Hello. Hi. Welcome to the Punk Rock Pinball Podcast episode number 55. I can't drive 55. The one year anniversary. I'm Stephanie. I'm Mike. We're the host of the show. This is our pinball show. And guess what? That red light is on today. Red light's on, so we're back on YouTube after two weeks. Feels good, doesn't it? Last week's episode was an audio exclusive because we didn't hit record on the camera, but it turns out we did hit record on the camera. We did? We were just using the other memory card slot, so it tells you it's in valid operation. Oh. Unless you have to pick it. You got to pick it in the settings because we broke the A card slot. We got an A card slot down. Mm-hmm. And, Mike, where are we at today? We're at the HQ. We're in the balcony of the HQ. Yeah, you can't really see a lot behind us, but you can see a little bit behind us. We can see a little bit of our new Richie Rowe. I was hoping some of these lights would be in there, but that's fine. We have these hanging lights that just add a little ambience. We've got a row of Steve Ritchie games right back behind us. How many are there? Six? Five. Are there five right there? Yeah, five and then we've got the three Black Knights. So we have eight Steve Ritchie machines. Mm-hmm. But today we're going to talk just kind of about, it's our one year anniversary which we didn't even know. Thank you, Aaron Reddick. So Aaron Reddick posted on July 5th and today's July 7th. So happy anniversary to us. The video will be out on the 8th, so it'll be three days after our anniversary. Anniversary week. 55 episodes. So, yeah, we've done a lot of things. In the last year? Since that time. Yeah, one year ago, we did not have this place. No, this place was barely even an idea. I don't even know if it was an idea. I don't know if it may not have been an idea. I know that our friend Zach Maury came over to our house. He makes the most delicious cookies. Yeah, he makes really good oatmeal cookies. And chocolate chip with sea salt. If Zach Maury ever says, can I bring something I baked? The answer is always yes. Anyways, he came over to flip at the house one day, maybe even to pick up the Avengers that he bought. Yeah, we sold him our Avengers Infinity Quest Pro. And he said, have you heard about these pinball collectives? And we were like, yeah, you know, ORD. We'd been to ORD. We had been. We're like, yeah, we know about it. And he's like, we should do that. And he was right. He was right. Now here we are. We now have 40 pinball machines in here. That's crazy. We just added a jackpot and a pool sharks. Yep. Which everyone is loving. It's very hard. I know, but everyone's loving these two new games. Yeah. Like, very excited about it. And the jackpot doesn't even work right yet. The left ramp doesn't go down. Yeah. It'll work. Yeah, we'll get it fixed. And other than that, I think all of the machines are working.

medium confidence · Mike speculates: 'I think it'll be out in... September?... 2027' and predicts AC/DC remaster in fall, noting uncertainty

medium confidence · Mike states: 'Brian Eddy have not heard, I don't know any rumors about what Brian Eddy might be doing. His last one was D&D. It's been a while.'

Everything's working except jackpot, yeah. Oh, no, Doctor Who. Doctor Who's down. Cat's working on it, though. And it's not the time expander, Mek. He has that working. Wait, what?
    3:41
The time expander. Yeah, I thought that was the problem. No, the problem is the game is just resetting randomly. Oh, you did tell me that. Yeah, it's just doing random resets. And he's going to try to fix that. You can get a little chip to put in those boards that makes them not do that. Because those games, the WPC Williams Ballet games, they reset a lot. Well, they've made some improvements since then. But that's a fun game. I can't wait for that to get cooking. It is a fun game. So yeah, we opened this place in the last year. What else did we do? We started an association. And a podcast. Well, the podcast, yes. Yes. It's the one year anniversary of that. I know. So that's what we're celebrating is this podcast. So the association, talk about that. So, we wanted to do a thing where we had like our own leaderboard. Not dissimilar to the IFPA, but not the same at all and not really in competition with that. A wholly different, entirely different thing for different purposes. I really wanted to have a leaderboard for our local tournaments so we could see locally who's won the most. Kind of track how you've done at all your local tournaments. So I had our friend Nick Greenup create the tool for the leaderboard where you can create an event there. It listed on the website. You submit your results, get your points. And then rather than doing like a statewide leaderboards as IFPA does, we do it like for scenes so you can see how you're doing versus the people that you play with all the time. Yep. And that's been going really well. Like a lot of different scenes have adopted it pretty heavily. How many players have we got now? We have, I think, around 2,300. That's crazy. I'm going to double check that. If my phone will open, what the hell?
