TL;DR

Third-party train track mod allows Cactus Canyon Remake Pro/Premium owners to upgrade to LE-style aesthetics.

Summary

Cary Hardy reviews and installs a third-party train track mod for Cactus Canyon Remake, designed to give Pro/Premium tier machines the aesthetic upgrade typically exclusive to Limited Edition models. The mod uses existing mounting points and requires simple hardware installation, though Hardy notes the 3D-printed material could benefit from darker coloring and post-processing to reduce its appearance as a mod.

high confidence · Opening statement about visual difference between tier tiers; motivation for mod existence

  • The mod uses three existing screws already present on the machine for LE train track installation

  • The 3D-printed material benefits from acetone treatment and 500-grit sandpaper to smooth rough edges from the printer

high confidence · Detailed post-processing section showing material preparation techniques

  • A darker filament color would have been preferable for the mod to blend better with the game's aesthetic

high confidence · Hardy's repeated criticism that the material 'stands out' and recommendation for darker coloring

For you Cactus Canyon remake owners, unless you are getting or even own the limited edition, this is what your train tracks will look like. Now by all means, it does the job, but what if there was an option for the lower tier owners to make it look more special? That is where this mod comes into play. With an easy install this thing is almost perfect. We will get into that in a bit. To install this mod you will be utilizing the three screws that are already there for the use of the train track install on the limited edition. Alright to install this it's pretty simple. This is the orientation that you will need to have it in. I start out by placing it this direction you're going to go further in this way and then up underneath you'll know when you're in the right spot when you're able to slide it in to that one it's in place up here in the slot if you're in position for these two then you're definitely in position for the third one over here and that when you going to take the provided nylon nut and screw it on into position Alright so that not tightened up yet but that at least gets it into place to where I don't have to hold on to it anymore. Then you apply the other nut to this one up here. Alright, those are at least in position. Now I just need to tighten them up. Using whatever tools you have available, you will need to tighten the provided hardware. I'm using a 5 16 socket. That's it. That's all there is to it. You are done. You have successfully added a nice little mod to your Cactus Canyon remake, making it one step closer to looking like a limited edition. Now remember when I said it was almost perfect? That's because I personally feel this material should be darker. It stands out, but the best mods are the ones that don't look like mods. There were some rough edges from the 3D printer that weren't cleaned off to my satisfaction either so let's spruce it up even further so what I've done so far is use some 500 grit sandpaper to go over all the rough edges that were around on the inside and then i use acetone to basically get up all the extra stuff around the edges and kind of smooth this material out acetone will basically kind of slowly eat away at this once applied to it so it's going to make this 3d print a lot smoother and it's going to look less 3d printed so already it is looking a lot better than what it did whenever it first arrived i still need to go around here to get this stuff but once i'm done with getting it all smoothed out then i will begin the painting process all right i've about got the white done but i mean it's basically just kind of going over it just to make sure everything is all nice and saturated and white um this is going to be fine I mean, especially since I don't need it to be extremely detailed or anything. I'm just looking to improve it a little bit. I mean, to a lot of people it would be fine the way it was. But I'm like, I could probably make it look a little better. So the white is done. We're going to get a heat gun on this, get it all dry, and move on to the next coat. All right, first coat is done. Some of these paints I'm not happy with. I just love my Creotex. It goes on so much better than whatever the frig of this stuff is. Hobby Lobby was closed so I'm having to deal with what I got. I make it work But even with the paints that I don really care for it already looks a lot better than what it did this is just the first coat I now gonna do some little other touch here and there with some other colors kind of make it look a little bit more realistic in a way or at least kind of match the game a little bit better and here we go got the metallic look for the tracks even though you're not really gonna be able to see it very well but uh let's put it into the game and see how it looks now i know i stated i didn't want to put too much effort into this yet i use a metallic paint for the tracks which will not even be visible i'm alternating back and forth before and after on this in the end i know i put too much effort into it i should have just gone over with a darker brown that's all i feel this mod needs. More post work for clearing off the rough edges and they just need to use a darker filament for their printer. I will put a link in the description to pick up this mod for your very own game. And until next time guys, peace out. Thank you.
