🎵 I used to be such a sweet little girl In the old days I've been around real women Hey, welcome back everybody. This is Zach from Straight Down the Middle of Pinball Show from Flip N Out Pinball Distribution and from the Pinball Network. Today, I've got another box of goodies. Oh, you guys know how I love mods. This came from one of my favorite mod makers ever, Medicinal Mods. You can find them on Pinside and you're going to want to order this stuff as well. We'll put it at the bottom of the screen, but wait until you see what I've got for this Alice Cooper's Nightmare Castle by Spooky Pinball. It's going to be a lot of fun. I'm going to go through the install process for you, because if you're like me, reading and everything, I'm going to read for you guys. But you can skip the whole reading, follow along with me when you guys do yours, or just drool with it. Drool. Look. Just drool as you're seeing some of these mods installed, all lighting integrated mods. As if this game wasn't cool enough from Spooky Pinball, Alice Cooper is about to get a much needed upgrade that if you guys own this game, it's going to be very hard for you not to order these mods immediately. Let's go through, let's get through the process. It should be simple, but we'll see if we run into any troubles. Let's go! Alright, before we begin this process, I always try to prep myself with the tools I think I'm going to need. Always do a screwdriver with the little socket ends on both A couple smaller screwdrivers, both a flathead and a phillips A little side cut just in case we need to cut zip ties Because we're going to probably zip tie some of this stuff under Needle nose pliers, my favorite tool ever Because I can use it for anything And then this is 9mm or something equivalent to it A quarter drive or something, I'm not sure Socket So we're going to use these I've always got a towel because you don't want to sit any of the tools or your mods on the playfield itself These spooky playfields are super nice So we want to leave it that way and then now let's let's show you what mods came in my little goodie bag. You ready? Oh, yeah, and turn the game off Always have the game off and if you're installing any lighting mods you're tapping into any wiring You probably want to unplug the game from the socket itself uh first mod We've got the laboratory look at the detail on this thing it legit has lights in here as well that's what we're going to be tapping into a very nice hand-painted handcrafted mod that goes i don't know if you guys can see it in the video here but it's going to go in the back so that when frank comes up frank's going to come up in front of it and you're going to see the lights all going off and everything that that's a showstopper right there that is a showstopper mod that's it's unbelievable it is well well done that's just one of the mods we got we also have the crypt mod this thing is beautiful look at this thing look the the busted skull uh so this look at that i hope you see the details in this it's unbelievable how do you not have this so this goes there's a very bare spot right here where the ball comes and does the denisi lock right here this thing goes right here somewhere right there how cool is that so you're going to see alice cooper's eyes but the entrance there as well you're going to see so the ball comes goes in there this is actually rgb as well so you're going to have rgb light shining we're going to tap it into with this wire rgb lights coming out of there another awesome interactive mod a volcano mod again interactive and usually like interactive stuff scares the hell out of me because i don't like tapping into wiring but usually medicinal mod makes it very easy so we'll see how simple this is but it's a volcano mod that really finishes out i think it goes like right in there somehow like there's a big hole here and it like finishes it off oh look at that it's gonna shine out of there oh it's gonna be it's gonna be awesome and then other mods that are cool you got this spot up here cool castle Cool sculpts from Matt at Back Alley Creation come standard factory on the Alice Cooper's Nightmare Castle. But this fits in perfectly, doesn't it? It looks like he made it as well. We're going to add to that and make another tunnel come off of the castle somehow, someway. Another cool must-have mod. Again, it looks as if these things were in the game from the factory. This adds to the effect in the background. You've got Alice Cooper there. it's integral it's integral it's integral for uh the vampire mode and everything there's like a stabbing shot back there but it's hidden all that is hidden so you're adding to the distant effect of the tower and we'll see it closer as i'm installing it the eyes still shine through and everything and even the monster's claws still coming just the attention to detail on these things is unbelievable i can't get over the sculpting and the painting on these mods and And then last but not least, as if it wasn't cool enough, a very cool secret passage indicator so that you know, I believe it goes, it goes right here. So everybody knows where the secret passageway is. How cool is that? Very simple to install mod here. This is going to be a lot of fun. Let's get into it. Which one shall we do first? All right, the first mod we're going to install is the Crypt. The Crypt goes approximately right there. this has RGB integration it's going to have to be tapped into that system so I'm going to start with this one first because it may be the most time consuming what we're going to have to do is take off this facade take off the star post this thing I believe hooks up right where the star post is run the wires down then tap them into it now I've got the instructions right here that I'm going to be going along verbally for you guys whenever you get yours read through it watch the video that we're supplying here as well for ease of installation the first step it says number one