Now who's responsible for this unwarranted attack on my person? I say, I say, I say, pay attention now, boy. This is, of course, Foghorn Leghorn presents the Pinball Junk Drawer. You all asked for it. I say, you all asked for it now. You're gonna get it. Boy, oh boy, are you gonna get it. Go, I say, go away, boy, you bother me. And we're back again. This is, of course, Pinball Junk Drawer Big Show 34. My name is Falkor and Leghorn. With me, as always, the lovely and talented... Craft Brew Sally. Yes, fresh off of our trip to a wild pinball mecca. I'm going to call it that. I don't have to call it that, but I'm going to. Before we do all that, boy, we chose poorly. We sure did. We're like that greedy guy in Indiana Jones that drank from that cup and melted into a skeleton. because we did not go to the Expo this year. And boy, should we have gone to the Expo this year, apparently, since we're media influencers. We're not. Yes, we are. Nope. Anyway, we're going to California in three weeks? Two-ish. Two-ish weeks. Two-ish and a half. Seven weeks. As we were sitting there, we were like, look, we don't need to absorb this cost of this trip to Expo. Although it wouldn't have been crazy. It's still two nights at a hotel, whatever dumbness, trying to buy food. Don't go there. So we didn't go. So we didn't go. And boy, last time we went to Expo, I think there was like nothing new or maybe one machine. There was like nothing. It was the same, just a pile. Now this year, shit's gone crazy in Tokyo because everything, everyone's crazy. Oh, my God. The list of new and exciting stuff that's being released and all the celebrities and all the people. You get to have beer with Roger Sharp. No. You get to play pinball and eat pizza with Roger Sharp. Everyone. Everyone in the expo gets to hang out with Roger Sharp and everyone gets to meet. Oh, man. Just look at the pictures. Everything. Everything. Oh, man. Yeah, it's just amazing. So we really blew it. I feel like I hear the dings of the Stern thing going every time you're telling this story. Yeah. So here's a few of the exciting new things that we missed. Now, where they land in the history of pinball, who knows. But the first one was Barrel of Fun. Barrels of Fun released the Labyrinth game. Now, that one was that long, slow burn teaser that just kept going and going and going. And then finally they brought it out, and I guess they had 10 of the actual playable machines there. We haven't had any feedback from trusted sources as of yet. We just see the articles. NAP Arcade has been just blowing it up with getting information out there, which is kind of amazing. I kind of, I don't know what to say. At first, they started coming out with, like, the rumor stuff, and I was like, what is this? Why are you doing this? But I think they actually have some ins because they know what they're talking about. Then JJP had, of course, the Elton John, which I guess there's two different packages, art packages, and that's a Steve Ritchie game. And that one looks, Labyrinth and this one both had my head, scratching my head going, what is this theme now? But whatever, whatever they do, they do. The topper on the Elton John, I was like, look at this thing. It does a laser light show on the ceiling as it's playing. They're really starting to like. That's really neat. Some of the stuff that they're doing on all these different games, all these different companies are thinking up stuff and doing stuff. And it's really cool because they are doing some stuff. Things are progressing, whether you like them or not. A lot of people, I don't really care about toppers, but they're kind of cool, some of them. And when they're doing that stuff, you're like, that's cool. So while we're on the subject of this one, because you mentioned Elton John and you also mentioned Steve Ritchie. Yes. So I just have to share a story about my experience with Steve Ritchie. Okay. We went to Expo, I think the first year we moved here. Correct. Is it 2021 or anything? Maybe. Maybe. I don't know. But, like, we were getting ready to go back to our room or something or go eat dinner or something. And, like, I'm going to run into the bathroom quick and then, you know, I'll be right back. So I come back out of the bathroom and you're standing there talking to somebody. Yucking it up. Laughing and talking. Like, yeah. Turns out to be Steve Ritchie. and it was like the best like 20 minutes just hanging out right no nothing nothing no pretension no microphones no anything no that was interesting because he was taught he walked up to a group and i could tell they didn't know who he was but i did uh-huh so they kind of petered away and i said hey you know i just walked up i think i literally was just like man how's it going nice to meet you and stuff like that and like we just started talking and because we