Now who's responsi- I say who's responsible for this unwarranted attack on my person? I say, I say, I say, pay attention now, boy. This is, of course, Foghorn Leghorn presents the Pinball Junk Drawer. You all asked for it. I say, I say, you all asked for it. Now you're gonna get it. Boy, oh boy, are you gonna get it. Go, I say, go away, boy, you bother me. And just like that, it's time for the one and only... pinball junk drawer. Big Show 74. My name is Foghorn Leghorn. With me as always, Craft Brew Sally. And this is the only pinball podcast that knows what you're gonna do, brother, when Pointless Teaser Mania is running wild on you. Yeah! Also, it's for your ears and your butt, in case you forgot. Anywho, hey Craft Brew Sally, have you seen any trailers lately for some exciting new pinball machines. Who knows what it could be? Not really. Oh, could it be Predator? Maybe. Ooh, maybe. Ooh. Could it be Harry Potter? Ooh, maybe. I don't know. Ooh, maybe. Wow. Teasers. It's like the pinball world doesn't know what those mean or what they're for. It's nonsense. Or their actual marketing purpose. I don't think anyone's a pinball was like, you know what those kids like? They like teasers. Let's tease them. Right. But give us an actual tease if you're going to tease us. Nope. Nope. We're going to have some guy just totally ruin the tease, and then they're going to plow forward with it headfirst into nonsense for month after month. It's okay. It all will be forgotten when these machines hit and then are picked apart ad nauseum. They're number one and it's predators to grace. Oh, just kidding. It's the most worst, horrible thing. Oh, it's back to be better. Oh, my God. I'm exhausted. I'll just put it that way. I know. Like, tomorrow's supposed to be the big day for Harry Potter. Big day for Nintendo Switch 2. Yes, that too. Which I'm starting to sink into FOMO. Wouldn't it be funny if JJP just put, like, the Nintendo Switch 2 on their website as a teaser? You remember Pinbar? Yeah, well, now we've partnered with Nintendo, and we're just going to have a Nintendo Switch on an empty box with some Harry Potter crap on the side of it. And mods will just jump into it. They'll be like, oh, yeah, we modded it. They'll come out with special mods that make your Switch play better on the empty box. Oh, that'd be funny. It's Harry Potter. It's all magic, right? Yeah, screw it. Why not? It's magically delicious. They should do a Lucky Charms thing. That's what they should drop, a teaser for Lucky Charms pinball. screw it why not just just keep making up crap as we go right uh it's exhausting it is it's it's really been i you know i've been trying to like find information about the actual harry potter game and the only thing i find are the two the images of the two cabinets right but then it's also which oh go ahead i have i have issues with oh you do i do i don't because i could care less about Harry Potter. Like, I'll play the pinball machine. I don't, I don't, I'm on record. I don't hate Harry Potter. Right. I don't care about Harry Potter. You know, it's just, I know it's very popular. Like, a lot of people really like it. Right. You know, Craft for Sally included. But, uh. Yes. I don't know. And apparently Destructo the Cat likes it. He does. He's weighing in heavily. Bro, we're on air, bro. He's like, look at my mouse. It's right here. He's like doing a teaser. He's teasing. He's going to put his paws over. He's going to be like, what's under my paws? Who knows? Who knows? Teaser time. Jesus Christ. So now they actually did show, oh, look at this, the armor and the side art. Yes. I am a huge fan of the cutout in the side rail. Oh, yeah. Yeah, like the side armor that has the etchings in it. Yeah. Which we've seen on some. I think it was Alice in Wonderland. Yeah, maybe you're right. But I know also there's some places that do that. Right. We could get Godzilla armor and Elvira. Right. But that's just taking away money for another machine. Right. So I like that. I'm not, like, I don't understand how they're going to get all of the books or movies. because it seems like they have the Warner Brothers licensing. Right. So the Bugs Bunny is going to be a hidden character? No, no, no, no. It's like, what's up, Doc? No. And then a poof, and then an owl is going to come down and try and get him. No. And then Porky Pig's going to... Okay, go ahead. So then... Is Porky Pig part of that run, right? No, that's Disney? I don't know. I don't think... I don't know. You're getting off topic, and you're... I'm always off topic. That's true. I don't even know what topic is, to be honest with you. Okay, go ahead. That's very true. But it's like, it seems to me that it is the Goblet of Fire on the one side. I think it's the... That's the B-side to Ring of Fire from Johnny Cash. No. Johnny Cash is going to be like, I like your spin ball machine too. And they're like, hey, what's up, doc? You into magic? You'd be like, no, I'm into prison. Actually, no, I'm dead. I'm in a coffin. That's sad. I don't want that. Anyway, coffin mod