    5:57
Tell me the wrong pin. I think there's 2300. I think there have been 420 events exactly. That's pretty impressive because that really launched in January. It's pretty much been January through July.
    6:14
And we've had 2,316 players have played in 420 events. 420. And that's in like six months there's been 420 punk rock pinball tournaments throughout the country. That's pretty cool. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Madison, Wisconsin, most of their tournaments. You've got the folks over in Ohio. Yep. Iowa. Milwaukee, the Eastern Iowa Quad Cities with Emily and Dennis up there. And Leanne. So the kind of upper Midwest is where it's like the thickest. That where we have the most market penetration Because we had just in our little scene here let see how many players we had in central Illinois 236 players have played in 84 events That crazy In central Illinois in the last six months That is actually wild And central Illinois includes it primarily Bloomington and Peoria where the most of the players have played in But there have been some Champaign, there have been some Galesburg, there's been some Springfield, Dumb Records, you can play in their tournaments down there in Springfield. But that's a lot of players. Yeah, that's like way more than I thought. For our little area. Uh huh. We don't have a major city down here. No. That's pretty awesome. Yeah, like I think compare that to like Madison, we've got 236. Where's Madison? There it is. Apply it. Madison has 295. So a little bit more than us and they're a lot bigger. They're a lot bigger. Although we have multiple cities kind of combined and that's just Madison. But they're bigger and they're a little closer to a major city. They're only like 70 miles-ish from Milwaukee. Mm-hmm. And we know some Milwaukee people that go over to Madison to play. Yep. My friend Dory, she goes all over to play. She does. She's like Kat. They get around. Those gals, they get around. So we did that. If you want to figure out how to host punk rock pinball tournaments, it's on our website. Yeah, punkrockpinball.com. And then click on Punk Rock Pinball Association. There's links that will take you wherever you need to go. Yeah. Oh, I feel like this is the year of like, if you just say it, you can make it happen. If you dream it, you can make it happen. I guess you can. I mean, also a year if you build it, some will come. They won't all come. A lot of them will come. But a lot will come. We had a fella, last night we were here playing, we had a guy, Adam, show up from Minneapolis. Yeah, that was awesome. He listens to the podcast and then he saw online that we're open on Mondays and he popped in here, I don't know what time. I was around 6 and he stayed till I closed down a little bit after 10. Yeah, I think he had a good time. He comes down here for work so hopefully he comes back. Mm-hmm. Please come back and hang out with us. It was real fun. You should come on Thursdays and join the league. It's always interesting if we're like sitting around and we see like a stranger walk in the door and I could tell by looking at him that he was like a pinball guy because we've had random strangers walk in before. Mm-hmm. And you're like, oh, they're not in the right place. You know? Mm-hmm. Like, we'll have to figure this out. They're looking for something different. I could tell he was like a pinball guy right away. You could? Yeah. Just the way he was kind of looking around. You're like, all right. He's a pinball guy. Yeah, so he came in and played with us. You could do that, too, if you're watching. If you visit Bloomington, Illinois. Yeah, come on and visit us. I think his name was Adam, but he gave a really nice compliment. He's like, yeah, you know, I go around and I can play like the modern Stearns, Which I feel like we have a lot. We have 12. But he was like, oh my gosh, you've got this game, you've got that game, there are all these games I don't see anywhere else. And he's been playing pinball for about a year, and so he's kind of excited to see, I mean, I'm still excited to see games that I haven't played before. So I think he had a really good time jamming out on stuff. We also reset the leaderboards yesterday. Yeah, that was a big day. It was a really big day and everybody was pretty psyched and I feel like really trying to get high on the boards. Yeah, I was like sweaty in here last night. It was. People were going really hard. It was. Because the last leaderboard had been up for like- A couple months. A few months almost. And it was really hard to even make the top 10. So yesterday you wiped them and it's all fresh. So if you go over there, you can put up a number. Yeah, I don't even think all the slots are filled. I know. So that's cool. If you come play any game, you're going to be on the top ten. Yeah. I know. I played Munsters and got like three million. I'm like, I don't want to play this, but I have to play this again because that number is going to be up there and it's embarrassing. Oh, you wanted a better number? Three million? Yeah. Yes, I did. Three million Munsters is better than like three million for the Empire. Yeah, that's true. You have to do something. I don't even think I played that. Everyone was playing it last night. Now that we have the leaderboard up and I can look at the stats, it was the most played game last night. By a lot. