But you know what? I get that kind of euphoria, that excitement. I don't know what it's like to have it as a winner, but I saw it in you. Team Seattle. Team Seattle. Speaking of Seattle, you do a lot in Seattle with the uh pinball and arcade show and also uh Seattle Super Women's. Yeah, Seattle Women's Super Weekend. I'm trying to do two a year like uh basically kind of like what District 82 does with its Super Weekend only instead of open tournaments, it's mainly women's tournaments. We're here at the uh quarterfinals of the Target Match Play Classics Target Match Play event here at Indisk in Sunny California. Um it's been an eventful couple days. It has. Hope you two have been uh getting good luck in your favor. Oh well, here and there. Some hits and misses, you could say. Yes. Not much of trying. that's uh been putting in quite a few cards for Tan Nova, but uh who knows what might happen as they say. Yeah, anything can happen. It's It's still early. It's only Friday. And as our brave participants are about to find out, with classics, anything can happen. Oh, absolutely. The great equalizers. They are. And these classics are set up great. They're playing really well. Yeah, they are indeed. Definitely. All the games here are set up well. Uh I I love coming to Indisk. Is this your second, third? Uh this is like my third, I think. Okay. Yeah, this is my first. How about you, Simon? Uh certainly my first, but I don't think it would be my last. It's a great event and kudos to the guys and everyone involved um for the for what they put together cuz it certainly is such a great event. Such a great event. Yeah. Yeah. I keep going back because of just how well organized and well Oh, yeah. All the pins are running great. Once they go down, they're back up. You know, it's Yeah, they have a lot of good staff here. No, I used to live in California, so I'll do a few. Totally. How about you? No, I was fast asleep. Oh, nice. I got my 4 hours sleep last night. trying to adjust to the the time zone because it's uh obviously we're 17 hours in front I think when I where I come from so it's a bit of a challenge but uh here we are I'm enjoying every moment of it fantastic nothing that a bit of caffeine can't fix that's right me and Simon were playing on Wednesday at the pre-turnney and he had just flown in so I give him kudos for trudging through that on little sleep oh man and still competing at a high level jet lag is no joke I I think my uh some of my choices that night, a couple of beers and some jet lag certainly made it uh an interesting night. But anyway, it was always fun playing pinball. I mean, I love it and many everyone around here. It's just such a great thing to be involved with. There's so many great people I've met uh internationally of course got a lot of friends in Australia, but it's just a really interesting um I'm not going to call it a sport, but it's uh something that's a great hobby for um so many aspects of it. It's a sporty hobby. Can we say that or a gaming type hobby? Okay, here we go. This is Voli, everyone. It's not $5 Voli, but you know, it's still good. No. Um, Voli is a great game. Uh, Voli is uh Have you you've played Bali? Yeah. So, basically, each of these will light your pop of the respective color. And um you want to light those because those are thousand each. And then they also light your drops um on the center playfield. And obviously when you when they're lit, you get 5,000 each. So you don't want to waste your drops if they're unlit. Um try to get up top as much as you can. With any em you want to live up top. Yeah, if you can. Yeah, if you can. It's It's hard to control EM sometimes. Exactly. Okay. Looks like uh are we doing practice first? I'm not sure. I'm not sure either if everyone gets a practice or if we missed that. Looks like M. No. Oh, wait. Yeah, it's a single player game. That's right. So, he's uh he's going on his own. So, that was his first ball. Fortunately, a little house ball, but Oh, no. Oh, no. Okay. No, it is. This is Okay, this is legit. This is legit. I thought he was walking away. Come on, Bob. You got this. He's got the yellow lit. There's the green lit. So now each one of those drop targets at the top and on the right there are worth 5,000 points which is huge in in this game. Oh yeah. Um and the pops are a thousand each. Just got a tiny bit of that off that left. The good news is it sticks with you. So your yellow and green are still lit and now he's Yes. From ball to ball. Yep. And then the drops only reset when you've hit them all. That's right. Okay, there you go. Oh, he's going for that blue. Yes, he is. Nice. There we go. There you go. And that feed from the uh inlanes on the end is sometimes dangerous because it hits that post and it can bounce on the Yep. Right there. Good idea. Right here is very dangerous because it usually goes out that way. It can. Yeah. And this is a Is this a tilt ends game? Yes, it is. Yes, the wedge heads are always like that. Yeah, there you go. You got all the yellows. Do you play this one often, Simon? Uh, yeah. I'm old enough to have