Well, we're not actually going to change that. We do another show called We Suck at Video Games. and prior to that last tournament we did up at District 82, I was pretty confident I wasn't so bad at pinball. Yeah, me too. Bad news bears, I now suck at pinball. Yes. According to the results of that terrible, terrible tournament. Maybe it's just the old or the classics that we suck at. No, no, that's not it at all. I actually do better at those. some reflections we're going to do talk a little bit about the we went up to District A2 for a classics pinball tournament and did not do well didn't even make the finals which is disappointing I guess you know one thing that was good we didn't play each other that is great not one time that was about the only good thing that came out of the whole night I did enjoy playing pinball there was a couple times I was sitting there playing in between and you were like no you've got to go now and I'm like what are you talking about and I came around the corner and they're standing there tapping their toe like I was like come on man I'm playing you know I'm in the middle of a game you're in the middle of a tournament whoop-de-boop look at me I'm a big tournament player I care about things and stuff and time yes exactly yeah kind of exactly and I don't which it turns out Right. I did about midway through this tournament. I hit a wall. Well, I didn't hit a wall. I was still having a lot of fun and playing a lot. Yeah. But I did have an epiphany, you know, because I was doing okay but not great. Yeah. And I never won out or anything like that. I would, like, a couple times I was the last, and I was like, well, this sucks, you know. Yeah. You're doing four, and whoever scores the best.

    It's based on a point system. So if you were first, you got seven. Second got five. Third got three. And then the loser got one. Right. So a couple times I got one. And, you know, you meet a lot of people and you talk a little bit, but not a whole lot, you know. I had some trouble with tilting. There was one time I didn't even touch that machine, it tilted. I'm like, man, you know, and I looked at the guy and I was like, what the hell, man? because I literally didn't even touch it, and it just tilted my ball, and I was like, that sucks. And then a couple of times I was playing with these other people, and they were kind of shaking the crap out of these machines, so apparently I don't know how to... Not tilt? I don't know how to shake machines correctly or something because I'm not a very aggressive player. Yeah.

    Boy, it sucked. But anyway, I had the epiphany that this isn't what pinball is for me. I don't, like, I love pinball. I love playing pinball. And I love those, I love going there and playing, a million different pinball machines. Just playing and playing and playing. I guarantee I can outlast just about everyone playing pinball. I'll play pinball, sunup to sundown. And you'll be like, at the end of the day, I'll be like, come on, let's do a couple more. And you'll be like, oh my God, my fingers are bleeding. Oh my God, I'm going to be over here on the couch. You come get me when you're done. Oh my God, there's just one more time. but like this did nothing for me yeah um i thought it'd be fun and it was it was fun you know yeah um we we ate some some weird as no pork on the fork yes um it was okay yeah um but it was very i was like i don't even like this right you know and that's what that was kind of as i was playing now i was still trying because you want to you know i'd love to make the finals or whatever you know yeah uh it's the i have a feeling the same people kind of win a lot yeah it's it seems pretty stacked up there yeah and i think it's more i think a lot of the tournaments there are for points yes like for nationals oh yeah worlds and stuff so i think it's just kind of like very serious yeah and then the one lady was like oh yeah we we all competed last night so everyone there knows everyone right everyone there competes on these same machines every week and i'm like well i think i might not have the advantage no right and that's probably now i'm i'm not trying to like live off of past accolades i couldn't ever figure out why anyone would remember me or care when i went down to the asylum that one time yeah that's why if some rando walks into district 82 and like makes it to the final eight in the finals. Who's this guy? They all know each other and play each other all the time. If some random fella walks in and almost wins, everyone's like, what the hell?

    And my outcome was how it should be. I got smoked. I don't know. I'm not... Well, that tournament at the Asylum was like, you beat the number one person in the world. Well, that was, like, let's not overblow that. It was one game, you know. It was, but you knocked him down. Do you know what I mean? Well, I couldn't beat that Cassidy. Oh, no. Because she's the number two in the world or whatever she is. Right. She's really good. She is. And that's awesome, but I'll never be that. No. It kind of, like, comes down to, like. But it's just that you got a lucky game, and that's what happened. Yeah. Because I can get on a tear sometimes. Yeah. And it seems I'm pretty good. But not really. Yeah. And I had a couple good games. I rolled one of the games where I got over 100,000 on an old game. And you're like, my God. No one was beating that score. And the one with Sea Witch, I did really good on that because obviously we have the Beatles. Right. And if you're good on the Beatles, well, you know a few of the tricks to Sea Witch. Now, it's a different game. It plays different. It's not the same thing. But you can kind of have some of the same shots So it a little easier Yeah I just kind of at some point I was just like you know this isn what pinball is for me anymore I don't know if it ever was. Right. I don't think it ever was. I never really wanted to be a competition player. You know, I don't shy away from competition, but it's not, I do it for fun. I love pinball, just for fun. Yeah. I think I liked playing in those ladies tournaments because it was like, it was more social than,