coming from a mod maker near you for Harry Potter, for Johnny Cash, for... Fuck, funny. Okay, go ahead. Pinball. We're talking pinball. Shut his mouth up, this. Oh, no. I couldn't talk. Oh, no. I couldn't talk. Go ahead. So the one side is the Goblet of Fire. Right. Which, I mean, it has some of the neat things, like it has Harry Potter on the little slip of paper that accidentally, accidentally got into the Goblet of Fire. And it has, like, some of the other schools that came. It has their, like, how they got there. Some of them came on dragons and a magical ship. And it has that on it. Uber. Uber dragon. Dragon Ubers where they're like, I'm drunk. I need an Uber Dragon to pick me up. Then Bugspotty's like, hey, dog, jump on my Uber Dragon. Okay, go ahead. Is that you tapping the thing? Yes, yes, yes. I don't think that's going to work. It's not. I think it's just going to annoy the listener. Right. Sorry, everyone. More than my voice. So it's weird. But then on the other side, I saw, I don't know if this is actual or not, but on the other side there's like when he got his letter from the very first movie And yeah I confused by what is going on on the outside I guess Well, I think they're probably just trying to be all-encompassing. Right, but you can't. So, I don't know. This is the one that has the snitch as the shooter role. So that's the CE, the collector's edition. I thought that one had, like, I don't know. And doesn't the other one have like good on one side and evil on the other side? I don't know. The other one I only saw one side of and it's just like it just has Harry Potter and then it has like the three main characters and then some of the like secondary characters I guess you call them. Tertiary characters. Right. But like. I don't know. Well. Yeah. I don't know. Well, that does show that they have the assets. Right. I don't know what the hold up is. for showing everything else. Because now, one of the funniest things is now there's also these... People are dropping, this is the play field. But it's not. It's either AI made or it's some wacky thing. And I looked it up today because I saw in one of the groups or chat groups, somebody posted that picture. And if you look that up and you look up that one that somebody did a homebrew of, it's pretty much the same play field. Okay, so that's what it is. I don't put much stock in any of it until I see the video. Right. Side note, congrats to Ken Cromwell, friend of the show, Ken Cromwell, I'm going to say. He's now employed with Zach at Flip N Out Pinball. So, cool. That's awesome. That's a great move. I'm sure it will be good for all those involved. He was originally at JJP. I just wanted to throw that in. That was just recently. Yeah, this week. Congrats, yeah. So, that's cool. So, you know, people move from job to job. You never know when you're going to go. Yes. So I don't know. You know, there's always going to be like one of the things about pinball, the themes and artwork and stuff. It's always going to be up for criticism. Of course. What matters is how it plays. Right. I don't look at the side art. I don't know what even is on the side of my machines because they're in a row. So I don't look at it. I don't care. I just play the games. I mean, I care. I want it to be nice. You know, just be like black and then have a barcode that when you scan it just says Harry Potter. That wouldn't be very good. This one is hard for me because this has been my dream team for a long time. You have a lot of vested interest in it. Yeah. I'm just not sure about this one. It is very sketchy to me the way everything's going down. and like... I mean, they've been working on this as long as Dave Mustaine's been bitching about Metallica. Oh no, not that long. They've been working on this for literally six decades. J.J.P. was like, oh, I wasn't even a maker yet, but I was already calling the future. Future me. I came in at DeLorean with Bugs Bunny and they're like, hey, Doc, you should start nagging this lady who's gonna write things about wizards and magic. And he was like, alright, I guess so. So that's how long they've been working on it. That kind of seems It's unrealistic. Because Dave Mustaine has been bitching about Metallica for so long. Since 1983. Since the 10 minutes he was in the band. So anyway, yes, on to different subjects. Because apparently someone doesn't believe in magic. I don't know. I'm looking so forward to it. And I hope Lumberjack Johnny's gets one. Oh, they will. I'm sure. They get all the best. Right. There's a plug for Lumberjack Johnny's because they always have awesome machines, and we support them, and you should too. If you're ever in Wisconsin, hit up Lumberjack Johnny's. There's one in Appleton and one in Green Bay. You should travel far and wide to go to Lumberjack Johnny's. Dude, it's so badass. It is. It's a great place. I don't know. You know, so, like, and then the Predator thing. Now, you don't care about Predator. I haven't seen any of the Predator. I've been mostly looking for Harry Potter stuff. Right. So