grown up with these. These are some of my favorite games, the wedge heads. This is a good one. I love this one. Yeah, I think this is like a fan favorite for the pinball community. All right. Okay, so that is his that was his last ball. Yeah, he ends the game at 35 150, I believe. Uh, yeah, I think that's a one. Going first in these kinds of rounds when it's a oneplayer game is always very nerve-wracking because you're setting the standard for everyone else. So, now everyone knows what they have to beat to not get last. Definitely drawing the shorts on on the classic for one player games. We go first. Yeah. Okay, we got Jose now. Nice. Jose from the DMV area, DC, Maryland, Virginia, here with this uh other DMV partner, Stephanie. Great women's competitor. All right. What do you get? The green. Oh, yes. He got green. Yes. Oh, see that's what you were talking about. There it is. Danger. Get that yellow. There you go. Nice. All three. There we go. Beautiful. Second fall. All lit. Oh, nice bump, too. That was lovely. Perfect. He's set up now. I'd be salivating. Oh, here we go. This is This is a dream setup right here. Indeed. It is. And the blue. Perfect. Wait, what's happening? What's Oh, no. Was that his practice? Oh, you're kidding. No. Oh, that's such a bummer. No, we were excited. I was so excited for him. Well, maybe that'll happen again. Hang on. Did Bob have it? We must have missed Bob's practice. We must have missed Bob's practice unless he did. Yeah. And so in this round, um top two are going on. Uh top two scores. Uh yes, I think it's um a match play of three games. Yes. Uh match play scoring is 3210 as it was before, I think. Um yes. [Music] So the top player on this game will get three points. Second place will get two. Basically, you get a point for everyone you beat. Yes, that's a great way of explaining it. That's how I remember it. Okay, he's got the blue, so he'll be aiming for those.

If you're if you're interested in pinball at all, come to one of these shows cuz it's it's cool. It's very welcoming. You get to learn how to play these games that are sometimes really old and sometimes very rare. So, it's uh it's a good time. My first time playing hoops this uh in my life. And uh it's playing it's a beautiful copy. It's not nice to me, but uh it was fun to play. I love the old school got leaves and Yeah, me too. With the uh gotle flippers, which are quite unusual from any other brand, they do stick quite nearly vertically. It's a a ball can roll roll down the in lane and you can stop it dead. Uh we we have done some tournaments before, but it's much it's a much harder thing to do. At Logan's or At Logan? Yeah. Uh we actually streamed the women's worlds last year as well. Oh, nice. So, that was a lot of fun, a lot of work. Um, but it was really cool to see all the women come out and just slay games. I wish everybody at home could see how involved tournament streaming is because there's a setup here that rivals uh esports uh finals, whatever you want to call the Super Bowl, I would say. Yeah, it is significant and the amount of work and effort they put into producing this is quite professional. Uh I won't say we don't do anything like this in Australia, but uh we don't. And I've come here and I've been amazed at the scale of it. It's fantastic. Absolutely. But no one really does it like Carl and the IE pinball team here. This is just, you know, immaculate setup. Yeah. We all try to emulate the rigs that he built. He's got his little mobile rig sheet for us. But this production quality is uh stellar. Absolutely stellar. Absolutely. So, what we're seeing here is they've uh the ball was stuck on the top of that that sling and they need to put it back on the closest uh on the flipper on the left. So, they don't put it in the plunger. They put it uh on the flipper. So, he has to shoot from there and he has to just hold it up while everything's assembled again. He's holding that flipper up and away he goes. Regains his um This is the hardest part. M yeah cuz he could try to go back up top to get the green, but I would just get those two drops right there if I could on the yellow. But really the composure after having a stuck ball is the uh I mean for me it's a mental game right there. Y now that ant that ant lane wasn't too bad cuz it's 5,000 because it's lit. So that's not the you know 5 5,000 is significant in this game. Oh yeah. Yes. Oh, he's going for that last one. Get the green. There he goes. There it is. Beautiful. All right. Oh no, he had an elbow elbow bounce. Yep. Okay, he's moved away. Just gain himself. There you go. It's so tricky those slow bounces on the old ones cuz you know you try to live catch, drop catch, and Yes. Oh no. Okay, there we go. Some control. Um I think he was aiming for the blue there. It's always nice to see familiar faces, unless they're beating you. All right. So, so this is probably her practice. I was going to ask, do um so in these uh playoffs, are you entitled to a practice uh ball? It seems that way. It seems like a 30 second practice rule. Um at least that's what Jose got.