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. So now we can do our own version of the earnings report that they do on the Batcast. Yeah, we'll do it like the first episode of the month. For the Electric Bat Arcade in Arizona. They have an actual location, like a location that's open to the public and people put coins in the games. And every month they do an episode where they go down the top 10 list of their top earning games because she pulls reports from does the audits from all the games. We'll only do that for the modern Stern games. Yeah. Excuse me. But the modern Sterns here are the most played by a lot anyway. Totally. So the top 10 games would be 10 of the 12 Sterns. Yeah, I feel like, yeah, the Sterns and when a new game comes in, like everybody, I feel like Pool Sharks was being played constantly yesterday. Yeah, I think Pool Sharks got played more than Jackpot. I think, yeah, you might be right. It might be because I had to move our speaker, we have a big speaker in this room, and it was like right by Jackpot, because it was glitching out. So if you're playing Jackpot, you're going to get rocked by the music pretty hard. So Jackpot was like, I'm gonna have to sort that out. We'll figure it out. Yeah, because it's very loud by Jackpot. We're still like getting it all organized and situated. But I feel like yesterday was a good, well, the last couple of days, like over the weekend and everything, we spent a lot of time here. Kev came and Jeff came to help. We really, I don't know, started to kind of, We're settling a little bit on this new side. This is the new side of our space. Yeah, we had the game. We had games in here. We didn't like how it was. So on Saturday, last Saturday, we rearranged the entire room. Yeah, it was on Saturday, wasn't it? Yeah. That's how we spent our 4th of July. Yeah that was 4th of July We were repositioning about 15 or 20 pinball machines So I took some from the other room in here took some in here out there Yeah But it better now Yeah I can wait for everybody to come for League and see it It's gonna be fun. It's gonna be really fun. Yeah, people weren't really coming over here. We had rows and it just felt kind of isolated. Yeah, it felt anti-social. And yeah, a few people last night complimented how they like this layout better. Because we had, yeah, we initially had, and you've You've probably been to a location if you're listening or watching where they have rows of machines that are back to back. And like dead end into a wall. And dead end into a wall. And they had like we had a row like that, which would allow more games to be in here.
    14:44
But then there's no big open area in the middle. And people are either on this side or the other side. And when you walk into the room, you can't see all of the games at your disposal. Yeah. You want to be presented the game. Yeah. So they fan them all out on the walls.
    15:02
And I think I'm thinking of the places I've been that have the rows and I know it gives you more room.
    15:08
But I'm kind of anti row at a location. I mean, you got to do what you got to do. You got to do what you got to do. If you have the luxury of having extra space.
    15:20
Which we do now, but I guess what do you do when more machines come in? We go into the lobby. Go into the lobby. You could come up here. Could come up here. You could get like two games up here. Maybe three. Maybe. I think you do three up here.
    15:34
Be heavy. Well, you got this stair climber thing. I mean on this. I think this. I've been told that this balcony could hold like thousands of pounds. Oh, really? Yeah. Okay. Allegedly.
    15:49
I don't want to find out. We can find out. With the Pokemon up here. Let's put six pinball machines and 12 people up here and see what happens. Yeah. But I mean, we do have this whole other upstairs. Yeah, I mean, I guess you could put them in there. The whole big room over here. Yeah. That's another problem for another day when we get more stuff. Yeah. So that was this space is kind of like a major thing. The PRPA major thing. Yep. What are we going to do this year?