were both waiting for our wives to Come out of the bathroom. And so you're just BSing. And here's this guy. And it was the best 20-minute just fun conversation. Yeah. Talking about nothing. Talking about everything. Right. You know, that was when he had just left Stern. He went to JJP. Yeah. And I didn't press him for anything. No. I did not press him for anything. He just was BSing and talking and we were laughing. Right. That was a really wonderful experience in my life. Yeah. And I always like think back to it. I'm like, man, what a cool guy just to talk to. Now, he's an old school maker. He doesn't share a lot of secrets. But I don't care. I'm not in that business. But it was just a fun time. It was interesting. And then that was also a story about Elton John. Like one day, I think it was my day off. So you come home from work and you or me and your mom are sitting there watching the Elton John special. I didn't even think you liked Elton John I was like I didn't know I liked Elton John either because I even said Elton John this guy is a massive mega star okay who am I to say I'm sure it's going to sell fine you didn't realize how many songs of Elton John you know 100 billion songs that you know from your life it's like you don't just turn it on it's not something you go to on Spotify or Pandora or anything but that like Elvis or even like the Rolling Stones You might not say I a fan of the Rolling Stones but you know 70 of their songs because they been on a soundtrack in your life your entire life So that was cool. Stern released the Blood Red Kiss Elvira, which is another 500 limited run. It's gorgeous. I can't afford it, but I really love that Elvira. And we'll talk more about that when we talk about that trip. Then the Pinball Brothers released their Ripley Edition Alien Machine. I was like, okay. And then Turner Pinball released Ninja Eclipse. And that's like a weird one that doesn't have a coin door on the front. And, like, the glass lifts off in a different way. And it's like they're doing a lot different. And it almost seems like it's like a home pinball machine to me. I don't know. Trying to do stuff that nobody's done before. Yeah, I guess. It doesn't matter. Whatever. Maybe it'll work. Maybe it won't. And then AtGames slash Zen Studios released a 4K pinball, virtual pinball machine. Zen Studios is the one that does all those ones that are like on the PS2 and PS3, you know, like those digital versions. Not for me, but whatever. It's different. It's totally different. It is. To play a game, like a video game pinball compared to an actual. Except for pinball on the 2600 Atari. That was exactly correct. And then it has its place, but I don't like or dislike them. I don't care. It doesn't matter. I know. It's just whatever. And then there's a rumor that Cuphead pinball is coming out. And I'm assuming you just plunge and it goes directly into a tunnel straight down the middle. Probably. So you literally have a score of four. If you have four balls, one ball is one point each, and everyone scores four. Yes. There you go. Because we actually had experience with it when they released the... Well, that one guy made that custom arcade cuphead. They did that at, I think it was Freeplay Florida. Yeah, it was the first year we went to Freeplay Florida. And that was killer. That game was awful. Like, you just die and die and die more than a Lego game. We played it. We walked up and we literally died and walked away within like 12 seconds. Both of us. I was like, huh. Now I have Cuphead for the Switch. I mean, you can get through the seeds. It is just one of those things where it is just brutal. I'm sure it will be an interesting pinball machine. Not for me, though. I don't have a lot of fond memories of Cuphead other than dying over and over again. So that was Expo. Live and learn, I guess. We're planning. Now we're going to California in a couple of weeks, you said, give or take. and then Disneyland all day long, except for the one trip to Nintendo World. What's that called? Universal Studios. Universal. It's called Nintendo World. Yes. And then I guess for next year, we're planning Freeplay Florida Expo and then a trip into Indianapolis. Possibly for some beer. For those of you who went to Expo, congratulations. I'm jealous. I've never been more jealous in my life. And then for us, oh well, But we did find a respite, a pinball adventure of our own. Yes, we did. Yesterday we decided we were going to go out. You found a state sale where there was a bunch of audio equipment and photography equipment. Oh, my God. That stuff was so expensive. Yeah. Cool. Yes. I had a good eye, but you're like, not paying that much. Not for like, because some of that stuff was really old. Yeah. And asking like modern prices for it. but like it's almost like if we went up there with 400 bucks we could probably