But we're playing Spider-Man. Spider-Man's cool. 2005, I've always enjoyed this game. It has a fond, I have fond memories of it. I remember the old Metreon Theater. No, the Metreon is still there. But up near the movie theater, there were these pinball machines run by a certain company that will remain nameless, but operated on by a really cool pinball operator here in the San Francisco area, TJ, TJ Byer. You might know him if you're from the West Coast. They have a ton of games. TJ had, he was the operator for the games at the Metreon, and one of the games was Spider-Man, I remember. So I would take my lunch time and just dump quarters into this thing and play it like crazy. And this was one of the first games that I actually started to understand what the rules are. I mean, one of the first of maybe, you know, ten games that I was like, okay, I think I understand the rules. I think I understand what's going on. You have to shoot the white arrows. You have to shoot this and that. And what's cool is, so TJ is awesome, and he maintained that place. They've since removed pinball machines altogether from the Metreon. but I think it's for the better because the pinball machines now moved into the places that actually love pinball and not the places that were just like we're gonna make money and when they decided they didn't make money they were like screw you we're out um spider-man's cool like I said it's from 2007 um this is when stern started really cranking out some some some pretty I would say deep rules but pretty interesting rules one thing about spider-man is that um it can get kind of it could play pretty long um and if you are a tournament player you know basically what to do like my kid is 10 years old figured out what to do within like a couple of hours playing this he goes oh dad doc ock and multiball and i'm like yeah that's pretty much it if you want to get a big score on this you basically do doc ock and multiball and you go for that. But there's a bunch of other things, right? So there's the white arrows that light your modes, right? Rescue MJ, New Goblin, Daily Bugle, and Bonesaw. And if you can clear all the white arrows, you shoot up to the top and you start a mode. There's also the villains, which is the Green Goblin, the Sandman, the Venom, and Doc Ock. You shoot those a bunch of times, you progress. There's a battle royale. Royale with cheese. There's a battle royale that is a kind of a mini wizard mode. And then there's, I think it's called superhero or something like that, which is the main wizard mode, which I've never gotten to when you defeat everything in the game. One thing I did learn from watching another Bowen Keren's video was that once you clear all the white arrows um the next white arrow shot you make will be i think doubled for the rest of that ball so that could be huge like if you hit the spinner if this is the last white arrow you clear and then you start hitting a spinner a ton of times it's like huge value um what else about this game spider sense i never really understood what that did someone told me yesterday and i forgot promptly there is one issue with this game is the dock it's kind of raised from the play field, so it's actually a bump now. So if you hit it with the left flipper, it might jump over the opto and won't trigger that. Most of the time you want to safe shoot that from, you want to backhand it from the right flipper. But I'm going to shoot for it every once in a while and hope for the best. The Venom shot. Oh, also, some of the best, some people hate the Jonah Jameson call-outs. I love the Jonah Jameson call-outs in this because it was the first time I felt like a pinball machine was actually talking to me um outside of Steve Ritchie just yelling at you um what else you're up i know i'm up thank you see now he's annoying already um venom depending on what machine you play can be really tough this shot here i have this cranked up a little bit because it was kind of shallow so i cranked the i want to play hard um so this shot could be tricky for me tonight and there's a post here. The rubber has been removed from the post. And that's because this game has seen tournament play at City Champ at Free Gold Watch. Those rubbers just, they just, I don't even know where the rubber is anymore. It's gone. So I'm going to play with a metal pipe sticking in between the flippers. But compared to Ghostbusters, this is terrific. All right. There's a little bit of a... Wow, that was a hell of a flipper flip. A flipper... Now, I haven't hit any switches yet, so I could easily just do that, get the ball back and try again.
