs he had, he had in all his games. Another thing going on for me, Viking is going bye-bye. Oh, bye, Viking. That's the one you got the better back glass for. I know, but it helped me sell it faster. It's going east, young man, and you might actually see it in October, November. November. At the Sanctum? At the Sanctum. Because that's where it's going. I think so. so the viking will be at the sanctum one more thing you're gonna get something in october and august ron that you've never had before up by you it's first it started with a league now it has snowballed we are actually going to have a pinball show oh wow i might have to actually bring out a game also yeah because you're getting free I know, and I'm just cheap. It's going to be in Saratoga during track season. That was a good idea. It's going to be at the Saratoga YMCA. YMCA. And they're starting small. It's going to be 50 games. That's what they're hoping to get. So I am deciding what game I'm going to bring because I will be bringing something. I think you bring the Flash. Yeah. Everyone loves Flash. Yeah, I've got to get the old boards back in it. If I bring it, I'll put it up for sale. I don't want to sell it with the newer boards in it. So I've got to get the old boards repaired. Actually, I don't even know if they had any issues. I got that at a time where I was just putting new boards in everything, even if the old boards worked. So I have to go through my stash and see if I can find the System 4 boards that I took out of that thing. Oh, not a fan? Not a fan of that, how many pin interconnect? 40. Yeah, 40 pin interconnect. Great idea, Williams. Good job. Yeah, great. Good job. Which actually Zach's playing with right now on a game, and he's just hating life. Yep. Let's see, what else do I have? That was, is that all news? Well, no, we went to repairs. Then we kind of went back to shows. We're all over the place. We're found all over the place. The format has been completely ruined. It is. We're screwed. We're screwed. But Saratoga will be cool. I think it'll be nice bringing more pinball to upstate New York on the east side, too. Yep. Can't wait. It's going to be great, man. A lot of people signed up for Stomp already, though. I think the count is up to 15. Wow. Wow. 15 Stompers getting ready to get stomped. Yes, by Ron's Hard Games. We still have plenty of room for everyone else. You can pre-register. You can go on Facebook, look up Stomp. You can actually go to the Slamtip Podcast and look at our beautiful poster made by Kevin Manning. I'm going to try to get some kind of promo video. For Bruce's tournaments, we used to do a promo video. Yes. I'll try to do something. It's going to be harder to do solo, but I will try to get something so at least you get an idea of what you're getting into. So two weeks later Ron Star Wars Still the worst game ever yeah I said that earlier Clearly Is it Clearly I mean I haven played it yet But we know someone who did. Yes, we did. Levy. Levy played it. Tim, our friend of the show, T-Sex, Tim Balls, Tim Sexton, he posted that he was going to have the first gameplay video of Star Wars. Yes. because it was going to be in a trade show in London. And the poster said it was open to everyone. But what it meant was it was open to anyone in the industry, not everyone. So Levy just walked in anyway because there was no security or anything, and boom, there's a Star Wars sitting there. So he played it. He did some filming. But then Gary Stern saw the filming and asked them to not show it. So they respected his wishes. they did not publicly show it publicly show it i know tim's seeing it but yeah they did not publicly show it and my guess is it won't be shown until the dead flip stream where it's shown yeah so check out tim balls because he did a whole hour like an hour special on it where they they got they got pictures of the game additional pictures not just the ones from the uh the promo where you can see a lot of the animations, a lot of the LCD display stuff. So it's on Tim's Twitch channel, twitch.tv slash TimBalls. I believe he put it on his YouTube channel also, which I believe is TimBalls. So just look that up. You're on number three? Four. Four, if you're counting at home. Yes. Ay, ay, ay. Ay, ay, ay. So check that out. you can find out about as much about Star Wars as you're going to find out. Levick said it was fast. Yeah, he said it was fast. I really have no interest in the Pro. Just looking at it. When I see the premium and I see that wire form, that's what I want to see. I'm sure the Pro