But at that one, at the ladies flip things, those are, it's, it feels more like hanging out with your friends. Like a relaxed atmosphere. You're still competing. You're still having fun, you know. Yeah. But they're like showing you stuff and teaching you things about the machine. Right. Which you wouldn't expect at a tournament. Right. So that's cool. Yeah. And this discussion is not besmirching tournament players or District 82 or any of that crap. This is about us. It's just not our bag. Baby. Yes. And so it was just one of those things where kind of like as I left, I was like, I don't think I'm ever going to do that again. No. And that's okay. Yeah. It's okay. you know some people live for that and that's cool too yeah uh pinball is very different for everyone or it can be very different for everyone you know yeah so uh much to the chagrin uh you know we we did not do very well and uh left with our tails between our legs i'm glad we didn't tell you when we were the pinball junk drawer i know that's in the like huh they're like who cares No, they would have been like, what's that? Who are you? So sad. We're so obscure. What an interesting side note. Now, he must have been there, but I don't know enough. I actually want to write this one group. There's a show I listen to, Triple Drain? I think, yeah, it's Triple Drain.

    Because I don't listen to a whole lot of podcasts, pinball podcasts, but I have been more and more here and there. yeah there's some i just don't like and some are great and triple triple drain is one that's on the pinball network and it popped up and i listened to it and i was like the guy was talking about lumberjack johnny's oh one of the guys there is part of that streaming crew and he's on that like he lives in appleton and i'm like how many podcasters are around here we got don from don's pinball podcast us this guy from triple drain and fox city i'm just like who knew this was a hotbed of pinball media. Right. We should make the Appleton like mafia or something. The Appleton pinball mafia. Who does that?

Or just swing by and say hey and you know whatever it doesn't really uh i remember those guys doing the the fox city stuff because they had that really nice rig yeah that was really cool i should try and like show my uh poor man pinball tribe coin one time but then i don't know if it was even live or on or i don't know then i got yanked i started to try and play and i showed the coin to the camera and then they're like okay now it's time for the tournament i was like okay so i had to leave and go lose to somebody.

Don's coming on like a maniac he's quickly ascending to the number one podcast of all pinball world maybe I don't know so yeah it was just very interesting when he started talking about living down the street from the Lumberjack Johnny's in Appleton I was like what how many people live around this area I thought I was unique turns out I'm not well we're unique because we're a couple we're the power couple of pinball podcast Pinball, the Appleton area, pinball power cup ball. Every time I play Elton John, I start doing like a butt-wiggling disco dance kind of thing. On purpose. Every time. But I do it every time. And I play that same song every time. but yeah like I don't know we'll see this is the same one that did Queen and I haven't seen Queen so I haven't seen a Queen machine I'm assuming I'm not going to see an Abba anytime soon either which is a shame because I'd love to play these things right I don't know how they shoot or if they Abba's a huge band in Europe so you know yeah I guess why not right if you're going to have two kiss machines if you're going to have all these you know Guns N' Roses what the hell I don't know if it's going to sell here but I guess it probably would yeah well you know why not but do you like ABBA do? I honestly could not name one song right now by ABBA. Dancing Queen. He was a dancing queen. I just saw you like. And sometimes that man. Remember that one? So yeah it was that. Oh, then why does he make pinball machines? That is a very valid question. We'll never ask him because we don't do interviews. And if we did, I wouldn't want to interview him anyway. I don't think he's going to hit our target market. But, yeah, I don't know. It's just one of those weird anomalies in the pinball world. We'll see what it is. It says it's an open source. And it starts playing ABBA songs because they thought it would be really funny to have the Blues Brothers play ABBA. and then you find out it's themed after the Blues Brothers 2000 movie and you just take it out in your yard and light it on fire. And the world's a better place. So it makes sense when you think about it like that. Yes. Complete sense. Or nonsense, whichever. You just have to work through it in your head, folks. Just get to burning it in your yard and everyone's happy. Now you know what I deal with on a weekly basis for 30-some years. Many years. We'll just say that. Oh, here's that sticky note. Nice.     Last thing. I'm trying to think what else we have today. So the last thing, I have been reading a book, and I'm going to do a little bit of a recommend for this book. I do, all my nonsensical joking aside, I do actually read a lot of books about pinball and about video games and stuff like that and I got a new one called From Pinballs to Pixels, An Arcade History of Williams Valley Midway and this is by Ken Horowitz and then the last name is H-O-R-O-W-I-T-Z it's called From Pinballs to Pixels and it's a really good book I'm only about a quarter of the way through it but it's thorough and there's lots of really neat stories. And it just is talking about how basically value Valley Williams was making pinballs. And then they had to hit defender and how that like parlayed them into being breaking into the video game stuff. And it talks a lot about the people that they brought with them and how Steve Ritchie brought some guys in. So it's a, it's a wonderful book and it's not too crazy. I got it off Amazon. It was, you know, it's an easy order. I, you know, I like that one. I always give a plug for the illustrated history of pinball. And now I would like to add to that, from pinballs to pixels, it's a great book. So I think it's a pretty new one. I'm thinking it might have just come out this year. I could be totally wrong about that. Inside front cover. Wow, look at you. You know about books. I do. You know about the learning stuff, don't you? Yeah, 2023. So there you go.     Well, that can't be right. Yes, it can. And we're going to go over our least favorite beer that we have ever checked into our craft beer journal. Uh-oh, I think I know where this is headed. Yes. It was a little number called Ghost Face Killer.