remove the castle facade at the crypt which is one phillips screw i've identified that right here ta-da all right it says remove the star post there star post there is a nut underneath now what's nice is on this there is a note that says that different machines during different runs or it says more recent builds have two screws on the castle facade under the crypt this is where the needle nose comes in all right that's off next install the crypt on top of the star post using the supplied wrench to hold the nut all right so this thing is more used for when you're reinstalling this rather than uninstalling i understand now okay see i spare you guys all of the uh pain in trying to figure this out all right so now that we have that all undone the star post originally went like that through there we're taking this out so that we can wedge this new mod in between this and the screw like so bam bam thank you ma'am just like that put that right in there take this wiring now that's where this is crucial because you're going to have to find your happy place what i love about this wrench is that uh they also when they 3a printed it they print it in a way that has a hole right here to line you up on this screw so that you know that you aligned on that on that nut and screw right there so it like it foolproof Love it So we tighten this up here Get it nice and tight without over you don't want to overdo it Except facade is going to go right back on as long as it's firmly in place. You're good. Okay Now the next step it says route the wiring along with the factory wiring is shown pushing it down the hole right there so there's already some RGB going to this flasher so we're going to route this wire down through that same hole once pushed below the clear plastic shield the wiring should be out of view use a zip tie to anchor the crypt wiring with the factory wiring okay I can do that put that right back down Kind of watch where that goes. You can also kind of, as you're putting this down, take your arm and find where it's coming out and help guide it that way as well. Put the wire in right here. Just feed it through. Once we get this all routed, we can zip tie and hide everything. The next step, you have a choice. You have a choice to make. If you want just a static color coming from out of this, whether it's red, blue, green, you can even do like a pink, ice blue, white. You're going to tap it in a constant in a certain way. There's instructions to do it a static color. Or what I'm going to do is I'm going to do the RGB installation. that way we're going to have lights that match here the speaker lights are rgb already so they'll probably tap into that same thing so it gives you a choice of rgb installation or static color installation but before we flip the play field up i'm going to reinstall this facade right here again it's only just that that one screw there it's not too not too horribly bad It's held in place. Line it up here. Bada-beam, bada-boom. Check yourself before you rank yourself. Look at that. Tight, snug, without overdoing it. And ladies and gentlemen, visually, that looks like it belongs in the game. puts itself up high enough that it rests perfectly on this facade there it's it's pretty it's really pretty all right let's lift the play field up there slide it back all right as you can see as we flipped up remember to dig out those balls as we flipped up the play field we'll see our crypt mod wiring that ran through right here ultimately what we are going to do is we're going to run this back up through to the backbox to tap in that RGB lighting. Now they do suggest that we see how these are zip tied from the factory. We go ahead with zip ties and I'll do that here in a bit but we'll zip tie so it follows through and doesn't get in any of the way of the other game mechanism. So we want it to be nice and clean looking. Now if I did not want to tap that RGB and I just wanted to make it a static color we would go back to the back to the power supply in the back of the cabinet and tap it in there there are directions with medicinal mods to do that but we're going to go all the way back into the backbox to tap it into the RGB so it changes color and interactive based on gameplay let's do that now always put the back glass somewhere safe there's an actual back glass and it can bust all right pull up on this now about did a no-no where's my towel i'm trying to put this under there that way it doesn't scratch up the side rails so on this i'll zoom in here in a second but we've got a blue a red a green and a black black's usually for grounding and then the colors go where the colors go so we're going to be tapping into let's see all right so this looks like it would be intimidating but it's pretty simple with the directions. The directions basically say if you do not have the speaker lighting, see these lighting kit, we've got blue, red, green, black, just like we've got on this. Blue, red, green, black. They go from each speaker up and they tap into, funny because the board even says total nuclear annihilation RGB like interceptor. If it didn't have these, you would just tap them into the black or the power, the ground kind of thing, over into and then the RGBs into here. But since there is an interceptor here, we have options. We can. Ideally, if you follow these back, your blacks from each speaker, speaker left, speaker right, black, they tap into the same connector right there. Same goes for these. You've got two reds onto one of the connectors, two greens onto one of the connectors, two blues onto another connector so that splice down so it's making connection with not one wire but two ideally you don't want two wires in there at the same time if that's how they did it so whenever i'm putting in these i'm going to take the black and i can either run it and try to stack three wires i will not do that and then i'll run the blue to where the other two blue speakers are the red to the wire that's red