will play great, but as far as what I want to see, I want to see what that is. I want to see that in action. So that's about all the Star Wars news. let's see what else we got I think it's time for mail I think it's time for the mail ball bag mail ball bag okay they're going to pull it up right now they're going to pull out the sock and get the mail ball bag out let's get it up let's get it up okay we had some of our answers so actually we only have really besides the answers we have one email this is all you this is from the pinball princess She sent us more pinball poetry And it's shorter So don't worry It's not going to take 20 minutes to read And she said something for you I know she did Which I totally misconstrued I failed miserably on this And I picked it right up And he picked it right up So I suck, obviously So, from the pinball princess It starts off Deer slam and tilt waiting for myself to get my crap together and properly put pen to paper for a decently structured missive to the podcast is going along much like waiting for april the giraffe to give birth interminable april pulled through though in the end and so shall i one of my many notes was a note to myself to avoid dropping memes and internet references unless tim was around to translate and he's not, based on the last episode he was on, I just violated my own resolution. I regret nothing, except for a lot, but I regret nothing. In the interim, while I wait to collect my notes from my cell phone and email and office, where I definitely just left a bunch of slam-tilt-related notes on a pad of paper on my desk, I feel as though I should contribute something to the mail ball bag, which I just considered calling something even cheekier, but I think it might start tiptoeing across the too far line. No, sorry. I don't know if there is a too far. Not in this show. I know that my letters are capable of reaching lengths that, like my bawdy epitaphs, might touch the too far line, but I am coming to realize that saving up thoughts because I am behind or because I want to keep my emails on the lengthier side at the cost of email submission frequency is more cost than benefit. In play terms, I like writing to you guys regularly, Therefore, while I will keep it short because writing on the fly, much like playing pinball on the fly, is subject to sudden drains of, wait, what the fuck was I going to say? And the quality is chaotic and inconsistent, more like, how the fuck did you manage that? That was an awkward shot. Well, that came out unexpectedly well. Then the beautiful, almost choreographed play of a skilled player keeping the ball under control. I will flip and flail awkwardly to add my two quarters to the podcast anyway. My ball control style letter will come later. Well, I think I didn't screw up anything there. Let's see. I write on the fly not only because I am wholly unprepared to spend several hours writing at the moment, but because I wanted to mention a tournament I heard about called Stomp. Wow! Did you hear about this tournament? It's in mid-July, about the 15th, and it's on the, yeah, that's pretty much upstate area of New York. Sort of by you guys. From what I've heard, it could possibly be the best tournament ever. I don't know about that. Oh, come on. Come on. Best tournament in East New York ever. Ever. Ever. One little detail I heard about regarding the tournament was that the hosts were possibly in jest proposing a pinball poetry competition for the coveted couch spot at the tournament location. Whether it be – Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Freeze. Uh-oh. Bruce's veto now kicks in. Well, you have a spot on the couch. I have the coveted spot. Okay. This is for the secondary spot. Okay, because you know why I have the coveted spot. Because you brought all the games downstairs. You got it. Okay, continue. For the coveted non-Bruce couch spot at the tournament location, whether it be for the couch or just for fun, I fully support the concept of writing pinball-related poetry. That is to say, as per my notes, bring it on, bitches. I'm here for the pinball poetry. Let's do this shit. See, I do have to ask, though, if writing is required for pinball-related poetry. I would argue that good pinball play is, in its own way, a form of poetry. The sleek pull and release of a plunger. The roll of the ball as it whips around a ramp. Slowly drips down a lane. Floats across the playfield. Floats? Floats? Oh, stop. The clacking noise of a flipper button contrasted with the unmistakable snap of a flipper. There is