It's one of those games where it can make or break you and often a player will measure that out in practice. So what he's doing now, you can see he's looking down trying to get an idea of where that ball will land when he lines it up in the plunger. So that's quite important sort of skill to learn and it's very difficult because it does take the variance out of that shot. So he probably learned a whole lot from those three balls. She's got a a reasonable idea. Well, a vague a better than vague idea perhaps um about where that that that shot is that plunge is. I forgot to mention uh Twitch chat. Uh we appreciate everyone being here, but just in case you guys didn't know, we can't see you. So, we've got the action in front of us. Did you both play in it? I did not. I botched the registration. You did. I know Simon did. Yes, I had to, you know, I just bought the all in the first time I've come to IDS and I thought, you know, I'm traveling all this way, I'm spending all this money, why wouldn't I just buy the the full package cuz uh you just have to see the sights. Yes, indeed. Um so I was it's it's quite hard to juggle. I will say when you're playing the match play, uh trying to qualify and then you're trying to get some other games in. Maybe you're playing the high stakes or the uh another bank. So it uh it makes it very hard to tugle that especially when you know the mad rush is coming tomorrow for the open and high stakes qualifying runs into Sunday but uh tomorrow's going to be a mad house. So everybody's got classics qualifying qualifying started today. Um that cues those cues I can see right now are very much longer but that does help the open cues which was uh half an hour each last night and some people that's a I found that a real difficult thing to uh juggle that's the you got a lot of thinking time and often I'm in a queue and I've got 30 minutes to uh think about perhaps you know that's not the right game that I should play on the card format because it it is about completing a great card. Not a and not every game has to be the best, but it has to be pretty pretty good. You just basically need to be for a division. It's I think top 40. So, you need an average of 40. And if you haven't played a card format, um this is my second time only. It's very intimidating, but I understand the pros and cons of it. So, so for people who don't know what the card format is, it's a it's a different form of qualifying than we we did here yesterday for the classic start match play. It is an open qualifying where you're given um you buy a card and on that card you play five different games. Yep. Um and you cannot start a new card until you've either finished that card or avoided it out. Um your top card will be used as your uh qualifying score. Yes. And it's very strategic at the end when you're trying to figure out which one of your scores you don't want to bump down. You can hurt yourself. You can also hurt other people though and knock them down and hopefully raise your stakes. So this uh I am so glad we get to see this uh system 11 classic pinbot. Um I love watching this. Shout out to uh Captain Zanzibar streams this on Twitch a lot. Um the first entry in the bot series. You got Bride of Pinbot and Jackbot. Um is she is this her practice? I'm assuming so because it was only a one player game. Oh, gotcha. Okay. Yeah, that that would help. Yeah. So, one thing that a lot of players do on pinbot is they short plunge. Hopefully, do they do it on pinbot, too? I know they do it on jackbot. Absolutely. Absolutely. So, they short plunge, try not to activate the playfield. Um, hopefully land on one of these two flippers and then these targets here are roving. They'll go vertical and then horizontal and then you if you hit the one that's lit, the visor will open, which is where you can lock your two balls right here. Oops. right here and right here in the visor like eyes on a robot. And then you've got your multiball. Uh so that is the name of the game. Your what? Your left ramp raises your uh solar value which is I believe your jackpot during multiball if I'm not mistaken. Yes, you want to hit that ramp during multiball. Gotcha. Okay. It looks like we're starting up. We are. All right. Bob has not elected to do what you've uh suggested, but the skill shot up here, you know, it does multiply itself as you get more. So, if you are able to get back to the plunger, um you know, you can you get you get a double 2x on it and there I forgot what the middle target is. It's 100,000, I believe. Um which is big in in Pinbot. So, Bob is forced now to take on those those lights. Yep. These are all lit now. And that he's got to try to hit these. That's going to be Yep. That's gonna be tough.