get that one thing that said 300 and the one deck that plays the eights but then i was like you know what i don't think we need that right let's save up for our basement right we need a we need a barcade we don't need a camera that i'm okay go ahead but then we like for some reason ever since we moved here i have a lust for like fall foliage oh she does and i look at her i'm like we got leaves just leaves right this is the same leaves so after we left the the estate sale i said can we just go find a park around and just go for a little bit of a walk and we did we went to voyager park up in a schwabin on schwabin on good luck saying the names in wisconsin even if you're from wisconsin and you kind of go, okay. And I did also tell Crafter's Side, I was like, look, for the record, I don't hate that you like leaves. I just don't understand it. I get it. Because, well, you glossed over the part where you're pitching going to Door County, so it's a three-and-a-half-hour drive, look at some leaves, and then three-and-a-half hours back. Guess who's driving the seven hours? Not Crafter's Side. Because there's probably a craft brew place there. Probably, anyway. not driving three and a half hours to look at some leaves and to turn around. So, yeah. So, anyway. So, from there, then, we went, did we go somewhere before? I was looking for the road home, and you're like, well, why don't we try? Why don't we try to go to Lumberjack Johnny's in Green Bay? I said, yeah, let's do that. Because they're going to open a location here in Appleton, so we'll probably be there opening day. No, we did stop one other place. You forgot. there was another garage sale and it had a it had a what's that guy's name the coach oh I found a candle like what are those prayer candles or saint saint candles it's like it has a picture of Jesus on the front of it but they've started doing other things where it's like it's a person in like holy clothing and it's just like I'm sure it's like a prayer candle you're supposed to light but it's the coach of the what's that guy's name it's Matt LaFleur it's Matt LaFleur so I was like well that was in a free box I was like Well, I'm taking that home. It has a full candle on it, too. I guess they figured it didn't work lately. So they're like, get rid of it. This is bad mojo. So I have the new, I've taken possession of it. And now I have a matliff floor prayer candle. So we'll be lighting that tomorrow. Yes. Okay. So now on to the main part of this, which is pinball. Yes. So we went to Lumberjack Johnny's in Green Bay. Like I said, they're going to open a location here in. Appleton. I think a few weeks. Yeah. I thought he said like two three weeks Yeah Oh nice So I got to say that I been wanting to go to this place for a while Yeah we both have Yeah I heard about it but I was like you know whatever And it was awesome. They were, I mean, it's a really nice setup because it has axe throwing, and then there's nine pinball machines. And a bar. And a bar. Like, they don't have draft beer. They just have, like, two huge coolers full of cans. which is fine which is yeah and it's not like just like all almost all of the bars in wisconsin just have here's coors light miller light bud light you know you better have a line of cool go shut your ass down the um now i was blown away by lump by the pinball pinball room in pinball lineup the lineup yeah these are now i've heard of a place the sunshine laundromat up in new york now i'm I'm assuming it's the same way because that place has collector edition models and Big Bang Bar and crap like that where you're like, what do they have out in the public? That was this. Okay. This place has collector level pinball machines. And they have all the mods. They have the toppers. They have everything. And then you go, wait, what am I looking at? People that don't know, it's just, oh, this is a pinball machine. No, it's not. It's not. You walk up and you're like, well, that is a $3,500 R2-D2 topper that you can't find anywhere. And this is an amber light, is an amber pull rod that's about $400. I don't know if that's correct anymore. But, like, every single machine is top of the mark. Yes. And collector. Yes. And you go, holy crap. and I actually had the pleasure of going to a pinball, a Women's Flip Wisconsin pinball. Ladies' Flip? Ladies' Flip. I always say that. Ladies' Flip Wisconsin. Ladies' Flip Wisconsin. We're leaving it in this time. I'm not going to hand it down. It's okay. So she, the owner of Lumberjack Johnny's sponsored the ladies flip wisconsin in their house oh nice and they have an incredible collection i'm assuming if that's what they put on route then they're in their in-house stuff must be just they yeah um and i think that they've redone their garage and now they have in their garage in their basement like their basement is three rooms or two rooms of games and yeah it was an amazing collection that they had there. And now at Lumberjack Johnny's they have Venom, Foo Fighters, Elvira House of Horrors, not the Kiss edition. Let's just say they haven't started making those yet, I don't think. Stranger Things, Rush, Avengers, Jurassic Park, Godzilla, Star Wars, and a 007 60th Anniversary Edition. That machine is incredible. Yes. It is. It's tough. It's brutal, but it is insane. It is so gorgeous. It is. It is so perfect. Like, the way you can pick which chimes it goes through, it has the 65. It has 64. 