for the two red and then the green for there. So that's what we're going to do. What I am going to do, however, medicinal mods provide these splicers. These are really cool where you can take and tap into a wire with an existing wire. For example, and we'll get a zoom in here in a second, but like if I wanted to tap into this blue wire with my blue wire here, you put it the first one there's two holes in there you put it in the first one then I take my blue one I push it in there and then fold this over and then we're going to snap that into place when we snap that into place that piece of metal there will make connection with both the original blue wire as well as my new blue wire and it'll be firm and it'll be good to go that's what we're going to do but let me get a little zoom in for you so you can see how it's done all right so we're going to start with the black one first again as you see the black I could tap it in right there with the rest of them but I just I don't trust that I really just don't trust that so I'm going to try to tap it into one of these black wires there should be like one closed in one open in both open ends so I'm going to take the front open end let's take it through the first slot see how I'm not going all the way to the back I'm leaving it just like that then take my black wire here go all the way to the back there now you can go all the way through but I don't I don't like to just because then this can tap something you don't like it so you're going to put as close to the end as you can got both in place now before you go to this final snap you want to take a look those look good tops look good. And then my favorite tool ever, the needle nose. Like that, like so, like that. You could also probably just use a wrench or something. All right. And away we go. Just like that And it has made a connection We going to do the same for the green the red and the blue for the green the red and the blue there and working with these connectors I always noticed that if you ever get like an like an inconsistent connection you can always come back with a wrench or a pliers there's a regular one or a needle nose you can always come back see that one you always come back and if you're not making a great connection just apply pressure right here where that metal piece is so we can get into both of those that's good and this look this kind of stuff appears like it's intimidating but I assure you you guys know me by now if I can do this kind of stuff it's it's really not that bad and the payoff payoff is worth it why not have it to be RGB you know we'll get this all back up we're gonna test the mod out and see if it interacts this is exciting stuff now now I'm pumped and just like that the crypt comes alive look at the flickering glowing green that also mirrors the color on this interactive speaker lights from the factory. Let's see some different colors shall we? That jacket is not my size. All right the next mod we're going to put on is the laboratory mod. Now if you see in the back of the game i don't know from the angle back here see a lot of purple frank comes up throws the balls into play but a lot of purple back here this is going to using two screws very simple install on this i thought it'd be more difficult it's going to go right where the two factory screws are this is going to go around back tap into the power supply so you get some lights in there and it's going to go right about there how cool is that heck yeah let's install it Alright for this instruction say install using the two factory screws visible in the photo This one looks to be a little bit tighter Let's make sure when you're doing one screw not to tighten it all the way so you got a little bit of Give it's in there fair enough now we're going to wrap this back now it says wrap the wiring around the backboard and fasten to the factory wiring keeping some slack and then locate the power box in the back right of the cabinet with the high voltage sticker which is why you want unplugged and attach the red wire to plus v1 and the black wire to com okay all right now it's tough to see but down here you got your power box this is high voltage power supply there's labels under there i'm going to take the red wire it's like speed pop quiz hot shot all right we're going to attach the red wire to plus v1 it's right it has it right here plus v1 so we're going to attach it to that one and then we're going to take the black wire the black one and attach it to com which is right there come see ah look at that red wire here black wire here pretty simple you unscrew this pull that a little bit put that around it place it back in spot I always like to make a little hook, hook it around. And we should be good to go. Okay so that was even cooler than I thought it was ever going to be. Check that out. The gauges light up, the caution lights up. Those change color from red to green. Oh so cool! me that doesn't belong in there. Oh it's coming along quite nicely. Ah good, more experiments for my lab. Here we go. Lucky for you, our conservatory makes others green. the red coming from the top oh that might be my favorite so far all right the next mod is the volcano mod i believe what we're going to do instructions wise you take the wire we're going to tap it into the same thing we did with this in the back of the power supply there in the high voltage but we've got to feed it through between the wire form and the plastic here so it goes down through that hole oh my goodness puppies are getting crazy and then using the two screws that go to hold the opto into place on that plastic ramp you're going to take one of the screws out the front one you're going to replace that then you're going to loosen the back one and slide that in mount into place so that should be pretty simple got to go something like that with this all the way down there so let's see how lucky i can get trying to fish this thing through I think I did it on my first