    Yes. Which we got for the label. Yes, because I like Wu-Tang Clan and I like Ghost Face Killer. Uh-huh. I was like, oh, that's awesome. Yes. It sat for a while, too, didn't it, though? Like, I bought it, but I don't remember drinking it. I didn't, like, run home and drink it. I think it sat around. I don't know. I don't either. But it was the worst beer that I have ever had. I remember it being terrible and spitting it out. Yes. I think same for me. I think I forced you to drink it. And you were like, I don't want to. And I was like, well, try it. Just try a little for your journal. Yeah, you have to put it in your journal. Which you did a lot. Yeah, exactly. But I was looking at the reviews for it on my untapped app. Yes. And people are actually saying that they like it, which surprised me. I think that's why you should never, ever listen to anyone's review about anything. Right. But make sure you tune in to We Suck at Video Games for our Wii game reviews. Okay, go ahead. Sorry. You are correct. but people are actually giving it a 5 out of 5 oh no, they work there those people work there so the description of it is 6 kinds of hot chili peppers go into this fiery ass beer including the infamous ghost pepper all I remember is taking one sip of it and it literally tasted like the worst thing ever and it's super hot and super gross and I just spit it out. It was just like sucking on a jalapeno. Yeah. And I'm no stranger to hot peppers. Right. I eat a lot of hot food. I love hot food. Exactly. I'm up there with the hot. And no. No. It didn't even taste like beer. It tasted like just like that chemically crappy, like super hot BS flavor. You know, like sometimes you'll have wings. And you can tell it's not naturally hot. It's just they put like crap on it, you know. It's just like that chemical heat. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not like nature didn't provide this. You know. That's what I got from it. Yeah, so. Now, I remembered also we tried a jalapeno beer. Did I make that up in my head? I think this was the one, but I can. For some reason, I thought we also, like, well, let's try this jalapeno beer because maybe that one was wrong. And I think that one was crap, too. Right. I don't know. So you're saying even if you like, well, I'm saying even if you like hot stuff, don't bother with it. Do they even make it anymore? Is that something they're still making? Yeah, they were still reviewing it in at least 2023. Wow. I would have assumed that would have came and went along with the, you know, I would have thought no way would anyone ever do that. I'm wondering if they maybe tweaked the recipe in later runs of it. Like fixed it. Yeah. Because, yeah, we got it right away. It had just come out, I thought. Yeah, because the last review on here was from 4-22 of this year. Wow. It's been around for a while. And maybe we got a bad batch. Maybe. I'm not going to try it again, though. Or maybe we were in on the first batch or something like that. Yeah.

    Who knows? Yeah. So I guess if you're curious about ghost pepper beer, try it. But I wouldn't recommend it. You could take that six bucks and buy something better. Right. Like almost anything in that whole thing.