    16:22
What are we going to do this year? What's the next big thing to do? Well, we're going to have a booth at Expo. We will have a booth at Expo, so if you're coming to Pinball Expo in October, in October come and see us. We'll have a table. It's not really a booth like a table. Or a booth. It's a booth. It's a 10x20. We're going to get Ryan from Anxious and Angry to give us some of his stuff to sell to. Yeah, we'll have some Off With Their Heads merch. Some other band merch. The punk rock pinball merch. Mm-hmm. We might have a gimmick with me and MXV and jumping with dopamines, TBD. We might do a gimmick with that where you can earn things from us if you beat us. Maybe. We got to get it cleared. Uh-huh. So yeah, we got to work on that. That's the next big thing, I feel like. Yeah. Oh, also PAPA, but that's a pinball tournament. But as far as punk rock pinball stuff. Yeah. I feel like that's like the next big thing. And then we've also been talking about like doing a like championship. Yeah, I want to do like a Central Illinois Scene Championship for the PRPA rankings. And I may want to coordinate this with the other scenes in the country. It'd be cool if we all did it at the same time, but it also would be cool if people did it whenever they wanted. Totally. Because I feel like with our with our Punk Rock Pinball Association, we're not like a big governing body of the whole thing. And I'm not going to dictate to like the different scenes what they can do, really. Yeah, totally. But it would be fun if it maybe it's the same month. We can suggest. Yeah. Like, hey, we're going to do a scene championship in whatever month. Here's how we're going to do it. You can do it, too, if you want. Yeah. But I'm not going to dictate that like all scene championships are like January 10th, you know, in this format. Like I want to let this, the PRPA thing is really like for the people of the leaders of the various pinball communities throughout the country that are hosting this stuff. It's a tool for you to do what you want. Yeah. And we have some kind of high-level rules just about inclusivity and things like that that you need to adhere to for your tournaments to be accepted. Yeah. But other than that, like, if you're running tournaments in Texas or California and you want to do, like, a weird thing, you know, you want to do your scene championship in July, like, okay. Go for it. You know? Yeah, whatever works for your group. Yeah. It's not a one-size-fits-all. And then a variety of different formats, like, people just run them by me, and most of anything, like, a Flip Frenzy is fine. Amazing Race are fine. Anything where it's a few hours of play at least to win, those are all fine. It's really a leaderboard for the people to use as they choose. We should do a flip frenzy. When do you want to do it? In August. Whew, okay. I mean, it's just you set it up in match play as a flip frenzy. I know, it's just going to be a busy week, month. I mean, we have a monthly tournament in August scheduled. I know, but that doesn't get, like, I don't think you can do a flip frenzy in IFPA, can you? Oh. We can do a double header that day. Could do a double header. A two hour flip frenzy in the early. Mm-hmm. Maybe. Yeah. That's cool. All right, what else you got? I don't know. I don't have a lot else. Okay. How long have we been talking? I don't know. 21 minutes. What have you got? I got nothing. Got nothing? Any other ambitions or goals for the year of 2026, which is halfway over? Can you believe it? It's gone by so fast. Yeah. Halfway over. I want to convince somebody to get a Sonic in here. That'd be cool. Mm-hmm. I've not yet to play it. No, I haven't even really watched any of the videos. I don't want to see any of it. We've not played it, but I still would like to try to convince somebody to buy one and put in here. That be very fun Who it going to be I don know We have to figure that out Yeah we have a few members I going gonna try to convince to buy one and put in the club It would go right along the Richie Row there That'd be nice. Mm-hmm. Yeah, we'll have to move Kev's Metallica. Metallica will have to move for Sonic. Yes. And then someone else should buy an Elton John and put where Rocky and Bullwinkle is. Mm-hmm. You need to have the whole wall. Maybe Dean still has one. I don't know if he still has, he might. We'll see. Maybe I can do... well, if I traded the getaway for part of it, then I don't have the getaway. It's true. Maybe we should... well, that's the getaway two. Maybe we should get the getaway one. The first one's called high speed. Or high speed. This is high speed two. The getaway. High speed's harder. Is it? Yeah. I know you played it already on Sunday. Yeah, it's a real similar layout, but different enough to be harder. I think it's harder. But it costs less. So maybe we can find one. So there's that. We could look for one. We could look for a high speed. That's a System 11, I think. I don't know. Yeah, I think so. They're cheaper. Well, that would be fun. We should have, I think there's a little wish list of games happening somewhere. I still have King Kong. Yeah, what games do you want to see come in here in the next six months if you could choose? Jaws? Any Jaws, Jaws Pro Premium? Any Jaws. Jaws Pro is fun. It's a fun game. That one. Just Jaws? Yeah, just Jaws. Okay. I would like there to be Jaws. We don't have any Elwyn's in here. So I want there to be an Elwyn that is not Avengers Infinity Quest. Yeah. Although I did tear that one up as best I could at ORD. It's not a bad game, but if it's going to be the only Keith L one or the first Keith L one, I want it to be any of the ones that are not that one. Yeah, we already have that one. Yeah. We already have that one. We have Jaws, too, currently. But it's the best game ever made. Mm-hmm. So, that's undeniable. Yeah. I don't even want to hear it. Mm-hmm. Is that your belly? Yeah. Oh. Yeah, it hurts pretty bad right now. I have a bad stomach ache right now. It's because we're making fun of nervous diarrhea. I think so. It's karma, but I'm not even the one that did the nervous diarrhea gag. No, it's because I did it. And now I'm paying the price? Yeah, it's like E.T. and Elliot kind of thing. Ugh. Now I'm paying the price for it? I don't know.