64. 73. 75. Okay. 80. And then the modern. And I always pick the 80 because I love the 80s style, like that electronic whatever you want to call it. And I kind of picked between the first three. I did try to figure out if there was some sort of significance with the Bond movies with those years but it's not I think it's just the pinball I thought maybe it was like the different actors or something but it was not I'm sorry we're talking over each other what a game what a gorgeous fun brutal game oh my god I love this game it reminded me a lot of Wonnelly because Wonnelly you can't score kick you in the ass over and over but you want to play more I could have played that all night I could have put $100 in that thing but we played every single thing and I'll tell you straight up the smartest company in the world, Stern they did that insider thing and if you want to feel a rush of satisfaction listen to that little that little chime that goes every time you get an achievement it's like a Pavlov dog you start salivating and you're like oh my god I got another achievement And then you're standing there and the person you're playing with is getting them and you're not. And you're like, oh, man. Oh, man. I didn't get that one. Oh, man. Oh, man. That's how I sound when Crafty Rosalia launches a multiball. And I can't think how to do it. I'm like, oh, man. I want a multiball. And then I'm standing there like, oh, man. Look at all the things. Oh, look at all the chimes you're getting. Oh, man. Oh, man. That was our theme last night. Yeah. But what an unbelievable. Yeah. If you're ever in or near Green Bay, you've got to go to Lumberjack Johnny's. I'm endorsing them because we don't know them at all. But, oh, my God, the pinball lineup is insane. Just insane. I played every one of the games, and I tried to get achievements on every one of the games. Some of the games I don't really. I found out I hate, hate Avengers, and I don't care for the Jurassic Park. Was that because I beat you in it? No. Are you sure? Yes. All right. I don't care when you beat me. You're good at pinball. I like that. This, I just don't like the game. I tried liking it. I didn't really care for it either. Jurassic Park came, I didn't have a good game on it. And I was like, okay. I mean, I get it. There's a lot to do and I get it. Avengers, I just, I don't like a single thing about it. And I don't know. Some people probably love the game and that's cool. I'm not. Some games people like, some don't. Yeah. You can walk up in some games that you just hate, people are in love with and vice versa. That's okay. What was your favorite game? The 007. 007. I'm still going to give the nod to Elvira. Whoops. No, watch it there, big boy. I got to do an Elvira voice. No, I still got to give the nod to Elvira because I just, B-movies have been such a big part of my life with that. We have a Slow Robot a Go-Go, which was this long-running B-movie review podcast. And we used B on our TV show that I did for about seven years so I love that one but this 007 wow What a great game Venom was okay The new Shiny Foo Fighters. The Venom had a really neat like rail system. Yeah, like when you hit a thing as it's traveling on the rail, it dispenses another ball down. There's always a captive ball in it. As soon as it hits that switch, you get the ball back immediately. So the first time you play it, you're like, whoa, whoa, the ball's coming right at me. It's still on the rail. And you think about that, it's speeding up the game by like 20 seconds. So it's functional for an operator, but it's also kind of a cool thing. Foo Fighters is still Foo Fighters. It's a good game. I like the Foo Fighters, but I'm not in like with the Foo Fighters. They're okay. Stranger Things, we launched that UV thing. That was really neat. Weird and cool and so unique. Yeah. It was hard to see the ball, though. Yeah. Yeah, that's part of it, I guess. Yeah. The one thing, it just kind of seems like a one-trick pony. Like, you're only just trying to make that little ramp so you can punch that thing in the face. Yeah. I'm not a Stranger Things super fan, so I guess, probably if you love that show, you'd love that machine. Yeah. It was okay. I didn't feel one way or the other about it, you know. Right. Rush, I