a beauty to willed, controlled flipper skills. There is awe in the force of a slap save, a nudge. There is music in the post-brick drain stream of swear words, the contour of a player's stance, the dance down the meandering paths of a game's rules, the thrill of the silver ball. Is this not, in its own right, poetry? The agony of defeat. Dun-dun-dun-dun. I'd say, yeah, I'd say that. me on the fly thought train just brick drain fucking outlanes got that i got it now that i've totally forgotten whatever else i may wanted to say i have no good transition to farewell so i will leave you with my first poem for the slam till podcast and it's attached there's a pdf attached this email bruce may want to be the one to read this as it was inspired by him please note that this poem may or may not reflect my own views and i'll leave that up for my next letter still wholly unable to complete a ballet tap pass more than 20 of the time player 31915 okay now and there's a pdf attached and the title of the pdf is bruce may want to be the one to read this poem so bruce i will leave this up to you you need to say every word you need to say it correctly Why Gottliebs are the greatest in the styling of Bruce Nightingale. Number one. Uh, yeah. That's it. Done. You're right. That's it. There's nothing else on here. It's completely blank. It is. And the funny part is, I totally, that went right over my head. So he emails me. He calls me. We were talking before the show, and he goes, can you look at the email we just got? I'm like, yeah, okay. And he goes, do you see anything on it? I read it. I go, yeah, I get it totally. It's sarcasm. Huh? Nice one, Steph. I loved it. I failed miserably. You did. I loved it. I even PM'd her, and she wrote back like, yeah, that's the joke. Oh, how embarrassing. It was funny. It was funny. I'm an idiot. What can I say? On that note, I think it's time to pay some bills. It is time to pay some bills. www.pinballlifter.com. Come check out the site. We sell lifters, pinball helpers, which we are giving away one free. To a lucky answerer of our trivia questions. Which was? Name three guests we have had on the show. Pretty simple. Name that. send it off to slamtiltpodcast at gmail.com We're going to get you saying that now. I know. I hate it. I'm not the plug person. I'm the whippy sidekick. You're not the plug person. Oh my. Only my own plugs. Come check out our site. We try to help out everyone in the pinball community. Don't forget to check out Flipper Fidelity. Good friend of the show. Sells pinball machines, sells stern accessories, sells speakers. Show is coming up soon. Pintastic. July, I think it's 7th, 8th, 9th? That sounds right. It's the weekend before stop. Yes, it is. That's in Massachusetts. Come check it out. We'll both probably be at the show because I have to bring the game out for Viking. Pinberg. July 28th, 29th, and 30th and 31st I think it is I think it is, yep 800 people, Pimberg, plus you also have Replay FX going on at the same time great show which you know what else is going on at the same time? nope California Extreme yeah, that sucks yeah, that was fail that was definitely a fail and then also the Buffalo Open coming up soon on August August 17th and 18th. And don't forget the Saratoga Pinball Show, August 12th. But Buffalo Pinball also announced today that they're having a pre-tournament the Thursday night beforehand. 50 people for a three-strikes tournament. Maybe we should figure out something before that to do our big battle. Because I haven't forgotten that. Oh, I know. Battle of the podcast. I know. The bros versus the slams. That's probably a bad weekend. Because they're going to be running around. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Something before then? We've got to figure out something. Yes, we will. It's a long summer still. Actually, are they going to be at Pinburgh? They will be at Pinburgh. Hmm. Ah, I sense opportunity. If we all suck bad enough, we won't have to play Saturday. Yeah, but I think they want to actually broadcast it on Twitch. We'll see. We'll talk. We'll see. I know Kevin's listening. Hi, Kevin. Yeah, maybe you can bring all your stuff. I'm sure you'd love to do this. Oh, yeah. That's what they want to do when they're having fun. Let's just bring a camera rig over there and a laptop. So that's the upcoming events. Thanks, everybody. This has been Episode 47, 12 Chairs. Nice short one. Nice short one. Again, you can find us on Facebook. Just look for Slamtail Podcast. Find us on YouTube. Just look for Slamtail Podcast.