it's just like one of those things where like Predator is fine. It's like there was this Predator machine out there. I can't remember if it got pulled back or if it was something about it. Like it was out there, but it wasn't like there, you know. So then finally now this Pinball Brothers got the rights to do it. And they're like, okay, so they've been teasing that as well. And I guess some people have played it and it's really awesome. But I don't know. Where are they from? Oh. They're not in the States, right? Not in the States. So it's already like tariff mania to compete with the bullshit. What's the other mania we're involved in? The teaser mania. So it's teaser mania and tariff mania. They're a tag team. They're cops. Teaser and tariff. They're cops. one's going to play bad cop one's going to play good cop and we're like all cuffed up in this room with a lamp and we're like I just want to buy a pinball machine you can't look how awesome this thing is but you can't see it oh my god it's going to be $7,000 more because of tariffs you can't see it anyway and you'll be like I want to go home and play doctor dude right it's dumb I don't know we'll see what we'll see what Pinball Brothers is. We've played a couple of theirs. They have ABBA and then they had Queen. Oh, yeah. Those ones that I broke. Yeah, you went down the line and broke all of them. I was like, no, there you go. Was it the ABBA? Yeah, I thought ABBA was okay. That was the one that had the helicopter in it. Yeah, you broke that. But I don't think they had it set up when you played it right. Possibly. That's how I'm going to go with that. Okay. But I broke it twice. Queen was like, ugh, wow. how do you queen to me could have been one of the biggest releases ever right like everyone knows queen like everyone like at least knows some song that goes yeah right there that's a pretty good song you know it's not like they're not i don't know that came and went and i was like wow how do you i forgot all about it honestly so did everyone else said something about the and that would have been like huge yeah could have been huge i thought um i don't know there's a lot of there's a lot of uncertainty right now i know uh like the market i bet because i'm always looking for machines and watching machines used market i don't care what anyone says it is doa these there are machines sitting on the on the you know on the used markets when you're looking they're just not even moving and it's already like it's the same as when because like there was like this short period a time when jukeboxes were really cool and everyone bought them for $8,000 and then they became worthless like literally overnight and then everyone that bought them was still like well it worth eight grand you like no it worth like three hundred dollars and then they would like sit there they go out and they like it's still out there like all these on the on the market are still like these ems that they're trying to get eighteen hundred dollars twelve hundred dollars that incredible hulk for 26.50 right you're out of your mind i'm not sure i would pay 250 dollars for the Incredible Hawk. The Incredible Hawk is hard to put that quarter in to play it. Every time I play that one at Lumberjack Johnny's, by halfway through, I'm like, why am I playing this game? And that's me talking. I'll play any pinball machine. You'll play anything. Yeah. Guaranteed. And it's just, it's dead. Like, and those are just sitting. And, you know. Everybody wants a new shiny. Yeah, I guess. So they're just kind of. The older ones are a tough sell. I like them. I love them, in fact. Yeah. But, you know, when they get back down to this maybe $600 to $800 range, I'll probably start moving on one or two of them. But they're going to have to be nicer things. Like I almost bought one. We almost went to look at one. What was it, a space mission? That doesn't sound right. No. One of those. It was like a 70s one. It was like pretty local. Space Wars? No, it wasn't Space Wars. Okay. Doesn't matter. And then when I looked at it closer, I'm like, no, it had like that planking and something like that. I was like, well, we'll never be able to do it. Like we can't like make it a good machine without doubling the price and it's not worth it, you know. Our $3,600, $1,800 Dr. Dude. Exactly. So, you know, and it's the one that you have to love. Like a centigrade 37, I would just, I'd pop on one of those because I know I would, I want to keep one of those. So I would just, even no matter how roached out it is, I would probably buy it because I'd get the stencil kit. and I get the hard top, and I get the blah, blah, blah, you know. But it can't just be any of them. No. Because EMs are real hit and miss. So it's just a real, it's a downtime, and I know a lot of people aren't talking much about it, but, you know, the looming, what people think of as a recession, that's either we're in or it's coming. Now, we might not have it. You never know. Like, you hear these things, and then sometimes they just go away, and sometimes you're