think I need more time on Rush, but I don't think I'll ever put more time on Rush. I mean, I'll play it. It's one of those games that's like kind of, it's fun. You know, I like Tom Sawyer, modern day warrior thing and stuff and the man. And then, of course, James Bond and then the Star Wars and Godzilla Premium was there. So I put one on Godzilla. I did not because I'm like, I'm not going to spend money on the machine. I can play at home. I can play that for free. Right. so yeah uh you know wonderful thing a wonderful experience we had a lot of fun yeah we were there for three hours i think two two and a half doesn't matter we were there for a while yeah what a great great time yeah and i mean everybody that was there like there were two people that were working there they were really awesome yeah they were really nice kept asking us if we needed more ones i'm sure that was like their shtick so that you know keep putting money in the machines but But, you know, they checked on us. I got to tell you straight up, though, I did feel a little funny going to an axe-throwing place and not throwing axes. I do like throwing sharp objects at things. So that was an odd experience, but it was worth it. Maybe we might have to do that once it opens here. Maybe the Appleton one. All right. I think it's time for everyone's favorite segment, isn't it? It is. Maybe. Maybe. The fans have spoken and we have listened. It's Beer Journal Review with me, Craft Brew Sally. All right, what do you have on tap for us today, Craft Brew Sally? So these weren't really on tap. These were two beers that I had from a can yesterday at Lumberjack Johnny's. This is a half-hour commercial for Lumberjack Johnny's, right? Come on down to Lumberjack Johnny's. We're not even getting paid for this. Not even a free game. So they had a really nice beer selection there. There was a lot of beers that were craft beers, which was really nice. But I had two while we were there. I had Raspberry Daydream by Hinterland, which is probably one of my favorite places ever. One of your BFFs? Yes. Every time we go to Green Bay, I'm always like, can we go to Hinterland? Oh, my God. We don't go every time we go to Green Bay. Oh, my God. But that one was a collaboration with Stillmank Brewing Company, which is also in Green Bay, which we have not been to yet. So we will have to. How is that even possible? You know. can't go to all of them all the time can't you no and then the other became independently wealthy you just become a drunk you just be a lush every day just yep just going to different breweries every day but the other one was also made by still make and that was the little blue pills which was they were both really good beers um so if you're ever in green bay you should go to Hinterland for sure. They have really good beer and they have really good food. I would suggest going to Still Mank. I'll let you know about them later. That it? That's it. Alright, well that's going to do it for this week. We're running a little bit long, but that's okay. When you have things to talk about, it's okay. So we should have gone to Expo. We had an awesome, awesome time at Lumberjack Johnny's. Check them out and nothing else. Drink beer. Drink more beer and play more pinball, I guess. Well, make sure you go. Give support. At least log on to their Facebook page and like them. And I think there's a sweatshirt you can order now, which I haven't. Maybe it'll be a Christmas item. I don't know. For Captain Crazy's Paradise, friend of the pinball universe, Emoto's, Captain Crazy's Paradise. And what's the other one we always do? Projectpinball.org. Yes. Check them out. They're a 501c that's dedicated to putting pinball machines into children's hospitals, setting them on free. They're not shaking down kids for quarters. And I do believe at Expo this year they were introducing more playable stuff for kids that can't use flipper buttons and things. It's one of those things that you might not think about, but they're just making the world a better place, and that's awesome. And heck, if you're in the Florida region, check out our friend Marshall at Little Shop of Games. You'll be glad you did. He's a good guy. Not getting paid to say any of that crap. We just are. He might be at Expo too. He is. Everyone is. Everyone. I believe everyone but us is at Expo I believe there was actually a Jesus sighting in Elvis they were walking through together as those force ghosts going yes I like that Elton John machine and then they floated off holding a Matt LaFleur prayer candle I think Jesus picked one of them up enough blasphemy let's get going thanks for listening everyone my name is Paul Korn like Korn with me as always Craft Brew Sally and we'll see you next week same pinball time same pinball channel get us out of here Batman That's it man, game over man, game over!