    23:45
Yeah, I want there to be a Keith Allen machine. My preference would be King Kong. Okay. In here. I mean, that would be very fun too. Pro or premium? Premium. Really? But a pro would be fine. Why a premium? Because it has the gong and it's easier to do the multiball. Okay. Because on the pro you have to hit the virtual lock three times and you have to hit the right orbit.
    24:09
At premium you don't. Well, what if when Fallout comes out? Then maybe Fallout. Right now my list of L1 games to come here are King Kong, number one, Jurassic Park, number two,
    24:27
Jaws number three, Iron Maiden number four. Okay. When do you think the fallout is going to come out? I think it'll be out in... September? ...2027. Ugh. Like early. What's going to happen in the fall? Mike's prediction. Uh, ACDC. And it's supposed to be totally different? I think it'll be remastered. Oh. And then what the hell is Brian Eddy doing? I don't know. It's been a while. Haven't heard about what he... Who's doing the ACDC, allegedly? I don't know. It's a Steve Ritchie game. So I don't know if Borg would, like, oversee it, because it seems like he's the remaster guy, because it's all been his games. He's the remaster master? It seems like it, but those first couple were Jhon Borg machines, so I don't know who would oversee the ACDC if it was indeed a remaster. If Gomez would just take that on, or if it would be like Borg-Gomez combo? We'll probably know in a couple months. Because like what would be the new Jhon Borg? I don't know if we'll see one of those this year. Brian Eddy have not heard, I don't know any rumors about what Brian Eddy might be doing. His last one was D&D. It's been a while. We got to get that D&D. We have to take Cactus Cannon up to Milwaukee to trade for a D&D at some point when we have time. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Maybe in September. I guess, how many Sterns has there been this year, new ones? Pokemon. Pokemon Transformers. They usually do four? I think so. So maybe there would be a fallout this year. Maybe you'll see ACDC and fallout. Maybe, maybe not. I mean the Pokemon came out late. Was Fall of the Empire last year? Yeah, it was in September. Okay. But Pokemon, I feel like that got pushed a little bit and that might have pushed everything back a little bit. And they sold a whole bunch of those that might kind of push production back because they ran that for a long time. Yeah. I guess we'll wait and see. Well, we'll find out before you can blink an eye. Mm-hmm. Maybe longer than that. I'm exhausted. Yeah, me too. I didn't sleep. And it's hot up here. It is a little, but you are moving around more than me. So we can wrap it up. It'll be a short one. I'm exhausted. I didn't sleep very well last night. Well, let's go get you some sleep. Sorry, everybody. Yeah, it's okay. Since I'm exhausted, I have a stomach ache.
    27:19
I got to get up early and drive to Milwaukee. Okay, we'll wrap it up. I think it's probably a half hour. You think?
    27:26
I mean, it doesn't matter. 29 minutes. It's good. We'll do an hour one next week. We'll have more energy. You know what my problem is, is I drank a coffee yesterday when we were hanging out here. Oh, too late. And I fell asleep, but I just don't think I got good enough sleep. I don't think I got deep enough sleep last night.
    27:45
Let's go get some deep sleep. I need some digestive aids. Yeah, let's get your digestive aids. We can, like, leave this all set up up here, too. Yeah, we'll leave this set up. So we'll be back here with a little bit more pep in our step next week. Mm-hmm. Because we could probably even do this on Sunday next week. Mm-hmm. Maybe? Maybe. I don't think so, actually. Okay. All right. Thanks for watching and listening. We'll see you next week. Yeah. Toodaloo.