like, oh, look, I can't afford bread. So that affects everything. All that affects everything. Yeah, this one kind of seems more like everybody's trying to get the new stuff. So they're... Because you have to have space for it. Space. And, I mean, you know, it gets to a point where you just have to rotate stuff out. And if you don't have somewhere, like Lumberjack Johnny's, like they have a lot at their house. Right. Oh, okay. But they can swap them out and put them in the two locations. They're earning money. Yeah. What these are intended for is to earn money. And I think some of the people that jumped in and then they hit the craze, they bought maybe one new one, then they bought a couple older ones, but they bought them way above what they're worth. And these are the ones now we're seeing because they're not as fun to play unless you grew up playing those. Put a kid in front of a new one and then put them in front of one of the older EMs. I don't know how long they would stay on the EM before they go back to the one that looks like a video game. Right. Kinda. You know what I mean? It's true. So those are the ones that are sitting. There was that one, what was it, Jet Spin? Ah, it did finally sell. It was one that was just too far away to drive to. It was like for $9.50, and I was like, oh, this looks cool. It's a cool sci-fi. And I almost did it, and I was like, I have to rent a truck and drive down, and I'm tired of driving to Chicago. So I just let it go, and that was fine. you know but if we would have brought that one home i would think i would have loved it it looked kind of cool you know i had a lot of interesting shots but i haven't seen that one out in the wild so you're kind of like well this is a real gamble yeah i've never played it before no i never played it before and so then you can't just wing it you know i guess you can but we can't i don't want to yeah we usually don't do that no so i don't know it's we're at an interesting time i know the new ones are coming out i know you know kong is is out there still doing that. We got to play Kong. I played another Pulp Fiction again at Lumberjacks. I just put that one out. I'm going to go next week and play at a women's tournament there. I'm really excited because it's a pin golf. Oh, yeah. You just learned those. Yeah, I did. It's glorious. Yeah, it's fun. It's different. It's a different way of playing pin golf. It is. It's not like you have to go and play with four people and then be the bottom of four people all the time. Yeah, no kidding. I mean, I'm still probably going to be the bottom of the four people, but it's not like I'm going to be first, like I'm going to be fourth place there. Do you know what I mean? Like, it's different. It'll be fun. You'll have fun. Anything else, Pinball World? I don't think we have anything. I got a pin snake for my birthday. I haven't used it yet, but I have to crack open that damn Elvira to get, finally, the fourth dead head broke. So, again, and I've just been, like, playing without it on there because I'm like, screw it. So finally, I'll have to open that up, and I'll get that, fix it, so then I'll try out the new pin snake, which everyone loves. Yeah. Those sold out every, like when we were at Expo and every place we've been where they've been selling them. I can see it because there is a lot on a pinball machine where you can't get to it really, and you don't want to take the risk of scratching it up with a screwdriver or something wacky like that. So you're trying to get into these places just to clean the general dirt and dust that happens from playing pinball. So I can see how it's going to work. I'm excited to use it just to get in there and clean some of this stuff out. Yeah. So, all right. I think it's time for everyone. Is there anyone else? Anything else? I don't think so. I don't either. All right. It's time to drop in some music for everyone's favorite segment. Craft Brew Sally. Gonna have to put your journal down. Craft Brew Sally, child. You've been to all the breweries around You've been rolling all over the town Tell me what to drink until I fall on the ground Yeah That's right, people. And we're back. And we are back. So what do you got for us, Craft Brew? This is kind of a little sad note here. Are you teasing something? No. So in the past couple, I think it was like last week or the week before, the founder of Highland Brewing Company, Oscar Wong, passed away. He was like, they consider him the godfather of the craft brew scene in Asheville, North Carolina. Oh, yeah. Do you remember Asheville? Vaguely. Vaguely. You know He founded Highland Brewing Company in 1994 Wow that pretty early That was the first brewery that opened in Asheville since Prohibition Get the heck out. Yeah. We were there once or twice? We were there twice. Okay, once was prospecting Cary. Yes. Because we almost moved to Cary, North Carolina. Yes. Then we determined that would have been a horrible mistake. But do you know what we found in Cary, North Carolina? That we should not move into Cary, North