try. Think so. I can't be this close to a spinner without giving it a little... Well that doesn't spin very good. want okay oh I think I got it found the hole keep pushing keep pushing so I mean like a lot of people when they go to install mods they want them on there but they're afraid they're gonna be difficult and stuff that they're just not it's not bad at all what I've done is I went under the play film found the wire and kind of gently pulling it through. It says leave a little bit of slack there because you don't want it too tight. Probably about like that. Now again, I don't know if you guys can see, but there's two screws here. They hold that opto into place. We do not, yeah we don't want to don't want to take them both out we're going to take the front one out like so and then the back one we're not going to take that out we're going to loosen it so we can get this under there okay so that's loosened of course that happens every time I installing anything You hear two puppies in the background fighting like gladiators Look at it. Okay. Not too tight, but just a whole dead end there. Look at that. There's a rip and spin. So that's going to shine out of this mountaintop and also it's going to give probably a little bit of light to the skull's mouth. Let's route the wires back and I'm going to spare you guys but essentially you're going to see the same thing as I did on the other one. Where I go back there and put those into place. What it says is the red goes to the V2 and the black goes to COM. Alright guys, there it is. And I would be lying to you if I said even I am surprised at how nice that is. Every single mod that I end up installing, it's like my favorite one. Look at that. The effect on that is freaking insane. look at the like the lighting on the ramp now oh my gosh get hype looks like a freaking volcano oh and through the mouth dude here okay on this mod that every mod i've installed so far if you've got an alice cooper try not to buy it try not to i'm so happy with that mod oh man and it's simple look at the transformation already three mods in that's crazy i love this always make sure to tell medicinal mods that sdtm zach or flipping out zach or the pinball network zach sent you wow like that mod's stupid it's so cool all right the next mod is the tower mod it's going to take the silhouette back here we're going to put that right in there there's one looks like there's one nut right here that we're going to have to attend to and it says if you're installing it correctly this claw right here should match up with the claw right on top of there so we're going to take the nut out there put it into place and then put it right back on there shouldn't be too tough all right now that we've got the nut off we're going to put the facade back on and then we take the tower and we're going to put that on right there the claw here see those fingers going it should be wrapping around that that's really cool okay so something like that the tricky part is going to have to be to putting the nut back in place that's not going to be easy just joking it was real easy okay these dogs are starved for attention I guess all right so before I tighten it all the way just want to make sure that everything's pretty much lined up as it is here good good good looks good now you can manually kind of move this still you just want to make sure when Frank's hand comes up he doesn't hit this thing I think he's good there that looks good right just a nice little another little piece to tie in the whole the whole game all right this next mod the tunnel mod should be the simplest install of all it says you simply line it up based on the photo that is shown in the directions around there and it snaps into place it said in the proper position it should hold strong let's see and you look it's got the wire form guides right there on both entrance and exit so see okay so i'm going to go by that okay let's see here the front's good these need to go down just a hair more all right well i think i got it do you hear that click look at that nice and strong damn that looks good and the candle on the cake is a secret passage mod this is like this is really really nice very detailed hand painted some blood on the bones there but it's going to let the player know that that secret passage right there to start those modes more quickly can be look at that it's just one screw that's going to be simple i got this maybe i don't there we go and the one thing as i was doing that i you got to notice like if the whole base comes loose you want to secure that bottom so that you can just screw get the top screw off you're gonna feed I like to feed this through first that then take your screwdriver hold the screw in place so nice you can adjust it little bit now you don't want to break this so just be careful with it but looks like it's going to go good right about there an extra little tight there this holds it in place whoo all right guys so there you have it medicinal mods did it again the collection of mods that they created specifically for alice cooper's nightmare castle by squeaky pinball are outstanding i didn't think it got better than the mods that we placed on Elvira from Medicinal Mods, but these were equally as impressive, even maybe more so. So make sure to go out, get yourself the complete collection. You can't leave anything off. What are you going to leave off? The crypt? No. What are you going to leave off? The volcano? Hell no. The gauges? No. You can't leave off anything. Make sure to tell them the straight down the middle Zach since you were flipping out Pinball Zach or the Pinball Networks, Zach Minney. That would be greatly appreciated. Let's go. Let's see a flyby of how cool and detailed these are, but until next time, I appreciate you guys watching. Go get these mods. Get an Alice Cooper. Get an Elvira Hell. Get anything that medicinal makes, because medicinal mods makes everything a touch above the rest. It's free.
