toberfest owners Dave Jeff Brenner with American pinball tech service today I'm going over the function and testing of the bar door if you've had a situation where the bar door isn't functioning as expected I'm going to go through some of the things that it could be so first thing you want to do is with your game powered on go into the service menu hit the black coin door button to enter in enter into tests and then go over to Bar door and then use your flipper buttons to move the bar door open and closed while you're doing this listen for the servo motor noise and verify that you are getting power it is trying to open it if for some reason your door is chattering it might be attributed to uh an opto not working or there is something binding the door so if your door is trying to open try pushing the flipper button and helping it a little bit with your hand and see if that opens the door if it is then you might have something binding on the play field that you'll need to check and free up the door so it moves smoothly now I'm going to lift the play field and show you how it functions on the underside with your Playfield fully lifted vertical and resting on the backbox take a look at the servo motor on the bottom left hand side of your play field this would be directly under the bar door here you can see this is the stepper motor that spins the bar door back and forth inside this metal bracket there is a coupler that connects this the stepper motor to the bar door shaft and there are some Allen screws set screws that need to be tight on that shaft in order for it to move back and forth so I'm going to zoom in here and show you that connection zooming in on the stepper motor connection to the bar door shaft you'll see that there's a coupler that is tightened down to the shaft and the stepper motor with some Allen set screws there are four on this coupler you these need to be tight so it's not the the bar door isn't loose and spinning with the stepper motor movement with the game powered off you should be able to reach your fingers in here and move this this shaft back and forth with little to no resistance at all if you feel some resistance or drag something is rubbing on the on the bar door itself either it's rubbing on the play field or something is in the way that is catching and you'll need to take a look at that and see if you can free up the bind spot that is happening whether it's a play field or a washer or something if you look around the Playfield cut out you can see as you spin the shaft the bottom side of the bar door review that this isn't touching any part of the play field if it is then you might need to reposition the whole Barb Mac on the play field so it's not rubbing the next thing to check is the function of your opto switch is for the open and closed positions of the bar door open your coin door and go into the switch test menu and here you'll be able to see the open and closed positions of your bar door you should be able to spin the shaft left and right and see that your bar door is opening and closing in those positions those plugs are A and B on the board directly below it if those aren't functioning properly you'll need to review that and replace them the last thing to check is the stepper motor controller board itself this is located in the bottom left hand side of the cabinet all the way to the back it's a small board and you'll see the connections for the stepper Motors the one on the right it you'll see the blue red green and black wires on a rectangular plug at the bottom the rightmost plug is the stepper for the bar door make sure that that's connected the other one is for the auto head and you can see on the board itself verify that it's the LEDs are lit and that it's getting power if you have any questions about anything that has been covered in this video or not covered in this video please reach out to me at the email or phone number listed at the bottom of the screen thank you for watching