Carolina. Well, yes, that and? What do you want to call it? Sierra Nevada, right? No. No. The pharmacy. Oh, yeah, the pharmacy brewery. No. It was a bottle shop. Bottle shop. But it was like one of those where you could, they had taps and bottles. I remember that. I was so excited that I could drink in the pharmacy. Yes. All right, so now go back to your story. Okay. Okay. So he is credited with pioneering Asheville's craft brew scene, earning the city the title of Beer City USA. Beer City USA? Mm-hmm. Huh. Do you know how many breweries are in Asheville? Couldn't tell you. Over 40. That's a lot. Do you know how many breweries we have visited in Asheville? Not 40. Not 40. I don't know how many. Eight. Eight? Mm-hmm. Wowzers. That was one of our beer drinking vacations. Yeah, I remember slightly. I remember you met some dude from Pennsylvania. Yeah, you remember? Who was on that app that you're on now, and he would have like 20 by noon. You're like, wow, this guy's really good. Oh, that guy. Well, first we went there, and my old boss from when I was in high school and worked at Subway lives there and always went to Burial Brewery. so he met us there and then he drove us to some of the other breweries that were there we were shit faced yeah I believe it because I don't remember it that was our second trip and we did the Sierra Nevada tour and we met a couple that was a side of us on the tour and we became friends on Untapped and it was he dusted you Oh, my goodness. I think you have a lot on Untappd. I do. He's probably like a platinum member. I don't know. He's the godfather of that app is what happened. Don't try to out-drink anyone from Pennsylvania or Wisconsin. Right. Is what we've learned. That was nuts. But no, that was where we went to. We did the tour of Sierra Nevada, which is really beautiful. Yeah, that's right. It's the, the, just the drive up to the brewery was incredible. And then it like opens up and there's this beautiful, it's probably what, three city blocks wide. That's a lot. Yeah. And they have like, in the back they have like a concert stage. Anyway, you're talking about the Godfather. So, or were you done with that? Like, so he passed away. Yeah. So he was 94 until just recently? Yeah, and now his daughter is I think his daughter is carrying on But she may have been doing it previously Yeah, alright I mean probably Right Like if my parents would have had a brewery I would be a brewer Right Like I would have been just That would have been awesome Yeah, but I think she's like the CEO Yeah Yeah, cool Yeah He won a bunch of awards and like Citizen of the Year and like a Governor's Award for being a great person. I wonder instead of a golden key if they gave him a golden beer opener. Maybe. That would have been, I would have. That's probably why I would never be a mayor. I'd be like, well, it has to be a key. I'd be like, who says who? But do you remember the second time we were there, there was a hurricane headed right for us. I do not recall this at all. So we had gone to a bunch of breweries and we were like, okay, it's time for food. So we went to this place called Barley's Tap Room and Pizzeria so we could get food. And that is actually the place where he started brewing beer in the basement of that. Wow, that's wild. I had no idea. I didn't either. I didn't have a recollection. There was a long period of time where craft brews weren't a thing. In 1994, they weren't a thing. Right. Not in Florida, they weren't. Florida was under the lockdown of Budweiser and Heiser Busch. To get them into Florida, there was like tons of massively restricting laws that kind of made no one else be able to do anything there. Right, because they had, they were, Busch Gardens was there and they had, did they have a brewery right there? Yeah, it was like a lockdown. Yeah, it was just like, then when that lifted, something happened and changed. Then all of a sudden the floodgates opened. And then there was, you know, craft breweries everywhere. But it wasn't, that's wild. That's pretty early. Yeah. So, all right. Cool. Right. Anything else? No. Go, make sure you hit up Asheville, apparently. Right. Asheville's awesome. And if you do go there, you should go to Green Man and Burial. Yeah, Burial, Green Man. Wicked Weed, Sierra Nevada. You have to do that. Yeah, that's for sure. That tour is amazing. I would definitely go on that again. I love that. That was amazing. It's beautiful. Their hot room. I could have lived in there. They let you go in the cooler where they keep their hops, and they let you touch them and smell them. I'm sure it's just a bin of hops that they let people touch that don't go in the beer. I could have just dove in there. Yeah, it smells so good. So now we have hops in our backyard. We're growing our own brands of hops. Well, that's going to do it. Thanks to everyone for listening. As always, if you would like a sticker sent to you free of charge, I promise no spam emails or anything like that, send us your address. What's our email address? It is pinballjd at gmail.com.
